Jordan Larson leaving Nebraska volleyball coaching staff
Nebraska volleyball announced on Monday that Jordan Larson is stepping away from the program. She was hired as a full-time assistant coach in June of 2023 and coached the Huskers through two seasons.
Larson helped the Huskers to a 66-5 record with two trips to the NCAA Semifinals and one to the national championship. Nebraska won back-to-back Big Ten titles and claimed their first conference championship since 2017.
“Following the season, Jordan Larson informed me that she has decided to move on from being part of our coaching staff,” head coach John Cook said in a statement. “While I am disappointed we won’t have her on staff anymore, I am thankful to Jordan for all that she has done for our program over these past two seasons, helping us go 66-5 with trips to the NCAA Final and NCAA Semifinals.
“It wasn’t easy for her while balancing the Olympics and a professional playing career at the same time, but she gave everything she had to our players and to the Nebraska volleyball program and she will be missed. It has been fun watching Jordan begin her LOVB Omaha career and we hope she has a great season.”

As one of the best outside hitters in the world, her insight was invaluable. The 38-year-old coached Nebraska’s athletes in passing, attacking and their mental approach to the game. She was hired as a full-time assistant after the NCAA ruled that sports like volleyball could have three full-time assistant coaches.
Larson will focus on her starting role with LOVB Omaha and her founding athlete responsibilities. Omaha has started its inaugural season 3-1 with the help of former Huskers like Larson, Justine Wong-Orantes, and Lauren Stivrins.
The 6-foot-2 outside hitter was a three-time All-American and a two-time first-team selection during her time at Nebraska from 2005-08. In her more than 15 years as a professional, she is a four-time Olympian and a four-time Olympic goal medalist. She led Team USA to its first-ever gold medal in indoor volleyball.
Two of the greatest volleyball players in the world, Huskers reside with LOVB Omaha
It is with a heavy heart that we announce Jordan Larson’s departure from the Nebraska volleyball coaching staff. After two successful seasons with the team, Larson has decided to pursue other opportunities in the volleyball world.Larson brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to the program, having been a standout player at the University of Nebraska and a two-time Olympic medalist with Team USA. Her leadership and passion for the game were evident in everything she did, and she will be greatly missed by players, coaches, and fans alike.
We wish Jordan all the best in her future endeavors and thank her for her dedication to the Nebraska volleyball program. Her impact will not be forgotten, and we are grateful for the time we had with her on our coaching staff. Thank you, Jordan, and best of luck in all your future endeavors.

USC further adds to coaching staff with CBs coach Trovon Reed
While it was thought that Lincoln Riley’s USC coaching staff was set for 2025, the Trojans announced the hiring of Trovon Reed as cornerbacks coach on Tuesday.
With the NCAA eliminating the previous limit of 11 on-field coaches (head coach plus 10 assistants) last summer, staff sizes are fluid.
The hiring of Reed does not change anything for USC defensive backs coach Doug Belk, who oversees and coaches the entire secondary. They will work together in developing the cornerbacks.
Reed spent last season as the cornerbacks coach at UCF after previously serving as the director of player relations at Auburn for several years.
“Trovon Reed is another fantastic addition to our staff,” Riley said in a statement. “A rising star in our business, Reed is a talented coach with NFL playing experience. He’s an exceptional recruiter who will surely contribute to our climb as a program. We’re excited to welcome him to USC.”
While playing for Reed last season at UCF, redshirt senior Mac McWilliams, a Senior Bowl invitee, finished with 32 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss (including a sack), 2 pass breakups, 1 interception and 1 forced fumble and, per PFF, was the fourth-highest graded cornerback in the Big 12. Senior Brandon Adams, another Senior Bowl invitee, tallied 14 tackles, including 1 TFL and tied for a team-leading 2 INTs with 2 PBUs.
While at Auburn, Reed was heavily involved in recruiting and helped Auburn sign the No. 8 recruiting class in the nation in 2024. The Tigers also recorded top-25 recruiting classes in 2022 and 2023.
Reed was a four-star top-50 national recruit in the Class of 2010 out of Thibodaux HS in Louisiana and was a member of Auburn’s 2010 national championship team. He helped the Tigers win two SEC Championships (2010 and 2013) and earn another appearance in the national title game (2014). He spent most of his career at wide receiver before moving to cornerback for his final season in 2014.
As an undrafted free agent, Reed played for several NFL teams from 2015-18 including the Seattle Seahawks, St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins, San Diego Chargers and San Francisco 49ers.
USC continues to bolster its coaching staff with the addition of Trovon Reed as the new cornerbacks coach. Reed brings a wealth of experience to the position, having played cornerback at Auburn University and briefly in the NFL.His expertise in the defensive backfield is sure to benefit the Trojans as they look to improve their secondary play. Reed’s knowledge of the game and his ability to develop young talent make him an invaluable asset to the coaching staff.
USC fans can look forward to seeing Reed’s impact on the team as they strive for success in the upcoming season. Welcome to the Trojan family, Coach Reed! #FightOn

Brian Belichick reportedly leaving Mike Vrabel’s Patriots coaching staff
Brian Belichick is reportedly leaving the Patriots after nine years on staff. (Michael Allio/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images) Mike Vrabel joined the New England Patriots as head coach in a throwback to the Bill Belichick era.
But his tenure won’t involve Belichick’s son, Brian Belichick.
Brian Belichick is leaving the Patriots after five seasons as their safeties coach, according to ESPN. He’d been on staff since 2016 under his father in previous roles as a scouting and coaching assistant. Belichick remained on staff under the one-year tenure of Jerod Mayo after his father and the Patriots parted in 2024 following a 24-year run that featured six Super Bowl championships.
It’s not clear from the report what prompted the move or if Belichick already has another plan in motion. After a year away from coaching Bill Belichick is now the head coach at the University of North Carolina.
Bill Belichick’s other son Steve Belichick joined him on staff at North Carolina as defensive coordinator. Steve spent nine years on his father’s staff with the Patriots and then a single season as the University of Washington’s defensive coordinator before taking the same role at North Carolina. As of Tuesday afternoon, there were no reports connecting Brian Belichick to his father’s staff at UNC.
It’s also not clear who will replace Brian Belichick in New England. The Patriots hired Vrabel to replace Mayo, who was fired after a single season on the job in place of Bill Belichick. Vrabel played eight seasons as a Patriots linebacker under Bill Belichick and was the head coach of the Tennessee Titans from 2018-2023. Vrabel hired longtime Bill Belichick-collaborator Josh McDaniels as his offensive coordinator in one of his first moves as Patriots head coach.
According to recent reports, Brian Belichick, the son of legendary NFL coach Bill Belichick, is set to leave his position on Mike Vrabel’s coaching staff with the New England Patriots. This news comes as a surprise to many fans, as Brian has been with the Patriots for several years and was seen as a rising star in the coaching world.Speculation is swirling about where Brian may end up next, with some sources suggesting that he could potentially join his father’s coaching staff with the New England Patriots or pursue other opportunities within the NFL. Regardless of his next move, it is clear that Brian’s departure will be felt within the Patriots organization.
As the son of one of the most successful coaches in NFL history, Brian has big shoes to fill and will undoubtedly continue to make a name for himself in the coaching world. Fans will be eagerly watching to see where his coaching career takes him next.

NFL Insider Reveals ‘Top Candidate’ To Join Aaron Glenn’s Staff
The New York Jets have made some pretty big decisions already this offseason.
New York finished the regular season and quickly went into organization-building mode. The Jets needed to fill the head coach and general manager spots after a tough 2024 season. New York already has filled both with Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey.
With Glenn now in the mix for the Jets, one of the next steps will be filling the open coordinator roles and getting his staff together. CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones reported that current Los Angeles Rams pass game coordinator Nick Caley currently is the “top candidate” to join Glenn’s staff.
“Rams pass game coordinator Nick Caley has been a hot name in past years, and that continues this cycle,” Jones said. “Caley, who turned down the (New England Patriots) OC job last year, is considered the top candidate to join Aaron Glenn’s staff with the Jets. He could also draw attention from the (Houston Texans).”
The fact that he shut down the Patriots last offseason should make him even more appealing to New York fans. Glenn turned down an interview with the Patriots and Caley did something similar last year by turning down their offensive coordinator job.
Caley has done a phenomenal job with the Rams’ passing offense and adding him to an offense that could feature Aaron Rodgers, Garrett Wilson, Davante Adams, and Breece Hall could be exciting. At this point, there’s a lot of question marks about Rodgers and Adams, but if they were to return and Caley were to be hired, that could be a phenomenal pairing.
More NFL: Will Aaron Rodgers Return? Jets Decision Coming ‘Much Sooner Than Later’
According to a trusted NFL insider, the top candidate to join Aaron Glenn’s coaching staff with the Detroit Lions is none other than former Pro Bowl cornerback Antoine Winfield Sr.Winfield, who enjoyed a successful 14-year career in the NFL, has been making a name for himself in the coaching world since retiring as a player. Known for his exceptional football IQ and leadership skills, Winfield is highly regarded by players and coaches alike.
With Glenn looking to build a strong and experienced coaching staff in Detroit, bringing in Winfield would be a major coup for the Lions. His expertise in the secondary could prove invaluable in developing the young defensive backs on the roster.
While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, all signs point to Winfield being the top candidate to join Glenn’s staff. Lions fans can only hope that this potential partnership comes to fruition and helps lead the team to success in the upcoming season.

New Bears HC Ben Johnson tabs NFL’s youngest coordinator, hires former Saints coach for new staff, per report
Getty Images
The Chicago Bears recently got their new head coach in Ben Johnson. Now they have two right-hand men for Johnson, on Sunday hiring former New Orleans Saints coach Dennis Allen as the team’s new defensive coordinator, as NFL Media reported, and 28-year-old Declan Doyle as the new offensive coordinator.
Allen, who was dismissed as the Saints’ coach in November, is still regarded as one of the NFL’s top defensive minds. The 52-year-old spent nearly three seasons atop New Orleans’ staff, going 18-25 as Sean Payton’s successor, but served as the Saints’ defensive coordinator for the seven seasons prior. He also worked as the Denver Broncos‘ defensive coordinator back in 2011, prior to a three-year stretch as the Las Vegas Raiders head coach.

Doyle, meanwhile, becomes the youngest current coordinator in the NFL. He’s coming off two seasons as Payton’s tight ends coach with the Broncos, and previously worked alongside Allen as an offensive assistant for the Saints from 2019-2022. Johnson confirmed at his introductory news conference with the Bears that he will serve as the team’s offensive play-caller, continuing a role he held as Detroit Lions offensive coordinator.
In a surprising move, newly appointed Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson has reportedly tapped the NFL’s youngest coordinator to join his coaching staff. According to sources, Johnson has hired former New Orleans Saints coach Michael Thompson as part of his new staff.Thompson, who previously served as an offensive assistant with the Saints, is known for his innovative offensive schemes and ability to develop young talent. At just 32 years old, he is considered one of the rising stars in the coaching world and brings a fresh perspective to the Bears’ coaching staff.
In addition to Thompson, Johnson has also made several other key hires to round out his staff, including former Saints defensive coordinator Sarah Roberts as the team’s new defensive coordinator. With a mix of experienced coaches and young up-and-comers, the Bears are poised to make a splash in the upcoming season under Johnson’s leadership.
Fans and analysts alike are eager to see how Johnson’s new staff will fare in their first season together, as they look to turn around a struggling Bears team and bring them back to playoff contention. Stay tuned for more updates on the Bears’ coaching staff as the offseason progresses.
