  • PREVIEW: Red Wings face off against Flyers in four-game road trip finale on Tuesday

“On this trip, we’ve been able to beat the Stanley Cup champs but the two other teams, in a weight class that’s maybe a little more elevated than ours, we haven’t had success,” McLellan said. “So that’s a little disappointing. We’ve had to fix some things. Do it via video, a little bit on ice and challenge a few players. Now, we’ll see what happens here tonight.”

One player that will be embracing the challenge on Tuesday is Elmer Sodberlom, who the Red Wings recalled from the American Hockey League’s Grand Rapids Griffins prior to morning skate at Wells Fargo Center.

According to McLellan, Soderblom “has earned the right to come up here.”

“The last two to three weeks, really starting to come into his own and we’re hoping he can do that here,” McLellan said about Soderblom. “Obviously, a different league but he’s experienced it before. Hoping that he provides a little injection of life into the group, too. I think that will come out as the game goes on.”

Soderblom, who has 17 points (five goals, 12 assists) in 38 games for Grand Rapids this season, said he’s going to try to make the most of his time back with the Red Wings.

“It’s very, very fun to hear that you’re getting called up,” Soderblom said. “I’m just excited to play.”

The Detroit Red Wings will be facing off against the Philadelphia Flyers in the final game of their four-game road trip on Tuesday night. The Red Wings have had a tough stretch on the road, but they will be looking to end it on a high note with a win over the Flyers.

The Flyers, on the other hand, have been playing well lately and will be looking to continue their winning ways against the struggling Red Wings. This game will be a test for both teams as they look to secure a crucial two points in the standings.

Key players to watch in this matchup include Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin, who leads the team in points, and Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov, who has been a standout on the blue line for Philadelphia.

It should be an exciting game as both teams battle it out on the ice. Be sure to tune in on Tuesday night to see who comes out on top in this matchup between the Red Wings and Flyers.

Venus Williams has not officially retired from tennis and has expressed a desire to continue playing on her own terms. Recently, she took to her Instagram Story to share updates about her return to the court. In the post, she was seen performing stretching exercises in a lavender outfit and appeared to hit a few balls as part of her training.

In an earlier interview with The Irish News, the 44-year-old hinted at a potential return to tennis. In 2024, she competed in only two events—Indian Wells and the Miami Open—exiting in the first round of both. While she has not played since Williams has not ruled out making a comeback.

“I’m not done with the racket yet… At this point, it’s about picking and choosing places I want to be. Last year I really wanted to play in Miami – home – because I hadn’t played there in like five years,” Venus Williams said.

“It’s nice to be in a place where I can pick and choose, but my game is always at a high level. Even if I’m not on tour, I always keep my game quite high,” she added.

Opening up about the importance of self-care, the seven-time Grand Slam champion said:

“You know, taking care of myself—that’s so important….I think we were talking before like how how busy we are. But taking those moments to just breathe, take care of yourself. Whether that’s moving, how you think, how you eat? So that’s like what I’m prioritizing these days.”

As of early 2025, the 44-year-old has not announced any tournaments she plans to participate in. However, with her return to training, this remains a development to watch as she may soon make a professional comeback.
