  • Timberwolves swap Julius Randle for Bulls’ $80 million guard in proposed blockbuster trade

Timberwolves swap Julius Randle for Bulls’ $80 million guard in proposed blockbuster trade

With a little over a month left until the NBA trade deadline, the Minnesota Timberwolves could be one of the most active teams on the market.

Fast forward from trading Karl-Anthony Towns to the New York Knicks prior to the regular season, and today he finds himself top three in the Eastern Conference in frontcourt All-Star votes. Meanwhile, Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo are still trying to find their roles with the Wolves.

Due to both players struggling in Minnesota, it has caused some wrinkles in the team’s chemistry. In addition to their chemistry woes, the team has found themselves amid regret and trade rumors for the past couple of months.

There will be plenty of other teams that will also be making a push for the playoffs. As disappointing as this season has been compared to last, a move is needed to help right the ship. A proposed trade would send Randle to the Chicago Bulls for guard Lonzo Ball and forward Jalen Smith

This is a trade that gives Randle a fresh start on a team where he would be the top option offensively. For once in his career, he would be the star on a team. It would be interesting to see how he would perform.

In addition to that, it also gives Ball a fresh start now that he is back from injury. Because he appears healthy, a new chapter on a much more talented team could benefit him and take some pressure off. He is a great distributing point guard and could help move the ball and get more players involved in Minnesota. Also, he is one of the best point guards in the league on the fast break

Smith would add more versatility to their frontcourt. His contract is a little more than the Wolves would probably like to take on, but he is another forward that is capable of contributing in the paint.

Overall, this trade helps both teams. It also gives two players in Randle and Ball a fresh start in two very different ways. It’s a transaction that has a high risk, but an even higher reward for both teams.

The Minnesota Timberwolves and Chicago Bulls are reportedly in talks for a potential blockbuster trade that would see Julius Randle heading to the Windy City in exchange for the Bulls’ $80 million guard.

Randle, who is currently playing for the New York Knicks, has been a standout player this season and would bring a strong presence in the frontcourt for the Bulls. On the other hand, the Timberwolves are looking to add some scoring punch to their lineup and the Bulls’ guard fits the bill.

While the deal is still in the negotiation stages, fans of both teams are buzzing with excitement at the prospect of this trade going through. Stay tuned for more updates as the situation develops.

  • Celtics injury report: Jaylen Brown added for Timberwolves game

Celtics injury report: Jaylen Brown added for Timberwolves game

The Celtics enter 2025 by immediately having a tough four-game road trip featuring West playoff teams. It starts with a 7:30 p.m. Thursday game against the Timberwolves, who made the West Finals last season.

The C’s will be looking to get healthy as two starters are listed on the injury report. Jaylen Brown (right shoulder strain) and Kristaps Porzingis (left ankle sprain) are both listed as questionable.

Brown is a relatively surprise addition considering he hasn’t been on the injury report recently. His status will now be monitored heading into game at Minnesota. Brown played 25 minutes in the win over the Raptors as the C’s emptied their bench early in the 54-point victory.

Porzingis has missed the past three games due to the ankle sprain he suffered against the 76ers on Christmas Day. He’s been questionable ahead of the past three games before being downgraded to out. Porzingis has gotten some work done pregame, though it’s unclear when he’ll be back.

Notably, Jrue Holiday is no longer on the injury report after playing in the Raptors win. He dealt with a shoulder issue that could linger, but it’s a positive sign that he’s no longer on the injury report.

The C’s have a tough stretch coming up throughout January that features 10 out of 16 games on the road against some worthy foes. They start off the month with a game against the Timberwolves, who are going to want revenge after losing to the C’s in Boston back Nov. 24.

The Timberwolves, though, have struggled this season after making a big trade right before the start of the season. They moved Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks while bringing back Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo. But the fit has been awkward as the Wolves are 17-15.

The Celtics are looking to clean up their own play. Before the Raptors win, they had lost four of their last six games amid some struggles. The blowout win over Toronto is a good sign, but the C’s will be tested in the coming weeks.

The Boston Celtics have added Jaylen Brown to their injury report ahead of their game against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Brown is listed as questionable with a hamstring injury, joining teammates Marcus Smart and Robert Williams III on the injured list.

This news comes as a blow to the Celtics, as Brown has been a key contributor for the team this season, averaging 24.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. His absence will be sorely felt, especially against a tough Timberwolves team.

The Celtics will need to rely on their depth and resilience to overcome these injuries and come out with a win. Stay tuned for updates on Brown’s status and how it will impact the team’s performance in the upcoming game.

  • Boston May Face Timberwolves Down Two Stars

Boston May Face Timberwolves Down Two Stars

Ahead of Thursday night’s matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Boston Celtics could be without a pair of ailing starters.

Per the NBA’s most recent injury report, three-time Celtics All-Star small forward Jaylen Brown and one-time All-Star Boston center Kristaps Porzingis are both considered questionable to suit up.

Brown is dealing with a strained right shoulder. The 6-foot-6 wing out of the University of California at Berkeley was seen with several ice packs strapped to his shoulder at the end of Boston’s masterful 125-71 blowout victory over the lowly Toronto Raptors on New Year’s Eve.

In that game, Brown had to play just 25 minutes, scoring 12 points on 6-of-13 shooting from the floor, grabbing nine rebounds, dishing out three assists, and swiping one steal. On the year, Brown is averaging 24.4 points while slashing .461/.332/.734 shooting splits, 6.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.4 steals in 28 healthy games.

Porzingis has been struggling with a left ankle sprain since his team’s 118-114 Christmas Day defeat to the Philadelphia 76ers.

The 7-foot-2 big man has been healthy for just 11 games this season, but in those contests has looked like his typical two-way self. Porzingis is averaging 18.3 points on .453/.328/.849 shooting splits, 6.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.5 blocks and 0.7 blocks a night.

Two-way Celtics players JD Davison and Anton Watson are on assignment with Boston’s G League affiliate, the Maine Celtics, as is rookie guard Baylor Scheierman.

For the Timberwolves, rookie lottery pick Rob Dillingham is sidelined with a right ankle sprain and veteran big man Luka Garza remains on the shelf with a sprained left ankle. Two-way players Jaylen Clark and Jesse Edwards are away from the team, working with the club’s NBAGL squad, the Iowa Wolves.

The two clubs, who both made the league’s final four last season (Minnesota was eliminated from the Western Conference by the Dallas Mavericks, while Boston beat Dallas in the NBA Finals), took wildly different approaches to their respective offseasons. The Celtics brought back all of their important players, while the Timberwolves traded away a pricey All-Star, power forward/center Karl-Anthony Towns, in exchange for cheaper ex-New York Knicks All-Star power forward Julius Randle and shooting guard Donte DiVincenzo. Boston has thrived in its title defense so far, going 24-9 on the year and earning the East’s No. 2 overall seed so far. Minnesota, meanwhile, is just 17-15 in the loaded West, good for just the No. 8 seed.

The action tips off at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Target Center.

More Celtics: Surprise Guard Among Top Eastern Conference All-Star Voting Honorees

The Boston Celtics may have a tough matchup on their hands as they face the Minnesota Timberwolves without two of their key players. Star forward Jayson Tatum and veteran point guard Marcus Smart are both dealing with injuries that could sideline them for the upcoming game.

Tatum, who has been a dominant force for the Celtics this season, is nursing a knee injury that has kept him out of the lineup for several games. Smart, known for his defensive prowess and leadership on the court, is dealing with a hamstring issue that could also keep him sidelined.

This leaves the Celtics with a depleted roster as they prepare to take on the Timberwolves, who have been playing solid basketball as of late. Without Tatum and Smart, the Celtics will need other players to step up and fill the void left by their absence.

It will be a challenging test for the Celtics as they look to secure a win against a tough Timberwolves team. Fans will have to wait and see how the team adjusts to playing without two of their key players, and if they can come out on top in this matchup.

Timberwolves vs Thunder Prediction, Picks, and Odds for Tonight’s NBA Game

It’s well-established by now that OKC’s Achilles’ Heel is its work on the boards. Rudy Gobert’s rebounding prop is set way too low, so Zak Hanshew’s NBA betting picks will take the Over with glee.

Northwest Division rivals meet at Paycom Center on New Year’s Eve as the Thunder welcome the visiting Timberwolves with each team looking to extend its current win streak.

My Timberwolves vs. Thunder predictions expect Rudy Gobert to have a strong night on the glass against a vulnerable Thunder interior defense. Read my NBA picks to see why you should take the Over on Gobert’s rebound line on Tuesday, December 31.

    Timberwolves vs Thunder prediction

    My best bet
Rudy Gobert Over 9.5 rebounds (-135 at bet365)

    My analysis

Rudy Gobert’s 10.7 boards are tied for his fewest per game since the 2014-15 campaign, but this line is still set just a bit too low.

He’s grabbed at least 10 rebounds in 19 of 31 games played for the Minnesota Timberwolves this season. He’s corralled at least nine boards in 24 of 31 games overall and 14 of 16 away from Target Center. Gobert has averaged 11.5 rebounds per game against Northwest Division opponents.

Gobert averaged 14.3 rebounds per game in four matchups with the Oklahoma City Thunder last season, hitting the Over in all three of the games in which he logged at least 30 minutes. In 25 games played with at least 30 minutes this season, he’s hauled in 10 or more boards 18 times. He should be expected to see at least that many minutes tonight in what figures to be a close game.

Since joining the Timberwolves ahead of the 2022-23 campaign, Gobert has logged 128 games with 10 or more rebounds, good for third-most in the Association.

The Thunder have allowed the second-most rebounds to opponents this season, including the second-most at home. The team sports one of the smallest lineups in the Association, and with Chet Holmgren sidelined, center depth is nearly non-existent behind Isaiah Hartenstein.

OKC has been routinely cooked on the glass this season. Over their last five games, the Thunder have allowed John Konchar to grab 15 rebounds, Mark Williams and Miles Bridges to grab 10 apiece, Pascal Siakam to pull down 10, Myles Turner to get 11, Jonas Valanciunas to finish with 16, Bam Adebayo 10, and Tyler Herro 12.

The rebound totals were all season-bests for Konchar, Turner, Valanciunas, and Herro. In three of those five games, two players recorded 10 or more boards. This is a phenomenal matchup for Minnesota’s leading rebounder, so I’m hammering the Over on this modest line.

    Timberwolves vs Thunder same-game parlay

    Rudy Gobert Over 9.5 rebounds

Isaiah Hartenstein Over 27.5 points + rebounds + assists

    Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Over 29.5 points

I’ll continue to bet Isaiah Hartenstein combo props until they rise to his superb level of play.

The big man has played incredibly since arriving in Oklahoma City, averaging career highs across the board with 12.6 points, 12.6 rebounds, and 3.8 assists across 30 minutes per game. He’s hit the Over on this line in 11 of 16 games overall, including three of six at home.

On the season, the Wolves have allowed opposing centers to score the 11th-most points (23.1) and fifth-fewest rebounds (13.8). Over the last seven, however, Minnesota has allowed the most points to opposing centers (29.6) and the sixth-most rebounds (17.1).

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is the king of 30-point games. He’s averaging 31 this season, and he averaged better than 30 points in each of his last two dating back to 2022-23. In that span, Gilgeous-Alexander has tallied 113 30-point games, which is the most in the Association.

The Over/Under line on his points is set at 31.5 tonight for -105 odds, but I’m happy to take that down to -150 for 29.5 points and add this to our three-leg parlay for additional insurance. Dating back to the 2020-21 season, SGA has averaged 30.3 points in six home games with the Wolves, hitting the Over five times. He’s hit the Over in seven of his last eight, and I’m confident he’ll get there again tonight.

New Year’s Eve Showdown: Wolves vs. Thunder – A Litmus Test for Minnesota’s 2025 Aspirations

Here we are, Minnesota Timberwolves Nation, standing at the crossroads of what could be a defining moment for the Timberwolves’ season and their future in 2025. It’s New Year’s Eve, and while the rest of the world is prepping for champagne toasts and poorly sung renditions of Auld Lang Syne, the Wolves have a date with the Oklahoma City Thunder. This isn’t just a regular game—it’s a litmus test, a measuring stick, a chance to see how this team stacks up against the cream of the Western Conference.

Let’s be real: when the season began, we expected this matchup to be a battle for Western Conference supremacy. Instead, it’s been a tale of two teams. The Thunder have been the NBA’s darlings, boasting a 26-5 record and a roster that seems allergic to losing. Meanwhile, the Wolves have been… complicated. They’ve shown flashes of brilliance, punctuated by stretches of basketball so maddeningly inconsistent that they could make even the most loyal fans question their life choices.

But here’s the thing: as frustrating as the Wolves have been, they’re heading into this game riding a three-game winning streak. Sure, those wins against Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio felt like they were pulled from a Hallmark holiday script—heart-stopping drama with miraculous finishes—but wins are wins. And now, they face their toughest test yet: a Thunder team that’s won 15 of its last 16 games and looks like the Avengers on a basketball court.

    Keys to the Game

    1. Consistency, Consistency, Consistency

This is where the Wolves’ Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde routine needs to end. In each of their last three games, the Wolves have endured stretches of offensive droughts so painful that they could be used as evidence in a basketball court trial. Against the Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets, and San Antonio Spurs, they were able to rally and pull off wins, but OKC is not the type of team you can fall behind against. If the Wolves want to hang with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Co., they need 48 minutes of focused, mistake-free basketball. No six-minute scoring droughts. No lazy turnovers. No lapses on defense.

    2. Defense Wins Games

Oklahoma City has scored 100+ points in 18 of their last 19 games. The Wolves have the size and talent to disrupt that trend—Rudy Gobert, Julius Randle, and Naz Reid can dominate the paint, while Jaden McDaniels, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, and Anthony Edwards have the defensive chops to pester OKC’s backcourt. The goal is simple: make life difficult for SGA and force someone else to beat you.

And while we’re at it, can we talk about rebounding? The Wolves need to crash the boards like it’s a Black Friday sale at Best Buy. Limit second-chance points, and don’t give the Thunder any easy buckets.

    3. Smart Offense

This is not the time for hero ball. The Wolves’ offense needs to hum like a well-oiled machine. That means ball movement, quick decisions, and taking advantage of mismatches. Anthony Edwards has the talent to take over a game, but he’ll need help. Julius Randle’s bully-ball approach can work against OKC’s smaller lineup, but it needs to be paired with smart kick-outs to open shooters like Donte DiVincenzo and NAW.

Most importantly, Chris Finch needs to be proactive with his lineups. If something’s not working, he can’t wait for the wheels to fall off before making adjustments.

    What’s at Stake?

The Western Conference standings are tighter than a pair of skinny jeans after Thanksgiving dinner. The Wolves are currently holding down the eight spot, but they’re just four games out of the No. 2 seed. That’s incredible when you consider how many games they’ve thrown away this season with uninspired play. A win in OKC would be a huge statement—not just to the league, but to themselves.

And let’s not forget the bigger picture. If the Wolves have any hope of making a deep playoff run, they’re going to have to go through teams like the Thunder. This game is more than just a New Year’s Eve showdown; it’s a preview of what lies ahead.

    Final Thoughts

This game feels like one of those moments that could define the Wolves’ season. Beat the Thunder, and you’re heading into 2025 with momentum, confidence, and the belief that you can hang with the league’s elite. Lose, and it’s another reminder that this team is still a work in progress.

Either way, Wolves fans, let’s savor the moment. This has been the best calendar year in franchise history, regardless of what happens on New Year’s Eve. That’s something to celebrate considering all the hard times this fanbase has had to endure.

Happy New Year, everyone. Here’s to a 2025 filled with fewer offensive droughts, more clutch plays, and maybe—just maybe—a deep playoff run.

On December 31st, the Minnesota Timberwolves will face off against the Oklahoma City Thunder in what promises to be an exciting matchup. Both teams are looking to end the year on a high note and secure a much-needed win.

One of the most anticipated aspects of this game is the battle between two young stars: Anthony Edwards of the Timberwolves and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of the Thunder. Edwards, the 2020 #1 overall draft pick, has been making a name for himself with his explosive scoring and highlight-reel dunks. On the other hand, Gilgeous-Alexander has been leading the Thunder with his smooth ball-handling and scoring prowess.

Fans can expect a high-scoring affair as these two dynamic guards go head-to-head. Both teams will be looking to rely on their young talent to carry them to victory and set the tone for the new year.

So mark your calendars for this exciting New Year’s Eve showdown between the Timberwolves and Thunder, as Ant and Shai battle it out on the court in what is sure to be a thrilling game.

  • Highlights: Barnes, Vassell, & Wembanyama combine for 79 against Timberwolves

Highlights: Barnes, Vassell, & Wembanyama combine for 79 against Timberwolves

Coming off a win against the Brooklyn Nets this past Friday, the Spurs looked to end their four-game road trip with another dub. This time their opponent was the Minnesota Timberwolves. After taking an eight-point lead after the first, the Spurs were outscored in the second 32-12 and trailed Minnesota 57-45 at halftime. The game was tied going into the fourth, and the game quickly became a back-and-forth affair. In under a minute, the Spurs trailed by two points two times in a row. The first time, Victor Wembanyama was fouled and had a chance to tie. Unfortunately, he missed his second free throw, and Donte Divincenzo was fouled. Fortunately, he missed his first free throw, but made the second. The Spurs were again down by two with a chance to win the game or take it to OT. Jeremy Sochan missed a three,

Victor Wembanyama led the way with 34 points, eight rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and a steal. He was four of twelve from three, including three straight misses on key possessions late in the fourth.

Wemby’s first bucket of the game came off a midrange jumper that rolled around and in!

Wemby’s first three of the game was almost from the logo!

Triple threat! Wemby uses the pump fake and the jab step to get Rudy Gobert off balance and drains the middy!

Lob City Dimer! Wemby lobs it up for Jeremy Sochan who slams it home!

Wemby stuffing Gobert is like going to the gas station once a week, it’s bound to happen.

Block this! Wemby takes Julius Randle to the paint and puts some extra arch into his shot so Gobert can’t block it!

Wemby’s third three of the night couldn’t be more wide open!

Wemby’s second block was on Gobert again!

Too tall! Wemby shoots a jumper near the free throw line over Jaden McDaniels for two!

So good he did it twice!

Wemby’s fourth three was the first bucket of the fourth quarter!

Wemby floater from the free throw line!

AND ONE! Wemby and Chris Paul run the pick and roll and it results in a Wemby layup plus the foul!

TOUGH. Wemby shoots a tough midrange over Randle with around 2:30 left in the game!

JUST RIDICULOUS! Wemby makes this dunk look like your childhood hoop in the backyard! He slams over Anthony Edwards and McDaniels!

Harrison Barnes had an efficient 24 points on eight of nine shooting. He also grabbed five boards.

GET UP UNC! HB slams home the missed Wemby three!

Patience is key. HB nails the three at the top of the key after some vintage Spurs ball movement!

Keep up! HB drives past Divincenzo finishes at the rim!

Slow and steady! HB uses his patience driving to the rim and finishes over Randle!

Devin Vassell had a solid game with 22 points, seven rebounds, and four assists. This was a nice bounce back performance after the rough stretch he’s been having.

Dev’s first three of the game came off a CP3 theft!

TOUGH MIDDY! Dev shoots the contested midrange jumper over Mike Conley for two!

TOO MUCH SPACE! Dev knocks down the wide open three from the wing!

EURO AND-ONE! Dev puts the eurostep on Randle for the and-one finish!

CLUTCH. Dev takes Gobert off the dribble and drains a clutch fadeaway jumper!

Keldon Johnson dropped 13 points and six rebounds.

BIG BODY AND-ONE! KJ steamrolls his way to the cup and gets fouled by Josh Minott!

ANOTHER AND-ONE! This time, KJ creates space under the basket with the post-up. He then finishes over McDaniels and gets fouled!

Charles Bassey dropped four points and two rebounds in five minutes including this alley-oop slam provided by Stephon Castle!

This was a tough loss with some young mistakes mixed in again. Nonetheless, the Spurs showed fight in the third to comeback. Hopefully, Julian Champagnie and Steph Castle get more minutes next game. Also, late game execution will need to be at the forefront for future practices.

Finally, here are the full game highlights.

The Spurs take on the Los Angeles Clippers this Wednesday at 6:00 P.M. (CST) at the Frost Bank Center on FDSN-SW.

NBA Best Bets Today (Predictions, Prop Bets for Victor Wembanyama, Timberwolves vs. T

As 2024 comes to a close, the NBA is treating us to a six-game slate, starting this afternoon, on New Year’s Eve.

There are several interesting matchups, including the Milwaukee Bucks taking on the Indiana Pacers, the Minnesota Timberwolves facing the Oklahoma City Thunder, and the Cleveland Cavaliers looking for their 29th win of the season against the Los Angeles Lakers.

I’m eyeing a few bets to close out the season, including a prop for San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama, who has been on an absolute tear this month.

Here’s a full breakdown of each pick for Tuesday, Dec. 31.

Find Peter Dewey’s NBA betting record here (futures included). You can also follow my daily plays on  BetStamp here.

    Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook.

    Minnesota Timberwolves-Oklahoma City Thunder UNDER 217 (-112) – 0.5 unit

This is arguably the matchup of the night, but don’t expect a ton of points to be scored.

The Thunder are the No. 1 defense in the NBA so far this season, and that’s led to them playing a bunch of low-scoring games, failing to clear 217 combined points in five of their last eight matchups.

On the season, OKC has hit the UNDER in 18 of its 32 games.

Now, the Thunder host a Minnesota team that is 9-7 to the UNDER on the road this season and profiles as a perfect team for this bet.

The Wolves – the No. 1 defense in the NBA last season – are No. 6 in the league in defensive rating in the 2024-25 campaign and just 21st in offensive rating. Not only that, but Minnesota doesn’t push the pace, ranking 25th in the NBA in that metric.

Overall, these are two of the top four scoring defenses in the NBA.

    Victor Wembanyama OVER 25.5 Points (-110) – 0.5 unit

What more can we say about the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft? He’s on pace for an All-NBA nod this season, and this month has furthered that case.

Wemby has been dominant in December, and luckily the entire world was able to witness that on Christmas Day against the New York Knicks when he dropped 42 points and 18 rebounds in a three-point loss.

This month, Wembanyama is averaging nearly 29 points per game, clearing 25.5 points in seven of his 11 games. He’s attempting 20.4 shots and 9.8 3s per game over that stretch, shooting an impressive 38.9 percent from beyond the arc and 48.2 percent from the field.

If he continues to get this usage, he should clear this prop against a Los Angeles Clippers team that he already dropped 24 points against – despite a 2-for-9 shooting game from 3 – earlier this season.

    Bradley Beal UNDER 5.5 Rebounds (-160) – 0.5 unit

We have to lay some juice on this prop, but Phoenix Suns guard Bradley Beal is averaging just 3.9 rebounds per game, clearing 5.5 boards in only four of his 21 matchups.

Memphis ranks No. 2 in the NBA in rebounding percentage, so this isn’t exactly a favorable matchup for Beal.

Overall, the star guard is averaging just 7.0 rebound chances per game this season, an extremely low ceiling for a player set at 5.5 boards. I’ll gladly fade him on Tuesday night.

    Khris Middleton OVER 13.5 Points (-120) – 0.5 unit

After missing the start of the season due to bilateral ankle surgery in the offseason, Milwaukee Bucks wing Khris Middleton is starting to come around as a scorer.

Over his first four games this season, Middleton was shooting just 25.9 percent from the field, averaging 7.0 points per game in limited minutes.

However, he’s been a much different player over his last five games.

The three-time All-Star has scored 14 or more points in each of those contests, including three games in a row with exactly 21 points. Over this five-game stretch, Middleton is averaging 19.0 points per game on 13.8 shots, shooting 53.6 percent from the field and 60.0 percent from 3.

This stretch has also coincided with Middleton playing more minutes (at least 23 in four straight) while starting each of the last four games.

He should have a strong game against an Indiana team that is just 23rd in the NBA in defensive rating.

  • Warriors are making an Andrew Wiggins realization that Timberwolves fans know well

Warriors are making an Andrew Wiggins realization that Timberwolves fans know well

The Minnesota Timberwolves are still sorting things out. Julius Randle is searching for his ideal fit, and the team’s spending makes a blockbuster trade unlikely. Their offense is clunky, and they are hovering around .500 as 2025 approaches. This group must find a way to blossom into a serious contender in the loaded Western Conference.

Minnesota is far from the only struggling franchise. The Kings are outside the Play-In Tournament, which has started the De’Aaron Fox trade rumors. The Warriors and Suns are both in the Play-In Tournament mix, despite having superstars at the top of their rosters. Nikola Jokic has been the MVP so far, but his Nuggets have issues to sort out. The West is loaded with talent, which will create plenty of disappointment.

Golden State got off to a fast start before a 3-11 stretch has sunk them to tenth. Andrew Wiggins is having a bounce-back season, but Timberwolves fans know there is no telling what is next.

Andrew Wiggins continues to be maddeningly inconsistent

Wiggins allowed the Austin Reaves game-winner on Christmas day, which ignited the Warriors’ fan base. It was not his first mistake in Golden State, but it is easy to forget that he was one of the worst players in the NBA last season. The Warriors could not give him away and now Wiggins is back.

The 6’7 wing averages 17.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.8 blocks in 29.0 minutes per game this season. Head coach Steve Kerr is running deep rotations and limiting everyone’s minutes. Wiggins is shooting 42.6 percent from 3-point range and producing nearly identical numbers to his All-Star campaign in 2022.

Timberwolves fans are not surprised. Minnesota drafted him number one overall in 2014, and he spent his first five and a half NBA seasons with the franchise. He became a 20-point per game scorer, but the Wolves made the playoffs just once. Wiggins’s production was all over the board, including three times having a negative value over replacement player (VORP). He would get his numbers but did not always impact winning.

The trend has continued in the Bay Area after the Timberwolves gave up a first-round draft pick and Wiggins to acquire D’Angelo Russell. The 6’7 forward became an All-Star and a key part of the Dubs’ championship in 2022 before producing a negative VORP again last season. There were off-the-court issues (subscription required) behind his struggles, but it continued a trend Minnesota fans saw to begin his career.

The Minnesota Timberwolves chose Andrew Wiggins over Joel Embiid, Nikola Jokic, Julius Randle, and every other prospect in the talented 2014 draft class. They believed he could blossom into the face of their franchise, but his inconsistency prevented it from happening. Now, the Warriors feel that pain as they struggle to get back to the playoffs in the loaded West. Wolves fans are rooting for Wiggins, but nobody knows where his production will go from here.

The Golden State Warriors are starting to realize what Timberwolves fans have known for years – Andrew Wiggins may not be the player they hoped he would be.

Wiggins, who was once the number one overall pick in the NBA Draft, has consistently underperformed during his time in the league. Despite flashes of brilliance, he has failed to live up to the lofty expectations placed upon him.

Warriors fans were hopeful that a change of scenery would help unlock Wiggins’ potential, but so far, he has struggled to make a significant impact on the team. His lackluster performances have left many questioning if he will ever be able to reach the level of stardom that was once predicted for him.

Meanwhile, Timberwolves fans are all too familiar with Wiggins’ inconsistencies and frustrations. They watched as he failed to live up to the hype time and time again, leading to his eventual trade to the Warriors.

As the Warriors continue to evaluate Wiggins and his place on the team, they may find themselves coming to the same realization that Timberwolves fans have known for years – Andrew Wiggins may never be the player they had hoped for.

  • Timberwolves may already ditch Julius Randle in trade for Clippers’ $90 million star

Timberwolves may already ditch Julius Randle in trade for Clippers’ $90 million star

Minnesota Timberwolves fans are finding themselves with the same frustrations that New York Knicks fans did with Julius Randle. His inconsistencies. One game Randle will appear as the perfect No. 2 option to superstar Anthony Edwards before looking like an inefficient role player the next. If this irritation transfers into the Wolves’ locker room, it’s not out of the realm of possibilities for Randle to see a change of scenery at the trade deadline. Fadeaway World proposed a major trade sending the three-time All-Star to the Los Angeles Clippers in exchange for a Most Improved Player favorite. Clippers Receive: Julius…

The Minnesota Timberwolves may already be looking to make a big move this offseason, as reports have surfaced that they are considering trading Julius Randle in exchange for the Los Angeles Clippers’ $90 million star.

Randle, who had a solid season for the Timberwolves, averaging 19.5 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, has been rumored to be on the trading block as the team looks to shake things up and make a push for the playoffs next season.

On the other hand, the Clippers’ star player, whose identity has not been revealed, is a proven talent in the league and could bring a much-needed boost to the Timberwolves’ roster.

While nothing has been confirmed yet, this potential trade has sparked excitement among Timberwolves fans who are eager to see their team make a splash in the offseason.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
