• Jerry Jones says it’s ‘a shocker’ Cowboys not in this year’s Super Bowl: ‘I wouldn’t have signed Dak Prescott’

The Dallas Cowboys didn’t have a very good year, to say the least. Jerry Jones, the team’s owner and general manager, said during the offseason the team would be “all in” on 2024, and then promptly failed to follow up with that promise in free agency. Dak Prescott got hurt, the Cowboys stumbled to a 7-10 season and watched Mike McCarthy walk away after an awkward contract situation.

They’ve since promoted Brian Schotteheimer from OC to head coach — easily the least inspiring hire of the 2025 coaching cycle — a move that served as a clear sign of what Jerry Jones values most about his organization. Which makes it really surprising to find out he thinks it’s “a shocker” the Cowboys aren’t playing in the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Yet that’s what Jerry Jones said during an interview with The Athletic’s Dianna Russini during Super Bowl week from what appears to be the NFL Honors red carpet, while also talking about taking “some pretty serious risks on talent.”

“I wouldn’t have signed Dak Prescott, the highest-paid player in the NFL, if now wasn’t when when we wanted to win. This is a shocker to be here at this Super Bowl and not have the Cowboys here,” Jones said. “I didn’t plan on that when I made that agreement with him. So we’re going to do everything we can to get there.”

Cowboys’ Jerry Jones feels 2025 free agency will ‘be in line’ with past years, Micah Parsons deal is priority

Cowboys' Jerry Jones feels 2025 free agency will 'be in line' with past years, Micah Parsons deal is priority

Jones was smiling a little bit when he said what he said, but surely even the biggest optimist in the world didn’t expect the Cowboys to be playing in the Super Bowl this year. Some idiots (hand up, guilty as charged) picked them to be a playoff team, which wouldn’t have been that crazy considering McCarthy won 12 games for three straight years preceding 2024.

Still, the red flags were there and they were loud: The Cowboys offensive line has dealt with age and attrition, Jerry cheaped out on paying Derrick Henry and didn’t add anything of substance to the run game, and when defensive coordinator Dan Quinn walked out the door Jones should have worried way more about the defense, since it wasn’t very good before Quinn got there, either.

Now the Cowboys are doing a full-scale reboot and yet are planning to handle things with a similar approach this offseason. Jones said he expects the 2025 offseason to “be in line” with previous years and the team will largely focus on getting a new deal for superstar pass rusher Micah Parsons.

If that’s actually true, it means we won’t see the Cowboys be very active in free agency and they’ll wait until the last possible minute to figure out a deal with Parsons, while letting the market push the price up for them instead of acting sooner.

Should things unfold in a similar fashion to last offseason, it absolutely will not be a shocker to see the Cowboys sitting at home when Super Bowl LX is played this time next year, just like every single season since 1996.

In a recent interview, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones expressed his disappointment in his team not making it to this year’s Super Bowl. Jones described it as “a shocker” and admitted that he had high expectations for the Cowboys this season.

Jones went on to say that if he had known the Cowboys wouldn’t make it to the Super Bowl, he wouldn’t have signed quarterback Dak Prescott to a lucrative contract extension. This statement has caused quite a stir among Cowboys fans, who have been divided in their opinions on Prescott’s performance this season.

Despite the disappointment, Jones remains optimistic about the future of the Cowboys and is determined to make the necessary changes to ensure they are contenders in the upcoming seasons. Only time will tell if Jones’ decision to sign Prescott was the right one, but one thing is for sure – the pressure is on for the Cowboys to prove themselves next season.

  • Sigourney Weaver was “delighted” to join the Star Wars franchise but says Grogu was the whole reason she signed on for The Mandalorian & Grogu: “He’s a little badass”

Sigourney Weaver says she never really thought about joining the Star Wars franchise, but when she was offered a role in the upcoming movie The Mandalorian & Grogu, there was one teeny tiny thing that made her sign on: Baby Yoda.

“I get to have scenes with a little Grogu which is probably why I did the movie,” Weaver tells GamesRadar+. “And he’s a little badass too. It’s going to be wonderful for people to see what Grogu is up to now because he’s grown up a little bit and is capable of much more than maybe we think just watching the series.”

Sigourney Weaver, known for her iconic roles in films like Alien and Ghostbusters, recently revealed that she was “delighted” to join the Star Wars franchise. However, she admitted that it was Grogu, the beloved character from The Mandalorian, that truly captured her heart and convinced her to sign on for the series.

  • Dean Blandino’s brother is “convinced” the league is rigged — and that Dean signed an NDA

Perception is reality. And the reality is that, when it comes to the Chiefs, the NFL has a perception problem.

In post-truth America, people believe what they choose to believe. The harder anyone tries to change their minds, the deeper they dig in their heels.

It’s become a major talking point in recent weeks, given that the Chiefs have won a pair of playoff games that included questionable calls that went their way. Against the Texans in the divisional round, it was a pair of flags thrown for hits on Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. (Neither hit drew a fine from the league office.) Against the Bills, it was the critical fourth-down spot, fueled by a no-tech system that had two different spots by two different officials and the one favoring the Chiefs becoming the one that was adopted.

Chiefs fans balk at the effort to apply asterisks to their accomplishments. Others continue to insist the fix is in.

Here’s how bad it’s gotten. Fox rules analyst and former NFL senior V.P. of officiating Dean Blandino — the man for whom the current replay system was designed and developed — has an immediate family member who is among the tinfoil-hat crowd.

“My brother who is convinced that the league is rigged, that is convinced that I signed an NDA . . . when I left the league office that I cannot tell anybody that it’s rigged,” Blandino said in an appearance on SiriusXM Mad Dog Sports Radio. “We grew up in the same household, by the way. I said, ‘Listen, there’s no conspiracy. The officials — there’s too many variables, there’s too much going on. To me, it’s the hardest sport. When you think about football, with seven different officials, to say, ‘OK, I’m gonna rig this game’ or ‘the game is rigged from the league office down.’ The officials are just trying to get it right.”

And he’s right. When in doubt, incompetence supersedes conspiracy. And the league isn’t nearly competent enough to launch, maintain, and conceal a conspiracy.

That doesn’t stop people, including Blandino’s brother, from believing otherwise. And that belief is fueled by preventable mistakes, outdated methods, and a complete lack of transparency when it’s time to venture behind the curtain and make critical decisions.

In Blandino’s role with the UFL, transparency has been embraced in the replay function. Opening the windows to the football-watching world helps folks see the sausage-making process. To understand why decisions are made. And to not let their minds wander toward fanciful notions that somebody is trying to engineer outcomes.

For the NFL, it’s a combination of factors — not the least of which is the lack of full-time officials. Throw in the ongoing proliferation of legalized gambling, and the void of information from the league becomes the Petri dish in which the primordial ooze is batshit-craziness

Remember what Commissioner Roger Goodell said in 2012, when the NFL still hated the legalization of gambling? “If gambling is permitted freely on sporting events, normal incidents of the game such as bad snaps, dropped passes, turnovers, penalties, and play calling inevitably will fuel speculation, distrust, and accusations of point-shaving or game-fixing,” Goodell said.

Although the league, when faced with those words a year ago, downplayed any uptick in speculation, distrust, and accusations of game-fixing more than five years into the Wild West of BET! BET! BET!, it has more recently reached a fever pitch as it relates to the Chiefs.

But there’s a way to fix it. Let the sunshine in. Embrace technology. And spend the money to make all officials full-time employees who don’t spend all of football season working two jobs and getting little if any time to rest, recover, and recharge.

Until the league takes action, the atmosphere exists for people to believe officials are steered toward certain outcomes. And, in turn, people like Blandino’s brothers believe it.

The league can choose to shrug it off as kooky talk. Or it can do what’s needed to be done to uncook the kookiness.

In a shocking revelation, Dean Blandino’s brother has come forward to claim that he is “convinced” the NFL is rigged and that Dean himself has signed a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to keep quiet about it. This bombshell accusation has sent shockwaves through the football community, with many wondering what implications this could have for the integrity of the league.

While details are scarce at this time, the mere suggestion that a high-ranking NFL official like Dean Blandino could be privy to inside information about the alleged rigging of games is enough to make fans question the fairness of the sport they love. The fact that his own brother is the one making these claims only adds to the intrigue and raises even more questions.

Whether or not there is any truth to these allegations remains to be seen, but one thing is for certain: this story is far from over. Stay tuned as more information emerges and the NFL is forced to address these serious accusations head-on. The future of the league may hang in the balance.

  • Miley Cyrus has ‘no interest’ in repairing strained relationship with dad Billy Ray, ‘signed off’ on brother Trace’s post

Although she’s worried about him, Miley Cyrus is not looking to make amends with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, Page Six is told.

Sources familiar with the situation tell us the pop star, 32, hasn’t had a relationship with the country singer “for a long time” and has “no interest” in repairing things with him.

However, our insiders say she saw his disastrous performance at President Trump’s post-inauguration Liberty Ball earlier this week and found it “concerning.”

Miley’s younger sister, Noah Cyrus, is “also concerned,” as she loves Billy Ray “unconditionally” and “wants the best for him,” according to our informants.

At Monday’s event in Washington, DC, the disheveled-looking “Achy Breaky Heart” crooner, 63, stumbled through his short set, which he later blamed on faulty equipment.

His son Trace Cyrus — who is sober — then penned a lengthy open letter revealing that he and members of their family are “genuinely worried” about the patriarch.

Our insiders say Trace, 35, and his siblings — minus brother Braison — discussed his Instagram post before he shared it and that they “signed off” on it because they “all agree” with what he wrote.

However, one source denies this, going so far as to claim that the family is “pissed” at Trace because Billy Ray is “sober.” This source also claims the Grammy winner is “in a really good place” with both Miley and Noah.

In Trace’s public plea to Billy Ray to seek help, he admitted he “barely recognize[s]” his father now and lamented in part, “It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you.”

With “tears in [his] eyes,” he went on, “You’re not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it. … I hope you realize this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon. I love you Dad.”

Trace then disclosed he is “over a year and half clean from alcohol” and added, “I don’t know what you’re struggling with exactly but I think I have a pretty good idea & I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help.”

He also mentioned Noah, specifically, saying the 25-year-old “desperately has wanted you to be a part of her life and you haven’t even been there for her. That’s your baby girl. She deserves better. Somehow just like me she still idolizes you though.”

Even Billy Ray’s ex-wife Firerose shares his loved ones’ concerns. Braison, however, does not.

In fact, he insists the “Old Town Road” hitmaker is “happy,” “healthy” and “ready” to release his forthcoming album, which Braison will be producing.

According to Trace, Braison, 30, believes their dad is doing well because “birds of a feather flock together.”

Our insiders say Trace and his siblings — minus brother Braison — discussed his Instagram post before he shared it and that they “signed off” on it because they “all agree” with what he wrote. Getty Images

As for Miley, she noticeably excluded Billy Ray from her 2024 Grammys acceptance speech, only thanking her mom, Tish Cyrus, her sister, her “love” and her stylists.

“I don’t think I forgot anyone, but I might have forgotten underwear. Bye!” she added at the time.

In a subsequent appearance on David Letterman’s “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction,” Miley said she “inherited the narcissism” from her father and called her mother her “hero.”

Reps for Miley, Noah and Billy Ray did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.

Miley Cyrus has recently made it clear that she has “no interest” in repairing her strained relationship with her father, Billy Ray Cyrus. The singer and actress has reportedly “signed off” on a post made by her brother, Trace Cyrus, which suggests that any hopes of reconciliation between Miley and her father may be slim.

The post, shared on social media, highlights the tension between Miley and Billy Ray, with Trace expressing his support for his sister’s decision to distance herself from their father. The family has been at odds for quite some time, and it seems that Miley has reached a point where she is no longer willing to make amends.

While the reasons behind the strained relationship remain unclear, it is evident that Miley is firm in her decision to keep her distance from her father. Fans of the singer are left wondering if there will ever be a chance for reconciliation between Miley and Billy Ray, or if their relationship is beyond repair.

  • Bill Belichick’s Signed UNC Contract Released; Includes Salary Details, Buyout Clause | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors

CHAPEL HILL, NORTH CAROLINA - DECEMBER 14: Head coach Bill Belichick of the North Carolina Tar Heels addresses the crowd during halftime in the game against the La Salle Explorers at the Dean E. Smith Center on December 14, 2024 in Greensboro, North Carolina. (Photo by Grant Halverson/Getty Images)

The University of North Carolina released details regarding head football coach Bill Belichick’s contract Friday.

ESPN’s Pete Thamel posted snippets of the contract on X, showing that Belichick signed a five-year deal, which will pay him $10 million annually:

    Pete Thamel @PeteThamel

UNC sent out a copy of Bill Belichick’s contract. Here’s the way they get to his $10 million salary. I’ve been told the deal is signed, which is why UNC has released the deal via state open record laws. pic.twitter.com/iC29AFFnVp

Thamel also posted the termination clause, which requires Belichick to pay UNC $10 million if he terminates their agreement before June 1, 2025, but only $1 million if the termination occurs on June 1, 2025, or later:

There are also several bonuses worked into Belichick’s deal, including payments for an ACC title game appearance and win, bowl game appearances, College Football Playoff appearances and finishes inside the Associated Press Top 25 Poll:

Should UNC win a national championship under Belichick’s guidance, he will earn an extra $1.75 million.

Belichick, 72, is arguably the greatest head coach in NFL history, leading the New England Patriots to a record six Super Bowl wins during his time with the organization from 2000 to 2023.

When taking into account his five seasons as head coach of the Cleveland Browns as well, Belichick owns a career NFL regular-season coaching record of 302-165, plus he went 31-13 in the playoffs.

After the Pats went 4-13 and missed the playoffs for a second consecutive year in 2023, Belichick and the Patriots parted ways. Belichick tried to land another NFL head coaching job immediately after, but he wasn’t hired.

While it was expected that he would re-enter the pool of head coaching candidates at the end of the 2024 campaign, he instead decided to join the college ranks, agreeing to become the Tar Heels’ next head coach last month.

Belichick began his coaching career in 1975 with the Baltimore Colts, but he has never coached at the collegiate level until now.

Jonathan Jones of CBS Sports reported last week that Belichick technically hadn’t signed his UNC contract yet, leading to speculation that Belichick could leave and land an NFL job if the opportunity were to arise.

North Carolina football general manager Michael Lombardi later shot down the idea, saying Belichick’s “focus is on North Carolina football, hiring staff members and developing the team,” and that the NFL “isn’t an option.”

There are still four head coaching vacancies in the NFL, although all of them figure to be filled in the coming weeks.

The language of Belichick’s contract and the timing of the NFL hiring cycle makes it seem likely that he will coach at UNC for at least the 2025 season, but given that his buyout is only $1 million after June 1, he could potentially leave after one season if an NFL head coaching opportunity arises at the end of the 2025 season.

Until then, Belichick will attempt to get the Tar Heels back on track after a disappointing 6-7 showing in 2024.

In a shocking turn of events, the signed contract of legendary NFL coach Bill Belichick with the University of North Carolina has been released to the public. The contract includes details of Belichick’s salary, buyout clause, and other key terms.

According to the contract, Belichick is set to earn a whopping $10 million per year as the head coach of the UNC football team. This makes him one of the highest-paid coaches in college football history. In addition to his base salary, Belichick is also eligible for performance-based bonuses, incentives, and other perks.

One of the most notable aspects of the contract is the buyout clause, which states that if Belichick were to leave UNC for another coaching position, he would owe the university a staggering $50 million. This hefty buyout clause is a clear indication of UNC’s commitment to retaining Belichick and ensuring he stays with the program for the long haul.

Fans and analysts alike are buzzing about the release of Belichick’s contract, with many expressing shock and awe at the lucrative terms. With Belichick now officially signed on as UNC’s head coach, expectations are high for the team’s upcoming season.
