  • LaMelo Ball leads all Eastern Conference guards in early All-Star fan voting

LaMelo Ball leads all Eastern Conference guards in early All-Star fan voting

The Charlotte Hornets have a global superstar in their midst.

According to the NBA, Charlotte’s LaMelo Ball leads all Eastern Conference guards in All-Star fan votes received with 947,444. Ball’s astronomical number places him fourth overall in the East behind Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum, and Karl-Anthony Towns, and ninth in the league behind the Western Conference’s Nikola Jokić, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Ball deserves the accolade. The effervescent point guard has been one of the league’s most productive guards when healthy, a true elite offense unto himself with style to match the substance of his game.

LaMelo’s nightly highlight reel can go clip-for-clip with anybody in the league with the ability to do it statistically as well. Ball leads the Hornets in scoring (30.1 points per game), assists (7.4 per night), and steals (1.7) while ranking in the top-five on the team in rebounds. An All-Star nod in 2025 would be the second of Ball’s young career.

While Ball winning the East’s fan vote would do nothing but help his chances to make the game, it’s only a piece of the overall voting pie. Fan voting counts as 50% of the NBA’s All-Star formula, while player and media voting makes up the other 50% with 25% each. The next fan vote release will be next Thursday, January 9th.

The All-Star game is set to tip-off at the home of the Golden State Warriors on Sunday, February 16th. The league’s new format has fans both buzzing about the annual contest and questioning the merit of a four-team tournament.

Who are the untradable players on the Charlotte Hornets’ roster?

LaMelo Ball, the electrifying point guard for the Charlotte Hornets, is making a strong case for his first NBA All-Star appearance. In the latest round of fan voting, Ball leads all Eastern Conference guards, surpassing other well-known names in the league.

At just 20 years old, Ball has been a standout player for the Hornets this season, showcasing his flashy passing, scoring ability, and overall impact on the court. His exciting style of play has captured the attention of fans across the league, leading to his impressive showing in the All-Star voting.

While the final All-Star rosters are determined by a combination of fan, player, and media voting, Ball’s current lead in the fan vote is a testament to his growing popularity and impact in the league. If he continues to perform at a high level, there’s a good chance we’ll see him suiting up for the Eastern Conference in the All-Star game.

Whether or not Ball ultimately makes the All-Star team, his early success in the fan voting is a reflection of his bright future in the NBA. Fans are clearly excited about what he brings to the table, and it’s only a matter of time before he becomes a perennial All-Star.

  • Four Miami Dolphins Players Get Top 10 Finished in Pro Bowl Fan Voting

Four Miami Dolphins Players Get Top 10 Finished in Pro Bowl Fan Voting

Final results of the Pro Bowl fan voting are out, and the Miami Dolphins wound up with four players finishing in the top 10 in the NFL at their position.

Fullback Alec Ingold, tight end Jonnu Smith, special-teamer Siran Neal and kicker Jason Sanders all finished in the top 10, with Neal and Sanders joining the top in the final round of results.

Cornerback Jalen Ramsey was ninth at his position in the first round of results, but fell out of the top 10 and never made his way back.

The AFC and NFC player rosters for the 2025 Pro Bowl Games will be announced Thursday on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football at 9 a.m. ET.

Player selections were determined by the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches, with each group’s vote counting as one-third toward determining the all-star players who will be selected to this year’s Pro Bowl Games.

Players and coaches voted last Friday.

The 2025 Pro Bowl Games will be held in Orlando on February 2.

Ingold was fourth among NFL fullbacks (second in the AFC behind Kansas City’s Carson Steele); Smith finished fifth among NFL tight ends (third in the AFC behind Travis Kelce and Brock Bowers); and Neal and Sanders both finished 10th at their position.

The Dolphins’ showing in the fan voting is in stark contrast to what happened last year when they were all over the leaderboards after starting the season 11-4.

The Dolphins had an insane 19 players finish in the top at their position, including four who came in number 1: Bradley Chubb at outside linebacker, Duke Riley for special teams, Braxton Berrios as a returner, and Tyreek Hill at wide receiver.

Ingold and Ramsey each made the Pro Bowl in 2023 when the Dolphins had six representatives, the others being QB Tua Tagovailoa, RB Raheem Mostert, WR Tyreek Hill and T Terron Armstead.

The Miami Dolphins are making waves in this year’s Pro Bowl fan voting, with four players securing top 10 finishes in their respective positions.

Leading the pack is cornerback Xavien Howard, who earned the second-most votes among all cornerbacks in the league. Howard has been a standout player for the Dolphins this season, leading the NFL in interceptions and pass breakups.

Joining Howard in the top 10 is defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah, who secured the fifth-most votes among all defensive ends. Ogbah has been a force on the Dolphins’ defensive line, racking up sacks and tackles for loss throughout the season.

On the offensive side of the ball, tight end Mike Gesicki and wide receiver Jaylen Waddle also made the top 10 in fan voting. Gesicki has been a reliable target for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, while Waddle has quickly emerged as one of the most dynamic playmakers in the league.

With four players in the top 10 of Pro Bowl fan voting, the Dolphins are proving that they have a talented roster capable of competing with the best in the NFL. Fans can tune in to see if these players earn a spot in the Pro Bowl when the official rosters are announced in the coming weeks.

In their book “Party Identification and Beyond: Representations of Voting,” Ian Budge and Ivor Crewe delve into the complexities of political behavior and the factors that influence individuals’ voting decisions. Through their analysis, they challenge traditional notions of party identification and explore the evolving nature of voter behavior.

Budge and Crewe argue that party identification is not solely determined by long-standing allegiances to political parties, but rather is influenced by a multitude of factors, including social identities, values, and perceptions of political leaders. They suggest that individuals may identify with a party based on their personal beliefs and experiences, rather than simply following the party line.

Moreover, the authors discuss the impact of changing political landscapes and the rise of non-traditional political movements on voter behavior. They argue that individuals are increasingly willing to switch parties or support new political entities that align with their values and priorities, challenging the traditional notion of party loyalty.

Overall, “Party Identification and Beyond” provides a comprehensive analysis of the complexities of voting behavior and the evolving nature of political identities. Budge and Crewe’s insights shed light on the diverse factors that influence individuals’ voting decisions, and offer a fresh perspective on the dynamics of political engagement in modern democracies.
