The 2012 revisionist western, written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, follows a slave named Django who’s determined to reunite with his wife after she was sold to the owner of the Candyland plantation. Django teams up with a bounty hunter as they set across the south to collect what’s theirs.
The film was stocked with an A-list cast, including Samuel L. Jackson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, and Christoph Waltz.

Earlier this month, Jamie sat down with Vanity Fair for the latest episode of their popular series Scene Selection. The Oscar-winning actor took a trip down memory lane to share some fun tidbits and behind-the-scenes facts about some of his most memorable roles.
“The subject matter, the N-word specifically, Leo had a hard time saying the N-word,” Jamie told Vanity Fair. “We’re doing a read, and Leo says ‘nigger,’ and then he goes, ‘Hey man, hey guys, cut. I just can’t do this. This is not me.’”

Samuel tried to help Leo feel more comfortable getting into character, but it was that last push from Jamie that really set the tone, because once he told Leo not to look at him as a friend, his whole demeanor changed on set.

“So, the next day, I see Leo. I said, ‘Leo, what’s up? L, L, what’s up?’” But Leo didn’t even acknowledge him. It was at that point that Jamie realized Leo took his advice into consideration.

Shohei Ohtani return to pitching won’t be stopped by Dodgers additions for one reason
The Los Angeles Dodgers ran the gauntlet and won the World Series in 2024, all with Shohei Ohtani relegated to exclusively the DH role. The $700 million man, recovering from his second major elbow surgery, was therefore a “position player” by default.
Now, with Blake Snell and Roki Sasaki on their way and a revamped bullpen in tow, some were wondering if Ohtani might transition to the DH role full-time and forgo his two-way status. The 30-year-old appeared to benefit from his laser focus on hitting, putting together his best individual campaign to date as the leadoff hitter in baseball’s least forgiving lineup.
Ohtani slashed .310/.390/.646 with 54 home runs and 130 RBI on his way to a third MVP award. He also stole 59 bases, just to rub it in. The Dodgers’ offense was an unrivaled buzzsaw, with Ohtani dominating in front of the protective blanket provided by Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman.
That said, the Dodgers are going to pitch Ohtani in 2025 — and the reasons extend beyond his well-documented utility on the mound.

Sure, Ohtani is a great pitcher at full strength, but there is understandable trepidation about pushing him too hard after another elbow surgery. The Dodgers can also field a more-than-competent five-man rotation without Ohtani. Snell, Sasaki, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow, maybe even Clayton Kershaw? Most teams would kill for such a deep and accomplished group.
Why risk it then? Well, one, because Ohtani is as good as anybody on the mound when he’s humming. And two, because the Dodgers will benefit from the roster flexibility inherent to Ohtani as a “two-way” player.
Ken Rosenthal explained it around the 19:49 mark of the latest Foul Territory episode.
Once Ohtani pitches 20 innings and logs at least 20 games with at least three at-bats — a milestone he should clear fairly early in the season — he can officially be logged as a two-way player on the Dodgers roster. That effectively allows Los Angeles to roster 14 pitchers, one more than the standard limit of 13 on an MLB roster.
That is an incredible advantage only the Dodgers will receive, on top of the myriad other perks inherent to being baseball’s biggest spender. Few assets are more valuable to a contender than pitching depth. Los Angeles has already shelled out top dollar not only to bolster its starting rotation, but to equip its bullpen.
By designating Ohtani as a two-way player, the Dodgers will be able to roster 13 pitchers in addition to Ohtani. That helps insure against injuries and gives Los Angeles a leg up on the competition not only for the regular season, but in the playoffs as well.
Ohtani made 23 starts on the mound in his final season with the Angels, posting a 3.14 ERA and 167 strikeouts across 132.0 innings. That alone is enough to convince folks that Ohtani can (and should) pitch. That it also boosts LA’s depth is the cherry on top of a gluttonous, borderline unfair sundae.

Lily Phillips has revealed that she was stopped by border security when entering Las Vegas after she gained notoriety for having sex with 101 men in a day.
Phillips is a 23-year-old OnlyFans creator from the U.K. who began her career in the adult entertainment industry at 18. She went viral on TikTok in October after she revealed she was setting her goal of sleeping with 100 men in 14 hours.
Phillips rented a two-bedroom Airbnb in London to complete the mission, where she ended up sleeping with 101 men. Now, she plans to sleep with 1,000 men during a day, which she had originally planned to film in America.
During an episode of the RAW TALK podcast, Phillips recounted the “intense” experience of being stopped at the border and being questioned over the stunt.
Newsweek emailed a spokesperson for Phillips for comment on Thursday.

“I got stopped at the border, so that was, that was intense. We got stopped for, like, two hours … they were like, ‘we heard you’re here to f*** a thousand guys,’” Phillips claimed, before saying border patrol brought up her account on PornHub.
“I don’t think they quite recognize[d] me but my stage name is the exact same as my porn name so it’s, like, I guess you can just like search it up and s*** like that.”
“Wait, so it’s not your real name?” host Bradley Martyn asked, to which Phillips clarified: “No, no, that is my real name, sorry … I guess they might have, like, a database or something that they search up or something like that ’cause they were like, ‘What do you do for work?’”
Martyn questioned if border patrol knew what Phillips was on her way to do, to which she said: “I don’t know, well, that’s what they pulled me up for but I was like, it’s not illegal to have sex with a thousand guys.
Martyn added: “No, it’s just insane, it’s insane.”
A source close to Phillips told Newsweek that the OnlyFans star was concerned she’d be deported, after a friend told her that filming herself having sex with 1,000 men in America would be considered work, meaning she’d need a work visa.
Phillips also shared these concerns during an appearance on the Plug Talk podcast.
“I was meant to do it here [America], but I got quite a lot of advice saying, ‘you will be deported if you do it here,’” she told the hosts.
Phillips also went into further detail about her experience of being stopped by customs officers and grilled about her career.
“They were asking if I was a prostitute and stuff like that,” she said.
“I was very much, like, ‘yeah, I f*** all these guys but they don’t pay a penny, so it’s not prostitution. I just f*** a lot of guys!”
Phillips went viral after she starred in the YouTube documentary, I Slept With 100 Men in One Day, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at the challenge Phillips set herself, filmed by YouTuber Josh Pieters.
While Phillips shared her excitement for the stunt in a positive light, the documentary reveals how emotional she was after the event. Originally shot in October, clips shared online show Pieters documenting the aftermath of the session, with Phillips emerging from a bedroom in tears.
“When I decided to start making this documentary, I wasn’t too sure what to expect. I certainly didn’t expect to see Lily so upset at the end of it all,” Pieters said in the documentary.
Visibly sobbing, Phillips told Pieters: “Sometimes, you just disassociate, it’s not like normal sex at all.
“In my head, I can think of five, six guys, 10 guys that I remember. And that’s it. It’s just weird, isn’t it? If I didn’t have the videos, I wouldn’t have known that I’d done a hundred.”
The controversial documentary has stunned people online. Phillips is part of the shock-mining trend of taking part in outrageous stunts for attention and followers, alongside fellow adult content creator Bonnie Blue.
On the OnlyFans platform, some people make more money than some of the highest-paid sports stars.

GMPPolice stopped the driver in Bury near Manchester A Tesla Cybertruck, which is illegal to drive in the UK due to safety concerns, has been seized by police in Greater Manchester.
Officers spotted the eye-catching vehicle, which carries a price tag of about £48,000, in Whitefield, Bury, and stopped the driver on Thursday night.
In April 2024, Tesla recalled thousands of its new Cybertrucks, which weigh more than three tonnes, after concerns about its accelerator pedals.
In a social media post, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said: “Whilst this may seem trivial to some, legitimate concerns exist around the safety of other road users or pedestrians if they were involved in a collision with the Cybertruck.”
It said the vehicle, which was registered and insured abroad, was confiscated and they had reported the driver, who is a UK resident.

The Cybertruck, which is made of rocket-like, bullet-proof steel materials, was launched in 2019.
The vehicle has been on a promotional tour across the Middle East and Europe, including at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in the UK in 2024.
However, it has not yet passed UK road safety tests.
GMP said the car that was seized had been referred to Operation Wolverine, which was established in 2007 to target drivers without insurance.
The owner will have to prove ownership and correct insurance prior to release.

Cruise line has stopped visits to 2 popular ports
Seafarers should be aware that a popular cruise line has ceased docking at two popular destinations, at least for the time being, according to a report published by The Street.
Royal Caribbean has been unable to drop anchor in San Juan, Puerto Rico, with its Symphony of the Seas Oasis-class of cruise ship due to the port’s dock having been undergoing repairs since April. The U.S. Coast Guard must provide approval for the pier to resume operations, the report said.
”San Juan’s Pier 3 West receives the largest cruise ships in the world. Since the loss of the facility’s mooring structure, Coast Guard Prevention personnel have been actively working with the San Juan Cruise Port and the Puerto Rico Ports Authority to determine if the structure remains sound for cruise ship operations,” Capt. Luis J. Rodriguez, commander of USCG Sector San Juan told SeaTrade Cruise News.
The cruise line has also canceled calling on Manzanillo, Mexico, most likely due to a recent U.S. State Department level 4 “do not travel” advisory warning travelers against heading to that part of the country.
“Do not travel due to crime and kidnapping. Violent crime and gang activity are widespread. Most homicides are targeted assassinations against members of criminal organizations. Shooting incidents between criminal groups have injured or killed bystanders. U.S. citizens and [residents] have been victims of kidnapping,” the State Department posted.
In an email issued to booked passengers, the company emphasized that they’ve worked to find alternative destinations for forthcoming cruises. The revised itinerary has Symphony of the Seas now visiting Labadee, Haiti, in lieu of San Juan according to the Royal Caribbean Blog.

Anthony Hopkins Reveals Why He Stopped Drinking on 49th Anniversary of Sobriety
Anthony Hopkins is celebrating a big day ahead of the new year. Well, two big days: his 87th birthday, on Dec. 31, and the anniversary of his sobriety. The legendary actor took to Instagram on Dec. 29 to mark the occasion, revealing that he’s been sober for 49 years and reflecting on what inspired him to quit drinking — and how it’s changed his life for the better.
“Happy 29th of December!” Hopkins said in the video. “Why 29th? Well, 49 years ago today, I stopped,” he went on, making a drinking gesture. The Oscar-winning actor admitted he was “having such fun” drinking, yet decided to stop due to two main reasons. “I realized I was in big, big trouble because i couldn’t remember anything,” he explained. “And I was driving a car drunk out of my skull.”

On that day in 1975, Hopkins also concluded that he couldn’t stop on his own. “I realized I needed help, so I got it,” he explained. “I phoned up a group of people like me, alcoholic, and that was it. Sober.”
The video continues a tradition for Hopkins, who for the past two years has publicly recognized his sobriety anniversary with an inspirational, uplifting end-of-year message. In 2022, he recalled being in a “desperate situation, despair, and probably not long to live. I just happened to acknowledge one day that there was something really wrong with me.”
The moment actually occurred in an Arizona hotel room, he revealed in a 2020 New York Times interview, when he woke up with no memory of how he got there. “I thought, ‘Well, I’ve got to stop this because I’m either going to kill somebody or myself,’” Hopkins said in the interview. “My life, from that moment on, took on new meaning.”

For Hopkins part, he said that being sober has helped him lead a happier and “unexpectedly long life” as he prepares to celebrate his 87th birthday. Plus, he added, the good times didn’t stop just because he quit drinking. “I’ve had more fun these 49 years than ever,” Hopkins said. “… I got sober, and it sounds a dull word, but I’ve had a wonderful life.”
