  • Arsenal want Mathys Tel on loan but Manchester United also in the frame | Transfer window

Arsenal are exploring a loan deal for Mathys Tel but face competition from Manchester United for the Bayern Munich forward.

Tel, who rejected a permanent move to Tottenham after they had agreed a £50m fee with Bayern last week, has expressed his desire to leave in this transfer window having played only 252 minutes in the Bundesliga this season.

Arsenal have identified the versatile France Under-21 international, who is capable of playing in a number of attacking positions, as a potential solution to their attempts to reinforce Mikel Arteta’s squad after long-term injuries to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Jesus.

It is understood that they have made contact with Tel’s representatives and have received encouragement that he is willing to move to north London. But Arsenal have yet to agree the terms of any loan deal with Bayern and whether it would contain an option to make the move permanent in the summer. United, who are in the market for a forward with Marcus Rashford set to join Aston Villa on loan, have also registered their interest.

Arsenal had a bid for Ollie Watkins rejected last week, with Jhon Durán’s move to Al-Nassr making it unlikely they will return with an improved offer after Unai Emery insisted the England striker is happy to remain at Villa. Signing Tel on loan may allow Arsenal to wait until the summer to bring in Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig. The Slovenia striker’s contract is believed to include an understanding over a future transfer fee of around £60m.

Oleksandr Zinchenko could be allowed to leave before the deadline, with Atlético Madrid and Borussia Dortmund interested in the Ukraine left-back. His departure would end Celtic’s hopes of an early arrival for Kieran Tierney, who has agreed to return to the Scottish champions at the end of the season on a free transfer.

According to recent reports, Arsenal are keen on securing the services of young Belgian midfielder Mathys Tel on loan for the upcoming season. However, they may face competition from rivals Manchester United, who are also said to be interested in the 18-year-old prospect.

Tel, who currently plays for Belgian club Anderlecht, has caught the eye of several top European clubs with his impressive performances in the youth ranks. Both Arsenal and Manchester United see him as a player with great potential and believe that a loan move could be beneficial for his development.

While Arsenal are reportedly in advanced talks with Anderlecht over a potential loan deal, Manchester United are also monitoring the situation closely and could make a move for Tel in the coming weeks.

It remains to be seen where Tel will end up this season, but one thing is for sure – he is a highly sought-after talent and could make a big impact wherever he lands. Stay tuned for more updates as the transfer window progresses.

    TRENDING RUMORS

Manchester United and Arsenal are both in contact with Mathys Tel‘s representatives in an attempt to force a move before the end of the transfer window, according to Fabrizio Romano. Tel, 19, turned down the chance to join Tottenham earlier in the week after a €60m deal had been agreed with Bayern Munich. Now, though, Tel is considering his options over a potential move in the last 24 hours of the transfer window.

Juventus are willing to activate the release clause to sign striker Victor Osimhen from Napoli when he returns from Galatasaray in the summer, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. The Bianconeri are believed to have identified the 26-year-old as an ideal candidate to replace Dusan Vlahovic, who they are expecting to part ways with in one of the next two transfer windows. An offer worth €75m would be required to activate Osimhen’s clause, but the two Serie A clubs are set to discuss the move as sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli explores whether Napoli would be willing to accept a lower offer.

Chelsea forward João Félix‘s future could be decided on Sunday, with AC Milan leading the way to sign him. The Italian club’s interest is described as “concrete” by Sky Sports Germany‘s Florian Plettenberg, with Rossoneri boss Sérgio Conceição a “big admirer” of the 25-year-old Portugal international. Milan’s cause could be helped by the fact that both Felix and Conceicao share the same agent, Jorge Mendes

    – Bayern Munich are expected to announce that left-back Alphonso Davies will sign a new contract, ending months of speculation linking the Canada international with a move away from the Bavarian club. Bild’s Christian Falk reveals that Bayern officials have sanctioned a contract worth €120m over five years, which will keep the in-demand 24-year-old at the club and end interest from Real Madrid.

Borussia Dortmund have made an offer to sign Chelsea midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka, reports Sky Sports Deutschland. The Bundesliga club are reported to be keen to sign the 21-year-old on loan, and they have included a permanent option clause into their proposal that would enable them the choice to acquire him in the summer for a fee worth €30m. BVB are also said to be still monitoring Lyon attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki.

    CONFIRMED TRANSFERS

    – Tottenham have boosted their defensive options with the signing of defender Kevin Danso from Lens. Danso has joined the north London side on loan until the end of the season with an obligation to sign permanently for €25m. Read

    – Newcastle are rivalling north-east rivals Sunderland for Linfield’s highly rated teenage defender Matthew Orr. The 17-year-old has become a first-team regular after signing his first professional contract earlier this season and the Northern Irish Premiership leaders have already rejected a bid from League One side Stockport County.

A source has told ESPN that Newcastle are considering a move for Orr, primarily to develop the youngster in the U23 side, with Sunderland also ready to exploit existing links with Linfield, from whom they signed full-back Trai Hume for £200,000 in 2022. Sources said that Orr, who trains just two days a week with Linfield due to his determination to finish his college education, is the best prospect to emerge from Northern Ireland since Manchester United defender Jonny Evans and is ready for the step-up to the professional game in England. Reports are swirling in the football world as Manchester United and Arsenal are both reportedly interested in signing Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Yves Bissouma this summer. The 24-year-old has been a standout performer for Brighton this season, catching the eye of several top clubs.

Both United and Arsenal are in need of reinforcements in midfield, and Bissouma’s dynamic playing style and defensive abilities have made him a top target for both clubs. With his contract set to expire in 2023, Brighton may be forced to sell Bissouma this summer to avoid losing him for free next year.

It remains to be seen which club will win the race for Bissouma’s signature, but one thing is for certain – his arrival would be a major boost for either United or Arsenal as they look to strengthen their squads ahead of the new season. • Ongoing transfer saga takes another twist as Wolves now in ‘pole position’ for centre-back after talks elsewhere break down

Wolves are braced for a busy end to the January transfer window. The Old Gold still want to make more signings and could be close to securing one of their longest targets.

Plunged into the relegation zone after losing at home to Arsenal last weekend, Vitor Pereira is very much up against it as he looks to retain the side’s top-flight status.

There are no easy fixtures in the Premier League so having a wealth of options is important. Unfortunately, Wolves aren’t blessed with quality in depth, so new signings are needed before next week’s transfer Deadline Day.

Pereira has already confirmed he wants a new centre-back and midfielder. Consequently, Wolves have made an offer to sign Soungoutou Magassa from Monaco and remain in discussions for a defender.

Kevin Danso to Wolves back on

Despite wanting to sign Kevin Danso from RC Lens for most of the window, Wolves have yet to get a deal across the line.

The Old Gold looked to be well out of the chase for the Austrian after other clubs entered the mix. Both Aston Villa and Juventus have expressed an interest in signing Danso.

However, even though Danso has been in talks to join Juventus, according to Sebastien Denis, those negotiations have now broken down.

Although there is clearly still a lot of work to be done before an agreement can be reached, Wolves are once again viewed as the team in ‘pole position’ to secure the 26-year-old’s signature.

    Loan likeliest option

Working out Danso’s immediate future is top priority for RC Lens, who understandably don’t want the saga dragging for much longer.

While all options remain open, Danso leaving France on a six-month loan before moving on a permanent in the summer is the likeliest outcome.

If Wolves can sign the 26-year-old, Pereira’s chances of surviving the drop will be significantly boosted.

Not only that but at the end of the season, should the Old Gold overcome the threat of relegation, they’ll be in a much better position to negotiate Danso’s permanent transfer.

During his four years at RC Lens, the centre-back, who has two-and-a-half years left on his contract, has directly contributed to 10 goals in 128 games in all competitions.

The transfer saga surrounding the future of a highly sought-after centre-back has taken another unexpected twist, with Wolves now reportedly in “pole position” to secure his signature.

After talks with other clubs broke down, it seems that the Premier League side has emerged as the frontrunners in the race to sign the talented defender. The player’s future has been the subject of intense speculation in recent weeks, with a number of top clubs expressing interest in acquiring his services.

Despite initial reports suggesting that a deal with another club was imminent, it now looks like Wolves have stolen a march on their rivals and are close to securing a deal for the centre-back. This latest development has added another layer of drama to what has already been a protracted transfer saga.

Fans of the club will no doubt be eager to see the deal finalized and the player donning the famous gold and black shirt. With the new Premier League season fast approaching, time is of the essence, and Wolves will be hoping to wrap up the deal as soon as possible.

As the saga continues to unfold, all eyes will be on Wolves to see if they can successfully navigate the complexities of the transfer market and secure the services of the highly-rated centre-back. Stay tuned for further updates as the story develops.

Matheus Cunha quickly became a key player for Wolverhampton Wanderers, showcasing his versatility across the attacking line. Whether playing as an attacking midfielder, supporting striker, or center-forward, the Brazilian adapted effortlessly to each role.

His standout performances have attracted interest from top clubs, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain, with Fichajes reporting that they are keeping tabs on him. Despite his strong form at Wolves, there are rumors suggesting the club could be willing to sell him for over €70 million.

In other news, Sky Sports News reports that Nottingham Forest is preparing a club-record offer for Cunha, with a bid of around £60 million, possibly convincing Wolves to let him go.

MailSport reports that Manchester United are interested in Cunha, but Wolves are said to want around £70 million for a potential sale.

Meanwhile, Give Me Sport reported, citing sources, that Chelsea, Newcastle United, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur are all interested in Cunha, but Arsenal are reportedly leading the race. It has been reported that Cunha prefers to join Arsenal and be part of their title challenge at the Emirates.

The forward is in the final two-and-a-half years of his £60,000-per-week contract but has opted not to sign an improved deal, leaving Wolves in a difficult position. This could give Arsenal an opportunity to make a move late in the transfer window.

Give Me Sport also reported, citing sources, that Wolves have stated they will not sell Cunha mid-season, as his departure could threaten their hopes of avoiding relegation to the Championship.

Manchester United are facing stiff competition in their pursuit of Wolves star Ruben Neves, with reports suggesting they will need to pay a hefty £70 million to secure his services.

The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the Portuguese midfielder, who has been a key player for Wolves in recent seasons. However, Nottingham Forest and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested in Neves, adding to the competition for his signature.

Neves has impressed with his performances in the Premier League and has caught the eye of several top clubs across Europe. With his contract at Wolves set to expire in 2023, the Midlands club may be willing to cash in on him this summer.

Manchester United are in need of reinforcements in midfield, and Neves could be the perfect addition to their squad. However, they will need to meet Wolves’ £70 million asking price if they want to secure his services.

It remains to be seen whether United will be willing to meet Wolves’ valuation for Neves, but with competition from other clubs, they may need to act quickly if they want to bring him to Old Trafford. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing transfer saga.

  • Wrexham sign Reading striker Sam Smith in club record transfer

Wrexham have broken their transfer record to sign Reading striker Sam Smith.

The 26-year-old has signed a contract until the summer of 2028 after the two League One clubs agreed an undisclosed fee.

Phil Parkinson has been keen to add a striker for the last two transfer windows as the club owned by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney chase an unprecedented third consecutive promotion.

Smith arrives at the SToK Cae Ras with 11 goals in 25 league appearances to his name this season for Reading.

Wrexham’s joint top scorers with six goals apiece are central defender Max Cleworth and midfielder Elliot Lee, one ahead of Jack Marriott who has only recently returned from a broken leg.

“Sam’s a player we’ve been pursuing for a while,” says Parkinson. “He’s a striker who’s done really well over the last few seasons and he’s at a great age.

“He’s a fantastic addition to the squad.”

Wrexham’s previous transfer record fee stands at the £590,000 fee paid for West Bromwich Albion striker Mo Faal last summer.

Smith is expected to be the first of two further additions before the window closes on Monday at 11pm. Wrexham are understood to be keen on another forward.

Smith came through the Reading academy but left to join Cambridge United in 2021. He returned to the Select Car Leasing Stadium two years later.

“I’m excited to be a part of the journey now and I want to try and help the club achieve its ambitions,” he said.

The Welsh club had previously targeted Sheffield Wednesday striker Michael Smith, making a big play for the 32-year-old last summer. But the Championship club were reluctant to let Smith leave in the last two windows.

  • Ivan Juric drops verdict on £15m striker’s transfer links

Southampton boss Ivan Juric has turned down any rumors suggesting striker Cameron Archer’s exit. Though the 23-year-old has suffered under Juric, Archer is working to match the manager’s playstyle.

When did you last hear a rational club unwilling to rely on its top season scorer? You may think there’s a marginal probability of this, especially in European football.

But, sadly, these are the present circumstances at Southampton. Still, it would be too soon to judge the club’s decision this early.

So far this season, forward Cameron Archer has been the Saints’ leading scorer in all competitions combined. Except that the 23-year-old’s last goal dates back under Russell Martin’s tenure.

With Ivan Juric’s incoming, Archer hasn’t had even a full 90 minutes once. But, this has more to do with tactical changes than anything else, as per Juric.

Ivan Juric drops verdict on £15m striker’s transfer links

As per the Daily Echo, speaking on the Englishman’s situation, Juric said: “I think Cameron is a very good player and a great guy. We changed the style of the game a little bit and maybe he suffered a little bit.”

Thankfully, Juric expressed Archer’s situation clearly. Had it been otherwise, who knows the forward might have been close to a move.

Witnessing Archer’s struggle for minutes at the Saints, he had been on the radar for various English clubs. In particular, the interest from Leeds was all over media outlets.

However, Juric has declined any move for him currently, saying: “He will stay with us and we will work with him. He’s working hard and at this moment, he’s with us.”

So far, it has been a tough month for Archer in Juric’s setup that emphasizes the role of wingers. Understandably, while Sulemana and Dibling have improved, center-forwards like Archer have struggled.

Still, as boss Juric mentioned, the 23-year-old can turn things around. After all, their top scorer can’t become pointless this soon.

It all starts with a confidence-boosting performance for Cameron Archer. Maybe a clutch goal against Ipswich today, who says no?

Ivan Juric, the manager of Genoa, has finally spoken out about the transfer links surrounding their £15m striker. Rumors have been swirling about the player’s potential move to a bigger club, but Juric has put an end to the speculation with a clear verdict.

In a recent press conference, Juric stated, “I am not surprised by the interest in our striker, he is a fantastic player with a lot of potential. However, he is a key part of our team and we have no intention of selling him at this time.”

This statement will surely come as a relief to Genoa fans who have been worried about losing their star striker. It seems that Juric is determined to hold onto the player and continue building a strong team for the upcoming season.

It remains to be seen whether the player will push for a move despite the manager’s stance, but for now, Genoa fans can rest easy knowing that their £15m striker is staying put.

  • Transfer news live updates: January window tracker as Aston Villa consider Rashford move

Unai Emery says Aston Villa’s transfer window “is not normal” as they aim to sign “two or three players” before Monday night’s deadline.

So far this month Villa’s window has been led by Monchi, president of football operations, with the club relying on close contacts and players known to him and Emery.

It is a far from ideal situation, with Ezri Konsa their only option in central defence plus replacements needed for Emiliano Buendia and Jhon Duran. Emery said:

“The moment we are in this transfer window, it is not normal. But it is coming for different circumstances. We had to accept and take our decision. A few days to close the window and the club is working. We have to do something.

“But I am very happy with how they are responding. We played some matches even in the last month when players were close to leaving.

“Without Diego Carlos last week, Jaden Philogene and Jhon Duran. We were playing matches and collectively, we were getting the performances we needed. I’m very proud of them.”

Villa have been routinely pivoting in transfer targets and presently, hold an interest in several players across a number of positions, including Chelsea’s Axel Disasi and Joao Felix, as well as Marco Asensio from Paris Saint-Germain. Emery added:

“Hopefully in two or three days, we can join a minimum of two or three players more with us. And as well, I’m going to be very motivated with those players to get collectively our objective.”

  • Transfer news LIVE! Tel wants Man Utd after snubbing Spurs, Garnacho latest, Villa eye Rashford, Chelsea chase Ferguson

‘Watkins is our striker’ – Emery reacts to Villa’s evening of transfer speculation

Arsenal target Ollie Watkins is “happy to stay” at Aston Villa after Jhon Duran was sold to Saudi club Al-Nassr in a £64m deal before the transfer deadline.

The Gunners were preparing a spectacular second bid the England international after an an opening offer was rejected, with Arsenal desperate to sign a striker before Monday’s deadline. But Duran’s move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr may end Arsenal’s hopes as Aston Villa are unlikely to sell both strikers this month.

Meanwhile, Mathys Tel has sent Premier League clubs into a frenzy but telling Bayern Munich that he wants to leave. Tottenham have agreed a £50m deal but Manchester United believe they hold an advantage that could prove decisive in the race with Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs – who Tel is reported to have rejected.

That may depend on selling Alejandro Garnacho, however, with United setting Chelsea a new price for the 20-year-old Argentina winger. Marcus Rashford is also searching for a move away from Old Trafford, but only one club looks like a possible option this January.

Guardiola didn’t lose the game in question. John Stones’ 98th-minute equaliser against Arsenal in September seemed colossal in the context of the title race. Not now: or only in the way points have tended to escape Arsenal’s grasp. It was the second of seven games this season they have drawn after leading, despite a heroic defensive display in the second half.

For City, however, the seismic setback had nothing to do with the scoreline. Penalty shootouts aside, they lost a lone game in which Rodri appeared last season: the FA Cup final. They have lost 10 this season: none in the first month after the Spaniard was sidelined, then in a flurry.

Tel wants Man Utd loan move

The 19-year-old Bayern Munich forward is a wanted man this winter, but he has rejected a £50m transfer to Tottenham and reports say he is keen on Old Trafford as a short-term destination.

Bayern would like to keep Tel, but he wants to depart for more playing time after a fading role under Vincent Kompany this season.

“Mathys can imagine a move away. We need to come to terms with the facts,” said Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl this week.

“Whether it’s a loan or a sale, we’ll see. It needs to be right for all parties. Will we do it? Our squad is very well set up.”

Chelsea sign England star Keira Walsh from Barcelona

Chelsea have signed England midfielder Keira Walsh from Barcelona on a four-and-a-half-year deal, the Women’s Super League club said on Friday, with the 27-year-old keen to move closer to her family.

The move marks a return to English football for Walsh after two-and-a-half years with the Spanish club having joined Barcelona from Manchester City in Sept. 2022 for a then world record fee in women’s soccer of 400,000 pounds ($495,920.00).

“I’ll be honest, I didn’t realise how difficult it would be to be away from my family and friends when I went abroad,” Walsh said on Chelsea’s official website.

“It’s no secret that I wanted to come and wanted to play closer to my friends and family. Just having my family back in the stands, it’s something I’ve just wanted for a long time.”

Walsh had been with City since 2014, where she had won one WSL title and three FA Cups, and at Barcelona won eight trophies at Barcelona including two Champions League titles and two Spanish league wins.

The midfielder has made 80 appearances for England, winning Euro 2022 and a runner-up at the World Cup in 2023 and joins a Chelsea team who have a seven-point lead over Manchester United in the WSL, and their next game is at Aston Villa on Sunday.

The signing comes just days after Chelsea made Naomi Girma the first female million-dollar player, signing the United States defender to a for a world-record transfer fee reported by British media to be in the region of 900,000 pounds.

Spurs loan Lankshear to West Brom

Will Lankshear has joined West Brom on loan from Tottenham until the end of the season.

The 19-year-old striker has made six first-team appearances for Spurs this term, scoring against Galatasaray in their Europa League meeting in November.

Lankshear will join up with West Brom on Monday, ahead of next Saturday’s Championship meeting with Sheffield Wednesday.

He told wba.co.uk: “I am delighted to join this great club. I’m looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and I can’t wait to play in front of all the fans.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for me to compete for game time and, hopefully, score goals that can help the club push on to get promoted during my time here.

“Tony Mowbray is a manager who everyone says only good things about and I’m keen to learn as much from him as I can over the next few months.”

Ruben Amorim meanwhile has heaped praise on Alejandro Garnacho for the way he has kicked on and “changed in everything” since the disappointment of being left out of the Manchester derby.

It is seven weeks since the Argentina international and fellow academy graduate Marcus Rashford were surprisingly omitted from the United squad that went on to to secure a late comeback win at City.

The latter’s continued exile is dominating the headlines, and while talk about Garnacho’s future also continues, the 20-year-old’s response to the City setback appears starkly different.

“He changed right away since that game against City,” head coach Amorim said of Garnacho. “The way he understands things and understands that I just want to help him, I just want to win games.

“He changed in everything: the approach when you talk with him, the way he recovers.

“He understands that sometimes I’m a different coach, that I am demanding in my way and sometimes it’s hard with the first impact because it’s a different kind of coach.

“He understands that it is never in a bad way, it’s always for him, but I am different person.

“I think all the merit (goes to) Garnacho. He is improving and we want to continue to improve with Garnacho.”

Spurs still attractive despite Tel snub

“It depends what the players are looking for,” Postecoglou said on potential new signings.

“You can look at it two ways, OK the league form is not great but there’s some pretty big possibilities to have success here in the last three or four months.

“It’s still a big club, it’s still a club that can challenge for honours and it’s whether the player sees the potential that we see right now, or certainly that I see. If it’s too much of a hard sell, it’s probably not the right one for us.

“You need a bit of discipline. The one thing I don’t want to do is bring somebody in who is just going to be another body.

“I don’t think that serves any purpose knowing what we’ve got coming. That aside, there is definitely a need for us and has been a need. That’s why we’ve been looking for a player or two to help us with what’s ahead, but they have to be the right types and fit in with what we’re doing.

“I guess that’s the tricky bit. There are plenty of players available but are they going to be the right ones? That’s the question for us.”

Spurs still attractive despite Tel snub

Tottenham remain an attractive proposition for new players ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline, according to Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs are in desperate need of reinforcements with nine first-teamers unavailable for the trip to Brentford on Sunday.

It has been a similar story across the last two months and while Postecoglou has repeatedly called for his depleted squad to be given help, the club are yet to sign an outfield player going into the final days of the transfer window.

Talks have taken place with Bayern Munich over the potential signing of Mathys Tel, but the 19-year-old forward has reportedly rejected the move.

Tottenham can still end a 17-year trophy drought this term with key Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Europa League fixtures to come during the next six weeks, but have dropped to 15th in the Premier League to raise relegation fears.

Spurs switch to Garnacho after Tel rejects move

Spurs are also reported to on the hunt for Alejandro Garnacho, after losing out on the chase for Mathys Tel of Bayern Munich.

Tel rejected a move to Tottenham after a transfer fee had been agreed between the two clubs.

But the Mail reports that Spurs have quickly shifted their attention to Old Trafford, where Garnacho is available and being courted by Napoli and Chelsea among other clubs in Europe.

Man Utd want £60m for the young winger, according to the Mail.

Totteham in advanced talks with Tomori

Spurs are closing in on the signing of AC Milan defender Fikayo Tomori.

That’s according to Sky Sports, which claims the former Chelsea centre-half is a key target at Tottenham.

Spurs want to add a defender before the deadline on Monday, with Christian Romero and Radu Dragusin both injured and Micky Van de Ven only just recovered from a hamstring strain.

But Sky Sports says that although Spurs and Milan are in ‘advanced talks’, no agreement has yet been made with the player.

One to watch over the weekend.
