  • Sophie Turner sends temperatures soaring in a purple bikini as she enjoys a lavish girls’ getaway at a £2,400-per-night resort in the Maldives

Sophie Turner showcased her sensational figure in a purple bikini as she posed for sizzling Instagram snaps during a lavish girls trip in the Maldives on Tuesday.

The actress, 28, revealed she is happier than ever as she spent quality time with her close pals during the vacation at the JOALI resort, which coasts a staggering £2,400 per night.

Sophie wowed in the purple two-piece which boasted a triangle top and matching bottoms as she posed on the picturesque beach.

She was all smiles as she shielded from the sun behind a pair of sunglasses and threw her arms in the air with joy while holding up a book.

The Game Of Thrones star revealed she went snorkeling with her three friends as they posed for a selfie on a boat wearing flippers and masks before jumping in the ocean.

In another picture, Sophie was seen swimming deep in the sea surrounded by small fish.

Later returning to land, the mother-of-two sipped on a glass of wine as she enjoyed a cooking class on the island.

Sophie looked every inch the part as she pulled on an apron over her red playsuit as she cooked food on the stove.

She was all smiles as she snapped a selfie while riding a bike with her friends along the wooden paths leading to the stilt hotel rooms over the sea.

In other pictures the beauty cooled off from the hot sun in the water with her friends before two girls were pictured play fighting.

Sophie wrote: ‘Who knew that all it takes to be happy is tea tasting, perfume making, breathwork, sound therapy, spotting dolphins, watsu, cooking classes, turtle snorkeling, massages and getting burnt on the beach with your besties in the Maldives at @joalibeing’.

It comes as Sophie looked back fondly at her romance with boyfriend Peregrine Pearson in an Instagram post shared earlier this month.

The star couldn’t contain her love for the 30-year-old aristocrat in her photos, which included a loved-up one in which she jumped into his arms while snapping a selfie.

The blonde beauty beamed as she wrapped her arms and legs around Peregrine, who is the heir to Michael Pearson, 4th Viscount Cowdray.

It comes as Sophie looked back fondly at her romance with boyfriend Peregrine Pearson in an Instagram post shared earlier this month

Peregrine — whom Sophie has expressed interest in starting a family with — was featured in several of her other photos from last year, including a cute image of the two sitting on the deck of a boat.

She has been dating Peregrine since December of 2023, just months after the end of her marriage to singer and actor Joe Jonas.

In November of 2024, insiders told DailyMail.com that Sophie was interested in one day having children with the British aristocrat.

‘Sophie is open to having kids one day even though that is not on the slate for right now.

‘She is in love with Peregrine, and she knows that he wants to be a father one day as this is discussed with couples,’ they said.

‘She loves her kids very much and is a great mom. She puts her children first which Peregrine admires her for.’

While she has an impressive net worth of several million dollars thanks to her popular films and shows, Peregrine’s wealth dwarfs hers. The heir is reportedly worth more than $224 million, thanks to his family’s connections.

Sophie and her ex Joe — with whom she shares daughters Willa, four, and Delphine, two — finalised their divorce settlement in September of last year, just over a year after he filed to divorce her.

Sophie Turner, best known for her role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, is currently living her best life in the Maldives. The actress recently shared some stunning photos of herself soaking up the sun in a purple bikini at a luxurious resort that costs a whopping £2,400 per night.

In the photos, Sophie can be seen lounging by the pool, sipping on cocktails, and enjoying the crystal-clear waters of the Maldives. With her radiant smile and killer curves, it’s no wonder she’s sending temperatures soaring wherever she goes.

The 25-year-old actress is reportedly on a lavish girls’ getaway with her friends, making the most of their time in paradise. From snorkeling in the coral reefs to indulging in spa treatments, Sophie and her squad are making the most of their time at the exclusive resort.

Fans have been quick to praise Sophie for her stunning beach looks and enviable vacation, with many commenting on how happy and relaxed she looks in the photos. Whether she’s exploring the island or simply basking in the sun, Sophie Turner is definitely living her best life in the Maldives.

Sophie Turner is living her best life!

The Game of Thrones star gave fans a peek into her dreamy Maldives getaway, sharing a series of sun-soaked snaps on Instagram.

One photo showed the mom-of-two standing on pristine white sand in a lavender bikini, arms raised, book in hand, showing off her toned abs against a backdrop of crystal-clear water.

Another shot captured her friends playfully wrestling in the sand, while Turner was seen cruising along a wooden deck on a bike. She also posted a few action shots, including one of her rocking snorkeling gear on a boat with her crew.

Turner also posed in a mini red dress under a khaki apron while sipping wine and cooking up a storm. She wrapped up the slideshow with a relaxed beachside moment, stretching out her legs and soaking up the sun.

“Who knew that all it takes to be happy is tea tasting, perfume making, breathwork, sound therapy, spotting dolphins, watsu, cooking classes, turtle snorkeling, massages and getting burnt on the beach with your besties in the Maldives at @joalibeing #whoknew #JoyOfWeightlessness,” she wrote in the caption.

While Turner was clearly enjoying her downtime, not everyone in the comments section was thrilled.

One critic asked, “Is she ever with her kids? Wow.”

“Your kids are gonna read this post in the future,” another chimed in.

“It doesn’t even seem like you’re a mom . Who’s taking your kids to school while you’re vacationing and making perfume? Or tucking them in at night? The nanny? Some people shouldn’t have kids,” a third added. “And anybody that wants to come at me saying, ‘diD yOu cOmMent tHat oN tHe daDs pAge,’ save it. Joe Jonas probably sucks as a parent even worse, and I will happily comment that on his page too.”

    “Your children??” another simply wrote.

Fans pressed Sophie Turner on why she hasn’t been sharing any photos of her kids on social media. @sophiet/Instagram

But not everyone was on board with the parent-shaming.

“Because she doesn’t post them? Are you asking the dad that, or are only women supposed to not have a life outside their kids?” one fan clapped back.

“Why do you even care tho! There’s too many creeps/pedos on the internet,” another pointed out.

“Ask Joe if he is with his kids,” one user suggested, while another wrote, “She doesn’t post her kids. She never has. Quit assuming things about her based on a few pictures.”

The post comes four months after Turner’s divorce from Jonas was finalized in September 2024, nearly a year after he filed for dissolution of marriage , citing an “irretrievably broken” relationship.

Since her divorce, the Dark Phoenix star has faced criticism for being painted as a party girl and an absent mom — but she insisted that’s not the case.

“I think if articles like that had come out 10 years ago, there would have been a very different response,” she told Harper’s Bazaar , while thanking fans for having her back. “But it was really refreshing to see people not falling for a very misogynistic approach to what was going on in my life.”

The mom-of-two has faced harsh parent-shaming, particularly following her divorce from Joe Jonas. MEGA

“But even if I was going out and whatnot , my kids weren’t with me, they were with their dad,” she continued. “And even if they had been with me, you’re allowed a Saturday night, especially as a mother. I mean, my god, there’s no one on the planet that deserves a glass of wine at the end of the day more than a mother!”

Despite ongoing scrutiny, Turner and Jonas remain focused on their daughters , Willa and Delphine .

“After a productive and successful mediation, we have agreed that the children will spend time equally in l oving homes in both the U.S . and the UK. We look forward to being great co-parents,” the former couple said in a joint statement in 2023 after settling their custody battle.

In October 2024, just one month after finalizing the divorce, the Survive alum shared how she and Jonas are managing their new family dynamic.

“We’re co-parenting, and I think we’re doing pretty great at co-parenting together,” she said. “We’ve been through a lot this year, and it takes time to repair what’s happened, but I’ll do anything to make sure my kids feel like they have a mum and dad that can always be there for them, together or apart.”

Sophie Turner, best known for her role as Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones, recently took to Instagram to share some stunning photos from her “bestie” getaway. The actress flaunted her toned tummy in a skimpy bikini, leaving fans in awe of her incredible physique.

In the photos, Sophie can be seen soaking up the sun on a luxurious yacht, surrounded by crystal-clear blue waters. Her bronzed skin glistens in the sunlight as she strikes a pose for the camera, exuding confidence and beauty.

Fans and followers were quick to shower Sophie with compliments, praising her for her dedication to fitness and her enviable figure. Many commented on how happy and relaxed she looked, enjoying some well-deserved time off with her friends.

It’s clear that Sophie Turner is living her best life, and we can’t help but be inspired by her carefree attitude and stunning beach vibes. Here’s to more bikini-clad getaways and sun-soaked adventures for this talented actress and her besties! #SophieTurner #BikiniGoals #BestieGetaway

  • Sophie Thatcher outshines overfamiliar horror

When Sophie Thatcher made a cameo as a makeup artist in Ti West’s trilogy-capping slasher movie MaXXXine, it felt like a nod to an up-and-coming scream queen, despite the fact that Thatcher had only appeared in a handful of other movies. Her seeming destiny derived less from the cultural imprint of The Boogeyman than Thatcher’s whole deal on Yellowjackets, the horror TV series where she plays a particularly angsty and troubled member of a girls’ soccer team stranded in the wilderness after a plane crash. As that show’s Natalie, and just in general around her piercing eyes, Thatcher has the vibe of a horror heroine who might actually watch horror movies—possibly with gravely serious interest, rather than the trivia-trading mirth of a Scream character. Of course she would do some horror-movie makeup first, at home in the slightly seedy atmosphere. Sure enough, Thatcher soon turned up in last fall’s A24-branded horror thriller Heretic, and now stars in Companion, sold as a companion piece of sorts to the horror breakout Barbarian.

That movie’s writer-director Zach Cregger produced this one, which is written and directed by Drew Hancock. Like Cregger, Hancock has a background in TV comedy—he wrote on Surburgatory; he’s directed for Tenacious D—and brings along a mischievous energy that leaves his movie feeling, at times, as much like a bloody farce as a traditional genre play. Thatcher plays Iris, a young woman accompanying her extremely Josh-y boyfriend Josh (Jack Quaid) on a weekend-in-the-woods getaway with two other couples: Kat (Megan Suri) and Sergey (Rupert Friend), and Eli (Harvey Guillén) and Patrick (Lukas Gage). Josh and Iris meet cute at the supermarket in the opening scene, and Thatcher makes a woman who should be too good to be true—wide-eyed, beautiful, affectionate, attentive—seem achingly sincere.

There is, naturally, a reason that Iris has such a dreamy façade coupled with a dreamlike devotion. There’s also a reason that Kat, in particular, looks askance at her, a skepticism that Iris has sensed in the past. (Turn back now if you want to maintain a teaser-trailer level of plot purity; keep going if you can stand a full-trailer revelation that occurs in the first 30 minutes that cannot be ignored in any serious discussion of the movie.) Iris is not precisely human. She is an extremely lifelike robot—essentially an advanced sex doll capable of providing the full girlfriend experience. Capable, actually, of providing even more than that, especially once her settings are strategically adjusted.

To say much more really would venture into spoiler territory, but it shouldn’t ruin anyone’s sense of discovery to note that Thatcher’s performance remains a highlight throughout the film, just as it did in the similarly winding Heretic. In that movie, she played a religious convert trying to balance her serious devotion with her own, perhaps savvier instincts as a woman. Iris the robo-girlfriend has an arguably similar dilemma: She has her programming, yes, yet perhaps a creation that advanced simply can’t be as pliant as its partner-slash-owner needs it to be, especially when she’s faced with another form of hard-wired programming called the stupid human male.

Thatcher’s two big horror movies so far, though, have a way of calling attention to their own cleverness, which in turn accidentally reveals the limits of that cleverness. In the case of Companion, it may not actually be there at all. The film draws its own comparisons to Barbarian, even without the ad hook: It’s also a relatively small cast, in a humor-laced genre picture commenting on discomfiting relationship power dynamics, largely but not entirely set in and around a significant piece of real estate unfamiliar to many of the lead characters. Fair, then, to point out a major difference, and not a flattering one: When Barbarian unveiled a twist, it would require a full reorientation in time, character focus, and daisy-chained thematic concerns; the movie had a giddy unpredictability. When Companion attempts the same sort of twists—turns, really, because they don’t fully recontextualize what’s come before—they’re almost too easy to roll with. Good for a laugh, sure, and able to keep Hancock’s story moving along. But they don’t pierce the screen with audacity, or even hold much shock value. Befitting Iris’ true nature, and unfairly to Thatcher’s performance, the movie often feels like a second-rate carnival ride populated by automatons.

The filmmakers seem to sense that they should be providing more—that Josh, for example, should at least be the second-least programmatic character on screen. Maybe he is by default, and yes, Quaid knows how to put a sweet face on some questionable, entitled behavior. That’s just it, though: Companion’s observations about relationship power dynamics are mostly just Comedy Ex Machina with the faintest hint of Her, neutered with a very Big Studio approach to inherently kinky material. (For the most part, avoiding sexuality as much as possible.) Hancock is more assured with sight gags—Iris slipping out of her captivity in the background of a shot is laugh-out-loud funny—than sci-fi-horror provocation or “satirical” affirmation of social truths, which amount to Companion arriving last on the scene, ready to destroy already-eviscerated Nice Guy desperation. The ongoing sight of a blood-soaked Thatcher finding herself through violent confrontations, essentially figuring out on the fly whether she’s a Terminator or a Final Doll, is diverting enough. Her melancholic presence hints at the trippier, more genuinely unsettling horror movie this could have pivoted into. It’s also a reminder of how facile the rest of the movie really is.

    Director: Drew Hancock
    Writer: Drew Hancock
Starring: Sophie Thatcher, Jack Quadi, Megan Suri, Harvey Guillén, Lukas Gage, Rupert Friend
    Release Date: January 31, 2025

Sophie Thatcher, known for her standout performances in films like “Prospect” and “When the Street Lights Go On,” once again proves her talent in the horror genre. In her latest film, Thatcher outshines the overfamiliar tropes of the genre with her captivating portrayal of a young woman navigating a terrifying situation.

Thatcher’s ability to convey vulnerability, strength, and resilience simultaneously is truly commendable. She brings a depth and authenticity to her character that elevates the film beyond its traditional horror elements.

While the film may rely on certain horror clichés, Thatcher’s performance breathes new life into the genre. Her nuanced portrayal keeps viewers on the edge of their seats, invested in her character’s journey and rooting for her survival.

With each new role, Sophie Thatcher continues to prove herself as a versatile and talented actress, capable of shining in any genre. Her performance in this latest horror film is no exception, solidifying her as a rising star in Hollywood.

  • Sophie Thatcher & Jack Quaid in Sci-Fi Thriller

“There’ve been two moments in my life when I was happiest. The first was the day I met Josh. And the second was the day I killed him.”

Those lines are uttered at the beginning of the new sci-fi-tinged thriller written and directed by Drew Hancock, and they also appear in the film’s trailer. It’s as good an opening as anything ever written by Dashiell Hammett or Raymond Chandler, and it instantly signals that Companion is going to be a cut above your average suspenser.

    Companion

    The Bottom Line

    Deliciously twisted.

    Release date: Friday, Jan. 31
Cast: Sophie Thatcher, Jack Quaid, Lukas Gage, Megan Sun, Harvey Guillen, Rupert Friend
    Director-screenwriter: Drew Hancock

    Rated R,
    1 hour 37 minutes

The storyline revolves around a delicious plot twist that the film’s trailer unfortunately gives away in wanton fashion, so my presenting a spoiler alert seems a bit superfluous. But here it is anyway; the less you know about Companion going in, the better. So, if you want to maximize your enjoyment, best stop reading now.

Still here? So be it, but I’ll try not to give away too much. The film begins with Iris (Sophie Thatcher, Yellowjackets) and Josh (Jack Quaid, The Boys) having a meet-cute in a supermarket. Zip forward to when they’re now a couple, spending a weekend with some friends at what was supposed to be a remote cabin in the woods that turns out to be the palatial digs of shady Russian businessman Sergey (Rupert Friend, enjoyably relishing the thick accent). The other guests are Josh’s friend Kat (Megan Suri, It Lives Inside), now Sergey’s girlfriend, and longtime gay couple Eli (Harvey Guillén, What We Do in the Shadows) and Patrick (Lukas Gage). They all settle in to enjoy the well-stocked home and the gorgeous nearby lake.

That is, until Sergey turns out to be even more of a creep than he initially seemed and sexually assaults Iris, who stabs him to death in self-defense. And that’s when the real plot kicks in, with the revelation that Iris is actually a “companion” robot (one with benefits) and the get-together is actually an elaborate plot devised by Josh and Kat to rob Sergey of the millions in cash stored in his safe.

The film gets even loopier from there, with multiple complications ensuing as Iris demonstrates that she’s no mere docile appliance but rather more than capable of thinking for herself, at least when Josh isn’t programming her via his cell phone. The film delivers even more deliciously nasty surprises along the way as the body count continues to rise.

This is the debut screenplay of Hancock, with the film originally supposed to be directed by horror filmmaker-on-the-rise Zach Cregger, responsible for the surprise hit Barbarian (that film’s producers are involved here as well), who graciously stepped aside to let Hancock take the helm. The tyro director steps up to the plate beautifully, delivering an ingenious, fast-paced horror-thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat while also featuring generous doses of mordant humor. As with the best films of its type, Companion works on more than a surface B-movie level, providing sly satirical commentary about power dynamics in romantic relationships to which more than a few audience members will be able to relate.

Thatcher, a scream queen in the making (she also starred in 2023’s The Boogeyman), delivers a terrific turn in the central role, fully convincing as both human and robot and making her artificial character’s struggle to survive sympathetic. Quaid is equally good as the seemingly perfect boyfriend who turns out to be the villain of the piece, investing his portrayal with a disarming charm, while Guillén and Gage provide sterling support as the sweet couple whose relationship is not quite what it seems.

A potential sleeper hit that belies January’s reputation as a cinematic dumping ground, Companion marks writer-director Hancock as a true talent to watch.

Women’s Ashes 2024-25 – Sophie Molineux ruled out of Ashes, Georgia Voll included

Allrounder Sophie Molineux has been ruled out of the multiformat Ashes series due to a knee injury that will require surgery while captain Alyssa Healy remains unsure whether she will keep wicket due to her ongoing knee problem.

Molineux, a left-arm spinner, managed a knee issue through the WBBL, where she captained Melbourne Renegades to a maiden title, and the problem flared again after the ODI series against India. Molineux was ruled out of the recent trip to New Zealand and now faces a further spell on the sidelines.

“Sophie Molineux will undergo left knee surgery next month, following that we will provide further updates on an anticipated return date,” team physiotherapist Kate Beerworth said.

One of the key issues for Australia to resolve ahead of the Ashes will be whether Healy is able to keep wicket having handed the gloves to Beth Mooney in New Zealand. Healy has been included in the Governor-General’s XI squad for a 50-over warm-up game against England on January 9 at North Sydney Oval which she said would be good test for her knee.

“That’ll be a great opportunity for me to take the gloves for a little bit and see how everything’s progressing,” Healy told reporters at the MCG. “I can’t really give you any more information than that. It’s kind of play it by ear at the moment to see how everything pulls up.

“But I did thoroughly enjoy running around the field in New Zealand. So if that’s the option and is less disruptive to our side, then that could be the way moving forward. But the aim is to take the gloves and hopefully I can do that.

“Having an angry joint in there and flaring that up, and knowing the really tight schedule with the Ashes as well, probably managing that and not wanting to blow it up too much that it’s going to affect my ability to play at all. So that’ll be the real test, I think, in the next 10 days, moving into the series as to how that pulls up, how it responds to keeping again, and we’ll just assess as we go.”

Georgia Voll, who made a stunning start to her international career against India, with 173 runs in three ODIs including a century, has been included for the one-day and T20I series which form the first two parts of the Ashes. Grace Harris will join for the T20Is at the SCG, Canberra and Adelaide.

“It was pleasing to see Alyssa Healy return to action against New Zealand and looked in good touch, along with a number of batters continuing their strong form on from the recent series against India,” national selector Shawn Flegler said.

“Whilst Georgia Voll didn’t play against New Zealand, she’s made a brilliant start to her international career and will be a strong option with the bat if required in her debut Ashes series. The bowling group provides plenty of variety which will be important against a strong England batting line up.”

A squad for the day-night Test at the MCG in late January will be named in the coming weeks.

“I think you look at the way we’ve probably shaped up in Test cricket over the last couple of seasons, it’s looked a little bit different to what we’ve done in the white-ball format,” Healy said. “So there is some reasoning as to why that Test squad hasn’t been announced, and we’ll probably look at that over the next few weeks, just to see where all the bowlers in the domestic cricket are at and their loads and how they’re going to prepare for a Test match.

“Knowing it’s pink ball, knowing it swings a little bit more, and what the conditions are going to be like, I think there’s a few players around the country at the moment that could stick their hand up for a baggy green which I think is really exciting.”

The Ashes starts with the first ODI at North Sydney on January 12 followed by matches at Junction Oval in Melbourne and Hobart.

Meanwhile, legspinner Georgia Wareham has also been called into the Governor-General’s XI squad in place of fast bowler Darcie Brown to give Wareham more game time ahead of the Ashes having only featured in one of Australia’s last six ODIs where she wasn’t required to bat or bowl.

The Women’s Ashes 2024-25 series just took an unexpected turn as Sophie Molineux has been ruled out of the upcoming matches. However, Australian fans will be pleased to know that rising star Georgia Voll has been included in the squad.

Molineux, a key player in the Australian team, has unfortunately suffered an injury that will prevent her from competing in the Ashes series. This is a big blow for the team, but they are determined to make the best of the situation.

On the bright side, Georgia Voll has been called up to fill Molineux’s spot in the squad. The talented all-rounder has been making waves in domestic cricket and is sure to bring her A-game to the Ashes series. Fans can expect some thrilling performances from Voll as she looks to make a name for herself on the international stage.

With Voll’s inclusion, the Australian team is still looking strong and ready to take on their rivals in the upcoming matches. The Women’s Ashes series is sure to be a thrilling contest, and with Voll in the mix, anything can happen. Stay tuned for all the action as the teams battle it out for Ashes glory.
