  • Emilia Clarke’s 10 Best Movies And TV Shows

Kicking off her career in 2009, Emilia Clarke became one of the most popular actresses in the world, appearing in one of the biggest shows of all time, and a handful of great movies and other shows. The British actress rose to prominence with her role as Daenerys Targaryen in the monumental HBO show, Game of Thrones. The once unknown actress was now one of the biggest stars in the world, opening her up to a lot of exciting roles going forward.

After Game of Thrones thrust her into the spotlight, Clarke began appearing as significant characters in several other big projects, including Me Before You, Last Christmas, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Secret Invasion, and Terminator Genisys. Emilia Clarke has remained busy throughout her career, and has some significant roles coming up, including an Amazon Prime series called Criminal, and another one for Peacock called Ponies.

In 2023, Emilia Clarke added another major franchise to her filmography, this time playing G’iah in the MCU series, Secret Invasion. While one of the lesser MCU projects, Secret Invasion is a decent enough superhero thriller, with a solid performance from both Samuel L. Jackson and Emilia Clarke. The MCU had been quietly building up to the show’s narrative for a while, and with some loose threads left after the series, it will be interesting to see where they take some characters next.

    Emilia Clarke’s Major Franchise Appearances

Starring opposite Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn, Emilia Clarke plays a significant role in the series, as G’iah eventually becomes a Super-Skrull. Like most of her performances, Emilia Clarke is great in Secret Invasion, having more to work with than most of the other characters in the series. Having Clarke play G’iah could be important for the appeal of the character if she reappears in the MCU, given how well-liked the actress is.

    Terminator Genisys (2015)

    Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor

As Game of Thrones became one of the biggest TV shows of all time, Emilia Clarke was able to land the role of Sarah Connor in Terminator Genisys, another installment of the long-running science-fiction series started by James Cameron in the 80s. Like Secret Invasion, Terminator Genisys isn’t one of the best entries in its franchise, but it is serviceable, attempting to do a lot of new things in the franchise.

Why Terminator Genisys Recast The T-1000 With Lee Byung-hun

Terminator Genisys featured the return of the iconic villain the T-1000, but why was the role recast with Squid Game star Lee Byung-hun?

Emilia Clarke had massive shoes to fill as Sarah Connor, one of the greatest female action characters of all time, with a committed performance by Linda Hamilton in the role in the first two films. Clarke did an admirable job, all things considered, and was one of the biggest highlights of the entire film. Though not as “tough” as Hamilton’s Connor, Emilia Clarke brought a new energy to the character, not content to just rehash what came before.

Premiering in 2005, Robot Chicken was a staple of Adult Swim throughout its run, as the often hilarious stop-motion sketch comedy series has continuously tapped into the pop culture zeitgeist for nearly two decades. In fact, the series continues to this day, featuring a variety of silly scenarios and creative bits. In 2016, Emilia Clarke took on a role in one of the show’s episodes, adding to her varied credits.

Robot Chicken is the longest-running Adult Swim show.

Though she only appeared in one episode of the show, Emilia Clarke has a short, but memorable scene as Bridget, one of the members of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. In the episode, it is revealed that Bridget had relieved herself in the pants when it was her turn to wear them, and seems to be proud of that fact. It is a silly sketch, but Clarke’s over-the-top performance fits well with the tone of the show.

It’s a touching film that features a pair of fantastic leads.

Futurama has been a long-running on-and-off animated comedy series since 1999. It has been well-received, as it explores the adventures of Fry, Leela, and Bender, who are employees at Planet Express, an interplanetary delivery company. Futurama is largely considered one of the best animated TV shows ever, full of genuine heart and incredible humor. After nine seasons, it still feels like there are plenty more stories to tell for the series.

Futurama continues on Hulu, as the streamer has renewed the series for seasons 10 and 11.

Emilia Clarke isn’t a staple of Futurama or anything. In fact, she only appeared in one episode back in 2013, titled “Stench and Stenchibility.” Emilia Clarke plays Marianne in the episode, a one-off character who is the girlfriend of Dr. John A. Zoidberg, in what was one of the last episodes of the entire series at the time, before it was revived. Marianne is a kind, empathetic character, and Emilia Clarke voices her to perfection.

While she is largely known for Game of Thrones, Emilia Clarke began to make a name for herself in the romantic comedy space, which included the 2019 holiday film, Last Christmas. Inspired by George Michaels and Wham!, Last Christmas is a heartfelt, and often very funny romantic comedy that is sure to be a tearjerker as it reaches its climax. Not only is it underrated in Clarke’s filmography, but it is also underrated as a Christmas film overall, even though it is undeniably charming.

Her chemistry with Henry Golding is fantastic throughout the entire film, and by the end of it, it’s hard not to be in love with Emilia Clarke’s character.

Emilia Clarke is magnetic in Last Christmas, playing Kate, a disillusioned Christmas store worker just trying to make it day-to-day. Kate is a lovable mess for most of Last Christmas, and Clarke’s committed performance makes her incredibly charming. Her chemistry with Henry Golding is fantastic throughout the entire film, and by the end of it, it’s hard not to be in love with Emilia Clarke’s character.

Emilia Clarke is incredibly funny and charming, which is a drastic contrast to what most people think of her as an actor, due to her Game of Thrones fame. This is best seen in her various other roles, including in Me Before You, a charming romantic drama that ends up being a very moving tearjerker by the time the credits appear. Based on the novel of the same name, Me Before You tells of a tragic love between a recently paralyzed man and his caretaker.

Emilia Clarke plays Louisa Clark, the quirky, bubbly caretaker of Sam Claflin’s Will Traynor. The two actors’ chemistry is undeniable, and Louisa is bursting from the seams with so much charm. At the time of Me Before You, Game of Thrones was essentially at the height of its popularity, and seeing such a drastic turn for Clarke was impressive, as Me Before You is one of the best performances in her career.

Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)

    Emilia Clarke as Qi’ra

Releasing just half a year after Star Wars: The Last Jedi became extremely divisive, Solo: A Star Wars Story suffered because of that, failing to break even at the box office. Despite that, the Han Solo prequel film is actually a fantastic entry into the franchise as a whole, and one of the most underrated Star Wars projects that Disney has made. It captures the spirit of the original trilogy perfectly.

Clarke is great as the character, and it is a shame that she might not play her again, given that Disney seems to have no plans to follow up on the dangling story threads the movie left off with.

Few actors could say that one of their earliest projects is also incredibly important for pop culture as a whole, shaping an entire industry due to how groundbreaking it was. Emilia Clarke can, though, given she was one of the most significant pieces of Game of Thrones for all eight seasons. It’s hard to overstate just how much of an impact Game of Thrones made on the television industry, and even though it ended on a divisive note, it is still considered one of the greatest shows ever made.

Emilia Clarke took the world by storm as Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons and thought to be heir to the Iron Throne. Dany became one of the most popular TV characters of all time throughout the show’s run, with audiences watching her amass power and influence over the course of her journey. • ‘I love our look – I think it grows on you’: Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man creator defends the Marvel show’s animation style after fierce fan criticism

    • Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man‘s creator has defended the show’s animation style
    • Some Marvel fans have criticized how the series looks from a movement viewpoint
    • Jeff Tramell says viewers should judge it after watching the whole season, rather than a two-minute trailer

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man‘s showrunner has defended its animation style in the wake of fierce fan criticism.

Speaking to TechRadar ahead of the Marvel show’s premiere on January 29, Jeff Tramell implored viewers to “give it a chance” after some fans reacted negatively to how it looks. Tramell, who also acts as the series’ head writer and one of its executive producers, wants people to watch all 10 episodes before they comment on the animation techniques that have been used.

Ever since the Disney Plus animated series was first shown exclusively to D23 Expo 2024 members last August, fans have had plenty to say about the choice of animation. In the aftermath of said footage leaking online, threads on r/MarvelStudios, r/SpiderMan, r/MarvelStudiosSpoilers and other Reddit pages were full of comments labeling character movements as “weird”, “off-putting”, “awful”, “rough”, and “lazy”.

Fans haven’t held back over what they think about the show’s animation style (Image credit: Marvel Animation/Disney Plus)

The negativity grew exponentially once the animated show’s first trailer – one of six big entertainment stories you might have missed over the 2024 holiday season – was released, too. Once the teaser was revealed in late December 2024, new threads on r/SpiderMan, r/MarvelStudios, r/MarvelStudioSpoilers, and other Reddit pages were similarly packed with people’s opinions on its animation. Indeed, from those saying Marvel was “trying too hard” and that the backgrounds look “empty”, to even harsher critiques suggesting it looked “ugly” and “dogs**t”, fans didn’t hold back as they passed judgment on the series’ animation style.

As the creator of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, I want to address some of the recent criticism our show has received regarding its animation style. I understand that some fans may have initially been taken aback by the unique look we have chosen for our series, but I truly believe that it is a style that grows on you.

When we set out to create Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, we wanted to do something different and innovative. We wanted to push the boundaries of traditional animation and create a visually stunning and dynamic world for our beloved web-slinger to inhabit. And while I know that change can be unsettling for some, I am confident that once fans give our show a chance, they will come to appreciate and even love the artistic choices we have made.

I am incredibly proud of the animation style we have developed for Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. I believe it captures the essence of the character in a fresh and exciting way, and I hope that fans will eventually come to see it as a bold and imaginative interpretation of the classic superhero.

So to all the fans who have expressed doubts about our animation style, I ask you to keep an open mind and give Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man a chance. I think you will find that our look is not only eye-catching and visually stunning, but also perfectly suited to the dynamic and action-packed world of Spider-Man. Thank you for your continued support, and I hope you will join us on this thrilling animated adventure.

EFX wurde im Allgemeinen gut vertragen, wobei die meisten unerwünschten Ereignisse Grad 1 oder 2 gastrointestinale Probleme waren.

    Positive

    • Statistically significant reversal of cirrhosis in 39% of 50mg EFX group (p=0.009)

    • More than doubling of effect size from weeks 36 to 96 in 50mg group (10% to 24%)

    • 45% cirrhosis reversal rate in non-GLP-1 patients with 50mg EFX

    • Favorable safety profile with no drug-related serious adverse events

    Negative

    • Presence of gastrointestinal adverse events (diarrhea, nausea)

    • Lower efficacy in ITT analysis (29%) compared to completer analysis (39%)

    Insights

The SYMMETRY trial results represent a potential watershed moment in MASH treatment. The 39% cirrhosis reversal rate in the 50mg EFX group (p=0.009) is unprecedented in the field of liver disease therapeutics. Even the more conservative ITT analysis showed a 29% response rate (p=0.031), maintaining statistical significance.

Several aspects make these results particularly compelling:

    • The doubling of effect size from weeks 36 to 96 (10% to 24%) suggests increasing benefits with longer treatment duration – critical for a chronic condition like MASH
    • The subgroup analysis excluding GLP-1 users showed an even more robust 45% response rate, differentiating EFX’s mechanism from popular weight-loss drugs
    • The biomarker data strongly supports the histological findings – particularly the 0.53-point reduction in ELF score and 24% reduction in liver stiffness for the 50mg group

The safety profile appears manageable, with primarily Grade 1-2 gastrointestinal events and no treatment-related serious adverse events. This favorable benefit-risk profile is important for a drug targeting chronic use in a large patient population.

These results are particularly significant given that compensated cirrhosis represents the most severe form of MASH before decompensation, where mortality risk increases dramatically. The ability to reverse cirrhosis could fundamentally alter the disease trajectory for these high-risk patients.

The SYMMETRY results position EFX as a potential first-in-class therapy for MASH cirrhosis, addressing a critical unmet need in a market with no approved treatments. The robust efficacy data, particularly in cirrhosis reversal, could support premium pricing and favorable reimbursement decisions.

    Key market implications:

    • First-mover advantage in the high-value cirrhotic MASH segment, where patients face significant mortality risk
    • Differentiated positioning from GLP-1s, supported by superior efficacy in non-GLP-1 users (45% response rate)
    • Strong safety profile supporting chronic use, critical for market adoption and payer acceptance
    • Multiple supportive biomarkers that could facilitate real-world monitoring of treatment response

The data’s strength could support broad label claims and favorable positioning in treatment guidelines. The demonstrated benefits in cirrhosis reversal could justify premium pricing, particularly given the high costs associated with liver transplantation and complications of advanced liver disease.

Among patients with baseline and week 96 biopsies, 39% of the 50mg EFX group (p=0.009) demonstrated ≥1 stage improvement in fibrosis with no worsening of MASH, representing a 24% effect size over placebo at 15%

By ITT analysis, with all missing week 96 biopsies treated as failures, 29% of the 50mg EFX group (p=0.031) demonstrated ≥1 stage improvement in fibrosis with no worsening of MASH, representing a 17% effect size over placebo at 12%

Investor webcast at 8:00 am ET Monday, January 27, 2025

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Jan. 27, 2025 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Akero Therapeutics, Inc. (Nasdaq: AKRO), a clinical-stage company developing transformational treatments for patients with serious metabolic disease marked by high unmet medical need, today released preliminary topline week 96 results from SYMMETRY, a Phase 2b study evaluating the efficacy and safety of its lead product candidate efruxifermin (EFX) in patients with biopsy-confirmed compensated cirrhosis (F4), Child-Pugh Class A, due to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH). Among patients with baseline and week 96 biopsies (n=134), 39% of patients treated with 50mg EFX (n=46) (p=0.009) experienced reversal of cirrhosis with no worsening of MASH, compared to 15% for placebo (n=47). In the Intent to Treat (ITT) population (n=181), with all missing week 96 biopsies treated as failures, 29% of patients in the 50mg EFX group (n=63) (p=0.031) experienced reversal of cirrhosis with no worsening of MASH, compared to approximately 12% in the placebo group (n=61).

With more than a doubling of effect size from weeks 36 to 96 in the 50mg group (from 10% to 24%), the SYMMETRY study underscores the benefit of longer EFX treatment for patients with compensated cirrhosis (F4).

In a subgroup of patients with baseline and week 96 biopsies who were not taking GLP-1 at baseline (n=97), 45% in the 50mg EFX group experienced reversal of cirrhosis with no worsening of MASH (n=29) (p=0.009) compared to 17% for placebo (n=36), suggesting that the observed reversal of cirrhosis was not attributable to GLP-1 therapy.

“Until today, we’ve not had the prospect of an effective treatment for compensated cirrhosis due to MASH, which is associated with high rates of short-term morbidity and mortality,” said Mazen Nourredin, M.D., Professor of Medicine and Transplant Hepatologist at Houston Methodist Hospital, and principal investigator for the SYMMETRY study. “Now we have reason to be optimistic about the future potential of EFX as a much-needed treatment for cirrhosis, if approved. I’m so happy for my patients and patients all around the world.”

“We believe today’s first-ever public report of reversal of cirrhosis due to MASH, whether by completer or ITT analysis, sets EFX apart from other approved or investigational treatments in the MASH landscape as a compound with transformational potential,” said Andrew Cheng, M.D., Ph.D., president and chief executive officer of Akero. “We look forward to continuing evaluation of 50mg EFX in our ongoing Phase 3 SYNCHRONY Outcomes study in patients with compensated cirrhosis due to MASH.”

The reversal of cirrhosis, as quantified by a consensus of two histopathologists, is supported by improvements in noninvasive measures of liver fibrosis and injury.

    About Cirrhosis Due to MASH
Cirrhosis due to MASH (metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis) is a life-threatening disease with high risk of liver failure, cancer and eventually death. By 2030, an estimated 3 million Americans are projected to have MASH cirrhosis, which is the fastest growing cause of liver transplants and liver cancer in the United States and Europe.

    About the SYMMETRY Study
The Phase 2b SYMMETRY study is a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, dose-ranging trial in adult patients with biopsy-confirmed compensated cirrhosis (F4, Child-Pugh A) due to MASH. The study enrolled a total of 182 patients, randomized to receive once-weekly subcutaneous dosing of 28mg or 50mg EFX, or placebo for 36 weeks, 181 of whom received at least one study dose. The primary efficacy endpoint for the study was the proportion of patients who achieve at least one-stage fibrosis improvement without worsening of MASH at week 36. Week 96 secondary measures included ≥1 stage fibrosis improvement and no worsening of MASH, MASH resolution, change from baseline in liver enzymes, noninvasive markers of liver fibrosis, glycemic control, and lipoproteins, as well as safety and tolerability measures.

    About EFX
Efruxifermin (EFX), Akero’s lead product candidate for MASH, is currently being evaluated in three ongoing Phase 3 studies. In multiple Phase 2 studies, EFX has been observed to reverse fibrosis (including compensated cirrhosis), resolve MASH, reduce non-invasive markers of fibrosis and liver injury, and improve insulin sensitivity and lipoprotein profile. This holistic profile offers the potential to address the complex, multi-system disease state of all stages of MASH, including improvements in lipoprotein risk factors linked to cardiovascular disease – the leading cause of death among MASH patients. Engineered to mimic the biological activity profile of native FGF21, EFX is designed to offer convenient once-weekly dosing and has been generally well-tolerated in clinical trials to date.

    About Akero Therapeutics

In the photos, Morris looked to be enjoying some time off as she soaked up the sun in Mexico and drank from a coconut while hanging out with friends.

She captioned the shot, “The texans head to mexico .”

The photos also showed Morris enjoying her downtime by playing cards, visiting a bar, drinking cocktails and reading Rebecca Yarros’ Fourth Wing while at the beach.

The vacation comes a year after the “People Still Show Up” singer finalized her divorce from songwriter Ryan Hurd.

Morris filed for divorce in October 2023 after five years of marriage, which was ultimately finalized in January 2024.

The two singers met in 2014 during a songwriting session, tying the knot four years later and welcoming their son Hayes in March 2020.

Morris opened up about navigating coparenting with her ex during a candid podcast interview in September 2024.

“The coparenting thing has been going well,” Morris said during an appearance on the “Armchair Expert” podcast. “We’re trying our best in this way, but it’s still pretty fresh.”

That same month, Morris shared details about what it was like to dip her toes back into the dating scene, including joining exclusive dating app Raya, after coming out as bisexual last year.

“[I’m dating] a little bit,” Morris said during an appearance on the “Chicks in the Office” podcast in September 2024. “I mean, I’ve never really dated. Like, I’ve been in two long, monogamous relationships with men, and I never really had this dating phase because I was just always working [and] I ended up with long relationships with people I worked with or had proximity to.”

  • Ellen Degeneres & Portia de Rossi’s Latest Move Shows They’re Seemingly Desperate to Cut All US Ties

It seems Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi haven’t cut all their US ties just yet. The Queens of California real estate seemingly made a hasty move to the UK, selling their dream home to the shock of everyone. However, there’s still one property they need to unload, and they’re trying to do it as quickly as possible.

According to SFGate, the pair have one final Los Angeles property, and it’s one fans may be familiar with. Back in late 2022, the pair bought Tom Ford’s old home: a five-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom home for $29 million.

    More from SheKnows

Now, this is where it gets a little complicated: they listed the house soon after renovations for $33.9 million. It went off the market, with many thinking it got sold, but nope! It was just removed in Aug 2024, and they’re now listing it for less than a million more than when they bought it: for $29.99 million.

So it’s quite clear that they’re quite gun-ho about leaving their US roots behind, especially since they’re selling this mega mansion for such a low number compared to when they bought and renovated it.

    Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi

For those who don’t know, DeGeneres and Rossie met back in 2001 at a Rock the Vote concert. However, they didn’t get together until 2004. When they reconnected in 2004, DeGeneres was with photographer Alexandra Hedison and de Rossi was with singer Francesca Gregorini. However, after they split with their respective partners, they started dating.

They got engaged, and later married in Aug 2008, at their former home in Beverly Hills, Calif; and have been together ever since.

And in case you’re like, “When did they move to the UK?,” here’s what you need to know. They left after President Donald Trump was re-elected (and after DeGeneres said goodbye to the spotlight. However, insiders also claimed that they moved due to their marriage, saying to InTouch Weekly that “getting out of Southern California only increases the incredible control Ellen has had over Portia for years, and Ellen clearly had a reason to want to increase that level of control.”

Ellen Degeneres & Portia de Rossi’s Latest Move Shows They’re Seemingly Desperate to Cut All US Ties

Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi have been making headlines recently with their seemingly drastic decision to sell off all their US properties and relocate to a remote island in the Pacific. The move has left many fans wondering what could have prompted such a drastic decision from the beloved couple.

Rumors have been swirling that the move may be a result of the recent controversy surrounding Ellen and allegations of a toxic work environment on her talk show. Some speculate that the couple may be trying to distance themselves from the negative press and start fresh in a new location.

Others believe that the move may be a reflection of their desire to lead a more private and secluded life away from the hustle and bustle of Hollywood. Whatever the reason, it is clear that Ellen and Portia are eager to cut all ties with the US and start a new chapter in their lives.

Only time will tell what the future holds for the couple, but one thing is for certain – their latest move shows that they are determined to make a fresh start and leave their past behind.

  • Kristen Bell’s 10 Best Movies And TV Shows

The best Kristen Bell movies and TV shows demonstrate how her unique abilities as a comedic actor have allowed her to cement a solid career and celebrated reputation in the genre. Born in Michigan in 1980, Kristen Bell has been an active performer since 1992 in theatrical productions, though she wouldn’t find herself in front of a camera until 1998 (albeit in an uncredited film role in the comedy-drama Polish Wedding).

Following this, Bell spent several more years on the stage, finally finding her way back to the small screen in 2003 in FX’s The Shield. It was 2004 that she got her big break thanks to landing the titular lead role in Veronica Mars, and from there her career exploded. The best Kristen Bell movies and TV shows may mostly be comedies, but she’s far from limited to one genre, and has displayed her capabilities across a variety of roles on both the big and small screens.

The overwhelming majority of the best Kristen Bell movies and TV shows are comedies, as it’s her ability to portray funny characters that has defined her career. This is why 2006’s Pulse, from director Jim Sonzero (with a script co-written by the legendary Wes Craven), stands out, as it’s one of her rare ventures into the realms of horror. It’s also noteworthy as it’s one of the first feature films in which Bell was cast in a central role.

Adopting the Kiyoshi Kurosawa J-horror of the same name, Pulse sees Kristen Bell’s Mattie Webber caught up in a series of strange supernatural phenomena that sees spirits attempting to return to the world of the living through the internet. While the movie itself was panned by critics, Bell herself gave an incredibly strong performance, and so, Pulse more than warrants its entry among the best Kristen Bell movies due to it showing her range is much wider than comedy.

The Woman In The House Across The Street From The Girl In The Window (2022)

    Kristen Bell Plays Anna Whitaker

Kristen Bell has had several successful collaborations with Netflix, such as 2024’s Nobody Wants This. Among them is the miniseries The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window (also commonly known as TWITHATSFTGITW). The dark comedy sees Kristen Bell take the lead role as Anna, a woman struggling with mental health and hallucinations who comes to convince herself that she’s witnessed a murder.

The show parodies many aspects of the kinds of thrillers and true-crime shows that Netflix has built a reputation for creating, and Bell manages to make the character of Anna incredibly funny without making her over-the-top or unbelievable. The comedic elements of TWITHATSFTGITW work incredibly well, though it never loses its central mystery either. It’s a series where nothing is as it seems, and Bell’s performance as Anna ties everything together incredibly well.

Kristen Bell gives a laugh-out-loud performance as Connie, and it’s this that marks Queenpins as one of the best of her more recent movies. It also stands out among the best Kristen Bell films as it shows how she’s matured as a performer, and how suited she is to playing older, middle-aged characters as her live-action appearances enter a new career phase. However, while it’s a comedic venture, Bell also gets to display her aptitude for more emotional moments thanks to Connie’s attempts to conceive through IVF and her trauma following a miscarriage.

At the time of writing, Kristen Bell has been shortlisted for several awards thanks to her performance in 2024’s Nobody Wants This, including a Critics Choice Award for Best Actress in a Comedy Series. She was also nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy. The Netflix romantic comedy series stars Bell as Joanne, an agnostic sex and dating podcaster who finds herself romantically drawn to a Rabbi, Adam Brody’s Noah Roklov.

Season 2 of Nobody Wants This has been greenlit by Netflix thanks to the show’s high level of critical acclaim, and season 1 of the series currently sits with a 94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. While it currently doesn’t have the cultural impact as some of Kristen Bell’s other TV shows like Veronica Mars, The Good Place, or Gossip Girls, future seasons of Nobody Wants This could change this.

The teen drama Gossip Girl ran on The CW from 2007 to 2012 and remains one of the most successful, and culturally impactful, original shows the network ever put out. While she didn’t appear on-screen, Kristen Bell was an essential ingredient and member of the Gossip Girl cast. Every episode would be peppered with narration from the enigmatic Gossip Girl, an unknown student at an Upper East Side high school who holds nothing back in their quest to ensure every piece of dirty laundry the students want to hide is aired publicly.

Kristen Bell provides the voice for Gossip Girl, narrating every episode. Bell is a celebrated voice actor known just as much for her vocal skills as she is for her live-action performances, and she brings these abilities to Gossip Girl with incredible results. This cements the series as one of the best Kristen Bell TV shows. She also made a cameo in the final episode as a fictionalized version of herself.

2016’s Bad Moms comes from directors Jon Lucas and Scott Moore, and features an ensemble cast of celebrated comedians such as Mila Kunis and Kathryn Hahn. Joining them to make up the lead trio is Kristen Bell as Kiki Moore, a stay-at-home mother of four. As the title suggests, Bad Moms is a comedy that focuses on a group of mothers who rebel against the expectations of society and their spouses – and it makes for one of the most hilarious roles of the latter stage of Kristen Bell’s career.

While it’s Mila Kunis as Amy who takes the central focus of the plot, Kristen Bell’s Kiki is arguably the funnier character. Not only does she share incredible chemistry with both Kunis as Amy and Kathryn Hahn as Carla, but her portrayal of the frazzled and beyond-stressed Kiki is brimming with authenticity – making it one of the best comedy movies Bell has so far appeared in and landing hers a nomination for Favorite Comedic Movie Actress at the 2016 People’s Choice Awards.

    Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2009)

    Kristen Bell Plays Sarah Marshall

2009’s Forgetting Sarah Marshall has become problematic in the years since its release thanks to being led by the now-controversial figure Russell Brand, but this doesn’t stop it from being counted as one of the best Kristen Bell movies. In the raunchy rom-com, Kristen Bell plays the titular Sarah Marshall, the ex-girlfriend of Jason Segel’s heartbroken composer Peter Bretter.

Peter decides to go on a vacation to forget about Sarah, only to discover – much to his horror – that she’s staying at the same resort with her new boyfriend, the rockstar Aldous Snow (Brand). Kristen Bell made the character of Sarah laugh-out-loud hilarious, and was nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy and Breakout Female Star at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards for her performance, alongside a joint-nomination for Best WTF Moment alongside Jason Segel at the MTV Movie Awards the same year.

    3

    The Good Place (2016-2020)

    Kristen Bell Plays Eleanor Shellstrop

Running on NBC from 2016-2020, The Good Place isn’t only one of the best Kristen Bell TV shows, but it also stands as arguably her most surreal. The fantasy-comedy series focuses on a group of recently deceased people who find themselves in the titular ‘Good Place’, which they’re led to believe is Heaven by the architect of their utopia, Michael (Ted Danson). Kristen Bell gives a hilarious performance as Eleanor Shellstrop, who realizes she’s ended up in a posthumous paradise due to an administrative error.

However, all is not what it seems, and Eleanor (along with the rest of the characters) finds out the Good Place may not be so good after all. The show was highly acclaimed, as was Kristen Bell’s performance. Bell was nominated for a slew of awards for The Good Place, including a Golden Globe nomination in 2019 for Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy.

    Veronica Mars (2004-2019)

Kristen Bell’s career has had several stages, and her first breakout role came when she took the titular lead in the UPN (and, eventually, The CW) teen noir mystery series Veronica Mars. Playing the young investigator brought Bell some of her earliest accolades, including a nomination for Best Actress on Television at the 2005 Saturn Awards, and Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series at the Satellite Awards the same year. She later went on to win a Saturn Award in the same category the following year.

As the titular lead character, Kristen Bell was the central focal point for the many twisting narratives that kept viewers hooked on Veronica Mars throughout all four seasons, and the 2014 movie spinoff. While she’s taken on many roles since, Veronica Mars remains the best Kristen Bell TV show so far, and one of the strongest performances of her career on both the big and small screens.

    Frozen (2013)

Of all the best Kristen Bell movies and TV shows, none have had as significant a cultural impact as 2013’s Frozen (and, by extension, 2019 sequel Frozen 2). Alongside Idina Menzel as Elsa, Kristen Bell voiced one of the most iconic Disney princesses of all time – Anna, who braves the snowy wasteland created by her sister to save both her and the kingdom of Arendelle.

Not only did Kristen Bell give a hilarious performance as Anna, she also sang some of the memorable musical numbers that ensured Frozen has become the most successful Disney franchise of the 21st century so far (such as “Do You Want To Build A Snowman”). No character the actor has portrayed so far has become anywhere near as instantly recognizable, and it’s this and her performance that cement Frozen as the best Kristen Bell movie or TV show.

  • New Netflix Shows and Movies in January 2025

Preston Mota and Betty Gilpin, American Primeval

    Netflix

New year, same overwhelming influx of Netflix shows and movies that you can’t keep up with. The world’s biggest streaming service is starting 2025 with a bang, headlined by the second season of The Night Agent, one of Netflix’s most-watched shows ever. This time, Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) is leaving the comfy confines of D.C. and going international on his next adventure.

Also coming in the month are the second season of the romance series XO, Kitty, the intriguing Japanese drama Asura, Season 2 of The Recruit, the British comedy special Cunk on Life, and the violent Western American Primeval. And for disturbing horror lovers, good news: Hereditary is returning to Netflix.

Here are our most anticipated Netflix shows and movies for the month, plus the full list of everything coming to and leaving Netflix in January.

    Cunk on Life (Jan. 2)

Idiotic British program presenter Philomena Cunk (Diane Morgan) returns to baffle academics with her buffoonery in Cunk on Life, the latest special from Black Mirror‘s Charlie Brooker. After musing about our planet in Cunk on Earth, which Netflix aired in 2022, Cunk will ponder the meaning of life while asking scholars some of the dumbest questions they’ve ever heard. Cunk on Earth was fantastic; this should also be a hoot. [Trailer]

    American Primeval (Jan. 9)

Macho director Peter Berg brings his macho sensibility to the Wild West with the incredibly macho American Primeval, a Western showing how dismal (and macho) the old American West once was. Seriously, this show is all about how horrible it was just to try to see tomorrow as the cowboys, Native Americans, the prospectors, the Mormons, the fugitives, the drunks, and even some naughty children all tried to get their piece of the pie. Expect shootings, stabbings, and scalpings, sometimes all at once. Betty Gilpin, Taylor Kitsch, and Shea Whigham star. [Trailer]

XO, Kitty Season 2 (Jan. 16)

The To All the Boys cinematic universe continues on with the second season of its TV spin-off XO, Kitty. Anna Cathcart returns as Kitty, the love-happy matchmaker who ran into a bunch of relationship problems in Season 1 as she enrolled in an international school in Korea. In Season 2, she’s single and ready to mingle! But only casually. Yeah right. [Teaser] [Everything to Know About XO, Kitty Season 2]

The Night Agent Season 2 (Jan. 23)

No one knew what The Night Agent was when it came out in 2023, but that’s not the case for Season 2. The debut season of Shawn Ryan’s thriller became Netflix’s seventh-most watched English-language show of all time, surprising just about everyone. Most details are under wraps, but in Season 2, FBI agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso), working toward becoming a full-fledged Night Agent, will travel to Thailand and New York City. [Teaser] [Everything to Know About The Night Agent Season 2]

  • The 1 Mistake That Could Ruin Wednesday Season 2 Has Already Become A Trend For Netflix Shows

Netflix could make one big decision with Wednesday season 2 that would undoubtedly drop viewership, and unfortunately, the likelihood of the divisive choice is high since it’s a recent trend. When the first show released on Netflix in November 2022, the show skyrocketed in the charts, becoming Netflix’s global most popular show of all time (via Tudum). Since then, fans have waited for the next season. Sadly, Wednesday season 2 has taken painfully long to make because of Jenna Ortega’s busy filming schedule and the 2024 Hollywood labor strikes.

In December 2024, the show finally wrapped up filming, but Netflix hasn’t provided fans with a release date. Wednesday season 1 took eight months between filming’s conclusion and the show’s release, so season 2 might come out in July or August 2025 – but that’s just an estimate. While fans have held on over the last two years, Netflix’s recent release schedule trend could threaten to alienate viewers who’ve remained loyal.

Wednesday Season 2 Releasing In Two Parts Would Be Very Frustrating After Such A Long Wait

The Second Season Of Wednesday Should Come Out All At Once

While Wednesday season 1’s ending is a compelling enough story potentially to bring fans back for season 2 after a long period of time, asking fans to come back for a season split in two is too much. If the Netflix series wasn’t as good as it is, there’s very little chance the hype would have lasted this long. Almost any other show would be doomed at this point.

    Related

10 Ways Wednesday Season 2 Is Already Different From Season 1

Wednesday season 2 is set to premiere sometime in 2025, and already, the mystery drama’s new installment boasts some exciting additions and changes.

Even in the best case, viewers would have to wait a month for the second half of the episodes, but many other shows include a few months between the parts. It would feel like a slap in the face to fans to wait around three years for the first half of Wednesday season 2 just to wait another two or three more months for the second half, especially when the option exists to have all the episodes at once. The show would need an epic mid-season cliffhanger to get viewers to return, but it would unquestionably ruffle feathers even then.

Why So Many Netflix Original Shows Are Being Split Into Two Or More Parts

Many Factors Contribute To Netflix’s New Trend Of Splitting Seasons

Netflix splitting original shows into two or more parts could occur because of a variety of factors. Firstly, the streaming giant is still recovering from the content gap caused by COVID-19 restrictions and the Hollywood strikes. The splits in TV shows also sometimes allow for longer seasons, which is Cobra Kai season 6‘s approach. Viewers might not need an entire season at once for shows with longer episode runtimes, with half a season providing hours of content. The multipart releases are also a compromise between the binge seasons that come out at once and weekly episodes.

2024 Netflix Shows Split Into Multiple Parts

    Outer Banks season 4

    You season 4

    Bridgerton season 3

    Emily in Paris season 4

Cobra Kai season 6 (parts 1 and 2 in 2024 and part 3 in 2025)

There’s also a financial benefit to releasing the show in multiple parts. When Netflix releases shows in numerous parts, viewers must stay subscribed for more than one month in order to see the second part rather than cancel the membership. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter why they split up the shows if the streaming giant can’t get fans on board. Wednesday has passionate fans who are willing to wait almost three years for a second season, so Netflix shouldn’t take advantage of the leniency they’ve already received.

Netflix has become known for producing hit shows that keep viewers coming back for more. However, there is one mistake that has already become a trend for Netflix shows, and it could potentially ruin the highly anticipated second season of “Wednesday.”

The mistake in question is the dreaded sophomore slump. Many Netflix shows have fallen victim to this phenomenon, where the second season fails to live up to the hype and excitement of the first season. This can be due to a variety of factors, such as rushed production schedules, creative burnout, or simply trying to replicate the success of the first season without bringing anything new to the table.

For “Wednesday,” the stakes are especially high. The first season was a critical and commercial success, with fans eagerly awaiting the next installment of the dark and twisted series. However, if the creators and producers don’t learn from the mistakes of other Netflix shows and avoid the sophomore slump, “Wednesday” could suffer the same fate.

To prevent this from happening, the creators of “Wednesday” need to take their time to craft a compelling and original story for the second season. They should listen to feedback from fans, but also trust their instincts and not try to please everyone. By staying true to the unique tone and style of the show, “Wednesday” has the potential to avoid the one mistake that could ruin its second season and continue to captivate audiences for years to come.
