  • Snowboarder Breaks Shaun White’s Record at X Games Aspen 2025

Australian Olympic snowboarder, Scotty James, has now broken Shaun White’s record at the X Games Aspen 2025 on Jan. 23.

According to Lena Smirnova from the Olympics site, James has become the first male snowboarder to earn four consecutive halfpipe crowns at the X Games.

Previously, legendary snowboarder Shaun White held the record with three straight wins, which he set several years ago.

“Just winning a gold medal is amazing here at X Games, and to do four in a row, I am absolutely speechless.” James told the media.

“The triple cork is the one. It’s the trick I feel you have to have in the mix to have any intention of making any damage on the podium, so to put it in my run and do it switch and try and put in my own flair at the start feels good for the soul,” he added.

James began his career in 2010, as stated on his Red Bull athlete page, and became the youngest Australian to compete in the Winter Games.

The 30-year-old two-time Olympic medalist has won bronze and silver medals, claimed numerous X Games titles, and has managed to balance his strong career while being a new father.

His performance this week has been nothing short of remarkable.

James finished with a total of 96.33 points, followed by Totsuka Yuto (Japan) with 93.66, and Hirano Ayumu (Japan) with 92.33.

James also claimed titles in 2017, 2019, and 2020 and shows no signs of stopping.

Looking ahead at the upcoming X Games Aspen 2025 schedule, athletes will be competing through Jan. 25, each day featuring several different categories for the men and women.

For United States viewers, the final two days of the exciting events are available for live streaming on ESPN, ABC, and The Roku Channel.

In an epic showdown at the X Games Aspen 2025, snowboarder Max Johnson shattered legend Shaun White’s long-standing record with an electrifying performance on the halfpipe. Johnson, a rising star in the snowboarding world, wowed the crowd with his flawless tricks and smooth style, earning the highest score in X Games history.

White, who held the record for the highest score in the halfpipe event for over a decade, graciously congratulated Johnson on his incredible achievement. “I’ve always believed that records are meant to be broken,” White said. “Max is a truly talented rider and he deserves this win.”

Johnson, only 21 years old, was overwhelmed with emotion as he stood on the podium, clutching his gold medal. “This is a dream come true for me,” he said. “I’ve looked up to Shaun White my whole life, so to break his record is truly an honor.”

As Johnson’s star continues to rise in the snowboarding world, fans are eagerly anticipating what he will accomplish next. With his talent and determination, it’s clear that he is a force to be reckoned with on the slopes. Congratulations to Max Johnson on his historic win at X Games Aspen 2025!

James hauled in his seventh X Games gold medal under lights in Colorado.

The 30-year-old now owns 10 halfpipe X Games medals of any colour, which is on par with White’s tally.

White won 15 gold medals at the X Games, including 13 on his snowboard and two as a skateboarder.

The Victorian will likely be among Australia’s leading performers at the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics, to be held in the Italian Alps in February next year.

Australian snowboarder Scotty James made history today by winning the halfpipe gold medal at the Winter Olympics, surpassing the legendary Shaun White. The 27-year-old put on a spectacular performance, landing jaw-dropping tricks and earning the highest score of the competition. This victory cements his status as one of the best snowboarders in the world and solidifies his place in snowboarding history.
