  • Woman of Tomorrow Adds David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham

David Krumholtz, who was recently part of the all-star cast of Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, and British actress Emily Beecham have joined the space-faring cast of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which Craig Gillespie is directing for Warner Bros. Discovery arm DC Studios.

The feature, which began shooting this week in DC’s UK production hub of Leavesden, is inspired by the Tom King and Bilquis Evely comic book mini-series and stars House of the Dragon‘s Milly Alcock playing Kara Zor-El, the cousin of Superman.

It’s unclear how faithful the script by Ana Nogueira is to the comic, which eschewed the traditional good vs. bad tropes and instead was a cosmic character piece, spanning many worlds and alien cultures. The Eisner-nominated 2021 story was told from the perspective of a young alien girl named Ruthye who enlists the aid of Supergirl is a quest of revenge against Krem of the Yellow Hills, the man who killed her father.

Eve Ridley is on the call sheet as Ruthye while Matthias Schoenaerts is Krem. Jason Momoa is due to cameo as alien bounty hunter Lobo.

Krumholtz and Beecham will play Supergirl’s parents.

The project was one of the first features developed by DC Studios, headed by James Gunn and Peter Safran. The duo unveiled as part of the initial slate. Alcock was picked as Supergirl almost a year ago and will first appear in Gunn’s Superman movie. Supergirl gets underway this winter and will shoot in the UK.

Krumholtz has been acting since his teenage years, notably appearing in The Santa Clause movies and later starring for six seasons in CBS crime drama Numbers in the late aughts. He played Nobel Prize-winner Isidor Rabi in Nolan’s Oppenheimer.

Beecham may be best known for starring in Netflix’s mind-bending series 1899 and appeared in the Guy Ritchie thriller The Covenant with Jake Gyllenhaal. This month, she co-stars in historical epic William Tell.

Krumholtz is repped by Paradigm and Brookside Management while Beecham is repped by CAA and Entertainment 360.

Exciting news! The upcoming sci-fi film Woman of Tomorrow has added two talented actors to its cast – David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham. Krumholtz, known for his roles in The Deuce and The Santa Clause films, is sure to bring his trademark charm and wit to the project. Beecham, who recently starred in the critically acclaimed series Little Joe, is a rising star with a knack for bringing depth and complexity to her characters. With these two onboard, Woman of Tomorrow is shaping up to be a must-see film. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project!

  • Woman of Tomorrow’ Takes Off With First Set Image

Supergirl is here! DC head James Gunn has teased the first look at Milly Alcock’s Woman of Tomorrow as filming begins at Warner Bros. Leavesden studio. This marks the DCU’s second film after David Corenswet’s Superman which will come out this July. While fans have been aching to see Alcock’s version of Kara Zor-El, fans would have to wait for the actual reveal.

Taking to Twitter, Gunn shared a new image of Alcock, from the back, from the set of Supergirl. The image doesn’t give away much, but it sees Alcock’s usual blond hair with a shade of red in it, wearing a hoodie on a chair that flaunts the Supergirl logo. The set seems to have a neon glow, with dominant red and blue colors – that’ll remind you a bit of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 color pallet. Gunn wrote that he iss “Thrilled to see cameras roll at Warner Bros”.

What Do We Know About ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’?

While plot details about Supergirl are kept tightly under wraps, we certainly know about the topline talent behind the scenes. Craig Gillespie will serve as the director after recently directing Dumb Money, the story of the GameStop stock fiasco. He directs from a script by Ana Nogueira. Further, Rob Hardy, best known for his work with Alex Garland on Annihilation, Ex Machina, and Civil War, will serve as the cinematographer.

Another major star joining Alcock is ex-Aquaman Jason Momoa, who will play Lobo. While Alcock has stayed tight lipped about her Supergirl stint Gunn previously described their version of Kara Zor-El as “Superman was sent to Earth, and, and he was raised by incredibly loving parents, whereas Kara was in Krypton, she was on a piece of Krypton that drifted away from the planet, and lived there for the first 14 years of her life among [a] horrible situation where she watched everybody around her die. So she’s a much harsher and more f—ked up Supergirl than we’ve been used to this far.”

Supergirl flies into theaters on June 26, 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for more such updates and check out the first look at Supergirl above.

  • Cold today, Snow tomorrow

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – As winter’s cold grip slowly loosens, temperatures will gradually rise, though not without a few bumps.

Current Wind Chills in eastern Iowa
    Current wind in eastern Iowa.
    (KCRG)

Overnight temperatures will slowly increase, and by morning, temperatures will be in the teens with wind chills that are still on the cold side, but no longer below zero.

    (KCRG)

Clouds will begin to increase tonight as a fast-moving weather system makes its way across the Midwest. This system will bring the possibility of light snow, especially to eastern Iowa, where accumulations of a trace to 1 inch are expected through Wednesday night. While the snow will not be heavy, it could still create some travel disruptions. Visibility may be reduced in spots, and slick patches could make the roads slippery, so drivers should exercise caution and allow extra time to reach their destinations. Even though the snow amounts won’t be significant, the combination of snow and wind could still make travel conditions tricky at times.

    Expect 1" for Wednesday
    Expect 1″ for Wednesday(KCRG)

After the snow clears out, we can expect a more seasonal shift in temperatures. Highs will rise into the upper 20s, which is closer to what we should expect for this time of year. The trend toward slightly warmer temperatures will be welcomed, but there won’t be a long-lasting warmup just yet. Dry weather will take hold for the upcoming weekend, providing a brief break from the snow and colder conditions. This stretch of dry weather should offer an opportunity for some outdoor activities, though temperatures will remain below freezing during the day. In any case, the gradual shift in temperatures means we may finally be heading toward a more typical winter pattern—cool but not unbearable—at least for the time being.

As the temperatures drop and the chill sets in, it looks like winter is finally making its presence known. Today, we’re bundling up in our warmest layers to combat the cold. But tomorrow? Well, it seems like snow is on the horizon.

Get ready to trade in your scarves for snow boots as the forecast is calling for a winter wonderland to blanket our surroundings. Whether you love it or dread it, there’s no denying that snow brings a certain magic with it.

So embrace the chill today and prepare for a snowy adventure tomorrow. Who knows, maybe you’ll even get to build a snowman or go sledding down a hill. Stay warm and stay safe, friends. Winter is here to stay. #ColdTodaySnowTomorrow

  • Chicago Is Colder Than Antarctica Right Now — But Things Will Warm Up (A Little) Tomorrow

CHICAGO — The city is currently colder than Antarctica, with wind chills pushing temperatures into the negative double digits and a risk of frostbite nipping at those who don’t bundle up.

“It’s the coldest stretch of weather since January of last year,” said Jake Petr, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. “Limit the time you spend outside.”

Temperatures that feel as low as -15 to -25 degrees will “hold steady” until the cold snap breaks after midnight, Petr said.

At Antarctica’s McMurdo Station, the continent’s largest base, it was 27 degrees at 4 p.m. Central Time Tuesday. Meanwhile at O’Hare Airport, it was just 1 degree.

Wednesday will be warmer in Chicago— relatively speaking — with daytime high temperatures in the mid-20 degrees and snow possible in the evening, Petr said.

Thursday and Friday will be slightly colder, in the lower 20 degrees, before the city “warms back up” Saturday with daytime highs finally above freezing in the mid-30 degrees, Petr said.

A significant southerly dip in the jet stream Tuesday brought a rare snowstorm to the Gulf Coast and left Chicago drawing in cold Arctic air from above, Petr said.

The good news for Chicagoans? “February is leaning slightly its above normal temperatures,” Petr said. “It’ll become harder to see cold like this today, but it’s not out of the question.”

Still, people should avoid going outside Tuesday if possible and dress appropriately if they must venture out. Frostbite can set in as little as 30 minutes in Tuesday’s conditions for those who leave their skin exposed, Petr said.

“This is about the coldest we’ll see for a while here,” Petr said.

Listen to the Block Club Chicago podcast:

It may be hard to believe, but Chicago is currently experiencing colder temperatures than Antarctica. With wind chills dipping well below zero, residents are bundling up in layers upon layers just to stay warm.

But fear not, Chicagoans, relief is on the way. Tomorrow, temperatures are expected to rise slightly, providing a temporary reprieve from the bone-chilling cold. While it may not be a dramatic warm-up, any increase in temperature will surely be welcomed with open arms.

In the meantime, it’s important to stay safe and take precautions against the extreme cold. Make sure to limit time spent outdoors, dress in warm layers, and keep an eye on any vulnerable populations, such as the elderly or homeless.

So hang in there, Chicago. The deep freeze won’t last forever, and warmer days are just around the corner. Stay warm, stay safe, and remember that spring is just a few months away.

  • What time will it snow tomorrow? Kemp issues State of Emergency ahead of winter storm

Gov. Brian Kemp has declared a State of Emergency effective immediately in preparation for the freezing temperatures and winter weather expected to impact Georgia on Tuesday.

The FOX 5 Storm Team has declared Tuesday a Storm Alert Day. Please be weather aware.

    State of Emergency in Georgia

    What we know:

The State of Emergency executive order authorizes the Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (GEMA/HS) to activate the State Operations Center (SOC) and mobilize any needed resources to address potential impacts.

    Timeline:

The State of Emergency will run through next Tuesday, Jan. 28.

    By the numbers:

Here is why the governor declared a state of emergency:

The Georgia Department of Defense may deploy up to 250 Georgia National Guard troops if needed for preparation, response, and recovery efforts.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for 128 counties from Tuesday morning through Wednesday morning, covering all of South Georgia, most of Central Georgia, and Metro Atlanta along the I-85 Corridor.

Areas under the watch can expect up to 2 inches of snow accumulation between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning.

Much of South Georgia could see up to one-tenth of an inch of ice from freezing rain, with up to one-quarter of an inch possible in far Southeast Georgia.

On Wednesday morning, low temperatures will drop to the teens across North and Central Georgia and the 20s in South Georgia, with any precipitation likely to remain through at least Wednesday.

Afternoon highs will only reach the mid-to-upper 30s, and anything that does not melt and is dry on Wednesday will refreeze on Thursday morning as temperatures fall to the upper teens to the lower 20s.

Thursday’s afternoon highs are expected to reach the lower 40s, which should melt and dry much of what remains on the ground.

    What they’re saying:

Gov. Kemp explained his decision in a press release on Monday.

“Before the full force of the incoming winter weather arrives, many Georgians are already experiencing dangerously low temperatures ahead of expected freezing precipitation on Tuesday,” said Governor Brian Kemp. “Throughout the weekend, I have been working with our state agencies to ensure we’re prepared, and the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has been treating roadways since Sunday morning. They, along with our emergency management and public safety teams, will be working throughout this winter storm. As we continue to coordinate with state and local officials throughout the state, I urge everyone to make their own preparations to ensure they and their families can remain safe over the coming days, especially if road conditions prevent travel.”

    Dig deeper:

Additionally, the State of Emergency prohibits price gouging; suspends hours-of-service limitations for commercial vehicle operators involved in response activities; and temporarily increases weight, height, and length limits for commercial vehicles transporting essential supplies.

According to Kemp, state offices in the City of Atlanta, including the State Capitol and surrounding area, will be closed Tuesday, and employees will work remotely. Agency officials also have discretion to close offices outside of Atlanta and instruct those employees to also work remotely for their safety. That discretion extends into Wednesday and possibly Thursday.

Weather in Atlanta tomorrow: Storm Alert Day

    What we know:

The FOX 5 Storm Team declared Tuesday a Storm Alert Day for the threat of snow in metro Atlanta and North Georgia late last week. FOX 5 Storm Alert Days are rare and are only issued when serious weather is approaching north Georgia. Prior to last week, the last time one was declared was when Hurricane Helene moved through Georgia in September.

A significant winter weather system is set to impact the Atlanta metro area and parts of Georgia, with cold temperatures and snow expected over the next few days, according to FOX 5 Storm Team meteorologist Jonathan Stacey. “The cold air is firmly afoot and we will likely not rise above freezing at this point for the next 36 to 48 hours,” Stacey said. “Then add on top of that the incoming of winter weather.”

    Big picture view:

A winter weather advisory is in effect for the entire Atlanta metro area, while a winter storm warning has been issued for counties in Middle Georgia, shaded in pink on weather maps. “It will be those southernmost communities across North Georgia going into Middle Georgia that actually face the brunt of the winter weather,” Stacey noted.

    Local perspective:

Residents north of the I-85 corridor and to the west can expect minimal snowfall, with flurries likely in some neighborhoods, particularly in Cobb, Paulding, and Carroll counties. However, areas south and east of the metro are expected to see some accumulation, with up to an inch of snow possible. Middle Georgia and areas eastward could see higher amounts, with up to two or even three inches in isolated cases, especially on Tuesday afternoon.

“This system, unlike the one that we had about a week and a half ago, will not be bringing us a mix of sleet and freezing rain. It is going to pretty much be an all-snow maker,” Stacey explained. Despite the absence of ice, any snow that melts will refreeze due to persistent sub-freezing temperatures.

What time is it going to snow tomorrow?

    Timeline:

Snow showers are anticipated to begin sneaking in from Troop County to southern portions of Putnam and Jasper counties by 2 p.m. “Once again, mainly to the south and east of the I-85 corridor,” Stacey noted. Counties like Spalding and Lamar are expected to see bouts of snow during the afternoon hours.

The heaviest snowfall is expected between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., with areas like Upson County potentially receiving more than an inch, and Eatonton around an inch. Closer to the metro area, accumulations are expected to be a dusting or coating at best.

    What we don’t know:

A winter storm is set to impact North Georgia, with the I-85 corridor serving as a general dividing line for snowfall.

“It looks to be a general dividing line of I-85,” Stacey said. “As we walk you through the next 24-hour period, that will feature winter weather for a great deal of North Georgia, but possibly at this point, not all of North Georgia.”

“Could that shield of snow actually edge into the metro area and pass the I-85 corridor going to the north and to the west? It certainly could,” Stacey said. However, the highest snow accumulations are expected to be to the south and east of the city.

    What’s next:

Behind the snow, frigid air will persist, with wind chills feeling like 11°F in Carrollton and 5°F in Ellijay by Wednesday morning. “We won’t shake the chill at any point in time,” Stacey warned, with single-digit wind chills expected across the area.

The FOX 5 Storm Team is tracking multiple watches, warnings, and advisories across the state. Here is a breakdown:

Cold Weather advisory for metro Atlanta, north Georgia

    What we know:

A Cold Weather Advisory has been issued for Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Chattooga, Gordon, Pickens, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Floyd, Bartow, Cherokee, Forsyth, Hall, Banks, Jackson, Madison, Polk, Paulding, Cobb, North Fulton, Gwinnett, Barrow, Clarke, Oconee, Oglethorpe, Wilkes, Haralson, Carroll, Douglas, South Fulton, DeKalb, Rockdale, Walton, Newton, Morgan, Greene, Taliaferro, Heard, Coweta, Fayette, Clayton, Spalding, Henry, Butts, Jasper, Putnam, Hancock, Warren, Troup, Meriwether, Pike, Upson, Lamar, Monroe, Jones, Baldwin, Washington, Glascock, Jefferson, Harris, Talbot, Taylor, Crawford, Bibb, Twiggs, Wilkinson, Johnson, Emanuel, Muscogee, Chattahoochee, Marion, Schley, Macon, Peach, Houston, Bleckley, Laurens, Treutlen, Stewart, Webster, Sumter, Dooly, Crisp, Pulaski, Wilcox, Dodge, Telfair, Wheeler, Montgomery, and Toombs counties.

    Timeline:

This is in effect from 10 p.m. on Monday until 9 a.m. on Tuesday and again from 10 p.m. on Tuesday until 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

    By the numbers:

Monday, the FOX 5 Storm Team advises residents to brave for very cold wind chills as low as 2 above expected for the higher elevations of north Georgia, as low as 10 above along the I-20 corridor, and as low as 15 above elsewhere.

Tuesday night, again, there will be very cold wind chills 2-10 above expected north of I-20 and between 10-15 above south of I-20.

  • What time is the Bills game tomorrow?

Four Bills drew NFL fines following last weekend’s wild card win. One of those players got fined twice.

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. — Four Buffalo Bills drew NFL fines following last week’s 31-7 wild card win against the Denver Broncos. One of those players actually drew two fines.

The first play that ended in a fine belonged to cornerback Taron Johnson, for what the NFL deemed unnecessary roughness (use of his helmet) when tackling Denver Broncos running back Javonte Williams with 6 minutes, 30 seconds to play in the first quarter.

Johnson was fined $14,305 while Williams was docked $45,020 for the same helmet-use violation. Johnson left the game to be evaluated for a head injury. He cleared concussion protocol and returned to the field early in the second quarter.

Wide receiver Mack Hollins drew two fines for unsportsmanlike conduct (taunting).

The first fine, which cost Hollins $6,736, came after making a tackle on a punt return with 2 minutes to play before halftime. The second fine, which cost Hollins 11,255, after his 19-yard reception in the fourth quarter. Instead of a first-and-goal from the Denver 3, the Bills lost 15 yards and eventually settled for a 34-yard Tyler Bass field goal.

Long snapper Reid Ferguson also drew a flag for taunting following Hollins’ punt-return tackle minutes before halftime. His fine totaled $11,255.

Finally, safety Damar Hamlin’s fine for unsportsmanlike conduct (removal of the helmet) came after his apparent interception of Broncos quarterback Bo Nix with 3:24 to play. The play was reversed following a review, but the Bills took possession anyway because the incompletion led to a turnover on downs.

There was one other fine from Sunday’s game: Denver linebacker Justin Strnad lost $7,250 because of a hip-drop tackle that happened in the third quarter.
