  • Angelina Jolie surely ‘devastated’ over Maria’s Oscars snub as ‘Hollywood is team Brad Pitt’ | Hollywood

Angelina Jolie is reportedly devastated over being snubbed by the Oscars for her portrayal of Maria Callas in the biopic Maria, according to industry insiders. Despite dedicating months to mastering the opera singer’s role, including learning to sing, Jolie’s performance garnered a Golden Globe nomination but was passed over by both the SAG Awards and the Academy.

Angelina Jolie’s Maria ‘snubbed’ by Oscars

Angelina Jolie portrays the renowned opera singer Maria Callas in the biopic “Maria,” which focuses on the final seven days of Callas’ life in Paris in 1977. The film explores her reflections on her illustrious career, her struggles with vocal decline, and her complex relationships.

“Angelina will be devastated … look at all the press she did for the film — she wanted to get nominated,” a source close to the annual event told PageSix. “She did Jimmy Fallon, her first late-night show in over a decade. She even went to the Gotham Awards. She did all these magazine covers.”

“Maria” grapples with themes of identity, legacy, and the enduring power of art. It shows how Callas, despite her fame and talent, grappled with personal demons and the pressures of her public image.

    Is Hollywood team Brad Pitt?

After taking a break from acting, Jolie made her comeback in the biopic, but the Oscars didn’t roll out the red carpet. According to a Hollywood awards expert, the snub “wasn’t great for Angelina — or Netflix.” And while some speculate that it’s all tied to her very public split from Brad Pitt, a movie insider claims Hollywood’s still got a soft spot for Brad.

“This just shows that Hollywood is Team Brad,” the insider said. “The Globes showed that the foreign press loves her, but that’s not Hollywood. Nobody was going to go against Brad and give Angelina a vote … people just love Brad.”

After eight years of legal battles, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt finally put their divorce to rest in December. Although, Jolie’s performance was generally praised in the new film, according to an insider, the Oscars snub may have more to do with Hollywood politics than just the performance itself. As the industry welcomes new faces with first-time nominees, there’s a sense that Jolie’s journey could be weighed down by past headlines.

Jolie, who’s previously won an Oscar and been nominated for others, said her kids saw her vulnerability while filming the emotionally heavy biopic of opera legend Maria Callas

It was a tough night for Maria as she was snubbed at the Oscars, and sources say that Angelina Jolie is surely devastated by the news. With Hollywood seemingly being team Brad Pitt, it’s no surprise that Maria was overlooked for her incredible performance. Will this affect Angelina’s future in Hollywood? Only time will tell. #OscarsSnub #TeamBradPitt #AngelinaJolie

  • Angelina Jolie ‘will be devastated’ by Oscars snub for ‘Maria’ — ‘Shows that Hollywood is Team Brad’: source

Angelina Jolie is surely “devastated” over being snubbed by the Oscars after pouring her own pain into “Maria,” Hollywood insiders say.

Jolie, 49, spent months learning to sing for the role of Maria Callas — and said she made the opera singer’s anguish “personal to me.”

Although nominated for a Golden Globe, she missed out on a nod by both the SAG Awards and the Academy of Motion Pictures, which announced its contenders Thursday.

“Angelina will be devastated … look at all the press she did for the film — she wanted to get nominated,” a senior awards source said. “She did Jimmy Fallon, her first late-night show in over a decade. She even went to the Gotham awards. She did all these magazine covers.”

The star made her acting comeback in biopic “Maria” after taking a few years off, and a second Hollywood awards expert told Page Six that Jolie would undoubtedly be upset — adding the Oscars snub “wasn’t great for Angelina – or Netflix [which produced the film].”

A movie insider, meanwhile, insisted the snub comes down to Jolie’s very public divorce from Brad Pitt.

“This just shows that Hollywood is Team Brad,” said the insider. “The Globes showed that the foreign press loves her, but that’s not Hollywood. Nobody was going to go against Brad and give Angelina a vote … people just love Brad.”

Pitt and Jolie finally resolved their bitter divorce in December after eight years of intense legal fighting.

At the time, Jolie’s lawyer James Simon admitted that she was “exhausted” and trying to find healing for her family.

Another Tinseltown source, however, told Page Six, “The divorce is done, and yes, politics do come into play a little alongside the films and the performances. But the fact is that there are a lot of first-time nominees shows that we still have a healthy industry.”

Oscars’ Best Actress nominations went to Mikey Madison for “Anora,” Fernanda Torres for “I’m Still Here,” Demi Moore for “The Substance,” Karla Sofía Gascón for “Emilia Pérez” and Cynthia Erivo for “Wicked.”

Erivo is the only one of that group who has previously been nominated for an Academy Award, for 2019’s “Harriet.”

Jolie won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for “Girl, Interrupted” in 2000, and was nominated in the Best Actress category for “Changeling” in 2009. She was also received the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 2013.

Jolie’s sons Maddox, 23, and Pax, 21 — two of the six children she shares with Pitt — worked as production assistants on “Maria” and the star said they witnessed the toll the role took on her.

“The character [Callas] has a lot of pain and they’ve of course seen me go through a lot of things, but they hadn’t experienced me expressing a lot of the pain that usually a parent hides from a child,” Jolie told the BBC. “So they were there to witness some of that, but then we would hug or they would bring me cups of tea.”

She added that it was “a new way” of finding out how to be honest with her children about her feelings.

Written by “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight, the film focuses on Callas’ final seven days before her death in 1977s, when the legendary Greek-American soprano was living in Paris.

“Maria” received one Oscar nomination, for Best Cinematography for Edward Lachman.

Recently, news broke that Angelina Jolie has been snubbed for an Oscar nomination for her performance in the film ‘Maria.’ According to a source close to the actress, Jolie is said to be devastated by the news, feeling that her work in the film deserved recognition.

The source went on to suggest that this snub is further evidence of Hollywood’s bias against Jolie, especially in light of her highly publicized divorce from Brad Pitt. The source claimed that this snub shows that Hollywood is “Team Brad” and is not giving Jolie the credit she deserves for her talent and hard work.

Fans of Jolie have taken to social media to express their disappointment over the Oscar snub, with many calling it a major injustice. Despite the setback, Jolie’s fans continue to support her and hope that she will receive the recognition she deserves in the future.

It remains to be seen how Jolie will react to this snub, but one thing is for certain – her fans will always have her back.

  • Steve Kerr addresses perceived Jayson Tatum snub after Celtics rout

Steve Kerr drew the ire of Celtics fans this past summer after a controversial benching of Jayson Tatum during the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The drama surrounding the move has quieted down in recent months as the NBA season continued but resurfaced again on Monday. Cameras caught Celtics stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown appearing to give Kerr the cold shoulder after Boston’s blowout win over Golden State.

The Warriors coach did his best to downplay any apparent tension between him and Tatum however in an appearance Tuesday on 95.7 The Game in San Francisco. Despite the perceived on-court snub, Kerr spoke about his relationships with all Celtics with Team USA ties and how they connected postgame.

“Great, fantastic conversations and interactions with former USA guys, Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, Jaylen Brown I coached him in 2019 at the World Cup,” Kerr said. “It’s always really fun to see guys that you have a relationship with. I got a chance to visit with all those guys including Jayson (Tatum) after the game (Monday) night. It was great to see them and I’m always pulling for guys I have coached.”

Kerr went on to detail his interaction with the Celtics All-Star after Boston handed the Warriors their worst home loss in Kerr’s tenure as coach.

“We texted after the game in Boston a couple of months ago and we talked last night after the game,” Kerr said. “I will tell you that Jayson was an absolute dream to coach. During all that stuff, that so-called controversy, you might notice there wasn’t a single quote from Jayson. It was everybody else talking about it. Jayson’s an amazing guy and an incredible player and he couldn’t have handled it any better when he was there.

“The reality is it’s 2024, these guys are all in the spotlight. There’s so much pressure on them and that whole thing was overblown and also just a modern media type thing. He handled it beautifully, we won a gold medal, everybody’s happy. I don’t even think about it anymore to be honest with you.”

Tatum and the Celtics won’t see Kerr or the Warriors again this season after Monday’s win. The team continues their road trip in Los Angeles on Wednesday night against the Clippers.

In a post-game press conference following the Celtics’ dominant win over the Warriors, Steve Kerr addressed the perceived snub of Jayson Tatum in the NBA All-Star selections. Kerr highlighted Tatum’s exceptional performance in the game, showcasing his talent and impact on the court.

Kerr emphasized Tatum’s versatility and scoring ability, praising his offensive prowess and defensive skills. Despite not being selected as an All-Star this year, Kerr emphasized Tatum’s importance to the Celtics and recognized his potential as a future All-Star.

The coach’s comments shed light on the ongoing debate surrounding Tatum’s exclusion from the All-Star lineup and sparked discussions about the criteria for All-Star selections. Kerr’s acknowledgment of Tatum’s talent and contributions to the Celtics further solidified the young star’s status as one of the league’s rising stars.

Overall, Kerr’s remarks served as a reminder of Tatum’s undeniable talent and potential, fueling the ongoing conversation about his All-Star snub and solidifying his place as a key player in the league.

  • Michelle Obama’s Inauguration snub was always on MAGA’s radar: ‘She hates him,’ but Trump team ‘having a good laugh’

Michelle Obama skipped Jimmy Carter’s funeral on January 9, where she would have apparently been seated next to Donald Trump. Although her absence has been attributed to the “extended” Hawaii vacation, Obama divorce rumours also took flight recently. Amid all that back-and-forth speculative chaos, the former first lady is seemingly snubbing the incoming president of the United States yet again by skipping his swearing-in ceremony on January 20.

Trump team never expected Michelle Obama to attend Trump’s Inauguration

Meanwhile, the Trump team is believed to have foreseen her move from a mile away, claiming she “hates” the president-elect. Missing out on Carter’s funeral to possibly avoid sitting next to Trump is also being viewed as “her way of protesting” him, according to Page Six.

A MAGA source has since declared that those involved in planning the Inauguration Day schedules “are having a good laugh” because “they didn’t expect her to come anyway.”

Like the arrangement at the January 9 service that honoured America’s oldest living president, Barack Obama is expected to attend the 60th Inaugural Ceremonies alone. Despite this year’s snub, the former first lady was there for the Republican leader’s Inauguration in 2017.

However, she didn’t mince her words while sharing her experience of the day on ‘The Light Podcast’: “To sit on that stage and watch the opposite of what we represented on display — there was no diversity, there was no colour on that stage. There was no reflection of the broader sense of America.”

During the 2024 presidential campaign period, she again took a swing at Trump at the Democratic National Convention, saying, “For years, Donald Trump did everything in his power to try to make people fear us. See, his limited, narrow view of the world made him feel threatened by the existence of two hard-working, highly educated, successful people who happen to be Black.”

Democratic sources respond to Michelle Obama’s apparent snub

Shortly after the initial announcement of Michelle’s decision to skip the upcoming Inauguration Day, a source close to the Obamas’ circle told Page Six that she’s never been “fake” or “phony.” Revealing why she had possibly chosen not to attend the ceremony, they added, “She’s always been very deliberate about where and how she shows up. She showed up reluctantly for the election. They were united, but she doesn’t have to unify around [Trump]. She doesn’t have to say anything. Her absence speaks volumes.”

In the meantime, another Democratic source defended her choice by alluding to the Trumps missing out on the sitting president’s inaugural: “Donald Trump and Melania didn’t go to Joe Biden’s Inauguration and nobody cared. No one said anything.”

Other Dems leaders attending the Inauguration

On the contrary, former US presidents George W. Bush, Barack Obama, and Bill Clinton are expected at the Inauguration, alongside outgoing commander-in-chief Joe Biden. First ladies who’ve previously held the position, Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, and Jill Biden, are also poised to attend the event. NBC News has since also reported that although they will be there for the swearing-in ceremony, Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, and George W. Bush will not be there for Trump’s traditional inaugural lunch.

It has been widely reported that former First Lady Michelle Obama will not attend President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on January 20th, 2021. While her absence may come as no surprise to some, it has raised eyebrows among supporters of the incoming administration.

Many have speculated that Obama’s decision to skip the event is a pointed snub at outgoing President Donald Trump, whom she has openly criticized in the past. According to sources close to the Trump team, they are “having a good laugh” over the perceived slight.

“She hates him,” one insider said of Obama’s feelings towards Trump. “It’s no secret that she has no love for him, and this is just another way for her to show it.”

While Obama has not publicly commented on her decision to skip the inauguration, her absence is sure to be noticed by both supporters and critics alike. Some have praised her for standing up to Trump, while others have criticized her for not putting aside political differences for the sake of unity.

Regardless of the reasons behind her decision, one thing is clear: Michelle Obama’s inauguration snub was always on MAGA’s radar, and it has only served to further highlight the deep divides in American politics.

  • Trent McDuffie Pro Bowl Snub is More Costly Than You Might Realize

Trent McDuffie Pro Bowl Snub is More Costly Than You Might Realize

Star Chiefs CB Trent McDuffie was perhaps the biggest snub on the NFL’s Pro Bowl rosters released on Thursday, but fans might not realize just how costly the egregious decision is for the third-year player.

Despite being a First-Team All-Pro in 2023 and on the fast track to receiving the same recognition in 2024, he’s never made a Pro Bowl team on the original ballot. Since that’s the case, his fifth-year option on his rookie deal will only be worth roughly $12.7 million.

If McDuffie had made one Pro Bowl team, it would jump to $17.1. If he’d made two? McDuffie would be looking at over $20.

Not only did McDuffie take over as the Chiefs’ No. 1 cornerback after trading L’Jarius Sneed to the Titans, but he’s taken massive steps forward to be even better than he was a year ago.

He’s notched 59 tackles with 13 deflected passes, two interceptions, and a forced fumble while surrendering a mere 82.9 passer rating when targeted in coverage. McDuffie gave up a 94.4 mark a year ago despite having Sneed’s help. If he was worthy of being an All-Pro in 2023, he certainly still is now.

In a cruel way, it’s positive news for Kansas City’s salary cap situation. Most assume that the Chiefs want to agree to a contract extension with him ultimately anyway, but they’re now looking at approximately a $9 million savings because Pro Bowl voters have no idea what they’re doing.

McDuffie ranks as the second-best corner out of 219 players at Pro Football Focus. By any measure, he’s one of the best defensive players in the sport. To leave him off the Pro Bowl roster is laughable and unfortunately for the 24-year-old rising star, he’s directly paying for the grave mistake.

If he wins another Super Bowl and earns the contract extension he deserves, he likely won’t mind. Even still, McDuffie deserves better from the NFL and shouldn’t be punished because voters overlooked his fantastic season.

    More Kansas City Chiefs News:

The Pro Bowl is supposed to highlight the best players in the NFL, but every year there are inevitably snubs. One of the most glaring omissions from this year’s Pro Bowl roster is Washington Football Team cornerback Trent McDuffie.

McDuffie has been an absolute standout in his rookie season, consistently shutting down some of the league’s top receivers and making game-changing plays. His 58 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 12 passes defended are among the best in the league for rookie cornerbacks.

But despite his impressive stats and impact on the field, McDuffie was left off the Pro Bowl roster in favor of more well-known players. And while being snubbed from the Pro Bowl might not seem like a big deal on the surface, it could have significant consequences for McDuffie and the Washington Football Team.

First and foremost, being selected to the Pro Bowl can have a huge impact on a player’s reputation and future earnings potential. Pro Bowl selections are often used as a benchmark for determining a player’s value in contract negotiations, endorsements, and Hall of Fame consideration. By not making the Pro Bowl in his rookie season, McDuffie could be missing out on valuable opportunities to increase his profile and earn more money.

Additionally, the Pro Bowl is a valuable networking opportunity for players to connect with teammates, coaches, and other players around the league. By not being selected, McDuffie is missing out on the chance to build relationships that could benefit him both on and off the field in the future.

Furthermore, the Pro Bowl is a chance for players to showcase their skills on a national stage and prove themselves against the best in the league. McDuffie has already proven himself as a top cornerback in the NFL, but a Pro Bowl selection would have solidified his status as one of the elite players at his position.

Overall, the snub of Trent McDuffie from the Pro Bowl roster is more costly than many might realize. It not only diminishes his reputation and earning potential but also deprives him of valuable networking opportunities and the chance to showcase his skills on a national stage. Hopefully, this oversight will only fuel McDuffie’s fire to continue to prove himself as one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL.

  • Detroit Lions Kerby Joseph is worst Pro Bowl snub of all-time

Detroit Lions Kerby Joseph is worst Pro Bowl snub of all-time

Detroit Lions Kerby Joseph will not be part of the annual Pro Bowl games this year.

According to the Detroit Free Press, the talented safety will not be among the three NFC safeties to participate in the annual NFL competition and skills showdown.

The former third round pick leads the NFL in interceptions (nine) and recorded the most amount of fan votes at the free safety position.

Xavier McKinney, Camryn Bynum and Reed Blankenship all finished behind the 24-year-old in fan voting.

After the Lions defeated the 49ers on Monday Night Football, Dan Campbell expressed, “Man, he came up in a big way. Not just that, the picks, he had some critical tackles in this game, and he just really showed up for us.”

Despite the defense giving up more points than they would like the last four games, the defense’s mindset is to reload and work to execute Aaron Glenn’s game plan for the Minnesota Vikings this week.

“It’s to reload and go back to work and execute this plan that we have for these guys and find a way to get some takeaways and make plays,” Campbell said. “I mean, it’s really that simple and we came up with two critical takeaways in that game that were big for us. So, as with anything, are there things we want to clean up? Yeah, but (Aaron Glenn) AG’s got a good plan, guys will be ready for this. We know the challenge, I mean, we just talked about it.

The Detroit Lions fanbase is up in arms after star safety Kerby Joseph was not selected to the Pro Bowl this year. Many are calling it the worst snub in the history of the prestigious event.

Joseph has been a standout player for the Lions all season, leading the team in interceptions, pass breakups, and tackles. His impact on the field cannot be understated, and fans and analysts alike were shocked to see his name left off the Pro Bowl roster.

Despite his impressive stats and undeniable talent, Joseph was overlooked in favor of players from other teams with less impressive performances. The decision has left many scratching their heads and wondering how such a deserving player could be passed over.

Lions fans are rallying behind Joseph, taking to social media to express their outrage and disappointment. They are calling on the NFL to reevaluate the selection process and give Joseph the recognition he deserves.

In the eyes of many, Kerby Joseph’s absence from the Pro Bowl is a glaring injustice and a clear example of the flaws in the current system. The Lions and their fans will not soon forget this snub, and will continue to support Joseph as he proves himself as one of the best players in the league. #JusticeForKerbyJoseph
