  • Rice Owls vs. Memphis Tigers: How to watch, schedule, live stream info, start time, TV channel

    Who’s Playing

    Memphis Tigers @ Rice Owls

Current Records: Memphis 16-4, Rice 11-10

    How To Watch

    What to Know

We’ve got another exciting American Athletic matchup on schedule as the Memphis Tigers and the Rice Owls are set to tip at 3:00 p.m. ET on Sunday at Tudor Fieldhouse. The Owls are crawling into this matchup hobbled by six consecutive losses, while the Tigers will bounce in with four consecutive wins.

Memphis can’t be too worried about heading out to take on Rice: they just beat Tulane at home, who had been dominant on their own court up to that point. Memphis came out on top against Tulane by a score of 68-56 on Thursday.

Dain Dainja was the offensive standout of the match as he dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.

Meanwhile, Rice couldn’t handle South Florida on Tuesday and fell 69-64. The Owls were up 32-18 in the first but couldn’t hold on to the lead.

Rice’s loss came about despite a quality game from Denver Anglin, who had 17 points plus two steals.

Memphis has been performing incredibly well recently as they’ve won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Rice, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-10.

This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Memphis just can’t miss this season, having made 47.1% of their field goals per game. It’s a different story for Rice, though, as they’ve only made 41.7% of their field goals this season. Given Memphis’ sizable advantage in that area, Rice will need to find a way to close that gap.

Looking forward, Memphis shouldn’t be too worried about this matchup, as the experts have them favored by 10.5 points. This contest will be their tenth straight as the favorites (so far over this stretch they are 4-5 against the spread).

    Odds

Memphis is a big 10.5-point favorite against Rice, according to the latest college basketball odds.

The oddsmakers had a good feel for the line for this one, as the game opened with the Tigers as a 10-point favorite.

    The over/under is 145.5 points.

    What to Know

Tulane and Tulsa are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. Both will face off in an American Athletic battle at 2:00 p.m. ET on Sunday at Fogelman Arena in Devlin Fieldhouse. The Green Wave are strutting in with some offensive muscle as they’ve averaged 75.6 points per game this season.

Tulane is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 82 points last Saturday, they were much more limited against Memphis on Thursday. They fell 68-56 to the Tigers. The match marked the Green Wave’s lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the defeat, Tulane had strong showings from Rowan Brumbaugh, who had 19 points plus seven rebounds, and Kaleb Banks, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. Brumbaugh had some trouble finding his footing against Rice last Saturday, so this was a step in the right direction.

Meanwhile, Tulsa couldn’t handle UAB on Wednesday and fell 78-68. The Golden Hurricane have struggled against the Blazers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

The losing side was boosted by Dwon Odom, who went 7 for 10 en route to 17 points plus eight rebounds and seven assists. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in offensive rebounds (five). Isaiah Barnes, on the other hand, was considerably less helpful: he went 0-5 from deep.

Even though they lost, Tulsa smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they’ve now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Tulane’s loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9. As for Tulsa, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.

Going forward, Tulane is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 9.5 points. For those looking to play the spread, keep Tulane’s opponent in mind: they have a solid 7-3 record against the spread vs Tulsa over their last ten matchups.

Tulane beat Tulsa 94-87 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Does Tulane have another victory up their sleeve, or will Tulsa turn the tables on them? We’ll have the answer soon enough.

    Odds

Tulane is a big 9.5-point favorite against Tulsa, according to the latest college basketball odds.

The oddsmakers were right in line with the betting community on this one, as the game opened as a 9.5-point spread, and stayed right there.

    The over/under is 143.5 points.

Detroit is 24-24 on the season and is currently seventh in the East, while Chicago is 21-28 and sits 10th in the standings. Why the Pistons can cover

Detroit got back to .500 on the season on Friday with a 117-102 win over the Dallas Mavericks. First-time NBA All-Star Cade Cunningham had 40 points in the victory, while Jalen Duren added a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds.

The triumph ended a three-game losing streak where the Pistons had failed to cover the spread in all three outings. Detroit is now 23-23-2 against the spread this season and Jaden Ivey (leg) is the only player currently listed on its injury report. See which team to back at SportsLine.

    Why the Bulls can cover

Meanwhile, Chicago is coming off a 122-106 win over the Toronto Raptors on Friday despite playing without Zach LaVine (personal). LaVine is once again listed as doubtful for Sunday’s contest, but Coby White will be in the lineup coming off a 25-point outburst. Nikola Vucevic will also start after supplying 21 points and 13 rebounds on Friday.

The Bulls have covered the spread in two of their last three games and have won in 10 of their last 11 trips to Detroit. Billy Donovan’s squad had seven of the nine players in its rotation on Friday reach double-figures in scoring and he’ll be hoping for a similarly team-oriented performance on Sunday. See which team to back at SportsLine.

How to make Pistons vs. Bulls picks

SportsLine’s model has simulated Chicago vs. Detroit and is leaning Under the total, projecting 226 combined points. The model also says one side of the spread hits in well over 50% of simulations. You can head to SportsLine to see the model’s NBA picks

So who wins Bulls vs. Pistons on Sunday, and which side of the spread hits well over 50% of the time? Visit SportsLine now to see which side of the Pistons vs. Bulls spread to back, all from the model that has returned well over $10,000 on top-rated NBA picks, and find out.

The Chicago Bulls will face off against the Detroit Pistons on February 2, 2025, in what is sure to be an exciting matchup. With both teams looking to secure a win, fans can expect a competitive game with plenty of action on the court.

The odds and line for this game are currently favoring the Bulls, who are the stronger team on paper. However, the Pistons have shown that they are capable of pulling off an upset, so this game is far from a sure thing.

Our prediction for this game is that the Bulls will come out on top, thanks to their superior talent and experience. However, the Pistons are not to be underestimated, and they could make things interesting if they are able to play to their full potential.

The game is set to start at [insert start time], so be sure to tune in to catch all the action. And if you’re looking to place a bet on the game, our best bet is to put your money on the Bulls to cover the spread.

Overall, this should be a thrilling game between two talented teams, and we can’t wait to see how it all plays out on the court.

  • USC women run win streak to 15 games, continue historic start to season

Playing its first home game in 18 days, the USC women’s basketball team gave an impressive crowd inside Galen Center what it came to see Thursday night.

The No. 4-ranked Trojans built a quick double-digit lead in the first quarter and went on to close out an 82-69 win over Minnesota, running their win streak to 15 games — the longest for the program since the 1982-83 season.

Kiki Iriafen led the way with 23 points and 11 rebounds on 9-of-11 shooting, JuJu Watkins had 20 points and 11 boards and freshman Avery Howell added 12 points off the bench as the Trojans improved to 19-1 overall — the best start for USC since 1981-82 — and 9-0 in the Big Ten.

Sophie Hart had 18 points and 8 rebounds for Minnesota (18-4, 6-4) while Mallory Heyer added 17 points and 7 boards.

That the Trojans made it look so easy yet again against one of the better teams in the Big Ten was the latest reminder that they are scripting a very special season.

“It was nice to be home. Our crowd is continuing to be amazing. It was a long time that we didn’t get to play here,” USC coach Lindsay Gottlieb said. “Minnesota is a really good team. I told the team a number of times, they had the same number of wins as us. They’re at the top section of the conference, and we thought we took care of business.”

USC had its long stretch away from home in part because its Jan. 15 home game vs. Northwestern was postponed in the wake of the fires across Los Angeles.

In their return to Galen Center, the Trojans were without starting center Rayah Marshall due to injury and Watkins started the game 0 for 10 from the field in the first half before finding her rhythm offensively.

None of that mattered as the Trojans led 25-15 after the first quarter led by 9 points from Iriafen and 6 from Talia von Oelhoffen.

The game never got closer than 6 points the rest of the way. Minnesota opened the fourth quarter on a 9-0 run, but USC scored 10 of the next 12 points — including 7 straight from Watkins — to pull away comfortably.

“We didn’t know that Rayah wasn’t going to play until this morning, so I thought other people stepped up finding different ways to win,” Gottlieb said. “I think our freshmen, who got significant minutes, were really, really good and they keep getting better, which is exciting. And at the same time, I think our standards are really high — we could have been cleaner offensively and defensively in that second half so we’ll have some good film to learn from it as well.”

As for Watkins’ slow start …

“I thought her teammates really lifted her up. The fact that people are going to continue to give us open 3s when she’s crowded and we continue to knock them down — that’s the second game in a row that I think we’ve made 11 3s — I think will eventually make people really have to make decisions,” Gottlieb said. “But I think she’s a very mentally tough human being and basketball player and finds a way at some point to figure it out. … I don’t think any of us were surprised the shots went down in the second half.”

Iriafen notched her seventh double-double of the season and Watkins her fourth. Watkins has scored in double figures every game this season.

Howell, meanwhile, tied her high with 4 3-pointers for the second straight game and is 8-for-13 from long distance in that span.

“I’m always in the gym, whether that’s outside of practice or during practices, but I think just I’m getting more comfortable with the role and the attention other people on our team draw,” she said. “I think I’m doing a better job finding gaps and putting myself in the best position to be a pressure release for them.”

The USC women’s basketball team is on fire this season, extending their win streak to an impressive 15 games. With each victory, they continue to make history and solidify their status as a powerhouse in college basketball.

The team’s relentless determination and cohesive teamwork have been the driving forces behind their success. Led by their talented roster of players and a skilled coaching staff, the USC women have proven themselves as a force to be reckoned with on the court.

Their historic start to the season has fans and analysts alike buzzing with excitement. The team’s impressive performance has solidified their spot as a top contender in the conference and has put them on the radar of national recognition.

As they continue to dominate their opponents and rack up wins, the USC women are showing no signs of slowing down. With their sights set on a championship title, this team is one to watch as they continue to make waves in the world of college basketball.

Exciting news for Gent fans as David Hubert has decided to start with a very attacking lineup in a 4-3-3 formation. The surprise inclusion is that Sven Kums will be starting on the bench for this match. Stay tuned for live updates as Gent takes on their opponents with this aggressive strategy! #Gent #4-3-3 #AttackMode

  • ‘I was in the Liverpool end & think it’s time for us to start believing!’ – Liverpool FC

Liverpool went nine points clear at the top of the Premier League with their 2-0 win over Bournemouth, and the away supporters were jubilant as they started to believe title No. 20 could be on the way.

Mo Salah‘s second goal was nearly as unexpected as it was brilliant.

Coming during a period of Bournemouth pressure, the goal was a showcase of why the Egyptian has been so important to Liverpool for the last seven-and-a-half years.

His strike, of course, sent the away section at the Vitality Stadium into raptures and the buoyant mood continued on the journey home.

Here, Chloe Bloxam (@ChloeBloxam) gives her reaction to Liverpool’s win from the coach home, while Sam Millne (@sam_millne) discusses some of the key talking points.

    The good…

CHLOE: It had everything you need in that game to win a league title.

It had the luck, and we rode our luck at times; it had the massive individual performances – Andy Robertson who I’ve been a little bit critical of this season, he was phenomenal.

Alisson, who’s had some criticism over the last couple of weeks, was incredible – a saviour today.

You had Mo Salah who was absolutely sensational and just does what he does, game in game out. And that finish, the way he just caresses it so effortlessly into the back of the net, he is on a different planet right now.

The midfield was boss but with that bit of luck that we had and the quality that we had, we also had grit determination and fight.

We had to do so much running and so many hard yards, because they are a brilliant side and they don’t give you a second of rest. Liverpool had to fight, they had to dig deep, they had to want it, and we definitely did all of that.

SAM: Saturday was never going to be an easy outing for Liverpool.

Thankfully, they had got the job done in Europe early so could come into this one refreshed. This seemed particularly noticeable in all three midfielders, who covered immense amounts of ground against a good team willing to commit men forward.

While Luis Diaz didn’t contribute to either of the Reds’ goals, he deserves a mention for the sheer amount of graft he put in going back towards his own goal.

Only Ryan Gravenberch (13) contested more duels than the Colombian, with Diaz winning five of his 11. He also made six recoveries in the game – only Gravenberch, Virgil van Dijk and Dominik Szoboszlai managed more.

    The bad…

SAM: The performance as a whole was excellent, though as Chloe alludes to below, Bournemouth should have done better with their chances as they hit the woodwork twice.

Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s injury is the obvious other downside of the game. We don’t yet know the diagnosis, but it looked like a hamstring issue at first glance and, if that is the case, it would be the third time in 18 months he has missed football due to problems of this type.

That is conjecture, though. What we do know is that he is a doubt for the Tottenham game on Thursday. Thankfully, Conor Bradley is a more-than-able deputy!

CHLOE: We weren’t defensively excellent, we had to have big moments. That was perhaps the only negative, but I just felt like the game had absolutely everything.

Every side of Liverpool was on show. Every weapon that they had and they possess, they showed today. They showed that they can get through games of football, win by any means and fight through tough periods.

But they also showed how you can control, how you can dominate, how stars can make the difference and also, they showed that we are a team that can go on and win this title.

Is the feeling in the away end still apprehensive about the title or are we confident now?

CHLOE: The crowd believed, they’re starting to believe.

After the second goal, the bouts of ‘A Liverbird Upon My Chest’ were absolutely incredible. You can hear us start singing about the league, about being top of the league.

You can feel the belief building and it’s for the players on the pitch to stay humble to, keep up the work and to not think about it.

It’s time for us as fans to start believing it, to start backing the players, because these players so far this season have given us absolutely no reason to doubt that they can come through the other side.

And I’m not going to go too early and say it’s ours, because it’s absolutely not. It’s not over but we’ve given ourselves an incredible foundation and we just need to keep riding the wave that we’re on and hopefully bounce into each and every single game and see what we can make of it.

But yeah, an absolutely incredible away end, an incredible away day and hopefully much more to come.

As a die-hard Liverpool fan who was lucky enough to be in the Liverpool end for the recent match, I have to say – it’s time for us to start believing in this team. The atmosphere at Anfield was electric, and the passion from the fans was palpable.

Despite a few shaky moments, the team showed incredible resilience and determination to come out on top. The players fought for every ball, and their chemistry on the pitch was undeniable. From the precision passing to the clinical finishes, it was clear that this team has what it takes to compete at the highest level.

With key players stepping up when it mattered most and the depth of our squad shining through, there’s no reason why we can’t push for success this season. It’s time for us as fans to rally behind the team, to believe in their abilities, and to support them through thick and thin.

So let’s raise our voices, wave our scarves, and show the world that we are proud to be Liverpool supporters. This team has the potential to achieve great things, and it’s up to us to be the 12th man and help them get there. Believe in the Reds, believe in the magic of Anfield, and let’s make this season one to remember. Up the mighty Reds! #YNWA #LiverpoolFC

  • Bompastor reflects on start to 2025 and assesses Chelsea’s key partnerships | News | Official Site

January could not have gone better for Sonia Bompastor and her Chelsea side, with four wins from four matches in all competitions and our place at the top of the WSL cemented.

Ahead of Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa, Bompastor has reflected on this productive period following the winter break.

It is not only our wins that have given her satisfaction, it is the manner they have been earned and the steps the players have taken to advance the team’s development.

‘I’m really pleased with the way we’ve started 2025,’ said Bompastor. ‘We’ve been able to win the games but also have really good performances in possession. We have created a lot of chances in almost every game and were able to score. There have been a lot of positives in and out of possession because we didn’t concede any goals.

‘The fact we are unpredictable has impressed me most,’ added the head coach. ‘We have different players who are able to score, and we also put in a team performance that allows the individuals to express their talent and quality on the pitch.

‘Danger can come from anyone in the team, and everyone plays for the team and the badge. That is what I am most pleased with.’

Bompastor has been able to make full use of her squad in recent weeks, with the start of our journeys in the domestic cup competitions offering game time to some players who have found themselves out of the starting XI in the WSL.

However, the head coach is unfazed by who she picks, such is her trust in the depth of talent at her disposal. She is also delighted to see certain partnerships forming on the pitch, and she has expanded on some that have stood out at the start of the year.

‘What is good is when you change the options it doesn’t affect the team performance and results,’ Bompastor said. ‘It’s always good for a manager to have this quality in your squad.

‘The backline – Millie [Bright] and Nat [Bjorn] – have been working really hard and they have a pretty good chemistry together. They are really solid out of possession and manage the other players.

‘In midfield, the connection between Sio [Nusken] and Erin [Cuthbert] has been impressive. On the right side, Lucy [Bronze] and JoJo [Rytting Kaneryd].

‘I have a lot of quality on our left side,’ continued Bompastor. ‘I have different options as well. One can be Niamh [Charles] as a full-back and Sandy [Baltimore] as a left winger. They are building their connection together. I have different options: Sandy can play lower, and Guro [Reiten] and LJ [Lauren James] can play in that winger position.

‘We have a lot of different options. Mayra [Ramirez] up front is doing well, and we have the option to play Aggie [Beever-Jones] in different forward positions. We have a lot of quality going into every game depending on what we need.’

It is that quality that bodes well for the months ahead.

As we enter the second month of 2025, Chelsea Women’s head coach Sonia Bompastor took some time to reflect on the team’s performance so far and assess the key partnerships that have been crucial to their success.

Bompastor, who took over as head coach in 2024, has seen Chelsea Women make an impressive start to the year, with strong performances in both domestic and international competitions. The team currently sits at the top of the Women’s Super League table and is also in contention for the Women’s Champions League.

One of the key partnerships that Bompastor highlighted was the connection between veteran forward Fran Kirby and new signing Lauren James. The duo has been instrumental in Chelsea’s attacking play, with Kirby’s experience and goal-scoring prowess complementing James’ pace and creativity.

Bompastor also praised the strong defensive partnership between Magdalena Eriksson and Millie Bright, who have been rock-solid at the back and have helped Chelsea keep clean sheets in several important matches.

In addition to on-field partnerships, Bompastor also emphasized the importance of the team’s partnerships with sponsors and supporters. She expressed her gratitude for the continued support from sponsors like Nike and Barclays, as well as the unwavering dedication of Chelsea’s fans.

Looking ahead, Bompastor is optimistic about Chelsea’s prospects for the rest of the season and is confident that the team’s key partnerships will continue to drive their success on and off the pitch. Stay tuned for more updates on Chelsea Women’s journey in 2025.
