With only a few games left in the regular season, every win and loss becomes crucial in determining the final standings. Will Kentucky be able to pull ahead and secure the bye, or will Mississippi State continue their surprising run and clinch the spot for themselves?

The 2025 MLS
season is barely three weeks away! Ahead of the league’s 30th year, we’re moving full steam ahead into prediction season. Starting with the Western Conference today and the Eastern Conference, GIVEMESPORT‘s Ben Wright makes his predictions for the final standings.
Note: these predictions are as of January 31, 2025. With the transfer window still in full swing, a lot can change before the first ball is kicked.
15
FC Dallas
2024 finish: 11th
FC Dallas
have essentially gutted their roster. Gone are Jesús Ferreira
, Paul Arriola
, Alan Velasco
and Nkosi Tafari
. They’ve made a few signings, but overall haven’t come close to replacing the exodus of key players from last year. It looks set to be a long season in Eric Quill’s first season in charge.

San Diego FC
2024 finish: N/A

It’s typically hard to judge expansion teams before they’ve ever played a match. San Diego FC
are no different. Some of their moves have been intriguing, like the additions of DP wingers Hirving Lozano
and Anders Dreyer
. There are still plenty of question marks, though, like how Mikey Varas will fare in his first season as a senior head coach. At the end of the day, it’s just really hard to be good as an expansion team.
13
Portland Timbers
2024 finish: 9th
The Portland Timbers
have a ton of questions heading into the season. For starters, will Evander
be back? The 2024 Best XI midfielder ended last season publicly frustrated at the club, and seems like a prime candidate for the league’s new Cash Trade rule. If Evander leaves, Portland’s ceiling falls into the basement.
12
Sporting Kansas City
2024 finish: 13th
Sporting Kansas City
are another team who’ve had a major exodus of players this winter. Johnny Russell, Tim Melia
, Alan Pulido
and Fontàs
may have been past their primes, but they were all key players for Sporting, and haven’t been replaced so far this winter… sike! Signing Dejan Joveljic
from the Los Angeles Galaxy
as the first cash trade in league history is a huge move that brings them one of the best goal-scorers in MLS, and immediately raises their ceiling.
11
Vancouver Whitecaps
2024 finish: 8th
Credit: Anne-Marie Sorvin-Imagn Images
The Vancouver Whitecaps
are another team with major question marks. Are you sensing the trend here? Vanni Sartini was fired after the 2024 season. The club was put up for sale. Fafà Picault
left in free agency, and Stuart Armstrong
has been sold to Sheffield Wednesday
. There are more questions than answers this point, and while the ‘Caps have been on the bubble of being a contender for the last several seasons, 2025 feels like it has the potential to sour quickly.
10
San Jose Earthquakes
2024 finish: 14th
How quickly can Bruce Arena turn around one of the worst teams in MLS history? That’s the big question for the San Jose Earthquakes
, and honestly one of the biggest questions of the 2025 season. The ‘Quakes were awful in 2024, finishing last in the Supporters’ Shield standings, losing a record 25 matches, and conceding a record 78 goals. They’ve been wildly active in the transfer market, signing Josef Martínez
and Cristian Arango
, as well as bolstering several other areas. Arena has a history of getting production quickly, but will it be enough to get them into the playoffs?
9
Austin FC
2024 finish: 10th
Austin FC have overhauled their Designated Players, signing their three current DPs ( Osman Bukari
, Brandon Vázquez
and Myrto Uzuni
) in the last two windows. Sebastián Driussi
is gone, transferred out as Nico Estévez comes in to manage a new-look roster. They don’t have much depth at any position, though, and there are real questions about who is going to create the chances for Vázquez and Uzuni to finish.
8
Houston Dynamo
2024 finish: 5th
Hector Herrera and Adalberto Carrasquilla
are gone. Can Houston Dynamo
still play Ben Olsen’s possession-based style without them? The Dynamo led MLS with 59.3 percent possession last year but scored the seventh-fewest goals. They need to figure out who is going to control the game for them while also hoping Ezequiel Ponce
takes a big step forward in year two. Don’t be surprised if they take a step back in 2025.
7
Real Salt Lake
2024 finish: 3th
Credit: Robert Edwards-Imagn Images
It’s Diego Luna
‘s team now. With Chicho Arango traded, Real Salt Lake
have moved on to a new chapter. Diogo Gonçalves
wears the number 10, but I suspect Luna will carry the weight of chance creation for an RSL side that should be in the playoffs, but will have trouble challenging at the top of the table.
6
Colorado Rapids
2024 finish: 7th
Credit: Denny Medley-Imagn Images
The Colorado Rapids
might not have the highest ceiling in the West, but under Chris Armas they’ve proved to have a very high floor, especially if Djordje Mihailović
is able to stay healthy for a full season. Chidozie Awaziem
was savvy pickup from Cincinnati, and he should improve a defense that was decent-if-suspect last year.
5
St. Louis City SC
2024 finish: 12th
Mandatory Credit- Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports
St. Louis CITY SC
have had a quiet winter window, but that’s because they did most of their business in the summer. Marcel Hartel
and Cedric Teuchert
look like stars, and Timo Baumgartl
should be a fantastic addition at the back. They’re one to watch, and one of my two dark horse picks in the West this year.
4
LA Galaxy
2024 finish: 2nd
Remember that MLS Cup
-winning roster? Yeah… it’s dismantled. Aside from the fact that Riqui Puig
will miss most of the 2025 season, Gastón Brugman
, Jalen Neal
, Marky Delgado
and now Dejan Joveljic
are gone. With the Galaxy up against cap constraints, they haven’t really been able to reload, although Joveljic’s sale should give them a bit of wiggle room. They should be able to make a couple of additions, but having them in fourth feels like a risk.
3
Minnesota United
2024 finish: 6th
Credit: Matt Krohn-Imagn Images
Minnesota United
maybe shouldn’t count as a dark horse, but I’m calling them one. Kelvin Yeboah
looked like a Golden Boot-caliber No. 9 in his half season, Robin Lod
remains one of the best and most overlooked playmakers in the league, and Eric Ramsey has built a solid system to maximize his players’ potential. Count on the Loons finishing towards the top of the Western Conference table.
2
Seattle Sounders
2024 finish: 4th
The Seattle Sounders
quietly had one of the best winter windows in MLS. Re-signing Albert Rusnák
and João Paulo
was excellent business, Paul Arriola
will raise their level in multiple positions, and Jesús Ferreira
is a proven MLS goal-scorer who hasn’t even reached his prime. Pair that with an all-time elite defense and you have a winning formula. The Sounders were just minutes away from making MLS Cup in 2024, and no one should be shocked if they make it all the way in 2025.
1
LAFC
2024 finish: 1st
Credit: Trevor Ruszkowski-Imagn Images
Los Angeles FC
are another side that have made tons of changes this winter. Their midfield, in particular, has been completely gutted, with Timothy Tillman the only returning midfielder from 2024. Normally, this would be a massive red flag. But John Thorrington has build up a lot of credit with six seasons of exceptional roster building, endlessly able to replace players at a high level and always good for one massive summer move. Even with the changes, they still have loads of talent in this squad, an MVP-caliber attacker in Denis Bouanga
, and the ability to go out and add a game-changing DP in the summer. It’s the blueprint they’ve followed for years, and it always seems to work.
The 2025 MLS Regular Season is only weeks away; here’s what every club needs to round out their rosters ahead of Opening Day.
As we look ahead to the 2025 MLS season, the Western Conference is shaping up to be as competitive as ever. With talented teams and star-studded rosters, fans can expect an exciting race for the playoffs.
Here is a preview of the top teams in the Western Conference and my prediction for the final standings:
1. LA Galaxy: With a strong core of players and a proven track record of success, the Galaxy are poised to finish at the top of the conference. Led by key players like Chicharito and Jonathan dos Santos, they have the talent and experience to make a deep playoff run.
2. Seattle Sounders: The Sounders have consistently been a powerhouse in the Western Conference and I expect them to be right in the mix again in 2025. With a balanced roster and strong coaching, they will be a tough team to beat.
3. Portland Timbers: The Timbers have a solid roster and a passionate fan base that always gives them a boost at home. With key players like Diego Valeri and Sebastian Blanco leading the way, they should be in contention for a playoff spot.
4. FC Dallas: Dallas has a young and talented roster that has been steadily improving in recent years. With a focus on developing their own talent through their academy, they have the potential to surprise some of the more established teams in the conference.
5. LAFC: After a disappointing season in 2024, LAFC will be looking to bounce back and regain their status as one of the top teams in the Western Conference. With Carlos Vela leading the way, they have the firepower to compete with anyone in the league.
6. Real Salt Lake: RSL may be flying under the radar, but they have a solid core of players and a strong team culture that could propel them into playoff contention. With a well-rounded roster and a hard-working mentality, they could be a dark horse in the conference.
7. Vancouver Whitecaps: The Whitecaps have made some key additions to their roster in the offseason and should be a team to watch in 2025. With exciting young players like Ryan Gauld and Lucas Cavallini, they have the potential to surprise some of the more established teams in the conference.
8. San Jose Earthquakes: The Earthquakes have struggled in recent years, but they have made some key acquisitions in the offseason that could help them improve in 2025. With a revamped roster and a new coaching staff, they will be looking to make a statement in the Western Conference.
Overall, the Western Conference is shaping up to be highly competitive in 2025, with several teams vying for playoff spots. While the Galaxy may be the favorites to finish at the top, there are plenty of talented teams that will be looking to challenge them for supremacy. It’s sure to be an exciting season ahead for MLS fans.

2025 MLS Western Conference Season Preview & Analysis
The trade deadline is a mere week away now on Feb. 6. Now is the time for teams to begin figuring out where they stand and how they plan to attack the deadline at this stage of the season.
In the East, the Cleveland Cavaliers have been a machine and the Boston Celtics have been terrific while the Philadelphia 76ers have been struggling all season amid injuries, but are beginning to really surge. The New York Knicks have been terrific while the Orlando Magic cannot be forgotten about once they get healthy. The Milwaukee Bucks have begun to surge as well after their slow start along with the Indiana Pacers.
Out West, the Oklahoma City Thunder have been at the top while teams like the Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies, and Dallas Mavericks will be teams to worry about as well.
With that said, here is the 12th edition of the NBA Power Rankings:
30. Washington Wizards (6-40)
Previous ranking: 30
The Wizards have lost 15 in a row and need to make a move before the deadline. The youngsters are getting valuable reps to develop in this league, but there is no real reason for keeping Kyle Kuzma on the roster. The goal has to be developing Alex Sarr and others while positioning themselves for the lottery.
29. Utah Jazz (10-35)
Previous ranking: 29
The Jazz have to love what they are getting out of their younger players. While it hasn’t led to wins just yet, Utah is getting a lot of strong play out of guys like Isaiah Collier, Keyonte George, Kyle Filipowski, and Brice Sensabaugh. Now, the Jazz have to try and move their veterans to see if they can get add to their stockpile of young talent.
28. Charlotte Hornets (12-32)
Previous ranking: 27
The Hornets have been an average defensive team as they rank 16th in defensive rating, but they have been disastrous on the offensive ranking 27th in offensive rating. Charlotte has its eyes on wining the lottery as Brandon Miller is out for the season and the Hornets should focus on that as well as hoping LaMelo Ball can stay healthy the rest of the way.
27. New Orleans Pelicans (12-36)
Previous ranking: 25
The Pelicans continue to be disastrous. They have lost four in a row as they continue to deal with injuries and inconsistent play. One has to wonder about the status of coach Willie Green and whether his seat is getting warm down in New Orleans. On the bright side, Trey Murphy III has been terrific for the Pelicans.
26. Brooklyn Nets (15-33)
Previous ranking: 26
The Nets are fully embracing the tank as they have their eyes on the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes. This is good for the franchise as they move into the future, but it hurts the present as coach Jordi Fernandez looks to create a culture in Brooklyn. One has to wonder if the Nets will make another deal ahead of the deadline as they move forward with the rebuild.
25. Toronto Raptors (15-32)
Previous ranking: 28
The Raptors have won five in a row including beating teams like the Magic and the Hawks (twice). While Toronto is not going to contend for a postseason spot in 2025, it’s obvious that coach Darko Rajakovic and Co. are laying down the foundation for the future. The Raptors have a good young core led by Scottie Barnes and they need to build around it.
24. Portland Trail Blazers (18-29)
Previous ranking: 24
The Blazers just seem stuck. While they are losing enough to be in the lottery, it hasn’t been at the rate it needs to be in order to truly be in the Flagg sweepstakes. With that being said, guys like Deni Avdija and Donovan Clingan have been good additions to the roster. The goal for Portland now has to be focused on the development of Scoot Henderson and the youngsters.
23. Chicago Bulls (20-28)
Previous ranking: 22
The Bulls are still holding onto their core at the moment, but with the deadline now rapidly approaching, it has to change. As mentioned in this spot all season, Chicago is going nowhere with Zach LaVine, Nikola Vucevic, and Lonzo Ball at the moment. All three are talented as ever and the Bulls should get a nice return for either player as they move forward.
22. Philadelphia 76ers (19-27)
Previous ranking: 23
The Sixers have followed up a miserable 7-game losing skid with a 4-game winning streak now and are only percentage points back of the Bulls for the final play-in spot in the Eastern Conference. They are coming off some impressive wins over the Cavaliers and Lakers and Tyrese Maxey appears to have his joy back. If they get healthy, a rather huge if, this team can be scary in the East.
21. San Antonio Spurs (20-24)
Previous ranking: 21
The Spurs have dropped two in a row following a big win over the Pacers in Paris. They dropped the rematch with Indiana and then lost to the Clippers at home. San Antonio now has some work to do as it is 2.5 games back of the Kings for the final play-in spot in the West as the season progresses.
20. Atlanta Hawks (22-25)
Previous ranking: 16
The Hawks are in a bit of a freefall as they have lost six in a row and lost Jalen Johnson for the rest of the season. As injuries begin to take their toll in Atlanta, the Hawks are now No. 9 in the East and are only 2.5 games ahead of the Bulls and the Sixers in the play-in standings. It will be up to Trae Young to keep Atlanta afloat and in the playoff race.
19. Miami Heat (23-23)
Previous ranking: 19
The Heat have to figure out the Jimmy Butler saga as they move forward. The star forward has been suspended for a third time and Miami is still adjusting to playing without the disgruntled forward. On the bright side, coach Erik Spoelstra has finally given Kel’el Ware the playing time he needs and Bam Adebayo can play more power forward.
18. Sacramento Kings (24-23)
Previous ranking: 15
The Kings now have to figure out the De’Aaron Fox situation as they will begin taking trade calls on their star guard. They have worked their way back into the play-in tournament in the tough Western Conference, but the potential Fox drama looms over them now as they move forward and one has to wonder what the front office will do leading into the 3 p.m. EST deadline on Feb. 6.
17. Detroit Pistons (23-24)
Previous ranking: 14
The Pistons have run into a tough stretch of their schedule and have been delivered a dose of reality. While Cade Cunningham continues to play like a star and Malik Beasley has been fantastic as a floor spacer, they need another ball-handler and scorer to take pressure off Cunningham. If Jaden Ivey can return from his injury, it would be a big help on the offensive end.
16. Golden State Warriors (24-23)
Previous ranking: 20
The Warriors are still a competitive bunch as Stephen Curry has been terrific on the offensive end and the role players understand what they are supposed to do. They just have to find some consistency. One has to wonder if they can feasibly pull off a Jimmy Butler deal and have him team up with Curry and Draymond Green in The Bay.
15. Phoenix Suns (24-22)
Previous ranking: 18
The Suns have had a chaotic season led by the benching of Bradley Beal and Jusuf Nurkic being phased out of the rotation a bit. With that being said, when Devin Booker and Kevin Durant are healthy, the Suns are a lethal offense as there are not many in this league who can match up with either player. Beal is still a player who can produce off the bench for Phoenix.
14. Orlando Magic (24-24)
Previous ranking: 13
The Magic have stumbled, but getting Franz Wagner, Jalen Suggs, and Goga Bitadze back on the floor to join Paolo Banchero should settle them down and get them back on track. Orlando was near the top of the standings in the East and should make another run up the standings when it gets back into the groove of things.
13. Dallas Mavericks (26-22)
Previous ranking: 17
The Mavericks are still awaiting the return of Luka Doncic from injury, but until then, Dallas can rely on Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson to lead the charge on the offensive end. It also doesn’t hurt that PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford are there to chip in when the time calls for it. When Doncic returns, the Mavs will be a competitive bunch in the West.
12. Minnesota Timberwolves (26-21)
Previous ranking: 12
Have the Wolves figured it out? Are they one, big happy family in Minnesota? They have won four in a row and are creeping up on the Clippers on getting out of the play-in tournament and into the top 6. The duo of Anthony Edwards and Julius Randle still has some work to do, but Minnesota has enough talent to make this work. It has been a bit of a down season, but the Wolves can get this done.
11. Los Angeles Lakers (26-19)
Previous ranking: 11
The Lakers are dealing with yet another Anthony Davis injury and one has to wonder how they will go about surviving his absence. Of course, LeBron James is still playing at a high level, but they will need Rui Hachimura to step up and will lean on Jarred Vanderbilt a bit more than maybe they would have liked at this moment when considering he hasn’t played much basketball in the past year.
10. Indiana Pacers (26-20)
Previous ranking: 9
The Pacers are back to being an offensive juggernaut as they are in the top 10 in the league i offensive rating, but defense continues to be an issue. It will be hard for Indiana to truly contend in the East if it can’t get enough stops. While Tyrese Haliburton and Pascal Siakam are a talented duo and Myles Turner is an elite shot blocker, the Pacers need to get defensive out on the floor.
9. Los Angeles Clippers (27-20)
Previous ranking: 10
The Clippers are 7-2 with Kawhi Leonard in the lineup which shows how talented LA is with he and James Harden leading the way. Harden, especially, deserves a ton of credit for the job he has done in 2024-25 as a leader and somebody who can get after it on the offensive end still at his advanced age.
8. Milwaukee Bucks (26-19)
Previous ranking: 8
The Bucks took a bad loss to the Blazers on Tuesday, but they are still sitting at No. 5 in the East thanks to the strong play of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. The role players continue to do a good job for this group and coach Doc Rivers has been pushing the right buttons. One has to wonder if Milwaukee makes a move at the deadline.
7. Denver Nuggets (28-19)
Previous ranking: 7
The Nuggets have lost three in a row including a bad one to the Bulls in Chicago. With that being said, as long as Nikola Jokic is out there, Denver is dangerous. The Nuggets are continuing to get strong efforts out of Jamal Murray and others which makes Denver a serious contender in the Western Conference. This team did just win a championship two years ago, after all.
6. Memphis Grizzlies (31-16)
Previous ranking: 6
A lot of experts aren’t taking the Grizzlies seriously, but when this team is healthy, they are dangerous. Memphis has been a strong team all season long and with stars like Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr., the Grizz should be considered a contender as they sit at No. 3 in the Western Conference standings.
5. New York Knicks (32-16)
Previous ranking: 5
The Knicks have won five in a row including wins over teams like the Nuggets, Grizzlies, and Kings who have all been surging. New York is sitting at No. 3 in the East and is just a game back of the Celtics for the No. 2 seed. The Knicks are jelling at the right time as they continue to move forward with their season.
4. Houston Rockets (32-14)
Previous ranking: 4
The Rockets have been stifling on the defensive end all season and are looking to solidify their status as title contenders in the West. The young core of Jalen Green, Alperen Sengun, and Amen Thompson has been fantastic and coach Ime Udoka deserves so much credit for getting this group to mesh together. Fred VanVleet has been a calming influence as well.
3. Boston Celtics (33-15)
Previous ranking: 3
The Celtics have been on cruise control throughout the season following their hot start, but Boston still has work to do. While they are the defending champs and they are the favorites to come out of the East again, they have to hold off the Knicks in the standings and they need to assert themselves again.
2. Cleveland Cavaliers (38-9)
Previous ranking: 2
The Cavs dropped three in a row–including two to the Rockets and one to the very short-handed Sixers–but they bounced back with wins over the Pistons and the Heat to get back on track. Cleveland has still been a machine all season long led by All-Star starter Donovan Mitchell as well as Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, Jarrett Allen, and a cast of proven role players.
1. Oklahoma City Thunder (37-9)
Previous ranking: 1
The Thunder are going to be a scary bunch heading into the playoffs led by star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and big man Chet Holmgren when he does return from injury. Oklahoma City is going to likely going to be the No. 1 seed in the West, but one has to wonder if it will be the favorites. Teams like the Mavericks and Nuggets have proven themselves in the postseason. The Thunder will have to do the same.
The Philadelphia 76ers are on the rise in the Eastern Conference standings, making a strong surge towards the top. With key players like Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons leading the way, the team has been on a winning streak and climbing up the ranks.
Their recent victories have showcased their talent and potential to compete with the best teams in the league. The 76ers’ defense has been stellar, shutting down opponents and forcing turnovers to create scoring opportunities.
Fans are buzzing with excitement as the team continues to dominate on the court and show their strength in the Eastern Conference. With their recent success, the 76ers are proving that they are a force to be reckoned with and a serious contender for the playoffs.
Keep an eye on the Philadelphia 76ers as they make their way up the Eastern Conference standings and look to make a deep postseason run. #TrustTheProcess #76ersNation
After 10 consecutive months in the top-100 of the ATP singles rankings, Sumit Nagal dropped out of the bracket after a run of poor outings. Rohan Bopanna, too, lost his place in the top-20 due to an early exit from the Australian Open.
Nagal had sustained his rankings in the top-100 since March 2024, but now he is placed 106 with 565 points in the latest chart.
He has been struggling on the Tour off late. Since the Wimbledon last year, Nagal has taken part in 18 competitions but won the main draw games in only three of them.
A top-100 position grants players direct entires in big events, including Grand Slams, and even an early defeat guarantees them a reasonable prize money.
Following Nagal was Sasikumar Mukund at number 365 (+2), Ramkumar Ramanathan (406, -1), Karan Singh (496, -20) and Aryan Shah (593, -9).
In doubles, Bopanna, who is still playing solid tennis at the age of 44, lost five places to be at number 21. Being the Australian Open defending champion, Bopanna had to defend a lot of points in Melbourne, where he lost in the opening round with new partner Nicolas Barrientos.
Bopanna has featured in top-20 consistently since October 3, 2022.
Yuki Bhambri was unchanged at number 47 and following him was N Sriram Balaji (64, +1), Rithvik Choudary Bollipalli (79, -7) and Arjun Kadhe (83, +1).
Mukund, Ramkumar, Balaji Karan Singh and Bollipalli are part of the Indian Davis Cup squad that will take on Togo in the World Group I Play-off tie on February 1-2.
Nagal and Bhambri did not make themselves available for the match.

Sumit Nagal moves up 15 spots:

Prajnesh Gunneswaran breaks into the top 100:
Another Indian tennis player, Prajnesh Gunneswaran, has broken into the top 100 in the latest ATP rankings. Gunneswaran is now ranked at 96th in the world, marking a career-high ranking for the talented player. This is a major milestone for Gunneswaran, who has been consistently performing well on the ATP tour.
Ramkumar Ramanathan drops in the rankings:
Unfortunately, Ramkumar Ramanathan has seen a drop in his rankings in the latest ATP standings. Ramanathan has slipped to 174th in the world, down from his previous ranking of 162nd. Despite this setback, Ramanathan will be looking to bounce back and regain his form in the coming months.
Overall, it is great to see Indian tennis players making strides in the ATP rankings, with Nagal and Gunneswaran making significant progress. With continued hard work and dedication, these players have the potential to achieve even greater success in the future.
Arkansas is no longer winless in the Southeastern Conference. The Razorbacks somehow came back from 14-down in the second half to get it all tied up in the final seconds, drive and get fouled, and knock down a free throw and a layup to triumph 68-65 over the Georgia Bulldogs in Bud Walton Arena. It wasn’t pretty, and it wasn’t dominant top-25 basketball, but it was a win, and perhaps it will provide enough of a spark to get them back toward their preseason expectations.
Here are your SEC standings as of January 24th:
SEC Basketball Standings
Notes:
Texas picked up a much-needed win at home Tuesday against Missouri for just their second SEC win, and first not against their former Big 12 neighbor Oklahoma.
Arkansas absolutely must follow up their victory over Georgia with another home win over Oklahoma, because after that it’s at Kentucky, at Texas, and hosting Alabama.
Georgia will the loss to Arkansas drops to 2-4 in the league, but both their victories were against ranked opponents. There will probably be at least one SEC team that gets in the tournament with a conference record of like 7-11 or something. Or even 6-12!
Florida barely escaped South Carolina on Wednesday to improve to 4-2 in the league and 17-2 overall. Down 68-69 Will Richard hit a driving layup to deny the Gamecocks their first SEC win.
Biggest game this weekend: Tennessee at Auburn.
SEC Basketball Standings Update – A Sea Of Blue
As we head into the heart of conference play, the SEC basketball standings are starting to take shape. And for many teams, it’s a sea of blue at the top.
The Kentucky Wildcats are currently leading the pack with an impressive record, showcasing their dominance on both ends of the court. With a talented roster led by star players like Tyrese Maxey and Ashton Hagans, the Wildcats are poised to make a deep run in the SEC tournament and beyond.
Following closely behind are the Auburn Tigers and the Florida Gators, both of whom have been putting together strong performances in conference play. The Tigers, led by standout guard Samir Doughty, are known for their high-octane offense and stifling defense. The Gators, on the other hand, have been relying on their balanced scoring attack and strong team chemistry to rack up wins.
But the SEC is a tough conference, and there are plenty of other teams in the mix as well. The LSU Tigers, the Tennessee Volunteers, and the Mississippi State Bulldogs are all lurking just behind the top teams, ready to make a push for the title.

The 2025 competitive season in League of Legends is back, with the South Korean LCK returning in full swing. But this year, the league underwent a complete overhaul, and now it’s called the 2025 LCK Cup.
The tournament will determine the only LCK representative at a new international event in the League’s professional ecosystem, First Stand. The competition is fierce as ever, and despite T1 returning to action, it’s hard to pick a favorite.
Here are the scores, standings, and results for the 2025 LCK Cup.
What is the format of the 2025 LCK Cup?

The South Korean competition underwent major changes in 2025. The winner of the first part of the season will compete in First Stand 2025, a new international League tournament called the 2025 LCK Cup. Instead of a regular season with one group and single round-robin games, the event is split into two groups: Baron and Elder.
These two groups are even in strength, at least on paper. Each team from each one will play a squad from the opposing group once in a best-of-three series. The winner claims one point for their group.
These points are later used to determine the winning and losing group. Afterward, teams proceed to play-ins and playoffs. Play-ins feature the bottom two teams from the Winner’s Groups and the top four teams from the Losers’ Group. The top three rosters in the play-ins proceed to the playoffs, where the top three teams from the Winners Group will already be waiting. Here’s what the brackets look like for both of these stages.

2025 World Juniors Hockey Tournament Format And Relegation Game Explained
Each year, the top ten ranked hockey nations in the world put together a roster of their best under-20 players to convene for a multi-round tournament to earn the title of IIHF World Junior champion. This year, the tournament is in Ottawa, Canada.
In 2025, the tournament follows a similar format to previous seasons. The tournament uses a three point system:
3 points for a winning team at the conclusion of regulation time
1points for both teams at the conclusion of regulation time if the game is tied
An additional point is earned for the team winning in a 5-minute overtime, or the penalty-shot shootout if the teams are still tied following overtime
0 points for a team losing the game in regulation time
Similar to the NHL regular season rules, overtime is played with each team icing three skaters and a goalie.
The tournament starts with two round-robin tournaments five teams each and then moves into single-elimination playoff games.
Ten teams are divided into two, five-team groups in a preliminary round, also called the group stage. After a single round-robin series in each group, the top four teams as scored by points in each group advance to the playoff rounds.
Relegation Game
The fifth place teams move to the relegation round. The winner play in the next IIHF World Junior Championship. The loser is relegated to the U20 World Championships Division I Group A.
Quarterfinal & Semifinal Games
Based on placements from the group stage, the remaining eight teams move into single-elimination playoffs to compete in a cross-over quarterfinal game. The top placed team in one group play the lowest placed team from the other group, and so forth.
Heading into the semifinal round, the remaining four teams are reseeded based on the following criteria:
Placement in their group
Points in the group stage
Goal difference in the group stage
Goals scored in the group stage
Seeding coming into the tournament
Finally, the semifinal winners move into the Gold medal game while the losers play for the bronze medal.

The AFC playoff picture is coming into focus with one spot still remaining. The Los Angeles Chargers wrapped up their playoff berth with a victory over the New England Patriots on Saturday, but the final playoff spot will be up for grabs heading into the season’s final week.
The Cincinnati Bengals remained alive in the playoff race with their thrilling overtime win over the Denver Broncos, but the Indianapolis Colts were eliminated with their loss to the New York Giants. The Miami Dolphins remain alive in the playoff race as well. Denver can still clinch a playoff berth with a victory over the top-seeded Kansas City Chiefs in Week 18.
In the NFC, the Los Angeles Rams moved one step closer toward clinching the NFC West. They could clinch the division as soon as Sunday under this scenario, or just defeat the Seattle Seahawks in Week 18. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers put pressure on the Atlanta Falcons for the NFC South title with a blowout win over the Carolina Panthers. The Falcons face the Washington Commanders on Sunday night.
Below is a breakdown of the conference standings with the Week 17 slate winding down:
AFC playoff picture
z — clinched first-round bye y — clinched division x — clinched playoff berth e — eliminated from playoffs
1. Kansas City Chiefs (15-1)
The Chiefs wrapped up the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage with their win over the Steelers. Kansas City gets the lone bye in the conference and can rest its starters in Week 18.
Remaining schedule: at Broncos
2. Buffalo Bills (13-3)
The Bills needed the Chiefs to lose out to still have a shot at the No. 1 seed. That didn’t happen, so the Bills went out and wrapped up the No. 2 seed with their blowout win over the Jets. They will face the No. 7 seed in the wild-card round.
Remaining schedule: at Patriots
3. Baltimore Ravens (11-5)
The Ravens have taken over the AFC North lead with their win and the Steelers’ loss, having a one-game lead over Pittsburgh heading into the final week. A win or a Steelers loss in Week 18 gives Baltimore the division.
Remaining schedule: vs. Browns
4. Houston Texans (9-7)
The Texans have already clinched the AFC South. They will be the No. 4 seed in the AFC and will have a home game in the wild-card round of the playoffs.
The Steelers lose the AFC North lead after falling to the Chiefs. They need a win and a Ravens loss in the final week to win the division. They hold the tiebreaker over the Chargers for the No. 5 seed due beating Los Angeles in Week 3.
Remaining schedule: vs. Bengals
6. Los Angeles Chargers (10-6)
The Chargers clinched a playoff berth with their win over the Patriots.
The Broncos are a win away from clinching a playoff spot, even with their overtime loss to the Bengals. They need to win in Week 18 to clinch a playoff spot.
Remaining schedule: vs. Chiefs
8. Cincinnati Bengals (8-8)
The Bengals remain alive in the AFC playoff race, thanks to their overtime win over the Broncos. They will make the playoffs if they win in Week 18 and the Broncos lose along with Miami losing one of its final two games.
Remaining schedule: at Steelers
9. Miami Dolphins (7-8)
The Dolphins’ AFC playoff hopes are still alive, but Miami will be eliminated with a loss in one of its final two games.
Remaining schedule: at Browns, at Jets
Eliminated from playoff contention
Seven teams are eliminated from the playoff race in the AFC: Raiders, Patriots, Titans, Jets, Jaguars, Browns and Colts.
NFC playoff picture
y — clinched division x — clinched playoff berth e — eliminated from playoffs
1. Detroit Lions (13-2)
The Lions remain the No. 1 seed in the conference. They are also tied for the NFC North lead with the Vikings, but hold the head-to-head tiebreaker. Detroit will clinch the No. 1 seed with a win and a Minnesota loss.
Remaining schedule: at 49ers, vs. Vikings
2. Philadelphia Eagles (13-3)
Philadelphia clinched the NFC East and the No. 2 seed with its win over the Cowboys. The Eagles remain in the hunt for home-field advantage, but need the Lions to lose out and the Vikings to lose vs. the Packers in Week 17.
Remaining schedule: vs. Giants
3. Los Angeles Rams (10-6)
The Rams maintain their NFC West lead by a game over the Seahawks with their win over the Cardinals. Los Angeles clinches the division next week with a win, or in Week 17 if two of these five teams (Browns, Vikings, Commanders, 49ers) win due to strength of schedule.
Remaining schedule: vs. Seahawks
4. Atlanta Falcons (8-7)
The Falcons temporarily drop out of the lead in the NFC South. Atlanta holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over Tampa Bay and control its own destiny in the division.
Remaining schedule: at Commanders, vs. Panthers
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (9-7)
The Buccaneers take over the NFC South lead for the time being after beating the Panthers. They need to finish with a better record than the Falcons to win the division since they lost both games to Atlanta.
Remaining schedule: vs. Saints
5. Minnesota Vikings (13-2)
Minnesota remains the top wild-card team in the conference and is tied with Detroit for first place in the NFC North. Detroit still has the division lead via the head-to-head tiebreaker.
Remaining schedule: vs. Packers, at Lions
6. Green Bay Packers (11-4)
The Packers clinched a playoff berth and are currently the No. 6 seed in the NFC.
Remaining schedule: at Vikings, vs. Bears
7. Washington Commanders (10-5)
The Commanders can wrap up a wild-card berth win a victory over the Falcons on Sunday night.
Remaining schedule: vs. Falcons, at Cowboys
8. Seattle Seahawks (9-7)
The Seahawks are a game back for the NFC West lead, but are on life support. They could be eliminated in Week 17 due to this intriguing playoff scenario but even if they beat the Rams in Week 18, they need a miracle to get in.
Remaining schedule: at Rams
9. Atlanta Falcons (8-7)
The Falcons temporarily drop out of the lead in the NFC South. Atlanta holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over Tampa Bay and controls its own destiny in the division.
Remaining schedule: at Commanders, vs. Panthers
Eliminated from playoff contention
The Cardinals, Cowboys, 49ers, Saints, Bears, Panthers and Giants have been eliminated from the playoffs.
As we head into the final stretch of the 2024 NFL season, the playoff picture is starting to take shape. The Philadelphia Eagles have clinched the NFC East and secured the No. 2 seed in the NFC, setting themselves up for a strong playoff run. Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reclaimed the top spot in the NFC South, showing that they are a force to be reckoned with as they gear up for the postseason.
In the NFC, the Eagles have been dominant all season long, led by their dynamic offense and stout defense. With a record of 11-3, they have secured their division and are looking like serious contenders for a deep playoff run. Quarterback Jalen Hurts has been playing at an MVP level, and the defense has been locking down opponents left and right. The Eagles are definitely a team to watch as we head into the playoffs.
As for the Buccaneers, they have bounced back from a mid-season slump to reclaim the top spot in the NFC South. Led by future Hall of Famer Tom Brady, the Buccaneers have shown that they are still a force to be reckoned with in the NFC. With a record of 10-4, they are poised to make a run at the Super Bowl once again.
With the playoffs just around the corner, the race for seeding and home-field advantage is heating up. Teams like the Green Bay Packers, Los Angeles Rams, and Dallas Cowboys are all in the mix for the top spots in the NFC, while the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, and Tennessee Titans are battling it out in the AFC.
It’s shaping up to be an exciting finish to the 2024 NFL season, and fans can expect plenty of drama and excitement in the weeks to come. Stay tuned as we see which teams will punch their tickets to the playoffs and make a run at Super Bowl glory.

The AFC playoff picture is one game away from having all its teams settled. The Los Angeles Chargers wrapped up their playoff berth with a victory over the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos are one win away from doing the same.
Christmas Day games had major playoff implications around the NFL, thanks to all four of the teams playing holding a spot in the AFC playoffs. The Kansas City Chiefs needed just one victory to lock up home-field advantage in the AFC, and they earned it by defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers in the opener of the Christmas Day doubleheader.
The Steelers have lost the AFC North lead, as the Baltimore Ravens took over first place in the division with their blowout victory over the Houston Texans. Baltimore is one win away from clinching the AFC North.
Below is a breakdown of the conference standings with the Week 17 slate underway:
AFC playoff picture
z — clinched first-round bye y — clinched division x — clinched playoff berth e — eliminated from playoffs
1. Kansas City Chiefs (15-1)
The Chiefs wrapped up the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage with their win over the Steelers. Kansas City gets the lone bye in the conference and can rest its starters in Week 18.
Remaining schedule: at Broncos
2. Buffalo Bills (12-3)
The Bills needed the Chiefs to lose out to still have a shot at the No. 1 seed. That didn’t happen, so the Bills need a win in their final two games to lock up the No. 2 seed.
They will be at least the No.
The Chargers clinched a playoff berth their win over the Patriots. The Steelers hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Chargers for the No. 5 seed.
The Broncos are a win away from clinching a playoff spot, needing just one victory in their final two games.
Remaining schedule: at Bengals, vs. Chiefs
8. Indianapolis Colts (7-8)
The Colts are two games out of the final wild-card spot in the AFC, but are eliminated from playoff contention with one loss or if the Chargers and Broncos both win. The Colts have the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Dolphins for the No. 8 seed by virtue of their Week 7 victory and own the tiebreaker over the Bengals based on having a better conference record (6-5) than Cincinnati (4-6).
The Dolphins’ AFC playoff hopes are still alive, but Miami will be eliminated with a loss or if the Chargers and Broncos both win. Miami is two games behind Denver for the final playoff spot and holds the conference-record tiebreaker (6-5) over Cincinnati (4-6).
Remaining schedule: at Browns, at Jets
10. Cincinnati Bengals (7-8)
The Bengals remain the No. 10 seed in the AFC, needing significant help to earn a playoff berth. Cincinnati needs to jump multiple teams and win out to have a shot at the playoffs, as the Bengals are two games back of the Broncos and play them in Week 17. They can’t lose another game.
Remaining schedule: vs. Broncos, at Steelers
Eliminated from playoff contention
Six teams are eliminated from the playoff race in the AFC: Raiders, Patriots, Titans, Jets, Jaguars and Browns.
NFC playoff picture
x — clinched playoff berth e — eliminated from playoffs
Vikings
2. Philadelphia Eagles (12-3)
The Eagles remain in the hunt for home-field advantage, but need the Lions to lose out, the Vikings to lose next week and for Minnesota to beat Detroit in Week 18. Philadelphia can clinch the NFC East and the No. 2 seed with a win in one of its final two games.
Remaining schedule: vs. Cowboys, vs. Giants
3. Los Angeles Rams (9-6)
The Rams lead the NFC West by a game over the Seahawks with two to play. Los Angeles clinches the division next week with a win and a Seattle loss.
Remaining schedule: vs. Cardinals, vs. Seahawks
4. Atlanta Falcons (8-7)
The Falcons lead the NFC South and can clinch the division with a win and Buccaneers loss. Atlanta holds the head-to-head tiebreaker over Tampa Bay and control its own destiny in the division.
Remaining schedule: at Commanders, vs. Panthers
5. Minnesota Vikings (13-2)
Minnesota remains the top wild-card team in the conference and is tied with Detroit for first place in the NFC North. Detroit still has the division lead via the head-to-head tiebreaker.
Remaining schedule: vs. Packers, at Lions
6. Green Bay Packers (11-4)
The Packers clinched a playoff berth and are currently the No. 6 seed in the NFC.
Remaining schedule: at Vikings, vs. Bears
7. Washington Commanders (10-5)
The Commanders lead the Buccaneers and Seahawks by two games for the final playoff spot in the conference. They clinch a playoff berth with a win next week (or a Buccaneers loss).
Remaining schedule: vs. Falcons, at Cowboys
8. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-7)
The Buccaneers dropped from NFC South leaders to out of the playoff picture. They need to finish with a better record than the Falcons to win the division since they lost both games to Atlanta. A loss this week also wraps up a playoff berth for the Commanders.
Remaining schedule: vs. Panthers, vs. Saints
9. Seattle Seahawks (8-7)
The Seahawks are 1.5 games back of the Commanders for the final wild-card spot after their win over the Bears. They are also 0.5 game back for the NFC West lead, but the Rams hold the head-to-head tiebreaker. A Rams win Saturday doesn’t eliminate the Seahawks from the NFC West, but there is an intriguing playoff scenario in Week 17 which Seattle could lose the division.
Remaining schedule: at Rams
