  • Colin Jost On Scarlett Johansson’s “Vagina Joke” From ‘SNL’s Joke Swap: “Was Genuinely So Shocked”

Colin Jost says Scarlett Johansson was “genuinely so shocked” over the “vagina joke” on Saturday Night Live.

Jost and his “Weekend Update” co-host Michael Che have made a joke swap tradition by writing jokes for each other.

On the Christmas episode, which aired on December 21, Che wrote a joke about the Avengers star, which Jost read during the live show while Johansson watched backstage.

The Pop Culture Jeopardy host appeared on The Tonight Show, where host Jimmy Fallon asked Jost if he was “in trouble with Scarlett” following the show.

“I’m in trouble, I think, with a lot of people,” Jost told Fallon. “Scarlett was genuinely so shocked.”

Jost revealed that SNL had given Johansson a “heads up” that they would make a crude joke at her expense, which she was game for.

“They were like, ‘Hey, would you be okay if Michael made a little, like, kind of vagina joke at some point?’ She was like, ‘Sure, whatever, I’m open to it.’ I didn’t know where it was going,” Jost told Fallon.

When Jost made the joke, cameras caught Johansson’s shocked face. Jost said his reaction to her reaction was genuine because “I can’t act that well.”

On the Christmas episode, Jost and Che swapped jokes, with Jost making a joke likening Costco’s roast beef sandwich to Johansson’s vagina.

“Costco has removed the roast beef sandwich from their menu. But I ain’t tripping. I’ve been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid,” Jost joked.

In a recent episode of ‘SNL’s Joke Swap, Colin Jost found himself in the hot seat after being asked to deliver a risqué joke about his fiancée, Scarlett Johansson. The joke in question? A one-liner about Johansson’s “vagina.”

During the segment, Jost nervously delivered the joke, which elicited a mix of shock and laughter from the audience. In a recent interview, Jost admitted that he was caught off guard by the joke and was genuinely surprised by the direction it took.

“Scarlett and I have a great sense of humor and we’re always joking around with each other, but I was genuinely so shocked by that joke,” Jost said. “I mean, leave it to ‘SNL’ to push the boundaries, but I definitely did not see that one coming.”

Despite his initial shock, Jost took the joke in stride and praised the writers for their creativity and boldness. “I have to hand it to the writers, they really know how to keep us on our toes,” he said. “And hey, if Scarlett can take a joke like that, then so can I.”

Fans of the couple can rest assured that Jost and Johansson have a solid sense of humor and can laugh off even the most unexpected jokes about their relationship. And who knows, maybe we’ll see more of their playful banter in future ‘SNL’ episodes.

  • Colin Jost says Scarlett Johansson was ‘shocked’ by ‘SNL’ vagina joke

Colin Jost is explaining how his wife, Scarlett Johansson, really felt when he joked about her on a recent episode of Saturday Night Live.

It happened when Jost and cohost Michael Che were anchoring the “Weekend Update” segment in the last episode of the year, in which the two tell jokes that were written for them for by the other and that they haven’t seen. As viewers saw on the Dec. 21 episode, this time it referred to Marvel actress Johansson, who Jost married in 2020.

“Scarlett was genuinely so shocked,” Jost told the host on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “Because I was obviously surprised about everything, but they gave her a heads up. They were like, ‘Hey, would you be okay if Michael made a little, like, kind of vagina joke at some point?’ And she was like, ‘Sure! You know, whatever. I’m open to it.’”

Jost couldn’t help but laugh as he read the words on the air last month. He said that he didn’t mind that roast beef sandwiches had been removed from Costco’s menu, because he’d “been eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid.”

In the moment, Jost laughed so hard he put his head in his hands. Johansson, who was watching backstage but was shown to the audience, dropped her mouth open.

“So then, when it was like the opposite,” Jost said, “I didn’t know where it was going. And then the graphic came up.”

He continued, “So Scarlett is backstage like, ‘Oh, my God! That’s what it is.”

Jost and Johansson married in 2020 and welcomed a son, Cosmo, in August 2021. (She’s also mom to 10-year-old daughter Rose, whom she shares with ex-husband Romain Dauriac.)

The couple met on one of the occasions when the star of movies including Jojo Rabbit, Lost in Translation, and Ghost World appeared on SNL. She’s hosted an impressive six times, so surely she can take a joke.

Jost, a “Weekend Update” anchor since 2014, agreed with Fallon that his delivery of the funny lines was “a legitimate, live moment” and that he wasn’t acting.

“I can’t act that well,” he deadpanned.

The Jan. 25 episode of SNL will be hosted by Timothée Chalamet, who plays Bob Dylan in the new biopic A Complete Unknown. He will also be the musical guest.

Saturday Night Live airs at Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET/8:30 p.m. PT on NBC.

In a recent interview with Howard Stern, “Saturday Night Live” star Colin Jost revealed that his wife, Scarlett Johansson, was “shocked” by a vagina joke he made during a Weekend Update segment.

During the interview, Jost explained that he had made a joke about a study that found women are more likely to orgasm if their feet are warm. He then joked that the study was actually funded by Ugg boots.

Johansson, who was in the audience at the time, was reportedly surprised by the joke and asked Jost about it later. Jost said he assured her that it was just a joke and not meant to be taken seriously.

Despite the initial shock, Jost said that Johansson has a great sense of humor and is supportive of his work on “SNL.”

It’s always interesting to get a behind-the-scenes look at the dynamics between Jost and Johansson, and it’s clear that they have a fun and playful relationship.

  • Colin Jost Reveals How That Wild Vagina Joke About Wife Scarlett Johansson Went Over

SNL” star Colin Jost is finally sharing how that racy “Weekend Update” joke in December went over with his wife, Scarlett Johansson, whose vagina he compared on-air to a roast beef sandwich from Costco — to raucous laughter from the audience and himself alike.

“Scarlett was genuinely so shocked,” Jost told Jimmy Fallon on Monday’s “Tonight Show.”

The recurring segment in which Jost and his co-star Michael Che write jokes for each other — and then have to read them aloud no matter what — left Jost as stunned as his wife, who was backstage during the broadcast and reacted with a facial expression for the ages.

“I was obviously surprised by everything, but they gave her a heads-up,” Jost told Fallon. “They were like, ‘Hey, would you be OK if Michael made a little, like, kind of vagina joke at some point?’ And she was like, ‘Sure!’ You know, ‘Whatever, I’m open to it.’”

“I didn’t know where it was going, and then the graphic came up for [Costco],” he continued, prompting audible laughs of recognition from the audience. “So Scarlett is backstage like, ’Oh my God! That’s what it is?!”

The premise of the joke in question concerned Costco removing its roast beef sandwich from its menu, and with an image of the meal appearing onscreen behind Jost, he said at the time: “But I ain’t tripping, I be eating roast beef every night since my wife had the kid.”

Jost and Johansson tied the knot in 2020 and welcomed their son, Cosmo, in 2021.

Johansson, who mouthed an apparent “Oh my God” from backstage after Jost delivered the R-rated dig, previously admitted that the joke swaps are “brutal” and get “worse” every year — and joked that she blacks out “for that period of the night” every time.

The Marvel actor nonetheless understands that this is all just comedy, however, and praised her husband on “Live with Kelly and Mark” last year as “a very, very, very great guy.”

“I’m extremely lucky,” Johansson said at the time. “He’s a kind person and he’s hilarious and thoughtful and loving and he’s a great dad and I love him. I feel very, very lucky. But he’s also, he’s got his naughty side. He keeps it interesting.”

Colin Jost, the Saturday Night Live star, recently opened up about the reaction to a controversial joke he made about his wife, Scarlett Johansson, during a stand-up comedy show.

During a set at the New York Comedy Club, Jost joked about how his wife’s “wild vagina” was a topic of conversation among his friends. The joke quickly went viral, with many fans and critics questioning the appropriateness of making such a personal and explicit joke about his wife.

In a recent interview, Jost revealed that he had discussed the joke with Johansson before including it in his routine, and that she was supportive of his comedy and understood that it was all in good fun.

Jost also explained that he and Johansson have a strong and trusting relationship, and that they both have a good sense of humor about each other. He emphasized that his comedy is all in good fun and meant to entertain his audience.

While some may find the joke controversial, it seems that Jost and Johansson are able to laugh it off and not take themselves too seriously. It goes to show that even in the world of celebrity relationships, a little humor and understanding can go a long way.
