Aston Villa vs. Tottenham Hotspur: FA Cup 4th round game time, live blog, and how to watch online
All the good Tottenham Hotspur vibes that had started to build again over the last few weeks went straight out the window following Liverpool’s demolition of the Lilywhites in the EFL Cup midweek. There’s no time for Spurs to lick their wounds, however, with a short turnaround before today’s match against Aston Villa.
Spurs are in the fourth round courtesy of a labored victory over National League side Tamworth, and Villa are just a few rungs higher on the English football ladder. The Villains will be fresh as well, having had the week off to prepare while Spurs crashed out of another cup competition.
Regardless, Ange Postecoglou will be keen to turn things around, with a little help from his January reinforcements. Two of those, Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel, were able to hold their heads high in the defeat to Liverpool, and will surely be in the starting lineup with injuries aplenty both in defense and the forward line. Can Spurs overcome whatever fresh hell the universe serves up this time and come away victorious?

#Aston #Villa #Tottenham #Hotspur #Cup #4th #game #time #live #blog #watch #onlineMathys Tel transfer: Bayern Munich forward on his way to England to seal Tottenham move | Football News
Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel has landed in England ahead of a proposed move to Tottenham.
Tel’s agent has posted an image on Instagram of the Bayern Munich teenager aboard a private plane heading for London, and the 19-year-old has landed at Farnborough Airport.
Sky Sports News understands the structure of the deal is still being negotiated between the clubs.
Bayern are understood to prefer a permanent deal or a loan which includes an obligation to buy.
Tel turned down the chance to sign for Tottenham earlier this week after the clubs had agreed a £50m deal.
But in a massive U-turn, Tel has changed his mind after a long conversation with Spurs head coach Ange Postecoglou on how he will be used.
Tel has been in demand this window with Manchester United and Arsenal also showing interest in the France U21 international.
‘Tel has changed his mind – his plane is heading to London!’
SSN reporter Michael Bridge:
“We say never say never on Deadline Day but Tel has done a U-turn and has said ‘yes’ to Tottenham. Incredible news.
“There are reports there are no obligations or options to buy but what we do know – and there is a picture of Tel and his agent on a plane – the plane looks like it is going to London and not Manchester.
“Huge news. Tel has changed his mind…”
Analysis: Why Tel is in demand
Sky Sports’ Nick Wright:
Tel has been a peripheral figure for Bayern Munich this season, playing only 344 minutes across their Bundesliga and Champions League campaigns without scoring. But at 19, he remains a thrilling talent with plenty to offer and plenty of room for improvement.
He demonstrated his immense potential last season, contributing nine goals and six assists across the Bundesliga and Champions League, despite mostly featuring as a substitute, and averaging an eye-catching 1.15 goal involvements per 90 minutes.
Context is important, of course. Many of those substitute appearances came at points in games where Bayern were already several goals up. But his talent is not in doubt. It is what convinced Bayern to pay roughly £23m to land him at the age of only 17 in 2022.
Tel is quick, strong in the air and, crucially, an accomplished finisher. His versatility is another asset.
As shown in the graphic above, Tel’s minutes at Bayern have been split across different positions. He has played the highest share of minutes on the left, where he is able to cut in on his right foot. But he is also adept with his left foot and has been used on the right, as a central striker, and even in midfield.
He would have to adapt to new surroundings in the Premier League, of course. Hitting the ground running would be a challenge mid-season. But it is easy to understand the interest, even if he would not come cheaply to any side looking to sign him permanently.

Tottenham close to deal for Mathys Tel loan from Bayern Munich
Tottenham Hotspur are close to striking a loan deal to sign forward Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich.
The exact structure of the deal is still to be agreed but the Premier League club are working to conclude a move ahead of Monday night’s deadline.
The Athletic reported last week that Tel had indicated to Tottenham that he intended to stay at Bayern and reassess his future in the summer, despite agreements being reached for him to join the north London club and interest from a host of other teams.
Manchester United also expressed an interest in Tel this month if he was available to move on loan. Chelsea, who had a long-standing interest in Tel that pre-dates this window, also made an enquiry.
Tel has appeared 83 times for Bayern, scoring 16 times and providing seven assists. He joined the club from French side Rennes in 2022.
He became Bayern’s youngest ever goalscorer in August of that year, netting in a 5-0 win over Viktoria Cologne to beat the previous record held by Jamal Musiala.
Tel is set to join a Tottenham squad that has been heavily hampered by injuries throughout the season. Along the front line, Dominic Solanke, Brennan Johnson, Timo Werner and Wilson Odobert are all sidelined, while Richarlison and Mikey Moore have also spent time out.
Ange Postecoglou’s side are enduring a tough season and are 14th in the Premier League, having lost 10 of their 24 games in the competition.

‘No doubt about his ability’
Analysis by Anantaajith Raghuraman
Mathys Tel signalled his arrival on the big stage from the bench.
Across 140 minutes as a substitute in Bundesliga and Champions League games for Bayern Munich at the start of the 2023-24 season, Tel scored five goals. His talent had shone through in limited minutes the previous season under Julian Nagelsmann. Aside from scoring five league goals in just 397 minutes, his confidence in taking players on and getting shots away stood out.
That carried over to the first two months of the following season under Thomas Tuchel. Tel finished with 10 goals across all competitions despite making only 10 starts.
His ascent has hit a roadblock, though, with only 462 minutes of action across competitions in 2024-25 under a third manager, Vincent Kompany.
Tel was at his best last season when paired with Alphonso Davies on the left. The Canadian was willing to make the overlapping runs that provided Tel with one-on-one opportunities. Davies and Tel exchanged 88 passes during that Bundesliga season, making it the forward’s most active partnership.
Moving to Bayern from Rennes in 2022 was bound to present obstacles given off-the-pitch changes, the quality of forwards in their squad and the later expectations set by Tel’s hot start. But there can be no doubt about his ability as an inside forward, with the versatility to deliver in other positions.

According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur are close to finalizing a deal to bring Mathys Tel on loan from Bayern Munich. The 19-year-old midfielder is highly rated by Bayern Munich’s coaching staff and has been earmarked as a player with a bright future.Tottenham manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, is said to be keen on adding Tel to his squad to provide depth and competition in midfield. The loan deal is expected to include an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
Tel, who has represented Germany at various youth levels, is known for his technical ability, vision, and passing range. He will add a different dimension to Tottenham’s midfield and provide a creative spark in the final third.
The deal is expected to be completed in the coming days, with both clubs working out the final details. Tottenham fans will be eager to see Tel in action and hope that he can make a positive impact in the Premier League. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing transfer story.

Brentford vs Tottenham Hotspur: Premier League preview, team news, stats & head-to-head
Brentford have won just one of their seven Premier League meetings with Tottenham (D3 L3), with all three at the Gtech Community Stadium ending in a draw.
Tottenham are looking to complete the league double over Brentford for the first time, following their 3-1 win against them at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September.
The team scoring first has won none of the last five Premier League meetings between Brentford and Tottenham, with Spurs coming back to win twice, Brentford once, and two draws.
Brentford are the Premier League’s leading scorers on home soil this season (29) but are winless in their last four at the Gtech Community Stadium (D1 L3). The Bees have gone 13 without a clean sheet at home, last having a longer run in the league between November 2003 and April 2004 (14).
Brentford and Tottenham are two of three teams, along with Wolves, whose games have seen 80+ goals in the Premier League this season (83 for Spurs, 82 for Brentford). The Bees have faced the most shots (429) while only four teams have had more shots than Spurs (333).
Tottenham have lost six of their last seven Premier League matches (D1), with no side picking up fewer points since the start of this run on 22 December (1). Spurs haven’t lost five games in a row since a run of six in October/November 2004, which came under Jacques Santini and Martin Jol losing three each. The last Spurs manager to lose five on the bounce was Osvaldo Ardilles in 1994 (seven consecutively).
Tottenham Hotspur have taken more goal kicks that end in their own penalty area than any other side in the Premier League this season (137), with only one of their 169 goal kicks ending in the attacking third of the pitch; Spurs have the highest goal kick success percentage in 2024-25 (96.4%).
There has been average of 3.57 goals per game in Ange Postecoglou’s 61 Premier League games as Spurs boss, the highest ratio of any manager with 50+ games managed (120 for, 98 against). The fewest numbers of games for a manager to both score and concede 100+ goals is 65 by Roberto De Zerbi, with Postecoglou only two goals away from conceding 100 with Spurs.
Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo has been involved in 17 Premier League goals this season (14 goals, 3 assists), with only four players involved in more. The only Bees player with more goals and assists in a Premier League campaign was Ivan Toney in 2022-23 (20 goals, 4 assists).
No player has created more chances in open play in the Premier League this season than Tottenham’s Dejan Kulusevski (51). His average of 2.5 open play chances created per 90 minutes in 2024-25 is bettered by only two Spurs players in a season on record (min. 900 minutes played): Christian Eriksen in 2015-16 (2.6 per 90) and Aaron Lennon in 2010-11 (2.51 per 90).
Brentford vs Tottenham Hotspur: Premier League PreviewIn what promises to be an exciting match-up, Brentford will take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this weekend. Both teams will be looking to secure three points and continue their climb up the table.

– Tottenham Hotspur are unbeaten in their last five league games, with three wins and two draws.

Kevin Danso pulls out of Wolves move, Tottenham to explore deal for Lens defender
Kevin Danso has pulled out of a loan move to Wolverhampton Wanderers at the last moment and Tottenham Hotspur are now exploring a deal to sign the centre-back from Lens.
Agreements were in place for the 26-year-old to join Wolves and he was scheduled to undergo a medical on Sunday.
But Danso’s representatives informed the Molineux club on Saturday night that they would not be proceeding with the move amid interest from Spurs.
Danso, who played 10 times on loan at Southampton in 2019-20, has made 128 appearances for Lens over four seasons.
Tottenham have been keen for reinforcements in several areas amid an injury crisis that has seen a number of key first-team players sidelined.
In defence alone Micky van de Ven, Cristian Romero, Radu Dragusin and Destiny Udogie have all missed multiple games.
The Athletic reported in the DealSheet Wolves’ priority in the winter window has been the recruitment of a new central defender following the exit of Maximilian Kilman to West Ham United in the summer and the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury sustained by Yerson Mosquera that ended his season in September.
They have already completed the signing of centre-back Emmanuel Agbadou from Reims this month, with head coach Vitor Pereira targeting defensive reinforcements after the team’s switch to a back five, initially under his predecessor Gary O’Neil.
They will now have to switch attentions to other targets ahead of Monday’s deadline.
(Catherine Steenkeste/Getty Images)
Kevin Danso has reportedly pulled out of a move to Wolves, leaving Tottenham Hotspur to explore a potential deal for Lens defender, Facundo Medina.According to reports, Danso, who plays for Augsburg in the Bundesliga, has decided against a move to Wolves after failing to reach an agreement with the club. This has opened the door for Tottenham to make a move for Argentine defender, Facundo Medina.
Medina, 21, has been impressing in Ligue 1 with Lens and has caught the eye of several top clubs across Europe. Tottenham are now said to be exploring the possibility of signing the young defender as they look to strengthen their backline.
With Danso out of the picture, it looks like Tottenham could turn their attention to Medina in their pursuit of defensive reinforcements. It remains to be seen if a deal can be struck between the two clubs, but Spurs fans will be hopeful of securing a deal for the talented young defender.

Mathys Tel transfer: Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich reach verbal agreement on £50m deal | Football News
Tottenham and Bayern Munich have reached a verbal agreement on a £50m transfer for Mathys Tel.
However, the player has not yet made a final decision on whether he will accept Spurs’ offer.
He has also not decided whether he wants to go on loan or permanently, having previously been determined to breakthrough at Bayern.
Spurs face rival interest for Tel from Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli , who are managed by German Matthias Jaissle.
Manchester United have made tentative enquiries about Bayern Munich forward Mathys Tel. However, any potential deal is likely to depend on departures at Old Trafford.
Chelsea and Aston Villa also remain interested in Tel.
But Spurs are hoping more regular game time will persuade him to join them over others.
At £50m, he would become Bayern’s most expensive ever sale.
Stade Rennais – Tel’s former club – have a share of the sell-on in the region of 10 to 15 per cent.

He would have to adapt to new surroundings in the Premier League, of course. Hitting the ground running would be a challenge mid-season. But it is easy to understand the interest, even if he would not come cheaply to any side looking to sign him permanently.
‘Tel a great character but he needs minutes’
Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg:
“He is a great character. He is 19 years old but he has learned to speak German very fast and very well.
“The fans love him. He is always friendly. He says hello to everyone working at the club and at the training ground, and to every fan.
“The fans cannot understand why he might leave Bayern but there is an understanding of the fact that he needs regular playing time.
“He is a fantastic guy, open-minded and always smiling, but he needs to choose the right club right now because this is a very important step in his career.
“He is not a regular player at Bayern. He is far away from that. Now, he has to gain minutes.”
Tottenham Hotspur and Bayern Munich have reportedly reached a verbal agreement on a £50m deal for the transfer of Mathys Tel. The highly-rated defender is set to make the move to the Premier League after impressing in the Bundesliga. The 23-year-old has been a key player for Bayern Munich this season, helping them to a strong finish in the league. His performances have caught the eye of several top clubs, but it seems that Tottenham Hotspur have won the race for his signature.
Tel is known for his pace, strength, and ability to read the game well. He will provide a much-needed boost to Tottenham’s defense, which has struggled at times this season.
The deal is expected to be finalized in the coming days, with Tel set to undergo a medical and sign a long-term contract with Tottenham Hotspur. Fans will be excited to see the young defender in action next season, as he looks to make an impact in the Premier League.

#Mathys #Tel #transfer #Tottenham #Hotspur #Bayern #Munich #reach #verbal #agreement #50m #deal #Football #NewsBREAKING: Mathys Tel rejects Tottenham offer
Bad news, folks. Despite Daniel Levy personally flying out to Munich in order to negotiate with Mathys Tel’s agent, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Tel has rejected Spurs’ offer and will not be joining the club, on loan or permanently.
Shit.
BREAKING: Mathys Tel’s current decision is to reject Tottenham proposal.
Despite willingness to sign him for €60m package and face to face talks, Tel has informed Spurs about his decision.
Barring any surprises, Tel won’t join Spurs… more PL clubs are on it now pic.twitter.com/EzxyYMD3ZD
— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) January 31, 2025
I really thought this one was in the bag, but maybe I should have taken more stock in the fact that Tel was asking for more time to consider Spurs’ offer. I guess the idea of heading to a team in 15th place in the Premier League and possibly with no European football next season was too much of a burden? Or maybe he just wanted more money, or had his little French heart set on Manchester United. Who knows.
But this sucks. Spurs will now need to pivot to other targets — they’ve been linked with Tyler Dibling, Youane Wissa, and Stefanos Tzimas in recent days. Hopefully Lange’s got a few more irons in the fire.
In a shocking turn of events, Mathys Tel has officially rejected Tottenham’s offer to join the club. The highly sought-after midfielder was rumored to be on the brink of signing with the Premier League team, but it seems that negotiations have hit a roadblock.Sources close to Tel have revealed that he was not satisfied with the terms of the contract offered by Tottenham and has decided to explore other options. This news comes as a blow to the club, who were hoping to secure the talented player to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.
It remains to be seen where Tel will end up next, as several other top clubs have expressed interest in signing him. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

#BREAKING #Mathys #Tel #rejects #Tottenham #offerTottenham 3-0 Elfsborg: Mikey Moore seals win as Spurs reach Europa League last 16
Tottenham overcame yet another injury setback to reach the last 16 of the Europa League as their new generation shone in a win over Elfsborg.
Spurs, who were already without 12 players because of injury and ineligibility, lost substitute defender Radu Dragusin when he went down hurt in the second half with the game goalless.
But substitute Dane Scarlett, 20, lifted the mood by heading the home side into a 70th-minute lead before 19-year-old fellow substitute Damola Ajayi made it 2-0.
Seventeen-year-old winger Mikey Moore sealed victory with his first goal for the club in the fourth minute of stoppage time, a wonderful low finish after a powerful run.
Spurs had struggled to find a way through the Swedish team’s stubborn defence in the first half.
Moore went closest before half-time after clever play by Son Heung-min, but Isak Pettersson produced a reflex save to frustrate the home side.
Elfsborg – playing their 16th game in the competition after starting in the first qualifying round – went close themselves through Jalal Abdullai in the second half before Scarlett set Spurs on their way.
