MIAMI, FLORIDA - DECEMBER 23: Cameron Johnson #2 of the Brooklyn Nets drives against Dru Smith #12 of the Miami Heat during the second quarter of the game at Kaseya Center on December 23, 2024 in Miami, Florida. The Brooklyn Nets (12-19) have been in the news lately for a variety of reasons, the most notable of which being that they will be unexpectedly shorthanded. Prior to Sunday’s game at the Orlando Magic (19-14), Brooklyn traded away Dorian Finney-Smith and Shake Milton to the Los Angeles Lakers, but two key members of the rotation will be available for the road contest.

The Nets announced that forward Cam Johnson and guard Cam Thomas are available for Sunday’s matchup at the Magic after both were out of the lineup for Friday’s 96-87 loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Granted, Johnson missed just one game with his right hip contusion while Thomas has missed the last 13 games with his left hamstring strain that he has been working his way back from ever since.

Due to the trade sending Finney-Smith and Milton to the Lakers, Brooklyn will have to find a way to replace Finney-Smith in the starting lineup given that he was the team’s power forward when he was healthy. For someone like Milton, who was a key guard coming off the bench, the Nets will have to look to someone else to step up in that capacity on Sunday since D’Angelo Russell won’t be playing for Brooklyn on Sunday.

In the meantime, the Nets will insert Johnson back into the starting lineup after his one-game absence, but Thomas will be coming off the bench, assuming that he ends up playing. Head coach Jordi Fernandez is not opposed to sitting someone when they were listed as available as he most recently did that with forward Noah Clowney in his first game back from a left ankle sprain.

The Buffalo Bills have fielded two Hall of Fame running backs during the franchise’s long and rich history. Yet it’s a quarterback who now sits in a tie for the franchise record for career touchdown runs.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen ran for his 65th career touchdown in Week 17, tying him for the franchise record with Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas. Thomas, the league’s MVP in 1991, helped the Bills become the first franchise to play in four consecutive Super Bowls from 1990-93.

Allen already made history on the ground this season, as he recently passed four Hall of Fame running backs (Terrell Davis, O.J. Simpson, Lenny Moore and Larry Csonka) on the career touchdown run list. The only quarterback with more career touchdown runs than Allen is Cam Newton, the 2015 league MVP ran for 75 scores during his 11-year career.

Last year, Allen and Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts tied each other for the single-season record for most touchdown runs in one season for a quarterback with 15. This season, Allen became the first quarterback in history with multiple years with at least 25 touchdown passes and 10 touchdown runs.

Allen has done all of this despite playing most of this season with a broken left hand. His play this season has led the Bills to a fifth consecutive AFC East division title. It may also lead to the 28-year-old’s first league MVP. Allen is in a close race for that award with Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson, who is in pursuit of his third MVP trophy.

In a thrilling Week 17 matchup against the New York Jets, Buffalo Bills’ quarterback Josh Allen made history by tying Thurman Thomas’ franchise rushing touchdown record. Allen’s impressive performance on the ground helped lead the Bills to a crucial victory as they clinched a playoff spot.

Allen’s ability to make plays with his legs has been a key component of his success throughout the season, and his performance against the Jets was no exception. With his rushing touchdown in the game, Allen now has 19 career rushing touchdowns, tying him with Bills legend Thurman Thomas for the most in franchise history.

As Allen continues to establish himself as one of the most dynamic quarterbacks in the league, his ability to contribute in the running game sets him apart from his peers. His record-tying performance against the Jets was just another example of his impact on the field and his importance to the Bills’ success.

With the playoffs on the horizon, Allen’s versatility and playmaking ability will be crucial for the Bills as they look to make a deep postseason run. Congratulations to Josh Allen on this historic achievement and here’s to many more memorable moments to come. #GoBills #JoshAllen #ThurmanThomas #PlayoffsBound

The Brooklyn Nets (12-19) have been dealing with injuries all season and recently, it seems like the injuries have been too much for them to overcome to continue winning games. In Friday’s 96-87 loss to the San Antonio Spurs, Brooklyn missed a lot of players in its rotation, but it looks like a few of those players are likely to be back in the lineup.

The Nets announced on Saturday that forward Cam Johnson and guard Cam Thomas are probable for Sunday’s game at the Orlando Magic. Johnson missed Friday’s loss due to a right hip contusion that he picked up in a loss at the Milwaukee Bucks and Thomas has missed the past 13 games for the Nets due to a left hamstring strain that he sustained in a win at the Golden State Warriors.

Johnson and Thomas being listed as probable is good for a variety of reasons, mostly due to the fact that both players are key members of the rotation and are two of the best scorers on the team. Johnson is in the midst of the best season of his career as he is averaging 19.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game while shooting 49.2% from the field and 42.9% from three-point land.

Thomas, who is averaging 24.7 points per game, is the team’s leading scorer and is also having the best season of his career after coming into this year as the primary scorer for a rebuilding Nets team. If Thomas is able to return, Brooklyn will be more than grateful for his presence, especially in the absence of Dennis Schroder and with players like Ziaire Williams and Trendon Watford still out of action.

The good news for the Nets is that Ben Simmons will be returning to the lineup as well after missing Friday’s loss to the Spurs due to his lower back injury management program. In the five games that Simmons has played since Schroder was traded to the Golden State Warriors, the former LSU Tiger is averaging 9.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 8.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 50.0% from the field.

The Brooklyn Nets’ Cam Thomas and Cam Johnson are both listed as probable for Sunday’s game against the Orlando Magic. Thomas, the rookie guard, has been dealing with a sprained ankle but is expected to suit up for the game. Johnson, the forward acquired in a trade with the Phoenix Suns, is also likely to play despite a minor knee issue. Both players have been key contributors off the bench for the Nets this season and their availability will provide a boost to the team’s depth. Stay tuned for updates on their status as game time approaches.

Cam Thomas, the promising rookie guard for the Brooklyn Nets, has been making strides in his recovery from a hamstring injury. After being sidelined for several weeks, Thomas has progressed to participating in 5-on-5 drills during practice.

This is certainly encouraging news for the Nets, as Thomas has shown flashes of his scoring ability and playmaking skills in the limited action he has seen so far this season. The team is hopeful that he will be able to return to game action soon and contribute to their success on the court.

Fans of the Nets will be eagerly anticipating Thomas’ return, as he has the potential to be a key contributor off the bench for the team. Keep an eye out for updates on his status and potential return date, as he continues to work his way back to full health.

  • Nets offense to get boost with expected return of Cam Thomas

Nets offense to get boost with expected return of Cam Thomas

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Nets have had one of the NBA’s worst attacks ever since they lost Cam Thomas.

But they’re on the brink of getting back their leading scorer.

And they hope they’ll get their missing offense back with him.

Thomas was listed as probable for Sunday’s game against the Magic.

The young shooting guard has missed the past 13 games with a left hamstring strain.

Brooklyn was just 4-9 in those games, so his return can’t come a moment too soon for the struggling Nets.

“It’ll be nice when we get Cam Thomas back just to have some … a real half-court bucket, half-court scorer,” center Nic Claxton said recently of getting Thomas back. “That’ll be good. We’re missing him right now a lot.”

Thomas has indeed been a bucket, averaging a team-high 24.7 points on impressive .461/.389/.866 shooting splits, all but the last representing career highs.

And to say Brooklyn has missed him is a gross understatement.

Despite most sportsbooks having projected the Nets to finish with the second-worst record in the league, they came out of the gates surprisingly well based on a better than expected attack.

They were 8-10 after a win at then-Western Conference leading Golden State, and had the league’s eighth-best Offensive Rating (115.0).

But Thomas got hurt in that victory over the Warriors, and since then Brooklyn has had the 29th-ranked Offensive Rating, or second-worst at 105.5.

Without point guard Dennis Schroder to run the pick-and-roll, Brooklyn has been almost completely reliant on Ben Simmons getting them going in transition.

When they haven’t been able to get easy buckets in transition or early offense, they’ve sputtered to score in the half-court.

They don’t have players who can self-create.

Even though small forward Cam Johnson — who missed Friday’s loss to San Antonio with a right hip contusion, and is listed as probable against the Magic — has shown a newfound ability to do so, it’s not his strength.

But it is — and always has been — Thomas’.

His 1.24 points per possession in isolation is the best in the league (among players averaging at least two isos over 15 games).

The august company right behind Thomas — Jayson Tatum’s 1.18, Kevin Durant’s 1.14 and Kyrie Irving’s 1.13 — should show just how prolific he’s become.

And just how important to a team that was already talent-starved.

Thomas hasn’t played since before Thanksgiving, and Brooklyn’s offense promptly cratered as soon as he left the lineup.

“Obviously it’s different for everybody. You’ve got a lot of people in the spots, but our offense is different now, so we’ve all just got to adjust. It’s part of the game. We’re professionals. So it’s not easy. It’s definitely a challenge,” Claxton said. “But we’ll get there. And then, like I said, when we get [Thomas] back, that’ll help.”

With Thomas listed as probable, that could be as soon as Sunday against the Magic.

The Brooklyn Nets offense is set to receive a major boost with the expected return of rookie guard Cam Thomas. Thomas, who has been sidelined with an ankle injury, is known for his scoring ability and has quickly become a key contributor off the bench for the Nets.

With Thomas back in the lineup, the Nets will have another dynamic scoring threat to compliment their star duo of Kevin Durant and James Harden. Thomas has shown a knack for getting buckets in a variety of ways, whether it be driving to the hoop, knocking down threes, or drawing fouls and getting to the free throw line.

His return will provide the Nets with added depth and firepower on the offensive end, giving them even more options to exploit opposing defenses. Thomas’ ability to create his own shot and put pressure on defenses will open up opportunities for his teammates and help take some of the scoring load off Durant and Harden.

Overall, the return of Cam Thomas is sure to give the Nets offense a much-needed boost and make them an even more dangerous team to contend with in the Eastern Conference. Look out for Thomas to make a big impact and help propel the Nets to even greater success as the season progresses.
