Jason Aldean’s music, political stances intertwine
Aldean’s tour announcement follows an hour-long Monday evening performance during Donald J. Trump’s Liberty Ball inauguration festivities at downtown Washington’s Walter J. Washington Convention Center.
“I’ve done a lot of things in my career, a lot of things I never thought I would do, but playing for the inauguration for one of our presidents is something that I’ve never done. It’s a special day for me; I’m honored to be here. This is a different world for me a little bit,” added the “She’s Country” vocalist to CBS Mornings.
Over the past decade, noted political conservative Aldean has supported Trump’s evolution from an entrepreneur, real estate mogul and television personality into a presidential election-winning politician.

“At some point, it’s gotten to where if you’re a conservative and you’re in this business, you’re not allowed to speak,” he noted. “It’s hard to go lay my head down at night with a clear conscience, feeling like I’m a coward for not saying the things that I want to say or I feel like need to be said,” offered Aldean in a 2021 interview.
‘Try That In A Small Town’
After nearly two decades in Music City, Georgia native Aldean’s 2023-released chart-topper “Try That In A Small Town,” which finally broke him to crossover superstardom.
The song crystallized a growing desire among many for conservative, Libertarian and rural-friendly values concerning America’s present and future to be more reflected in Americana and country music.
Aldean received online backlash for the song and music video, which were perceived as portraying a pro-gun violence stance and lynching sentiments. The performer called those references “meritless and dangerous.”
