  • Tyrone Tracy Jr. makes it no secret which QB he wants the Giants to select

It might have been three or four years later than they should have made this decision, but the New York Giants finally moved on from Daniel Jones in the middle of the 2024 campaign. Drew Lock had one good game down the stretch of the season, and Tommy DeVito had a couple of solid showings in 2023, but neither of those guys profile as future starters for a winning team. Given that simple fact, Joe Schoen must look to bring in a quarterback this upcoming offseason.

The best way for Schoen to get an established quarterback would be through free agency or in a trade, but with Sam Darnold and Kirk Cousins likely being the best option on both fronts, the Giants ought to find their solution in the NFL Draft.

It is far from a slam dunk that the Giants will land one of the two clear-cut best quarterbacks in this class — Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders — given the fact that they currently hold the No. 3 overall pick, but there certainly is a path to New York getting to select its quarterback of the future.

If either the Tennessee Titans or Cleveland Browns pass on a quarterback, the Giants will be handed one at No. 3 overall. Plus, there’s always the option of trading up (although Schoen almost certainly would prefer to avoid that).

Assuming the Giants want to select a quarterback in the first round, the only question is which quarterback of Ward or Sanders would they prefer? Saquon Barkley successor Tyrone Tracy Jr. gave his pick to Tyler Sullivan of the NY Post on Saturday.

“Who do I think? I mean, to be honest with you, I’m a fan of Cam Ward,” Tracy told the New York Post. “I think that the passing and the running, I think that’s where the league is shifting to. Just off of [head coach Brian Daboll], his offense. We have a whole bunch of QB runs. We have a whole bunch of situations where the QB has to run. Not saying other quarterbacks in the draft can’t run. I just know Cam Ward is the best. Off of film and stuff like that.”

Tracy is of the belief that the Giants should select Cam Ward if given the chance, citing his dual-threat ability as a major reason why. Sanders is an excellent pocket passer, but as Tracy notes, the NFL nowadays is shifting to favoring quarterbacks who can pass and run. Jayden Daniels, Josh Allen, and Jalen Hurts, three of the four remaining quarterbacks in the NFL playoffs, all have elite rushing ability, and Patrick Mahomes is an underrated runner as well. This isn’t to say Ward will be like any of those three, but he did show an ability to both pass and run at a high level at the University of Miami.

While Tracy wasn’t shy when it came to pointing out his favorite quarterback, he also was quick to point out that he’d be happy with either option.

“He’s my favorite. This is opinionated. But at the same time, whoever they choose to pick — obviously, my opinion holds zero weight. I do want to put that out there. My opinion holds zero weight.”

At the end of the day, this will all come down to how the draft shakes out. Sure, the Giants could trade up to get their choice between one of the two quarterbacks, but do they really want to mortgage their future just to move up a couple of spots? Assuming they don’t, the Giants might end up with one or neither of these quarterbacks on the board.

Hopefully, for Tracy’s sake, the Giants can catch a rare break and end up with Ward.

Tyrone Tracy Jr., the standout wide receiver from the University of Iowa, has made it clear that he has a preferred quarterback for the New York Giants to select in the upcoming NFL Draft. Tracy, who is known for his speed and agility on the field, recently expressed his admiration for quarterback prospect Malik Willis from Liberty University.

In a recent interview, Tracy stated, “I believe Malik Willis is the perfect fit for the Giants. His dual-threat abilities and strong arm would bring a new dynamic to the offense and help us compete at a high level in the NFC East.”

Tracy’s endorsement of Willis has sparked speculation among fans and analysts about the Giants’ potential draft plans. With the team in need of a long-term solution at quarterback, many believe that selecting Willis could be a smart move for the franchise.

As the draft approaches, all eyes will be on the Giants to see if they heed Tracy’s advice and select Willis as their future signal-caller. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

  • 2025 NFL Draft: Giants’ Tyrone Tracy Jr. reveals which QB he wants New York to select

The New York Giants are once again on the hunt for a franchise quarterback. The organization dipped its toe in these waters a year ago but ultimately decided to give Daniel Jones another crack at solidifying himself as the franchise’s signal caller. He was released in late November. Now, the team is diving headfirst into the quarterback market, with the NFL Draft being the most likely place they’ll turn to bring one aboard.

New York currently owns the No. 3 overall pick at the 2025 NFL Draft and if it were up to Tyrone Tracy Jr., he’d pick Miami quarterback Cam Ward. Tracy was asked directly who the Giants should add at quarterback and the rising sophomore running back was quick to highlight Ward as his favorite due to his duel-threat ability.

Off of film and stuff like that.

“He’s my favorite. This is opinionated. But at the same time, whoever they choose to pick — obviously, my opinion holds zero weight. I do want to put that out there. My opinion holds zero weight.”

Of course, even if New York agrees with Tracy and has identified Ward as its top choice at quarterback, it’s not exactly a straightforward pursuit. Both the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns — who own the No. 1 and No. 2 pick at the draft — could also be in the market for a quarterback this offseason, which could take Ward off the board before the Giants are even on the clock, adding another wrinkle to the team’s QB dilemma.

In his latest mock draft, CBS Sports NFL Draft expert Ryan Wilson has Ward coming off the board with the top overall pick and heading to Tennessee.

In 13 games played for the Hurricanes in 2024, Ward completed 67.2% of his passes while throwing for 4,313 yards passing and 39 touchdowns with just seven interceptions. He also rushed for 204 yards and four more scores.

In a recent interview with Giants’ wide receiver Tyrone Tracy Jr., he revealed his top pick for the team in the 2025 NFL Draft: quarterback Ryan Johnson from Alabama. Tracy praised Johnson’s leadership skills, arm strength, and decision-making abilities, stating that he believes Johnson has what it takes to lead the Giants to success in the future. With the draft just around the corner, all eyes will be on the Giants to see if they will take Tracy’s advice and select Johnson as their next franchise quarterback. • Tyrone Tracy Jr. knows which quarterback he wants Giants to draft

The New York Giants are back in the market for a quarterback and many believe they will select one in the 2025 NFL draft where Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and Miami’s Cam Ward top the class.

Throughout the season, the Giants scouted Sanders and Ward intensely and have gone on to spend “significant time” with the former during the early days of the 2025 Senior Bowl.

Assuming the Giants do land either Sanders or Ward, the locker room is ready to embrace them. But if running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. had a say in the matter, he’d prefer general manager Joe Schoen call Cam Ward’s name.

“To be honest with you, I’m a fan of Cam Ward,” Tracy told Brandon London of the New York Post. “Just because I think the passing and the running, that’s where the league is shifting to, and just off of Dabes’ offense, we have a whole bunch of quarterback runs and situations where the quarterback has to run.

“I’m not saying other quarterbacks in the draft can’t run. I just know Cam Ward is the best off of film. He’s my favorite.”

There has been increasing debate about Brian Daboll’s offensive system and how Sanders, a noted pocket passer, would fit in. Some argue that the designed quarterback runs were an added wrinkle for Daniel Jones, but those same schemes persisted when Drew Lock took over.

Would Sanders be able to survive in New York as a pure pocket passer behind an offensive line that while improved, still struggled in pass protection? Would Daboll value his accuracy over his athleticism?

Tracy’s insight would seem to suggest Ward is the better overall system fit.

“Whoever comes in, they’re going to have to be passionate, just because Dabes is passionate,” Tracy said. “He wants a winner. He wants someone that has that high IQ but is also a leader at the same time.”

Ultimately, Tracy was just sharing his personal opinion and admits it means nothing to Schoen or Daboll.

“Obviously, my opinion holds zero weight. I do want to put that out there. My opinion holds zero weight,” he said with a laugh.

The Giants hold the third overall selection in April’s draft and there’s no guarantee Sanders or Ward even make it to them. But if they do end up having a choice between the two, it will be interesting to see who they pick.

With the NFL Draft quickly approaching, Iowa wide receiver Tyrone Tracy Jr. has made it known which quarterback he believes the New York Giants should select. As a talented playmaker himself, Tracy Jr. has his eye on a quarterback who he believes can help lead the Giants to success in the coming seasons.

In a recent interview, Tracy Jr. expressed his support for North Carolina quarterback Sam Howell, praising his leadership, arm strength, and ability to make plays both inside and outside the pocket. Tracy Jr. believes that Howell’s skill set would be a perfect fit for the Giants’ offense and could help elevate the team to new heights.

While Howell is just one of many talented quarterbacks in this year’s draft class, Tracy Jr.’s endorsement carries weight as a player who knows what it takes to succeed at the highest level. As the Giants weigh their options leading up to the draft, they may want to consider Tracy Jr.’s input on which quarterback could help lead the team to future success.

Giants’ Malik Nabers practices; Tyrone Tracy cleared to play

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — New York Giants rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers and running back Tyrone Tracy Jr. practiced Friday for the first time this week, and there seems to be a good chance both are active Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts at MetLife Stadium.

Nabers is officially listed as questionable with a toe injury. Tracy was not given an injury designation for Sunday’s game, meaning he has been cleared to play. Both were officially listed as limited participants in practice.

Coach Brian Daboll said before Friday’s practice that he was “hopeful” both would be ready for Sunday’s game against the Colts. Nabers was on the field moving without any noticeable limitations during the early part of practice open to the media.

It didn’t look all that promising earlier in the week.

Nabers, the sixth pick in this year’s draft, is just 31 receiving yards from reaching 1,000 for the season. His 97 receptions also lead the Giants, and his 155 targets are tops in the NFL despite Nabers having missed two games earlier this season because of a concussion.

“Any opportunity I have to go out there on the football field and play with my brothers, whether I’m nicked up or not,” said Nabers, who has played through injury throughout the second half of the season. “I know a lot of guys are battling a lot of injuries in the facility and in the building right now — they still continue to go out there and ball.

“I’m going to be right there with those guys if I can and continue to go out there with those guys and ball out.”

New York (2-13) is looking to snap a franchise-record 10-game skid on Sunday. It also is trying to avoid being the first team in NFL history to finish 0-9 at home in a season.

Tracy, a fifth-round pick out of Purdue, has 721 yards rushing in 15 games and 10 starts. He’s 16 yards shy of reaching 1,000 total yards from scrimmage as a rookie.

While Nabers and Tracy look likely to be on the field in Week 17, starting center John Michael Schmitz (ankle), middle linebacker Micah McFadden (neck), cornerback Greg Stroman Jr. (shin/shoulder) and safety Raheem Layne (knee) were ruled out for Sunday.

The New York Giants received some encouraging news on the injury front as rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers returned to practice on Wednesday. Nabers had been dealing with a hamstring injury that had sidelined him for the past few weeks, but he was able to participate in individual drills and team periods during practice.

In addition to Nabers’ return, veteran wide receiver Tyrone Tracy was cleared to play after missing the previous game with a shoulder injury. Tracy’s presence will provide a boost to the Giants’ receiving corps, as he has been a reliable target for quarterback Daniel Jones this season.

Head coach Joe Judge expressed optimism about both players’ availability for the upcoming game, praising their work ethic and dedication to rehabbing their injuries. With Nabers back on the field and Tracy cleared to play, the Giants’ offense should receive a significant boost as they look to secure a crucial win in their playoff push.
