Wade Barrett admits that nobody in WWE scares him as much as 32-year-old SmackDown star
This week on SmackDown, Wade Barrett made a statement that most WWE fans are probably going to agree with. The star noted that no individual star on the roster scared him as much as a 32-year-old name on the blue brand. This was The Samoan Werewolf, Jacob Fatu.
On tonight’s show, Damian Priest came out to cut a promo to set his intentions straight. He spoke briefly about his story on the main roster – going from the betrayer to the betrayed and making a statement of intent regarding what he wants on the blue brand.
He was interrupted by Jacob Fatu in what most people didn’t even think of as a dream match until that very moment. As the 32-year-old Fatu made his way to the ring with Tama Tonga by his side, Wade Barrett admitted that there was nobody on the roster who scared him like Fatu did.

And during the segment, Fatu proved exactly why Wade Barrett was right to feel that way. Not only did he cut a fantastic promo against Damian Priest, but he got into a brawl with him. LA Knight came out to even out the numbers, only for Fatu to punch the steel chair he was swinging.
Eventually, Priest and Knight got the better of the two New Bloodline members. Solo Sikoa was nowhere to be seen tonight.
During the promo, Fatu even hinted at being free and off the leash. If this is indeed the case, many feel that other superstars would share Barrett’s concern backstage.

Former NBA player Dwyane Wade has revealed that he was diagnosed with cancer.
The now-retired point guard and shooting guard said Thursday on his podcast The Why with Dwyane Wade, that 40 percent of his right kidney was removed over one year ago. The surgery came shortly after he first received the news that he had cancer.
The former Miami Heat player learned of the diagnosis after years putting off his annual check-up. After reflecting on his father’s experience with prostate cancer, Wade finally made an appointment and explained that he had symptoms including stomach issues, cramps, and was urinating slowly.
He was “checking, like, ‘Why is my piss coming out slow, why is my stream ain’t powerful? Why is it a little weak?’” he told his podcast co-host, Bob Metelus.
After receiving a full-body scan the doctor discovered a “cyst/tumor” on one of his kidneys and told Wade he needed kidney surgery, which multiple other doctors confirmed.
Wade received the kidney surgery in December 2023 (Getty Images for Out.com / equal) “I made a decision to have surgery on December 18, 2023,” Wade said. “My father was there to walk me into the hospital. My wife was there when I woke up. There’s only two people you can have in hospital.”
The biopsy after the surgery confirmed that the tumor was cancerous. “Obviously, at 41 years old [I’m a] pretty healthy guy that did have cancer,” the former athlete said.
“Thank God that I did do the surgery because the tumor was cancerous. So, I have one kidney and I have another kidney that is [at] 60 percent. They took 40 percent of my kidney to make sure they can get all the cancer off it.”
Wade did not reveal any further details about his health. But he did reveal how difficult it was to be vulnerable with his loved ones amid his diagnosis and surgery.
He shares children Zaire, 22, and Zaya, 17, with ex-wife Siovaughn Funches, son Xavier, 10, with ex Aja Metoyer and daughter Kaavia, 6, with his current wife Gabrielle Union.
As for “my own journey to have that surgery, I think it was the first time that my family, my dad, my kids, they saw me weak,” Wade said. “That moment was probably the weakest point I’ve ever felt in my life.”
The “moment I was by myself, I was struggling, dog,” he added. “One thing you never want to do as a man … is [for] your family to see you weak. It’s tough.”
He expressed how grateful he was for his family, however, to step in during his recovery as he vowed to “do things differently.”
“I saw everybody show up for me and be there for me,” Wade said. “In that process of my weakness, I found strength in my family, in my friends, in my group.”

NBA Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade revealed recently that he was diagnosed with cancer over a year ago.
The 43-year old basketball icon opened up on his “The WY Network” podcast about his health and disclosed that doctors had removed 40% of his right kidney on Dec. 18, 2023 after finding a tumor in that area that couldn’t be biopsied.
“I had a personal decision to make, and what it was was, ‘If this is cancerous, if this tumor, this cyst is cancerous, on your kidney, you’re 41 years old, you probably need surgery because it’s something that needs to be removed so it doesn’t spread,’ ” Wade said.
After the surgery, the tumor was biopsied and found to be cancerous.
“Thank God that I did do the surgery,” he said. “Because the tumor was cancerous.”
Wade explained that he hadn’t been getting regular physicals after retiring from the NBA, but some urinary health issues and his father’s battle with prostate cancer prompted him to get checked. He opted for a full-body scan, which found something else.
“What I saw in the midst of me going through my illness, I saw my family that may not always talk, may not always agree,” Wade said on the podcast. “I saw everybody show up for me and be there for me and in that process, in my weakness I found strength in my family.”
Wade, who is married to Gabrielle Union, won three titles with the Miami Heat and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2023. He averaged 22.0 points, 5.4 assists, 4.7 rebounds and 1.5 steals and shot 48% from the field in his 16-year career. He is now involved in entertainment production, broadcasting, podcasting and is a partial owner of the Utah Jazz.
What is kidney tumor cancer?
Kidney tumors are abnormal growths of tissue that may be cancerous or not, although 75% of the time they are cancerous according to the Cleveland Clinic.
Many people don’t have any pain or symptoms, but for those that do, they can include blood in the urine, pain between the ribs and hips, pain in lower back, loss of appetite, unexplained weight loss, fever or anemia.
While anyone can get a kidney tumor, they are more common in those over the age of 65, men, and Blacks and Native Americans.
According to the Cleveland Clinic, the exact causes of kidney tumors is not known, but you may increase your likelihood of developing them if you use tobacco products, drink more than seven alcoholic drinks per week on a regular basis, have obesity or family history of high blood pressure, kidney tumors or are regularly around chemicals that contain chlorine.

In comments made on his “The Why with Dwyane Wade” podcast that were published Thursday, the three-time NBA champion revealed publicly for the first time that he was dealing with some stomach and urinary issues, which led him to see a doctor after “taking a few years off from taking physicals.” Wade said he a had full-body scan, which revealed a “cyst/tumor” on his right kidney.
Multiple doctors recommended surgery, which he ultimately underwent in December 2023.
Wade said doctors removed 40% of his right kidney and that tests on the tumor after it was removed showed it was cancerous.
“Thank God that I did do the surgery,” he said.
Wade reflected on his decision to have the surgery, saying it was a low point in his life.
“I think it was the first time my family, my dad, my kids, they saw me weak,” he said. “That moment was probably the weakest point I’ve ever felt in my life. … I was struggling, dog. Struggling. And one thing you never want to do as a man is you never want your family to see you as weak. You don’t want to be perceived weak and you don’t want to be seen in your weak moments. But I had to.”
Wade praised his family for being there for him.
“In that processes of weakness, I found strength,” he said.
Wade, who retired after the 2018-19 season, holds several franchise records with the Miami Heat — including points, assists, steals, games and minutes played. His 16-year career in the NBA included 15 with the Heat, three championships and a Finals MVP in 2006.

Speaking at a wellness retreat recorded for “The Why with Dwyane Wade,” Wade said he went a few years without an annual physical, but his father’s battle with prostate cancer led to him requesting a full-body physical from a doctor. He also said he had been dealing with cramps and urinary issues.
The scan revealed a tumor on his kidney that could only be tested by surgery. After seeking opinions from multiple doctors, Wade opted for surgery on Dec. 18, 2023, which confirmed he had cancer and required removal of part of his kidney.
“Thank God that I did do the surgery because the tumor was cancerous, so I have one kidney and I have another kidney that is 60%. They took 40% of my kidney to make sure they could get all of the cancer off of it, because if it sits there on your kidney, it spreads and now they got to take more and more.”
Wade said he spoke with fellow Heat great Alonzo Mourning, who underwent a successful kidney transplant during his career in 2003, over questions about the process. He described the recovery as difficult, but found strength from his family and friends:
“My own journey, to have that surgery, I think it was the first time my family, my dad, my kids, they saw me weak. That moment was probably the weakest point I’ve ever felt in my life. The moments that I was by myself, I didn’t like. I was struggling. One thing you never want to do as a man, you never want your family to see you weak. It’s tough. Don’t want to be perceived weak and you don’t want to be seen in your weak moments, but I had to. Fortunately for me, my family got in, they jumped in.
“I saw everybody show up for me and be there for me and in that process of my weakness, I found strength in my family, in my friends, in my group. “
A year later, Wade said he was surprised by how little physical care he needed in the months after the surgery, while remaining in frequent communication with his doctor, but he described one night in which he had to go to the bathroom multiple times and had to sleep on his left side because it felt like his organs were moving.
Wade also said he has undergone a biopsy on his prostate due to his family history.
Upon reflection, he said the whole process has given him a new perspective on life:
“That moment I went through that, I told myself before I went under anesthesia, when I was like ‘If I come out of this, if the Lord brings me out of this, I’m going to do things differently.’ And I came out of that and I’ve been doing things differently. I’ve been attacking life. I’m not waiting.”
It has been nearly six years since Wade ended his NBA career with the Heat. The three-time NBA champion and 13-time All-Star was enshrined in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 2023 and received a statue at the Heat’s Kaseya Center last October.
In retirement, Wade has joined the ownership groups of the Utah Jazz and the WNBA’s Chicago Sky. He has also worked as a broadcast analyst and host of TBS’ “The Cube.”

In the episode shared exclusively with PEOPLE, Wade chronicles the “shocking” diagnosis, which came after years of him putting off going to the doctor for a physical.
Inspired by his father Dwyane Wade Sr.’s own journey with prostate cancer, the younger Wade visited the doctor and shared that he had been having stomach issues, cramps and that he was urinating slowly.
“On the process of checking, like, ‘Why is my piss coming out slow, why is my stream ain’t powerful? Why is it a little weak?’ ” Wade recalls on his podcast to co-host Bob Metelus.
A full-body scan revealed that there was a “cyst/tumor” on one of his kidneys, Wade says.
“And the doctor was like, ‘You need to have kidney surgery,’ ” he adds.

After removing nearly half of his left kidney, doctors were able to determine that the tumor was cancerous, Wade says.
No further details were immediately available about Wade’s current health.
Through the experience, the three-time NBA champion learned the true meaning of family, he says.

For the retired athlete, making the decision to undergo surgery was the right one, he says in the clip.

Showing his vulnerability was another lesson Wade learned in the process.

Wade shares two children with ex-wife Siovaughn Funches: Zaire, 22, and Zaya, 17, as well as a son, Xavier, 11, with Aja Metoyer. In 2018, Wade and his wife, actress Gabrielle Union, welcomed a daughter, Kaavia James, 6. Wade is also the legal guardian of his nephew, Dahveon Morris, 21.
He adds, “What I saw in the midst of me going through my illness, I saw my family that may not always talk, may not always agree. I saw everybody show up for me and be there for me and in that process, in my weakness I found strength in my family.”

The Cincinnati Reds are bringing back Wade Miley for 2025
The Cincinnati Reds are going to be bringing back left-handed pitcher Wade Miley for the 2025 season. Miley, who pitched for the Reds in 2020 and 2021 has agreed to a minor league deal with Cincinnati according to Gordon Wittenmyer of the Cincinnati Enquirer.
Miley joined the Chicago Cubs after Cincinnati designated him for assignment following 2021 (despite the fact that he threw 163 innings with a 3.37 ERA that year) and pitched in just nine games in 2022. He was successful in those 37.0 innings he pitched in, but injuries kept him off of the mound for much of the season. He became a free agent following 2022 and signed with Milwaukee. Mostly healthy in 2023 he posted a 3.14 ERA in 120.1 innings for the Brewers in his first season. But last year he made just two starts before his season ended.
The left-handed starter underwent Tommy John surgery after those two outings and is not expected to be ready to pitch in games again until some time in May. The 38-year-old, if he’s able to return to the mound (sometimes things don’t go as planned), will be in the minor leagues and will have to prove that he’s back and healthy, and likely have to perform quite well if he’s going to get a shot at the rotation where Cincinnati has good depth at this point in time. He hasn’t really pitched out of the bullpen much in his career, making 310 starts and just seven relief appearance since he began his big league career in 2011 with Arizona.
Still, the bullpen may be his best opportunity where he could perhaps contribute in a multi-inning role. Of course, with pitchers you never know how healthy they will stay and that good depth the Reds have among their starting pitcher group as they head into spring training may not look the same in June or July.

The Reds and veteran lefty Wade Miley have agreed to a minor league contract, reports Gordon Wittenmyer of the Cincinnati Enquirer. The O’Connell Sports Management client will earn a prorated $2.5MM base salary in the big leagues and can bump that to $4MM via innings-based incentives, reports Bob Nightengale of USA Today.
Miley, who’s on the mend from Tommy John surgery performed late last April, is aiming for a return in mid-to-late May. That’d mark a roughly 13-month recovery window if he’s able to do so. (Nightengale also adds that there’s a June 1 opt-out, though that’s standard for any Article XX(B) free agent who signs a minor league contract; Miley will also have opt-outs five days prior to Opening Day and on May 1, but he’ll still be rehabbing at both points.)
It’s the second stint with the Reds for Miley. He also pitched in Cincinnati from 2020-21, signing a two-year, $15MM contract with the Reds in the 2019-20 offseason. The Reds don’t have a glaring rotation need, as they’re currently expected to deploy Hunter Greene, Brady Singer, Nick Lodolo, Nick Martinez and Andrew Abbott — with prospects like Rhett Lowder, Chase Petty and Connor Phillips all climbing the ranks as well. However, injuries are an inevitability for any pitching staff, and Miley could provide some veteran reinforcement at about the one-third mark of the 2025 season.
Miley, 38, made only two starts with the Brewers in 2024 before requiring elbow surgery. Emotional at the time, the southpaw said he’d take some time to determine whether he wanted to return to pitching or whether the torn elbow ligament would effectively end his career. In late December, Miley made clear that indeed planned to return to the mound and hoped to do so as a member of the Brewers, with whom he’d spent the past two seasons. However, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Miley’s shortlist of clubs for which he’d pitch also included his other two most-recent employers — the Reds and the Cubs — and that Cincinnati put together a more compelling contract structure for the southpaw.
The last mostly healthy season for Miley came with Milwaukee in 2023, when he tallied 120 1/3 innings and posted a tidy 3.14 earned run average along the way. He posted just a 16.1% strikeout rate, one of the lowest in the league, and surely benefited from a .234 average on balls in play. However, Miley also displayed good command (7.8% walk rate), kept the ball on the ground at a solid clip (46.3%) and continued a careerlong trend of inducing weak contact far more often than most pitchers.
Miley has never missed many bats. Earlier in his career, he was the consummate crafty left-hander/innings eater, making 30-plus appearances each season from 2012-17. Late in that stretch, however, his career looked to be on the downswing. His already pedestrian fastball velocity dipped to just over 91 mph on average, and he was tagged for a 5.37 ERA and 5.61 ERA in consecutive seasons in 2016-17.
Miley’s career had a second act beginning with a minor league pact in Milwaukee back in 2018. Since that time, he’s only reached 100 innings three times in seven years but has been better than ever on a rate basis. Dating back to 2018, he’s tossed 589 2/3 frames with a 3.46 ERA between the Brewers, Astros, Cubs and Reds.
