    Bill Maher called China the “new Islam” and accused the left of not being “honest” about their threat “because they’re not white.”

    During a panel discussion on Friday’s Real Time , Maher brought up China’s advancements in AI, noting the China startup DeepSeek has emerged as a major rival to US companies recently. The comedian compared the race between the United States and China on the technology front to the space race between the US and Russia.

    He said:

    “Sputnik is at the beginning of the space race in the late 50s. There were Russians. We thought we were going to beat them to the moon. And Russians put up some satellite. I forget what it was. It was Sputnik. Sputnik one. And then suddenly we were like, fuck, they could beat us. And now we are doing this. We are at that moment. That’s why they’re calling it a Sputnik moment with AI. We thought we were way ahead of China.”

    Maher also noted former FBI Director Christopher Wray has recently warned of cyberattacks by China on critical US infrastructure.

    Maher called China “kind of an evil empire” and said liberals are unwilling to treat them as such being they “make everything about race.”

    “I mean, we couldn’t look into the origins of COVID being from the lab, which now the CIA, this week, has joined the FBI and many other organizations saying it probably did come from a lab. I said it from the beginning. It’s being studied in this lab where it breaks out. Really? We’re gonna even wonder about this?” he said, going on to cite a New York Times reporter calling Covid lab leak theories potentially racist and not plausible.

    Maher declared China is “the new Islam” in that people are too hesitant to criticize out of fear for how they’ll be perceived.

    “China’s like the new Islam. We can’t be honest about them because they’re not white,” he said. “And China, okay, I’m sorry, kids, they do some bad things, China. And we should just recognize that.”

    The Flip Off crew revealed that they have a group chat!

    During an Instagram Live on Wednesday, Jan. 29, Christina Haack sat down with her ex-husband, Tarek El Moussa, and his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, to answer fan questions about their new HGTV competition series. And while the trio confirmed that they are, in fact, on a private text chain together, the reality stars remained coy about the name.

    “Oh, we have a group chat,” Christina, 41, said in response to a viewer question.

    “We don’t have a name,” Heather, 37, chimed in before saying, “Oh! I know what it would be.”

    Heather then proceeded to whisper the potential name to Christina, who emphatically agreed. “Yes!” she responded.

    However, the ladies declined to share the potential group chat name with fans.

    Later in the conversation, another person asked if fans can expect a Heather and Christina spin-off show at some point in the future.

    “No,” Tarek, 43, quickly said in a jokingly firm voice.

    Heather and Christina, however, seemed intrigued by the idea, with Heather saying, “Flip Off! Girls Edition!” with a laugh.

    The Flip Off was initially announced in May 2024 and was originally set to follow Tarek and Heather as they competed in a house flipping competition against Christina and her then-partner, Josh Hall. However, the show’s premise became less clear after Josh, 44, officially filed for divorce from Christina on July 15, 2024 after nearly three years of marriage.

    Promotions for the show have since only featured Christina, Tarek and Heather, and a December 2024 press release from HGTV confirmed that Christina would be working with her “trusted team” as opposed to her ex this season.

    Further details about the situation between Christina and Josh emerged during the show’s premiere on Jan. 29.

    In an on-camera sit down between Christina and Tarek — who co-parent kids Taylor, 14, and Brayden, 9 — Christina revealed that Josh would give her the silent treatment whenever she spoke to Tarek. 

    “You make him very insecure,” she tearfully told Tarek during the conversation. “Every time we’d barely joke at [the kids’] soccer [games], or if I laughed at you, he like would not speak to me for two to three days.”

    Christina and Tarek separated in 2016 after seven years of marriage and officially divorced the following year, though they continued to host their HGTV show Flip or Flop for several seasons after their split.

    In a Jan. 29th appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Christina shared that she thinks competing on the upcoming season without a partner actually puts her at an advantage. 

    “It’s so much easier without somebody else bothering me,” she said on the talk show. “I mean, I don’t have to ask approval from anyone. No one’s, like, weighing me down.”

    An hour ago, Fisher took to Instagram to announce that the two were expecting a child, with the caption reading, “Our sweetest blessing. Just over halfway with the baby girl.”

    Famously, Wetzel has kept his dating life incredibly private throughout his career, rarely talking about his love life both on social media and in interviews. With that being said, Wetzel and Fisher have been together on and off since at least 2014, However, judging by this Instagram photo posted by Fisher back on December 26, 2019, it seems like the two have been seeing each other consistently since then.

    According to Fisher, she’s halfway through her pregnancy, meaning the pair should be expecting their baby girl around late springtime. As of now, Koe himself has yet to publicly announce that he and Fisher are expecting on any of his social media accounts.

  • “They’re Going To Marbury You” – Carmelo Anthony Was Brutally Honest While Breaking Down The Jimmy Butler Trade Saga

    With the NBA trade deadline quickly approaching (Feb 6th), it’s only a matter of time before we finally have a resolution one way or another to the Jimmy Butler saga. Deadlines spur action, so my guess is Shams already has the tweet written in his drafts and is just waiting on the confirmation before he sits sent on the tweet.

    As outsiders, all we can do is look at this situation through what’s being leaked to us from the team side and the player side. That can be tricky of course because when that happens you need to remember that you’re basically being given propaganda. The team is going to do what they can to make Jimmy look bad, and in return, Jimmy’s camp is going to do the same thing about Pat Riley and the franchise. It’s all an attempt to put pressure on one another while also winning the battle in the court of public opinion.

    It’s all posturing and agenda-pushing, much like it is with all of these types of trade demands. Remember the James Harden saga? Or the Ben Simmons saga? Or the Dame saga? There’s a reason these breakups are almost always nasty.

    That’s why I found Carmelo Anthony’s perspective on this situation pretty interesting. For all the annoying former player podcasts that may be out there that do nothing but say stupid shit in hopes of going viral, that’s never really been the case with Melo’s. In fact, I’d argue it’s actually one of the best listens we have if you’re looking for a player perspective. If there’s anyone who is qualified to weigh in on Bulter’s situation and all the different aspects that go along with it, it’s probably Melo. He’s a guy who has been there before, and while he didn’t exactly burn everything to the ground like Jimmy Butler tends to do, he did find himself in similar situations throughout this career

     Is it a coincidence that we’re now also getting leaks that Steph/Kerr don’t love the idea of adding Jimmy Butler to that team and that locker room? They are a team that desperately needs help for Steph, and even they are like “ehhhhhhhhh we’re OK”. To me, that’s partially what Melo is talking about. The way he’s acting, teams aren’t going to give a shit about the basketball side, which also has it’s own set of issues as he continues to age. At some point organizations are going to collectively decide you are not worth the trouble.

    His point about being “Marbury’d” should not be overlooked. We’ve seen how the league operates in cases like this. Teams simply remove you from the equation and exile you to overseas basketball. It wasn’t a situation where Marbury wasn’t an effective basketball player, it was everything else that came with it to where teams got to the point where they weren’t willing to put up with the bullshit.

    You can start to feel that happening with Butler. The Heat are telling him to stay away, other teams that could probably use his skillset are reluctant to bring him in. Given his age and price, who knows what the future looks like for Jimmy Butler after he picks up his final player option? Unless whoever trades for him immediately gives him an extension, is it so crazy to think that few teams if any will be blowing up his phone after his player option season next year? I don’t think you can rule out a scenario where this tweet becomes a reality

    In the end, I still think the Heat find a partner in these next few days. Despite all the drama and the bullshit that comes with bringing Jimmy Butler in, when guys want to be traded, they tend to be traded no matter how much they tank their value. James Harden got fat as shit and flat out quit during games and he got what he wanted. Ben Simmons simply refused to play altogether, and he got what he wanted. 

    But if I were Jimmy Butler, I’d probably listen to Melo on this one. He’s been there before, he’s gone through it, and honestly, he gave probably the best take on this entire situation. Sort of reminds me of another issue Melo was right on the nose about

The Queens of California real estate seemingly made a hasty move to the UK, selling their dream home to the shock of everyone. However, there’s still one property they need to unload, and they’re trying to do it as quickly as possible.

    According to SFGate, the pair have one final Los Angeles property, and it’s one fans may be familiar with. Back in late 2022, the pair bought Tom Ford’s old home: a five-bedroom, 6.5-bathroom home for $29 million.

    Now, this is where it gets a little complicated: they listed the house soon after renovations for $33.9 million. It went off the market, with many thinking it got sold, but nope! It was just removed in Aug 2024, and they’re now listing it for less than a million more than when they bought it: for $29.99 million.

    So it’s quite clear that they’re quite gun-ho about leaving their US roots behind, especially since they’re selling this mega mansion for such a low number compared to when they bought and renovated it.

  • Kings vs. Warriors Preview: Kick them while they’re down


    The Kings and Warriors enter tonight’s matchup in the midst of turning points for both franchises.  The Kings have won 9 of 11 under new head coach Doug Christie, appearing rejuvenated after a woeful start to the season.  Meanwhile the Warriors have gone 9-18 since a 12-3 start and are fresh off their worst home loss since 1985.  These two franchises are currently going in opposite directions but if there’s anything we’ve learned from the past few seasons, it’s that Kings-Warriors games tend to get crazy no matter what.  Hopefully the Kings can keep their momentum going as they head into one of the toughest road trips of the season.

    The Warriors are in disarray right now, having just lost by 40 at home to the Celtics on Monday.  They’re banged up as well, and will be entering tonight’s matchup in Sacramento without the services of Draymond Green, Jonathan Kuminga, Kyle Anderson or Brandon Podziemski.  That makes the Warriors smaller than even the Kings.  However, it doesn’t mean the Warriors aren’t dangerous.  This is a team with the best shooter of all time after all.  We’ve seen Steph Curry drop 50 in this very arena before, and if the Kings aren’t aggressive in limiting his opportunities, Curry is more than capable of carrying the Warriors to victory by himself.  The Kings know that better than almost anyone given how frequently they’ve played this Warriors team over the last three years, and I expect Coach Christie’s gameplan will be focused on keeping the ball out of Curry’s hands and making other Warriors players beat us.

    In Sacramento’s first matchup against the Warriors this season, the Kings dominated from the tip and never let up.  The end result was a 129-99 Kings victory in San Francisco, and the Kings did that without the services of De’Aaron Fox, who will be playing tonight.  Malik Monk led the way for the Kings with 26 points and 12 assists, and Domantas Sabonis added 22 points, 13 rebounds and 7 assists.  Steph Curry had a decent game with 26 points, but got little help besides that.  The Kings managed to outshoot the Warriors from distance, making 19 of 43 threes compared to just 12 of 35 for Golden State.  That’s been a trend for the Warriors all season, as they’ve gone just 4-9 when making 12 or fewer threes, but 12-6 if they hit at least 15.  Keeping the Warriors off the three point line is going to be important, especially with the small ball they are likely to play tonight.

    Golden State’s lack of size also means the Kings should feature Domantas Sabonis heavily.  In their last matchup, Sabonis thoroughly outplayed Trayce Jackson-Davis, shooting 10-13 from the field while Jackson-Davis only took 3 shots and missed all of them, while grabbing just 2 rebounds in almost 18 minutes of action.  Kevon Looney fared a bit better, but this isn’t the same Domantas Sabonis that the Warriors exploited in the playoffs a couple of years ago.  If you leave Domantas Sabonis wide open now, he is going to punish you.  Sabonis is currently leading the league in 3P% at a ridiculous 48.4% on 2.4 attempts a game.

    For the Kings, this is a very important game as it’s the last home game they’ll play this month, with only two more home games remaining until the All-Star break.  The Kings have won their last six home games in a row, and are back up to .500 at home with a 12-12 record.  Given how tight the NBA standings currently are, each game is incredibly important, especially against opponents like the Warriors that are right there with the Kings.  A loss tonight could see the Kings drop from 8th to 11th, while a win could put the Kings up to 7th if the Mavericks also lose.  It would also give you a heads up on potential tie breakers with the Warriors if the Kings are able to secure the first two games of the season series.  As De’Aaron Fox said after yesterday’s practice, Sacramento’s mentality has to be to “kick them while they’re down”.

  • Billy Corgan and Bill Burr Address If They’re Half-Brothers


    A couple months ago, Billy Corgan told Howie Mandel that comedian Bill Burr could very well be his half-brother. With Burr as the latest guest on his podcast, Mandel surprised the funnyman with a visit from the Smashing Pumpkins frontman — leading to a meeting of the two Bills.

    On the November episode, Mandel’s production team erroneously put up a photo of Burr during Corgan’s turn on the podcast, leading the alt-rock legend to disclose that he may be related to his celebrity look-alike.

    “Most of my friends don’t even know this story,” began Corgan. “About 10 years ago, one of my brothers was having a birthday party, and my stepmother was there, who was obviously married to my father. And my stepmother said to me, ‘Do you know who Bill Burr is?’ Now at that point, I had never heard of Bill Burr; I didn’t know who he was. I didn’t know he was a comedian or anything. He could have been the guy down the street.”

    The singer-guitarist continued, “I thought the first thing she was going to say was, ‘Oh, I thought you’d notice the resemblance. She goes, ‘I think it might be one of your father’s illegitimate children. Bill Burr might be one of the children that your father sired in his days being a traveling musician.’ This is a true story. I’m not making this up; there is no joke in this.”

    Fast-forward to the new episode of the Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast, and 30 minutes into his conversation with Burr, he says, “I got something special that I planned for you,” at which point he brings out Corgan, who walks over and greets Burr, who says, “What’s up,” to Corgan, and, “You’re an asshole,” to Mandel.

    Mandel quips, “I thought you would be cool with me bringing the family together.” Burr then went on to chastise Corgan for letting the family secret out of the bag.

    Vice President Kamala Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff are heading back to California after the inauguration, a senior administration official confirmed Sunday. 

    Harris, the official said, will take time to decide her next move. She is expected to write books about her time in politics and her interest in food and cooking, according to multiple sources. 

    There have been discussions among her allies about a possible run for California’s open gubernatorial seat in 2026. Harris has yet to say whether she’ll run. 

    Emhoff, the first man to serve as second gentleman, will leave Washington and return to his legal career, sources told CBS News Sunday.

    Doug Emhoff had been a litigator and entertainment specialist in the firm DLA Piper’s Los Angeles office, but he severed ties with the firm when his wife was inaugurated four years ago. Now, sources tell CBS News, Emhoff will make a return to legal work, though with a different firm. The sources declined to identify the firm but said Emhoff is expected to divide time between the firm’s offices in New York and Los Angeles.

    A source with knowledge of Harris and Emhoff’s plans said they have been apartment hunting in Manhattan. The couple has a home in the Brentwood section of Los Angeles that will serve as their primary residence. The neighborhood is not far from the recent wildfires that devastated parts of L.A.  

    Emhoff has kept a low profile since Harris lost her bid for the presidency in November. Last week, he posted on social media an expression of gratitude for his time at Harris’s side in Washington: “Never did I imagine that this kid who grew up in New Jersey would one day be at the White House. It has been an incredible honor to serve as our nation’s first Second Gentleman,” he wrote.

    During his time in Washington, Emhoff held on to ties to his legal career, serving as a “Distinguished Visitor from Practice” at Georgetown Law School. The school said his instruction would draw on his “deep expertise in media and entertainment matters to teach related coursework.” That included teaching a class on “Entertainment Law Disputes” and helping with an entertainment and media law initiative.
