Oregon is vying to remain perfect away from Matthew Knight Arena Saturday afternoon at Minnesota, where it has never won.
The No. 15 Ducks (16-3, 5-3 Big Ten) have suffered three home losses but are coming off a win over Washington at MKA on Tuesday and are one of just six Division I teams undefeated in true road games this season. The other five have each lost multiple neutral site games, leaving UO as the only team yet to suffer a loss not on its home court this season.
“We know we’ve obviously dropped a couple at home that we needed to win, so it puts a little bit more emphasis on the road,” forward Brandon Angel said. “Wherever we are, we’re all we got and frankly all we need. When we’re on the road and it’s just us, we’re going to come locked in to every game, prepare the same way we would. The big thing on the road is provide our own energy.”
For Oregon to remain unblemished on Saturday (1 p.m., Big Ten Network) at Williams Arena it will need to beat a suddenly surging Minnesota squad that is coming off back-to-back wins against Michigan and at Iowa. Those wins sent the Golden Gophers (10-9, 2-6) surging from No. 137 to No. 104 in NET, making today’s matchup a Quadrant 2 game on Oregon’s resume, at least for now.
“Old building, really good basketball building,” Oregon coach Dana Altman said. “Those old buildings (are) really noisy and they’re on a roll. Had a big win against Michigan last week and I understand they went to Iowa and won tonight. So we’re going to have a team that’s playing with a lot more confidence than they were a couple of weeks ago and we’re going to have to play awfully well.”
The Ducks have never won in three trips to Minnesota, though the last came in 2001. UO is just 3-6 in the all-time series, with the last meeting in 2002 at Mac Court, a 90-81 Oregon win.
Though the Gophers have also suffered three conference home losses, they’ve fared much better the past week and have one of the conference’s leading scorers in Dawson Garcia (19.1 points, 7.5 rebounds).
Oregon’s success away from home has been fueled by its depth, which was back on display against Washington as well. Five different players have led the Ducks in scoring during their eight games away from Eugene, with Jackson Shelstad having done so three times and TJ Bamba twice.
“I think it speaks to how much we’re together,” Bamba said. “We all bought in and how much we actually like each other.”
The No. 15 Oregon men’s basketball team is gearing up for a tough road test as they take on a surging Minnesota team. The Ducks have been dominant away from Eugene so far this season, boasting an undefeated record on the road.
Oregon will need to bring their A-game against a Minnesota squad that has been playing some of their best basketball as of late. The Golden Gophers have won five of their last six games and are looking to make a statement against a ranked opponent.
The Ducks will rely on their balanced scoring attack and stifling defense to try and come out on top in what promises to be a competitive matchup. With the leadership of head coach Dana Altman and the talent of players like Chris Duarte and Eugene Omoruyi, Oregon is poised to continue their road success.
Fans can expect an exciting game as these two teams battle it out on the court. Will the Ducks be able to maintain their undefeated streak away from home, or will Minnesota pull off the upset? Tune in to find out.

FC Juarez Bravas went on the road for the first time in the 2025 clausura season and played Chivas de Guadalajara to a scoreless draw on Thursday night. The result keeps the Bravas undefeated on the season after three matches. They won their first two matches at home versus Puebla and Necaxa.
It was a hard fought match with plenty of back and forth up until the 67th minute when Chivas fullback Diana Rodriguez received a second yellow card that led to a red card. Still, FC Juarez was unable to capitalize on the one-player advantage they had in the final 20+ minutes of the match to put the ball in the back of the net. When all was said and done the goalkeepers for each team, Blanca Felix for Chivas and Christina Holguin for Bravas, were vital to the result and both had a couple of superior saves on net the help keep each of their teams with a clean sheet.
The Bravas have yet to concede a goal this season, in over 270 minutes of play.
With this latest result the Bravas have moved up to fourth place in the general standings table, having obtained seven points after three matches as a result of two wins and one draw. Ahead of them in the standings is Club America with nine points as a result of winning all three of their matches and Pachuca and Chivas who also have seven points but are head of FC Juarez due to goal differential.

What’s next for the Bravas?
Up next for the Bravas will be a home match on Monday afternoon against Pumas. The Pumas will come into the match fresh off of a dominating 5-1 win against Santos Laguna. They are two places behind the Bravas, in 6th place with two wins and a loss thus far this season.
The match will kickoff at Benito Juarez Olympic Stadium at 3:45 pm. The time was moved up earlier in the day due to inclement weather expected to hit the Borderland on Monday. The match will be streamed on FC Juarez official YouTube Channel.

Bravos host Cruz Azul
FC Juarez will host their 2025 clausura season home opener Saturday afternoon when they host Cruz Azul. Cruz Azul finished in first place in the general standings table last season before making an early exit in the playoffs. Both teams came into Saturday afternoon’s match with a season opening draw with identical circumstances. The Bravas tied 1-1 at Mazatlan last Friday, while Cruz Azul also played Atlas to a 1-1 draw at home. Both teams took the lead in the first half and into the locker room at halftime only to concede the equalizer halfway through the second half to their opponent.
Saturday’s match will be the home debut of Bravos new technical director/head coach Martin Varini. The Uruguayan, Varini, was introduced as the club’s new technical director/head coach on November 29th. He is 33 years old, making him the youngest head coach in all of Mexico’s first division.
Fans in attendance on Saturday will experience Benito Juarez Olympic Stadium’s new cashless system. Prior to the start of the season opener last week, Luis Rodriguez, the Executive President of FC Juarez spoke with the media in what he jokingly called a ‘State of the Union’ address. In his conference he held an open forum where he addressed all matters having to do with both the male and female teams for FC Juarez. He commented on the decision to go ‘cashless’ at all FC Juarez games and what he expects that experience to be like for fans moving forward.
Rodriguez also commented on the club’s departure and termination of their contract with Fox Sports Mexico and why the decision was made. The El Paso native said the team is actively talking with other television networks to see what provider will broadcast their home matches. On Thursday of this week the club announced that TV Azteca will be the Bravos television partner moving forward in Mexico. Nothing will change stateside as the Bravos home matches will continue to be broadcast on Fox Deportes, while certain matches will be picked up by FS1 and FS2 in English.
Saturday’s home opener scheduled for 4 p.m. will be picked up by FS1 and be broadcast in English while also being televised in Spanish by FOX Deportes.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Florida capped its nonconference season with an 85-45 rout of Stetson, led by Alijah Martin’s 18 points. Will Richard scored 17, and Walter Clayton Jr. chipped in 12 in the winning effort.
The Gators jumped out to a 17-5 lead in the opening minutes and never looked back. Florida’s defense led the way, holding Stetson to 26.5% from the field and just 3-for-24 from 3-point range. The Gators picked up a season-high 12 steals, including four from Martin.
Florida’s defense translated to offense over and over again, as the Gators posted a staggering 34-2 advantage in fast break points.
The Gators took a 46-27 lead into halftime, then opened the second half on an 8-0 run and ultimately limited the Hatters to just 18 second-half points.
Records: Florida 13-0; Stetson 2-11
Next Up: Saturday, Jan. 4, 11 a.m., at #10 Kentucky, ESPN

Head Coach Todd Golden
Opening statement…
“Just thought we did a really good job of taking advantage of another opportunity to play. This was a game where we were projected to win by a lot, and something that we talk to our guys about every day is just taking advantage of the opportunity to play and not playing to the score or playing to what the expectation should be. There were a lot of things that we could’ve done better, but I thought our effort and intent, it was pretty good all day. I thought we guarded really well, especially in the second half, limited them to 18 points. Did a better job on the glass in the second half, too. Took a little bit better care of the ball. Didn’t shoot it very well. I thought we missed some good looks. But again, process over result, and I thought we did a good job, big picture-wise. Now it’s on to conference play. Just really excited to spend the next week preparing for a great opportunity in Lexington next Saturday.”
On what he saw defensively with UF getting a season-high 12 steals…
“We’ve continued to play better defensively. Our effort and our energy have been really good. We’ve been disruptive. These last few games, we’ve had a lot of opportunities to switch in ball screens, and our bigs have done a good job keeping guys in front. And then when we are in the situation where they’re trying to isolate or drive off those switches, we’ve done a good job of stripping and ripping, putting pressure, ripping and getting back to our man so they can’t kick it out for threes, which led to some of those live ball turnovers. For us to be a complete team, we knew we had to get a lot better defensively, and I think we are continuing to improve on that end.”
Senior G Walter Clayton Jr.
On the team’s preparedness for conference play…
“I feel like we’re prepared, obviously some things that we have to fix up. It’s been a lot of learning through winning. If we continue to learn and not be complacent, I think we’re ready.”
Grad G Alijah Martin
On the defensive improvement this season…
“That was something we focused on this offseason, was being better defensively and forcing turnovers. We’re seeing that it’s possible, and that’ll help us going forward.”
Senior G Will Richard
On coming out prepared for this game, maintaining early season momentum…
“For us, it’s just not getting content with everything. It’s hard to come back and focus in, but I think we did a great job of coming back in and having the same mentality as the rest of the games leading up to the break. It was important to come out and attack this game the way we did the rest of them.”
The Florida Gators dominated the Stetson Hatters in a 84-55 victory to finish their nonconference schedule undefeated. The Gators showcased their depth and talent as they outscored Stetson in every quarter.
Florida’s defense was suffocating, holding Stetson to just 32% shooting from the field. Offensively, the Gators were led by standout performances from Keyontae Johnson and Tre Mann, who combined for 35 points.
The win over Stetson caps off an impressive nonconference slate for the Gators, who are now 10-0 heading into conference play. Florida has shown they have the potential to be a force to be reckoned with this season.
With their strong start, the Gators have their sights set on making a deep run in the NCAA tournament. Keep an eye on Florida as they continue to make noise in the college basketball world.

It’s been a fun first eight weeks of the season.
It’s flown by, hasn’t it?
I don’t want to suggest things have gone exactly as expected — because they haven’t. But 17 of the teams that were in the CBS Sports Preseason Top 25 And 1 college basketball rankings remain in Monday morning’s updated CBS Sports Top 25 And 1 daily college basketball rankings, including each of the preseason’s top 12 teams.
My highest-ranked team in the preseason that is no longer ranked is Arkansas. The team I had unranked in the preseason that is highest ranked now is Kentucky.
That’s interesting for obvious reasons.
If you follow the sport closely, you likely know there are only four undefeated teams remaining — three of which originate from the SEC. The best of the bunch, at least in my opinion, is Tennessee, which remains No. 1 in the Top 25 And 1 for the 26th consecutive day. The Vols are 12-0 with 11 double-digit victories and wins over two schools also in the Top 25 And 1 — specifically a 66-64 victory at No. 17 Illinois and a 77-62 neutral-court win over No. 25 Baylor.
Next up for the Vols is Tuesday’s game against Norfolk State that should move them to 13-0 and, either way, will complete the non-league portion of their schedule. After that, it’s the SEC opener against John Calipari’s Arkansas Razorbacks, a game KenPom.com currently projects Tennessee to win by 13 points before traveling to Florida for a top-10 showdown.
College basketball rankings: Tennessee leads the way as undefeated SEC teams headline Top 25 And 1
The Tennessee Volunteers have emerged as the top team in college basketball, leading the way in the latest Top 25 And 1 rankings. The Volunteers are one of several undefeated teams from the SEC making waves in the college basketball world.
Tennessee is off to a blazing start this season, boasting an impressive record and dominating performances against top-ranked opponents. Led by head coach Rick Barnes and star players like Kennedy Chandler and Josiah-Jordan James, the Volunteers have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the SEC and beyond.
Joining Tennessee in the Top 25 And 1 rankings are fellow SEC powerhouses like Auburn, LSU, and Alabama, all of whom have also started the season undefeated. The SEC is proving to be a formidable conference in college basketball this year, with multiple teams making strong cases for national championship contention.
As the season progresses, it will be exciting to see how these undefeated SEC teams continue to fare against tough competition. With Tennessee leading the way, the SEC is poised to make a major impact on college basketball this season. Stay tuned for more updates on the Top 25 And 1 rankings as the season unfolds.
