    What is the team news?

Radu Dragusin is our latest injury concern after being forced off with a knee issue in Thursday’s Europa League win over Elfsborg and he’s therefore unlikely to feature against Brentford.

He joins Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, Cristian Romero, James Maddison, Wilson Odobert, Timo Werner, Brennan Johnson and Dominic Solanke in the treatment room.

Antonin Kinsky and Sergio Reguilon are available again after being ineligible for the Elfsborg match while Djed Spence is back in the frame after recovering from a knock. He, too, was ineligible on Thursday night.

Brentford have defender Ethan Pinnock back following a hamstring injury while midfielder Christian Nørgaard and forward Kevin Schade – both withdrawn in Brentford’s win at Crystal Palace last weekend – are also available.

Rico Henry (hamstring), Josh Dasilva (knee), Igor Thiago (joint infection), Gustavo Nunes (back) and Aaron Hickey (hamstring) are sidelined for the hosts.

    Who is the referee?

Jarred Gillett will take charge of Sunday’s game, assisted by Darren Cann and Mark Scholes.

The fourth official will be John Busby.

VAR duties will be handled by Graham Scott and assistant Ian Hussin.

  • Brentford have won just one of their seven Premier League meetings with Tottenham (D3 L3), with all three at the Gtech Community Stadium ending in a draw.

  • Tottenham are looking to complete the league double over Brentford for the first time, following their 3-1 win against them at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September.

  • The team scoring first has won none of the last five Premier League meetings between Brentford and Tottenham, with Spurs coming back to win twice, Brentford once, and two draws.

  • Brentford are the Premier League’s leading scorers on home soil this season (29) but are winless in their last four at the Gtech Community Stadium (D1 L3). The Bees have gone 13 without a clean sheet at home, last having a longer run in the league between November 2003 and April 2004 (14).

  • Brentford and Tottenham are two of three teams, along with Wolves, whose games have seen 80+ goals in the Premier League this season (83 for Spurs, 82 for Brentford). The Bees have faced the most shots (429) while only four teams have had more shots than Spurs (333).

  • Tottenham have lost six of their last seven Premier League matches (D1), with no side picking up fewer points since the start of this run on 22 December (1). Spurs haven’t lost five games in a row since a run of six in October/November 2004, which came under Jacques Santini and Martin Jol losing three each. The last Spurs manager to lose five on the bounce was Osvaldo Ardilles in 1994 (seven consecutively).

  • Tottenham Hotspur have taken more goal kicks that end in their own penalty area than any other side in the Premier League this season (137), with only one of their 169 goal kicks ending in the attacking third of the pitch; Spurs have the highest goal kick success percentage in 2024-25 (96.4%).

  • There has been average of 3.57 goals per game in Ange Postecoglou’s 61 Premier League games as Spurs boss, the highest ratio of any manager with 50+ games managed (120 for, 98 against). The fewest numbers of games for a manager to both score and concede 100+ goals is 65 by Roberto De Zerbi, with Postecoglou only two goals away from conceding 100 with Spurs.

  • Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo has been involved in 17 Premier League goals this season (14 goals, 3 assists), with only four players involved in more. The only Bees player with more goals and assists in a Premier League campaign was Ivan Toney in 2022-23 (20 goals, 4 assists).

  • No player has created more chances in open play in the Premier League this season than Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski (51). His average of 2.5 open play chances created per 90 minutes in 2024-25 is bettered by only two Spurs players in a season on record (min. 900 minutes played): Christian Eriksen in 2015-16 (2.6 per 90) and Aaron Lennon in 2010-11 (2.51 per 90).

  • Preview: Juventus vs. Empoli – prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday’s Serie A clash between Juventus and Empoli, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

After back-to-back defeats, Juventus will seek an end to their three-game winless streak on Sunday, when they welcome Serie A strugglers Empoli to Turin.

The Bianconeri recently followed their first league loss of the season with another setback in Europe, while their ailing visitors have slumped to the foot of the form table.

    Match preview

With playoff places on the line, two former European Cup winners met on Wednesday, as Juventus hosted Benfica in the Champions League’s chaotic league-phase finale.

Juve had already confirmed a place in the knockout rounds, and they were just one point shy of the top eight; however, a chastening 2-0 defeat saw them slip down to 20th in the final standings.

After winning their first two fixtures, the Bianconeri managed just a single success from the next six, so a potentially hazardous route through the next phase now awaits.

On the domestic scene, Thiago Motta‘s men have won only eight of their 22 league matches this season, following last week’s 2-1 loss to league leaders Napoli, now coached by Juve legend Antonio Conte.

Despite a debut goal from new signing Randal Kolo Muani – who had completed his loan move from Paris Saint-Germain just a few days earlier – they suffered a defeat that left them fifth in the table.

Motta’s side have now let some 17 points slip through their fingers, leaving the ex-Bologna boss with the third-lowest win percentage of any permanent manager in Juve’s club history.

Indeed, the last time Juventus recorded so few victories at this stage of a Serie A season was back in 1988, so Motta is coming under pressure to turn things around – starting this weekend.

Still the only team unbeaten at home in the Italian top flight this season, they have won 80% of their league games against Empoli in Turin, so nothing other than three points will do.

Sunday’s visitors will have other ideas, though, as both of Empoli’s last two meetings with Juventus have ended all square, including a goalless stalemate in September’s reverse fixture.

In fact, the Tuscan side have lost just one of the clubs’ last four league contests, having been beaten in 10 of the previous 11.

Last week, the Azzurri held Bologna to a 1-1 draw at Stadio Castellani, with Lorenzo Colombo‘s opening strike being cancelled out just before half time.

In isolation, that represents a good result for a team fighting for survival, but Empoli are now winless in seven Serie A matches, averaging just 0.3 points per game during that spell, compared to 1.3 across their first 15 fixtures.

At the Castellani, they have posted just one win and eight points so far, and such dismal home form leaves them dangerously close to the drop zone.

Davide Nicola‘s men fare much better on the road, though, so they might still fancy their chances of toppling Juventus.

    Team News

Juventus' Andrea Cambiaso pictured on January 14, 2025© Imago

Subject of much speculation around a winter switch to the Premier League, Andrea Cambiaso should be back in the Juventus squad after missing their midweek defeat with an ongoing ankle problem.

However, first-choice centre-back Pierre Kalulu has been sidelined by a muscular injury, so either new signing Renato Veiga or midfielder Manuel Locatelli could deputise in the hosts’ back four.

After scoring against Napoli, Randal Kolo Muani was ineligible to play Benfica, but he could now become the first man to find the net in his first two league games for Juve since Carlos Tevez in 2013; top scorer Dusan Vlahovic may be dropped to the bench.

Meanwhile, Empoli’s chief threat comes from Sebastiano Esposito, who has scored in each of his last four away appearances.

Once again, Ola Solbakken joins long-term absentees Pietro Pellegri, Nicolas Haas, Saba Sazonov and Tyronne Ebuehi on the Azzurri’s injury list.

Furthermore, Davide Nicola must do without suspended pair Alberto Grassi and Giuseppe Pezzella, while key defender Mattia Viti is struggling with an adductor issue.

    Juventus possible starting lineup:
Perin; Savona, Gatti, Veiga, Cambiaso; Locatelli, Thuram; Yildiz, Koopmeiners, Gonzalez; Kolo Muani

    Empoli possible starting lineup:
Vasquez; Goglichidze, Ismajli, De Sciglio; Gyasi, Henderson, Anjorin, Cacace; Fazzini, Esposito; Colombo

    We say: Juventus 2-1 Empoli

While Empoli can consider this Sunday lunchtime clash a free hit, Juventus are burdened by the need to reverse their recent downturn.

New additions have freshened up the hosts’ squad, so they can edge past an away side that knows how to grind out results on the road.

In this highly anticipated Serie A matchup, Juventus will face off against Empoli at the Allianz Stadium. Both teams will be looking to secure three points and continue their strong start to the season.

    Prediction:
Juventus, the reigning Serie A champions, are the clear favorites in this match. With a star-studded lineup including Cristiano Ronaldo, Paulo Dybala, and Matthijs de Ligt, they have the firepower to dominate their opponents. Empoli, on the other hand, will have to put in a solid defensive performance and capitalize on any chances they get to have a shot at causing an upset. However, we predict Juventus will come out on top with a comfortable 3-0 win.

    Team News:
Juventus will be without midfielder Arthur Melo and forward Federico Bernardeschi due to injuries. However, they still have a strong squad to choose from, and manager Massimiliano Allegri will likely stick with a similar lineup to their recent matches.

Empoli will be missing defender Antonino La Gumina and midfielder Petko Hristov due to injuries as well. Manager Alessio Dionisi will have to rely on his remaining players to step up and put in a solid performance against the reigning champions.

    Lineups:
Juventus: Szczesny, Danilo, De Ligt, Chiellini, Sandro, Bentancur, Locatelli, Cuadrado, Dybala, Chiesa, Ronaldo

Empoli: Vicario, Stojanovic, Ismajli, Tonelli, Parisi, Zurkowski, Ricci, Fiamozzi, Asllani, Bajrami, Mancuso

  • Motta: For Juventus to become a top team again, ‘you must be consistent’

As Juventus prepare for their upcoming home game against Tuscan side Empoli — whom they drew 0-0 earlier this season in September — manager Thiago Motta reflected on the game ahead and, more broadly, the team’s season thus far.

After two straight losses — the first at the hands of league leaders Napoli and the other against Portuguese giants Benfica earlier this week in the Champions League — Motta spoke of Sunday afternoon’s lunchtime matchup as an opportunity to gain momentum and confidence as the race for the top four in Serie A intensifies domestically and the club’s Champions League campaign transitions from the group phase to the knockout stage.

“I want us to win against Empoli: it is an important match, at home, and we have to put in a great performance,” Motta said. “We’re not happy with the latest results, the important thing is to focus on tomorrow’s match and to achieve success. In football everything counts, including, but not only, mentality: we work on every aspect of our game and sometimes it is frustrating when we have worked hard and not achieved the desired result.”

As the season intensifies and amid growing criticism about the Italo-Brazilian’s suitability for the Juventus job, Motta spoke about the club’s overall progression, reiterating his squad’s accomplishments while acknowledging their shortcomings. Despite representing a significant setback and a talking point throughout the season, Motta asserted that the club’s injury problems, although meaningful, can no longer be used as a scapegoat.

“The team has improved over the past few months, we are growing,” Motta said. “Injuries are not an excuse, but instead a reality that we are faced with: we will never use this as an excuse and we won’t do so in the future either. We have suffered defeats and we have to make sure we change these kinds of results.”

One of the areas that this season’s injury woes have particularly affected — and that the winter transfer window has attempted to remedy — is the defense. With key defenders Gleison Bremer and Juan Cabal both out for the season with ACL injuries, and other players picking up periodic injuries due to exhaustion, Motta spoke of the defense as an integral area for improvement.

“We must improve in all aspects: defensively, apart from the mistakes that will naturally happen, we must be able to limit those situations from which we concede,” Motta said. “The objective is to become a more solid and aggressive team, to know when to press, when to strike and hurt our opponent: all aspects that we will need against Empoli.

Motta argued that the team, above all, must strive for consistency.

“To be a top team you must be consistent: in the league, instead, we have had ups and downs, due to everything we have already said,” Motta said. “We still haven’t been able to find consistency: we’ve had games where we have played well without winning, in other words without achieving what is our main goal, which we work towards every day.”

Motta also discussed his potential lineup choices against Empoli, specifically clarifying the involvement of Pierre Kalulu — who, after picking up an injury against Benfica last week in the Champions League, is the latest victim of Juventus’ injury-plagued season.

“It’s a pity we won’t have Kalulu with us, who has been almost ever present since he arrived,” Motta said. “He won’t be available tomorrow and the others I’m sure will do well in his place. The new arrivals will give us a boost: let’s see if they will help the team from the start or as substitutes tomorrow.”

However, although hampered by injuries in defense, the club — especially with the recent arrival of striker Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain on loan — has an abundance of options up top. Motta said, regarding his forwards and the competition that the lack of space up top has created, that: “The forwards we have in the squad can play together, because they have great characteristics and are complementary.”

Finally, Motta spoke about how the club might compensate for Kalulu’s recent injury against Empoli tomorrow. New loan signing from Chelsea, Renato Veiga, might represent an option, while shifting certain players from midfield to defense might be another.

“Veiga I see as a central defender, but not only that: he has also played as a full-back and in midfield,” Motta said. “When we need him, if we need him, I will talk to him about it — as has happened with (Weston) McKennie, who proves every game that he can play in several roles. When Kalulu got injured, (Teun) Koopmeiners was the first to come to me and offer to play as a central defender: this is the attitude I want to see from the boys, who are willing to put themselves in trouble or sacrifice themselves in order to help the team win.”

In a recent interview with Juventus midfielder, Tiago Motta, he emphasized the importance of consistency in order for the team to once again reach the heights of being a top team.

Motta, who has experienced success with top clubs such as Barcelona and Inter Milan, understands the level of commitment and dedication required to consistently perform at a high level. He stated, “In order for Juventus to become a top team again, you must be consistent. It’s not enough to have moments of brilliance, you need to show up every game and give your all.”

The Brazilian midfielder also highlighted the need for a strong mentality within the team, stating that “having the right mindset is crucial in maintaining consistency. You need to believe in yourself and your teammates, and always strive to improve and push yourselves to the limit.”

With Motta’s experience and insight, Juventus fans can be hopeful that the team will continue to work towards reclaiming their status as one of the top teams in Europe. Consistency will be key in achieving this goal, and with the right mindset and determination, Juventus can once again be a force to be reckoned with.

  • Nikola Vučević wants ‘win-now mode’ team

TORONTO — Nikola Vučević knows the signs of when a team and a player are headed in opposite directions.

It’s happening in Chicago. The Bulls are building toward the long-term future, eyeing draft picks and shopping their top talent in the process. This pivot is hardly unexpected after a failed attempt to build their roster into an Eastern Conference contender ended with last summer’s departure of DeMar DeRozan.

But in his 14th NBA season, Vučević knows exactly what he wants — and it isn’t another rebuild.

“I’m getting closer to the end of my career,” he told the Tribune. “I would like to be somewhere that’s in win-now mode.”

This isn’t new for Vučević. The veteran center is intimately familiar with the feeling of watching a team’s future diverge from his own.

Vučević was the Orlando Magic’s cornerstone for nearly nine years, earning two All-Star selections while leading the team to a pair of playoff runs in 2019 and 2020. But by the start of the 2020-21 season, the roster had stalled out. Vučević knew it.

Leaving Orlando was always going to be an emotional blow after spending nearly a decade there and building a deep relationship with the community. But months before the Magic dealt him to the Bulls in March 2021, he could tell the end was near.

“From a basketball perspective, it was clear that it was going to happen — even if it didn’t happen then, it was going to happen sometime,” Vučević said. “That team had run its course and they were going in a different direction. So it made sense to do it.”

Although it took less time, Vučević has reached a similar stalemate in Chicago. Now, however, the Bulls are having a harder time finding a trade partner.

While the Golden State Warriors have shown consistent interest in Vučević ahead of next Thursday’s deadline, the Bulls are having a hard time getting any team to cough up their preferred return of a first-round pick — an almost necessary asking price after the Bulls bungled opportunities to acquire picks in prior trade negotiations for Alex Caruso and Andre Drummond.

How Chicago Bulls center Nikola Vučević is blocking out the trade noise to sustain his career-best shooting season

Vučević became difficult to trade last season as his 3-point shooting sunk to an all-time low, adding to the wariness for teams already uncertain about picking up a 33-year-old center on a (likely overpriced) three-year, $60 million contract.

He erased some of that trepidation by opening this season on a heater, shooting 47.3% from 3-point range in November. But Vučević is regressing rapidly to the mean at the absolute wrong time, plummeting below 27% behind the arc in January.

Orlando Magic center Nikola Vučević is reportedly seeking a trade to a team in “win-now mode” as he looks to compete for a championship. Vučević, who has spent his entire career with the Magic, is said to be eager to join a team that is ready to make a deep playoff run and contend for a title.

The 30-year-old big man has been a consistent force for the Magic, averaging a double-double in each of the past five seasons. However, with Orlando currently in a rebuilding phase and struggling to compete in the Eastern Conference, Vučević is looking for a change of scenery.

Several contending teams are said to be interested in acquiring Vučević, with the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, and Brooklyn Nets among those reportedly linked to the All-Star center. It remains to be seen where Vučević will ultimately end up, but one thing is clear – he is determined to join a team that is ready to win now.

Cybersecurity Awareness: Educating Yourself and Your Team

In today’s digital world, cybersecurity has become more important than ever. With the rise of cyber attacks and data breaches, it is essential for individuals and businesses to prioritize cybersecurity awareness. Educating yourself and your team on cybersecurity best practices can help protect sensitive information and prevent costly security incidents.

One of the first steps in increasing cybersecurity awareness is understanding the threats that exist. Cyber attacks can come in many forms, including phishing emails, malware, ransomware, and social engineering scams. By familiarizing yourself and your team with these threats, you can better recognize potential risks and take steps to prevent them.

Regular training and education sessions are crucial for building a strong cybersecurity culture within your organization. These sessions can cover topics such as password security, safe internet browsing habits, and how to spot phishing attempts. By providing your team with the knowledge and skills they need to protect themselves online, you can reduce the likelihood of a successful cyber attack.

It is also important to stay up to date on the latest cybersecurity trends and developments. Cyber threats are constantly evolving, so it is essential to stay informed about new attack techniques and vulnerabilities. By staying informed, you can adapt your security measures to protect against emerging threats and keep your data safe.

Implementing strong cybersecurity practices within your organization is another key component of cybersecurity awareness. This includes using firewalls, antivirus software, and encryption tools to protect your network and data. It also involves regularly updating software and systems to patch security vulnerabilities and minimize the risk of a breach.

In addition to educating your team, it is important to create a culture of accountability when it comes to cybersecurity. Encourage employees to report any suspicious activity or security incidents promptly so that they can be addressed before they escalate. By fostering a culture of transparency and communication, you can better protect your organization from cyber threats.

In conclusion, cybersecurity awareness is essential for protecting your organization from cyber attacks and data breaches. By educating yourself and your team on cybersecurity best practices, staying informed about the latest threats, and implementing strong security measures, you can reduce the risk of a security incident and keep your data safe. Prioritizing cybersecurity awareness is an investment in the future security and success of your organization.

How to Train and Develop a Strong Technical Support Team

A strong technical support team is essential for any organization that relies on technology to operate efficiently. These teams are responsible for troubleshooting issues, providing guidance, and ensuring that systems are running smoothly. To build a strong technical support team, it is important to invest in training and development programs that help team members enhance their skills and knowledge.

Here are some tips on how to train and develop a strong technical support team:

    1. Provide comprehensive technical training: Technical support teams need to have a deep understanding of the systems and technologies they are supporting. Providing comprehensive technical training programs can help team members develop the skills they need to troubleshoot issues effectively. This training should cover a wide range of topics, including software and hardware troubleshooting, network troubleshooting, and security protocols.

    2. Offer ongoing training and development opportunities: Technology is constantly evolving, and technical support teams need to stay up-to-date on the latest trends and developments in the industry. Offering ongoing training and development opportunities, such as workshops, webinars, and certification programs, can help team members sharpen their skills and stay current with new technologies.

    3. Encourage collaboration and knowledge sharing: Building a strong technical support team requires more than just technical expertise – it also requires effective communication and collaboration skills. Encouraging team members to collaborate and share their knowledge with each other can help build a strong team dynamic and enhance problem-solving capabilities.

    4. Provide opportunities for professional growth: Technical support team members who feel supported and valued are more likely to be engaged and productive. Providing opportunities for professional growth, such as career development programs, mentorship opportunities, and performance reviews, can help team members feel motivated and invested in their work.

    5. Foster a positive work culture: A positive work culture can have a significant impact on the performance and morale of a technical support team. Encouraging open communication, recognizing and rewarding team members for their achievements, and promoting a healthy work-life balance can help create a supportive and motivating work environment.

By investing in training and development programs, encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing, providing opportunities for professional growth, and fostering a positive work culture, organizations can build a strong technical support team that is well-equipped to handle the challenges of supporting complex systems and technologies. A strong technical support team can help organizations improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and enhance customer satisfaction.
