Blues plotting late move for Man City midfielder as Fabrizio Romano drops major update
Chelsea are reportedly plotting a last-ditch move for Manchester City star Nico O’Reilly as Enzo Maresca’s side scramble to add to their midfield options.
As we have reported over the past month, the Blues are keen to bring in more reinforcements in the middle of the park before the window slams shut.
Manchester United star Kobbie Mainoo has been targeted by Chelsea but they appear reluctant to match his £70m price tag and it’s expected he will stay at Old Trafford.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea have turned to Man City youngster O’Reilly as an alternative and are ‘working’ on a deal ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.
He also notes that Saint-Etienne midfielder Mathis Amougou remains on Chelsea’s shortlist
“Chelsea keep working on new midfielder with enquiry made to Man City for 2005 born midfielder Nico O’Reilly,” Romano posted on X.
“Man City don’t want to lose future control on the player — not an easy deal. Follows enquiry made for Mathis Amougou reported last week, still on list.”

Chelsea are running out of time to sign a new midfielder
TEAMtalk transfer insider Fraser Fletcher reported earlier this week that Chelsea harbour ambitions of bringing in another midfielder and striker before the end of the window.
The Blues don’t have a lot of cover in midfield due to Romeo Lavia being sidelined with another injury, so there is a lot of reliance on Moises Caicedo at the moment.
Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Carney Chukwuemeka, meanwhile, have been heavily linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge over the past month.
Chelsea are therefore trying to bring in a new midfielder before Monday night and Romano’s report suggests that Man City youngster O’Reilly is a key target.
The 19-year-old is highly regarded by Man City but has found it very difficult to break into the first team this season, making just six appearances across all competitions so far.
It is so far unclear how much Man City will ask for to sell O’Reilly in the coming hours but they will hope that he doesn’t become a superstar if he does join Chelsea, as Cole Palmer has done after making the switch to Stamford Bridge in 2023.
TEAMtalk understands that Chelsea are looking at players with more experience to strengthen the midfield too, with Brighton star Carlos Baleba also on the Blues’ transfer shortlist.
However, there is zero chance of Chelsea signing Balela before the February 3 deadline without massively overpaying for his services.

Chelsea round-up: Disasi rejects Tottenham / Chukwuemeka wants Dortmund
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Tottenham agreed a deal with Chelsea to sign defender Axel Disasi on loan until the end of the season.
However, it’s claimed that Disasi decided to REJECT the move to Spurs as he has already agreed personal terms with Aston Villa and has no desire to join up with Ange Postecoglou’s team.
Chelsea, however, aren’t willing to let the defender join Villa as they don’t want to strengthen a direct rival, so Disasi could be left in limbo unless another team comes in for him.
In other news, Borussia Dortmund have emerged as frontrunners to sign Chelsea midfielder Chukwuemeka on loan.
Everton and West Ham are also interested in Chukwuemeka but Dortmund are now leading the race for the 21-year-old.
TEAMtalk understands that Chukwuemeka is very interested in joining Dortmund and that would be his preference over joining another Premier League side on loan.
Chelsea transfer quiz: Higher or lower?
Blues plotting late move for Man City midfielder as Fabrizio Romano drops major updateIn a surprising turn of events, Chelsea are reportedly plotting a late move for a Manchester City midfielder as transfer expert Fabrizio Romano drops a major update on the situation.
According to Romano, Chelsea are looking to bolster their midfield options before the transfer window closes, and have identified a City midfielder as a potential target. While the identity of the player in question has not been revealed, it is believed that the Blues are keen on adding some depth and quality to their midfield.
This news comes as a shock to many, as City are known for their reluctance to sell key players to direct rivals. However, Chelsea seem determined to push through a deal and are reportedly in talks with the player’s representatives.
It remains to be seen whether this late move will materialize, but Chelsea fans will be hoping that Romano’s update is a sign of exciting things to come in the final days of the transfer window. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.

Bo Bassett recruiting update: Micah Parsons gives Penn State pitch to top wrestling prospect
Dallas Cowboys star and Penn State alum Micah Parsons made his pitch to No. 1 wrestling recruit Bo Bassett Sunday.
With news that Bassett will announce his decision early this week, Parsons made a last ditch effort to try and convince Bassett to come wrestle for the Nittany Lions. Basically, Bassett would add generational talent to the already No. 1 Penn State wrestling team.
Parsons, a noted college wrestling fans especially of his alma mater, clearly wants Bassett to don the classic PSU singlet.
“After seeing Penn state domination it can’t be any other choice!!! We have the best environment and wrestling room in the country! That’s facts! Come join the greatest legacy ever created!!,” Parsons wrote on Twitter.
Bassett is MatScouts’ No. 1 overall prospect in the Class of 2026 and one of the most sought after prospects in recent memory. Recently, Bassett won his third Ironman title, this time at 144 pounds and had tech falls over six straight opponents.
As a reminder, here was the schedule of visits for Bassett throughout his recruitment:
Sep 20-22: Michigan
Oct 25-27: Iowa
Nov 1-3: Penn State
Nov 8-10: Ohio State
Nov 15-17: Virginia Tech
Nov 22-24: Oklahoma State
Jan 24-26: RutgersThe top prospect’s visits have been watched with close eyes as Bassett could be seen as a program changer, along with younger brothers Keegan Bassett (2028) and Melvin Miller (2027). All of them wrestle for Bishop McCort (Pa.), which is considered one of, if not the top high school wrestling team in the country this year.
Other top prospect Jax Forrest, who’s No. 2 pound for pound, is Bassett’s teammate. He revealed his top 10 schools back in September, but has not eliminated nor provided a recent update as he goes about his visits.
“Some wrestlers don’t like this process, but I can honestly say I am really enjoying it,” Bassett said in a previous newsletter. “My view is, I only get to do the recruiting process once, so I am going to enjoy it and have fun with it. I sometimes like to do things different and hope everyone likes these updates.
“When I was in elementary school, I would have done anything to follow along with Spencer Lee, Jason Nolf or Zain Retherford recruiting process.”
Bo Bassett, the top wrestling prospect in the nation, is receiving some high praise from a fellow Penn State standout. Micah Parsons, a star linebacker for the Nittany Lions football team, recently gave his pitch to Bassett about joining the Penn State wrestling program. In a recent interview, Parsons spoke highly of the wrestling program at Penn State and the opportunities it provides for student-athletes. He highlighted the strong coaching staff, the winning tradition, and the supportive community at Penn State.
Parsons also emphasized the benefits of being a student-athlete at Penn State, pointing to the world-class facilities, academic support, and networking opportunities available to student-athletes.
With Bassett being one of the most sought-after wrestling recruits in the country, it’s no surprise that Penn State is making a strong push to land him. And with Parsons’ endorsement, it’s clear that the Nittany Lions have a compelling pitch to offer the talented young wrestler.
It remains to be seen where Bassett will ultimately decide to take his talents, but with the backing of Micah Parsons and the Penn State wrestling program, the Nittany Lions are certainly in a strong position to land the standout prospect. Stay tuned for more updates on Bo Bassett’s recruitment process.

In today’s fast-paced world, businesses are constantly facing new challenges and threats that can disrupt their operations. From natural disasters to cyber-attacks, there are countless potential risks that can impact a company’s ability to function effectively. That’s why having a solid disaster recovery plan in place is essential for every organization.A disaster recovery plan is a set of procedures and protocols that a business puts in place to ensure that it can continue to operate in the event of a disaster. This could be anything from a power outage to a major data breach. By having a plan in place, companies can minimize the impact of these events and ensure that they can quickly recover and get back to business as usual.
However, simply having a disaster recovery plan is not enough. It’s also important to regularly test and update the plan to ensure that it remains effective and relevant. Here are some tips for preparing for the unexpected by testing and updating your disaster recovery plan:
1. Conduct regular testing: One of the most important steps in preparing for the unexpected is to regularly test your disaster recovery plan. This could involve running simulations of various disaster scenarios to see how well your plan holds up. By conducting regular tests, you can identify any weaknesses or gaps in your plan and make necessary adjustments.
2. Review and update your plan: As your business grows and evolves, so too should your disaster recovery plan. It’s important to regularly review and update your plan to ensure that it reflects the current state of your business and any new potential risks that may have emerged. This could involve revising your contact lists, updating your recovery procedures, or implementing new technologies to enhance your disaster recovery capabilities.
3. Train your team: In the event of a disaster, your team will be instrumental in implementing your disaster recovery plan. That’s why it’s important to ensure that everyone is well-trained and familiar with their roles and responsibilities in the event of a disaster. By conducting regular training sessions, you can ensure that your team is prepared to respond effectively in an emergency.
4. Communicate with stakeholders: It’s also important to keep key stakeholders informed about your disaster recovery plan and any updates or changes that have been made. This could include employees, customers, suppliers, and other partners who may be impacted by a disaster. By keeping everyone in the loop, you can ensure a coordinated and effective response to any unexpected events.
In conclusion, preparing for the unexpected is essential for every business. By testing and updating your disaster recovery plan regularly, you can ensure that your organization is well-equipped to handle any potential threats that may arise. With a solid plan in place, you can minimize the impact of disasters and ensure that your business can quickly recover and continue to thrive.
Kyrie Irving receives critical injury update before Mavericks-Cavaliers
The Dallas Mavericks still have a basketball game on Sunday afternoon after the mind-blowing Luka Doncic-Anthony Davis trade that occurred overnight, and once again, the Mavericks are dealing with a bunch of injuries.
Dallas entered the day with Anthony Davis, Max Christie, Dwight Powell, and Dereck Lively II out as Davis and Christie look to join the team, Lively recovers from a stress fracture in his ankle, and Powell deals with a hip strain. Kyrie Irving, Daniel Gafford, and P.J. Washington entered as questionable but were given updates before Sunday’s 2:30 CST tip.

Mandatory Credit: Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images / Kevin Jairaj-Imagn Images Irving (right shoulder soreness), Gafford (ankle soreness), and Washington (knee soreness) were all downgraded to out. Dallas will now be dealing with a skeleton crew of a lineup, likely starting Spencer Dinwiddie, Quentin Grimes, Naji Marshall, Olivier-Maxence Prosper, and two-way center Kylor Kelley against arguably the best team in the NBA.
Irving already missed the game against the Cavaliers earlier in the season, so he’ll go the 2024-25 season without playing against the team that drafted him, barring some other insane trade within the next week.
Cleveland will be without Isaac Okoro (right should AC joint sprain) and Dean Wade (right knee bone bruise). Caris LeVert (right wrist sprain) and Craig Porter Jr. (illness) are still questionable.

Irving, who has been dealing with a nagging knee injury, underwent further evaluation by team doctors and it has been determined that he will be sidelined for at least the next two weeks. This news comes as a blow to the Cavaliers, who are currently fighting for a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Irving’s absence will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the team’s performance, as he is a key player and offensive threat for the Cavaliers.
Despite this setback, the Cavaliers remain focused on their goal of making a postseason push and will need to rely on their depth and resilience to fill the void left by Irving’s absence.
Fans will be eagerly awaiting Irving’s return to the court, as his dynamic play and leadership are crucial to the Cavaliers’ success. In the meantime, the team will have to rally together and step up in his absence to secure much-needed wins in their quest for a playoff berth.

Will Chet Holmgren play tonight against the Dallas Mavericks? Latest update on the OKC Thunder star’s injury report | NBA News
Oklahoma City Thunder’s rising star Chet Holmgren is set to miss time due to a hip injury, according to the team’s latest injury report. As the Thunder prepare to take on the Dallas Mavericks on January 23, Holmgren’s absence adds to the list of key players sidelined. The 7-foot center, known for his shot-blocking ability and versatility, will be out indefinitely as he recovers.
Chet Holmgren’s injury comes at a crucial point in the season, with the Oklahoma City Thunder holding an impressive 36-7 record. Despite their success, missing a key contributor like Holmgren could pose challenges in maintaining their dominance, especially on the defensive end. Oklahoma City currently leads the NBA in defensive efficiency, allowing just 103.9 points per game. Holmgren has played a pivotal role in anchoring their defense, and his absence could be felt in upcoming matchups.Oklahoma City Thunder forward Chet Holmgren (7) plays in the second half of an NBA basketball game Nov. 6, 2024, in Denver. (Image via AP Photo/David Zalubowski, File)
In the last 20 games, Chet Holmgren has been a consistent presence for the Oklahoma City Thunder, averaging 9.4 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. His rim protection has also been a major asset, contributing one block per contest. With Holmgren sidelined, the Thunder will have to rely more on their depth, including players like Jalen Williams and Isaiah Hartenstein, who is also currently out with a calf injury.
Chet Holmgren’s injury isn’t the only concern for Oklahoma City. The team is also without Nikola Topic, who is out for the season with an ACL injury, and Ajay Mitchell, who is dealing with a toe issue. This string of injuries puts additional pressure on Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who has been the Oklahoma City Thunder’s standout performer, leading the NBA in scoring with 33 points per game.
As Oklahoma City looks ahead, the team will need to adjust its game plan to compensate for Chet Holmgren’s absence. The Thunder are known for their strong defensive schemes and efficient scoring, but losing a key shot-blocker could impact their ability to control the paint. Fans will be eager for updates on Holmgren’s recovery, hoping for his return before the playoffs.

The Thunder face the Dallas Mavericks on January 23 at the Paycom Center, with tip-off set for 8:00 PM ET. The game will be broadcast on KFAA, WFAA, and FDSOK, with streaming available on Fubo. Oklahoma City will aim to continue their winning streak despite the growing injury list.
Unfortunately, it looks like Chet Holmgren will not be suiting up tonight against the Dallas Mavericks. The latest update on the OKC Thunder star’s injury report indicates that he is still dealing with a nagging ankle injury and will be sitting out tonight’s game. Fans will have to wait a little longer to see the promising rookie back in action. Stay tuned for more updates on Holmgren’s status and when he is expected to return to the court. #NBA #OKCThunder #ChetHolmgren #InjuryUpdate #DallasMavericks

Lakers Rumors Roundup: Myles Turner update, searching for point guard
The trade deadline is one week away and the Lakers are still searching for the right answer to their problems.
Is that a center? A point guard? A third star? A combination of those three?
The front office will assess those questions in the coming days. While fans wait, let’s catch up on the latest rumors and reports.
Myles on the move?
One of the names to emerge over the last week has been Myles Turner from the Pacers. Effectively, there was no report linking him to the Lakers other than people citing a history of links to the Lakers and Turner’s contract expiring at season’s end.
Naturally, since this didn’t have a starting point, there really isn’t much smoke to this one, at least according to longtime NBA reporter Marc Stein. In his latest Substack newsletter, Stein said the Pacers are only looking to move Turner if they get another starting center in return.
Yet the prevailing leaguewide sense, one week out from the trade buzzer, is that the Pacers do not want to trade Turner.
There is a strong belief among some league personnel that Indiana would need to see proposals that return a starting-level center to even consider the notion.
There are three-team machinations of deals that could potentially send the Pacers a starting center while landing the Lakers Turner, but those are complicated deals. And those are only possible if the Pacers want to move Turner, which remains to be seen.
Center not the biggest need?
While there’s been plenty of talk about the center position — and more to come shortly — that isn’t the only position of need for the Lakers currently.
After trading away D’Angelo Russell, the Lakers have been short on playmakers on the roster. There has been a heavy reliance on Austin Reaves and LeBron James in the starting lineup while Gabe Vincent’s recent strong play has come at a critical time.
However, that might not be a sustainable formula moving forward, and the Lakers know it. According to Dan Woike of the LA Times in a recent extensive piece, the need for another ball handler is very apparent even to those in the locker room.
A center also is not the Lakers’ lone need. According to players inside the locker room discouraged from publicly discussing trade targets, there’s a desire for more playmaking, a need that’s become clear since the team traded D’Angelo Russell.
As much as the discussion has been about the need for center, perhaps equally important is the need to bring in another guard. With Vincent out, the Lakers have to turn to one of Shake Milton or Bronny James and, as fans saw on Tuesday against the Sixers, those are not good solutions.
Looking for a big man
Ultimately, the Lakers’ trade deadline will probably be graded on whether they land another center. Although this has been a need for some time, Anthony Davis’ public remarks amplified the pressure on the front office to find an upgrade.
But the Lakers are not alone in searching for a center. As Woike also noted in his piece, the price for big men is high as the deadline nears.
In conversations with executives inside and outside of the organization, it’s become clear that the costs for starting-caliber NBA centers are high — particularly ones good enough to force the Lakers into the kind of seismic change that moving Davis to power forward and LeBron James to small forward would cause.
Trading for a big man just for the sake of bringing in another center isn’t going to solve any problems. Finding one that can both complement AD and also excel without him is quite the needle to thread.
But, Woike still reports that the team is looking for potential options.
The Lakers have been actively exploring adding a big man, though it’s not being done recklessly, according to NBA executives. Concerns about cost, fitting Redick’s preferred style of play and the ripples from moving Davis — namely playing James major minutes at small forward — are being weighed.
With Walker Kessler, the No. 1 target for most fans, seemingly unavailable at the deadline, it really thins the list of players who fit all the criteria the Lakers need.
The Lakers aren’t in a particularly easy situation to find upgrades, but they certainly are under a lot of pressure to do so. Sure sounds like fun!

The Los Angeles Lakers are not wasting any time in their quest to fill out their roster for the upcoming season. With the trade deadline looming, the Lakers are actively looking for a point guard to bolster their backcourt. One of the names that has been circulating in Lakers rumors is Myles Turner of the Indiana Pacers. The 25-year-old center is known for his shot-blocking prowess and would provide a defensive anchor in the paint for the Lakers. However, reports indicate that the Pacers are asking for a hefty price in return for Turner, potentially including a combination of draft picks and young players.
While the Lakers are intrigued by the possibility of adding Turner to their lineup, they are also exploring other options at the point guard position. With LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way, the Lakers are looking for a playmaker who can facilitate the offense and take pressure off of their star duo.
Names like Kyle Lowry of the Toronto Raptors and Lonzo Ball of the New Orleans Pelicans have been mentioned in Lakers rumors as potential targets. Both guards bring different skill sets to the table, with Lowry known for his leadership and championship experience, while Ball is a young and talented playmaker with room to grow.
As the trade deadline approaches, Lakers fans will be eagerly anticipating any updates on potential acquisitions. With a championship on the line, the Lakers are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of adding talent to their roster. Stay tuned for more Lakers rumors as the deadline draws near.

Penta Explains Significance Of WWE Debut, Former WWE Star Wants In Wyatt Sicks, CM Punk Gives AJ Lee/Rumble Update
During a recent appearance on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Penta discussed his WWE debut on the January 13th episode of RAW.
Penta noted that he had mixed feelings about his WWE debut.
He said, “Oh, man, actually, I had mixed feelings and emotions. When I heard the ‘one, two, three,’ I turned around my head to the crowd, I see my daughter crying. I feel so proud about me, and next I feel so proud about my family. In my mind, it’s, ‘I did this because this is my dream.’ My family is here, the big place, California. California represents something special for me in my career because I started in LA. What a [special] night for me. Chad Gable, this match with Chad Gable, turning point in my career because Chad Gable is one of the beat wrestlers in the world. Very professional, very…he have something like me, the passion for this business. I said after my match, ‘Thank you, Chad because you is the person [in] the turning point of my career.’ Now, after the match, I take my family with Rey Mysterio, drink in cheers with something in my room, I take dinner with my family, talking about it after the match. I asked my daughter, ‘How you feel?’ My daughter said, ‘I don’t know, sad and happy.’ I understand why, because it’s 20 years, work every day for this dream. This is my feeling now.”
Penta will compete in the men’s Royal Rumble match tomorrow night.

If it were up to me, everybody would be a scary, spooky monster. But that’s just me [laughs]. But yeah, I would love to do it. There’s a lot of things I would love to do, even in regards to the crossover of artistic connection. I would love for The Aswang to wrestle The Demon. I would love for The Aswang to wrestle Shinsuke [Nakamura] as this Ronin samurai. I would love for The Aswang to play a part in the Wyatt Sicks or whatever. There’s a lot of cool things that I think would be fun to do. But we’ll see. We’ll see how it goes. But yes, I would love to do it”
