Nicole Kidman‘s steamy new erotic thriller Babygirl has opened in theatres to rave reviews – but AMC fans are fuming over a small detail.

Kidman, 57, has became synonymous with the theater chain after she starred in their now-iconic national advertising campaign in September 2021 – however, fans were disappointed to discover that Kidman’s ads weren’t playing before Babygirl at AMC theaters.

‘So AMC said, no Nicole Kidman ad before Babygirl. But every other movie has it?’ a user raged on X, formerly known as Twitter.

They continued: ‘Thought it was just me. No every Babygirl screening suffers the same fate. I feel betrayed. Heartbreak doesn’t feel good in a place like this fam.’

‘No Nicole Kidman AMC ad before Babygirl had the entire auditorium crying, searching, confused, and scared,’ declared another.

‘The way everyone in the theater gasped last night when they didn’t play Nicole Kidman’s AMC commercial before her own movie, Babygirl,’ another devastated fan chimed in. 

‘No Nicole Kidman AMC ad before Babygirl wtf is this country coming to?’ complained someone else.

‘So I watch Babygirl at AMC and they showed me a Sonic Hedgehog AMC ad instead of the Nicole Kidman ad? That was the perfect opportunity to see it and they scraped it,’ whined another. 

The ad featured Kidman in a hooded trench coat entering an AMC Theater, extolling the highlights of going to a cinema.

Her line, ‘Heartbreak feels good in a place like this,’ has become the subject of various memes over the years.

Babygirl, which opened on Christmas day, has already had rave reviews. 

The movie is currently certified as ‘fresh’ on movie review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes, with a score of 79 percent.

Kidman recently teased her erotic drama Babygirl is her most risqué role to date as she shed light on the steamy project.

Babygirl sees Nicole take on the role of Romy, a business executive who is balancing her career with trying to find fulfillment in her marriage to a theatre director.

Cracks in their marriage appear when new intern Samuel makes his attraction to Romy clear and they begin to explore a ‘forbidden sexual dynamic.’

Director Halina Reijn is said to have wanted to put specific focus on the female orgasm in the thriller, with one charged scene showing Romy masturbating.

Addressing the erotic scenes, Kidman – who most recently starred in another age-gap romance, A Family Affair – admitted it is the most ‘exposed’ she has ever felt in front of the camera.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, she said she wasn’t sure she would be ‘brave enough’ to watch the film on the big screen.

‘There’s something in me going: “OK, this was made for the big screen and to be seen with people.” I’m not sure I have that much bravery,’ the actress told the publication.

‘I’ve made some films that are pretty exposing, but not like this,’ she added of the ‘confronting’ experience.

Kidman shared her apprehension over audiences seeing the sex scenes, admitting the ‘vulnerable’ filming process left her feeling ‘ragged.’

‘It’s like, golly, I’m doing this, and it’s actually now going to be seen by the world. That’s a very weird feeling,’ she said. 

‘This is something you hide in your home videos. It’s not a thing that normally is going to be seen by the world.’
