  • Black Warrant: Real-life Sunil Kumar Gupta says Charles Sobhraj could’ve taken advantage of him if he was a woman, describes him as ‘beautiful’ | Web-series News

Black Warrant, the new Netflix series that follows rookie jailer Sunil Kumar Gupta’s trials and tribulations inside Delhi’s Tihar Jail, presents serial killer Charles Sobhraj as an enigmatic charmer. And if the real-life Sunil is to be believed, Sobhraj was quite the lady-killer. In fact, Sunil believed that he, too, would have danced to Sobhraj’s tunes if he was a woman. In the show, Sunil is played by Zahan Kapoor and Sobhraj is played by Sidhant Gupta.

In an earlier chat with The Lallantop, Sunil Kumar Gupta, who also co-authored the book Black Warrant with journalist Sunetra Choudhury, recalled his experiences with Sobhraj and said that the serial killer called him after he was released from prison in 2022. Sobhraj read his book and assured Sunil that he would help him promote it. Recalling the early 1980s, he said that the serial killer’s word had more value than that of an IG (Inspector General).

When asked why, Sunil explained, “He was known as the ‘lady killer’ and sometimes, I wondered that if I was a lady, he could’ve taken advantage of me. The way he spoke, there was a charm to it. He had a beautiful face, sharp eyes.” He said that at this time, there were two murder and rape cases against Sobhraj. He proceeded to talk about his modus operandi. Sunil said that Sobhraj operated out of Goa and would start by befriending female foreigners. “He could charm any woman, age no bar,” he said. After developing a friendship with them, he would call them for dinner, drug them, rape them and then run away with all their belongings. “He was a brutal man,” he recalled.

Sunil then spoke about Sobhraj’s female fandom during his time in Tihar, and said that the day he would get any female visitors, he would make an effort in getting ready. “He had lots of shoes, which was allowed then,” he said. Sobhraj would smell like he bathed in perfume, and Sunil could smell it from quite a distance. Sunil said that because of his designation at the time, most of these meetings would happen in his room. He said women from different walks of life would come in to interview him and Sobhraj made an effort every single time.

After being released from prison in Nepal in 2022, Sobhraj was deported to France. Black Warrant, directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, is co-produced by Applause Entertainment, Andolan Production, and Confluence Media.

  • “Ego Took Over”: Sunil Gavaskar Justifies “Stupid, Stupid, Stupid” Rant At Rishabh Pant

“Ego Took Over”: Sunil Gavaskar Justifies “Stupid, Stupid, Stupid” Rant At Rishabh Pant

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has opened up on his viral rant criticising wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant after the latter’s dismissal on Day 3 of the 4th Test in Melbourne. On Saturday, Pant went across and attempted to scoop Scott Boland to fine leg, only to get a big leading edge for Nathan Lyon to complete a simple catch at deep third man. Gavaskar, who was on commentary duty for ABC Sport, lost his cool at Pant, saying that the wicketkeeper let the team down by throwing his wicket away when India needed him the most.

Just a day after a video of him cricising Pant had gone viral on social media, Gavaskar has now clarified his remarks. The legendary batter said he is extremely passionate about Indian cricket, even though he retired from cricket more than three decades back.

“Honestly, this game has made me. Indian cricket has made me. So when I see somebody as talented as Rishabh Pant play that shot ….and I had no problems with the first shot he played. The reason why I got upset was the ego took over for the next ball. I’ve just been hit in the midriff attempting a similar shot. I’m gonna show the bowler who’s the boss. Test cricket is not easy,” said Gavaskar.

“When he got out and got out at the other end …and I was always saying that they have got two fielders there in the deep. And this is a big ground it’s not easy to hit the sixes. You’ve got the fielders in the catching position. Deep square leg and deep fine leg. But when he got caught at third man with the edge. I’ve seen him play some fabulous innings, Rishabh Pant. But here in Australia, I get the impression he thinks that’s the only way he’s going to score runs here. He’s stepping down the pitch and lofting the ball and getting a boundary,,” he added.

“But that’s not always the way he scored runs in the past. He has, of course, played those shots, and those have been outrageously good. But it looks like he’s doing that … I’ve seen him play the cover drive along the ground very well. The square cut, the pull shot he plays so well, the flick off the pads. Everything he’s got,” he added.

Speaking further, Gavaskar said, “Yes, if he had connected and it had gone for a 6, I would’ve applauded the shot as well. But there you are, you get out, and it’s a fine line with the bat between being carefree and careless. And I thought he crossed that line.”

In a recent interview, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar addressed his controversial comments about wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, where he had called Pant “stupid, stupid, stupid” for his shot selection during a match.

Gavaskar admitted that his ego had taken over when he made those comments and that he deeply regretted them. He explained that as a former cricketer, he sometimes gets carried away with emotions and forgets to consider the impact of his words on the players.

Gavaskar emphasized that he has nothing but respect for Pant’s talent and potential, and that his outburst was a moment of weakness. He also acknowledged that as a senior figure in Indian cricket, he has a responsibility to support and encourage young players like Pant, rather than criticizing them publicly.

In conclusion, Gavaskar apologized to Pant and his fans for his harsh words and vowed to be more mindful of his language in the future. He urged fans and critics to remember that players are human too and deserve understanding and support, especially during tough times on the field.

  • Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar Slam Rohit Sharma’s Captaincy

Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar Slam Rohit Sharma’s Captaincy

Recently, former Indian cricketers Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar have come out to criticize Rohit Sharma’s captaincy during the ongoing series against South Africa. Both legendary cricketers have expressed their disappointment with Sharma’s leadership on the field, pointing out several key areas where they believe he has fallen short.

Shastri, who himself served as the head coach of the Indian cricket team, was particularly scathing in his assessment of Sharma’s captaincy. He criticized Sharma for his defensive field placements and lack of aggression in setting attacking fields to put pressure on the opposition batsmen. Shastri also questioned Sharma’s decision-making during key moments of the match, pointing out instances where he failed to make proactive decisions that could have turned the game in India’s favor.

Gavaskar, another former Indian captain and cricketing legend, echoed Shastri’s sentiments, expressing his disappointment with Sharma’s leadership on the field. Gavaskar pointed out Sharma’s inability to inspire his bowlers and make tactical changes to exploit the weaknesses of the South African batsmen. He also criticized Sharma for his lack of communication with his players and failure to set a positive example with his own performances on the field.

Both Shastri and Gavaskar believe that Sharma’s captaincy has been below par and have called for him to step up and show more aggression and assertiveness in leading the Indian team. They feel that Sharma needs to be more proactive in his decision-making and show more confidence in his abilities as a leader.

Despite the criticism from these two cricketing greats, Sharma has received support from other quarters, with some praising his calm demeanor and ability to remain composed under pressure. However, there is no denying that the pressure is mounting on Sharma to deliver results as captain, and he will need to make some changes to his leadership style if he wants to silence his critics and lead India to victory in the upcoming matches.

In conclusion, the criticism from Ravi Shastri and Sunil Gavaskar highlights the high expectations placed on Rohit Sharma as the captain of the Indian cricket team. It remains to be seen how Sharma will respond to this criticism and whether he can rise to the challenge and prove his detractors wrong in the remaining matches of the series against South Africa.

Nitish Kumar Reddy’s father, Mutyala Reddy, touched legendary Sunil Gavaskar’s feet in an emotional meeting on the sidelines of the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) after his son scored a maiden Test ton against Australia on Saturday in the ongoing fourth Test. The 21-year-old Reddy’s remarkable maiden Test century against Australia helped India keep the first-innings deficit to 105 runs, which could have been in excess of 200 after the visitors were reduced to 221 for seven in reply to the hosts’ 474 at one stage. “You know about the big sacrifices he made (in Nitish’s journey) and because of you I have tears in my eyes. India has found a gem in cricket because of you,” said Gavaskar in a voice subdued by emotions.

Nitish’s mother, who too was emotional, told Gavaskar that she was still not able to believe that her son was playing at such a big venue and produced such a “big innings”.

Mutyala, who battled a sea of emotions on Saturday as his son produced a doughty hundred to keep India in the contest, thanked everyone and touched Gavaskar’s feet as a mark of respect.

Coming in at No. 8, Reddy was eventually dismissed for 114 off 189 balls with 11 fours and a six on Day Four morning.

“More importantly, the way he batted, showcasing his talent and discipline, which is why you and Irfan were speaking (while commentating),” Shastri told Star Sports.

“I was tongue-tied and I had tears in my eyes. I don’t get tears (of joy) in my eyes that easily. I enjoyed watching (Reddy’s innings) yesterday,” he added.

“Stupid, Go Back To…”: Sunil Gavaskar Livid With Rishabh Pant. Reason For Rant Is…

India vs Australia: Rishabh Pant and Sunil Gavaskar© BCCI/Twitter

Much was expected of Rishabh Pant, with India in dire straits on the third day of the fourth Test, but the India star delivered too little. It was the same careless old way of dismissal, something which made Gavaskar start a rant that has gone viral. The third day’s MCG track is perhaps the best to bat on with green grass making way for a brownish tinge and old a Kookaburra hardly doing anything. Had Pant stuck around, there was no way he wouldn’t have scored big. With Ravindra Jadeja (17 off 51 balls) for company, Pant did start well and got a few boundaries but then the urge to play the falling lap pull over long-leg brought about his dismissal.

When Pant tried it for the first time off Scott Boland, who came round the wicket, he was hit in the naval area and seemed to be in pain. He got up but didn’t realise that Pat Cummins had placed one fielder at deep fine-leg and one at deep third man for both the conventional and reverse lap shot.

Without learning his lessons or caring about success percentage, Pant tried a similar shot but the extra bounce meant that the top edge flew to third man for a regulation catch.

“Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! You’ve got two fielder there and you still go for that. You’ve missed the previous shot and look where you’ve been caught. You’ve caught at deep third man. That is throwing away your wicket. Not in the situation that India was. You have to understand the situation as well. You cannot say that is your natural game. I am sorry that is not your natural game. That is a stupid shot. That is letting your team down badly. He should not be going in that (Indian) dressing room, he should be going into the other dressing room,” Gavaskar said on ABC Sport.

However, a great half-century by Nitish Kumar Reddy and able assistance by Washington Sundar helped India go past the score of 300 against Australia.

Sunil Gavaskar Livid With Rishabh Pant. Reason For Rant Is…

Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has expressed his frustration with current wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, calling him “stupid” and demanding that he improve his game. Gavaskar’s outburst came after Pant’s poor performance in a recent match, where he dropped several catches and missed easy run-scoring opportunities.

Gavaskar, known for his no-nonsense approach to the game, did not mince words in his criticism of Pant. “Stupid, go back to basics and learn how to do your job properly,” he said in a post-match analysis. “Pant needs to realize that he is representing his country and must perform at a higher level.”

Pant, who has been under scrutiny for his inconsistent performances, will need to step up his game if he wants to retain his place in the Indian team. Gavaskar’s harsh words may just be the wake-up call that Pant needs to turn his form around and prove his critics wrong.

  • Aus vs Ind, BGT – Sunil Gavaskar criticises timing of Rishabh Pant’s ‘terrible shot selection’

Aus vs Ind, BGT – Sunil Gavaskar criticises timing of Rishabh Pant’s ‘terrible shot selection’

Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has severely criticised Rishabh Pant‘s shot selection that led to his unusual dismissal on the third morning of the MCG Test between India and Australia. Pant looked fluent on 28 off 37 after he and Ravindra Jadeja resumed India’s reply from the overnight 164 for 5 and had nearly seen through the first hour of play.

That’s when Pant attempted a scoop from outside off to the leg side but handed a straightforward catch to deep third off a leading edge. Pant had tried an identical shot on the previous ball too, in the 56th over off Scot Boland, but had inside-edged it onto himself while losing his balance. He connected only slightly better the next ball, fell again, but holed out to Nathan Lyon. India were 191 for 5 before he fell, still trailing by 283, although India avoided the follow-on later.

“I think earlier on, when there had been no fielders around, that’s when he’s attempted these shots, that is understandable because you’re taking a very good chance,” Gavaskar said on Star Sports during the lunch break. “That (the shot) was supposed to the go to the leg side, that went to the off side, it actually tells you maybe a little bit of bad luck involved but terrible selection of a shot to play at that particular point with two fielders down at deep square leg and deep point.”

Pant scores a lot of his runs through unorthodox and attacking shots which is why it stirred up a debate about whether the attempted scoop was justified or not. Gavaskar pointed out that with two fielders waiting in the deep for his aerial shots, Pant should not have played the shot that led to his downfall.

“It just appears to be that that’s the only way he thinks he’s capable of scoring runs. So if he’s not going to be able to score runs the orthodox way, if he’s only thinking that he’s going to go down the pitch, hammering the ball over long-on, or just looking to play these shots, which means at the Test level you can’t always succeed. Then you got to be prepared for the fact that he will get you some runs sometimes. If that is the case, then he cannot bat at No. 5, he’s got to bat down the order.”

Gavaskar was livid on live commentary on ABC Radio at the time Pant got out and said Pant let India “down badly” by “throwing away” his wicket.

“Stupid, stupid, stupid!” was Gavaskar’s immediate reaction while raising his voice when Pant got out. “you’ve got two fielders there, and you still go for that, you’ve missed the previous shot. And look where you’ve been caught. You’ve been caught at deep third man. That is throwing away your wicket. Not in the situation that India was. You have to understand the situation as well, you cannot say that that’s your natural game. I’m sorry, that is not your natural game. That is a stupid shot. That is letting your team down badly!”

In a recent match between Australia and India in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has criticized the timing of Rishabh Pant’s ‘terrible shot selection’.

During the match, Pant played a rash shot which ultimately led to his dismissal, much to the disappointment of fans and experts alike. Gavaskar, known for his astute analysis of the game, was quick to point out the error in Pant’s decision-making.

Gavaskar expressed his frustration at Pant’s impulsive shot selection, especially considering the crucial stage of the match. He emphasized the importance of playing each delivery on its merit and making smart decisions under pressure.

While Pant is known for his aggressive style of play, Gavaskar stressed the need for him to temper his aggression with more responsibility and maturity. He urged Pant to learn from his mistakes and focus on building partnerships rather than playing reckless shots.

The criticism from Gavaskar highlights the high expectations placed on Pant as a young and talented player. As the series progresses, all eyes will be on Pant to see if he can learn from his errors and make a positive impact on the game.

  • Sunil Gavaskar Warns India Against This Bold ‘Boxing Day’ Change: “Can’t Drop…”

Sunil Gavaskar Warns India Against This Bold ‘Boxing Day’ Change: “Can’t Drop…”

As the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy reaches a critical juncture with the series tied 1-1, Team India faces significant selection dilemmas ahead of the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The aftermath of the third Test at the Gabba, which ended in a hard-fought draw, has triggered a wave of planned and speculative changes, with legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar weighing in on the decisions the Indian team management must make.

The most significant shift came with the sudden retirement of Ravichandran Ashwin, one of India’s greatest all-rounders, immediately after the third Test at Gabba in Brisbane. Ashwin’s absence has left a massive void in the squad, both in terms of his tactical nous and his unmatched skill as a spinner.

Rookie off-spinning all-rounder Tanush Kotian has been named as Ashwin’s replacement, marking a new chapter for India’s spin department.

Among the many speculations regarding the Indian lineup, one of the biggest debates centres around Nitish Kumar Reddy’s place in the XI. While some believe Washington Sundar should replace Reddy to provide India with an additional spinning option, Gavaskar strongly opposes this idea. “They can’t drop Nitish Kumar Reddy. He is the fourth seamer. I can’t see India going in with just two pacers and Nitish. For me, it is pretty much this XI that plays in Melbourne,” Gavaskar told Star Sports.

Reddy, despite being a reliable batter in the lower order, has struggled to make an impact with the ball in the series. However, Gavaskar believes his ability to provide crucial breakthroughs and his contributions with the bat make him indispensable to the team’s balance. The Indian think tank is also contemplating a reshuffle at the top of the batting order, with reports suggesting that Rohit Sharma could return to his preferred role as an opener. Rohit’s inclusion at the top would necessitate reconfiguring the middle order.

If Rohit opens, K.L. Rahul could be slotted in at No. 3, replacing the struggling Shubman Gill. Gill, who has not been at his best in this series, might either slide down to No. 4 or be replaced altogether by Dhurv Jurel.

India’s pace bowling lineup has also been a subject of debate. Akash Deep, whose heroics with the bat helped India avoid the follow-on at the Gabba, is likely to retain his spot. Gavaskar dismissed the idea of replacing him with Harshit Rana, stating, “Unlikely that Harshit will replace Akash Deep. Why would you drop a man who has saved your team from follow-on?”

Sunil Gavaskar Warns India Against This Bold ‘Boxing Day’ Change: “Can’t Drop…”

Legendary Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has issued a warning to the Indian cricket team ahead of the upcoming Boxing Day Test against Australia. Gavaskar has expressed his concern over a potential bold move that could see a key player being dropped from the playing XI.

In a recent interview, Gavaskar emphasized the importance of consistency and team balance in Test cricket, especially during a crucial series like the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He stressed that making drastic changes to the team composition, such as dropping a player who has been performing well, could have a negative impact on the team’s performance.

Gavaskar’s warning comes amidst rumors that the Indian team management is considering making a bold change to the playing XI for the Boxing Day Test. While he did not mention any specific player or change, Gavaskar’s message is clear – stability and continuity are key to success in Test cricket.

As India prepares to take on Australia in the highly-anticipated Boxing Day Test, it remains to be seen whether the team will heed Gavaskar’s advice or take a bold gamble with their team selection. One thing is for sure – all eyes will be on India as they look to maintain their lead in the series and secure a historic victory on Australian soil.

“You can’t drop a player who saved you from follow-on”: Sunil Gavaskar reacts to Team India’s likely changes in the fourth Test against Australia

There are reports that India are likely to replace Akash Deep with Harshit Rana in the fourth Test against Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. However, Sunil Gavaskar has rejected such stories, saying the team management can’t remove a player who saved a follow-on in the third Test. The series is levelled at 1-1, and the remaining two games will decide the winner.

After losing the series opener by 295 runs in Perth, Australia have dominated India in Adelaide and Brisbane. The visitors lost the second contest by 10 wickets while rain saved them from a defeat at the Gabba.

“It is highly unlikely that Harshit will replace Akash Deep. Why would you drop a player who saved you from follow-on in the previous Test?”

Akash took three wickets and scored 31 off 44 balls at No.11, helping India avoid a follow-on.

Gavaskar doesn’t want India to play second spinner in place of Nitish Kumar Reddy.

“They can’t drop Nitish Kumar Reddy. He is the fourth fast bowler. I can’t see India playing just two seamers and Nitish. For me, they will retain the playing XI of the last game,” he added.

Nitish is averaging almost 45 with the bat in three Tests but has picked up just three wickets. Indian spinners have done well at the MCG, and there is a possibility of Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar playing in the contest.

Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has expressed his disbelief at the possibility of Team India dropping a player who saved them from follow-on in the third Test against Australia. In a recent interview, Gavaskar reacted to the news of potential changes in the Indian squad for the fourth Test match.

Gavaskar highlighted the importance of the player who played a crucial role in preventing India from facing the follow-on in the previous Test match. He emphasized that dropping such a player would not only be unjust but also a disservice to the team.

“You can’t drop a player who saved you from follow-on. It’s important to recognize and appreciate the efforts of such players, especially in a crucial Test match like the one we just witnessed,” Gavaskar stated.

The legendary cricketer also urged the Indian team management to carefully consider their decision and not make any hasty changes based on one-off performances. He stressed the need for consistency and stability in the team lineup, especially in crucial matches like the upcoming fourth Test against Australia.

As speculation continues to surround the Indian team’s playing XI for the next Test match, Gavaskar’s comments serve as a reminder of the value of players who step up in challenging situations and play a pivotal role in their team’s success. It remains to be seen whether the Indian management will heed Gavaskar’s advice or opt for a different approach in the upcoming Test match.
