  • Mayim Bialik Wasn’t Asked to Join ‘Big Bang Theory’ Spinoff — But Would She Return?

The Big Bang Theory has a spinoff in the works — but has Mayim Bialik been offered a chance to reprise the role of Amy?

“I haven’t been contacted,” Bialik, 49, exclusively revealed to Us Weekly while promoting her guest spot on former costar Melissa Rauch‘s NBC show Night Court. “I’ve seen what’s been announced and I think that’s where a lot of people’s knowledge of it is right 1737174856 — me being one of them.”

Bialik is excited to find out more, adding, “These characters were so iconic and so significant to people. [Creators] Chuck [Lorre] and Bill [Prady] really created a world of characters that people want to know about and follow up on. So, I’m very flattered and I would be very flattered if I am contacted.”

Despite not getting an offer yet, Bialik would jump at the chance to play Amy again.

What to Know About Max’s ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Spinoff Series: Returning Cast Members and More

“I love being known as that character and I love what it means to people. So for me, it would be a thrill to be part of it in any way,” she noted. “It was a really, really fun experience to be part of that [during my guest appearance with Jim Parsons] on Young Sheldon. I also get to interact with [creators] Steven [Molaro] and Steve [Holland] and a lot of our writers and producers, so it’s a whole world that I still feel very connected to.”

The Big Bang Theory aired from 2007 to 2019 and starred Parsons, 51, Kaley Cuoco, Johnny Galecki, Simon Helberg, Kunal Nayyar, Bialik and Rauch, 44, as a group of friends made up of scientists and their significant others. During its run, the CBS comedy won 10 Emmy Awards and spawned prequel shows Young Sheldon and Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage.

    Mayim Bialik, Jim Parsons CBS

Warner Bros. Television currently has a spinoff in development that would air on their streaming service Max if picked up to series. Brian Posehn, Lauren Lapkus and Kevin Sussman have been tapped to headline the show, which would have them reprising their roles from the original series.

While fans wait for more news, they can see some Big Bang Theory reunions between the cast members on shows such as Night Court. During the Tuesday, January 14, episode of the NBC series, Bialik played an exaggerated version of herself.

Which ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Stars Have — And Haven’t — Appeared in the Spinoff Shows?

“I left the creative [details] up to Melissa when she asked if I would be interested in coming on. I literally said to her, ‘Whatever you want, I’m happy to do it.’ That’s just out of a sense of comradery and support for her and our friendship,” Bialik told Us. “I am also just really proud of everything that she’s created. I just was happy to support — and I’m also a fan of Night Court. When I was little, I wasn’t allowed to watch it because it was naughty and had some racy language.”

Bialik got to have a lot of fun while sharing the screen with Rauch.

“Melissa asked how I feel about this notion of playing a twisted version of myself. I said I’ll be as silly as you want and as kooky as you want. Melissa was also drawing on some of our actual story where she was a Blossom fan, and when we started working together on The Big Bang Theory, she revealed it,” she recalled. “I liked the idea of toying with this and art imitating life.”

While discussing the opportunity, Bialik explained the benefits — and challenges — of playing herself.

‘The Big Bang Theory’ Cast: Where Are They Now?

“The advantage is there’s a certain amount of ease that comes with getting to play yourself. You’re not creating a character. I know the backstory because it’s mine,” she shared. “But in terms of the disadvantages, it’s hard — especially if you’re playing an exaggerated version. The producers have to wonder like, ‘Oh, is she afraid that people will think this is what she’s really like?’ Or like, ‘What’s that exaggerated version gonna be like?’”

She concluded: “But I don’t see it as a huge impediment. It’s definitely a challenge to try and stretch outside of playing yourself but also playing an exaggerated version of yourself.”

New episodes of Night Court air on NBC Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m. ET and are available to stream on Peacock the next day.

The Big Bang Theory may have come to an end, but fans were thrilled to hear about the upcoming spinoff series centered around Sheldon Cooper’s childhood. However, one key cast member was notably absent from the announcement: Mayim Bialik, who played Amy Farrah Fowler on the original show.

In a recent interview, Bialik revealed that she was not asked to join the spinoff series, titled “Young Sheldon.” Despite this, she expressed interest in potentially returning to the Big Bang Theory universe in the future.

“I was not approached about joining the spinoff, but I would never say never to returning to the Big Bang Theory world,” Bialik said. “I had such a wonderful time working on the show and I have a lot of love for the character of Amy. If the opportunity presented itself, I would definitely consider it.”

Fans of the show were quick to express their disappointment that Bialik wasn’t included in the spinoff, with many hoping to see her reprise her role in some capacity. Whether or not she will return remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure: Mayim Bialik’s portrayal of Amy Farrah Fowler will always hold a special place in the hearts of Big Bang Theory fans.

Now that “Yellowstone” has wrapped up its final episodes, Taylor Sheridan and the crew of the hit Western are shifting their focus to Michelle Pfeiffer’s “The Madison.”

Christina Voros, executive producer on “Yellowstone,” told The Hollywood Reporter the crew has walked away from the main series and is putting its efforts into the new spinoff.

“The team that I’ve been working with has moved from ‘Yellowstone’ into ‘The Madison,’ so I know that new show is happening, and Taylor is excited about writing it,” Voros said in December.

There were reports season 6 of “Yellowstone,” starring Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, is not off the table.

Below is a look at everything to know about Sheridan’s latest series, “The Madison.”

    ‘The Madison’

Pfeiffer is the latest star to join the “Yellowstone” universe.

The 66-year-old actress will lead the hit flagship series’ spinoff show “The Madison,” which she will also executive produce, Variety reported.

Pfeiffer confirmed the casting news in a post she shared on her Instagram in August.

“This cats out of the bag. Excited for this! #Madison,” she captioned her post.

Sheridan will pen “The Madison,” which will follow a family of New York City natives who live in the Madison River valley of central Montana, according to the Paramount Network, via Variety.

The network described “The Madison” as a “heartfelt study of grief and human connection.”

Is ‘The Madison’ a ‘Yellowstone’ spinoff?

Although the upcoming series is considered a “spinoff” of “Yellowstone,” Voros told Variety this series is different from the original Western, which starred Kevin Costner.

“It’s such a different story. The common ground is the landscape,” she told the outlet in November.

“The Madison” will reportedly be very different from the Kevin Costner-led “Yellowstone.” (Paramount Network)

“We are in Montana, but it is seen through a completely different lens. So, it feels like another facet of this cut stone that has been polished. There are parallels in the scope of landscape and a human being’s place in that space, but it’s coming at it from a completely different point of view.”

    The cast

In August, Paramount announced Pfeiffer would take the lead role in “The Madison.”

“Michelle Pfeiffer is a remarkable talent who imbues every role with emotional depth, authenticity and grace. She is the perfect anchor to the newest chapter of the ‘Yellowstone’ universe, ‘The Madison,’ from the brilliant mind of Taylor Sheridan,” Chris McCarthy, Paramount Global co-CEO and president and CEO of Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studios, said in a statement to Variety at the time.

In August, The Hollywood Reporter revealed Matthew Fox would star alongside Pfeiffer.

Adams was asked by TVLine in October about the impressive cast on “The Madison,” and the actor said, “Yes — and I have no idea what I’m allowed to say about that show. So, I’m going to say absolutely nothing except ‘yes’ to what you just said.”

Elle Chapman and Beau Garrett will star as Pfeiffer’s daughters, Paige and Abigail. Adams will star as Russell McIntosh, Paige’s investment-banker husband.

Chapman took to Instagram in August to share the news she had joined “The Madison” and wrote, “I guess dreams really do come true.”

    Is Matthew McConaughey involved?

According to Variety, “The Madison” is the show that was previously slated as “2024.”

It was previously reported that Matthew McConaughey would lead a “Yellowstone” spinoff.

Last fall, it was announced Sheridan’s television universe was expanding with two new shows, initially called “2024” and “1944.” The spinoffs join “Yellowstone” prequels “1923” starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren, which is releasing its second season in February 2025, and “1883,” starring Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, which has one season available for streaming.

Since reports surfaced that “2024” had become “The Madison,” it appears McConaughey’s role in Sheridan’s television world is on pause.

There have been no reports of him signing on to “The Madison” or any other potential “Yellowstone” spinoff.

    ‘The Madison’ release date

There is no set release date for “The Madison,” but Deadline reported that production was slated for late August in Montana, and a 2025 premiere date is expected.

Based on Pfeiffer’s Instagram posts, it appears filming is underway. The actress shared a series of photos in October with the caption, “Landscapes from beautiful Montana.”

To ring in the new year, Pfeiffer posted a video that included photos of her with some of her “The Madison” co-stars, as well as shots of the cast filming in Montana.

  • Two streaming giants ready to go to war with BBC for Gavin & Stacey spin-off by offering multi-million deals

Two streaming giants ready to go to war with BBC for Gavin & Stacey spin-off by offering multi-million deals

TWO of the biggest streamers are poised to go to war with the Beeb for any Gavin & Stacey spin-off by offering multi-million pound deals to the creators.

The Sun exclusively revealed this year how Netflix wanted to snap up the festive special, which ultimately aired on BBC One on Christmas Day — with 12.5million viewers tuning in.

Streamers are poised to go to war over any Gavin and Stacey spin-off

Now Disney+ and Apple TV+ are said to be considering approaching creators Ruth Jones and James Corden and the sitcom’s producers about any future version.

A TV insider said: “They see the viewing figures for the Christmas episode and realise how Gavin & Stacey has massive longevity.

“More and more of the streamers, who are often associated more with the US, want to be seen as having an increasing amount of distinctly ‘British’ content.

“Gavin and Stacey, and any spin-off, fits that bill perfectly, so they’ll be willing to shell out seven or eight-figure sums to secure a deal.”

read more on gavin and stacey

Netflix has already ruled itself out of any bidding war, yesterday a spokeswoman for Netflix UK was saying they have: “never been in any discussions about Gavin & Stacey.”

But other streamers have already shown they are keen to bag more UK-based programmes, particularly newly developed comedy series.

Disney+ aired a TV adaptation of The Full Monty in 2023 and this year Apple TV+ gave us comedy series The Completely Made up Adventures of Dick Turpin, with English comedian Noel Fielding.

The Sun revealed last week how BBC bosses were keen for a Gavin & Stacey spin-off after the finale scored the highest Christmas Day TV audience for 16 years.

Central characters Nessa and Smithy — played by Jones and Corden — got married in the sitcom’s conclusion, which brought an end to the series after 17 years.

But it did not close the door on possible breakaway shows starring some of the other loved characters.

Watch the moment Gavin and Stacey actress Laura Aikman’s family found out she was in the finale after keeping it secret

Just before the finale aired, Corden discussed writing with Jones once again.

He said: “I can honestly say, for me personally, if we didn’t attempt to try and even just explore the idea of writing together I’d be so disappointed.”

The huge interest in the beloved programme is set to continue tomorrow — on New Year’s Day at 7pm — when BBC One airs an hour-long documentary, Gavin & Stacey: A Fond Farewell.

It will be an official goodbye to the show, featuring interviews with all of the cast members as well as behind-the-scenes footage of filming for the Christmas Day finale.

Two streaming giants, Netflix and Amazon Prime Video, are reportedly gearing up for a battle with the BBC over the rights to a Gavin & Stacey spin-off series. According to sources, both platforms are prepared to offer multi-million dollar deals to secure the highly anticipated show.

Gavin & Stacey, created by James Corden and Ruth Jones, was a smash hit for the BBC when it first aired in 2007. The show follows the long-distance relationship between Gavin, played by Mathew Horne, and Stacey, played by Joanna Page, as well as the quirky dynamics of their families.

Fans have been clamoring for a spin-off or revival of the beloved series for years, and it seems that their wishes may soon be granted. Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are said to be in talks with Corden and Jones about developing a new show that would pick up where Gavin & Stacey left off.

Both streaming giants are known for their deep pockets and willingness to invest in high-profile projects, so it’s no surprise that they are willing to go head-to-head with the BBC for the rights to the Gavin & Stacey spin-off. With multi-million dollar deals on the table, it’s clear that they are serious about bringing the beloved characters back to the small screen.

It remains to be seen which platform will ultimately win the bidding war, but one thing is for certain – fans of Gavin & Stacey are in for a treat as the battle for the spin-off heats up. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development!
