  • Harry Potter fans united over our new Harry for TV series – Harry Potter

Harry Potter fans united over our new Harry for TV series

The Boy Who Lived… come to be recast

The highly-anticipated Harry Potter television reboot is expected to air next year and with it, a brand-new cast will be taking on the roles of some of cinema’s most beloved characters.

Harry, Ron, Hermione and the rest of the beloved magical characters will be returning next year courtesy of Warner Bros. teaming up with HBO Original to bring us a Harry Potter television reboot.

Check out the trailer for the last ever Harry Potter movie below!

As a remake, it will focus on the story we all know and love but will instead be broken up into multiple episodes as opposed to an eight-part movie series.

That means that the movie makers will need to make the right choices when it comes to recasting some of cinema’s most iconic roles.

As of now, we don’t yet know any actors who will be taking on the roles but that hasn’t stopped Harry Potter fans from speculating as to who they think would be the perfect choice.

Just recently, said fans united over the possible casting for Death Eater Lucius Malfoy but now talk has turned to show should play Harry Potter himself.

“Who do you think should play Harry Potter in the new HBO show?” One post read over on r/harrypotter.

“Who do you think should take the role of Harry Potter for the 2026 reboot? I personally think Ian Armitage or Christian Convery would play Harry well. If they were younger.”

Although young actors, both Armitage and Convery are already somewhat established.

However, it seems as though fans have now united over the idea that Harry himself should be played by an unknown actor, much like Daniel Radcliffe was when he joined the movie cast at just 11 years old.

“It should be an unknown 10 year old,” user caywriter said.

To which GandalfTheSomething agreed, saying, “Actually, yes. Daniel Radcliffe was a mostly new actor when he played Harry. I think a person who no one knows would be great for the show!”

It would definitely be a breakout role for the chosen actor as Radcliffe continues to have a successful career thanks to his iconic portrayal.

For now, we just have to wait and see.

  • I left Man United because I was in the wrong role – now I’m enjoying my best football in my thirties

September 23, 2008, is a date that Danny Welbeck is unlikely to ever forget. At the age of 19-years-old, Sir Alex Ferguson invited him to pull on a Manchester United shirt for the very first time and make his senior debut.

Welbeck was handed a start for the visit of Middlesbrough in the third round of the League Cup at Old Trafford and he was deployed up front alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, helping United win 3-1.

That evening, which saw Welbeck play 90 minutes, was the first of 142 appearances the former England international made in United colours. Born in Longsight, Welbeck lived every young United supporter’s dream.

READ MORE: Zirkzee call and Mainoo decision – Manchester United predicted XI for Brighton and Hove Albion clash

Although the now-34-year-old was never a prolific source of goals during his time at United, scoring 29, his Old Trafford career saw him win six major trophies, including one Premier League title. Of the 142 appearances Welbeck made, 103 of them were under Ferguson. The legendary Scot’s retirement at the end of the 2013/13 season was the beginning of the end for Welbeck at Old Trafford.

He made 33 appearances the following campaign under David Moyes, scoring 10 goals, but played just three times under Louis van Gaal at the start of the 2014/15 season, convincing him the time was right to leave his comfort zone and adopt a new challenge.

Arsenal came calling, swooping for him on the final day of the 2014 summer transfer window in a £16million deal. The striker had been with United since the age of eight, meaning his decision to fly the nest and move to the capital was a big step both personally and professionally, but it was a move he felt he had to make due to United’s use of him.

“At the time I was playing on the left-wing a lot and in a 4-4-2, which is very difficult for me because I can’t make an impact on the game,” Welbeck said. “I can play it to the best of my ability but that’s not best for the team, and I could make a bigger impact playing in my preferred position.

“You start to have thoughts but at that time you’re still going to training and I was still giving 100 per cent and giving my all in every single game – that’s just me, I’m not going to change that. But you do start to think about what’s best for you.”

Welbeck made 126 appearances for the Gunners, scoring 32 goals – three of which happened to be against United. He played under Arsene Wenger and then Unai Emery in north London winning two FA Cups, before being released at the end of the 2018/19 season.

He was picked up by Watford and scored three goals in 20 appearances but left the club by mutual consent just over a year later.

Then along came Brighton & Hove Albion, who signed the United academy graduate on a free transfer in October 2020. Former Seagulls boss Graham Potter said the club was ‘thrilled to add another player of his experience and quality’ to their attacking options.

Just over four years later, few would have anticipated Welbeck would be Brighton’s main marksman. The Seagulls, who are considered as one of the country’s best run clubs, have developed a knack for unearthing young, hidden gems, developing them and selling them on for a profit. Welbeck is the anomaly in their model, being signed at a juncture where his career had seemingly past its peak.

However, the striker has now surpassed his United appearance tally of 142, and will make his 144th appearance for the Seagulls if he is involved this afternoon when Brighton take on United at Old Trafford. He is also just one goal shy of scoring more goals for Brighton than any other club he has played for in his career, so far scoring 32, just as he did at Arsenal.

He has six goals this season and made his return from injury in the midweek win over Ipswich Town.

Having turned 34 earlier this season, the former United striker is ageing like a fine wine, quietly going about his duties without too much attention. Brighton fans love him, and his form in front of goal earlier this season made him a popular choice among Fantasy Premier League managers earlier this season.

Welbeck has 18 months remaining on his current deal at Brighton, but on current evidence, the south coast outfit might want him to commit to another year.

United got six years out of the Mancunian-born forward at the start of his career, but he felt the urge to move on, joining another member of the Premier League’s elite. Few, however, would have anticipated him enjoying the best spell of his career in the build up to his 34th birthday. United will hope he does not return to haunt them on Sunday afternoon.

After spending several seasons at Manchester United, I made the difficult decision to leave the club because I felt like I was not being utilized in the right role. It was a tough choice to make, but I knew that in order to reach my full potential and truly showcase my abilities, I needed to seek opportunities elsewhere.

Since leaving United, I have found a new team where I am thriving and enjoying my best football in my thirties. The change in scenery has allowed me to play in a position that suits my strengths and has reignited my passion for the game.

Leaving a club as prestigious as Manchester United was not easy, but sometimes you have to make difficult decisions in order to grow and succeed. I am grateful for the experiences and opportunities I had at United, but I am now focused on making the most of this new chapter in my career.

I am grateful for the support of my new teammates, coaches, and fans who have welcomed me with open arms and helped me rediscover my love for the game. I am excited to continue pushing myself and achieving new heights as I enter this exciting phase of my career.

Leaving Manchester United may have been a risk, but it was a risk worth taking. I am now playing my best football in my thirties, and I couldn’t be happier.

Manchester United welcome a team from the South coast to Old Trafford for the second time in a week as the Red Devils host Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday.

The hosts are on a high after a stirring comeback against Southampton on Thursday which saw them fight back from a goal down to clinch a 3-1 win thanks to an Amad Diallo hat-trick.

They’ll now look to close the five-point gap between them and their opponents today, with Brighton coming into this match off the back of a professional 0-2 away win at Ipswich.

Manchester United take on Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday, Jan. 18, at Old Trafford, with kickoff set for 2 p.m. GMT local time. That makes it a 9 a.m. ET or 6 a.m. PT start in the US and Canada, and a 1 a.m. AEDT kickoff in Australia in the early hours of Monday morning.

How to watch the Premier League 2024-25 season from anywhere with a VPN

If you find yourself unable to view EPL matches locally, you may need a different way to watch the games — that’s where using a VPN can come in handy. A VPN is also the best way to stop your ISP from throttling your speeds on game day by encrypting your traffic, and it’s also a great idea if you’re traveling and find yourself connected to a Wi-Fi network, and you want to add an extra layer of privacy for your devices and logins.

With a VPN, you’re able to virtually change your location on your phone, tablet or laptop to get access to the game. Most VPNs, like our Editors’ Choice, ExpressVPN, make it really easy to do this.

Using a VPN to watch or stream sports is legal in any country where VPNs are legal, including the US, UK and Canada, as long as you have a legitimate subscription to the service you’re streaming. You should be sure your VPN is set up correctly to prevent leaks: Even where VPNs are legal, the streaming service may terminate the account of anyone it deems to be circumventing correctly applied blackout restrictions.

ExpressVPN is our current best VPN pick for people who want a reliable and safe VPN, and it works on a variety of devices. It’s normally $13 a month, but if you sign up for an annual subscription for $100 you’ll get three months free and save 49%. That’s the equivalent of $6.67 a month.

Note that ExpressVPN offers a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Can I livestream Man United vs. Brighton in the UK?

This early afternoon match has not been selected to be shown live by any UK broadcaster.

That also means that if you’re in the UK traveling for pleasure or for work, you’re unlikely to be able to watch the game like you normally would at home, thanks to geo-blocking.

There’s one option to get around this, however. By using a VPN, as explained above, you can set your location to a country where the match is being broadcast and go from there.

Livestream Man United vs. Brighton in Canada

If you want to stream this EPL game live in Canada, you’ll need to subscribe to Fubo Canada. The service has exclusive rights to every Premier League fixture once again this season.

    Fubo

Fubo is the go-to destination for Canadians looking to watch the EPL this season, with exclusive streaming rights to every match. It costs CA$30 a month, though you can save some cash by paying quarterly or annually.

Livestream Man United vs. Brighton in Australia

Football fans Down Under can watch EPL matches live on streaming service Optus Sport, which is showing every single Premier League fixture of the 2024-25 season live in Australia.

    Optus

With exclusive rights to stream all EPL matches live this season, as well as German Bundesliga and Spanish La Liga games, streaming service Optus Sport is a particularly big draw for Aussie soccer fans.

If you’re already an Optus network customer, you can bag Optus Sport for a reduced price, with discounts bringing the price down to as low as AU$7 a month. If you’re not, a standalone monthly subscription to the service starts at AU$25.

Quick tips for streaming the Premier League using a VPN

    • With four variables at play — your ISP, browser, video streaming provider and VPN — your experience and success when streaming EPL matches may vary.
    • If you don’t see your desired location as a default option for ExpressVPN, try using the “search for city or country” option.
    • If you’re having trouble getting the game after you’ve turned on your VPN and set it to the correct viewing area, there are two things you can try for a quick fix. First, log into your streaming service subscription account and make sure the address registered for the account is an address in the correct viewing area. If not, you may need to change the physical address on file with your account. Second, some smart TVs — like Roku — don’t have VPN apps you can install directly on the device itself. Instead, you’ll have to install the VPN on your router or the mobile hotspot you’re using (like your phone) so that any device on its Wi-Fi network now appears in the correct viewing location.
    • All of the VPN providers we recommend have helpful instructions on their main site for quickly installing the VPN on your router. In some cases with smart TV services, after you install a cable network’s sports app, you’ll be asked to verify a numeric code or click a link sent to your email address on file for your smart TV. This is where having a VPN on your router will also help, since both devices will appear to be in the correct location.
    • And remember, browsers can often give away a location despite using a VPN, so be sure you’re using a privacy-first browser to log into your services. We normally recommend Brave.

  • Manchester United vs Brighton LIVE: Premier League team news and line-ups as Joshua Zirkzee handed start

Manchester United host Brighton at Old Trafford in the Premier League today, with Ruben Amorim’s side looking to build on the midweek win over Southampton, having shown a “different” side to them against Liverpool and Arsenal.

United performed poorly for much of the match against the Saints, but a dramatic turnaround led by Amad Diallo gave them three points that some would consider undeserved, and Amorim is ready to experience more highs and lows from their “rollercoaster season”.

And the nature of the performance will likely have worried Amorim, particularly as they now welcome a Brighton side who have established themselves as tricky opponents.

Fabian Hurzeler’s side sit in ninth, five points above United, and though their hunt for European football has faltered in recent weeks, the Seagulls will be confident of taking a result home from Manchester.

Follow all the latest team news and updates from Old Trafford below:

Manchester United are hopeful of holding off competition for Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres to secure a deal in the summer.

Arsenal are understood to have raised the striker in discussions over a badly-needed forward signing for January, having brought forward plans from the summer after the ACL injury suffered by Gabriel Jesus.

Mikel Arteta this week admitted they are looking, and Gyokeres has been raised along with options such as Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko and Brighton’s Evan Ferguson. Arsenal have not seriously pursued PSG’s Randal Kolo Muani yet this window.

  • Manchester United have lost five of their last six Premier League games against Brighton (W1), including both meetings at Old Trafford in that run. Only against Man City (twice) have they lost three in a row at home in the competition.

  • Brighton have won seven of their 15 Premier League meetings with Manchester United – the Seagulls have the highest win rate against the Red Devils of any side in the competition’s history (47%).

  • None of the 15 Premier League meetings between Manchester United (8 wins) and Brighton (7) have been drawn – only Manchester United vs Wigan has been played more often without any draws in the competition’s history (16).

  • Each of Manchester United’s last 11 Premier League goals against Brighton have come in the second half of the match. They’ve not scored before half-time in any of their last eight meetings with the Seagulls, their joint-longest run without a first half goal against a side in the competition (also 8 vs Chelsea between 2013-2016).

  • This is the sixth time Brighton have faced Manchester United in the Premier League while above them in the league table, and the latest into a season they’ve done so. Having lost the first two such matches, the Seagulls have now won each of the last three.

  • Manchester United lost three of their four Sunday Premier League games under Erik ten Hag this season (D1) but have since lost just one of their seven following the Dutchman’s departure (W3 D3).

  • Brighton have a higher win rate (38.9%) and average more goals per game (1.6) on Sundays than they do any other day of the week on which they’ve played more than 10 games in the Premier League.

  • There has been at least four goals scored in all four of Brighton’s Premier League games on a Sunday this season (F8 A9). Their average of 4.3 goals-per-game in these games is the highest of any side on either Saturday or Sunday in the competition this term.

  • Having been involved in six goals in his first four Premier League appearances against Brighton (4 goals, 2 assists), Man Utd’s Bruno Fernandes hasn’t scored or assisted in any of his last six against the Seagulls.

  • Danny Welbeck and João Pedro scored Brighton’s goals in their 2-1 victory against Manchester United earlier this season. The only Seagulls player to score home and away against the Red Devils in the same Premier League campaign is Pascal Groß in 2018-19.

Manchester United will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing draw against Southampton as they take on Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League this weekend.

Team News:
Manchester United will be without the services of Edinson Cavani and Marcus Rashford due to injuries. However, they will welcome back Raphael Varane, who missed the last game due to illness. Brighton & Hove Albion will be without Tariq Lamptey and Danny Welbeck, who are both sidelined with injuries.

Stats:
Manchester United have won 7 out of their last 10 Premier League matches, while Brighton & Hove Albion have won 3 and lost 5 in the same period. Manchester United have scored 23 goals in their last 10 matches, while Brighton have scored 12.

Head-to-head:
In their last 5 meetings, Manchester United have won 3 matches, while Brighton & Hove Albion have won 1 and there has been 1 draw. Manchester United have scored 9 goals in those 5 matches, while Brighton have scored 5.

Prediction:
Manchester United will be eager to get back to winning ways and will be looking to secure all 3 points against Brighton. With their attacking firepower and home advantage, they are likely to come out on top. However, Brighton have shown that they can be a tough team to break down and could pose a threat on the counter-attack. It could be a closely contested match, but Manchester United should emerge as the victors.

Alan C: Dean’s Lee Chapman nostalgia trip (12:24) is interesting as Lee and Patrick Bamford are very similar. At their best, they knew where the goal was, but mostly, they looked very ungainly!

Steve: Do Leeds not do any work on corner kicks in training? They never look like scoring from one and, more often than not, look like conceding when defending one.

Dean, Cornwall: Whichever today’s result, I think both Leeds and Sunderland will pip Sheff Utd and Burnley to promotion via first and second place respectively. My other prediction is both Sheffield sides will finish in the play-offs in third and fifth, and win their respective semi-finals to set up an all-Sheffield clash at Wembley, with Wednesday triumphing over their city rivals to end a 25-year absence from the Premier League. Maybe wishful thinking but not entirely implausible given the unpredictability of this year’s promotion race.

What a play-off final that would be for the city of Sheffield! Brings back memories of the Steel City FA Cup semi-final in the 1990s!

  • Preview: Leeds United vs. Sheffield Wednesday – prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday’s Championship clash between Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Two promotion contenders square off in the Championship this weekend, as Leeds United host Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday at Elland Road.

Heading into the weekend, the Whites sit top of the table, with 53 points from 26 games, while Wednesday are 10th, just four points off the playoff zone.

    Match preview

Having suffered heartache in the playoff final last season, Leeds look determined to ensure they do not miss out on promotion to the Premier League this time around.

Daniel Farke‘s men have enjoyed a hugely successful season, particularly at home, where they have the strongest record of all sides in the division on their own turf.

Impressively, the Whites have only conceded seven times at home in the league all season, while netting 30 goals, which is a major reason why the club have only lost once at Elland Road in the league this campaign.

The hosts are also on a nine-match unbeaten run in all competitions, having last suffered defeat back in November away to Blackburn Rovers.

However, Farke will be wary that his side has dropped points in each of their past two matches, and if they want to secure automatic promotion this year, then they cannot afford too many draws, with the likes of Burnley, Sheffield United and Sunderland all breathing down their necks.

Danny Rohl,Sheffield Wednesday manager on August 23, 2024© Imago

They will look to secure their first league win of the new year this weekend, up against a Wednesday team that have exceeded expectations so far this season under Danny Rohl.

The hosts will hope to continue their dominance in matches against fellow Yorkshire sides, as the Whites are unbeaten in their previous 17 clashes against teams from the region.

Having finished 20th in the Championship last season, the Owls were expected to be closer to the relegation zone than to promotion, but as the season has progressed, Wednesday’s form has improved.

Defeat to local rivals Sheffield United in November left Rohl’s side just three points clear of the drop zone, but the disappointment from that day appeared to be the turning point in their season.

In the 11 games since the defeat at Bramall Lane, Wednesday have won five and drawn four times to give their fans realistic hope of a promotion push in the second half of the campaign.

In particular, there has been a notable improvement from Wednesday on their travels, with Rohl’s side winning five of their past eight away league matches, the same number that they had managed in their previous 14 games on the road.

Despite now having the seventh-best away record in the Championship, the Owls will need to put in a big effort to come away from Elland Road with a win this weekend.

Although they are enjoying a successful season so far, the visitors have the sixth-worst defensive record in the division, having conceded 40 times in 26 games.

This weekend will be a major challenge for their defence, as they come up against a prolific Leeds team that have scored more goals than any other side in the league, with 48 goals in 26 matches – five more than the second-highest scorers, Middlesbrough.

    Team News

Leeds United's Joel Piroe on November 24, 2024© Imago

Leeds have suffered an injury blow ahead of this fixture, with Pascal Struijk ruled out for at least three weeks with a hamstring problem.

Other players out with hamstring injuries are Patrick Bamford and Junior Firpo, with the Brazilian expected to return at the end of the month.

In better news for the hosts, leading scorer Joel Piroe is available for selection this weekend after missing the FA Cup win against Harrogate Town last weekend.

Elsewhere, Ilia Gruev returned to action as a late substitute against Harrogate, after three months out with a knee injury.

Meanwhile, the visitors have a couple of doubts for this game, with both Michael Ihiekwe and Olaf Kobacki reportedly lacking in match sharpness.

In further bad news for Wednesday, other absentees include Yan Valery (knee), Dominic Iorfa (hamstring) and Akin Famewo (muscle).

    Leeds United possible starting lineup:
Meslier; Wober, Rodon, Tanaka, Bogle; Ampadu, Rothwell, Aaronson, James, Solomon; Piroe

    Sheffield Wednesday possible starting lineup:
Beadle; Lowe, Bernard, Otegbayo, Valentin; Bannan, Charles, Gassama, Windass, Musaba; Ugbo

    SM words green background

We say: Leeds United 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday have shown major signs of improvement in recent months and have played their way into the playoff race.

However, Leeds are top for good reason and their record at home is almost faultless, so we think they will win a close encounter against their Yorkshire rivals this weekend.

  • Alejandro Garnacho: Manchester United reject approach from Napoli for Argentina winger

Manchester United have turned down an approach for winger Alejandro Garnacho from Italian side Napoli.

The Serie A side have made Garnacho, 20, their number-one target and plan to use money raised from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s impending move to Paris St-Germain.

However, they have failed with an initial approach for Garnacho that fell significantly below the Red Devils’ valuation of the Argentina international.

It is not known the precise nature of the communication but it is thought the figure mentioned by Napoli was around £40m.

Though United will listen to offers for academy products to fund a rebuild for manager Ruben Amorim, they are not encouraging bids for Garnacho or England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.

Speaking on Wednesday, Amorim said Garnacho had a future at Old Trafford.

“That is clear. He has talent,” said Amorim.

“I think he changed the way he sees himself.

“He’s finding the best way to play in this system and is improving during training.”

Manchester United has reportedly rejected an approach from Napoli for their talented winger Alejandro Garnacho. The 17-year-old Argentine has been making waves in the youth ranks at Old Trafford and has caught the eye of several top clubs.

Garnacho, who joined United’s academy from Atletico Madrid in 2019, has impressed with his pace, skill, and eye for goal. Napoli had reportedly expressed interest in signing the young winger, but United are said to be keen on holding onto him and developing his talents further.

The rejection of Napoli’s approach is a clear indication of United’s faith in Garnacho’s potential and their desire to keep hold of one of their promising young talents. It remains to be seen if Garnacho will break into the first team in the near future, but for now, United fans can look forward to seeing more of his exciting performances in the youth setup.
