Eagles Rumors: QB Ian Book Visits Team amid Jalen Hurts, Kenny Pickett Injuries | News, Scores, Highlights, Stats, and Rumors

The Philadelphia Eagles are reportedly eyeing some additional depth at quarterback amid injuries to Jalen Hurts and Kenny Pickett.

Per NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the team met with Ian Book on Wednesday. Hurts suffered a concussion on Sunday while his backup, Pickett suffered an injury to his ribs.

Book was a fourth-round draft pick in 2021 to the New Orleans Saints out of Notre Dame. His rookie season was the only year he saw regular season action, playing one game for the Saints and completing 12 of his 20 passes for 135 yards and three interceptions.

After being waived by the Saints in August 2022, he had his first stint with Philadelphia as the Eagles picked him for the 2022 season. He didn’t see any action during his sole season with the Eagles.

Book was briefly on the New England Patriots practice squad in 2023 and signed a future/reserve contract with the Kansas City Chiefs in January. Kansas City waived him in August.

With both Hurts and Pickett questionable for Sunday’s matchup with the Dallas Cowboys, Tanner McKee is the Eagles’ third-string option under center. McKee, a sixth-round draft pick in the 2023 draft, has yet to see any regular-season action in the NFL but could make his debut against the Cowboys if neither Hurts nor Pickett is ready to go.

Hurts suffered the concussion in the first quarter of last week’s matchup and was replaced by Pickett, who completed 14 of his 24 passes for 143 yards, a touchdown and an interception. It’s unclear when Pickett suffered his injury, but he received X-rays after the game.

Though the Eagles didn’t practice on Wednesday because of Christmas, Philadelphia estimated Hurts as a non-participant while Pickett was limited, per Pro Football Talk’s Charean Williams.

In the latest Eagles rumors, quarterback Ian Book has reportedly visited the team amid injuries to both Jalen Hurts and Kenny Pickett. With uncertainty surrounding the quarterback position, could Book be a potential solution for the Eagles?

Hurts suffered an ankle injury in the previous game, and Pickett has been dealing with a shoulder injury, leaving the Eagles with limited options at quarterback. Book, a former Notre Dame standout, has been a free agent since being released by the New Orleans Saints earlier this season.

Book’s visit to the Eagles could indicate that the team is exploring all options to address their quarterback situation. While Hurts and Pickett’s injuries are not believed to be season-ending, having a reliable backup like Book could provide insurance for the team moving forward.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as the Eagles continue to navigate their quarterback situation. Follow along for the latest news, scores, highlights, stats, and rumors surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles. #FlyEaglesFly #IanBook #EaglesRumors
