The ‘NFL AP All-Pro defensive tackles since 2014’ quiz
Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones may not have stuffed the stat sheet against the Buffalo Bills, but his presence was most certainly felt. The 30-year-old registered just an assisted tackle, but also hit Bills quarterback Josh Allen twice and registered the highest Pro Football Focus grade of the AFC Championship Game. Jones, who recorded five sacks and 37 tackles this season, gave his defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo the credit for Kansas City’s run of defensive excellence.
“As long as they let Spags continue to be our defensive coordinator, we’re going to continue to win,” he said. “For me, he’s one of the best assistant coaches to ever coach the game.”
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Jones has certainly been a beneficiary of Spagnuolo’s defensive schemes, making six Pro Bowls and five All-Pro teams (three first team, two second team) since his arrival in K.C. With that being said, can you name every first and second team All-Pro defensive tackle since 2014?
Good luck!

A stunned Ryan Seacrest handled a tumble to the ground like a pro after an excited contestant on Wheel of Fortune accidentally knocked him down.
During a bonus round of the revered game show, contestant Daniel Thomas cracked a particularly challenging puzzle in the final moments of the 10-second timer, earning an additional $40,000. The overjoyed Thomas then gave Seacrest an enthusiastic hug so forceful that it sent the host tumbling to the ground of the soundstage.
“Oh my gosh! Are you OK?” yelped Thomas at the sight of Seacrest on the floor.

“I’m good! I’m good!” replied Seacrest in between laughs.
Interjected the narrator, “Daniel, easy on our host, but celebrate with $40,000!”
The puzzling clue in question was “living things,” and Thomas was able to guess “guppies” in the final seconds. That brought his total to $71,950, which is certainly something to celebrate. Elsewhere in the clip, Seacrest jokingly backed away from Thomas after the latter asked, “Did I make you fall?”
“How did you do that in the last second?” Seacrest later inquired.

“Push you over or solve the puzzle?” quipped Thomas. “I don’t know! I was looking up at the used letter board and I saw ‘P’ and it just popped into my head.” He added of the tackle, “I’m so sorry!”
The bonus round was shared on the show’s official YouTube channel, and Seacrest introduced the segment alongside Vanna White with the following sentiment: “Throw me over, tackle me — I’m totally fine with it.”
There’s never a dull moment on the show. Just a few weeks ago former contestant Rhea Mathew returned to the stage under the ruse of helping celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary, only to be surprised by her boyfriend with a proposal. It was elaborately staged with a puzzle phrase of “Will you marry me?” which Mathew correctly guessed before her now-fiancé appeared on stage to pop the question.

Ryan Seacrest ‘Wheel of Fortune’ fall: Eager contestant tackles host
Hosting “Wheel of Fortune” isn’t all prize money and one-liners.
Ryan Seacrest learned that lesson the hard way Tuesday when an overeager guest accidentally tackled him to the ground.
When contestant Daniel Thomas cracked a particularly challenging puzzle, he was so overjoyed that his embrace of Seacrest knocked the host off his feet.
Known for being the more raucous relative in network television’s game-show lineup, “Wheel” often features loud contestants yelling and jumping in a brightly colored wake-up after the more demure and intellectual “Jeopardy!”

Thomas embodied that spirit Tuesday when he traveled over to the mini-wheel to compete in the notoriously difficult bonus round.
Given the “Living Things” clue with seven blank letter spots staring back at him, Thomas’ only additional hint was and E and S at the end of the word, filled in by co-host Vanna White.
Thomas, then adding letters himself, successfully guessed “G” for a consonant and then had a mere 10 seconds to shout the word.
To his surprise, just before the clock ran out, his guess of “guppies” hit the mark prompting an embrace with Seacrest so powerful he fell over backward.
“I’m good. I’m good,” Seacrest said, helping himself back up to reveal a golden card with a $40,000 prize for Thomas. His total cash winnings ticked up to $71,950.
Seacrest jokingly shied away from Thomas, feigning fear as the celebrations continued. “Are you OK? I’m so sorry,” Thomas said.
“How did you do that in the last second?” Seacrest asked to which Thomas quipped, “Push you over or solve the puzzle?”

The tumble was clearly all in good fun for Seacrest, who is hitting his stride now five months into his tenure as host of the show. He stepped up to the plate late last year after longtime host Pat Sajak announced he would retire.
Sajak served as host of the show alongside letter-master White for 40 years. Sajak himself was once a replacement host, taking over for Chuck Woolery who steered the program from 1975 to 1981.
“I know how special it is that ‘Wheel’ has been in your living rooms for the past 40 years, and I’m just so grateful to be invited in. I also know I’ve got some very big shoes to fill,” Seacrest told audiences the night of his first show.
In a hilarious turn of events on ‘Wheel of Fortune’, host Ryan Seacrest found himself in an unexpected situation when an eager contestant tackled him during a taping of the popular game show. The incident occurred as Seacrest was walking over to congratulate the contestant on solving a puzzle. In their excitement, the contestant lunged towards Seacrest, causing both of them to tumble to the ground.
Thankfully, no one was hurt in the fall, and Seacrest took it all in stride, laughing off the unexpected mishap. The contestant, embarrassed but also laughing, quickly apologized and helped Seacrest back to his feet.
The moment was captured on camera and quickly went viral, with fans of the show sharing their amusement at the unexpected turn of events.
Despite the unexpected fall, Seacrest continued on with the show, proving once again why he is a seasoned professional in the entertainment industry.
Overall, it was a lighthearted moment that added some fun and excitement to the game show, and will surely be remembered as one of the most memorable moments in ‘Wheel of Fortune’ history.

Rick Astley memoir tackles Rickrolling, Dave Grohl
Rick Astley is as surprised as anyone that his career is still rolling.
The humble British singer-songwriter linked together forever with his No. 1 decade-defying pop-culture-ingrained hit from 1987, “Never Gonna Give You Up,” has experienced the glory of fan-swarming fame, the inevitable resulting exhaustion, the retreat into civilian family life and an unlikely comeback that renders him much more than a footnote of pop music.
In his autobiography “Never” (out Tuesday, Pan Macmillan, 292 pages, $30), Astley, who turns 59 on Feb. 6, is an even-keeled voice. From his challenging upbringing with his father and siblings living in a Portakabin in Newton-le-Willows, Lancashire, to becoming a jewel in the crown of Stock Aitken Waterman, the hit factory/British production team behind a parade of ‘80s songs, Astley’s story embodies the tenet of head down, plow forward.
He’s also a humorous fellow, more with the dry shrug of a dad at the park with his kid than an acerbic flame thrower. But above all, Astley, who grew up playing drums in local bands and working at his father’s gardening store, never discounts the roles of luck and chance in his still-viable career.
“It’s almost as if there are two Rick Astleys,” he writes in the introduction. “The professional Rick Astley and the private Rick Astley, but they’re both incredibly happy … (the professional one) got a second chance of fame on his own terms, which means it’s completely different from his first burst of fame … And the private Rick Astley has, by anyone’s standards, a fantastic life.”

Here are a few other takeaways from “Never.”

Rick Astley’s brother once threatened to kill their father
Astley shares early in the book that life in his family household was “rarely normal.” His father, Horace, was equipped with a simmering temper and one day when Astley was 17, he found himself on the ground after his father pushed him and started kicking.
When he looked up, his older brother Mike was standing there holding a knife and looking like “someone who’d finally had enough.”
Mike walked up to Horace, held the knife to his throat and “calmly but very clearly” said, “I will kill you stone dead if you move an inch.”
Astley was stunned – Mike wasn’t the knife-wielding type – and after a few moments of silence, Horace told his sons to leave.
The boys walked to their grandmother’s, Mike not even putting on shoes, and told their mother (who had split from their father) what had occurred.
To Astley’s dismay, “she didn’t seem as shocked or horrified as you might expect.”
Rick Astley is as surprised by Rickrolling as everyone else
After essentially retiring at the age of 27 following a string of hits in the U.K. and U.S. including “Together Forever,” “It Would Take a Strong Strong Man” and “Cry for Help,” Astley, whose soulful voice always belied his choirboy visage, got married, had a daughter and enjoyed the money generated by his success.
But in 2007, while vacationing in Italy, Astley received an email from a friend with a seemingly random link, but after clicking on it was greeted with his video for “Never Gonna Give You Up.”
Confused, Astley called his friend who laughed that he “Rickrolled Rick Astley!” and explained to the singer about the viral prank circulating online where you trick someone into watching Astley’s music video.
“I guess I could have been hugely offended by it,” Astley recalls in the book, “but I didn’t think it was really mean-spirited.”
He shrugged it off as an internet joke and took some satisfaction in younger generations hearing the song.
But then came the tens of millions of YouTube figures for the video, the sudden appearances during American sporting events and even a Twitter reference from the Obama-helmed White House and an unintended resurgence unfolded.
“I don’t know how my career would have turned out without Rickrolling, but it would be stupid to say it hasn’t ultimately done me a lot of good,” Astley writes.

Rick Astley has a friend in Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters
The Rickrolling phenomenon renewed Astley’s interest in music and in 2016, he released “50,” his first album in more than a decade that hit No. 1 and went platinum in the U.K.
This somewhat accidental resurgence and visibility also caught the ears of the Foo Fighters. The band first used “Never Gonna Give You Up” in a trolling maneuver in front of the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas, known for its anti-gay beliefs.
But then Astley found himself playing the same festival in Japan as the band, which he heard was listening to his music in their dressing room. The Foo Fighters were headlining the Summer Sonic Festival and invited any of the other acts to watch their set from the side of the stage.
Astley and his wife joined a group of onlookers and in the middle of a song, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl walked over and introduced himself to Astley. A few moments later, a roadie came up to Astley with a microphone and nudged him on stage, where he joined the band in a version of “Never Gonna Give You Up” done in the style of Grohl’s former band Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit.”
A friendship was born, with Grohl inviting Astley to sing with the Foo Fighters again at the California Jam rock festival and Grohl praising Astley with a few affectionate expletives.
Astley continues to tour and in 2023, released his ninth studio album, “Are We There Yet?,” which peaked at No. 1 on the U.K. Albums Chart.

Does Notre Dame still have some gas in the tank?
The Irish are down but still fighting and now trail 31-15 following a great effort from Notre Dame wide receiver Jaden Greathouse. His first catch of the evening, Greathouse hauled in a slant pass from QB Riley Leonard and immediately shook off his defender. He broke another tackle during his 25-yard trek to the end zone.
Here’s a look at Notre Dame’s best offensive play of the game so far:
As you can see, Notre Dame went for 2 and converted, meaning this is now a 2-score game. The Irish would need a pair of stops and a pair of touchdowns with a pair of 2-point conversions to tie this one up.
But now comes the hard part: Slowing Will Howard, Quinshon Judkins and the Ohio State offense. Howard and Co. have spread the love around, making it extremely difficult for Notre Dame to get into any sort of rhythm. Not to mention, Notre Dame’s usually stout linebacker corps has played its worst game of the season thus far.
Things will have to change and change quickly if Notre Dame is to truly have a shot at a comeback. When play resumes it will be Ohio State ball with 3:30 remaining in the 3rd quarter.
Ethan Stone is a Tennessee graduate and loves all things college football and college basketball. Firm believer in fouling while up 3.
In a breathtaking display of athleticism, Jaden Greathouse broke multiple tackles and scurried his way into the end zone for a 34-yard touchdown! The crowd erupted in cheers as Greathouse showcased his speed and elusiveness, leaving defenders grasping at air. This incredible run will surely go down as one of the most memorable plays of the season.
