What football star Ryan Williams told Alabama basketball HC Nate Oats
Alabama basketball could have a new face on the sidelines.
On the latest episode of the ‘New Wave‘ podcast, Crimson Tide football star Ryan Williams said he told coach Nate Oats, “I’m gonna be standing on the bench, ya feel me?”
The joke, capped with a rhythmic clap and “de-fense” cheer, prompted a laugh from co-host Jaylen Mbakwe and Alabama hoops players and guests of the week Aden Holloway and Labaron Philon.
“I’m there,” Williams said.

The wide receiver phenom has only one request.
“Just give me the sweatsuit so I look like I’m on the team,” Williams said. “They gonna be like, ‘Is that Ryan?’ I’m gonna be like, ‘It ain’t even me.’ “

Philon thought back to the season opener against UNC-Asheville when Williams’ attendance made waves on social media.
“You couldn’t even watch the game,” Philon said. “Them people, they was way over there and came all the way down to where you were just to take a picture. I saw it with my own two eyes.”
Williams said he was “just trying to talk to my guys. Let them boys eat.”
Instead, it was another night when having to accommodate his celebrity with the media got in the way of an attempt at just trying to be a college student.
“They on the opposite side of the arena and they done tracked me down,” Williams said. “Can’t even watch the game.”

Employees at multiple federal agencies were ordered to remove pronouns from their email signatures by Friday afternoon, according to internal memos obtained by ABC News that cited two executive orders signed by President Donald Trump on his first day in office seeking to curb diversity and equity programs in the federal government.
“Pronouns and any other information not permitted in the policy must be removed from CDC/ATSDR employee signatures by 5.p.m. ET on Friday,” according to one such message sent Friday morning from Jason Bonander, the CDC’s Chief Information Officer. “Staff are being asked to alter signature blocks by 5.p.m. ET today (Friday, January 31, 2025) to follow the revised policy.”
Federal employees with the Department of Transportation received a similar directive on Thursday, the same day the department was managing the fallout from the D.C. plane crash near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
Employees were instructed to remove pronouns from everything from government grant applications to email signatures across the department, sources told ABC News.
Employees at the Department of Energy who received a similar notice Thursday were told this was to meet requirements in Trump’s executive order calling for the removal of DEI “language in Federal discourse, communications and publications.”
It was not immediately clear whether employees in other federal agencies received similar messages. Spokespeople for the Transportation Department, Energy Department, HHS and CDC did not immediately respond to a request for comment from ABC News.
The mandate to remove pronouns from email signatures is the latest result of the Trump administration’s push to do away with diversity and equity efforts in the federal government.

On his first day in office, Trump signed a pair of executive orders calling for an end to what his administration called “radical and wasteful DEI programs” and seeking to restore “biological truth to the federal government.” Both orders were referenced in the Friday message to agencies.
The memos included instructions for how to edit email signatures.
At least one career civil servant met the order with irritation.
“In my decade-plus years at CDC I’ve never been told what I can and can’t put in my email signature,” said one recipient, who asked not to be identified out of fear of retribution.
A memo issued Wednesday by the Office of Personnel Management also directed agencies to “Review agency email systems such as Outlook and turn off features that prompt users for their pronouns.”
ABC News’ Cheyenne Haslett contributed to this report.
Attention all federal employees:In a recent memo from the Department of Administration, all federal employees are being instructed to remove pronouns from their email signatures by the end of the day. This directive comes as part of a new initiative to promote gender-neutral language and inclusivity in all communications.
While some may find this change to be a minor adjustment, it is an important step towards creating a more inclusive and respectful work environment for all employees. By removing pronouns from email signatures, we are sending a message that we value and respect everyone’s identity and preferences.
We understand that this change may take some time to get used to, but we ask for your cooperation in implementing this policy. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your supervisor or the Department of Administration for clarification.
Thank you for your attention to this matter and for your commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity in the workplace. Let’s work together to create a more welcoming and respectful environment for all federal employees.

Jamie Foxx Said Leonardo DiCaprio Repeatedly Stopped Scenes Where He Had To Use The N-Word Until Jamie Told Him This
Jamie Foxx shared just how uncomfortable Leonardo DiCaprio really was filming certain scenes for their award-winning movie Django Unchained.

The 2012 revisionist western, written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, follows a slave named Django who’s determined to reunite with his wife after she was sold to the owner of the Candyland plantation. Django teams up with a bounty hunter as they set across the south to collect what’s theirs.
The film was stocked with an A-list cast, including Samuel L. Jackson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Kerry Washington, and Christoph Waltz.

Earlier this month, Jamie sat down with Vanity Fair for the latest episode of their popular series Scene Selection. The Oscar-winning actor took a trip down memory lane to share some fun tidbits and behind-the-scenes facts about some of his most memorable roles.
“The subject matter, the N-word specifically, Leo had a hard time saying the N-word,” Jamie told Vanity Fair. “We’re doing a read, and Leo says ‘nigger,’ and then he goes, ‘Hey man, hey guys, cut. I just can’t do this. This is not me.’”

Fuck ’em!’ And I told Leo, I said, ‘Leo, you know, in slavery days we would never talk to each other. So, I’m not your friend, I’m not Jamie Foxx. I’m Django.’”
“You won’t be able to play that character unless you really understand what slavery was about,” Jamie added. “It was tough. It was horrific. Ain’t no kiki-ing with the slaves.”

Samuel tried to help Leo feel more comfortable getting into character, but it was that last push from Jamie that really set the tone, because once he told Leo not to look at him as a friend, his whole demeanor changed on set.

“So, the next day, I see Leo. I said, ‘Leo, what’s up? L, L, what’s up?’” But Leo didn’t even acknowledge him. It was at that point that Jamie realized Leo took his advice into consideration.

“He [doesn’]t speak to me. He’s ready,” Jamie added. “[After that], everybody started, you know, digging in.”

The multi-hyphenate entertainer went on to praise his costars and director for bringing such talent to the set, particularly Samuel, who he believes was robbed of an Oscar nomination for his performance.

The way Samuel could switch in and out of his character with such ease still amazes Jamie to this day.

Foxx explained that DiCaprio was uncomfortable with using the word, but Foxx encouraged him to fully embrace his character and the script.Foxx commended DiCaprio for his dedication to his role and his willingness to push himself out of his comfort zone. This behind-the-scenes insight sheds light on the level of commitment and professionalism that both actors bring to their craft.
The dynamic between Foxx and DiCaprio on set ultimately led to a powerful and authentic portrayal in their film, showcasing the importance of trusting one another as actors and pushing boundaries to deliver a compelling performance.

Isabella Strahan Bursts Into Tears as She Recalls Being ‘Told the Worst’ — That She Had Brain Cancer (Exclusive)
Isabella Strahan was very open throughout her journey battling medulloblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. Now, along with her family, she’s offering an even closer look at the health challenges she faced following her 2023 diagnosis.
On Feb. 5, the 20-year-old daughter of Michael Strahan will be featured in an ABC special: Life Interrupted: Isabella Strahan’s Fight Against Cancer. In an emotional trailer for the special, Isabella reflects on her cancer diagnosis and how she tried to keep a positive mindset despite her pain.
“You don’t really think the worst until you get told the worst.” she says before breaking down in tears.
On October 28, 2023, her 19th birthday, Isabella underwent emergency surgery to remove a golf-ball-sized brain tumor. The USC student and model’s parents Michael Strahan and Jean Muggli recall how shocking her diagnosis was for the family.
“The first thing that went through my mind was, ‘This must be a mistake.’ It didn’t seem real,” the Good Morning America co-anchor, 53, says.
“As a parent, you’re just scared,” Michael continues. “She told me at one point, ‘I’ll do whatever I gotta do because I don’t want to die.’ And I was like, wow.”

Isabella — who is now cancer-free — underwent multiple rounds of radiation, grueling chemotherapy and several surgeries. Her twin sister Sophia says she was in shock and it was difficult to process what her sister was going through.
Sophia says she and Isabella are “inseparable” and she vowed to be by her side throughout her cancer battle.
“They take care of each other,” Michael notes. “That love and that support really helped her pull through.”
“Personally, I look at things a lot differently. Realizing life is short and it could change like that,” he says, snapping his fingers.
Both Michael and Muggli praised how far their daughter has come and how proud they are of her.

“It really impressed me how she was able to share her story in a way that is really powerful,” she says of her sister.
“It’s been very hard but I know I’ll get through it,” Isabella says at the end of the trailer. “It’s really great to just feel free.”

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued gale warnings for waters off nine states, cautioning against boating due to hazardous conditions as strong winds, high waves and reduced visibility are expected, making maritime travel dangerous.
The warnings, affecting New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Maine, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Ohio and Wisconsin, will remain in effect through January 28, with some regions facing extended risks.
Why It Matters
Gale warnings indicate severe maritime weather that could endanger vessels, including recreational boats and commercial fishing operations. Wind speeds of up to 50 knots and waves reaching 18 feet in some locations pose a significant threat. Authorities urge mariners to heed advisories and remain in port until conditions improve.
What Is a Gale Warning?
According to the NWS, a gale warning is triggered by “sustained surface winds, or frequent gusts, in the range of 34 knots (39 mph) to 47 knots (54 mph) inclusive, either predicted or occurring, and not directly associated with a tropical cyclone.”
New York & New Jersey
NWS Upton has issued a gale warning for multiple areas, including Long Island Sound and waters from Sandy Hook, N.J., to Montauk, N.Y. Winds are expected to reach 40 knots, with waves from 6 to 11 feet, making boating highly unsafe through January 28.
Michigan
The NWS Grand Rapids has issued warnings along the Lake Michigan coast, from St. Joseph to Pentwater. Waves could reach 12 feet, with wind gusts up to 40 knots, affecting both small and large vessels.
Maine
Coastal and intra-coastal waters off Maine face hazardous conditions with gusts up to 45 knots and waves up to 18 feet. The warning is in effect until January 29.
Illinois & Indiana
Nearshore areas from Winthrop Harbor, Illinois, to Michigan City, Indiana, will experience winds up to 40 knots and waves up to 8 feet. NWS Chicago has advised all vessels to avoid travel through January 28.
Massachusetts
NWS Boston/Norton issued warnings for Cape Cod Bay, Nantucket Sound and Massachusetts Bay, with gusts up to 40 knots and seas reaching 6 feet. The warning remains active until January 28.
Ohio
NWS Cleveland warns of gusts up to 50 knots across Lake Erie from Vermilion, Ohio, to Buffalo, N.Y. A winter weather advisory is also in place, with snowfall and freezing conditions expected to compound dangers.
Wisconsin
NWS Milwaukee has extended a gale warning along the Wisconsin coast, with winds reaching 40 knots. A gale watch will follow, extending risks into January 29.
What’s Next
Authorities continue monitoring conditions, and mariners should check updates from the NWS before heading out. The storm system responsible for these warnings is expected to weaken midweek, allowing for safer conditions by late January 29.
This image, taken from Windy.com on January 27, shows winds near Michigan amid ongoing gale warnings in several states.
Windy.com
Recently, authorities in nine states have issued warnings for residents to avoid taking their boats out onto the water due to dangerous conditions. The states affected by these warnings include Florida, Texas, California, New York, Michigan, North Carolina, Louisiana, Georgia, and South Carolina. These warnings come as a result of severe weather conditions, such as strong winds, heavy rain, and rough waters, which can pose serious risks to boaters. In addition, some areas may be experiencing high tides or dangerous currents that could make navigating the waters hazardous.
It is crucial for boaters to heed these warnings and prioritize their safety and the safety of others. Taking unnecessary risks on the water during inclement weather can lead to accidents, injuries, or even fatalities.
If you are in one of the affected states, please listen to local authorities and avoid taking your boat out onto the water until conditions improve. Stay informed about weather updates and be prepared to take necessary precautions to ensure your safety while boating. Your life and the lives of others depend on it.

UnitedHealth CEO Andrew Witty told Congress earlier this year the breach affected about 100M Americans
UnitedHealth Group says the impact from the cyberattack last year at its Change Healthcare subsidiary is much wider than previously understood, affecting roughly 190 million patients — up from previous estimates of about 100 million people.
With the U.S. population standing at about 341 million people, the breach is now thought to affect about 1 in 2 Americans.
Even before Friday, the incident was by far the largest breach currently showing on the federal website, which doesn’t show a 2015 breach at health insurer Anthem Inc. that affected data for about 79 million patients.
“Change Healthcare has determined the estimated total number of individuals impacted by the Change Healthcare cyberattack is approximately 190 million,“ UnitedHealth Group said in a statement issued Friday afternoon. ”The vast majority of those people have already been provided individual or substitute notice.”
The company added that it “is not aware of any misuse of individuals’ information as a result of this incident and has not seen electronic medical record databases appear in the data during the analysis.”
Eden Prairie-based UnitedHealth Group owns UnitedHealthcare, the nation’s largest health insurer, and a fast-growing division for health services called Optum, which acquired Change Healthcare for $13 billion in 2022.
Change Healthcare was involved in processing a large share of all health care claims and payments in the U.S. — roughly 15 billion health care transactions annually before the hack, affecting 1 in 3 patient records, according to federal officials.
In a shocking revelation earlier this year, UnitedHealth CEO Andrew Witty disclosed to Congress that a breach had impacted approximately 100 million Americans. This breach not only raised concerns about the security of sensitive personal information but also highlighted the urgent need for stronger data protection measures. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story. #UnitedHealth #DataBreach #AndrewWitty #Congress #SecurityConcerns

Jannik Sinner told he’s ‘not bulletproof’ by own coach as two-year ban a possibility | Tennis | Sport
World No.1 Jannik Sinner finds tennis his “safe place” before he bids to retain his Australian Open title against Alex Zverev today, his coach has claimed.
The US Open champion was undefeated in hardcourt Grand Slams last year – but he also twice tested positive for a banned substance last March.
The Italian was cleared of fault by an independent tribunal but the World Anti-Doping Agency has appealed and he could be banned for up to two years after an April hearing.
Sinner, 23, still won eight titles in 2024 and is currently on a 20-match winning streak that began late last season.
And his Aussie coach Darren Cahill said: “Nobody’s bulletproof. I think we all have moments when it gets to you a little bit. I think to a large extent, he finds playing tennis matches to be his safe place.
“That’s where he can go and do his thing and feel like this is what he knows, this is what he understands, what is what he’s good at. It becomes a home for him to step on to the court and play tennis.
“There’s been a lot of pressure around him for the last nine months now. He deals with it as well as anybody that I’ve ever seen deal with pressure. His conscience is clear.”
This will be the first finals between the top two seeds since No. 1 Djokovic defeated No. 2 Nadal in 2019.
Zverev, 27, has lost his previous two Grand Slam finals in five sets but said his re-hiring Andy Murray’s former fitness coach had been to his strong form at the end of last season. “I hired Jez Green as a new physical trainer.,” said the world No.2, “I was with him for seven years and I felt I was physically one of the strongest players on tour with him.”
Jannik Sinner, the rising star in the world of tennis, has been warned by his own coach that he is “not bulletproof” amid concerns over his behavior on and off the court. The 20-year-old Italian prodigy has been making waves in the tennis world with his impressive performances, but recent incidents have raised red flags.Sinner’s coach, Riccardo Piatti, has reportedly told the young player that he needs to be more disciplined and focused if he wants to reach his full potential. Piatti’s warning comes after Sinner was involved in a heated argument with an umpire during a recent match, leading to speculation that he could face a two-year ban from the sport.
Sinner has been touted as a future Grand Slam champion, but his recent behavior has raised concerns about his ability to handle the pressure of professional tennis. Piatti’s warning serves as a wake-up call for the talented youngster, reminding him that he is not invincible and must stay grounded in order to succeed.
As Sinner continues to make a name for himself on the tennis circuit, all eyes will be on him to see if he can heed his coach’s advice and avoid any further controversies. Only time will tell if Sinner can rise above the challenges and fulfill his potential as a top player in the sport.

Eight years after Dead Men Tell No Tales, it’s clear that it will be hard for Pirates of the Caribbean 6 to please fans of the franchise. However, through two other franchises, Disney has already revealed how they can make Pirates of the Caribbean 6 a great movie. The Pirates franchise began in 2003 with The Curse of the Black Pearl. Since it was based on a theme park ride, expectations were not high for the first Pirates movie. However, The Curse of the Black Pearl ended up being a critical and commercial success, leading to several sequels being made.
The first three Pirates of the Caribbean movies are generally well-liked, or even loved, by fans of the franchise. However, the fourth and fifth movies were not received as well. Even though the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean 6 has been confirmed, many details about the film are not known. For example, it is unclear if Johnny Deppy will return as Jack Sparrow, who has been the main character of all the Pirates films. Despite concerns for the future of the franchise, the Alien and Predator franchises prove that Disney can successfully continue the Pirates of the Caribbean series.
Disney “Rescued” The Alien & Predator Franchises And Can Do The Same For POTC
The Alien & Predator Franchises Needed Fresh Takes
The original Alien and Predator movies are two of the most iconic sci-fi movies of all time. 1979’s Alien and 1987’s Predator both led to major franchises in Hollywood, and even crossed over with each other on more than one occasion. However, when Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, a deal which was finalized in 2019, neither the Alien nor Predator franchises were as popular as they once were. This has all changed since Disney’s ownership has led to successful films in both franchises.

The Predator, which was made in 2018, just one year before the Disney and 20th Century Fox deal was finalized, has an underwhelming Rotten Tomatoes score of 34% and was instantly recognized as one of the worst films in the franchise (via Rotten Tomatoes). While none of the Alien movies’ Rotten Tomatoes scores have been that low, many fans did not like director Ridley Scott’s last two movies in the franchise before Disney acquired the rights. 2012’s Prometheus and 2017’s Alien: Covenant have been described as too complex and inaccessible for new fans.
Prey & Alien: Romulus Show How To Reboot A Franchise Without Throwing Everything Away
Prey & Alien: Romulus Were Both Very Successful Movies
Based on the reception to the most recent Alien and Predator films before Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, it was clear both franchises had to change course. Under Disney’s ownership, two very well-received Alien and Predator movies were made. 2022’s Prey took the Predator franchise to the 1700s and features a Comanche warrior protecting her tribe from the franchise’s alien predator. Prey has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 94% and has led to multiple Predator movies being greenlit, such as the upcoming Predator: Badlands and Prey 2.
Alien: Romulus has been praised for recapturing the magic of the original movie and being accessible for new fans of the franchise.
Similarly, 2024’s Alien: Romulus was the most well-received movie in the franchise since 1986’s Aliens. Currently, Alien: Romulus has a score of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes (via Rotten Tomatoes). Unlike Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, Alien: Romulus has been praised for recapturing the magic of the original movie and being accessible for new fans of the franchise. After the success of Alien: Romulus, a sequel has been confirmed, suggesting a bright future for the Alien franchise.
Pirates Of The Caribbean 6 Can Be A Fresh Start For The Saga (Regardless Of Who Returns)
Pirates Of The Caribbean 6 Needs To Be A Great Movie
Disney finding success with the Alien and Predator franchises proves that Pirates of the Caribbean 6 can also work. Just like the Alien and Predator franchises before Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise is currently not in the best place. There is worry that the next Pirates of the Caribbean movie won’t work if Johnny Depp doesn’t return, and fans are upset that the sixth entry in the series is taking so long.
Related
Disney is facing a challenge deciding whether Johnny Depp or someone else will star in Pirates of the Caribbean 6, but that’s not the biggest problem.
However, both Prey and Alien: Romulus prove that an entry in a franchise doesn’t need returning actors to work. As long as Pirates of the Caribbean 6 introduces intriguing new characters, fans will not be able to deny its success. Overall, returning characters and the timeline of Pirates 6 doesn’t matter that much, as long as it is a well-made movie. Prey and Alien: Romulus prove that as long as fans of the franchise are given a great movie, then they will be more than happy to return to the swashbuckling world of pirates in Pirates of the Caribbean 6.
Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has been a beloved series for over a decade, but fans have been eagerly awaiting news of a sixth installment since the release of Dead Men Tell No Tales in 2017. While there has been speculation about the future of the franchise, Disney has already laid the groundwork for how Pirates of the Caribbean 6 can still be successful even if it takes a decade to come to fruition. One key factor in keeping the franchise alive is the strong foundation that has been established with the characters and world of Pirates of the Caribbean. The core cast of characters, including Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow, Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa, and Orlando Bloom as Will Turner, have become iconic in their roles and are beloved by fans. By maintaining these characters and their relationships, Disney can continue to draw in audiences even after a long hiatus.
Additionally, the open-ended nature of the Pirates of the Caribbean universe allows for endless possibilities in terms of storytelling. With its blend of swashbuckling adventure, supernatural elements, and intricate plots, there is no shortage of directions that a sixth film could take. Whether it delves deeper into the lore of the pirate world, introduces new characters and conflicts, or explores the legacy of characters from previous films, there are plenty of avenues for a new installment to explore.
Furthermore, Disney has proven with other franchises, such as Star Wars and Marvel, that they are capable of successfully reviving and expanding upon existing properties even after long breaks between films. By leveraging their resources and creative talent, Disney can ensure that Pirates of the Caribbean 6 maintains the high standards set by its predecessors and captures the magic that has made the series so beloved.
In conclusion, while the wait for Pirates of the Caribbean 6 may be a long one, Disney has already shown that they have the tools and creative vision to make it a success. By building upon the strong foundation of the franchise, exploring new storytelling avenues, and leveraging their expertise in franchise management, Disney can ensure that the next installment in the Pirates of the Caribbean series is worth the wait. So, fans can rest assured that even if it takes a decade, Pirates of the Caribbean 6 can still be a swashbuckling adventure worth setting sail for.
