  • India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Mohammed Shami returns, Arshdeep ‘rested’ as IND win toss and bowl first

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: India have experienced two very different kinds of victories in their T20I series against England thus far and one more win today would confirm yet another series win at home for them

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: India have experienced two very different kinds of victories in their T20I series against England thus far and one more win today would confirm yet another series win at home for them

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Mohammed Shami is returning to international cricket for the first time since the 2023 World Cup final with India captain Suryakumar Yadav saying that his replacing Arshdeep Singh, who has been rested for the third T20I against England in Rajkot. India have won the toss and are bowling first. …Read More

India have experienced two very different kinds of victories in their T20I series against England thus far and one more win today would confirm yet another series win at home for them. It was almost a walk in the park for them at the Eden Gardens where they won the first T20I by seven wickets with a whopping 43 balls to spare. In the second, though, it took a virtuoso knock from Tilak Varma to take them over the line with two wickets and four balls to spare.

England’s ploy of throwing the kitchen sink at the Indian bowlers, particularly the spinners, almost worked at the Chepauk in the second T20I. The fact remains that they would have probably stuck to that tactic today even if it hadn’t worked at all in Chennai. Such is the Bazball way. They have their task cut out for them, though – in India they are facing a side who have won 15 of the 17 T20Is they have played since they won the 2024 T20 World Cup. India are also unbeaten in their last 17 T20I series at home, with their last defeat being a 2-0 loss to Australia in February 2019.

Moreover, India seemed to have changed their approach to T20 cricket during this period. Gone are the days of top order anchors and middle-order sloggers, they all slog now. Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson have not have too many big opening partnerships but that is largely because they have tried to heave the bowlers out of the ground as often as possible in the powerplay. Tilak has been a revelation at No.3.

Strangely enough, the one player on whom some doubt seems to have crept up since the T20 World Cup is captain Suryakumar Yadav, although the alarm bells are not even visible in the horizon. Suryakumar has scored 12 runs at a strike rate of 120 in this series thus far. Since the T20 World Cup, he has managed only two fifties and scored 242 runs at an average of 23.

In the bowling lineup, it seems pretty certain that Mohammed Shami won’t be playing this time around either. Batting coach Sitanshu Kotak said that the fitness didn’t play a role in the decision to keep out Shami, who has been on the sidelines since the final of the 2023 World Cup. With Arshdeep Singh’s short-pitched deliveries proving to be too much for Phil Salt to handle, it wouldn’t really make sense to drop him halfway through the series. Moreover, Arshdeep has proven himself to be undroppable regardless of the situation as he sits within touching distance of becoming the first Indian to take 100 wickets in T20Is.

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Shami marking his runup

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Don’t be too surprised by this though. Shami had done that in Kolkata and Chennai as well. We will know soon if he is playing or not with Suryakumar Yadav and Jos Buttler standing in readiness for the toss.

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: What to expect in Rajkot

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: The average first innings total in the five T20Is played here is 189. As stated earlier, India scored 228 for 5 against Sri Lanka the last time they played in Rajkot. There were also plenty of 170-plus totals in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy matches held here in November-December. The pitch itself looked rather pale without much grass. All these suggest a high-scoring encounter is on the cards. The chasing sides have had a better success rate in T20 games played in Rajkot.

    Jan 28, 2025 6:13 PM IST

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: A challenging start for Brendon McCullum

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: It hasn’t been a very promising start to life as England’s white-ball head coach for Brendon McCullum. First of all, he has taken over a side that underperformed in the 2024 T20 World Cup and they are now looking quite far away from looking good enough to get a win in India.

    Jan 28, 2025 6:03 PM IST

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: A star turn for Brydon Carse

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: If England had won the second T20I Brydon Carse would’ve been the player of the match hands down. He bailed England out of being all out for a low score by smashing 31 in 17 balls and then he dismantled the Indian middle order, recording figures of 3/29.

    Jan 28, 2025 5:57 PM IST

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Sanju Samson puts in the hard yards

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Sanju Samson arrived at the ground much earlier yesterday than the rest of his teammates and was seen batting against plastic balls on a cement pitch. He later batted on the side nets and appeared rather comfortable playing short-pitched bowling as he geared up the play against the likes of Archer, Wood and Carse.

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Jofra Archer blows hot and cold

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Jofra Archer was pretty much the only bowler who could stop the Indian batters from scoring at will in the first T20I. The story couldn’t be more different in the second. He recorded figures of 2/21 in the first T20I, with Abhishek Sharma going berzerk only after Archer bowled all four of hs overs on the trot. The second T20I, however, marked the first time Archer conceded more than 50 runs in a T20I match. He ended up with figures of 1/60.

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: England’s spin woes

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: They threw the kitchen sink on Indian spinners in the second T20I and that only almost got them to a win. Not to a win itself. Since the start of 2024, England have gone for 6/58 in 11 overs Providence, 2024), 5/67 in 12 overs (Kolkata, 2025) and 6/118 in 14 overs (Chennai, 2025) against Indian spinners.

    Jan 28, 2025 5:18 PM IST

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Could Dhruv Jurel sit out?

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Dhruv Jurel was one of two changes that India made for the second T20I after the injuries to Nitish Reddy and Rinku Singh. India had called in Ramandeep Singh and Shivam Dube as replacements to the squad and it is quite likely that they will slot in the latter. For that, through, Jurel is pretty much the only player wh seems to be replacable in the eleven.

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Livingstone slips up to spinners

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Liam Livingstone is known to play spin well but has looked largely at sea in the two matches thus far this series. He fell to a wrong ‘un from Chakravarthy in Kolkata and then was done by the lift Axar got in Chennai

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Big scores to expected today…

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Of the 12 Indian venues that have hosted at least five T20Is till date, only Wankhede (9.34) and Mohali (9.03) have had a better run-rate than Rajkot (8.91).

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: India’s middle-over aggression

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Since the end of the 2024 T20 World Cup what has set India apart from England is their strike rate in the middle overs. India have gone at 10.07 in this phase of matches while England have gone at 8.90. However, both sides are pretty neck and neck when it comes to powerplay strike rates, India have clocked 9.34 while England have gone at 9.35.

    Jan 28, 2025 4:23 PM IST

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: India’s strength in Rajkot

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: India have been dominant most times that they have played a T20I in Rajkot. The first T20I played here was against Australia in October 2013 and India won that by six wickets. India then lost the second match to be played here to New Zealand by 40 runs in November 2017. Since then, they beat Bangladesh by eight wickets in November 2019, South Africa by 82 runs in June 2022 and Sri Lanka by 91 runs in January 2023.

    Jan 28, 2025 4:05 PM IST

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Suryakumar Yadav’s blitz in the last Rajkot T20I

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Suryakumar can look at what he did on this ground the last time a T20I was played here if he needs some reminding of what he can do on his day. India won the toss and batted first. Suryakumar came in at No.3 and put up a stand of 111 runs off just 53 balls with Shubman Gill. He did most of the scoring in that partnership and later put an unbeaten stand of 39 runs with Axar Patel. SKY finished not out on 112 off 51 balls and led India to a score of 228/5. Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik, Yuzvendra Chahal and captain Hardik Pandya then packed up the Sri Lankans for just 137 runs and India won by 91 runs.

    Jan 28, 2025 3:56 PM IST

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Suryakumar Yadav due a big score

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Murmurs of concerns over Suryakumar Yadav’s form is not unfounded. He relinquished the No.3 spot to Tilak Varma in South Africa and that seems to have worked wonders for the latter. However, Suryakumar himself managed scores of 21, 4 and 1 in the three innings there, and now has 0 and 12 in two games in this series.

    Jan 28, 2025 3:47 PM IST

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Arshdeep Singh two wickets away from history

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Arshdeep Singh has taken three wickets thus far in this series, two of which came in the first T20I and took him past Yuzvendra Chahal as India’s highest wicket-taker in the format. His career tally now stands at 98 and if he gets to 100 today, he will become the first Indian to do so and the fastest pacer to get to the milestone, beating the record set by Haris Rauf.

    Jan 28, 2025 3:27 PM IST

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: India’s two contrasting victories

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: England were hardly able to make anything of themselves in the first T20I but they did more than that in the second. England were all out for 132 despite captain Jos Buttler scoring 68 in 44 balls in the first T20I and India raced to that target seven wickets and just over seven overs to spare. In the second, though, Buttler scored only 45 in 30 balls, but England managed to reach 165/9 thanks to a rear guard act led by Brydon Carse. He then shone with the ball but Tilak Varma stood strong to lead India over the line in a game that turned out to be a thriller.

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: England XI

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Ben Duckett, Philip Salt (wk), Jos Buttler (c), Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Jamie Smith, Jamie Overton, Brydon Carse, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood.

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: India full squad

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Sanju Samson(w), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav(c), Dhruv Jurel, Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakravarthy, Mohammed Shami, Rinku Singh, Shivam Dube, Ramandeep Singh, Harshit Rana

    Jan 28, 2025 3:03 PM IST

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Hello and welcome!

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: This series has gone from being billed as the one in which Mohammed Shami makes his comeback to the one in which Mohammed Shami is highly unlikely to make a comeback. And that is because, quite frankly, there seems to be no place for him at the moment. Arshdeep Singh is Mr.Dependable, as the spinners led by Varun Chakravarthy. It is highly unlikely that Shami will play today with gunning for a series win and most probably wanting to maintain the balance that has worked for them thus far.

India vs England 3rd T20I LIVE SCORE: Mohammed Shami returns, Arshdeep ‘rested’ as IND win toss and bowl first

In the crucial third T20I between India and England, Mohammed Shami makes his return to the playing XI, while Arshdeep Singh has been ‘rested’.

After winning the toss, India captain Virat Kohli decides to bowl first, hoping to restrict the strong England batting lineup and chase down the target later.

South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and elected to bat first in Fridays second and final test against Pakistan at a blustery Newlands as the home side seek to claim the series 2-0.

“It’s hot and we expect the wicket to break up, we want to finish (the series) on a good note,” Bavuma said.

Pakistan skipper Shan Masood said his side were happy to bowl first.

“A bit less grass than usual (on the wicket) but we would have had a bowl anyway,” he said. “Both teams got what they wanted.”

South Africa hand a debut to firebrand 18-year-old fast bowler Kwena Maphaka as one of three changes to their side from the tense two-wicket win in the first test in Pretoria.

He will be the youngest player in the country’s test history, taking over from former spinner Paul Adams.

Opening batter Tony de Zorzi has been ruled out with a left thigh strain and is replaced by all-rounder Wiaan Mulder, who will bat at number three with Ryan Rickelton moving to the opener position.

Spinner Keshav Maharaj has recovered from injury and replaces seamer Corbin Bosch.

Pakistan have made one change to their side with seamer Mir Hamza replacing Naseem Shah.

South Africa have already sealed their place in June’s World Test Championship final and while they await their opponents at Lords, this is scheduled to be their final five-day fixture for them before the marquee game.

South Africa: Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickelton, Wiaan Mulder, Tristan Stubbs, Temba Bavuma (Capt), David Bedingham, Kyle Verreynne (wk), Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, 1Kagiso Rabada, Kwena Maphaka

South Africa win toss and bat first in second Test against Pakistan

Pakistan, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back after their defeat in the first Test. The bowlers will be eager to make an early breakthrough and put pressure on the South African batting lineup.

It promises to be an exciting contest between two strong teams, and fans can look forward to some high-quality cricket over the next few days. Stay tuned for updates on the match.

Trump loses bid to toss New York hush money case, sentencing set for Jan. 10

Former U.S. President Donald Trump leaves the courthouse after a jury found him guilty of all 34 felony counts in his criminal trial at New York State Supreme Court in New York on May 30, 2024.

A judge on Friday rejected a request that he dismiss the New York criminal hush money case against President-elect Donald Trump and set Trump’s sentencing for Jan. 10, less than two weeks before he is due to be sworn in for a second term in the White House.

Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan, in a written order, also said he is not inclined to sentence Trump to prison in the case.

Merchan also said that Trump had the option of appearing in person or virtually for the sentencing next week.

Trump was convicted last year at trial of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in connection with a $130,000 hush money payment his then-personal lawyer Michael Cohen made to porn star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 presidential election.

“While this Court as a matter of law must not make any determination on sentencing prior to giving the parties and Defendants, opportunity to be heard, it seems proper at this juncture to make known the Court’s inclination to not impose any sentence of incarceration, a sentence authorized by the conviction but one the People concede they no longer view as a practicable recommendation,” Merchan wrote Friday.

The judge said that “a sentence of an unconditional discharge appears to be the most viable solution to ensure finality and allow Defendant to pursue his appellate options.”

This is breaking news. Please refresh for updates.

In a recent blow to former President Donald Trump, a New York judge has ruled against his bid to dismiss a hush money case. The case involves allegations that Trump and his company, the Trump Organization, paid hush money to two women who claimed to have had affairs with him.

The sentencing for this case has been set for January 10th, marking a significant development in the ongoing legal battles faced by Trump. This decision comes as part of a broader investigation into the financial dealings of the Trump Organization, with prosecutors seeking to uncover any potential wrongdoing.

The outcome of this case could have far-reaching implications for Trump and his associates, potentially leading to further legal troubles and repercussions. As the sentencing date approaches, all eyes will be on the courtroom to see how this high-profile case unfolds. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

  • Young Maphaka makes his debut as South Africa wins the toss and bats 1st in 2nd test vs Pakistan

Young Maphaka makes his debut as South Africa wins the toss and bats 1st in 2nd test vs Pakistan

CAPE TOWN, South Africa (AP) — Kwena Maphaka became the youngest South African to make a test debut as the Proteas won the toss and elected to bat in the second and final test against Pakistan on Friday.

The 18 years and 270 days old Maphaka broke Paul Adams’ South Africa record of youngest test player, who played his first test against England in 1995 at the age of 18 years and 340 days.

South Africa made three changes after sealing its place in June’s World Test Championship final with a dramatic two-wicket win in the first test at Centurion inside four days.

Australia, India and Sri Lanka all still in the race for the Lord’s WTC final against South Africa in June. Australia could advance to face South Africa if it wins the fifth test against India in Sydney.

“It’s hot and we expect the wicket to break up,” South Africa captain Temba Bavuma said at the coin toss. “We’ve had time to wrap around what we’ve achieved, the preparations for this test have been the priority … a chance to finish off with a good note.”

Fast bowler Mohammad Abbas brought Pakistan close to its first test win in South Africa in 18 years with 6-54 in the second innings at Centurion but tailenders Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen shared a half century ninth-wicket stand and quashed the visitors hopes.

The home team, which has six successive test wins, opted to go with the express pace of Maphaka in place of Dane Paterson, who was dropped after picking up his second successive five-wicket haul at Centurion.

Corbin Bosch was left out after making a stunning test debut in the first test where he took a wicket with his first ball and then made a scintillating unbeaten half century in the first innings which gave South Africa a match-winning lead of 90 runs.

Left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj has recovered from a groin injury and replaced Bosch. Opening batter Tony de Zorzi had a thigh strain and was replaced by Wiaan Mulder as the all-rounder recovered from a finger injury and returned to the playing XI.

Pakistan, which has won just two of its last nine test matches in this WTC cycle, once again went without a specialist spinner. It rested fast bowler Naseem Shah and brought in left-arm fast bowler Mir Hamza.

“A bit less grass than usual, but we would have had a bowl,” Pakistan captain Shan Masood said.
