  • More snow ahead Wednesday in Massachusetts – Boston News, Weather, Sports

A few Massachusetts cities and towns got a quick burst of snow Tuesday morning, but even more is on the way overnight into Wednesday.

The most widespread snow rolls in tonight past 11 p.m. or midnight through 6/7 a.m. Wednesday. This snow will be relatively light, and many of us will wake up with between 1-2 inches. Only some spotty coatings are forecast for the southeast. Morning lows will get down to the upper teens and low 20s.

While there may be a lull in the snow in the morning for many, as we usher into the afternoon and warm up a bit, there may be some spotty, hit-or-miss additional snow or rain showers. Highs will reach the upper 30s and low 40s.

While Wednesday will not be nearly as windy as it was Tuesday, we will still see winds gusting to over 25-30 mph.

Thursday is looking bright, cold and windy. Highs will only reach the low to mid 20s, but with gusty winds it’ll feel closer to the teens during the warmest part of the day. Bundle up!

A warm-up Friday will bring in some likely chances for rain. While it looks like rain for most, there may be some spots of a wintry mix in the highest elevations of the Worcester hills at times. Regardless, highs will be mild in the low to mid 40s. Winds will still be breezy with gusts over 20 mph.

Saturday will be a repeat of Thursday with bright skies and cold highs in the mid to upper 20s. Our next chance for snow comes Sunday.

As winter continues to make its presence known in Massachusetts, residents can expect even more snow on Wednesday. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for much of the state, including the Boston area.

Forecasters are predicting several inches of snowfall, with the heaviest amounts expected in the late morning and early afternoon. Commuters should be prepared for slick roads and reduced visibility, so it’s important to allow extra travel time and drive cautiously.

In addition to the snow, gusty winds may also be a factor, leading to blowing and drifting snow in some areas. This could further impact travel conditions, so it’s best to stay updated on the latest weather forecast before heading out.

Despite the inconvenience, the snow is sure to bring a picturesque winter wonderland to Massachusetts. So bundle up, stay safe, and enjoy the beauty of the season!

How to Bet on Anna Kalinskaya vs. Simona Waltert

Kalinskaya vs. Waltert Prediction at the Singapore Open – Wednesday, January 29

The Singapore Open is heating up as top players clash on the courts, and one match to keep an eye on is the showdown between Anna Kalinskaya and Leonie Waltert. Both players have shown great skill and determination in their matches so far, making this an exciting match-up to watch.

Kalinskaya, the 22-year-old Russian player, has been in fine form recently and has been making a name for herself on the WTA Tour. She has a powerful game with a strong serve and aggressive groundstrokes, which can trouble her opponents. Kalinskaya has the ability to dictate play and put pressure on her opponents, making her a dangerous player on any surface.

On the other hand, Waltert, the 21-year-old Swiss player, has been steadily climbing up the rankings and has shown great potential in her young career. She has a solid all-around game with good court coverage and a strong defensive game. Waltert has the ability to absorb her opponent’s pace and turn defense into offense, which can frustrate her opponents.

In this match-up, I predict that Kalinskaya will have the edge over Waltert. Kalinskaya’s aggressive style of play and powerful shots will likely overwhelm Waltert and force her into defensive positions. Unless Waltert can find a way to disrupt Kalinskaya’s rhythm and dictate play herself, I see Kalinskaya coming out on top in this match.

Tune in to the Singapore Open on Wednesday, January 29, to see how this exciting match unfolds!

  • How much are we getting Wednesday? – NBC Boston

A breezy and mild Monday is in store for southern New England, with winds gusting between 25 and 35 mph, and temperatures reaching the upper 30s to low 40s.

Dry conditions will persist, but a cold front arriving early Tuesday morning will bring another blast of cold by Thursday morning. Expect snow squalls between 4 and 9 a.m.

How much snow are we getting in Massachusetts?

Coverage of snow bursts will not be impressive but those that do see morning snow will see conditions deteriorate quickly, with reduced visibility and slick spots. Winds will also ramp up, with gusts potentially reaching 45 to 50 mph through the early afternoon.

Temperatures will peak early in the day before rapidly dropping into the teens and 20s by the afternoon, making it feel even colder with the strong winds.

Following the cold front, a weak clipper system will bring a chance for light snow on Wednesday, with accumulations generally expected to be minor, two inches or less, with a few higher accumulations in central Mass. High pressure then builds in, bringing dry but colder weather for the latter half of the week, with below-normal temperatures and gusty northwest winds making it feel quite chilly.

    Another winter storm this weekend?

Another system may approach by Sunday, potentially bringing a mix of rain and snow, though the exact details remain uncertain at this time.

Stay tuned for updates as we continue to monitor the forecast.

3 days agoMilwaukee Bucks small forward Khris Middleton (ankle) is probable for Wednesday’s matchup against New Orleans. He has sat out a couple of games this month but is expected to play on Wednesday. However, Milwaukee also has a game scheduled for Thursday against Miami, and Middleton could take the night off then. Middleton has provided steady but unspectacular production in 2024-25, averaging 12.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 5.1 assists. Strangely, he is shooting an excellent 53 percent from the field this month but has struggled from downtown, sinking only 25 percent of his attempts.Taavi Pailk – RotoBaller

  • Wednesday Season 2 : New Cast Members, Episode Titles, and What’s Coming Next

If you thought 2024 was the year for Netflix hits, 2025 might just raise the bar even higher. With the much-anticipated return of Squid Game and the final season of Stranger Things, Netflix’s lineup for the coming year is already looking impressive. Among the most eagerly awaited shows is Wednesday Season 2, which recently wrapped filming in Ireland. Fans of the gothic teen series, led by Jenna Ortega as the iconic Wednesday Addams, can expect more dark humor, spooky adventures, and a fresh batch of intriguing characters.

The series, which became Netflix’s most-watched English-language show, has a massive fan base, and expectations are high for the new season. With Jenna Ortega returning as the sharp-witted, deadpan Wednesday, the show promises to build on the charm and eccentricity that made it a breakout hit. But there’s also a lot of fresh talent in the mix, making this season feel like it might take things to a new level.

New Cast Members to Keep an Eye On

While most of the main cast members are back for Season 2, there’s a noticeable absence: Percy Hynes White, who portrayed Xavier, has been replaced after allegations of sexual assault were made against him. The decision was made after a public statement from White, and Jenna Ortega later responded to the situation. With this change, fans are curious to see how the dynamics of the show will evolve.

But it’s not all bad news for fans of fresh faces. The new season introduces several exciting new cast members, each set to add their own unique flavor to the quirky world of Nevermore Academy. Some of these additions include:

    • Liv Spencer (Kaos, Knightfall) as Varicose
    • Neri Zaccardelli as Stassa
    • Andrew Macklin (Doctor Who) as Gregg Mulligan
    • Kerry Shale (Sandman) as Gabe Packard
    • Megan Elle Day as Jennifer Tessbaum in Episodes 3 and 4
    • Derek Miller as Dwayne
    • Clare Gavin, with a role still under wraps

Alongside these exciting newcomers, the season boasts some major stars who are bound to bring their flair to the show. Among them are Lady Gaga, Christopher Lloyd, Steve Buscemi, Haley Joel Osment, and Joanna Lumley, adding a star-studded touch to the mystery-filled world of Wednesday Addams. Of course, Christopher Lloyd’s return as Uncle Fester is particularly exciting, given his iconic role in The Addams Family films.

Episode Titles That Are Set to Make a Splash

Along with the fresh talent, new details about the upcoming season’s episodes have also been revealed. True to form, the episode titles continue the series’ tradition of playing with the theme of “woe”—a term that perfectly encapsulates the dark humor and eerie atmosphere of the show. Fans can expect the following episode titles for the first four chapters of Season 2:

    1. Here We Woe Again
    2. If These Woes Could Talk
    3. The Devil You Woe
    4. The Great Outwoes

It’s safe to say that Tim Burton, who directed several episodes in the first season, is once again bringing his signature gothic style to the series. Paco Cabezas, known for his work on Umbrella Academy, will also direct some of the upcoming episodes, ensuring that the second season keeps its quirky, atmospheric vibe.

    What’s Next for Wednesday Addams?

So, what can we expect from Wednesday Season 2? With a killer cast, intriguing new faces, and those trademark spooky twists, the new season is sure to keep fans at the edge of their seats. Whether the Addams family will be dealing with more supernatural mysteries, or if Wednesday will be caught in even darker intrigues at Nevermore Academy, one thing is certain: this season will be one for the books.

Although there’s no official release date yet, it’s clear that Netflix has big plans for Wednesday’s return, and the excitement is only going to grow as we inch closer to the release. Until then, you can start rewatching Season 1, catch up on any of the star-studded additions, and prepare for more spine-chilling fun in the Addams family’s world.

  • The 1 Mistake That Could Ruin Wednesday Season 2 Has Already Become A Trend For Netflix Shows

Netflix could make one big decision with Wednesday season 2 that would undoubtedly drop viewership, and unfortunately, the likelihood of the divisive choice is high since it’s a recent trend. When the first show released on Netflix in November 2022, the show skyrocketed in the charts, becoming Netflix’s global most popular show of all time (via Tudum). Since then, fans have waited for the next season. Sadly, Wednesday season 2 has taken painfully long to make because of Jenna Ortega’s busy filming schedule and the 2024 Hollywood labor strikes.

In December 2024, the show finally wrapped up filming, but Netflix hasn’t provided fans with a release date. Wednesday season 1 took eight months between filming’s conclusion and the show’s release, so season 2 might come out in July or August 2025 – but that’s just an estimate. While fans have held on over the last two years, Netflix’s recent release schedule trend could threaten to alienate viewers who’ve remained loyal.

Wednesday Season 2 Releasing In Two Parts Would Be Very Frustrating After Such A Long Wait

The Second Season Of Wednesday Should Come Out All At Once

While Wednesday season 1’s ending is a compelling enough story potentially to bring fans back for season 2 after a long period of time, asking fans to come back for a season split in two is too much. If the Netflix series wasn’t as good as it is, there’s very little chance the hype would have lasted this long. Almost any other show would be doomed at this point.

10 Ways Wednesday Season 2 Is Already Different From Season 1

Wednesday season 2 is set to premiere sometime in 2025, and already, the mystery drama’s new installment boasts some exciting additions and changes.

Even in the best case, viewers would have to wait a month for the second half of the episodes, but many other shows include a few months between the parts. It would feel like a slap in the face to fans to wait around three years for the first half of Wednesday season 2 just to wait another two or three more months for the second half, especially when the option exists to have all the episodes at once. The show would need an epic mid-season cliffhanger to get viewers to return, but it would unquestionably ruffle feathers even then.

Why So Many Netflix Original Shows Are Being Split Into Two Or More Parts

Many Factors Contribute To Netflix’s New Trend Of Splitting Seasons

Netflix splitting original shows into two or more parts could occur because of a variety of factors. Firstly, the streaming giant is still recovering from the content gap caused by COVID-19 restrictions and the Hollywood strikes. The splits in TV shows also sometimes allow for longer seasons, which is Cobra Kai season 6‘s approach. Viewers might not need an entire season at once for shows with longer episode runtimes, with half a season providing hours of content. The multipart releases are also a compromise between the binge seasons that come out at once and weekly episodes.

2024 Netflix Shows Split Into Multiple Parts

    Outer Banks season 4

    You season 4

    Bridgerton season 3

    Emily in Paris season 4

Cobra Kai season 6 (parts 1 and 2 in 2024 and part 3 in 2025)

There’s also a financial benefit to releasing the show in multiple parts. When Netflix releases shows in numerous parts, viewers must stay subscribed for more than one month in order to see the second part rather than cancel the membership. Ultimately, it doesn’t matter why they split up the shows if the streaming giant can’t get fans on board. Wednesday has passionate fans who are willing to wait almost three years for a second season, so Netflix shouldn’t take advantage of the leniency they’ve already received.

Netflix has become known for producing hit shows that keep viewers coming back for more. However, there is one mistake that has already become a trend for Netflix shows, and it could potentially ruin the highly anticipated second season of “Wednesday.”

The mistake in question is the dreaded sophomore slump. Many Netflix shows have fallen victim to this phenomenon, where the second season fails to live up to the hype and excitement of the first season. This can be due to a variety of factors, such as rushed production schedules, creative burnout, or simply trying to replicate the success of the first season without bringing anything new to the table.

For “Wednesday,” the stakes are especially high. The first season was a critical and commercial success, with fans eagerly awaiting the next installment of the dark and twisted series. However, if the creators and producers don’t learn from the mistakes of other Netflix shows and avoid the sophomore slump, “Wednesday” could suffer the same fate.

To prevent this from happening, the creators of “Wednesday” need to take their time to craft a compelling and original story for the second season. They should listen to feedback from fans, but also trust their instincts and not try to please everyone. By staying true to the unique tone and style of the show, “Wednesday” has the potential to avoid the one mistake that could ruin its second season and continue to captivate audiences for years to come.

  • Houston airport closure: Hobby and Bush Intercontinental Airports both reopen Wednesday following winter storm

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Houston’s airports reopened on Wednesday morning after being closed all day Tuesday thanks to a winter storm that left Houston covered in snow.

ABC13 was live from an empty Hobby Airport on Wednesday morning. The TSA security check at the normally bustling airport was scheduled to reopen at 9 a.m.

Still, ABC13 cameras saw travelers going through around 6:30 a.m. An airport employee said they were letting guests through early.

Fights were scheduled to begin taking off from both Bush and Hobby airports at 11 a.m.

SEE ALSO: Photos show historic snowfall across Houston area

Pooja Lodhia takes her role as a hands-on reporter very seriously. So when Houston got historic snowfall, it only made sense that she would join right in the fun!

The Houston Airport Systems director says they’ve been working to make sure the roads and runways are good to go and said they made the decision to open at 9 a.m. instead of, say, 5 a.m. to give time for the sun to come out and for road conditions to improve.

ABC13 spoke to a man on Tuesday who was waiting for the airports to reopen because he was trying to go visit his sick friend.

“I want to be in Baltimore for my friend. I told her I would be there. I made a promise. I’ve got to get there for her,” Donnie Ray said.

Houston Airport System Director Jim Szczesniak told ABC13 that operations were running as expected after restarting operations.

“We’ve got all the runways open at both airports,” he said. “The ground transportation is there. The TSA is here. The customs officers are here making sure we can process, so all the pieces of the puzzle we need to put together to operate the airports are here.”

The airport used deicing pellets and liquid to keep the runways and roads clear of ice and snow, and according to Szczesniak, everything went according to their preparations.

“We’re happy because the plan that we wanted, we executed it,” he said. “It did not trap people here on Monday. It was Tuesday. Fight the storm so we could open on Wednesday. We opened (Wednesday) morning, and operations are basically back to normal.”

If you have a flight on Wednesday, you should double-check with your airline. Even though the airports are back open, there are still about 500 flights between Bush and Hobby that have been canceled on Wednesday.

Houston airport closure: Hobby and Bush Intercontinental Airports both reopen Wednesday following winter storm

After being closed for several days due to the severe winter storm that swept through Texas, Hobby and Bush Intercontinental Airports in Houston have finally reopened on Wednesday.

The winter storm caused widespread power outages, water shortages, and dangerous road conditions throughout the state, leading to the closure of many airports, including those in Houston. However, as conditions improved and the airports were able to clear runways and resume operations, both Hobby and Bush Intercontinental Airports were given the green light to reopen.

Passengers are advised to check with their airlines for any potential delays or cancellations as the airports work to get back on schedule. Additionally, travelers should be prepared for potential delays or disruptions in their travel plans as airlines work to accommodate the backlog of flights caused by the closures.

Despite the challenges posed by the winter storm, airport staff and officials have been working tirelessly to ensure the safety and comfort of passengers as they resume operations. We thank them for their dedication and hard work in getting the airports back up and running.

We hope that travelers will be able to safely reach their destinations and that normal operations will soon be restored at Hobby and Bush Intercontinental Airports. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this challenging time.

  • Causeway bridge won’t reopen Wednesday due to ice, snow | Weather

The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway won’t be opened on Wednesday, and there’s a good chance it won’t be open to the general driving public on Thursday, either, the top bridge official says.

    Causeway heavy snow

Causeway General Manager Carlton Dufrechou said that although Wednesday’s sunshine is helping, the snow and ice on the spans might not be cleared for a while.

“We aren’t going to be able to open today,” Dufrechou said at 11:30 a.m.

    But Thursday?

“I think it would be amazing if we’re able to see any degree of traffic,” he added.

    Causeway snow

The bridge was closed early Tuesday as the region experienced a rare, day-long snowstorm. Then, overnight temperatures dropped into the teens and 20s across the region, turning that snow slush into ice.

Dufrechou said the worst stretch of the bridge is from the toll plaza on the north end and running six or so miles south. There, he said, the snow is 18 inches to two feet deep with ice under it.

“It’s really just like a pan of white stuff,” he said.

The bridge runs 24 miles across the lake between Mandeville and Metairie. Tolls are collected on the north end.

The Interstate 10 twin span bridges linking Slidell and New Orleans have also been closed, leaving on the U.S. 11 bridge as way to get across the lake.

Workers using front-end loaders are trying to clear the north end of the bridge and the entrance at the toll plaza. Dufrechou said the city of Mandeville and Boh Brothers Construction Co. are helping to clear the north end.

But clearing the snow alone won’t do the trick, he said. There’s still the thick ice, and temperatures will only get a few degrees above freezing today before plummeting into the teens again overnight.

“Anything that melts today might freeze again overnight,” Dufrechou said.

Due to inclement weather conditions, the Causeway bridge will remain closed on Wednesday. Ice and snow accumulation have made travel hazardous, leading officials to keep the bridge closed for the safety of commuters. Please stay tuned for updates on when the bridge will reopen. Stay safe and drive carefully in these winter conditions. #CausewayBridge #WinterWeather #StaySafe.
