Governor Hochul urges New Yorkers to brace for severe winter storm
New York State — Governor Kathy Hochul has directed state agencies to prepare for a severe winter storm expected to bring dangerously cold temperatures and lake effect snow across New York starting Sunday.

The storm system is forecast to impact the Mid-Hudson, New York City, and Long Island regions with snow and freezing temperatures from the night of January 19 into the morning of January 20.
Areas east of Lake Erie and Lake Ontario are expected to experience lake effect snow from Sunday night through Wednesday.
Governor Hochul said,
As extreme cold temperatures and lake effect snow move into our state over the coming days, I’ve directed our state agencies to mobilize their resources as we prepare to respond to this weather system. These conditions pose an extraordinary risk to anyone who is exposed to the elements or is unable to adequately heat their home, and I encourage New Yorkers to take precautions to keep themselves and their families safe.
The storm could bring ‘feels-like temperatures’ as low as -25 degrees Fahrenheit across much of the state on January 20, 21, 22 nights.
New Yorkers are advised to monitor local weather conditions and prepare for the winter weather.
The New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services is in contact with local counterparts and ready to deploy emergency response assets.
The Department of Transportation has 3,671 supervisors and operators available statewide, with equipment such as plow trucks and snow blowers ready for deployment.
The Thruway Authority has 691 operators and supervisors prepared to respond, with over 113,000 tons of salt on hand.
All Thruway plow trucks are equipped with green hazard lights to enhance visibility during operations.
Utilities across the state have about 5,500 workers available for damage assessment and repair efforts.
The State Police will deploy extra patrols as needed, and the Department of Environmental Conservation is prepared to coordinate resource deployment.
Residents are encouraged to sign up for emergency alerts at alert.ny.gov and check the National Weather Service website for weather alerts. Motorists should call 511 or visit 511ny.org for real-time travel information.
Safety tips include:
- Dressing in layers
- Keeping pets indoors

Governor Hochul Urges New Yorkers to Brace for Severe Winter StormAs a powerful winter storm approaches the state, Governor Hochul is urging all New Yorkers to take necessary precautions and prepare for potentially hazardous conditions. The storm is expected to bring heavy snowfall, strong winds, and dangerously low temperatures, creating treacherous travel conditions and posing a risk to public safety.
In a statement, Governor Hochul emphasized the importance of staying informed and following local weather updates. She also urged residents to stock up on essential supplies, such as food, water, and medications, and to have an emergency kit on hand in case of power outages or other disruptions.
The Governor advised New Yorkers to limit travel during the storm and to exercise caution if they must venture out. She also encouraged residents to check on vulnerable neighbors, such as the elderly or those with disabilities, to ensure their safety during the inclement weather.
As state agencies and emergency responders prepare for the storm, Governor Hochul assured residents that all necessary resources are being mobilized to respond to any potential emergencies. She urged New Yorkers to stay vigilant and to heed any warnings or advisories issued by local authorities.
In times of severe weather, it is crucial for everyone to work together to ensure the safety and well-being of our communities. By taking proactive steps to prepare for the storm, we can minimize its impact and protect ourselves and our loved ones from harm. Let’s all do our part to stay safe and weather the storm together.

Kim Kardashian Urges Khloé To Reenter The Dating Scene, Three Years After Tristan Thompson Split
Three years after her split from Cleveland Cavaliers player Tristan Thompson, Khloé Kardashian remains single by choice. Despite being content with her life, Khloé’s family, particularly her sister Kim Kardashian, is encouraging her to open up to love again.
A source close to the family shared that Khloé, a mother of two, is focused on her children and personal happiness but remains hesitant about entering the dating scene. Kim, however, believes Khloé has too much to offer to stay single indefinitely.
Khloé Kardashian ended her relationship with Tristan Thompson in 2022 following multiple cheating allegations. Since then, she has embraced her role as a single mother, focusing on raising her daughter True and her son, whose name has not been publicly revealed.
“Khloé keeps insisting she’s happy with the way her life is, that when the time is right, she’ll meet someone naturally,” a source exclusively told Life & Style. This mindset tells us that Khloé is cautious in approaching relationships, especially after the challenges she faced during her time with Tristan.
While Khloé appears content, her family is concerned that past experiences are holding her back. According to the source, a lot of people in Khloé’s life think she’s just got such bad PTSD from how terribly Tristan treated her that she’s shutting herself off from finding anyone new out of fear that she’ll get hurt again.
Kim Kardashian is especially vocal about encouraging Khloé to move forward. She wants her sister to recognize her own worth and not settle for being alone. The source shared that Khloé has so much to offer and all Kim wants is for her to believe that too.
Despite the push from her family, Khloé remains focused on living life on her own terms. She has shared that she is open to meeting someone naturally when the time feels right. For now, her priority is her children and personal growth.
Kim Kardashian is reportedly urging her sister Khloé Kardashian to reenter the dating scene, three years after her highly publicized split from NBA player Tristan Thompson. The reality star and business mogul has been vocal about wanting her sister to find love and happiness again, especially after the tumultuous relationship she had with Thompson.Khloé has been focusing on co-parenting her daughter True with Thompson since their breakup, but sources say that Kim believes it’s time for her sister to start thinking about her own needs and desires. “Kim has been encouraging Khloé to go out and meet new people, to have fun and not be afraid to put herself out there again,” a source close to the family revealed.
Despite the challenges Khloé has faced in her past relationships, Kim is confident that her sister will find someone who truly appreciates her and treats her with the love and respect she deserves. “Khloé is such a strong and beautiful woman, and Kim just wants to see her happy and fulfilled in all aspects of her life,” the source added.
Fans have been eagerly awaiting Khloé’s return to the dating scene, and it seems like she may finally be ready to take that step with the support of her loving sister. Only time will tell who will be lucky enough to win Khloé’s heart next.

Actress Kathy Griffin has previously expressed her displeasure with Donald Trump’s victory in the presidential elections. A video of Kathy even went viral in November, where she seemed quite frustrated and called America “racist & misogynistic.”
On Tuesday, December 31, Kathy appeared on Chicago’s WGN radio to promote her touring comedy show My Life on the PTSD List. The comedian mentioned that she could finally fly again after reportedly being on the “no-fly” list after she shared the infamous photo holding a mask that looked like a severed head of Trump.
On Tuesday, Kathy Griffin claimed that the situation could get worse once Donald Trump’s tenure began. She said:
“Come see me before I’m in one of those internment camps.”
Netizens noticed the remark and shared their opinions on social media platforms. Many described her as dramatic, while some claimed she was trying to be relevant. A user wrote on X:
“Kathy stay dramatic smh!”
Another netizen tweeted:
“It would be peak comedy if this actually happened. Funnier than her entire career.”
“She’s trying so hard to be relevant,” added a tweet.
“She’ll be so disappointed when no one comes knocking and no one cares,” mentioned a user.
Others claimed that Trump’s tenure would actually improve the USA’s condition. Some even made comments about her comic sense. A user tweeted:
“If only that was true. America would be a better place.”
“I’ll wait until after maybe she’ll finally be funny,” read a tweet.
“If I thought she was funny, I would have seen her by now ,” commented another user.
Kathy Griffin mentioned that she apparently was on Donald Trump’s “enemies list”
During the same segment on Tuesday where Kathy Griffin spoke about internment camps, she also claimed that she was on Trump’s “enemies list” and that he was scared in 2017 when she shared the parody photo. The 64-year-old comedian said:
“I’m on the enemies list. That’s very obvious. He was very, very scared when I did a parody photo of him and a Halloween mask and a lot of ketchup. And he brings up my name every chance he gets.”
Griffin further recalled that she had personally known Trump for about three decades, since the time she was working for the Bravo network. She added that it was time for Donald Trump to be taken seriously. The comedian further recalled that back in the day, a lot of them considered Trump a “harmless buffoon.”
According to Kathy Griffin, Trump’s remarks about building camps for his enemies made her feel otherwise. She concluded by clarifying that she was not leaving since she had a great group of friends and also four dogs.
In 2019, Kathy Griffin mentioned to NPR that she wanted to do a photoshoot to shame Trump, referring to the 2017 photos. The comedian faced massive backlash after she posted the controversial image back. Two years later, in 2019, a movie titled Kathy Griffin: A Hell Of A Story was released, explaining the aftermath of what the comedian had to face after the incident.

Kathy stay dramatic: Internet reacts as Kathy Griffin urges fans to see her perform before she’s placed in Trump’s ‘internment camps’Kathy Griffin, the outspoken comedian known for her controversial humor and bold statements, has once again sparked a reaction online. In a recent tweet, Griffin urged her fans to come see her perform live before she’s inevitably placed in one of Trump’s ‘internment camps’.
The tweet, which was met with a mix of amusement and concern from followers, has since gone viral, with many expressing their support for Griffin while also questioning the seriousness of her statement.
One user wrote, “Kathy, you never fail to bring the drama! But seriously, stay safe out there.” Another commented, “I love Kathy’s fearlessness, but this is getting a little too real for comfort.”
Griffin has been a vocal critic of President Trump since his election in 2016, often using her platform to speak out against his policies and actions. Her latest tweet seems to be a reflection of the fear and uncertainty that many Americans are feeling in the current political climate.
While some may view Griffin’s statement as melodramatic, it serves as a reminder of the very real threats and challenges that many individuals are facing in today’s society. Whether or not Griffin’s words are meant to be taken literally, they have certainly sparked a conversation online about the state of our country and the importance of speaking out against injustice.
As Griffin continues to use her platform to push boundaries and challenge the status quo, it’s clear that she will always be a divisive figure. But one thing is for certain: Kathy Griffin isn’t afraid to speak her mind, no matter the consequences. And in a time when many are feeling voiceless and afraid, perhaps that’s exactly what we need.

Herald urges shareholders to VOTE AGAINST Saba’s resolutions
Following its announcement on 20 December, Herald (HRI) has released a circular strongly outlining why the board believes shareholders should vote against all of Saba’s proposed resolutions. The circular also contains a notice of the requisitioned general meeting which is to be held at 10-11 Charterhouse Square, London EC1M 6EE on 22 January 2025 at 12 noon.
The circular, extracts from which are reproduced below, focuses on the lack of relevant information provided by Saba and the impressive long term returns generated by HRI, and reflects a similar view to our own position: [QD comment from Matthew Read: Saba’s proposal is utter madness in our view. Why would the shareholders of any of Saba’s targets want to hand over control to one dominant shareholder who can then act entirely in its own interest, rather than the collective interests of all? In Herald’s case, Saba Capital has acquired around 20% of the trust’s issued share capital but, because of the long-running issue of retail investors who hold their shares through the platforms tending not to vote, investors such as Saba get a disproportionate share of the vote. This is a concern, particularly for a trust such as Herald whose investments are very long-term in nature (it has a very long tail of small investments) as Saba’s proposals are very short-term and look likely to erode significant value for long-term investors were Saba able to drive through what would amount to a fire sale for Herald’s portfolio.]
Why you should reject Saba’s Demands and VOTE AGAINST the proposed Requisitioned Resolutions
The board believes that, since its inception, Saba has materially underperformed Herald. Since Saba’s inception in April 2009, Herald has produced a NAV total return of over 865%. You should vote against the requisitioned resolutions to avoid losing the opportunity to remain invested in Herald’s strategy, which has been highly successful over the long term.
- Saba’s opportunistic proposal to take control: Your board believes the requisition is part of a campaign by Saba to take control of your company. Your board believes that only votes against the requisitioned resolutions can protect shareholders’ interests.
- Your board believes that if Saba gains control and seeks to implement a different strategy, significant value could be lost for shareholders as a result of forced selling of parts of the portfolio.
- In recent weeks, Saba has been building its interests in the company while shares have traded at very low single-figure discounts. Your board believes this may demonstrate that Saba wishes to take control of your company for its own economic benefit rather than due to concerns about the company’s performance or share rating.
- Saba has stated that it intends to propose that Saba be appointed as the manager to pursue its own investment strategy, which is expected to be focused on the short-term and fundamentally different from your company’s current investment policy. However, Saba has failed to provide concrete details of these plans and the terms upon which it would be appointed.
In an open letter to the shareholders of the targeted trusts, Saba explained that it intends to requisition each of the boards of the targeted trusts to convene general meetings, at the latest, by early February 2025 with a view to removing each of the targeted trusts’ existing directors and appointing Saba nominated directors in their place. Saba also confirmed that its nominated directors, if elected to office, will consider terminating each of the targeted trusts’ existing management contracts and offering liquidity near to net asset value, and that the newly constituted boards will then consider new managers, with Saba proposing itself to each board. Were Saba to be appointed as manager, the board believes Saba will follow an investment strategy of purchasing discounted investment trusts and/ or combining the portfolios of the targeted trusts, that it hopes to manage, in an attempt to achieve the benefits of scale. To this end, the requisitioned resolutions seek to remove each of the company’s experienced and independent directors from office and replace them with Saba’s proposed appointees.
The board considers Saba’s claims, insofar as they are related to the company, to be unfounded and the requisitioned resolutions to be at odds with the interests of shareholders as a whole.
You should vote against the requisitioned resolutions to protect the value of your investment and to ensure Saba does not take control of your company for its own economic benefit.
- Herald’s strong, independent board and high standards of corporate governance: Saba’s proposed appointees either work for or have been nominated by Saba. They are not considered to be independent and, therefore, may not have your best interests at heart. Saba has given no assurance that the current safeguards for shareholders, described on pages 10 to 12 of the circular, will be retained if Saba and the proposed appointees take control. You should vote against the requisitioned resolutions to ensure that your company retains a fully independent board focused on protecting shareholders’ interests.
- Herald’s investment outlook: The technology sector is experiencing a particularly dynamic phase. Drivers include: (i) the rapid acceleration of computational power and data analytical capabilities enabling new products and services driven by artificial intelligence and other disruptive technologies; (ii) the journey to net zero; and (iii) an unstable world geopolitically leading to innovation in the defense and cybersecurity sectors, amongst others. Investments in the company’s target companies often start small and need to be nurtured to enhance value for shareholders. You should vote against the requisitioned resolutions to remain invested in the company’s distinctive investment strategy.
For these reasons, and those set out below, your board recommends unanimously that all shareholders vote against each of the requisitioned resolutions.
The proposals are not in the best interest of all shareholders; the board recommends voting against the requisitioned resolutions at the requisitioned general meeting.
Andrew Joy, chairman of Herald Investment Trust plc, said: “Since launch in 1994, Herald Investment Trust’s investment strategy has delivered outstanding investment performance and substantial returns for its shareholders, and its offering is both successful and unique in the UK-listed investment company sector. The board believes Saba wishes to take control of the company for its own economic benefit and to change the company’s investment strategy, which your board believes could result in significant value being lost for you, our shareholders. We have outlined in the circular posted today why the proposals from Saba are not in the best interests of all shareholders, and we strongly urge all shareholders to vote against the requisitioned resolutions proposed.”
HRI: Herald urges shareholders to VOTE AGAINST Saba’s resolutions
Dear Shareholders,We urge you to carefully consider and vote against the resolutions proposed by Saba at the upcoming shareholder meeting. As a herald for responsible corporate governance, we believe that these resolutions are not in the best interest of the company or its shareholders.
It is important to thoroughly review the proposals put forth by Saba and to consider the potential impact on the company’s long-term growth and profitability. We believe that these resolutions may undermine the company’s ability to create value for its shareholders and could lead to unnecessary risks and uncertainties.
We urge you to exercise your voting rights and cast your vote against these resolutions to protect the interests of all shareholders. Your vote can make a difference in ensuring that the company continues to operate in a transparent and responsible manner.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Notable Analyst Urges Texas Longhorns QB Quinn Ewers to Transfer
The Texas Longhorns have gone on an impressive run this season. Led by quarterback Quinn Ewers, the Longhorns are now set to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes in the upcoming Cotton Bowl on January 10.
With that being said, Ewers himself is dealing with a tough decision ahead of him.
It was widely expected at the beginning of the year that Ewers would be a top-tier quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft class. He has fallen off quite a bit from that expectation.
While he would still be drafted, he may not even be a first or even second round pick right now. Could that possibly lead to him wanting to come back for one more year of college football?
Unfortunately for Ewers, Texas seems ready to move on and start Arch Manning in 2025. That could mean that if Ewers opted for one more college season, he would have to transfer elsewhere.
That is exactly what NFL Draft expert Todd McShay would like to see him do.

“I know that Quinn has said he’s leaving this year and going to the NFL, I think he should reconsider,” McShay said. “I think Quinn Ewers would benefit… I think playing more, different environment, getting out of Austin, different system, could bring out the best in him.”
McShay may think the grass would be greener elsewhere, but Texas has offered Ewers a great place to play. Their system has fit his play style and they have surrounded him with talent.
Granted, he could transfer to another team and end up finding major success. One potential team that could be a team to watch in the transfer portal would be the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. That would be a quality landing spot that would offer Ewers a chance at some success.
During the 2024 college football season, Ewers completed 66.5 percent of his pass attempts for 3,189 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions. He has also scored two touchdowns on the ground.
He is still one of the most talented quarterbacks in the nation and would be a hot commodity if he did choose to test the transfer portal market.
All of that being said, Ewers will have to make a tough decision. Does he return to college and transfer away from the Longhorns? Or does he simply try his luck in the 2025 NFL Draft?
Only time will tell, but it’s a decision that he will have to make in the near future.

Recently, a notable analyst has urged Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers to consider transferring to another school. Ewers, a highly touted recruit and former five-star prospect, has struggled to find playing time in his first season with the Longhorns. The analyst, who has closely followed Ewers’ career, believes that a transfer could be beneficial for the young quarterback. With the emergence of another quarterback on the Texas roster, Ewers may have a better opportunity to showcase his talents and compete for a starting job elsewhere.
While Ewers may have had high expectations coming into Texas, it is important for him to prioritize his development and playing time. A transfer could provide him with the opportunity to grow and succeed at a new program.
It will be interesting to see if Ewers considers this advice and makes a move in the near future. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

WHO urges China to share Covid origins data, five years on from pandemic’s emergence
Hong Kong
CNN
—
The World Health Organization has urged China to share data to help understand the origins of Covid-19, five years on from the start of the pandemic in the Chinese city of Wuhan.
On December 31, 2019, the WHO’s China office noted a cluster of “pneumonia” cases in a statement from health authorities in Wuhan. More than three weeks later, Chinese authorities locked down the city of 11 million.
Fears of a rapidly spreading virus gripped the nation, but – as authorities would later learn – the coronavirus had already spread far beyond China.
While much of the world has moved on from the pandemic lockdowns and restrictions, many questions remain about the source of a virus that killed at least seven million people, crippled health care systems and upended the global economy. And many experts say China’s opacity has made finding answers to the pandemic’s origins harder.
“We continue to call on China to share data and access so we can understand the origins of COVID-19. This is a moral and scientific imperative,” the WHO said in a statement on Monday.
“Without transparency, sharing, and cooperation among countries, the world cannot adequately prevent and prepare for future epidemics and pandemics.”
China’s Foreign Ministry defended the country’s handling of Covid-19 data at a regular news conference Tuesday.
“On the issue of Covid-19 origin tracing, China has always adhered to the spirit of science, openness and transparency, actively supported and participated in global scientific tracing, and resolutely opposed any form of political manipulation,” said Mao Ning, a spokesperson for the ministry.
“China has shared the most data and research results on the issue of Covid-19 origin tracing, and has made the greatest contribution to global tracing research,” Mao added.
How the pandemic started has been a subject of intense scientific scrutiny as well as heated political debates, with opinions divided primarily over whether it originated from a natural animal spillover or a lab leak.
Many scientists believe the virus originated in the wild, before it jumped from infected animals to humans and spread through a wet market in Wuhan, though they haven’t been able to identify the intermediate host.
Suspicions that the coronavirus was leaked from a laboratory near the market, which was first dismissed as a conspiracy theory, have persisted and been endorsed by some researchers.
The search for the origins of the virus has been hugely controversial from the onset and a key source of political tension. The United States and other Western countries have repeatedly accused China of withholding access to original and complete data – which Beijing has vehemently denied.
WHO officials have also criticized China’s tight control of data access, with one official calling its lack of data disclosure “simply inexcusable” in 2023.
Chinese disease control officials responded at the time, saying China had provided the WHO’s expert group with all information it had on the origins of the virus “without withholding any cases, samples, or their testing and analysis results.”
For years, the global health agency has sought access to test results from workers at the market, as well as other raw data that China collected early on in the pandemic.
It was only in 2023, three years after the start of the pandemic, that WHO got access to certain data that Chinese scientists had gathered in early 2020 at the Huanan Seafood Market in Wuhan. The raw genetic sequences from the samples had been uploaded to the data-sharing site GISAID. They were soon removed, but quick-thinking researchers had already noticed them and downloaded them for further study.
An analysis of that material, published in the peer-reviewed journal Cell in September, showed that coronavirus-susceptible animals and the coronavirus that causes Covid-19 were present at a specific section of the market, although the study did not confirm whether the animals themselves were infected with the virus.
In its statement on Monday, the WHO recounted how on December 31, 2019, its country office in China picked up a statement from the Wuhan municipal health commission’s website on cases of “viral pneumonia” in the city.
“In the weeks, months and years that unfolded after that, COVID-19 came to shape our lives and our world,” it said.
“As we mark this milestone, let’s take a moment to honour the lives changed and lost, recognize those who are suffering from COVID-19 and long COVID, express gratitude to the health workers who sacrificed so much to care for us, and commit to learning from COVID-19 to build a healthier tomorrow.”
In a recent statement, the World Health Organization (WHO) has urged China to share all relevant data related to the origins of the Covid-19 virus, as the world marks five years since the emergence of the pandemic.Despite numerous investigations and research efforts, the exact origins of the virus remain unclear, with some theories suggesting it may have originated from a wet market in Wuhan, China. However, the lack of transparency and cooperation from Chinese authorities has hindered efforts to fully understand how the virus first emerged.
The WHO has called on China to provide all necessary data and information to help shed light on the origins of the virus, in order to prevent future pandemics and ensure global health security. It is crucial that all countries work together in a transparent and collaborative manner to uncover the truth behind the Covid-19 pandemic.
As the world continues to grapple with the ongoing impact of the virus, it is imperative that we learn from the past and take proactive steps to prevent similar outbreaks in the future. By sharing Covid origins data, China can help to build trust and cooperation in the global fight against pandemics.
Let us all join hands in urging China to prioritize transparency and accountability in sharing crucial information that could help us better understand and combat the Covid-19 virus. Only by working together can we hope to overcome this unprecedented global health crisis.

WASHINGTON − Rep. Mike Lawler, R-N.Y., argued on Sunday that Republicans considering voting against House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., for another term in his leadership post are “playing with fire.”
Lawler’s comments come after a government shutdown fight that divided some Republicans earlier this month. Johnson had supported a bipartisan deal to keep the government’s doors open, but he backed away from it after President-elect Donald Trump and billionaire Elon Musk attacked the plan.
A Trump-backed replacement bill failed in the House after Democrats and 38 Republicans voted against it. Dozens of Republican lawmakers also rejected the government funding agreement that the House ultimately passed just hours before the shutdown deadline.
House lawmakers on Friday are set to hold a formal vote on the speakership. Johnson picked up support from the Republican conference earlier this year to continue serving as speaker, but some Republicans haven’t committed to backing him this week.
“The fact is that Mike Johnson inherited a disaster when Matt Gaetz and several of my colleagues teamed up with 208 Democrats to remove Kevin McCarthy, which will go down as the single stupidest thing I’ve ever seen in politics,” Lawler told ABC’s “This Week.”
Eight Republicans, led by former Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz, ousted McCarthy after he worked with Democrats to avoid a government shutdown last year.
“With that said, removing Mike Johnson would equally be as stupid. The fact is that these folks are playing with fire, and if they think they’re somehow going to get a more conservative speaker, they’re kidding themselves,” he added.
Lawler warned in the interview that he doesn’t think the House can certify Trump’s win in the 2024 presidential election on Jan. 6 without a speaker. When McCarthy was ousted last year, the House was frozen for weeks as Republicans struggled to pick a new leader.
“To waste time over a nonsensical intramural food fight is a joke. And I think my colleagues, if they didn’t learn anything from the 118th Congress, it should be that we absolutely do not need a fight over the speakership,” he said.
One hardline conservative, Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., said he wouldn’t back Johnson for speaker, while other Republicans appear to be weighing whether to support him.
“I will vote for someone other than Mike Johnson. I’m not persuaded by the ‘hurry up and elect him so we can certify the election on J6’ argument. A weak legislative branch, beholden to the swamp, will not be able to achieve the mandate voters gave Trump and Congress in November,” Massie wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
In a recent statement, GOP lawmaker urges Republicans to throw their support behind Mike Johnson in the upcoming speaker vote. Johnson, a strong conservative voice in Congress, has proven himself to be a dedicated and effective leader, and is the best choice to lead the party forward. With his unwavering commitment to conservative principles and proven track record of getting things done, Mike Johnson is the clear choice for speaker of the House. He has the experience, the vision, and the leadership skills needed to unite the party and advance our agenda.
As we head into this crucial vote, it is imperative that Republicans come together and rally behind Mike Johnson. By supporting him for speaker, we can ensure that our party remains strong and focused on delivering results for the American people.
Let’s stand together and support Mike Johnson for speaker of the House. Our future depends on it. #MikeJohnsonforSpeaker #GOPunity

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University’s athletic program is facing uncertain times following the mass exodus from the Pac-12.
The Cougars are set to play Syracuse in the Holiday Bowl without their head coach and half of their offense, who have moved to other schools.
Former WSU quarterback Jack Thompson, who played from 1975 to 1978, emphasized the importance of supporting the university during these challenging times.
“That’s how Cougs are… and these are times that we need to come together… and do what we can… whatever we can,” Thompson said.
Thompson highlighted the resilient and loyal culture of WSU, urging fans to embrace it. He suggested several ways to support the college, whether financially or by attending games and watching them on TV.
“Keep every screen in the house tuned in to the Cougs game,” he advised.
Thompson also encouraged hiring Cougar alumni for services to keep money local, which could eventually benefit the school.
“Ya know this Cougar culture is real, and we need to build on that because we all know it’s a special place… and we’ll get through this, it’s not if, it’s only when,” he added.
Despite the challenges, Thompson expressed pride in the current players and coaches for their resolve. He noted the team’s focus and motivation during practices, saying they are committed to interim coach Pete Kaligis and the WSU culture.
Thompson praised Kaligis for staying with the team out of love for the school and players, even when he had other offers.
“Cougars should be counting our blessings that we have a guy like him who chose to step into the breach, when everything hit the fan he calmed things down and got people focused on the real task at hand,” Thompson stated.
The Holiday Bowl is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on FOX. Fans are encouraged to tune in and support the team.
Former Washington State University quarterback Luke Falk is calling on the public to show their support for collegiate athletics during these uncertain times. With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic causing disruptions to sports programs across the country, Falk believes it is more important than ever for fans and alumni to rally behind their teams. In a recent interview with Spokane News, Falk emphasized the impact that the pandemic has had on student-athletes, coaches, and staff at universities like WSU. “These are challenging times for everyone involved in collegiate athletics,” Falk said. “It’s crucial that we come together as a community to show our support and ensure that these programs continue to thrive.”
Falk, who played for the Cougars from 2014 to 2017, understands the importance of athletics in bringing people together and fostering a sense of pride and unity. He urged fans to donate to athletic programs, attend games (when it is safe to do so), and show their support on social media.
As universities navigate the uncertain future of college sports, Falk hopes that the public will step up and help ensure the continued success of programs like WSU’s. “We need to show our student-athletes that we are behind them, no matter what challenges they may face,” Falk said. “Together, we can help them overcome adversity and continue to excel on and off the field.”
So, let’s heed Falk’s call to action and support our beloved Washington State University athletics during these trying times. Go Cougs!
