India vs England LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: Abhishek Sharma has sent the England bowlers to all corners of the Wankhede Stadium.

India vs England LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma took the England bowlers on a merry ride around the Wankhede Stadium as India put up a whopping 95 runs in the powerplay of the fifth T20I. Sanju Samson fell early but that didn’t matter as Abhishek laid into the Enjgland pacers and brought up a 17-ball half-century.…Read More

England captain Jos Buttler won the toss for a second consecutive time and has chosen to bowl first in the fifth and final IND vs ENG T20I at the Wankhede Stadium. India have chosen to bring back Mohammed Shami for Arshdeep Singh and Shivam Dube remains in the side despite being concussed after his innings in the fourth T20I. Harshit Rana being brought on as concussion substitute for him resulted in quite a bit of controversy, with Buttler left fuming at the end of the match. He took a jab at the incident at the toss in Mumbai as well, calling England’s designated substitutes “impact subs”.

Both sides have fought tooth and nail throughout this series and so it is a bit of a disappointment that it has been decided already before the last match. However, England were a wounded side at the end of the epic fourth T20I and one can expect them to give India a big shock if the hosts let their guards down.

At the same time, one can expect a host of changes for India with this being the last T20I before they go on a run of ODI matches that includes the Champions Trophy. Harshit Rana was a standout in Pune and it won’t be much of a surprise if he gets a starting spot. Shivam Dube was also sensational and he is set to be a shoo-in if he is fit.

India fought their way out of multiple holes to win the fourth T20I under extraordinary circumstances. They also had some luck going their way, with the officials seemingly deeming Rana to be a like-for-like replacement as a concussion substitute for Dube, much to the fury of England captain Jos Buttler. However, the fact remains that India won the match despite being 12/3 in the second over and 79/5 in the 11th.

Pandya and Dube put up a partnership of 87 runs off just 45 balls for the sixth wicket. The former eventually fell on 53 off 34 balls while Dube finished unbeaten on 50 off 30 balls. The big fast-bowling all-rounders helped India avoid collapsing for an embarassing total and get to a score of 181/9, the highest by any team in this series thus far.

But England seemed to have been put in cruise mode once again by their openers Ben Duckett and Phil Salt, who blasted an opening partnership of 62 runs in the powerplay before the former fell to Ravi Bishnoi off the last ball of the sixth over. This was followed by Axar dismissing Salt and Bishnoi getting the big wicket of Jos Buttler. England are chasing a target of 182.

England then hit back through Harry Brook, who smashed his way to a half-century in just 25 balls before falling trying one shot too many against the irresistible Varun Chakravarthy. England then had one final hurrah in the form of Jamie Overton but his tactic of trying to farm strike despite having Adil Rashid at the other end did them no favours.

Here are some pointers to IND vs ENG 5th T20I:

    – Abhishek Sharma raised his half-century in just 17 balls

    – England won the toss and chose to bowl first

    – India have rested Arshdeep Singh again for Mohammed Shami

    – Shivam Dube finds a place in the squad despite being concussed in the fourth T20I

    – India have already confirmed a series-win for themselves

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: OUT! Tilak falls and the blitzkrieg stand ends

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: It is Tilak, not Abhishek but any wicket is good for England at this stage. The partnership ends on 115 off 43 balls. Carse digs it in short, Tilak tries to ramp it with a raised bat over his head. He can only get an edge and Phil Salt takes the catch.

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: India cross 100 in 7 overs!

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: The carnage continues. Adil Rashid comes in, he has been almost impossible to score against in this series but doesn’t matter. Two singles off the first two balls and then Abhishek smashes the third over long on. That brings up India’s 100 off the third ball of the seventh over. Abhishek charges at the next ball, lofts it straight back again and that’s another six. Singles off the next two balls, Abhishek on 72 off 25 balls, Tilak on 21 off 10 balls.

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: What can England do here? Nothing much at the moment. Liam Livingstone came in for the last over of the powerplay, starts with a length delivery that straightens after pitching, Abhishek sends it through cover point for a four. Cannot time the hit down the ground next ball and Abhishek takes a single. The fourth ball is short and straight Varma puunches it through cover for a four. Then he reverse sweeps Livingstone past short third for another four. Two leg byes of the last ball, Varma on 19 off eight, Abhishek on 58 off 21 balls.

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: BACK TO BACK SIXES AND FIFTY FOR ABHISHEK!

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: Abhishek Sharma what are you doing to this cricket match! This is getting into Chris Gayle territory. Jamie Overton comes in for the fifth over, his first ball is too full and Abhishek hits it back over the bowler’s head for six. Then a full toss and Abhishek elegantly hits it back over the bowler’s head for another six. That’s fifty in 17 balls and the second highest ever in T20Is.

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: NOW 16 OFF THE 4TH! ABHISHEK TAKES IND PAST 50 IN 4 OVERS

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: This is just an exhibition from Abhishek Sharma! Tilak gets off strike first ball of that over from Wood. Then Abhishek pulls the second past midwicket for a four. The next is sent down the ground with an immaculate on-drive, he can do it all this Abhishek Sharma. He swings at the next one and misses and then he nails that same swing next ball, sends it over point for another six. Abhishek takes a single to stay on strike last ball. Wowza!

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: 18 runs in the 3rd! Lift-off for Abhishek

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: This is astonishing batting from the young opener. He chargers the second ball of that over and smashes Archer through extra cover for four. The next ball is a bumper and a dot, Abhishek picks two off the fourth. The fifth ball is met with a perfectly timed cut over point for a six and the next is almost identical, only better, for another six. Abhishek on 23 off 10 at the end of that over.

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: OUT! Samson falls to Wood!

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: Well it’s the same old story at the end of it all. Wood bowls this into Samson’s hips from wider of the crease, the latter swivels and pulls straight into the hands of backward square leg. Nope, it is not an action replay, this really is a fresh dismissal.

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: Samson needed some treatment on his finger off the third ball of that over and then finished it with a six and a four. The third ball moved into him from a length and rapped Samson on the bottom hand. He takes the gloves off and the physio comes out. Once he is good to go, there is an LBW appeal next ball which England choose to not review.

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: Samson and Abhishek walk out for India…

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: All right can Sanju Samson get a big one today. Or even a good one? So far in this series, they have been some pretty poor ones. Abhishek Sharma at the other end. Jofra Archer is bowling. Short leg and two slips in place, it has been the exact same field to him throughout this series.

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: Hardik Pandya back at the Wankhede

IND vs ENG LIVE SCORE, 5th T20I: The last time Hardik Pandya was at the Wankhede, he was being cheered but the last time he was actually playing cricket here, he was being booed left right and centre. Today all he got were cheers as he did his lap around the ground and it seems safe to predict that the Mumbai Indians captain is going to get a rousing reception.

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: T20 cricket at the Wankhede Stadium

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Largely placid tracks with some fairly good bounce for the seamers, that is what one normally gets to see at the Wankhede Stadium. Eight T20Is have been played here thus far, of which three was as a neutral venue during the 2016 T20 World Cup. India have hosted five T20Is and won four of them. The only team to beat them? England, on December 22, 2012.

    Feb 2, 2025 5:32 PM IST

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Samson should be “allowed failures”, says Manjrekar

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Sanjay Manjrekar has said that players as mercurial as Sanju Samson should be allowed to have a lot of failures as when they do strike, they take the game away from the opposition. “And you see with Sanju Samson, when he plays well, he gets an incredible hundred and puts your team in a winning position. So, such people are allowed failures and maybe a long patch of failures as well because that is the nature of these as a T20 cricketer, where you cannot play yourself, where you have to keep taking those risks that they take, and hopefully there is one innings that just propels him back into form,” said Manjrekar on ESPNCricinfo.

“So, with Samson, I think you should just make sure that he gets as many innings as possible purely because when he gets into form and plays well, he makes it all worth it. If that was another guy who was failing in this fashion and when he got into form just got you 40 or 50, then maybe you would offer him a shorter rope. But I will have a lot of patience with this current version of Sanju Samson,” he added.

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Can Samson and SKY fire?

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav were sharing a behemoth of a partnership and destroying the Bangladesh bowling attack not too long ago. However, that has ended up being the last time SKY scored more than 50 runs in an innings. Samson went on to score two more centuries in the next four innings but in this series, he has scores of 26, 5, 3 and 1.

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Why Shami didn’t play much in this series

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Shami played just one match in this series and there were a lot of raised eyebrows when he was not selected in the first T20I. However, it was all part of the plan. The priority was to get Shami warming up before matches and work closely with the team physios in the nets.

    Feb 2, 2025 5:01 PM IST

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Morne Morkel on Shami potentially playing today

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Morne Morkel was all praise for how Mohammed Shami is shaping up in this series. “Shami has been bowling really well. You know, catching to him at warm-ups, (the ball) is really hitting the glove hard. So, (we’re) very happy with how he’s coming along. You know, he’s probably going to get an opportunity in the next game. We’ll see how things go. But, yeah, (we’re) excited to have him back in the group,” Morkel said.

    Feb 2, 2025 4:51 PM IST

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Could Shami return to the XI?

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Mohammed Shami got one match in this series and there is a chance that the Indian management could want him to get one more before the run of ODI matches. The obvious option seems to be to keep Arshdeep Singh out again but India might also consider getting an extra seamer considering the conditions at the Wankhede. It will be interesting to see which spinner makes way in that case.

    Feb 2, 2025 4:36 PM IST

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Saqib Mahmood’s early havoc in Pune

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Considering the way that match went, Saqib Mahmood’s unbelievable first over of this tour might seem like a distant memory for England. But regardless of the result, that certainly was a moment rarely seen in a T20 match – a triple wicket maiden. It started with Sanju Samson’s wicket and that was followed by Tilak Varma going the very next ball. Suryakumar Yadav managed to keep Mahmood from getting a hat-trick but he couldn only survive three more deliveries. India were thus 12/3 at the end of the second over and they went and won a cricket match from that position.

    Feb 2, 2025 4:30 PM IST

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Jofra Archer could be rested…

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Brendon McCullum had made it clear that the England team management has moved beyond the stage of managing Jofra Archer’s workload, signalling a possible retunr to full fitness at long last for the pace spearhead. Despite this, there is a good chance that he could be rested today as he has bowled all 16 of his available overs thus far in this series.

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Kevin Pietersen wants Javagal Srinath to ‘hold his hand up’ and admit his mistake

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Former England captain Kevin Pietersen was not happy at all with Rana being brought on as a concussion sub for Dube. He stated that match referee Javagal Srinath should accept his mistake in allowing this to happen. “Concussion sub is quite the topic everywhere here atm and my view is…it was NEVER a like for like replacement and the match referee should just hold his hand up and say he got that one wrong. End of event for good and we move on to another great clash this evening,” he tweeted.

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Not a great time to be an Indian captain

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: How about this for a stat from ESPNCricinfo. India’s captains across men’s formats this season – Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav – average a combined 13.12, the lowest for any team with a minimum of 20 innings batting in the top seven.

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: The weather in Mumbai

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: It is comparatively cooler in Mumbai at the moment, which means that you sweat less. Dew is expected to play a role. In the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, teams chasing won eight times in 14 matches. The average score in the competition at the venue was 145. However, teams batting first have won only three T20Is out of the eight at this venue.

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: What Buttler said about Rana being Dube’s concussion substitute

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Murali Kartik, as expected, chose not to ask Suryakumar Yadav or Jos Buttler about the concussion substitute, as expected, and so we never got to know the Indian captain’s thoughts on the matter. But Buttler spoke about it in the post-match press-conference. “It is not a like-for-like replacement. We don’t agree with that,” Buttler said after India completed a 15-run win. “Either Shivam Dube has put on about 25mph with the ball or Harshit has really improved his batting. It’s part of the game and we really should have gone on to win the match, but we disagree with the decision.”

    Feb 2, 2025 3:50 PM IST

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: ‘…the game was played with an impact player,’ says Ashwin

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: If you think that criticising India or the officials, especially the latter, over the concussion substitute fiasco means you are not supporting India, then think again. There can probably be no bigger supporter of India than the legendary Ravichandran Ashwin and even he had to call this one out. “The game is done. India capture yet another series at home. T20I has been a real juggernaut of a win. What was this game? It was like a replica of the IPL. Supersub was there, and the game was played with an impact player,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel ‘Ash Ki Baat’.

“The entire discussion is about how Harshit Rana came in as a concussion substitute for Shivam Dube. Did we forget that it was an international match and play an IPL match? I can understand. It has happened in the past. Ravindra Jadeja got concussed in Canberra, and Yuzvendra Chahal came in as a substitute. I don’t understand this. At least previously, Chahal came in for Jadeja, a spinner for a spinner,” he added.

    Feb 2, 2025 3:42 PM IST

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Question mark on Shivam Dube

India vs England 5th T20I LIVE SCORE: Amid all the hubbub over Harshit Rana being brought on as a concussion substitute for Shivam Dube it may have gone somewhat unnoticed that the latter did suffer a concussion. There has been no messages from the Indian camp over his availability. In case he can’t play, we could see Ramandeep Singh taking his place. Unless SKY and Gambhir and the rest still think that Rana is a clone of Dube.

Alcohol stocks tumble after US surgeon general calls for cancer warnings

Shares of European and American spirits makers and brewers fell on Friday after the US surgeon general called for cancer warnings on the labels of alcoholic drinks.

The consumption of alcoholic drinks increases the risk of developing breast, colon, liver and other cancers, US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy said in an advisory.

“For certain cancers, like breast, mouth, and throat cancers, evidence shows that the risk of developing cancer may start to increase around one or fewer drinks per day,” according to the advisory.

Shares of Jack Daniel’s parent Brown-Forman slipped nearly 3% to $37.10 in morning trading, hitting their lowest since April 2017, while Coors Light beer maker Molson Coors fell 4%.

Constellation Brands, the maker of Corona beer, was down 1.3% while Boston Beer slumped nearly 6%, its biggest drop since last February.

It is unclear when or if the surgeon general’s suggestions will be implemented. The decision to update the label will ultimately be made by Congress.

“Most Americans tend to believe that nearly everything is okay in moderation, thus much as warning labels alone on cigarette packs did little to curb public smoking, I expect warning labels on alcohol to have little effect,” said Michael Ashley Schulman, partner and chief investment officer at Running Point Capital Advisors.

In Europe, shares in the world’s top spirits maker Diageo were down some 3% to their lowest since mid-December, after falling as much as 4.1% earlier.

French spirits maker Pernod Ricard, which owns Martell cognac, Mumm champagne and Absolut vodka, was down around 3.2%, while its peer Remy and Italian spirits group Campari were both down around 3.8%.

Shares of Bud Light parent Anheuser-Busch also dropped. Getty Images

Brewers were also hit, with Budweiser maker Anheuser-Busch InBev down around 2%, and Heineken and Carlsberg down between 1% and 1.5%.

Alcohol stocks take a hit as US surgeon general pushes for cancer warnings

The recent announcement from the US surgeon general calling for cancer warnings on alcohol products has sent shockwaves through the industry, causing alcohol stocks to plummet.

The surgeon general’s recommendation comes as part of a larger effort to raise awareness about the health risks associated with alcohol consumption, particularly the link between alcohol and various types of cancer.

Investors are now grappling with the potential impact of these warnings on consumer behavior and the overall demand for alcohol products. With concerns about potential declines in sales and increased regulations looming, many alcohol companies are scrambling to pivot their strategies and mitigate the fallout.

As the debate over alcohol’s health risks intensifies, it remains to be seen how the industry will respond and adapt to these new challenges. Stay tuned for more updates on how alcohol stocks are weathering this latest storm.

Brewers were also hit, with Budweiser maker Anheuser-Busch InBev down around 2%, and Heineken and Carlsberg down between 1% and 1.5%.

Alcohol stocks take a hit as US surgeon general pushes for cancer warnings

The alcohol industry is feeling the heat as the US surgeon general has called for cancer warnings on all alcoholic beverages. This news has sent alcohol stocks tumbling as investors worry about the potential impact on sales and consumer perception.

The surgeon general’s recommendation comes as part of a broader effort to raise awareness about the link between alcohol consumption and various types of cancer. Studies have shown that even moderate alcohol consumption can increase the risk of developing cancer, particularly in the mouth, throat, esophagus, liver, and breast.

While the alcohol industry has long been aware of these risks, the surgeon general’s call for explicit warnings on packaging could have significant implications for the industry. Consumers may think twice before reaching for that glass of wine or beer if they are reminded of the potential health consequences.

As a result, alcohol stocks have taken a hit, with some companies seeing their share prices drop by as much as 10%. Investors are concerned about the long-term impact on sales and profitability, especially if more stringent regulations are put in place in the future.

It remains to be seen how the alcohol industry will respond to the surgeon general’s recommendations, but one thing is clear: the push for cancer warnings is shaking up the industry and causing some uncertainty among investors.

4 Times Singers Took A Tumble Onstage In 2024

Most likely, if you take a tumble at home or work, very few people know about it. You just get up, dust yourself off, and continue with your day. But if you are a famous singer and you fall down during a show, it’s everywhere. Fans snap photos and videos of the mishap, then post them on social media. So in addition to being red-faced from embarrassment, you have to contend with a windfall of unpleasant notoriety as well. In 2024, some singing celebs suddenly found themselves on their backsides on the stage. They all handled it with grace and dignity. So we doff our hats in respect to Billie Eilish, Luke Bryan, Chris Martin, and Darius Rucker.

Billie Eilish Fell During A Concert In New York

She Sustained A Bad Bruise On Her Leg

Eilish landed with a splat while singing at Madison Square Garden while amidst her Hit Me Hard and Soft Tour. Per foxnews.com, “A fan-captured video shows Eilish walking down a set of stairs before she seemingly trips and falls down. A concert-goer posted a video of the fall, with the words ‘Billie falling in NY,’ written over it, along with a sobbing emoji.” A photo shows a large discolored area on her leg from the fall.

Luke Bryan Tripped On Stage In Vancouver Last Spring

He Slid On A Cell Phone That Was Flung By A Fan

Bryan was just ambling across the stage normally when he found himself on the ground, thanks to a cell phone he abruptly tripped on. A fan threw it, unfortunately. He was in Vancouver, British Columbia, doing his musical thing for the Coast City Country Fest in April 2024. Someone took a video of the moment that “shows Bryan breaking his fall with his left arm, narrowly avoiding falling flat on his back and risking further injury.”

American Idol host Ryan Seacrest ribbed Bryan about it a little. “So, hold on. Before we get going, I just want to check to make sure. Luke, you’re moving OK. You looked all right at the open of the show there. . . . Are you damaged in any way?”

Bryan joshed, “What are you talking about Ryan?”

Chris Martin Fell Through A Trapdoor In Australia

He Was On Tour In Melbourne

In November, during the Music Of The Spheres world Tour, Martin apparently wasn’t looking where he was going for an instant and slid backwards through a trapdoor on stage. “In a video obtained by Fox News Digital, a pair of hands can be seen reaching out from the trapdoor to brace Martin’s fall and prevent any injuries.” Boy, was he lucky! Martin informed the audience that his fall was “not planned.”

Darius Rucker Seemed To Trip On A Monitor In October In South Carolina

He Joked About It With Good Humor Afterward

Rucker was in Charleston at the Riverfront Revival with Hootie & the Blowfish when he fell face-first after he apparently tripped over a monitor. He dealt with it like a real trouper. Per the outlet, Rucker quipped, “We’ve been doing this all summer. I hadn’t fell once. But I busted my a– in my hometown.”

    1. Taylor Swift – During a high-energy performance of her hit song "Shake It Off," Taylor Swift tripped over a microphone cord and took a tumble on stage. Ever the professional, she quickly got back up and continued the show without missing a beat.
    2. Justin Bieber – While dancing enthusiastically to his latest single "Peaches," Justin Bieber lost his footing and fell to the ground in front of thousands of screaming fans. Despite the embarrassing moment, Bieber laughed it off and finished the song with a smile on his face.
    3. Ariana Grande – Known for her powerful vocals and stunning performances, Ariana Grande took a misstep during a choreographed dance routine and stumbled on stage. With grace and poise, Grande recovered and continued singing flawlessly, proving that even the biggest stars can have a momentary slip-up.
    4. Harry Styles – During a particularly energetic performance of "Watermelon Sugar," Harry Styles slipped on a wet spot on stage and landed on his back. The crowd gasped in shock, but Styles quickly got up and assured everyone he was alright before finishing the song with a smile. The incident only added to his reputation as a charismatic and charming performer.

Markets Tumble to Close a Record Year–What’s Next for 2025?

The market’s party took a pause Monday as U.S. stocks slid in one of the final trading days of 2024. The Dow (DIA) dropped 1.2% (down 505 points), the S&P 500 (SPY) lost 1.2%, and the Nasdaq (NASDAQ:QQQ) tumbled 1.4%. But let’s not lose perspective2024 has been a blockbuster year, with the S&P 500 and Dow soaring 23% and 14%, respectively, their best performance since 2021. The Nasdaq? Up a jaw-dropping 30%, heading into its longest quarterly winning streak since 2021. Monday’s dip? It’s likely just year-end profit-taking in a thinly traded market, as investors eye the famed “Santa Claus Rally,” which historically fuels a January bounce.

Economic tea leaves are already swirling for 2025. Goldman Sachs is calling for a rate cut trifecta, starting with a 25-basis-point trim in March, followed by cuts in June and September, to land in a sweet spot of 3.5%-3.75%. And it’s not just about rates. Goldman also expects the Fed to wind down its balance sheet runoff by mid-year. Meanwhile, Monday’s data was a mixed bagChicago PMI fell short of expectations, keeping investors wary about growth momentum. On the bright side, Treasury yields eased, offering a breather for the growth-heavy tech sector.

Over in the corporate world, Boeing (NYSE:BA) had a rough day, dropping over 4% after a tragic plane crash in South Korea. In the energy space, crude oil ticked up slightlyWTI and Brent both rose 0.8%but the broader picture isn’t so rosy, with both benchmarks looking at annual losses tied to softening Chinese demand. As investors wind down 2024, the real question is whether January will come roaring in with a rally or start with a reset. Either way, the stage is set for what promises to be an action-packed 2025.
