80,255 Niro SUVs recalled for air bag, seat belt issue
Kia is recalling more than 80,000 of its 2023-2025 Niro SUVs over a wiring issue that could prevent the air bags and seat belts from working properly.
The automaker is recalling 80,255 of its 2023-2025 Niro EV, Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV), and Hybrid crossover SUVs because the floor wiring assembly beneath the front passenger seat may become damaged, the company said in a report filed with National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.Wiring damage may prevent the front air bags and seat belts from deploying properly or cause an unintended side curtain air bag deployment, the company said. Air bags and seat belts that deploy improperly or an air bag deploying unintentionally can increase the risk of injury in a crash, NHTSA said.
Kia discovered the potential problem in November 2024 and there have been no injuries related to the issue in vehicles with power seats or a manual front passenger seat, the company told NHTSA.

What to do if you have a recalled car
Kia dealers will inspect, replace and reroute the floor wiring assembly, as necessary, free of charge. In addition, dealers will install wiring covers.
Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed March 14, 2025. Owners may contact Kia customer service at 1-800-333-4542. Kia’s number for this recall is SC332.

DETROIT (FOX 2) – More than 272,000 Ford Bronco Sport SUVs and Maverick pickup trucks are being recalled due to a battery issue that could cause the vehicles to stall.
The backstory:
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), the 2021-2023 Ford Bronco Sports and 2022-2023 Ford Mavericks have batteries that could “experience internal weld and/or caston-strap failures.”
Ford noted that this recall applies to 12V batteries in the affected internal combustion vehicles, not electric vehicles.
If this happens, the battery can suddenly cause degradation of the battery while driving. According to the recall bulletin, if this occurs while driving, the vehicle could while slowing down or fail to restart after auto-stopping, increasing the risk of a crash. This could also cause hazard lights to not work.
The NHTSA said that as of Nov. 20, 2024, Ford was not aware of any crashes connected to this issue.

Drivers who own the impacted vehicles should receive a letter in the mail informing them of the recall.

Ford recalling 20K hybrid SUVs over battery concerns
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said on Tuesday that Ford Motor would recall 20,484 hybrid crossover SUVs over battery concerns.
