  • Opinion | Kash Patel Is a Warning Shot

Two F.B.I. agents are at the door. Their faces are grim.

You invite them in, and because you work for the Pennsylvania secretary of state, you realize why they’re there. The agents explain that they “just have a few questions” about the 2020 election.

Puzzled, you agree to talk. The agents pull binders out of their bags and begin grilling you. They want to know, with precision, where you were and what you did, beginning the moment the polls closed on Nov. 3, 2020.

The conversation is difficult. They press you on the details, but your memory of those weeks isn’t as good as it once was. They catch you in a contradiction and your heart starts to beat faster.

Wait, you think. Will they think I just lied? Isn’t it a crime to lie to the F.B.I.?

The agents start to press you even harder. Every part of you is aware of the danger. You realize you need a lawyer, but you’re a normal, middle-class American. You don’t have a legal team at the ready.

But you haven’t done anything wrong. All you did was help monitor and oversee the vote count. So you try to reset the conversation. You take a deep breath and slowly describe the process, as best you remember it.

After they leave, you walk through the conversation again. You realize they were trying to pin down that, yes, you had a role in counting votes. They were very intent on establishing that you did help finalize the Pennsylvania vote tallies.

Late that night, after you’ve run the conversation through your mind again and again, a realization jolts you awake.

You’re going to be prosecuted for crimes you did not commit.

There’s a challenge in writing about the absurdity of nominating Kash Patel as F.B.I. director. There are so many reasons he is a dangerous choice to run the nation’s most powerful law enforcement agency that I have trouble picking his worst qualities.

Do I highlight his commitment to conspiracy theories? He still won’t acknowledge that Joe Biden won the 2020 presidential election, and he believes the F.B.I. helped trigger the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. As Thomas Joscelyn and Norman Eisen reported in The Bulwark, Patel asked, on his podcast for The Epoch Times, “What was the F.B.I. doing planning Jan. 6 for a year?”

He has also pushed the thoroughly debunked conspiracy theory that a man named Ray Epps was “allowed to encourage and incite a riot in and around some of the events of Jan 6. as a government employee.”

Or should I highlight his vindictiveness? He wrote a book called “Government Gangsters” that includes a list of 60 people whom he calls a “cabal of unelected tyrants.” He posted an animated video online that portrays him as a lumberjack sawing through a log, except the log contains images of his political opponents, including Liz Cheney, Adam Kinzinger and Pete Buttigieg. George Thorogood’s “Bad to the Bone” plays in the background.

And he’s not just threatening members of the government. He told Donald Trump Jr. that “the legacy media has been proven to be the criminal conspirators of the government gangsters.”

In December 2023, he told Steve Bannon, “We’re going to come after the people in the media who lied about American citizens, who helped Joe Biden rig presidential elections. We’re going to come after you. Whether it’s criminally or civilly, we’ll figure that out.”

Or do I highlight his association with far-right extremists? He was a guest on the podcast of Stew Peters, a Holocaust minimizer and vaccine conspiracist, eight times, and while he claimed he didn’t remember who Peters was at his confirmation hearing on Thursday, he repeatedly praised Peters during his podcast appearances, telling him, “You’ve got a great show” and “always love coming on your show.”

As Andrew Egger reported in The Bulwark, one of the podcast episodes Patel appeared on was called “Vaxxed Mind Control? Zombies Advocate for WWIII With Russia to Save Zelensky’s Fake Democracy.”

Do I highlight his extreme devotion to Donald Trump? After all, he actually wrote a series of children’s books celebrating “King Donald,” who prevails against three terrible plots — the Russia investigation, the 2020 election and clashes with the Department of Justice — with the help of a mighty wizard named … Kash.

This degree of loyalty to a president is highly unusual in the F.B.I. As Garrett Graff wrote in December in a Times Opinion guest essay, “Directors, in turn, usually go out of their way to demonstrate clear independence from the presidents who appointed them.”

Graff pointed to the example of Louis Freeh, who was “so tested during the Clinton scandals that the two men weren’t even on speaking terms, and Mr. Freeh turned in his White House pass to avoid even the appearance of familiarity with the president.”

That’s not the case with Patel. No one doubts where his loyalties lie.

But there’s a problem with simply listing Patel’s scandals and crackpot ideas: They actually understate the scale of the threat Patel presents to American law enforcement and American justice. He’s no ordinary public official. He would be occupying what is by design one of the most powerful offices in the United States government, and he won’t be working alone.

In fact, the things that repel and worry so many Americans about Patel are the very things that attract so many millions of Republicans to Trump. Members of Trump’s movement would read my list above and applaud each entry. That’s what makes Patel a hero to the MAGA movement, and that’s what will help him fit seamlessly into the culture of the Trump White House.

Patel will have an enormous amount of unchecked power. F.B.I. directors have a high degree of autonomy. They have 10-year terms, and traditionally, directors serve across more than one presidential administration. The F.B.I. can initiate investigations on its own authority, Patel will be able to pick his own senior team, and usually neither the attorney general nor the deputy attorney general tends to micromanage the director of the F.B.I.

This means that Patel could, in fact, send F.B.I. agents to the homes of election workers, former members of the government who participated in the Mueller investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, or anyone else Patel decides is an enemy of Trump’s.

Even if charges aren’t ultimately filed, an F.B.I. investigation can be ruinous financially, and the stress can be catastrophic. That’s exactly why a well-functioning F.B.I. doesn’t open investigations lightly (much less for purely political reasons).

Worse, the checks that do exist are already crumbling. We cannot look at Patel in isolation. He’ll ostensibly be supervised by Trump’s pick for attorney general, Pam Bondi, who is also an election denier.

She was one of Trump’s principal advocates in Pennsylvania. (She was even at Four Seasons Total Landscaping in 2020 and helped, according to Sky News, “rearrange the company’s landscaping equipment” before the infamous Rudy Giuliani news conference.) She also declared, “We are not going anywhere until they declare Trump won Pennsylvania,” and said that “fake ballots” were coming in late to steal the election from Trump. Oh, and she’s already defending Patel by denying that he has an “enemies list.”

At her confirmation hearing, she did say, “Mr. Patel would fall under me and the Department of Justice, and I will ensure that all laws are followed and so will he,” but given her history, those words are cold comfort.

In theory, federal prosecutors can also rein in F.B.I. excesses. The F.B.I. depends on U.S. attorneys to prosecute its cases, and ethical attorneys could refuse to engage in meritless, politically motivated prosecutions.

But that guardrail is also collapsing. The Trump administration’s decision to fire attorneys involved in the cases brought by the special counsel Jack Smith against Trump represent a breach of laws protecting federal employees from politically motivated terminations, and they send a signal to prosecutors that they have but one choice to make if they want to keep their jobs: comply with the president’s demands, no matter their ethics or their legality.

Trump’s F.B.I. also moved to replace several senior leaders even before Patel’s confirmation. This was a break with past precedent and sends the same chilling message: In Trump’s second term, loyalty is everything.

Patel’s nomination also raises serious national security concerns. The F.B.I.’s counterintelligence function means that the F.B.I. director is not only privy to highly classified information, he also works closely with allies to help maintain our mutual security obligations.

We can’t forget that Trump’s second C.I.A. director, Gina Haspel, threatened to resign in 2020 rather than accept Patel as her deputy director. In his book, Bill Barr, who served as Trump’s attorney general for the second half of his first term, said that Trump suggested that Patel be named deputy F.B.I. director at the end of his term, and Barr said that would happen “over my dead body.” Barr said “the very idea” that Trump would move Patel into the role of deputy F.B.I. director “showed a shocking detachment from reality.”

Patel’s confirmation hearing was a farce. His scheme was obvious. He was trying to assure senators that he shouldn’t be judged by his words and actions over the past decade. Instead, judge him by his vague assurances and empty promises of integrity and independence.

No one should be fooled. The scenario I outlined at the beginning of this column is a live possibility if Patel is confirmed.

I can remember the days when the Republican Party claimed to be the party of the American Constitution. I remember when the phrase “constitutional conservative” was a means of describing one’s commitment to the high ideals of the American founding.

One of those ideals is the separation of powers, including granting the Senate an independent “advice and consent” power, which gives it the ability to evaluate and reject a president’s nominees.

Patel was nominated for one reason and one reason only: He is one of Trump’s most zealous loyalists. But before they vote, Republican senators should take 10 minutes out of their day and read Alexander Hamilton’s words in Federalist No. 76.

If the Senate fulfills its responsibilities, Hamilton wrote, presidents would be both “ashamed and afraid to bring forward, for the most distinguished or lucrative stations,” people who had no other qualification than being from the president’s state “or of being in some way or other personally allied to him, or of possessing the necessary insignificance and pliancy to render them the obsequious instruments of his pleasure.”

Yet loyalty and “insignificance” are Patel’s only qualifications for the job. He would never be considered for the position in the absence of his devotion to Trump, his vindictiveness and his malice.

Republican senators are heirs to a constitutional tradition that tells them they must exercise their own judgment. They should check the power of the president, especially a president of their own party.

There is no case for Kash Patel. It would be bad enough if he were merely obsequious and subservient, passively compliant to Trump’s demands. But Patel is aggressively subservient. He seeks to pursue Trump’s enemies.

Every Republican senator who votes for Patel is abdicating his or her constitutional responsibility. And for what? To please a lame-duck bully? To protect their right flank in a primary? It took immense courage to create our constitutional republic, and now immense cowardice is placing our system of justice under threat.

Opinion | Kash Patel Is a Warning Shot

Kash Patel, a former Trump administration official, has recently been appointed as the Chief of Staff to the Acting Secretary of Defense, Chris Miller. This move has raised concerns among many critics, who see Patel as a controversial figure with a history of promoting conspiracy theories and undermining the intelligence community.

Patel’s appointment is seen as a warning shot to those who value truth, integrity, and professionalism in government. His past actions, including his role in pushing for the declassification of intelligence related to the Russia investigation and his efforts to discredit career officials, raise red flags about his commitment to upholding the principles of transparency and accountability.

It is crucial for the American public to pay attention to Patel’s rise in influence within the Pentagon and to hold him accountable for his actions. The appointment of individuals like Patel, who prioritize loyalty to a specific political agenda over the well-being of the country, poses a threat to the foundations of our democracy.

In the face of this warning shot, we must remain vigilant and demand that our government officials uphold the values of honesty, competence, and respect for the rule of law. The future of our democracy depends on it.

  • Scottie Scheffler makes miraculous par save on 18th hole at Pebble Beach after errant tee shot

Scottie Scheffler found himself in a precarious position after his opening tee shot on the 18th hole in the second round of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am on Friday. But the star golfer managed an epic par save.

Scheffler pulled his tee shot into the beach but didn’t see it land. He either could have taken a penalty drop 40 yards forward from the end of the tee box, or walk 300 yards or take a chance he could find his ball.

“I just (hit) a low pull, I hadn’t been driving it very well all day and this was a hard tee ball today, being mostly off the left. And I thought the way it looked like from the tee box, I was like, ‘Well I guess we should go up there and look,’ because I didn’t see it splash, I didn’t see any rocks, I knew there was sand there. So, I was like ‘Might as well go look,’” Scheffler said

Scheffler was lucky enough to find his ball, and then came the next task: hit off the beach back onto the course and get it over the cliff.

Scheffler was just hoping to find grass.

“I think the unpredictability was the most difficult part. I was really just trying to get it out over the rocks and anywhere up there on grass I would have been pretty happy about, obviously. Saved me a couple of shots there being able to find my ball in the sand,” Scheffler said.

He was able to find some grass in the fairway that left him about 180 yards out, but even though he was out of the sand, this shot wasn’t any easier.

“I mean, that was a really hard shot. I was in between clubs and I had to chip a 6-iron in there from 180 (yards out), with the wind you can obviously see it blowing off the left there, so it was a pretty tough shot, just glad to get that on the green,” Scheffler said.

He then two-putted from 40 feet to complete the par save.

“After the tee ball, I definitely would have taken a par, so there’s no complaints from me there.”

The par completed a 2-under 70 round on the day.

After the second round, Scheffler was seven-under par, tied for 20th. Sepp Straka led after two rounds at -14.

This is Scheffler’s first tournament back since suffering a freak hand injury during Christmas dinner.

Scheffler said he isn’t feeling all the way himself yet after his first two rounds.

“(My game) feels good, I’ve limited the mistakes and I feel like I haven’t been swinging it as well as I could be, so I think there maybe just a little bit of rust there, a little bit of timing my swing, but it’s good to be getting back into competitive golf, and nice to be out here at Pebble,” Scheffler said.

Scheffler’s injury required minor surgery, but he is now back in action after one of the most dominant seasons in PGA Tour history.

Scheffler won seven PGA Tour titles, while winning The Masters for a second time in his career. He also represented the United States at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games and won a gold medal after a late surge.

Scheffler also became the first player since Tiger Woods in 2009 to hold the No. 1 ranking for an entire calendar year.

The star golfer is 2-under through four holes to begin this third round, leaving him 9-under par as of the time of writing.

Scottie Scheffler impresses with miraculous par save on 18th hole at Pebble Beach

During the final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Scottie Scheffler found himself in a tough spot on the 18th hole after hitting an errant tee shot. With the pressure on, Scheffler showed his composure and skill by making a miraculous par save to finish the round on a high note.

After his tee shot found the rough, Scheffler faced a challenging approach shot over the water to a tight pin position. With a delicate touch and precise execution, he managed to land his ball on the green and sink a clutch putt to save par.

The impressive display of skill and mental fortitude by Scheffler left fans and fellow players in awe, showcasing why he is considered one of the rising stars on the PGA Tour. • Are the Knicks title contenders? Why New York has a real shot

The Knicks are one of the most interesting teams to watch at the trade deadline. Will they make a move to improve their chances of winning a title? Kevin O’Connor and Knicks superfan and Uncrowned’s Ariel Helwani go deep on New York’s recent success and potential concerns in this excerpt from “The Kevin O’Connor Show,” which has been edited for length and clarity.

Kevin: Zoom out with the Knicks, the last two months since Nov. 30. Third in offensive rating, no surprise there, everybody thought they’d have a top offense. The questions have been about defense. But over those last two months, they’re sixth in defensive rating. That’s a pretty big sample at this point.

I feel like there’s concern come postseason time with KAT as a lone center, which is why we’re having this conversation about them either getting Mitchell Robinson back or going to get another big, but they’re sixth in defensive rating for two months straight now. That’s really impressive. It speaks to Mikal Bridges getting better over the course of the year. Josh Hart, I mean, he’s not an All-Star, but maybe we should have …

Ariel: You can make a very strong case that he is one of the 24 most valuable players in the league.

Kevin: Do we have this wrong when it comes to naming All-Stars — that a Josh Hart should be an All-Star type?

Ariel: 100%. What would be wrong about that?

If you just look at who have been the most impactful and successful players this year, 24 of them, he has to be on there. … This guy’s a shooting guard really. He plays like a power forward. It’s unbelievable. The way he goes after the ball, the way he hustles, he’s been outstanding.

Kevin: It’s nuts. He does everything. He’ll screen, he passes the ball. He’s selfless, defends at a high level, sets a tone.

It’s part of what defines the character of this Knicks team, and that’s why, I mean, I get the concern with KAT at the 5, but their defense has been great for two months. They have a ton of wings to throw at the Celtics, to throw at Jayson Tatum, throw at Jaylen Brown. Guys like Hart can defend smaller. If it’s against the Cavs, Donovan Mitchell, Darius Garland. He can defend Evan Mobley if necessary on a switch. The Knicks have ultimate versatility at the wing spot and it’s largely OG Anunoby, Bridges, Hart, that trio.

Ariel: Right now, how far do they go? If the team stays the same, they don’t make a deal, can they beat the Celtics?

Kevin: I think so. My concern level with Boston is increasing a little bit.

    Ariel: Why?

Kevin: I know everybody’s talking about Jaylen Brown, ‘Oh, he’s taken a step back.’ That’s true. The concern has been about the way the ball is moving on offense. That’s true to an extent. It feels like they’ve moved away from what worked last season. But No. 1 to me is they’re an average 3-point shooting team percentage-wise. They had elite efficiency last year from 3, which is the bedrock of their offensive style. They take more 3s than anybody, but if they’re 15th to 20th in 3-point percentage, suddenly that style of play is not as significant of a difference-maker as it was in the past.

I worry that it’s tired legs. They played until June. Three of their guys were at the Olympics last year, not getting a true regular offseason. Two of those guys, Derrick White and Jrue Holiday, are really struggling to shoot from 3 as of late. Holiday has all season long. So with those guys collectively, I just don’t know if I’m trusting the firepower of that team as much, on top of some of those other concerns: Jaylen Brown regressing, Kristaps Porziņģis being up and down, his health, and just the overall way the ball is moving.

So the window’s open. Boston could fix it, but I don’t think they’re unbeatable by any means. And the Knicks have the weapons to make it a really deep, tough series. I think the Knicks have a shot, man. I think they’re right up there with the Cavs and the Celtics.

Ariel: Wow. You know how this makes me feel, Kevin, because other than my family, my kids, my wife, etc., I have two loves on this earth: Knicks and the Bills. And I’m still in mourning over this past Sunday’s game. … But the thought that maybe, just maybe, in June, I could maybe cross one off the list …

Last year really, really hurt. ‘Cause I thought for sure we were going to beat the Pacers, and I thought we had a chance, if we were healthy, against Boston. Of course, we didn’t have Julius Randle anymore as of January and then OG gets hurt, and Josh is hurt and Jalen’s hurt and everyone’s hurt, but I thought, at full strength, we could have given Boston a run for its money. Maybe we don’t win, and if we did win, we could have definitely given Dallas a run for their money.

So I’m just praying that this comes together. No one gets hurt. Please God, no one get hurt. And that we’re able to add someone and go on a run here. I still feel like something is missing a little bit on the bench. I’m a little bit worried about that, but as far as the starting five goes, I really, really trust these guys.

Kevin: You know, is something missing from the bench because Thibs isn’t giving the bench the chance that it needs?

Ariel: See, I don’t subscribe to this.

Kevin: They ran out of gas last year.

Ariel: Yeah, they ran out of gas, but here’s the thing. Like people complain all the time, but who do you want him to play? Like, really? Who?

Kevin: But that could happen again. Why can’t Deuce McBride play more? Why can’t they give Tyler Kolek, a rookie, a chance to see if he can figure something out and be a contributor as a young guy? Why can’t Thibs play those guys more?

Ariel: It’s not an incredibly impressive collection of players. We have to be honest. I went to the OKC game at MSG and it was so depressing. … We were in that game for six minutes, and to see the balance that they had — by the way, missing two of their best players — and to see the guys who were coming off the bench. I mean, who the hell is Isaiah Joe? I still have nightmares about Isaiah Joe.

Nevertheless, it exemplified that we don’t have that type of depth, we don’t have that type of balance. Yes, I understand, I see the stats, I see the minutes, I see the complaints. But really, you have Jalen Brunson killing it. How much time are you giving Cam Payne? Deuce McBride has been a little bit wishy-washy this year and also hurt at times for several games. So, I don’t know. I love Thibs, and not to bring this back to the Bills, but it’s the same thing with Sean McDermott. It’s like, do you remember what it was like before these guys got here? Do you remember the Derek Fisher, David Fizdale, Jeff Hornacek era? Look what Thibs has done for us. So I’m going to back that guy until the end.

Kevin: The minutes could come back to bite you. It could.

No. 1 and No. 3 in minutes, Mikal Bridges and Josh Hart. All five of their starters are in the top 30, three of them are in the top seven in minutes per game this year. I do have concerns there, man. Like, I know you’re right, why would you not play those guys as much? But, it’s the regular season. And he’s giving playoff minutes to some of these guys. That’s where my concern is with the Knicks, because I think they actually might have some more talent that’s worth investing in off the bench than Thibs is willing to give them.

The New York Knicks have been on fire this season, surprising many with their impressive play and currently holding a top spot in the Eastern Conference standings. With their recent success, the question on everyone’s mind is: are the Knicks title contenders?

The answer is a resounding yes. Here’s why New York has a real shot at bringing home the championship this year:

    1. Strong Defense: The Knicks have been one of the best defensive teams in the league this season, ranking near the top in defensive rating and allowing the fewest points per game. Led by Defensive Player of the Year candidate, center Mitchell Robinson, the Knicks have been able to shut down some of the best offenses in the league.

    2. Balanced Offense: The Knicks have a well-rounded offense with multiple scoring options. Julius Randle has been playing at an All-Star level, averaging over 20 points per game, while RJ Barrett has shown significant improvement in his second year in the league. With a solid supporting cast that includes Derrick Rose and Alec Burks, the Knicks have the offensive firepower to compete with any team in the league.

    3. Coaching: Tom Thibodeau has done a phenomenal job in his first season as head coach of the Knicks, instilling a winning mentality and getting the most out of his players. Thibodeau’s defensive mindset and attention to detail have been instrumental in the team’s success this season.

    4. Depth: The Knicks have a deep roster with several players capable of stepping up and making an impact on any given night. Whether it’s Immanuel Quickley providing a spark off the bench or Nerlens Noel anchoring the defense, the Knicks have the depth to sustain success throughout the playoffs.

With all these factors working in their favor, the New York Knicks have a real shot at making a deep playoff run and potentially competing for a championship. While the road to the title won’t be easy, this Knicks team has shown that they are more than capable of rising to the occasion and making some noise in the postseason. Keep an eye on the Knicks as they continue their quest for a championship this season.

  • Tom Kim tops tee shot, makes chip-in birdie to start third round at Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Tom Kim had quite the adventure down Pebble Beach’s par-4 opener on Saturday to start his third round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the second signature event of the PGA Tour’s season.

Sitting four shots back of leader Sepp Straka, Kim teed off alongside Tony Finau and Andrew Novak. But his first tee shot of the day didn’t go as planned. The 22-year-old topped it, with the ball barely getting above the ground. Luckily for Kim, it rolled out and finished 169 yards away from the pin in the fairway.

His second wasn’t much better, missing the green to the left and leaving himself a tricky up-and-down for par. But he did one better, making the chip shot for birdie. It looked like a three the whole way.

  • Irate Victor Wembanyama charges at Zubac after unnecessary cheap shot

Victor Wembanyama is not to be trifled with, but apparently, Ivica Zubac didn’t get the memo. After getting his shot thrown by Wemby for the umpteenth time, he had enough and decided his only recourse was to shove Vic to the floor. Wembanyama’s reaction was more than we’ve ever seen before, and that says a lot for a guy who wears his emotions on his sleeve.

Wemby is going to irritate players his entire career

It isn’t the first time the Alien has received a little extra physicality from guys. They get tired of getting treated like a little fella on TV in front of their peers, family, and friends. Zubac decided to take it a little too far here, though. There was no reason to send Vic sliding on the floor, but his feelings must have been hurt after being on the wrong side of a rejection only moments ago.

He yelled and stomped his feet, hoping for a whistle that was never coming (no need to penalize clean blocks, Zu’), and pretty much immediately came down the floor and did that. The Spurs responded on the floor, going on a run and reducing their double-digit deficit to a tie game the Clippers will have to fight to the finish.

This is just the beginning. This kid takes pride in defense, and he’s going to reject plenty of guys. Hell, we’re keeping track of the number of players he’s blocking on a nightly basis because it’s that impressive. Somewhat understandably, some athletes are going to get upset with him for doing so. It makes them look small, and he does it with such relative ease it only makes it more embarrassing.

Pride is a serious thing, and you need it to reach the heights of the NBA, but these guys also need to exhibit some self-control. We don’t need to see Wembanyama getting into any real altercations on the court, and he was charging Zubac like the bulls during the San Antonio Rodeo.

It’s nice to see that level of fight from the guys, though. They started playing with an energy fans wish they brought from the opening tip. Mitch Johnson was even off the bench screaming. He looked like he was close to his second technical foul of the season.

They didn’t win the game, but one thing is clear from the team’s reaction to the scrum: they’re a close-knit group. They have each other’s backs, and all Spurs fans can get behind that.

In a heated moment during a recent NBA game, rising star Victor Wembanyama lost his cool and charged at Ivica Zubac after the Clippers center delivered an unnecessary cheap shot. The 7-foot-2 French phenom was visibly irate as he confronted Zubac, showing a rare display of aggression on the court.

The incident occurred late in the fourth quarter, with the game already out of reach for Wembanyama’s team. Zubac, frustrated by his team’s poor performance, took a cheap shot at Wembanyama as he was going up for a rebound, sparking the young center’s furious reaction.

Wembanyama, known for his calm and composed demeanor on the court, surprised everyone with his outburst. His teammates and coaches quickly intervened to prevent any further escalation, but the message was clear – do not mess with Victor Wembanyama.

While emotions can run high in the heat of competition, Wembanyama’s uncharacteristic outburst serves as a reminder that even the most composed players have their breaking points. It will be interesting to see how he and Zubac handle the fallout from this incident, and whether it will have any lasting impact on their relationship on the court.
