Browns GM says Myles Garrett won’t be traded no matter what the team is offered
Getty Images
Myles Garrett isn’t going anywhere any time soon. Cleveland Browns general manager Andrew Berry told reporters at the Senior Bowl that he will not trade Garrett no matter what the team is offered.
Berry was also asked directly if the Browns would turn down an offer of two first-round picks.
“Correct,” he said, via Cleveland.com. “You can put that on the record.”
Earlier this offseason, Garrett briefly mused about a potential trade that would have him continuing his career elsewhere. A few weeks later, he was singing a different tune. “We’re closer than some may think we are,” he said earlier this month.
With that quote seemingly in mind, Berry said he was open to discussing an extension with Garrett.
“I don’t want to go into contract discussions. I wouldn’t do that publicly,” Berry said. “But I think you can assume that we do anticipate at some point doing a third contract with Myles. We want him to retire here.”
Browns turnaround incoming? Myles Garrett believes ‘we’re closer than some may think we are’ to being winners

Cleveland is currently more than $30 million over the salary cap for 2025 and needs to start making some cap-clearing moves. Garrett’s base salaries have already been converted into signing bonuses, though, and he also has five void years tacked onto the end of his deal to spread out his cap hits and keep the number down. Still, an extension — or just an entirely new contract — could provide some additional flexibility down the line.
What Berry wants, though, is for Garrett to stick around for as long as possible.
“We feel really good about Myles obviously as a big piece of our future. We’re looking forward to him being on the field,” he said. “Like I said in my (early January) press conference, we envision him going from Cleveland to Canton when his career is over.”
Cleveland Browns General Manager Andrew Berry has made it clear that star defensive end Myles Garrett is not going anywhere, no matter what offers come their way. Despite rumors swirling around potential trade scenarios, Berry has shut down any possibility of parting ways with the defensive standout. In a recent statement, Berry emphasized the importance of Garrett to the team’s success, stating, “Myles is a cornerstone of our defense and a key leader in our locker room. He is not only an incredibly talented player, but also a valuable asset to our organization both on and off the field.”
Garrett, who was the number one overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, has been a force to be reckoned with since entering the league. His combination of size, speed, and athleticism has made him one of the most dominant defensive players in the NFL, earning him multiple Pro Bowl selections and All-Pro honors.
With Garrett anchoring the Browns’ defense, the team has seen significant improvement in recent years, making a strong push for the playoffs. Berry’s commitment to keeping Garrett in Cleveland demonstrates the team’s dedication to building a championship-caliber roster around their star player.
So, despite any enticing offers that may come their way, it seems that Myles Garrett will remain a Brown for the foreseeable future. Fans can rest assured that their defensive stalwart will continue to wreak havoc on opposing offenses for years to come.

Nebraska coach Matt Rhule ‘highly doubts’ team will have spring game because of the transfer portal
Nebraska’s spring game tradition could be going away. And according to coach Matt Rhule, it’s because of the transfer portal.
Rhule said Saturday that he doubted that Nebraska would have a spring scrimmage on April 26 and was blunt in explaining why he didn’t want to showcase his players.
“I don’t know that yet but I’ll be honest with you, I highly doubt it,” Rhule said when asked if Nebraska would have a spring scrimmage on that date. “And I think it’s really fundamentally, I hate to say it like this, it’s really because last year we were one of the more televised spring games and I dealt with a lot of people offering our players a lot of opportunities after that. So to go out and bring in a bunch of new players and showcase them for all the other schools to watch, that doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. The word ‘tampering’ doesn’t exist anymore. It’s just absolute free open common market and so I don’t necessarily want to open up to the outside world. I don’t want these guys all able to watch our guys and say, ‘Wow he looks like a pretty good player, let’s go get him.’”
Nebraska likely won’t have a traditional spring game in 2025. (Photo by Matthew Holst/Getty Images) Nebraska’s spring game has been a decades-long tradition and is one of the biggest spring games in college football. Huskers fans routinely pack Memorial Stadium for the game and it produced one of the best spring game moments in recent memory when a then-7-year-old Jack Hoffman scored a touchdown during the game.
Nebraska athletic director Troy Dannen said earlier in the week that April 26 would likely feature a “celebration” of the school’s athletes instead of a traditional game.
You can understand why Nebraska is moving away from a spring game in the current era of college sports. Rhule is far from the only college coach who doesn’t want other coaching staffs to see his players right before the spring transfer portal opens.
Don’t be surprised if Nebraska’s move becomes a trend. While coaches are pushing to change transfer window dates, more teams could follow Nebraska and others and change the way they end spring practices as long as there’s a spring transfer window.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers may not have a spring game this year, according to head coach Matt Rhule. In a recent interview, Rhule expressed doubt that the team would be able to hold their annual spring game due to the increasing prevalence of the transfer portal in college football. The transfer portal allows players to explore their options and potentially transfer to a different school without having to sit out a year. This has led to a significant amount of roster turnover for many teams, making it difficult to field a full team for a spring game.
Rhule acknowledged the challenges that the transfer portal presents for college football programs, and indicated that the team may have to adjust their plans for the spring accordingly. While it’s disappointing for fans to potentially miss out on the opportunity to see their team in action during the spring game, Rhule emphasized that the team’s focus is on preparing for the upcoming season and making sure they have a competitive roster.
It remains to be seen whether the Cornhuskers will ultimately be able to hold a spring game this year, but fans can rest assured that the team is working hard to be ready for the challenges that lie ahead.

Preview: Roma vs. Napoli – prediction, team news, lineups
Sports Mole previews Sunday’s Serie A clash between Roma and Napoli, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Roma‘s revival will be put to the test on Sunday evening, when Serie A leaders Napoli pay a visit to Stadio Olimpico for the Derby del Sole.
After inching up to ninth in Italy’s top flight, the Giallorossi secured progress in the Europa League, while their southern rivals stayed clear of the chasing pack with last week’s win over Juventus.

Thursday’s 2-0 home victory over an Eintracht Frankfurt side flying high in the Bundesliga served as more evidence that Roma have turned a corner under the steadying influence of Claudio Ranieri.
The Rome-born boss has helped his boyhood club recover from a slow start in the Europa League to finish 15th in the league phase and set up a playoff to reach the last 16 for a third straight season.
The Giallorossi are also unbeaten in six Serie A matches, after losing seven of the previous nine; following recent victories against Genoa and Udinese, they will now aim to post three consecutive league wins for the first time since March.
Last week’s win in Udine – a first away success of the season, secured by second-half spot kicks from top scorer Artem Dovbyk and captain Lorenzo Pellegrini – saw Ranieri become the 15th coach in Italian top-flight history to reach 200 wins.
The ex-Napoli manager now heads into a pair of tough fixtures, first facing his former club in Serie A, then visiting AC Milan in the Coppa Italia quarter-finals.
Recent history will not be on his side this weekend: Roma have won just two of their last eight home games against Sunday’s visitors, failing to find the net in three of the last four.
© Imago
Indeed, Napoli have been beaten just once in the clubs’ last 10 meetings, with their sole defeat during that time being sealed by a goal from then-Roma striker Romelu Lukaku.
The well-travelled forward now plies his trade in Naples, and his penalty completed the Partenopei’s comeback at home to Juventus last week, after in-form midfielder Frank Anguissa had got them back on level terms.
A winner of multiple Scudetti as player and coach, Napoli boss Antonio Conte has clearly instilled resilience in a squad that put up such a tame defence of their title last term – despite losing two star players.
Conte’s table-toppers have not only won the most games after going in front – 17 out of 18 so far – but they have also won the joint-most after trailing (four), leaving them just ahead of reigning champions Inter Milan in the standings.
Having now won their last seven Serie A matches, another victory in the Derby del Sole – ‘the Derby of the Sun’ – would see Napoli put together a run of eight for the first time since early 2023.
Then, they were en route to a third league title, and number four will come one step closer if they can prevail at Stadio Olimpico.

Having been forced to field his strongest team in midweek, aiming to avert an early exit from the Europa League, Claudio Ranieri may ask the same men to go again on Sunday evening.
Enjoying a rare injury-free period, Roma have just lost Spanish centre-back Mario Hermoso to Bayer Leverkusen – but he had become a back-up player under Ranieri.
Starting up front, Artem Dovbyk has scored in his last three league games; the Ukrainian striker has also been directly involved in more goals than anyone else over the past six Serie A matchdays – four of his own and two assists.
Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku will lead Napoli’s attack against his old club, having netted the winner in November’s reverse fixture. Last week, the Belgium international made his 150th Serie A appearance, 32 of which were with Roma last season.
Left-back Mathias Olivera is the visitors’ sole absentee, as defensive rock Alessandro Buongiorno has resumed full training and could be named on the bench.
Ex-Roma duo Leonardo Spinazzola and Juan Jesus will fill in again, with the former deputising for Olivera and the latter holding the fort for Buongiorno.
Roma possible starting lineup:
Svilar; Mancini, Hummels, Ndicka; Saelemaekers, Kone, Paredes, Angelino; Dybala, Pellegrini; DovbykNapoli possible starting lineup:
Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Jesus, Spinazzola; Anguissa, Lobotka, McTominay; Politano, Lukaku, Neres
We say: Roma 1-1 Napoli
Roma are far tougher to beat at home than away, so they could stall Napoli’s winning run and keep their own momentum building.
Shutting out Antonio Conte’s side entirely may be too much to ask, but Claudio Ranieri’s men have sufficient firepower to score at least once.

Preview: Real Betis vs. Athletic Bilbao – prediction, team news, lineups
Sports Mole previews Sunday’s La Liga clash between Real Betis and Athletic Bilbao, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Athletic Bilbao will be aiming to stretch their unbeaten run in La Liga to 13 matches when they head to Real Betis on Sunday night.
The Lions have been one of the standout teams in Spain’s top flight this season, picking up 40 points from 21 matches to sit fourth in the La Liga table, while Real Betis are 10th, only two points behind sixth-placed Mallorca in the battle for Europe.

Real Betis boast a record of seven wins, seven draws and seven defeats from their 21 La Liga matches this season, with a total of 28 points leaving them in 10th spot in the table, only two points behind sixth-placed Mallorca.
The Green and Whites will enter this clash off the back of a 1-0 victory over Mallorca, with Cedric Bakambu coming up with a last-gasp winner for Manuel Pellegrini‘s side, who brought a three-game losing run into that contest.
Real Betis have advanced in the Conference League, with Gent their opponents in the next round over two legs next month, and they have two more league games against Athletic and Celta Vigo before the first leg in Belgium on February 12.
Pellegrini’s team have been solid in front of their own supporters this season, picking up 16 points from 10 matches, but Athletic have been impressive on their travels, collecting 18 points from their 10 league fixtures away from home.
Real Betis picked up a point in a 1-1 draw with Athletic earlier this season, while they were 3-1 winners over the Lions when the two teams locked horns for the corresponding fixture in August 2023.

Athletic are outside contenders for the La Liga title at this stage of proceedings, with a total of 40 points from 21 matches leaving them in fourth spot in the table, nine points behind the leaders Real Madrid.
Ernesto Valverde‘s side are only two points behind third-placed Barcelona, while they sit six clear of Villarreal in fifth, with Athletic winning 11, drawing seven and losing three of their 21 league games this term.
The Lions are on a 12-game unbeaten run in the league, with their last defeat coming against Girona at the start of October, but they were held to a goalless draw by Leganes on Sunday.
Athletic were back to winning ways in the Europa League on Thursday night, though, recording a 3-1 victory over Viktoria Plzen, with the result seeing them claim second in the overall table, level on 19 points with Lazio.
Valverde’s team are among the favourites to win the European competition this season, while they are in an excellent spot when it comes to claiming a top-four finish in La Liga, so it could be a famous campaign for the Basque club.

Real Betis will welcome Romain Perraud back into their squad this weekend following a suspension, but Ezequiel Avila, Hector Bellerin and William Carvalho remain on the sidelines through injury.
The hosts also have a number of other fitness doubts, with Iker Losada, Ricardo Rodriguez, Marc Bartra, Aitor Ruibal, Giovani Lo Celso and Youssouf Sabaly all needing to be assessed before final decisions can be made.
Perraud is likely to come back into the XI, but it could otherwise be the same side that started against Mallorca, with Pellegrini unlikely to have many options for change due to the long list of absentees.
As for Athletic, Inigo Ruiz de Galarreta is a doubt due to an injury problem, while Alex Berenguer will need to be assessed due to the problem which forced him off the field in the Europa League.
Unai Simon will be back between the sticks, while Adama Boiro, Andoni Gorosabel and Mikel Vesga are likely to earn recalls on Sunday.
Should Berenguer be unavailable, then it is likely that Oihan Sancet will come into the starting side for the visitors, while there will once again be starts for Nico Williams and Inaki Williams.
Real Betis possible starting lineup:
Adrian; Ortiz, Llorente, Natan, Perraud; Cardoso, Roca; J Rodriguez, Isco, Ezzalzouli; RoqueAthletic Bilbao possible starting lineup:
Simon; Gorosabel, Vivian, Yeray, Boiro; Vesga, Jauregizar; I Williams, Sancet, N Williams; Guruzeta
We say: Real Betis 1-2 Athletic Bilbao
This is a really tricky match to call, especially as Real Betis will be the fresher of the two sides – the hosts are set to be without a number of key players on Sunday, though, and we can see a talented Athletic outfit navigating their way to all three points.

Sports Mole previews Sunday’s La Liga clash between Osasuna and Real Sociedad, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Real Sociedad will be bidding to bounce back from successive defeats in La Liga when they continue their domestic campaign with a contest against Osasuna at El Sadar on Sunday evening.
The away side’s recent struggles in Spain’s top flight have seen them drop into ninth position in the La Liga table, while Osasuna are 11th, just one point behind their opponents in this weekend’s contest in Pamplona.
Match preview
© Imago
Osasuna’s winless run in La Liga stretched to nine matches on January 24, when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Las Palmas, and it proved to be the sixth time in their last eight league games that the points had been shared.
Vicente Moreno‘s side have not been victorious in Spain’s top flight since the start of November, but a relatively solid campaign to date has left them in 11th spot in the table, boasting 27 points from their 21 matches.
Osasuna are only one point behind ninth-placed Real Sociedad and just three from Mallorca in sixth, with a fascinating battle developing for the European spots, and a lot could change in the table in a short space of time.
Los Rojillos have been impressive on home soil this season, picking up 19 points from 11 matches, which is actually the fifth-best home record in the division, while Real Sociedad have 14 points from their 10 games on their travels.
Osasuna have won their last two league games against Real Sociedad, including a 2-0 success in the reverse match earlier this season, but it was 1-1 when the two sides locked horns for the corresponding fixture last term.
© Imago
Real Sociedad will enter this match off the back of a 2-0 win over PAOK in the Europa League, with the result seeing them finish 13th in the overall table, so they will need to win a playoff to be present in the next round.
Imanol Alguacil‘s side are also in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey, with Osasuna their opponents next week, so this is the first of two quick-fire matches between the two sides.
Real Sociedad’s league form is worrying, though, only managing to win one of their last five matches in Spain’s top flight, while they have been beaten in three of their last four, including their last two against Valencia and Getafe.
La Real have won eight, drawn four and lost nine of their 21 league matches this season to collect 28 points, which has left them in ninth spot, but a top-six finish is still very much achievable this term.
Goals have been an issue for Real Sociedad this term, only finding the back of the net on 17 occasions, which is the joint-second worst attacking record in the division behind basement team Real Valladolid (14).

Osasuna will have to make a check on Moi Gomez, who has been struggling with an illness, while Bryan Zaragoza remains unavailable for selection due to a foot injury.
The home side are otherwise in strong shape, and there are not expected to be any real surprises when it comes to their XI for this match, with Ante Budimir set to continue in the final third of the field.
Kike Barja and Ruben Garcia are likely to operate in the wide positions for Osasuna, while Aimar Oroz is expected to keep his spot in midfield, having scored from that position against Las Palmas last time out.
As for Real Sociedad, Hamari Traore remains a long-term absentee due to a serious knee injury, but the visitors are otherwise in strong shape, with no fresh issues being reported following their Europa League clash with PAOK.
Orri Oskarsson scored twice in the European fixture last time out, and he is now expected to retain his spot through the middle, but there should be a return to the XI for Mikel Oyarzabal.
Alex Remiro will be back between the sticks for the Basque outfit, while there are also set to be recalls for Jon Aramburu and Igor Zubeldia for the league fixture with Osasuna.
Osasuna possible starting lineup:
Herrera; Areso, Boyomo, Catena, Cruz; Ruben Garcia, Moncayola, Munoz, Oroz, Barja; BudimirReal Sociedad possible starting lineup:
Remiro; Aramburu, Zubeldia, Aguerd, Gomez; Kubo, Zubimendi, Marin, Barrenetxea; Oyarzabal, Oskarsson
We say: Osasuna 1-1 Real Sociedad
Real Sociedad are a difficult team to back at the moment, and they will be coming up against draw specialists Osasuna on Sunday; it would not be a shock to see a home or indeed an away success here, but we are expecting the points to be shared in a low-scoring stalemate.

I predict that this match will end in a draw, with both teams scoring at least one goal each.

Sports Mole previews Sunday’s La Liga clash between Valencia and Celta Vigo, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Valencia will be aiming to bounce back from a heavy defeat to Barcelona when they continue their La Liga campaign with a clash against Celta Vigo at Mestalla on Sunday afternoon.
Los Che are 19th in the La Liga table, boasting only 16 points their opening 21 matches of the campaign, while Celta sit 13th, and the visitors will bring a four-game winless run into this weekend’s contest.
Match preview

Valencia were stunned by Barcelona last weekend, conceding five times in the first half to the Catalan giants, and it eventually finished 7-1, as Los Che suffered a defeat which will have been incredibly damaging to their morale at a vital stage of the season.
Carlos Corberan‘s side are 19th in the table, boasting just 16 points from their 21 league matches this season, and they are five points behind 17th-placed Alaves ahead of the next set of fixtures in Spain’s top flight.
There is more than enough talent in the Valencia squad to move out of trouble in the coming weeks, though, and there had been signs of real progress before the heavy loss to Hansi Flick‘s side.
Los Che have picked up 12 points from their 10 home league matches this season, and they will be welcoming a Celta outfit that have only managed to triumph in one of their 10 La Liga games on their travels during the 2024-25 campaign.
Valencia are currently on a three-game winless run against Celta, including a 0-0 draw in the corresponding match last season, while Celta recorded a 3-1 victory when the pair locked horns for the reverse fixture back in August 2024.
© Imago
Celta opened 2025 with a 3-2 win over Racing de Santander in the Copa del Rey, but they have since exited the competition to Real Madrid, while their league form since the turn of the year has been disappointing.
Indeed, Claudio Giraldez‘s side have only picked up one point from their three league fixtures in 2025, losing to Rayo Vallecano and Athletic Bilbao before drawing 1-1 with Alaves last time out.
The Sky Blues have won seven, drawn four and lost 10 of their 21 league matches this season to collect 25 points, which has left them in 13th spot in the table, five points above the relegation zone.
Celta are only three points off eighth-placed Girona and just five from Mallorca in sixth, meanwhile, so a charge for Europe would become a possibility if they were able to find a degree of consistency.
The Sky Blues actually lost five straight league games against Valencia between February 2021 and May 2023, but they have had the better of the recent match-ups and will be aiming to make it a La Liga double over Valencia this term.

Valencia will welcome Cristhian Mosquera back into their squad for this match, with the Spaniard serving a suspension against Barcelona, but Thierry Correia, Rafa Mir and Enzo Barrenechea could all again miss out.
Los Che will also need to make a check on the fitness of leading goalscorer Hugo Duro, who has a slight hamstring issue, but the club are hopeful that the striker will be cleared to feature this weekend.
Head coach Corberan will resist the temptation to shuffle his pack, but Mosquera will return at the back, while there could also be a start down the right for Fran Perez.
As for Celta, Marcos Alonso, Hugo Alvarez and Oscar Mingueza will all miss the match through suspension, while Alfon Gonzalez and Iago Aspas will be absent due to injury problems.
Javi Rodriguez is expected to be introduced into the back three due to the absence of Alonso, but it might otherwise be the same side that took to the field for the first whistle against Alaves last time out.
Pablo Duran is set to continue down the left for the Sky Blues, while it will be Borja Iglesias, who has scored five times in Spain’s top flight during the 2024-25 campaign, through the middle.
Valencia possible starting lineup:
Mamardashvili; Foulqiuier, Tarrega, Mosquera, Gaya; F Perez, Pepelu, Guerra, Rioja; Duro, AlmeidaCelta Vigo possible starting lineup:
Guaita; Lago, Starfelt, J Rodriguez; Carreira, Beltran, Moriba, Ristic; Cervi, Iglesias, Duran
We say: Valencia 2-1 Celta Vigo
This is a really important match for Valencia, as there has to be a response from the defeat at Barcelona, and we are expecting Los Che to record a narrow victory against a Celta outfit that will be missing a number of important players.

Two landmark signings in the final days of January, Naomi Girma and Keira Walsh have demanded most of our attention.
But Chelsea do have a game this weekend and it’s one that we should be winning just as impressively as we have won this transfer window, keeping our now 20-match unbeaten run going under Sonia Bompastor.

Aston Villa team news: It’s been an underwhelming season for Villa after finishing seventh in the Women’s Super League last season, which itself was underwhelming compared to their fifth-place finish the season prior. They currently sit ninth in the table, with just two wins and ten points from their first twelve games.
Unsurprisingly, manager Robert de Pauw got his marching orders less than six months into the job, with former Real Sociedad Femenino head coach Natalia Arroyo now appointed after a month of interim management under Shaun Goater. Goater lost just one of his five matches in charge and nearly doubled Villa’s points total in just three league games, so the tide may be turning for them a bit.
For her first match in charge, Arroyo won’t be able to count on defender Rachel Corsie and midfielders Lucy Staniforth and Missy Bo Kearns due to injuries. Veteran striker Rachel Daly remains a dangerous goalscorer for them, with 9 in all competitions thus far.

Chelsea team news: Despite the unbeaten run, it hasn’t always been pretty or easy for the Blues, with last weekend’s 1-0 win over Arsenal a prime example of gritting out a most important victory. But that’s what champions do!
The additions of Girma and Walsh should help alleviate those concerns and elevate our play to truly world class levels — both domestically and in Europe. Unfortunately, neither will be available for this one just yet: Girma’s dealing with a minor calf knock and Walsh could not be registered in time (the transfer itself barely beat FIFA deadlines).
Other absences include Kadeisha Buchanan, Sophie Ingle, Mia Fishel and Sam Kerr due to long-term injuries. Meanwhile Mayra Ramírez and Sandy Baltimore are doubtful with fitness problems that will be assessed prior to kick-off at Villa Park.
