3 Reasons to Buy Pfizer Stock Like There’s No Tomorrow

The beaten-down pharmaceutical giant could double your investment over three to four years.

The pharmaceutical industry can be a tough business. Companies must innovate constantly to stay relevant because patents protecting their proprietary drugs expire. Pfizer (PFE 0.85%), a longtime stalwart in the pharmaceutical sector, enjoyed a growth spurt during the COVID-19 pandemic due to its Comirnaty vaccine and Paxlovid treatment.

Sales and earnings have plunged since the pandemic ended, sending Pfizer stock down over 50% off its former high.

Ironically, the best time to invest in cyclical companies like Pfizer is during these valleys, just before the next growth spurt. Although Pfizer seems headed toward big things over the coming years, the stock has immediate appeal. Here are three reasons to consider buying Pfizer like there’s no tomorrow — today.

    1. The business is trending up again

As terrible as COVID-19 was for society, it was undeniably a windfall for Pfizer. The company’s two COVID-19 products combined for approximately $56.7 billion in sales in 2022, ballooning its total revenue to $100.3 billion. Naturally, as the pandemic opportunity dried up, it seemed like Pfizer was imploding. You can see sales and earnings spike and then crash in the chart below:

    PFE Chart

    PFE data by YCharts

More importantly, revenue and earnings bottomed and began rising again this year. This isn’t a fluke; through nine months of 2024, Pfizer’s specialty care products are up 11% year over year, while oncology sales are up 25%. Comirnaty sales (reported in Pfizer’s primary care portfolio) are down 66% through nine months of 2024 versus last year, but the number is small enough now that it’s not dragging the company down.

Pfizer is focusing on oncology for growth for the rest of the decade. In late 2023, it used its pandemic profits to acquire Seagen for $43 billion to beef up its oncology pipeline. The strategy seems to be working so far. Management is predicting earnings growth between 10% and 18% for 2025, and analysts estimate earnings will grow by an average of 14% annually over the next three to five years.

In other words, Pfizer looks ready to grow again.

    2. A massive dividend with strong financial backing

Investors don’t have to buy and hope they eventually make money. Pfizer is generously compensating its shareholders for their patience with a dividend that yields 6.3% at today’s share price.

That’s higher than most blue chip stocks, which might raise alarm bells about the dividend’s dependability. However, the facts don’t support that. Management has repeatedly maintained its plans to support (and raise) the dividend and followed through with a 2.4% increase in early December.

It’s not a big increase, but Pfizer is focusing on paying down debt, so once the balance sheet is healthy again, I’d look for more dividend growth. Financially, the dividend is fine. The payout ratio is only 67% of guided 2025 earnings, so this wasn’t a desperate raise — Pfizer can afford it.

    3. Potential market-beating returns from Pfizer’s current price

You might expect a hefty dividend and double-digit earnings growth to fetch a solid valuation on the stock market, but nope. Pfizer trades at just over 10 times its 2025 earnings guidance. Why? It’s probably a combination of several factors. Pfizer may still have a stigma from its post-pandemic falloff. Additionally, investors may fear how a new government administration could impact Pfizer and the broader pharmaceutical industry.

The good news is that you don’t need the valuation to change to make good money from Pfizer stock. The stock could remain at its current price-to-earnings ratio and still deliver 20% annualized returns, enough to double your investment in under four years. That’s 6% from the dividend plus another 14% from earnings growth.

Meanwhile, the S&P 500 trades above its historical norms, leading some to speculate about potential market downturns. I’d say the odds are that Pfizer stock will outperform the broader stock market over the coming years, assuming its oncology growth agenda goes as planned. So far, so good, with a strong growth guide for 2025.

Justin Pope has no position in any of the stocks mentioned. The Motley Fool has positions in and recommends Pfizer. The Motley Fool has a disclosure policy.

    1. Strong Financial Performance: Pfizer has a solid track record of financial performance, with consistently strong revenue and earnings growth. The company’s diverse portfolio of pharmaceutical products and strong pipeline of new drugs position it well for continued growth in the future.
    2. Leading in Innovation: Pfizer is a leader in the pharmaceutical industry when it comes to innovation. The company invests heavily in research and development, constantly working to bring new and improved treatments to market. With a focus on cutting-edge technologies and breakthrough therapies, Pfizer is well-positioned to remain a key player in the industry.
    3. Resilience in Times of Uncertainty: Pfizer has proven to be a resilient company, able to weather economic downturns and global challenges. The company’s strong balance sheet and diversified business operations provide stability in uncertain times, making it an attractive investment option for those looking to weather market volatility.

Overall, Pfizer’s strong financial performance, commitment to innovation, and resilience in times of uncertainty make it a compelling stock to consider for long-term investment.

  • The Weeknd Previews ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ With ‘End is Near’ Billboards

The Weeknd Previews ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ With ‘End is Near’ Billboards

For a while, Abel Tesfaye has been planting the seeds of the idea that his forthcoming studio album will be his last as the Weeknd. Hurry Up Tomorrow, the record set for release in January as the conclusion of his latest trilogy, looks to speed up the separation. He’s already started to chip away at what once was with a series of billboards posted in major cities across the world that read: “The End Is Near.”

The billboards appeared in Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Paris, London, and Melbourne. On each, the words are written in the exact same way, with space between the “E” and “ND,” as though the rest of the letters from the Weeknd were plucked out.

Each of the billboards replicates the phrase in the style of his previous albums. There’s the bold red and yellow color scheme of Starboy, the classic Kiss Land green, the ripped paper reminiscent of Beauty Behind the Madness, the deep red of After Hours, the chrome font from Dawn FM, and the stark white of his first-ever trilogy: House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence.

The Weeknd has been laying the groundwork for Hurry Up Tomorrow for months. When he announced the title in September, it was accompanied by a dramatic and lengthy statement that reflected on the nearly 15 years since Trilogy arrived and changed everything for him.

“I look in the mirror and feel both old and new, stuck in limbo and unable to move. I still haven’t faced myself,” he said at the time. “More songs could help, but what do I have left to say? Woe is me in my gilded cage, right? The very thing that once made me invincible failed me on the world stage. A new trauma surfaced, opening floodgates. A new path awaits. When today ends, I’ll discover who I am.”

Hurry Up Tomorrow will arrive on Jan. 24, bringing the trilogy that began with After Hours in 2020 — and continued with Dawn FM in 2022 —to an end. The following day, the Weeknd will perform at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California for a one-night-only concert.

But even that will only be the beginning of the end. On May 16, the Weeknd, or maybe he’ll just be Tesfaye by then, will release the feature film Hurry Up Tomorrow in theaters. He has described the movie as a “musically driven psychological thriller.” Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan will star in the release, which will be directed by Trey Edward Shults.

The Weeknd is back at it again, teasing fans with cryptic billboards that have everyone buzzing about his new music. The R&B superstar has been spotted putting up billboards in major cities around the world, hinting at a new track titled “Hurry Up Tomorrow” with the tagline “End is Near.”

Fans are speculating that this could be a preview of The Weeknd’s upcoming album, which has been highly anticipated since the release of his critically acclaimed album “After Hours” in 2020. The billboards have sparked excitement and speculation among fans, who are eagerly waiting for more details to be revealed.

With his signature blend of smooth vocals and atmospheric production, The Weeknd has become one of the biggest names in music today. His ability to create captivating and emotional music has earned him a dedicated fanbase, and his latest tease has only added to the anticipation for what he has in store next.

Stay tuned for more updates on The Weeknd’s new music, and in the meantime, keep an eye out for those mysterious billboards popping up in a city near you. The end may be near, but the excitement is just beginning.

  • Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow – Jason Momoa Has Been Cast As Lobo

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow – Jason Momoa Has Been Cast As Lobo

Posted in: Movies, Supergirl, Warner Bros | Tagged: , ,

Jason Momoa has rejoined the DC Universe. He has been cast as Lobo and is set to make his debut in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

The cast of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow just added another major name and character to its already impressive lineup. Considering the number of DC characters Superman is set to introduce to the universe, it really shouldn’t be that surprising that Supergirl appears to be on the same trajectory. Jason Momoa was in the previous era of the DC Universe as Aquaman, which infamously ended with the crunch of a cockroach burger. While Momoa always seemed to have a lot of love for Arthur, he also made it very clear that he might have even more love for the character of Lobo. However, back when Momoa was first cast, the character of Lobo seemed a bit more out there and something that might not play well to a mainstream audience. Things have changed a lot, and people would be willing to accept a character that is like these days. Deadline reported, and Momoa confirmed on his official Instagram that he has been cast as Lobo in the new DC Universe.

“So Lobo was… I collect comics, and I don’t do so much anymore, but he was always my favorite, and I always wanted to play Lobo, because I’m like. ‘Hello? It’s the perfect role,’” he said. “I mean, listen. If they call and ask me to play him, it’s a f*ck yeah. I haven’t received that call, so I don’t want to put any fake news out there, but if they ever call me and ask me to play, or ask me to audition, I’m there,” said the post on Momoa’s official Instagram, a quote from a previous article, with the caption “They called.”

Lobo is a character who has bounced all over the DC universe, from the Justice League to the Suicide Squad. Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen created him, and he first appeared in Omega Man #3 in June 1983. It is unclear what role he’ll play in Supergirl: Women of Tomorrow.

Here is James Gunn also confirming Momoa’s casting on his Instagram stories:

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Starts Filming In January

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is one step closer to entering production. The project, which has a writer, Ana Nogueira, was announced back in November 2023. After months of speculation posts that were starting to rival the best of them, we finally got word that Milly Alcock would be playing Supergirl at the end of January. In April, we learned that Craig Gillespie would be the director, and some of the supporting cast started filling out, with Matthias Schoenaerts joining the cast as Krem of the Yellow Hills.

Gunn explained at the time of the initial Supergirl announcement, “In our series, we see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he was an infant, versus Supergirl, who was raised on a rock, a chip off Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life, and then came to Earth when she was a young girl. She’s much more hardcore; she’s not exactly the Supergirl we’re used to seeing.” We don’t have any other plot details aside from the release date, June 26, 2026, for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, but the production is set to start on January 13th.

    Sagittarius (Nov 23-Dec 21)

  • Marching for a Better Tomorrow: The Importance of Civic Engagement

Marching for a Better Tomorrow: The Importance of Civic Engagement

Marching for a Better Tomorrow: The Importance of Civic Engagement

In recent years, we have seen a resurgence in activism and civic engagement across the globe. From the Women’s March to the Black Lives Matter protests, people are taking to the streets in record numbers to demand change and fight for a better tomorrow. But why is civic engagement so important, and what impact can it have on society?

Civic engagement is the act of actively participating in the community and working towards positive change. It can take many forms, from voting in elections to attending protests and rallies. By engaging in civic activities, individuals can help shape the policies and decisions that affect their lives and the lives of those around them.

One of the key reasons why civic engagement is so important is that it gives a voice to marginalized communities and helps to ensure that their needs and concerns are heard. When people come together to march for a cause, they are showing solidarity and strength in numbers, making it more difficult for policymakers to ignore their demands.

Furthermore, civic engagement helps to hold those in power accountable for their actions. By speaking out and demanding change, individuals can push for reforms and policies that benefit the greater good. This can lead to a more equitable and just society for all.

Additionally, participating in civic activities can help to build a sense of community and belonging. When people come together to march for a cause, they are forming connections and building relationships with others who share their values and beliefs. This can create a sense of solidarity and unity that can be powerful in driving social change.

Finally, civic engagement is crucial for democracy to thrive. When people are actively engaged in their communities and participating in the political process, they are helping to ensure that their voices are heard and that their rights are protected. This can lead to a more responsive and inclusive government that represents the interests of all citizens.

In conclusion, marching for a better tomorrow through civic engagement is vital for creating positive change in society. By coming together to demand justice, equality, and accountability, individuals can help shape a brighter future for themselves and future generations. So let’s continue to march, protest, and advocate for a better tomorrow. Our voices matter, and our actions can make a difference.

  • Marching Towards a Better Tomorrow: The Role of Protest in Creating a More Just Society

Marching Towards a Better Tomorrow: The Role of Protest in Creating a More Just Society

Protests have long been a powerful tool for driving social change and creating a more just society. From the civil rights movement of the 1960s to the recent wave of protests against police brutality and racial injustice, marches and demonstrations have played a crucial role in pushing for progress and holding those in power accountable.

One of the key ways in which protests contribute to creating a more just society is by raising awareness of important issues. When large numbers of people take to the streets to demand change, it attracts media attention and sparks conversations about the injustices that need to be addressed. This increased visibility can help to shine a light on issues that may have been overlooked or ignored, and can push them to the forefront of public consciousness.

In addition to raising awareness, protests can also put pressure on policymakers to take action. When politicians see large numbers of people mobilizing around a particular issue, they are more likely to feel compelled to respond and make changes. The civil rights movement, for example, used protests and marches to push for legislation like the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965. These laws were instrumental in dismantling the legal barriers to equality and justice for African Americans.

Furthermore, protests can serve as a catalyst for grassroots organizing and community mobilization. When people come together to march and demonstrate, they often forge connections and build relationships that can be harnessed for ongoing activism and advocacy. This sense of solidarity and collective action can help to sustain momentum and drive long-term change.

Protests also have the power to disrupt the status quo and challenge the existing power structures. By disrupting business as usual and creating a sense of urgency, protests can force those in power to confront uncomfortable truths and take meaningful action. This can lead to systemic changes that address the root causes of injustice and inequality.

While protests are a powerful tool for creating a more just society, they are not without challenges. Protesters often face backlash, repression, and violence from authorities and opponents. It is important for protesters to be aware of their rights, to stay safe, and to be strategic in their actions.

In conclusion, protests play a crucial role in driving social change and creating a more just society. By raising awareness, putting pressure on policymakers, mobilizing communities, disrupting the status quo, and challenging power structures, protests can help to create a more equitable and inclusive world. As we march towards a better tomorrow, let us remember the power of protest and the importance of standing up for justice and equality.

Partly cloudy skies should be around the ArkLaTex throughout Friday for today with no chance for any rain showers. High temperatures will reach the upper 60′s this afternoon.

Tomorrow is a First Alert Weather Day! Scattered severe storms hit our region on Saturday. The storms look to mainly come through in the afternoon hours. Most of the severe threat deals with strong wind gusts and a brief chance of hail. There is a small chance for isolated tornadoes mainly just for NW LA south of I-20 & east of I-49. High temperatures will reach the low 70′s.

Sunshine is back out on Sunday and it finally looks to stay in place. We don’t have any rain showers look to reach into the ArkLaTex through all of next week either as the next rain chance doesn’t look to be until the following weekend after this coming one. High temperatures will stay in the upper 60′s and lower 70′s all the way through Monday. High’s then start to fall on New Year’s Eve on Tuesday with high’s reaching down to the upper 50′s on New Year’s Day and mid 50′s for the end of next week.

Happy Friday & enjoy the weekend!

In October 2044, we are witnessing a growing movement towards sustainability and environmental conservation. People are coming together to advocate for cleaner energy sources, reduced carbon emissions, and protection of our planet’s precious resources. Governments and corporations are starting to take action, implementing policies and practices that prioritize the health of our planet over profit.
