  • 5 Best Candidate For Torres’ Secret Girlfriend In NCIS Season 22 (Including A Former MCRT Member)

NCIS‘ Nick Torres has not shied away from romance, and his secret girlfriend in NCIS season 22 is likely one of five women who have already appeared on the show. While romance has never been the focal point of the military police procedural, the NCIS franchise has featured several heart-throbbing romances in many tropes, including friends-to-lovers and slow-burn relationships.

Torres’ latest girlfriend has been kept a secret from the other NCIS characters, which gives the implication that his new girlfriend is known to his team and that she has appeared on NCIS before. There are several women who could have stolen his heart, but Torres has not given any hints that could reveal his partner’s identity. Even so, some clues may have offered an idea on who his new love interest is.

    5

    Ellie Bishop

Had A Tense Will-They-Won’t-They Relationship With Torres for Five Seasons

One of the likely candidates for Torres’ secret romance in NCIS season 22 is Ellie Bishop. The two shared a will-they-won’t-they relationship ever since Torres joined NCIS in season 14. After Ellie Bishop’s abrupt exit in NCIS season 18, the two never received proper closure, leaving Torres heartbroken and uninterested in dating for four years.

How Ellie Bishop Could Return to NCIS (Without Breaking The Law)

While Ellie Bishop, played by Emily Wickersham, has been written off of NCIS, there are two ways that she could legally be brought back.

If Bishop is Torres’ secret girlfriend, it would explain his secrecy. Bishop betrayed her team by leaking classified documents and covering it up. If she were to return to NCIS, she would need to either face a trial or keep her relationship with Torres very secretive to protect them both.

    4

    Robin Knight

Robin Was First Introduced In NCIS Season 20

Robin Knight is Jessica Knight’s younger sister and was first introduced in NCIS season 20’s Thanksgiving episode, “Turkey Trot.” She is the complete opposite of Jessica, which is what would make her relationship with Torres so intriguing. NCIS‘ showrunner, Steven D. Binder, has revealed that Nick Torres’ girlfriend has appeared on NCIS before, which means that it is likely that Robin is his new girlfriend.

Robin Knight is played by Lilan Bowden in NCIS.

Jessica and Robin have gotten closer ever since their encounter in NCIS season 20 where the latter’s ex-fiancé threatened their lives as a way of enacting revenge on the MCRT member for something she had been involved with years ago. Their closeness could have led to Robin being invited on group outings with her sister. As Jessica and Torres are close friends outside of work, it is plausible that Torres and Robin connected as friends in a group setting and became closer as time went on.

    3

    Sarah McGee

Sarah Appeared On NCIS During Its Earlier Seasons

Sarah McGee is Tim McGee’s younger sister, and so far, she has only appeared in one episode of NCIS season 2 and was a major character in NCIS season 4, episode 9, “Twisted Sister.” Despite barely being involved in the show, she did have the potential to date an NCIS member at the time, as Tony DiNozzo showed some interest in her during her appearance. Somehow, DiNozzo’s interest in her all those years ago could have foreshadowed a future romance between her and another MCRT member, Torres.

Parker’s MCRT is very close, so it is reasonable to assume they have all been invited to each other’s events outside of work…

Almost 20 years later, Sarah could be considered a viable candidate for Torres’ love life in NCIS season 22. While the two have never met on screen, Sarah and Torress have likely met outside of work through McGee’s family gatherings and personal events. Parker’s MCRT is very close, so it is reasonable to assume they have all been invited to each other’s events outside of work, which would give Torres the opportunity to meet Sarah.

    2

    Rachel Cranston

Rachel Appeared On NCIS Before Torres’ Time On The Show

Rachel is the late Kate Todd’s older sister, and she appeared as a recurring character in NCIS seasons 8 through 11 as a psychologist. Even though NCIS‘ Kate Todd died in the season 2 finale, her sister, Rachel, did not appear on the show until several years later. Rachel and Torres may not have met on-screen, but they could have met at a work event and developed a personal relationship from there.

Is CBS About To Cancel NCIS?

NCIS season 22’s ratings aren’t looking good. Based on CBS’ history of cancelations, what are the chances that it’ll pull the plug on the procedural?

While Rachel is not related to any current members of the MCRT, Torres’ secrecy about their relationship could be attributed to their large age gap. Rachel and Torres have about a 20-year age gap, which could be why Torres has felt uncomfortable sharing the news with his team. As Torres is very close with his colleagues, it is surprising that he has not revealed his girlfriend to them yet, but the age gap could be one explanation for why he has not.

    1

    Grace Confalone

Grace Has Been A Recurring Character on NCIS Since Season 13

Maybe one of the most controversial candidates for Torres’ secret romance, Dr. Grace Confalone has been a recurring NCIS character for several seasons. Torres began attending therapy sessions with Grace in NCIS season 19 and has since become a much more emotionally available and well-rounded character. While Torres’ therapy sessions have not been shown since NCIS season 20, it does not mean he has stopped seeing Grace.

Torres has had such great character growth in NCIS since going to therapy, so it is likely that he is still going to weekly sessions, but to a different therapist to allow room for a romantic relationship to develop with Grace.

A relationship between Grace and Torres may be unethical if he is still attending his sessions. However, given that he has not appeared in one since season 20, it means he could very well have stopped attending Grace’s sessions to seek her out romantically instead. Torres has had such great character growth in NCIS since going to therapy, so it is likely that he is still going to weekly sessions, but to a different therapist to allow room for a romantic relationship to develop with Grace.

    1. Agent Eleanor Bishop – Bishop has always had a close and secretive relationship with Torres, sparking rumors that there may be something more between them. Their chemistry and banter on screen make them a top contender for Torres’ secret girlfriend.
    2. Agent Katherine "Kate" Todd – Although she was tragically killed off in earlier seasons, Kate’s return as Torres’ secret girlfriend would certainly be a shocking twist. Their shared history and undeniable chemistry would make for an interesting storyline in Season 22.
    3. Former MCRT member Ziva David – Ziva and Torres have always had a playful and flirty dynamic, leading fans to speculate that there may be more to their relationship than meets the eye. Bringing Ziva back as Torres’ secret girlfriend would add an exciting element to the show.

  • Fernanda Torres and Isabella Rossellini join their moms as Oscar acting nominees

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree — especially at the Oscars.

I’m Still Here‘s Fernanda Torres and Conclave‘s Isabella Rossellini joined their mothers, Fernanda Montenegro and Ingrid Bergman, respectively, as Oscar nominees on Thursday, becoming the fifth and sixth pairs of mother-daughter duos to be nominated for acting Oscars.

    More from GoldDerby

Torres, who cracked the top five in the Best Actress odds after her Golden Globe victory, is up for the award alongside Cynthia Erivo (Wicked), Karla Sofía Gascón (Emilia Pérez), Mikey Madison (Anora), and Demi Moore (The Substance). The nomination comes 26 years after Montenegro was shortlisted in the same category for Central Station and lost to Shakespeare in Love‘s Gwyneth Paltrow.

Rossellini, 72, received her long-awaited maiden Oscar bid in Best Supporting Actress, where she was third in the odds, in Edward Berger‘s papal thriller. She faces Monica Barbaro (A Complete Unknown), Ariana Grande (Wicked), Felicity Jones (The Brutalist), and Zoe Saldaña (Emilia Pérez). A three-time Oscar winner, Bergman won Best Actress twice for 1944’s Gaslight and 1956’s Anastasia and Best Supporting Actress for 1974’s Murder on the Orient Express.

Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli were the first mother and daughter to achieve this feat. The former was a two-time nominee for 1954’s A Star Is Born in Best Actress and 1961’s Judgment at Nuremberg in Best Supporting Actress. Garland was heavily favored to win for her comeback performance in A Star Is Born, and a camera crew was set up in her hospital room, where she had just given birth, to film her speech. Alas, Grace Kelly pulled off the upset for The Country Girl. Minnelli received a supporting bid for 1969’s The Sterile Cuckoo before winning Best Actress for her iconic turn in 1972’s Cabaret.

SEE Full list of Oscar nominations

The second pair to join this club were Diane Ladd and Laura Dern. Ladd earned two supporting nominations for 1974’s Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore and 1990’s Wild at Heart. She and Dern then made history as the first mother-daughter thespians to be nominated in the same year when Ladd was up for Best Supporting Actress and Dern for Best Actress for 1991’s Rambling Rose. Dern followed with two more supporting nominations for 2014’s Wild and 2019’s Marriage Story, winning for the latter.

Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson were the third duo and have three nominations between them. Hawn won on her first time at bat in supporting 1969’s Cactus Flower. She received a lead bid for 1980’s Private Benjamin. Twenty years later, Hudson was nominated for her supporting performance in Almost Famous.

Before Thursday, the most recent pair entered the list just two years ago: Janet Leigh and Jamie Lee Curtis. The former received a Best Supporting Actress nomination for 1960’s Psycho, while the latter won that award on her first nomination for Everything Everywhere All at Once — one of the Best Picture champ’s seven wins. Curtis was in the running for a follow-up Best Supporting Actress nomination for The Last Showgirl this year and bagged Screen Actors Guild Award and BAFTA nominations.

Coincidentally or not, there’s one winner from each of the first four duos, three of whom are the daughter. Since Bergman is an Oscar winner, the Bergman-Rossellini pair already fits this trend even if Rossellini loses on March 2. But if Torres loses, she and Montenegro, who also appears in I’m Still Here, will be the only mother-daughter double act to be Oscar-less.

  • Gleyber Torres, Tigers agree to deal: Former Yankees infielder gets one-year deal in Detroit

Gleyber Torres, Tigers agree to deal: Former Yankees infielder gets one-year deal in Detroit

    Getty Images

Infielder Gleyber Torres has agreed to terms with the Detroit Tigers on a one-year contract in free agency. Jim Bowden of CBS Sports HQ confirms the signing and puts the value at $15 million for one year.

Torres, who just recently turned 28 is coming off a 2024 season for the New York Yankees in which he batted .257/.330/.378 (101 OPS+) with 15 home runs and 26 doubles in 154 games as the starting second baseman for the eventual American League champs. Those numbers marked a bit of a downshift for Torres, who in 2022-23 combined had an OPS+ of 116, a WAR of 7.0, and 49 home runs in 298 games.

Earlier in the offseason, CBS Sports ranked Torres as the No. 21 available free agent in the current class. Here’s part of our write-up:

From the files of Contrasting, Simultaneously True Statements: Torres had a disappointing walk year, finishing with the second-lowest OPS+ of his career, yet he’s comfortably a top-25 free agent on the basis of his youth (he’s heading into his age-28 season) and his track record (he has a career 112 OPS+). While we expect Torres will take a one- or two-year pillow contract and render these next comments moot, we do have two reservations about his long-term outlook. Foremost, almost all of his power is reserved for middle-middle mistakes, with him reliably struggling to do much on pitches away; additionally, he’s already a below-average defender at the keystone, something that doesn’t bode well for his chances of providing secondary value as he ages into his 30s. Again, those concerns are likely to be more relevant for the contract after this one, but they’re worth keeping in mind as his career progresses.

For his career, Torres, a two-time All-Star with the Yankees, has an OPS+ of 112 and a WAR of 16.1 over parts of seven big-league seasons. As a 22-year-old primary shortstop for the Yankees in 2019, Torres hit 38 home runs in 144 games.

Signing the one-year pact with Detroit gives Torres an opportunity to re-establish his value by producing more in line with career norms and then re-enter the free agent market next offseason in search of a much larger pact. For the Tigers, who made a surprise playoff run this past season, Torres solidifies a key middle infield spot. Promising youngster Colt Keith manned second base last season, but this winter he’s been prepping for a move to first base.

Reports have surfaced that former New York Yankees infielder Gleyber Torres has agreed to a one-year deal with the Detroit Tigers. Torres, a two-time All-Star, will bring his talents to the Motor City as the Tigers look to bolster their infield depth.

The 25-year-old Venezuelan native burst onto the scene with the Yankees in 2018, quickly becoming a fan favorite with his impressive offensive production and smooth defensive skills. Torres has shown the ability to play both second base and shortstop, providing flexibility for the Tigers as they look to solidify their infield.

The addition of Torres is a significant move for the Tigers, who are looking to build upon their promising young core and compete for a playoff spot in the near future. With Torres now in the mix, the Tigers’ lineup gains another potent bat and a proven performer in the middle infield.

Tigers fans can look forward to seeing Torres don the Old English D and bring his exciting brand of baseball to Comerica Park. Stay tuned for more updates as the deal becomes official and Torres begins his new chapter in Detroit. #Tigers #GleyberTorres #MLBFreeAgency

Former Yankees’ All-Star Gleyber Torres Signs With Detroit Tigers

While it always seemed unlikely that Gleyber Torres would return to the Bronx, the New York Yankees will now officially need a new second baseman in 2025.

On Friday morning, New York Post columnist Jon Heyman reported that Torres is signing with the Detroit Tigers. The one-year, $15 million deal was confirmed by USA Today’s Bob Nightengale.

Torres, 28, was acquired by the Yankees in the 2016 trade that sent closer Aroldis Chapman to the eventual World Series-champion Chicago Cubs. A former top prospect, Torres showed flashes of All-Star potential but struggled to maintain that level of play consistently.

The second baseman made two All-Star appearances in his first two seasons, including a career-high 38 home runs in 2019. But his slugging percentage fell from .535 to under .370 in consecutive seasons before rebounding to a respectable .450 range in 2022 and 2023. In 2024, however, his slugging percentage dropped again, finishing at .378, while his home run total fell from 25 to 15.

After a slow start in 2024, Torres adjusted during the All-Star break, finishing the season with a .293/.361/.419 slash line in the second half. He reclaimed the leadoff spot in August and proved effective in setting the table for Aaron Judge and Juan Soto in the postseason, posting a .744 OPS over 14 games.

Still, Torres struggled in two key areas: baserunning and defense—both major weaknesses for the Yankees in 2024. He finished the season with a -4.6 BsR, ranking as the sixth-worst baserunner in MLB. Defensively, he ranked 31st among qualified second basemen in Outs Above Average.

New York did not extend the one-year, $21.05 million qualifying offer to Torres, meaning the team will not receive any draft pick compensation for losing him. While some believed Torres might have accepted the offer, he will now look to reset his market value in Detroit for $6 million less.

At one point, speedy infield prospect Caleb Durbin appeared to be the frontrunner to replace Torres at second base in 2025. However, Durbin was traded to the Milwaukee Brewers, along with Nestor Cortes Jr., in the deal for Devin Williams, leaving the Yankees to consider other internal options or free-agent alternatives.

Among internal candidates, the Yankees have utility player Oswaldo Cabrera and 36-year-old former All-Star DJ LeMahieu. LeMahieu, plagued by injuries in 2024, posted a disappointing .204/.269/.259 slash line with two home runs in 67 games.

Both Cabrera and LeMahieu can play second or third base, as can Jazz Chisholm Jr., who could shift back to his natural second base position, depending on the Yankees’ offseason moves.

The top free-agent third baseman on the market is Alex Bregman, though his attachment to a qualifying offer would cost the Yankees additional draft pick compensation after they already sacrificed their second- and fifth-highest picks to sign Max Fried. According to Heyman, while the Yankees admire Bregman, they question whether Yankee Stadium’s dimensions are a good fit for his power profile.

Another former Houston Astros star, Carlos Correa, has frequently been linked to the Yankees in trade rumors, though the Minnesota Twins are not currently motivated to move him. Correa, 30, is owed more than $30 million annually over the next four seasons, with vesting options that could keep him under contract at a reduced cost from his age 34 to age 37 seasons.

Aside from Bregman, the best remaining free-agent infielder is Ha-Seong Kim, a Gold Glove-caliber utility player who produced 6.9 fWAR over the past two seasons. Other notable stopgap options include Jose Iglesias, Paul DeJong, Amed Rosario, Yoán Moncada, and 2024 Yankee Jon Berti.

In a shocking move, former New York Yankees’ All-Star Gleyber Torres has signed a multi-year deal with the Detroit Tigers. Torres, who has been a staple in the Yankees’ lineup for the past few seasons, will now be taking his talents to the Motor City.

The Tigers, who are looking to rebuild and compete in the AL Central, are hoping that Torres can bring his All-Star caliber play to Detroit and help lead the team to success. Torres, who is known for his power at the plate and solid defense, will be a valuable addition to the Tigers’ lineup.

Yankees fans are sure to be disappointed to see Torres leave, but Tigers fans are excited to welcome the young star to their team. With Torres now in Detroit, the Tigers are poised to make some noise in the American League.

Stay tuned for more updates on Torres’ move to the Tigers and how he will impact the team in the upcoming season.

Tigers, Gleyber Torres reach 1-year, $15M deal, sources say

Free agent infielder Gleyber Torres is in agreement with the Detroit Tigers on a one-year, $15 million contract, sources familiar with the situation told ESPN.

Torres, 28, spent the first seven years of his career with the New York Yankees after being acquired in a trade with the Chicago Cubs in 2016. He has a career .774 OPS, playing both shortstop and second base for New York. He’ll play second for Detroit as well, having spent the past four seasons at that position for the Yankees.

Torres has good power for a middle infielder but experienced a bit of a dip in his slugging percentage last season, compiling a .378 mark after back-to-back seasons over .450. He hit 49 home runs in 2022 and 2023 combined, but followed that up with a 15-homer season last year. He did have a productive ALCS against the Cleveland Guardians — hitting .364 — helping the Yankees advance to the World Series.

The deal could mean a position change for Colt Keith, who was the starting second baseman for the Tigers in 2024. Detroit is keeping its roster flexible as their prospect base continues to matriculate to the majors. They also signed pitcher Alex Cobb to a one-year, $15 million deal this offseason as the team has just one big contract on its books — shortstop Javier Baez — past the 2025 season.

According to sources, the Detroit Tigers and infielder Gleyber Torres have reached a one-year, $15 million deal. This agreement marks a significant move for the Tigers as they look to bolster their lineup for the upcoming season. • Gleyber Torres agrees to contract with Tigers (report)

Gleyber Torres agrees to contract with Tigers (report)

Former Yankees infielder has agreed to a deal with the Tigers, according to MLB Network insider Jon Heyman. ESPN’s Jesse Rogers reported it’s a one-year contract for $15 million. The club has not confirmed.

Torres’ 2024 was a tale of two very different baseball seasons. He had a rough start at the plate, and his defense and baserunning suffered as his offensive woes persisted. But after a pair of benchings, the tide seemed to turn for Torres.

From Aug. 3 on, serving mainly as a leadoff man ahead of the Yankees’ big boppers, he hit .302 down the stretch and became a driving force behind the club’s AL pennant run and subsequent trip to the World Series. Of the Yankees’ 14 postseason games, Torres reached safely in each of the first 13.

Torres’ Major League career has featured flashes of brilliance. At the time of his debut in 2018, he was ranked as the No. 3 prospect in baseball by MLB Pipeline. In his first two Major League seasons, Torres was a two-time All-Star, hitting .275 with a .511 slugging percentage and 125 OPS+ with 62 home runs and 167 RBIs.

A 2020 move to shortstop, his natural position, exacerbated existing defensive concerns and appeared to contribute to a dip in production. From 2020-21, he had a .366 SLG. The Yankees would later shift him back to second in late 2021, and there he did rebound at the plate, hitting .266/.330/.452 with an OPS+ of 116 from 2022-23, although he has never quite recaptured his All-Star form.

In a surprising turn of events, Gleyber Torres has agreed to a contract with the Detroit Tigers. The young infielder, who has spent the past few seasons with the New York Yankees, is set to bring his talents to the Motor City.

According to reports, Torres and the Tigers have agreed to a multi-year deal that will see him donning the Old English D in the upcoming season. This move comes as a shock to many baseball fans, as Torres was seen as a key player for the Yankees and was expected to stay with the team for the foreseeable future.

The Tigers, who have been rebuilding their roster in recent years, are clearly making a statement with this signing. Torres, known for his defensive prowess and powerful bat, will undoubtedly be a valuable addition to their lineup.

As details of the contract continue to emerge, fans are eagerly anticipating seeing Torres in action for his new team. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development in the world of baseball.

After their run to the World Series, the New York Yankees will need a replacement for a key member of their lineup.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, second baseman Gleyber Torres agreed to a free-agent contract with the Detroit Tigers on Friday, ending his run with the Yankees after seven seasons.

Terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed.

Torres had played the 2024 season on a one-year, $14.2 million deal after avoiding arbitration, and he said in February, “I want to be a Yankee for life.” Despite a strong finish to the year, the team chose not to retain him.

In 154 regular-season games, Torres hit .257 with 15 home runs and 63 RBI. He found a groove after the All-Star break and was moved into the leadoff spot in New York’s lineup, hitting .292 over the second half of the year. During the team’s postseason run, he hit .241 with two home runs and eight RBI as the Yankees ultimately lost the World Series to the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games.

Torres spent two-and-a-half years in the Chicago Cubs farm system at the start of his career before being traded to the Yankees in 2016. He made his major league debut two years later in 2018 and made an immediate splash, earning back-to-back All-Star selections in his first two seasons.

However, the 28-year-old’s production leveled off after his scorching start to his career, causing him to be subjected to trade rumors and questions about his effectiveness at second base. Over the second half of the 2024 season and the playoffs, he proved that he can still be a difference-maker in the right situation.

Overall, Torres owns a .265/.334/.441 slash line in 888 career games, and he has registered 138 home runs, 441 RBI, 460 runs scored and 53 stolen bases.

By joining the Tigers, Torres will bring his experience and postseason insight to a team that reached the playoffs this past season. Detroit went on a remarkable late-season run in 2024 and unexpectedly reached the American League Division Series.

Torres will be joining a lineup that also includes rising stars Riley Greene and Colt Keith, creating a strong combination as Detroit chases a playoff spot in 2025.

As for the Yankees, they must now fill a hole at either second base or third base depending on where they decide to deploy Jazz Chisholm next season.
