    What to Know

We’ve got another exciting Missouri Valley matchup on schedule as the Illinois State Redbirds and the UIC Flames are set to tip at 5:00 p.m. ET on Sunday at CEFCU Arena. Both worked hard to overcome the odds in their previous battles and are surely both feeling confident heading into this clash.

UIC is hoping to do what Cornell couldn’t on Sunday: put an end to Illinois State’s winning streak, which now stands at four games. Illinois State narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Cornell 80-77. For those keeping track at home, that’s the closest win the Redbirds have posted since January 30th.

Illinois State got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Chase Walker out in front who scored 14 points plus seven rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Daugherty, who went 5 for 8 en route to 16 points.

UIC’s season wasn’t pretty last year but it’s starting to look like struggles are in the rearview. They walked away with a 79-68 win over Seattle last Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Flames as they’re now sitting on three straight.

Among those leading the charge was Ahmad Henderson II, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine assists. His performance made up for a slower matchup against Little Rock two weeks ago. Modestas Kancleris was another key player, posting 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and two blocks.

Even though they won, UIC struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That’s the fewest offensive rebounds they’ve posted since back in February.

Illinois State’s win bumped their record up to 8-4. As for UIC, their victory bumped their record up to 7-4.

Keep an eye on the arc in Sunday’s game: Illinois State has made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having averaged 11 threes per game. However, it’s not like UIC struggles in that department as they’ve been averaging 8.6. Given these competing strengths, it’ll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.

Looking ahead, Illinois State is the favorite in this one, as the experts expect to see them win by 5.5 points. They might be worth a quick bet since they’ve covered the spread the last five times they’ve played.

    Odds

Illinois State is a solid 5.5-point favorite against UIC, according to the latest college basketball odds.

The oddsmakers had a good feel for the line for this one, as the game opened with the Redbirds as a 6.5-point favorite.

    The over/under is 145.5 points.

NFL Week 17 injury tracker, inactives: Latest player news, updates for Sunday’s games

The playoff picture for the AFC and NFC are nearly complete, as we approach the final weeks of the 2024 NFL season. There are a few teams from each conference still fighting for their spot, while the No. 1 pick in the upcoming draft has yet to be decided for the eliminated teams.

With so much on the line this week, who is in and who is out is crucial.

The Eagles will be without Jalen Hurts, who is officially out with a concussion and in more quarterback news, Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa (hip) is doubtful and with Anthony Richardson (ankle) out, Joe Flacco will get the start for the Colts. Saints QB Derek Carr also remains sidelined with a hand injury.

The Cowboys will be without wide receiver CeeDee Lamb (shoulder) as they face the Eagles.

Among those questionable are Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill (wrist), Panthers wide receiver Xavier Legette (hip/wrist), Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers (toe) and Jets wide receiver Davante Adams.

Stay caught up below with our live updates as we keep track of who’s active and who’s inactive, along with any notable injuries throughout Sunday’s games:

NFL Week 17 Injury Tracker, Inactives: Latest Player News, Updates for Sunday’s Games

As we head into the final week of the NFL regular season, teams are dealing with injuries and roster changes that could impact their chances of making the playoffs. Here’s a look at the latest player news and updates for Sunday’s games:

    – The Baltimore Ravens will be without star quarterback Lamar Jackson, who has been ruled out with an ankle injury. Backup Tyler Huntley will get the start in his place.

    – The Green Bay Packers will be missing several key players, including wide receiver Davante Adams and defensive tackle Kenny Clark. Both players are dealing with injuries and will not suit up for Sunday’s game.

    – The Kansas City Chiefs will be without running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who is sidelined with a shoulder injury. Darrel Williams will likely see an increased workload in his absence.

    – The Los Angeles Rams will be missing defensive tackle Aaron Donald, who is dealing with a rib injury. His absence will be a big blow to their defense as they look to secure a playoff spot.

    – The New England Patriots will be without running back Damien Harris, who is out with a hamstring injury. Sony Michel will likely see an increased role in the backfield in his absence.

  • Six Things to Watch for the Titans in Sunday’s Game at the Jaguars

Six Things to Watch for the Titans in Sunday’s Game at the Jaguars

NASHVILLE – The Titans face the Jaguars on Sunday at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville.

Here’s a look at six things to watch in the contest:

Mason Rudolph will be back in the saddle at quarterback for the Titans, when he’ll be making his fifth start of the year. In seven games this season, including his four starts, Rudolph has completed 120-of-188 passes for 1,267 yards with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions, with a 79.8 rating. After turning the ball over three times this past Sunday in Indianapolis, Rudolph will be looking to play cleaner.

The Titans allowed a whopping 335 rushing yards last week against the Colts, and that was the largest total in the “Titans era.” Coaches and players alike weren’t happy about it. Now, we’ll find out if they got things fixed. The Jaguars have a pair of talented backs in Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby. The Titans will need to be more disciplined, and tackle better. It could start with some more shuffling at inside linebacker.

    Can Okonkwo Keep Momentum?

Titans tight end Chig Okonkwo has been on a roll of late, and he’d love to keep the momentum going. In the past two games, Okonkwo has 17 catches for 140 yards, including a nine-catch performance in Indianapolis. In Jacksonville, he’ll aim for his third consecutive game with eight-plus catches and 55-plus receiving yards. Okonkwo is just the third tight end in franchise history to record eight or more receptions in consecutive games, joining Delanie Walker (2015) and Jared Cook (2011). Neither of those two players did it in three straight games.

Running back Tyjae Spears has been on a heater himself of late. Spears has scored four touchdowns in the last two games, and he’s coming off a game when he recorded two rushing TDs for the first time in his career. The emergence of Spears has helped an attack that has featured Tony Pollard all season. Pollard has 230 scrimmage yards (115 per game) in two career games vs the Jaguars, including 124 scrimmage yards (102 rush, 22 rec) in the Week 14 meeting between the two teams.

The Titans have scored 30-plus points three times this season, including last week’s game in Indy, and they’ve scored 27-plus points in each of their last two games. But we all remember what happened when the Titans and Jaguars played on December 8 – the Jaguars and Titans combined for just one touchdown and 16 points in a 10-6 Jacksonville win. How’s this for something to watch: The record since 2000 for the fewest combined points between two teams to play twice is 30. The Titans and Jaguars would have to combine for fewer than 14 to break that record. No one wants to see this.

Both of these teams were eliminated from the playoffs weeks ago, so RIP to our playoff scenario graph in here. I told folks I’d keep up with the draft scenarios, so I’ll include this: The Jaguars (3rd) and Titans (5th) are both in a position to pick in the top 5, behind the Giants (2-13) and Patriots (3-12), with the Browns (3-12) and Raiders (3-12) also in the mix. The Titans have not made a top five pick since 2017 (Corey Davis, 5th). The Jaguars are a one-point favorite.

    1. Derrick Henry’s dominance: The Titans’ star running back has been unstoppable in recent weeks, and all eyes will be on him to see if he can continue his impressive performance against the Jaguars’ defense.
    2. Ryan Tannehill’s connection with his receivers: Tannehill has been solid this season, but he will need to be on point with his passes against a tough Jacksonville secondary.
    3. The Titans’ defense: Tennessee’s defense has been inconsistent at times, but they will need to step up against a Jaguars offense that has shown flashes of potential.
    4. Turnover battle: The Titans have been turnover-prone at times this season, so protecting the ball will be crucial against a Jaguars team that can capitalize on mistakes.
    5. Special teams impact: Special teams can often be the difference-maker in close games, so keep an eye on how the Titans’ special teams unit performs on Sunday.
    6. Coaching decisions: Head coach Mike Vrabel will have some tough decisions to make throughout the game, so watch for how his decisions impact the outcome of the game.
