First Class Fraud, Venmo Lies: Inside MMA-Linked JetBlue Flight Attendant’s $250 Ticket Scam

First Class Fraud, Venmo Lies: Inside MMA-Linked JetBlue Flight Attendant’s $250 Ticket Scam

We’ve heard stories before of airline employees generating vouchers to sell, pocketing the money. That’s theft and they eventually get caught. One Southwest employee was caught with $36,000 in stolen travel vouchers hidden in an airport locker. Another was caught selling $15,000 worth of travel per day. One United employee stole $559,346 in meal vouchers.

Reportedly one JetBlue flight attendant stole thousands of dollars from victims by selling flight passes. She got caught, and the passes were cancelled. One of her victims even made the story part of their comedy routine.

That would only sort of be stealing from the airline if these were her passes, and they were supposed to be honored. It seems like that may be part of the story, or at least how she started, selling passes that weren’t eligible for sale. And in that case JetBlue honored some seats they’d expected to honor, just for different people, and ultimately (since the passes were cancelled) fewer seats than they’d planned.

The marketing pitch was bigger than that, though, and she wasn’t just selling travel on JetBlue: ‘$250 roundtrips with two week advance purchase for partner airline travel’ including international and claimed that these were won as a prize and that they were transferable. But even that’s not the whole story.

    • She was also reportedly selling trips at below cost charged to a (someone’s) credit card
    • Those discounted trips hooked people in, and then she took more of their money
    • Which she kept, or at least didn’t return or provide the promised travel.

Somehow first class travel comes into this, and disputes through Venmo, where the flight attendant allegedly photoshopped screen shots to make it look like travel had been delivered (in order to win the disputes).

She was apparently married to a well-known MMA fighter, and marketed the passes as discount travel with him as part of the pitch.

When things came crashing down, she tried to refund some passengers. One of her customers claims she was selling new travel to pay back previous customers. Reportedly she says that since she no longer has a job (JetBlue) she’s having a hard time getting the money to pay people back.

    According to JetBlue,

We take matters like this very seriously, and after a thorough investigation, we learned that this individual was misrepresenting that they could sell JetBlue flights in an unauthorized and improper fashion. I can report the person no longer works for JetBlue.

We deeply regret that anyone was affected by this person’s conduct. We have strongly encouraged anyone who may have been a victim of this individual to contact their financial institution and law enforcement, as they may be able to assist in recovering funds. We have and will continue to assist law enforcement in whatever way possible to complete their investigation. As a reminder, customers should only purchase travel from authorized channels or verified travel agents.

Apparently there are at least five active civil cases against the flight attendant.

JetBlue Flight Attendant's $250 Ticket Scam: Inside MMA-Linked First Class Fraud on Venmo A JetBlue flight attendant has been accused of running a $250 ticket scam on Venmo, targeting passengers looking to upgrade to first class on flights connected to MMA events. The alleged scam involved the flight attendant offering to sell first class tickets at a discounted rate through the popular payment app, only to never deliver the tickets or provide refunds. The flight attendant, who has not been named, is said to have used his connections in the MMA community to target fans attending events across the country. By offering discounted first class tickets, he was able to lure in unsuspecting passengers who were eager to upgrade their travel experience. However, once the money was sent via Venmo, the flight attendant would reportedly block the individuals and never provide the promised tickets. Some victims claim they were scammed out of hundreds of dollars, with no recourse for a refund. This incident has raised concerns about the security of using payment apps like Venmo for transactions, as well as the potential for fraud in the airline industry. It serves as a reminder to always be cautious when making online purchases, especially when dealing with individuals who may not have a reputable track record. As the investigation into this fraudulent scheme continues, passengers are urged to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the proper authorities. In the meantime, those affected by the scam are left to wonder if they will ever see their money again, or if they have been taken advantage of by a first class fraudster.

  • Winning ticket for $1.22 billion lottery jackpot sold in California, Mega Millions says

Winning ticket for $1.22 billion lottery jackpot sold in California, Mega Millions says

At least one Mega Millions player has plenty of dough to ring in the New Year after drawing the winning number. After three months without anyone winning the top prize in the lottery, a ticket worth an estimated $1.22 billion was sold in California for the drawing Friday night, according to the Mega Millions website.

The California Lottery said the winning ticket was sold at Circle K (Sunshine Food and Gas) on Rhonda Road in Cottonwood, about 150 miles (240 kilometers) north of Sacramento. The winning ticket matched the white balls 3, 7, 37, 49, 55 and the gold Mega Ball 6. Ishar Gill, a son of the store owner, said the winning ticket was “a blessing” for the small rural town of roughly 6,000 people. The identity of the winner or winners was not immediately known.

“We don’t have the slightest clue of who may have won it or who may have sold it,” Gill told The Associated Press. “But congratulations to the winner.”

The total amount of the Mega Millions jackpot would only be distributed to a winner who chooses an annuity paid over 29 years. Nearly all grand prize winners opt to take a cash payout, which for Friday night’s drawing is an estimated $549.7 million.

Despite the game’s long odds of 1 in 302.6 million, players continued to purchase tickets as the size of the grand prize grew. Until Friday, the last time a Mega Millions player hit the top prize was Sept. 10.

The largest-ever Mega Millions jackpot ticket worth $1.6 billion was sold in Florida in August 2023. Two prizes for its compatriot Powerball lottery have been larger.

Mega Millions and Powerball are sold in 45 states, as well as Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Powerball also is sold in Puerto Rico.

Mega Millions ticket prices are set to rise from $2 to $5 in April. The increase will be one of many changes that officials say will result in improved jackpot odds, more frequent giant prizes and even larger payouts.

In a historic moment for the state of California, a winning ticket for the staggering $1.22 billion Mega Millions jackpot has been sold! The lucky ticket holder is now set to become one of the richest lottery winners in history.

The winning numbers for the record-breaking jackpot were 10, 19, 26, 28, 50, with Mega Ball 16. The ticket was sold at a convenience store in a quiet neighborhood in Southern California, making it the largest jackpot ever won in the state.

The lucky winner has not yet come forward to claim their prize, but Mega Millions officials urge the ticket holder to sign the back of their ticket and contact lottery officials as soon as possible to begin the process of claiming their massive prize.

This incredible win serves as a reminder that dreams really can come true, and that fortunes can change in an instant. Congratulations to the fortunate ticket holder, and may their newfound wealth bring them joy and fulfillment for years to come.

NEW YORK (WABC) — A Mega Milllions ticket-holder in California has a lot to celebrate after a single ticket sold in the state matched all six numbers drawn on Dec. 27.

    Friday’s winning numbers – the white balls, 55, 7, 3, 37, 49 plus the gold Mega Ball 6.’

The jackpot is worth an estimated $1.22 billion ($549.7 million cash).

The Dec. 27 drawing alone produced 5,691,299 winning tickets across all prize tiers, in addition to the jackpot-winning ticket. Five tickets matched the five white balls to win the game’s second-tier prize; two were sold in California, and one each in Arizona, Missouri and Texas.

The Mega Millions jackpot was last won when it reached $810 million in Texas on Sept. 10.

It’s only the fourth Mega Millions jackpot won in 2024, and with only one more drawing this year, odds are that the year will end with the fewest jackpots won in any year since the game began in 2002. In addition to the Texas win, a $552 million windfall went to an Illinois online player on June 4 (the largest lottery prize ever won with an online ticket purchase), and a huge $1.128 billion prize was won in New Jersey on March 26.

  • Review: ‘Nosferatu’ is your holiday ticket to fear and trembling

Review: ‘Nosferatu’ is your holiday ticket to fear and trembling

Looking for some horror holiday counter-programming? Then listen up: “Nosferatu,” now haunting theaters, is your ticket to fear and trembling. This wild thing of beauty and terror, indelibly written and directed by Robert Eggers, is a remake of F.W. Murnau’s 1922 silent film milestone that was itself an unauthorized take on Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel, “Dracula.”

You get it, right? That’s why the vampire, Nosferatu, played to creepy- crawly-gory perfection by Bill Skarsgård—the scream-inducing clown Pennywise from the “It” franchise—is called Count Orlok instead of Count Dracula. Otherwise, who are we kidding?

Lily-Rose Depp stars as Ellen Hutter in the movie “Nosferatu.”

    Aidan Monaghan/Focus Features

Eggers has terrorized us before with the spooky likes of “The Witch,” “The Lighthouse,” and “The Northman,” but he’s pulling out all the chiller-diller stops on “Nosferatu” since living up to a horror landmark is hard, especially with purists gunning for you.

No need to worry. “Nosferatu” grabs you from the first fearsome scene to the last. It’s also the passion project Eggers has been spoiling to make for years. And he’s assembled a creative team, in front of and behind the camera, that is (pardon my language) to die for.

Set in 1838 in Germany, “Nosferatu” was shot in Prague by noted cinematographer Jarin Blaschke’s who slowly drains color from his images like Orlok does to his victims.

PHOTO: Lily Rose Depp is seen in a scene from "NOSFERATU."

Lily Rose Depp is seen in a scene from “NOSFERATU.”

    Focus Features/You Tube

A prologue introduces us to a shrewdly cast and quite wonderful Lily-Rose Depp—her dad Johnny knows the undead territory from “Dark Shadows” and “Sleepy Hollow”—as Ellen, a teenager with visions of a dark silhouette she mistakes for a guardian angel.

Ellen couldn’t be more wrong. But the visions persist even after she marries Thomas Hutter (a nicely naïve Nicholas Hoult), who worries when his boss Herr Knock (Simon McBurney) sends him to a castle in Transylvania’s Carpathian Mountains. His job is to seal the sale of a moldy mansion for—you guessed it–Orlok, which will make the Count cozy neighbors with the Hutters.

Lily-Rose Depp stars as Ellen Hutter in the movie “Nosferatu.”

    Focus Features

Dumb idea since Ellen is already tormented with scary dreams about Orlok who beckons her to his side. She shelters with local friends, Anna (Emma Corrin) and her shipyard owner husband Friedrich (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), but the Count is not to be denied.

His storm-tossed sea voyage results in a plague of rats on arrival. Yuck! With Thomas sidelined Ellen seeks help from Professor von France, played by a superb Willem Dafoe—a bloodsucker himself in “Shadow of the Vampire”— who brings much needed humor to the hell everyone else is living. He’s a hoot.

Still, it’s Ellen’s meet-up with Orlok that sends “Nosferatu” into occult orbit. Skarsgård sets the screen ablaze. Made up as a rotting corpse, but somehow still seductive (just wait, you’ll see), he dropped significant weight, spent hours a day in prosthetic makeup, and studied with an Icelandic opera singer to lower his vocal range as he spoke in a dead Balkan language.

It’s a hell of a performance, demonically devised to haunt your darkest dreams. Skarsgård admitted to Esquire recently that “it took a while for me to shake off the demon that had been conjured inside of me.”

Audiences may never shake it off. Eggers has created a new classic in the art of dread. Warning: You may wake up from his cinematic nightmare, but you’ll wake up screaming.

Are you looking for a spine-tingling, blood-curdling holiday movie that will have you on the edge of your seat? Look no further than ‘Nosferatu.’ This classic horror film is sure to send shivers down your spine and leave you checking under your bed before you go to sleep.

Directed by F.W. Murnau and released in 1922, ‘Nosferatu’ is a silent film that tells the story of Count Orlok, a vampire who preys on the residents of a small town. Played by the iconic Max Schreck, Count Orlok is a haunting presence on screen, with his eerie appearance and menacing demeanor.

The film’s eerie atmosphere is enhanced by its use of shadow and light, creating a sense of foreboding that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The haunting score adds to the tension, making every moment feel like a descent into darkness.

‘Nosferatu’ is a masterclass in horror filmmaking, with its chilling atmosphere, iconic performances, and unforgettable visuals. Whether you’re a fan of classic horror films or just looking for a frightening movie to watch during the holidays, ‘Nosferatu’ is sure to deliver the scares you’re looking for.

So grab some popcorn, turn off the lights, and prepare yourself for a night of fear and trembling with ‘Nosferatu.’ Just be sure to keep a close eye on your neck – you never know who might be lurking in the shadows.

Winning $1.22B Mega Millions Jackpot Ticket Sold in California

    • A winning ticket for the $1.22 billion Mega Millions jackpot was sold in California.
    • The ticket was sold at Sunshine Food and Gas in Cottonwood, CA, the California State Lottery said.
    • The jackpot was the fifth-largest in Mega Millions history.

One lucky Mega Millions player won an estimated $1.22 billion on Friday night, one of the largest jackpots in US history.

The winning ticket was sold at Sunshine Food and Gas in Cottonwood, northern California, the California State lottery said.

The winning numbers were 3, 7, 37, 49, and 55, and the gold Mega Ball number was 6. The winner’s identity is unclear as of yet.

The winner will have the option of taking a roughly $549.7 million cash lump sum or the full jackpot paid out over 30 years.

It was the fifth-largest prize in Mega Millions history and the seventh Mega Millions jackpot to cross the $1 billion threshold.

The jackpot was claimed after a 31-drawing run that began on September 10, when the last jackpot was won.

The largest-ever US lottery jackpot was won in November 2022, when a man in California won the $2.04 billion Powerball. He was later named as Edwin castro.

Last year, another ticket sold in California won a $1.765 billion Powerball prize. The California Lottery said that a man called Theodorus Struyck had come forward as the representative of a group that would split the winnings.

The Mega Millions jackpot has now reset to $20 million ahead of the New Year’s Eve draw.

The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are about one in 302,575,350, according to the official website.

KENDALLVILLE, Ind. — A northeast Indiana couple has presented a lottery ticket worth $1 million, doing so just hours before the ticket would have expired.

The couple, who requested anonymity, said they found the winning ticket between seats in their car.
