  • Driver hurt after tug struck by plane – NBC Chicago

A plane’s wing struck an aircraft tug Saturday evening at O’Hare International Airport, critically injuring the vehicle’s driver, authorities said.

At around 6:58 p.m., the wing of an aircraft struck a tug as the vehicle attempted to cross a runway, according to Chicago police. The airport vehicle flipped over, pinning the driver beneath it. The driver, a 64-year-old man, was rushed to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in critical condition, police said.

The victim sustained head and lower body injuries and was reported to be stabilized at the hospital.

The Chicago Department of Aviation said a tug vehicle “made contact” with Air Wisconsin Flight 6181. The flight, which was operated by Air Wisconsin for American Airlines, originated in Kalamazoo, Michigan, according to the flight tracking website FlightAware.com.

No one onboard the aircraft was injured, police stated.

    Area Five detectives were investigating.

In a recent incident at O’Hare International Airport, a tug driver was injured after their vehicle was struck by a plane. The driver was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident occurred during a routine operation on the tarmac, highlighting the dangers that airport workers face every day. The exact circumstances of the accident are still under investigation, but it serves as a reminder of the importance of safety protocols and procedures in the aviation industry.

Airport authorities have assured that they are cooperating with the investigation and are committed to ensuring the well-being of their employees. Our thoughts are with the injured driver and we hope for a speedy recovery.

  • This Oscar-Winning 90% Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper-Starring Romantic Drama Has Struck a Chord on Streaming

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching and there’s a ton of films available on streaming to get you in a romantic mood. Whether it’s a comedy, a blood-soaked horror slasher, or an emotional drama, there’s something for every kind of person to enjoy leading into this heart-filled holiday. However, if you like your love stories a bit more on the tragic side, Max has you covered in its upcoming February lineup. Their diverse catalog of films will include the 2018 version of A Star is Born.

Bradley Cooper‘s directorial debut will be singing its way to Max in February and take part in the streamer’s curated list of films simply titled “Valentine’s Day”. A Star is Born will be alongside other modern classics like Mama Mia, The Notebook and Crazy Rich Asians. Despite being the third remake of the 1937 film, when it was released in 2018, A Star is Born was a massive box office and critical hit. It made over $436 million worldwide on a $36 million budget, while it has a certified-fresh rating of 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. Its audience score is also glowing at 80%. This led A Star is Born to be nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture. It only won one Oscar for Best Original Song, but “Shallows” is one of the best pieces of music to come along in that category in a very long time.

What’s ‘A Star is Born’ About?

This reimagining of A Star is Born follows mega superstar singer Jackson Maine (Cooper) after he crosses paths with a struggling artist named Ally (Lady Gaga). Quickly falling in love with her, Jackson gives her the opportunity of a lifetime, letting Ally pursue her dreams as a singer and being a star of her own. However, as Ally’s career skyrockets, Jackson takes a nosedive due to some unresolved personal demons. Their relationship has reached an impasse that they may never recover from.

There was a lot stacked against this film. It was the fourth time this story was told in the last century. This was all the while Cooper was an unproven director and Gaga’s acting credits were mainly smaller roles on television up to that point. However, in every phase, A Star is Born proved all those doubts wrong. This is a visually raw and emotional remake that puts Cooper and Gaga’s masterful chemistry on full display. From their irresistible voices to the amazing music to the dark undertones of the story, this remains a relevant romantic tragedy almost a decade later.

The film also joins Gaga’s other hard-R musical blockbuster, Joker: Folie á Deux, on Max. The latter of which she plays the villainous Harley Quinn. Tune in to watch A Star is Born when it debuts on Max.

Nicki Minaj is facing a new lawsuit from an alleged former employee who claims the “Super Bass” artist smacked him in the face at a concert venue in Detroit last April.

In his 10-page complaint filed Friday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, plaintiff Brandon Jovan Garrett claims he was working for Minaj as a “day to day manager” when Minaj’s head of security summoned him to the singer’s dressing room at the Little Caesars Arena for a meeting. Garrett alleges Minaj was upset, lamenting her belief that her staff was in disarray, and claims Minaj’s irritation turned into “rage” when one of her employees defended his performance by saying he carried out important duties such as picking up Minaj’s prescriptions. According to the lawsuit, Minaj expressed anger that Garrett had assigned the task to the other employee. Garrett says he tried in vain to explain that Minaj had asked that the prescription be picked up “immediately,” and that Garrett had no choice but to delegate the task because he was busy assisting Minaj in her quick-change room, dressing her for her performance.

    More from Rolling Stone

“Are you fucking crazy having him pick up my prescription? You have lost your fucking mind, and if my husband was here, he would knock out your fucking teeth. You’re a dead man walking. You just fucked up your whole life and you will never be anyone, I’ll make sure of it,” Minaj allegedly screamed at Garrett, according to his lawsuit obtained by Rolling Stone.

Garrett claims Minaj then “abruptly stood up, stomped her feet and walked aggressively” toward him while continuing to berate him. He claims she then “open-handedly struck” him on the right side of his face, “causing his head to swing backwards and his hat to fly off of his head.” He alleges Minaj also struck him on his right wrist, knocking documents out of his hand.

Attempts to reach a representative for Minaj were not immediately successful late Friday.

The lawsuit claims the alleged assault took place on April 21, 2024, shortly after a performance. Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 tour had a show at the Little Caesars Arena on April 20. According to reports, someone in the audience hurled an object onstage that nearly hit Minaj while she sang her megahit “Starships” that night. Minaj reportedly responded by launching the object back into the crowd.

In his lawsuit, Garrett claims that after Minaj allegedly attacked him, he fled and locked himself in a bathroom until 4 a.m. He later reported the alleged assault to police and eventually flew back to Los Angeles, where he lives. The new lawsuit names Minaj, born Onika Maraj, and her company Pink Personality as the lead defendants. It includes claims of assault, battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress as it seeks real and punitive damages to be determined at trial.

The new complaint isn’t the first time Minaj has been accused of getting physical with someone while on tour. Last March, the artist and her husband were ordered to pay a $500,000 default judgment to a security guard over an alleged backstage beating at a 2019 concert in Germany.

In a shocking turn of events, rapper Nicki Minaj is being sued by an alleged former employee who claims that she physically assaulted him. The employee, whose identity has not been revealed, alleges that Minaj “open-handedly struck” him during an altercation.

The incident is said to have occurred while the employee was working for Minaj in a professional capacity. According to reports, the employee is seeking damages for the alleged assault and is also claiming that he was subjected to verbal abuse and harassment during his time working for the rapper.

Minaj has not yet publicly commented on the lawsuit, but her legal team is reportedly preparing a response. This is not the first time the rapper has faced legal issues, as she has been involved in several high-profile lawsuits in the past.

Fans of Nicki Minaj are eagerly awaiting her response to these serious allegations and are hoping for a swift resolution to the lawsuit. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

  • Horizon Air plane was struck by an eagle, forcing flight back to the airport

Horizon Air plane was struck by an eagle, forcing flight back to the airport

A Horizon Air flight on Christmas Eve from Anchorage to Fairbanks was forced to turn around after an eagle hit the plane.

On Sunday, a major plane crash at a South Korean airport that killed 179 people and left just two survivors is also believed to have been caused by a bird strike — meaning a collision between a bird and an aircraft.

Alaska Airlines said Horizon Air Flight 2041 had just taken off at noon local time on Dec. 24 when “the crew reported a bird strike.” Alaska Air Group owns both Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air.

The flight turned around and returned about 30 minutes later, according to FlightAware data. That flight typically takes about an hour.

“The captain and first officer are trained for these situations and landed the aircraft safely without any issue. No emergency was declared,” the airline said.

The plane returned to the gate and passengers were swapped to another aircraft to make it to Fairbanks.

The airline said the aircraft was removed from service for inspection, but has since returned to service.

Passenger Michelle Tatela was visiting from Chicago when the incident happened.

“We’re in the air, and after a few minutes, we were told we were turning back around out of an abundance of caution, to come back to Anchorage,” she told NBC affiliate KTUU of Anchorage

When the plane landed back in Anchorage, she said passengers learned that a bird strike involving an eagle was behind the sudden return.

“The eagle survived at that time,” Tatela told the station. “And there were a bunch of police cars around the plane. Normally, it would be a scarier situation, but knowing that it was a bird … and then they said the eagle was going to the eagle hospital, and he had a broken wing.”

However, the eagle’s wing damage was too great for rehabilitation and it was euthanized on arrival, Bird Treatment and Learning Center Executive Director Laura Atwood said, KTUU reported.

“Everybody was really excited that they said the eagle had been removed and he was going to the sanctuary,” Tatela said. “We’re hoping for a happier ending for the eagle, but it is a jet, so there’s that.”

In the case of Sunday’s plane tragedy in South Korea, the pilot of Jeju Air Flight 2216 had declared mayday after issuing the bird strike alert, said Joo Jong-wan, director of the aviation policy division at South Korea’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.

The plane skidded off the runway while landing at Muan International Airport, about 180 miles south of Seoul, and burst into flames after crashing.

Joo said the plane was completely destroyed by the ensuing fire and a full investigation, that could take six months to three years, will take place.

The National Transportation Safety Board is leading an American team, including Boeing and the Federal Aviation Administration, that will assist South Korea in the investigation.

Horizon Air plane was struck by an eagle, forcing flight back to the airport

In a startling turn of events, a Horizon Air plane was struck by an eagle shortly after takeoff, forcing the flight to return to the airport. The incident occurred during the early morning hours as the plane was climbing to cruising altitude.

Passengers on board reported hearing a loud thud and feeling a jolt as the eagle collided with the aircraft. The pilot quickly assessed the situation and made the decision to turn back to the airport for a precautionary landing.

Thankfully, all passengers and crew members were unharmed in the incident. However, the plane sustained some damage to its exterior, prompting a thorough inspection by maintenance crews.

The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of wildlife encounters in the air and the importance of pilot training and quick decision-making in such situations.

Horizon Air officials have expressed their gratitude for the pilot’s swift actions and are working to ensure the safety and well-being of all passengers and crew members on future flights.
