Scout – an American classic off-roader and truck brand revived by Volkswagen not long ago – has shed some more light on its impending lineup of vehicles.
According to Ryan Decker, R&D boss at Scout, the vehicles will be available in all-electric and range-extender hybrid (a.k.a. serial hybrid) versions. So far, the company has received substantially more orders for the hybrids than it has done for the EVs.
Another interesting bit of info concerns engine placement. Decker says it will be mounted at the back end of the frame to minimize noise and maximize driving comfort. This could indicate that the whole powertrain may be located in the back, and that RWD may be standard for all new Scout vehicles. That said, it could be a bit early to guess – shipments aren’t expected to begin until 2027 or so.
