  • Jelly Roll & Brandon Lake Tease ‘Hard Fought Hallelujah’ Collab

Jelly Roll is teaming up with Contemporary Christian Music hitmaker Brandon Lake for a new collaboration on a fresh version of Lake’s hit song “Hard Fought Hallelujah.” Both Lake and Jelly Roll teased the song on social media this week, and the collaboration will officially release Feb. 7.

In November, Lake earned his Billboard Hot 100 debut with “Hard Fought Hallelujah,” which also became his sixth No. 1 on the Hot Christian Songs chart. The song’s sound and message resonated with listeners, prompting Lake to release his eight-track EP Hard Fought Hallelujah: Heavyweight Edition, featuring various versions of the song, including live, demo, acoustic and instrumental versions.

Lake shared a video snippet of the song on his Instagram, and Jelly Roll’s wife Bunnie XO commented on the post, writing of her husband Jelly Roll, “My baby is fineeee.”

Written by Lake with Steven Furtick, Benjamin William Hastings, Elevation Church singer-songwriter Chris Brown and Rodrick Simmons, the song features lyrics including “I’ll bring my storm-tossed, torn-sail, story-to-tell hallelujah.”

“I wanted to give my fans a taste of something special while on the road,” Lake shared of the song, according to CCM Magazine. “This song is about the battles we face, the grit throughout the fight for faith and the praise that comes after. I hope it resonates deeply with everyone.”

The collaboration seems a natural pairing for the two artists, as Jelly Roll often includes faith-centered references in his own music, while Lake’s brand of worship music wraps in hard rock and soulful influences. Jelly Roll’s current album, Beautifully Broken, topped the Billboard 200 last year, while Lake most recently earned Grammy nominations for best contemporary Christian music album (Coat of Many Colors) and best Contemporary Christian music performance/song (for “Praise”). Lake also picked up songwriter of the year (artist) and Pop/contemporary album of the year (for Coat of Many Colors) trophies at the 2024 GMA Dove Awards.

  • ‘Stranger Things 5’ will be like ‘8 blockbuster movies,’ Duffers tease franchise future

The future of Stranger Things seems bright, despite the current state of Hawkins, Ind.

Series creators Matt and Ross Duffer appeared on stage in Los Angeles for a globally live-streamed Netflix preview event of the streamer’s 2025 film and TV slates. The duo revealed a new behind-the-scenes teaser for Stranger Things 5 in the room, while confirming multiple other offshoots are in development for the franchise. Plus, they showed guests the first look at two of their upcoming non-Stranger Things Netflix series.

“We spent a full year filming this season,” Ross told the gathered crowd of Stranger Things 5. “By the end, we had captured over 650 hours of footage. So, needless to say, this is our biggest and most ambitious season yet. It’s like eight blockbuster movies. It’s pretty, pretty insane.”

“At the same [time], we think it’s — or hope it’s — our most personal story,” Matt added. “It was super intense and emotional to film — for us and for our actors we’ve been with for so long. And we’ve been making it together for almost 10 years now. There was a lot of crying. There was so much crying. The show means so much to all of us, and everyone put their hearts and souls into it. And we hope — and believe — that passion is going to translate to the screen.”

Stranger Things 5 will premiere this year and kick off the story with a one-year time jump from the season 4 finale. Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlinGaten Matarazzo, David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Sadie Sink, Joe KeeryMaya Hawke, Brett Gilman, Priah Ferguson, Jamie Campbell Bower, Cara Buono, and Amybeth McNulty all return to their roles. Terminator legend Linda Hamilton joins Nell Fisher, Jake Connelly, and Alex Breaux in new roles.

“Season 5 will be big and epic. There’s no time for a ramp-up. It’s going to be intense from beginning to end,” Matt said.

“It’s also going to feel familiar,” Ross added. “This season is the biggest it’s ever been in scale, but everyone’s back together in Hawkins, interacting the same way they were in season 1.”

Matt acknowledged that, while it may be the end of the story for these core characters, “it’s not goodbye for Stranger Things.” He confirmed, “There are many more stories to tell.” He pointed to Stranger Things: The First Shadow, the stage play and prequel story that is currently showcasing in London’s West End. The production makes its stateside debut this March on Broadway.

Sign up for Entertainment Weekly‘s free daily newsletter to get breaking TV news, exclusive first looks, recaps, reviews, interviews with your favorite stars, and more.

Beyond that, “There are more Stranger Things stories to tell and in the works,” Matt confirmed. “It’s a bit early at this point to talk about them, but we’re deeply involved in every one. It’s very important to us that anything with the Stranger Things name on it is of the highest quality and not repetitive, that it has a reason to exist and always blazes its own path. And also, it needs to basically just be awesome — or we need to think it’s awesome. And there are a lot of what we think are awesome things in the pipeline.”

In any case, the Duffers are sticking around Netflix for the foreseeable future. Through their production company, Upside Down Pictures, Matt and Ross are involved in two new series that are coming in 2026: The Boroughs and Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen.

The former “probably shares the most DNA with Stranger Things,” according to Matt, “because it’s about a group of misfits who fight an otherworldly evil.” The setting, however, is a retirement community. Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard, Bill Pullman, and “a host of other screen icons” star.

Meanwhile, Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, written by Haley Z. Boston and directed by Baby Reindeer‘s Weronika Tofilska, “follows a bride and groom in a chaotic, anxiety-filled week leading up to their wedding,” Ross explained. “It dives into the horror and dread that often comes with making a lifelong commitment to someone — something that anyone who’s ever been in a relationship can definitely relate to. We don’t want to say too much more about the story yet, but the title is accurate. Bad things do happen.”

Matt said both of these new shows “encompass what we feel is at the core of Stranger Things, and that is they’re stories about ordinary people who encounter the extraordinary.”

The Duffer Brothers, creators of the hit Netflix series “Stranger Things,” have teased that the upcoming fifth season will be like “8 blockbuster movies” packed into one. Fans of the show can expect even more thrills, chills, and nostalgia as the gang from Hawkins continues to battle supernatural forces.

In a recent interview, the Duffers hinted at the future of the “Stranger Things” franchise, suggesting that there is still plenty of story left to tell beyond season 5. With the success of the show and the dedicated fan base, it’s no surprise that they are considering expanding the universe even further.

While details about the plot of season 5 are still under wraps, one thing is for sure – fans can expect more of the same heart-pounding action and 80s references that have made “Stranger Things” a pop culture phenomenon.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ creators tease new supernatural show set in a retirement community: ‘They ride golf carts, not bikes’

    CNN
     —

While everyone is hanging at the edge of their seats for more info on the fifth and final season of “Stranger Things,” the brothers behind the hit show are already cooking up their next projects.

At a Netflix presentation of the streaming giant’s 2025 slate for press on Wednesday, “Stranger Things” creators Ross and Matt Duffer revealed that in 2026 they will be executive producing two new shows, titled “The Boroughs” and “Something Very Bad is Going to Happen,” both of which “encompass what we feel is at the core of ‘Stranger Things,’” according to Ross Duffer – “they’re stories about ordinary people who encounter the extraordinary.”

Matt Duffer added that “The Boroughs” “probably shares the most DNA with ‘Stranger Things’ because it’s about a group of misfits who fight an otherworldly evil.”

“Only unlike ‘Stranger Things,’ it’s set in a retirement community, so that’s something different,” he quipped. “This time our misfits are a little on the older side. They ride golf carts, not bikes,” he said, in reference to the young characters in “Stranger Things” who ride their bicycles around Hawkins, Indiana.

Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven, Finn Wolfhard as Mike Wheeler and Noah Schnapp as Will Byers in Season 4 of

Aside from the brief description, the pair were able to share some key cast members for “The Boroughs,” including Alfred Molina, Geena Davis, Alfre Woodard and Bill Pullman.

As for “Stranger Things,” the Duffers shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse at the concluding season and revealed that they’d spent an entire year filming it, capturing over 650 hours of footage.

“It’s like eight blockbuster movies. It’s pretty insane,” Ross Duffer said, while his brother highlighted that it “was super intense and emotional to film – for us and for our actors. We’ve been making this show together for almost ten years. There was a lot of crying. There was SO much crying.”

For context, “Stranger Things” first premiered on Netflix back in 2016, when star Millie Bobbie Brown was 11 (and coincidentally began playing a character named Eleven). Netflix chief content officer Bela Bajaria pointed this out at the presentation, going on to say that she was recently in attendance at Brown’s wedding.

If that weren’t enough, the Duffers also promised that Season 5 of “Stranger Things” wouldn’t mark the end of the story of the Upside Down.

“There are more ‘Stranger Things’ stories to tell and in the works. It’s a bit early at this point to talk about them, but we’re deeply involved in every one,” Matt Duffer teased.

Also in the mix at the Netflix presentation was more information on another sinister and escapist hit show – namely “Squid Game,” which debuted its second season last month.

Bajaria unveiled the news that the third and final season of the South Korean thriller series will hit the streamer on June 27.

The creators of the hit Netflix series “Stranger Things” are back with a new supernatural show set in a retirement community, and they are teasing fans with some intriguing details.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Duffer Brothers revealed that their new show will feature elderly residents who uncover mysterious and otherworldly happenings in their community. “They ride golf carts, not bikes,” Matt Duffer joked.

The show, which has not yet been officially titled, will explore themes of aging, friendship, and the supernatural, much like “Stranger Things.” However, the Duffer Brothers promise that this new series will have a unique and fresh take on the genre.

“We wanted to explore a different perspective on the supernatural, one that is often overlooked in popular culture,” Ross Duffer explained. “The residents of this retirement community may be older, but they are still capable of amazing feats and adventures.”

While details about the show are still scarce, fans can expect a blend of comedy, drama, and of course, plenty of supernatural elements. The Duffer Brothers are known for their ability to create compelling characters and intricate storylines, so this new project is sure to be a must-watch for fans of the supernatural genre.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new show from the creators of “Stranger Things.” Who knows, maybe these elderly residents will prove that age is just a number when it comes to fighting off supernatural forces.

  • ‘Stranger Things’ Season 5 Is the ‘Biggest It’s Ever Been’, Duffer Brothers Tease

Stranger Things is going out with a bang.

The fifth and final season of the beloved Netflix series will premiere later this year on the streamer, and the Duffer Brothers promise that they did not hold back for this final go-around.

Co-creator Matt Duffer described the final season as “big and epic” in a press release. “There’s no time for a ramp-up. It’s going to be intense from beginning to end.”

“It’s also going to feel familiar,” his brother, Ross Duffer, said. “This season is the biggest it’s ever been in scale, but everyone’s back together in Hawkins, interacting the same way they were in Season 1.”

Fans also got their first sense of what’s to come in the final season, as Netflix shared a missing person poster for Millie Bobby Brown‘s character Jane Hopper, also known as Eleven, on Instagram.

Per the poster, she’s been missing since June 1986, and season 5 takes place in the fall of 1987, per a teaser, which means it’s been more than a year since she was seen when the show picks up.

As the hit series — which stars Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Sink, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Winona Ryder and more — comes to an end, Matt and Ross will have two new exciting projects for the streamer in 2026: The Boroughs and Something Very Bad is Going to Happen.

“We’re gonna be hanging around at Netflix, which has been our home for the past 10 years,” Ross said. “We couldn’t ask for better partners. If you want to tell original stories like we do, this is really the place to be.”

Caleb McLaughlin, Finn Wolfhard, Winona Ryder and Noah Schnapp are pictured on the set of Stranger Things.

The creators’ tease comes more than a month after the cast wrapped filming the series, which left Wolfhard and his castmates “in shock.”

We shot it for a year and I’ll miss all of my friends and our characters terribly,” the 22-year-old, who plays Mike Wheeler, wrote on Instagram along with a photo from season 1 of the cast 10 years younger.

“When I think of the show, I picture this first photo. A bunch of goofy young people making something they think is cool but really have no clue what’s to come. I feel like we’re still those people and I’m lucky to still stand beside them today.”

Maya Hawke, Joey Keery, Finn Wolfhard and Charlie Heaton are pictured on the set of Stranger Things.

Noah Schnapp also posted a lengthy farewell to the show, as he said he was “feeling very emotional” after he’d “wrapped my final scene as Will Byers.”

Stranger Things was more than a job; it was a lifelong dream. A dream made reality thanks to the Duffers. Thank you for taking a chance on me when I was just a 10-year-old kid and entrusting me with something so important to you both,” he continued.

“Together, this cast + crew has built something so very special, and I couldn’t be any more excited for the world to see the final chapter. Stranger Things is a never-ending story for me – it’s in my heart forever..”

  • Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal tease ‘When Harry Met Sally’ reunion: ‘It’s finally happening’

    We’ll have what they’re having.

Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal have “When Harry Met Sally…” fans saying “Yes! Yes! Yes!” after teasing an upcoming reunion.

In a photo posted on the main grid of their Instagram accounts on Wednesday, the “You’ve Got Mail” actress, 63, and the “City Slickers” star, 76, smile as they sit on a set reminiscent of one that plays a major role in “When Harry Met Sally…”

“It’s finally happening, we’re reuniting for something iconic,” Ryan captioned the post. “Can’t wait to show you all soon.”

In a clear allusion to the role he played in the beloved 1989 romantic comedy, Crystal wears Harry’s famous Aran-style fisherman pullover sweater (which has taken on a fandom of its own over the years).

The pair also sit on a sofa bearing a striking resemblance to one used in multiple documentary-style scenes that served as a framing device in the movie, where fictional couples shared details of their love stories. Harry and Sally’s confessional interview was the movie’s final scene.

Glee-ridden fans quickly flooded the comments section of Ryan’s post, unable to contain their euphoric delight.

“Amazing, together. Does this mean we will find out what happened to Harry and Sally[?]” one person asked.

“IT’S HAPPENING OH MY GOD EVERYONE REMAIN CALM,” another wrote, with many more sharing similar sentiments such as, “NOBODY MOVE,” “my heart just dropped!!!!!!” and “I’m not going to be able to handle this.”

Crystal recently spoke about where he thinks his and Ryan’s “When Harry Met Sally…” characters would be today, 36 years after they fell in love.

“They’d be talking about downsizing,” he told E!’s red carpet host Laverne Cox ahead of the 2024 Primetime Emmy Awards last September.

“They’re not ready for assisted living yet. But they’re still romantic, still in love.”

He added, “They’re probably having a great time with their grandchildren and finding new ways to be with each other.”

Crystal also opened up about how he feels to have been part of a movie that has resonated with audiences over three decades.

“It’s extraordinary to be part of an evergreen [movie] like that after all these years,” he remarked. “Young people finding it; getting called from film schools and 22-year-olds finding the movie; 21-year-olds, and coming to speak to them about it.”

Asked to explain the film’s staying power, the nine-time Oscar host credited Rob Reiner’s “great directing” and a “brilliant script” from screenwriter Nora Ephron, who passed away in 2012 at the age of 71, along with Ryan and their late co-stars Bruno Kirby and Carrie Fisher.

“It was a small but powerful group,” he said.

Exciting news for fans of the romantic comedy classic “When Harry Met Sally”! Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal have been teasing a possible reunion for the beloved film, and it looks like it’s finally happening.

The two stars recently took to social media to share a series of cryptic posts hinting at a special project in the works. Ryan posted a photo of herself and Crystal with the caption, “Can’t wait to reunite with my old friend Billy Crystal…stay tuned for some exciting news!” Crystal followed suit with a post of his own, saying, “Get ready for some big news…it’s going to be a reunion to remember!”

Fans of the 1989 film, which follows the tumultuous relationship between Harry and Sally over the course of 12 years, have been eagerly anticipating a reunion for years. The chemistry between Ryan and Crystal on screen was undeniable, and their playful banter and witty dialogue have become iconic in the world of romantic comedies.

While details of the reunion are still under wraps, it’s safe to say that fans can expect plenty of laughs, heartwarming moments, and maybe even a few surprises along the way. Keep an eye out for more updates from Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal as they continue to tease what is sure to be a memorable reunion for fans of “When Harry Met Sally”.

  • Silksong fans believe creator’s Switch 2 tease points to April game announcement – and it’s all thanks to a slice of cake

Desperate Silksong fans believe a new ARG hinting at the long-awaited game’s release date has begun, involving the Nintendo Switch 2 and a slice of cake.

Let’s break it down. Two days ago, Hollow Knight and Silksong co-creator William Pellen updated his social media handle, profile name and picture on X.

His handle is now @everydruidwaswr, his name is now “little bomey” and his profile picture is a slice of cake. It’s this slice of cake which fans have now linked to Switch 2.

Why? Well, Pellen went on to tweet: “something big is coming. keep your eyes closed tomorrow”. Tomorrow meaning the 16th January – which was of course when Switch 2 was announced.

So maybe Pellen was just in the know, as a lot of people were, about the Switch 2 reveal? Or, Silksong fans say, maybe there’s more!

A Google reverse image search on the slice of cake image does throw up something odd: that it comes from a recipe page posted on 2nd April 2024. That’s exactly a year ahead of 2nd April 2025, when Nintendo will hold a huge Switch 2 Nintendo Direct and unveil the console’s game line-up properly.

Could it be deliberate? Over on the Silksong reddit, fans say developer Team Cherry has dropped similarly labyrinthine hints previously. Fans also reason that an appearance in the Switch 2 Direct would be a reasonable place for the game to finally materialise.

Silksong’s launch made Eurogamer’s list of our most anticipated moments of 2025 – if it actually launches this year, following years of delays.

“Silksong is the fast-paced and fluid sequel Hollow Knight deserves,” we said after playing a demo of the game – all the way back in 2019.

Silksong fans have been eagerly awaiting news on the highly anticipated sequel to Hollow Knight, and a recent tease from the game’s creator has sparked new excitement. Team Cherry recently shared a photo on Twitter of a slice of cake with the caption “Switch 2,” leading fans to believe that an announcement for Silksong could be coming soon.

Many fans have speculated that the reference to “Switch 2” could be hinting at an upcoming announcement for the game on the Nintendo Switch. With the cake slice appearing to be in the shape of a “2,” fans are hopeful that an April game announcement could be on the horizon.

While Team Cherry has not confirmed any specific details about a release date for Silksong, the recent tease has given fans renewed hope that they may finally get to dive into the world of Silksong in the near future. Keep an eye out for any further announcements from Team Cherry, and in the meantime, enjoy this slice of cake as a tasty reminder of what’s to come.

  • The Last Of Us Part 3 ‘one more chapter’ tease has us braced for the end – Playstation

The Last Of Us Part 3 ‘one more chapter’ tease has us braced for the end – Playstation

The Last Of Us Part 3 'one more chapter' has us braced for the end

    One more journey

As I’m sure you’re aware, Naughty Dog is moving away from The Last Of Us and Uncharted to give us a fascinating new IP – but that doesn’t mean there aren’t plans for The Last Us Part 3.

While Naughty Dog’s main focus right now is the stunning-looking Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, a new chapter in The Last Of Us saga is all but guaranteed. The bad news? It’s almost certainly going to be the final chapter.

During a recent documentary about the making of The Last Of Us Part 2, developer Neil Druckmann confirmed he has a plan for the third game, but that it will likely be the end of the story.

“The first game had such a clean concept of like, the unconditional love a parent feels for their child,” Druckmann explained.

“The second one, once we landed on this idea of the pursuit of justice at any cost, justice for the ones you love, we felt like, ‘there’s a clean concept here and there’s a throughline from the first game, about love.’ If we never get to do it again, this is a fine ending point. Last bite of the apple, the story’s done.”

He added: “The great thing about working at Naughty Dog is that we don’t have to. It’s always like, ‘we would love another Last Of Us, but if you guys feel you’re passionate about something else, we’ll support this other thing.’ Very privileged position to be in, I never take that for granted. I’ve been just thinking about it, ‘is there a concept there?’ And for now years, I haven’t been able to find that concept. But recently, that’s changed, and I don’t have a story, but I do have that concept that to me is as exciting as 1, as exciting as 2, is its own thing, and yet has this throughline for all three. So it does feel like there’s probably one more chapter to this story.”

As sad as we are to know the end is coming, we can safely bet it’ll be a long way off. Intergalactic doesn’t even have a release date yet, which suggests to us The Last Of Us Part 3 is little more than a glint in Druckmann’s eye at this stage.

Still, when the end does come, I know it’s going to be devastating.

The Last of Us Part 3 has been highly anticipated since the release of Part 2, which left fans with a cliffhanger ending that left us craving for more. The teaser for “one more chapter” has only heightened our anticipation, as we prepare for the conclusion of Ellie and Joel’s story.

With stunning visuals, intense gameplay, and emotional storytelling, The Last of Us series has captured the hearts of gamers around the world. And now, with the promise of one more chapter, we can only imagine what twists and turns await us in this final installment.

They may have broken up at the end of Season 21, then decided to remain that way early on in Season 22, but that just means there’s time for them to find their way back to one another. That includes an incoming episode in which Palmer’s daughter Victoria — who perhaps took the breakup the hardest, sending reminder texts to both — gets involved in. case. She’s “going to team up with her father to help take down an infamous bank robber, like a D.B. Cooper type person, and Knight’s going to be involved in this episode,” executive producer Steven D. Binder tells TV Insider. “Jimmy’s going to have to go undercover.

Severance Team Tease ‘She’s Alive!’ Mystery, How Someone ‘Pays a Big Price’ in Season 2 — WATCH

    “She’s alive!”

Mark S. announced that to a congregation of “outie” Mark Scout’s family and friends, as Severance Season 1 came to an abrupt end.

Alas, he may come to regret his economy of words.

In the acclaimed Apple TV+ drama’s freshman finale, which was released way, way back in April 2022, Lumon wonks Mark S., Helly R., Irving B. and Dylan G. came to realize that by sneakily seizing access to the Overtime Contingency Protocol, they could insert themselves in their “outie” lives. It fell on Dylan to semi-gymnastically keep the OCP switch literally flipped in the security room, while his coworkers took stock of their outside existences.

We learned that Helly’s Helena Eagan is the daughter of Lumon CEO Jame Eagan, and had undergone severance as a demonstration of support for the controversial procedure.

Irving Bailiff pored over his (suspicious) stacks of intel on Lumon employees to find out where workplace soulmate Burt lived — with another man.

And Mark S. was dealt two whammies — that boss lady Harmon Cobel is Mark Scout’s neighbor, Mrs. Selvig, and that Lumon wellness counselor Miss Casey is Mark’s “dead” wife Gemma!

That was the news Mark S. bellowed at the close of Season 1, but as portrayer Adam Scott and executive producer Ben Stiller note in the TVLine video above, “She’s alive!” will be met with some confusion by Mark Scout’s sister and friends.

Ahead of Mark S.’ declaration, Ms. Cobel — having realized that the OCP had been triggered — called colleague Mr. Milchick and ordered him to race to the security room, while she herself sped to Lumon to stop Helly R. from spilling ugly severance secrets to a room full of gala guests. In the video above, Patricia Arquette previews just how successful (or not) Cobel was in that regard, and how severe the blowback will be.

As for Irving showing up on Burt’s doorstep just ahead of the OCP being shut off, Christopher Walken in the video above confirms that a perhaps-unexpected amount of the retired O&D chief will be seen in Season 2, despite Irving B. being cut off anew from his outside life.

At the 2:30 mark, Severance creator Dan Erickson talks about the decision to open Season 2 with a pair of uniquely structured episodes that respectively pull us back into the MRD team’s “innie” and “outie” lives, all of which undoubtedly are changed by the 39-minute duration of their season-ending “awakening.”

Lastly, Britt Lower (who plays Helly R./Helena) talks about the “fun part” of “unpacking” Severance mysteries, after which castmate John Turturro gave us a firm warning about spilling any spoilers from the first six episodes (of Season 2’s 10) made available to press.

Exciting news for fans of the hit show Severance! The official trailer for Season 2 has just been released, and it teases a mysterious new plotline that has fans buzzing.

In the trailer, a voiceover can be heard saying, “She’s alive!” This cryptic message has left viewers wondering who exactly is alive, and what role they will play in the upcoming season.

Additionally, the trailer hints at someone “paying a big price” in Season 2. Could this be related to the mysterious resurrection of a character, or is there something more sinister at play?

Fans will have to wait until the new season premieres to find out the answers to these burning questions. In the meantime, check out the trailer for Season 2 of Severance below and start speculating!

  • JEFF LOOMIS And VAN WILLIAMS Tease Return Of NEVERMORE: ‘A New Chapter Rises’

JEFF LOOMIS And VAN WILLIAMS Tease Return Of NEVERMORE: ‘A New Chapter Rises’

Guitarist Jeff Loomis and drummer Van Williams are teasing the return of their longtime band NEVERMORE.

Earlier today (Friday, December 27),Loomis and Williams both shared a one-minute video teaser containing various NEVERMORE-related imagery and what appear to be the silhouettes of Loomis and Williams along with the text “Resurrecting The Dream”. The teaser ends with the NEVERMORE logo along with the line “A New Chapter Rises” and the year “2025”.

NEVERMORE effectively split up in 2011 when Loomis and Williams announced their departure from the band due to personal differences with singer Warrel Dane and bassist Jim Sheppard. Warrel later described NEVERMORE in an interview as “the greatest band that alcohol ever ruined.”

Dane died in December 2017 in São Paulo, Brazil at the age of 56 while recording his posthumously released solo studio album, “Shadow Work”. The musician reportedly had a heart attack during the night and could not be revived.

According to guitarist Johnny Moraes, who played in Warrel‘s solo band, Dane had a history of addiction and other health issues. “His health was already very weak because of his diabetes and his problems with alcoholism,” he said.

The instrumental parts for Dane‘s follow-up to 2008’s “Praises To The War Machine” solo album were almost completed and he had begun laying down his vocals shortly before his death.

In a 2019 interview with Metal Master Kingdom, Loomis was asked if there were any plans to resurrect NEVERMORE without Dane. Jeff responded: “It’s one of those things where I think NEVERMORE had such a special sound and it was simply because of all the musicians that were in that at the time. Van, me, Warrel, Jim. We had numerous different guitarists in the band throughout the years. We had Chris Broderick, we had Tim Calvert, who sadly passed away. A lot of good players. Steve Smyth, Curran Murphy. All these guys were a part of NEVERMORE in the past. Honestly, in my vision, it’s important that you move on in your life. I really would like to remember the spirit and the attitude that we had as a band with the music and just move on from there. Because without Warrel, it’s just not feasible, in my mind. [He is] sadly missed. He was one of my best friends. Things like that happen and it’s a very sad situation. It really was. But we have the music to remember it all by.”

In 2018 interview with France’s Loud TV, Loomis stated about Dane‘s passing: “It’s a sad situation with one of my best friends that I grew up being in a band with. [He was] one of the best lyricists in metal, I believe, that was ever out there — a fabulous person. He was a troubled person too at the same time; he had some issues. We had many great times together in the past, and we had many bad times, but I would say that the good times outweighed the bad. And in the end, we were talking still as friends, and we talked in the end before he passed away. We were on good terms. It’s a very sad loss to the music community and he’ll be well remembered as one of the great vocalists of a metal era.”

Loomis added that Warrel had been “struggling with drinking and things like this” for years before he died. “I’m not getting into too much detail there,” he said. “He had some troubles. I’m gonna miss him a lot. He was a great friend of mine and he was a wonderful human being.”

Asked if there was any talk of a NEVERMORE reunion before Warrel passed away, Jeff said: “I think that once you do something for such a long time and you make your mark in the music world, sometimes things do have to come to an end. And, unfortunately, with my situation with NEVERMORE, after 18 years of being in the band, it marked kind of an end of an area. And for me personally, it was kind of moving on to another chapter in my life. There was talks, like maybe [in late 2016] about maybe doing a reunion show, but it never happened, of course. Obviously, now it’s not going to happen.”

Loomis “amicably” left ARCH ENEMY in December 2023 and was replaced by Joey Concepcion.

Jeff, who was the main songwriter in NEVERMORE, joined ARCH ENEMY in late 2014, but was not involved in the writing for the latter act’s last two albums, 2017’s “Will To Power” and 2022’s “Deceivers”.

JEFF LOOMIS And VAN WILLIAMS Tease Return Of NEVERMORE: ‘A New Chapter Rises’

Fans of the legendary metal band NEVERMORE were thrilled today as founding members Jeff Loomis and Van Williams took to social media to tease the band’s return. In a cryptic post, the duo shared a photo of themselves in the studio with the caption, “A new chapter rises.”

Speculation has been running rampant among fans, with many hoping for a full reunion of the band that disbanded in 2011. NEVERMORE was known for their unique blend of thrash and progressive metal, as well as their thought-provoking lyrics and powerful vocals.

Loomis and Williams have both gone on to have successful careers in music since the band’s breakup, but the prospect of a NEVERMORE reunion has fans buzzing with excitement. Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops.
