NFL Week 17 Weather Conditions (Fantasy Football)

Here we are, championship weekend! If you made it, congratulations, and let’s get that trophy! Of course, the way Mother Nature works, this won’t be an easy weather weekend. There are a ton of impacts, that you’ll see down below, which will make your weekend roster decisions a challenge.

As this is the last weather article of the season, thank you for reading and the support throughout the year. I hope this article was of value to you and your team. See you all next season!

    Saturday Games

Los Angeles Chargers @ New England Patriots

MEDIUM impact. There will be some rain, sitting around 40% currently, with light winds. Temps will be sitting in the low 40s. I’m not expecting significant rain, so I don’t think you bench anyone you’d normally start. Just keep an eye on pregame reports and be ready to flex.

    Denver Broncos @ Cincinnati Bengals

LOW impact. Overall it’ll be a decent day in Cincinnati. There’s a small chance of rain (20%), winds will be light, and temperatures will be in the low 60s during the game. Start all your studs.

    Early Afternoon Games

Indianapolis Colts @ New York Giants

MEDIUM impact. Another game with rain showers in the forecast, this time we’ve got a 50% chance of rain. Additionally, there will be some increased winds, with sustained speeds in the high single digits and gusts up to the low 20s. There may be some impacts on the deep passing game and field goals. I don’t think many people are running with Graham Gano or Matt Gay during championship week (if you are, you are a brave manager my friend) but if you are you may want to explore other options.

New York Jets @ Buffalo Bills

HIGH impact. It’s going to be a wet one in Buffalo. Rain is at 100% right now. Also, winds will be sustained in the low teens. At least temperatures will be in the low 50s so it won’t be too miserable. What does this mean for the game? Conditions like this tend to favor the running game more, so your James Cooks and your Breece Halls are locked in. You’re never benching Josh Allen but I’d lower expectations for the Bills’ wide receivers. Same with the Jets’ passing options (as the resident Davante Adams manager, I hate this too).

Carolina Panthers @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers

MEDIUM impact. More rain? Sure. Why not. 60% chance of rain and some thunderstorms during game time. Winds are lighter, temps are in the upper 70s. I think it should be mostly “okay” but those rain showers, if they move over the stadium, will cause some issues. Just do a quick check before kickoff to make sure conditions are decent.

    Dallas Cowboys @ Philadelphia Eagles

MEDIUM impact. Apologies if I sound like a broken record here, but rain is expected during game time. Sitting at a 70% chance now, so we’ll see some breaks but there will more than likely be rain. Wind gusts are also going to be an issue, up to 25 mph. With the rain, I expect both teams to rely more on the run game. So downgrade the pass-catchers and upgrade your running backs.

    Tennessee Titans @ Jacksonville Jaguars

MEDIUM impact. You know it’s a bad weather weekend in December when Florida is feeling the impacts!  More rain expected, 80% chance of rain with winds in the teens gusting to the low 20s. Temps will be in the mid-70s.

    Late Afternoon Games

    Miami Dolphins @ Cleveland Browns

HIGH impact. Another soggy mess. 100% chance of rain with winds in the low teens. Like the rest of the games, expect some impacts with ball control and the passing game. I still think you start your studs, but if you’ve got a flex option that’s playing in better conditions it may be worth the switch.

    Sunday Night Game

    Atlanta Falcons @ Washington Commanders

MEDIUM impact. Let’s wrap up this miserable Sunday with another rainy game. 90% chance of rain with winds high single digits and gusts to the high teens. Just like the rest of the games, the passing game will likely take a hit and your kickers will have some additional impacts.

    Monday Night Game

Detroit Lions @ San Francisco 49ers

LOW impact. Finally, a nice game. Clear skies, light winds, and temps in the high 30s. Start your studs!

Weather is a dynamic thing and can change! Keep an eye on your local weather source leading up to kickoff to see if anything changes significantly.  Good luck!

As we head into the final week of the NFL regular season, it’s important for fantasy football owners to be aware of the weather conditions that could impact their players’ performances. Weather can play a significant role in the outcome of games, affecting passing and kicking accuracy, as well as overall scoring opportunities.

Here’s a look at some of the key weather conditions to keep an eye on for Week 17:

    1. Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets (MetLife Stadium): The forecast calls for cloudy skies with a chance of rain. Wind could also be a factor, so keep an eye on the game-time conditions before setting your lineups.

    2. Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions (Ford Field): Indoor stadium, so weather won’t be a factor in this matchup.

    3. Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos (Empower Field at Mile High): The forecast calls for cold temperatures and a chance of snow. This could impact passing and kicking accuracy, so be prepared for a potentially low-scoring game.

    4. Los Angeles Rams vs. San Francisco 49ers (SoFi Stadium): Indoor stadium, so weather won’t be a factor in this matchup.

    5. Seattle Seahawks vs. Arizona Cardinals (State Farm Stadium): Indoor stadium, so weather won’t be a factor in this matchup.

    6. Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Carolina Panthers (Bank of America Stadium): The forecast calls for cloudy skies with a chance of rain. Wind could also be a factor, so keep an eye on the game-time conditions before setting your lineups.

    7. Washington Football Team vs. Philadelphia Eagles (Lincoln Financial Field): The forecast calls for cold temperatures and a chance of snow. This could impact passing and kicking accuracy, so be prepared for a potentially low-scoring game.

As always, be sure to check for any updates on weather conditions closer to game time, as forecasts can change quickly. Good luck to all fantasy football owners in Week 17!

NFL Week 17 Fantasy Football Weather Report

DeVonta Smith - Fantasy Football Rankings, Draft Sleepers, NFL Injury News

If you’re reading this, you’re probably in the fantasy football championship in Week 17. Congratulations, happy holidays, and a very Happy New Year to you (hopefully, if you win). At this point, three games have already been played, but we still have 13 more to go. The purpose of this article is to help you make informed lineup decisions based on the weather forecast. Yes, in some cases, the weather can have a major impact on player production.

We will rely on the most accurate and up-to-date weather forecasts for each stadium from AccuWeather, a source that provides comprehensive weather maps. Factors such as temperature, precipitation, wind speed/direction, and visibility can play a crucial role in shaping game outcomes and statistics.

Our goal with this article is to assist you in making informed decisions for your fantasy teams and other betting activities, allowing you to capitalize on opportunities or navigate challenges posed by weather dynamics. Here is your comprehensive fantasy football weather report for Week 17 of the 2024 season.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2024:

    Dome Games (No Weather Impact)

Some games in Week 17 will benefit from being played in domed stadiums, where the weather won’t affect the outcome. These indoor venues provide a consistent environment.

    • Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams
    • Las Vegas Raiders at New Orleans Saints
    • Green Bay Packers at Minnesota Vikings

    Minimal Weather Impact

These outdoor games in Week 17 don’t appear to have very many weather concerns.

Los Angeles Chargers at New England Patriots (Saturday, 12/28 at 1:00 p.m. ET)

There’s a 40% chance of precipitation at Gillette Stadium during the Chargers and Patriots game. However, winds will be light (5-10 miles per hour (mph)) and temperatures will be above freezing. All in all, not a terrible forecast for December 28 in the Northeast.

That being said, there’s probably only one “must-start” guy in this game and that’s Chargers rookie wideout Ladd McConkey.

Denver Broncos at Cincinnati Bengals (Saturday, 12/28 at 4:30 p.m. ET)

It looks like rain is coming in Cincinnati, but it might hold off until after the Broncos and Bengals matchup at 4:30 p.m. ET. Currently, rain chances are around 20% at kickoff and go up to 50% closer to midnight. Winds aren’t expected to be much of an issue in this game, either, clocking in at 6 mph sustained with gusts up to 15 mph.

With a big over/under of 49.5, this game looks like it could turn into a good old-fashioned shootout. Bo Nix is firmly in the top-10 QB conversation for Championship Week 17.

New York Jets at Buffalo Bills (Sunday, 12/29 at 1:00 p.m. ET)

Rain is in the forecast in Buffalo on Sunday, but (for now) it looks like it might be in the morning ahead of kickoff. At least it’s not going to be frigid. High temperatures are expected to hit 52 degrees and winds aren’t expected to be much of a factor. They’re forecast to be sustained around 10 mph with gusts around 20 mph. Buffalo continues to put up points in droves and it probably won’t be any different Sunday against the Jets. It has an implied team total of 27.5 in this one.

Carolina Panthers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Sunday, 12/29 at 1:00 p.m. ET)

Conditions look favorable for the Panthers vs. Buccaneers game on Sunday in Tampa, Fla. There’s a 50% chance of rain for the day, but that number reduces to just 25% during the game. Winds will be mild at just 9 mph sustained and temperatures will be in the mid-70s.

This game features the third-highest over/under (48.5) on the Week 17 slate. Fire up all of the offensive weapons in this one. Look for Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans to bounce back and have a field day in this one.

Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars (Sunday, 12/29 at 1:00 p.m. ET)

A very similar forecast is in store in Jacksonville, Fla., as it is in Tampa on Sunday. There’s a chance of rain (small) with sustained winds around 10 mph with gusts up to 20 mph. It’ll be warm and overall pretty good weather conditions as two 3-12 teams face off in the race to the bottom (of the standings).

Even though both teams are probably hoping to lose, some guys could make an impact on your fantasy football team this weekend, including Brian Thomas Jr., Brenton Strange, Tony Pollard, Tyjae Spears, Calvin Ridley, and Chig Okonkwo.

Atlanta Falcons at Washington Commanders (Sunday, 12/29 at 8:20 p.m. ET)

I’m keeping this game between the Falcons and Commanders in the “Minimal Weather Impact” section because it’s a night game. The rain and wind in the Northeast is expected to wrap up sometime in the late afternoon or early evening, so conditions could be clearing for this one.

As a result, there shouldn’t be too much of an impact on the game. Keep an eye on the forecast, though, as we get closer to game time.

Detroit Lions at San Francisco 49ers (Monday, 12/30 at 8:15 p.m. ET)

It’s going to be a picture-perfect Monday night in Santa Clara, Calif., when the 49ers play host to the Detroit Lions. This game features the highest over/under (50.5) on the slate with the Lions currently listed as 3.5-point favorites. This game has a shootout written all over it. Start them all! Jahmyr Gibbs, Jared Goff, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Jauan Jennings, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel Sr., Isaac Guerendo (hopefully), and Brock Purdy.

    Severe Weather Impact

Let’s focus on matchups where weather conditions could substantially influence the game.

Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles (Sunday, 12/29 at 1:00 p.m. ET)

It looks like it’s going to be a soaker in The City of Brotherly Love on Sunday when the Eagles play host to the Dallas Cowboys. Temperatures will be in the low-to-mid 50s, but the forecast calls for over one inch of rain throughout the entire day.

Additionally, it appears the rain will be heaviest between noon and 4 p.m. Not only will it be rainy, but winds are forecast to be sustained around 14 mph with gusts reaching 30-32 mph.

The deep passing games and the kicking games will be affected in this one. The Eagles could also be without Jalen Hurts, so they’ll most likely be relying on Kenny Pickett. Neither Pickett nor Cooper Rush has the strongest of arms, so guys like A.J. Brown will need to rely on their yards-after-catch (YAC) ability in this one to sustain any meaningful production.

This is setting up to be a huge Saquon Barkley game.

Indianapolis Colts at New York Giants (Sunday, 12/29 at 1:00 p.m. ET)

It’ll be a similar forecast in East Rutherford, N.J., to Philadelphia on Sunday. Rain will be consistent throughout the game with winds sustained between 10 and 12 mph. Wind gusts are forecast to reach 30 mph in this one. It’s not “quite” as bad as it’ll be in Philadelphia, but still enough to have impacts on the passing and kicking games.

Just like in Philly, this could be a big game on the ground for the 7.5-point road favorite Colts. Expect Jonathan Taylor to follow up his massive Week 16 performance with another fine performance in Championship Week 17.

Miami Dolphins at Cleveland Browns (Sunday, 12/29 at 4:05 p.m. ET)

It’ll be a rainy day in Cleveland when the Browns play host to the Miami Dolphins. However, despite the rain, winds don’t appear to be too much of a factor. They’re forecast at just 8 mph with 18-20 mph gusts.

It won’t be a washout by any means, but the ball could be slick, which could impact the passing game a bit. However, the Dolphins with Tua Tagovailoa are very reliant on the short and underneath stuff, so you shouldn’t necessarily fade Jonnu Smith and Tyreek Hill in this one.

On the other side of the ball, don’t expect much from Dorian Thompson-Robinson and his pass-catchers on Sunday. It’s gearing up to be another heavy workload for Jerome Ford.

As we head into the final week of the NFL regular season, fantasy football players need to pay close attention to the weather forecasts for each game. Weather can have a significant impact on player performance, so it’s important to know what to expect before setting your lineup. Here is the Week 17 Fantasy Football Weather Report:

    – Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets: The forecast for this game calls for cold temperatures and possible snow showers. This could impact the passing game, so consider starting running backs over wide receivers in this matchup.

    – Green Bay Packers vs. Detroit Lions: It looks like it will be a cold and windy day in Green Bay, which could affect the passing game. Keep an eye on the weather leading up to kickoff and adjust your lineup accordingly.

    – Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Atlanta Falcons: The weather in Atlanta is expected to be mild with no significant precipitation. This should be a good game for fantasy players, with ideal conditions for passing and scoring.

    – New England Patriots vs. Miami Dolphins: There is a chance of rain in Miami for this game, which could make for slippery conditions on the field. Consider starting running backs and tight ends over wide receivers in this matchup.

    – Kansas City Chiefs vs. Denver Broncos: It will be cold and possibly snowy in Denver, which could impact the passing game. Make sure to check the weather updates leading up to kickoff and adjust your lineup accordingly.

Overall, it looks like weather could play a factor in several Week 17 matchups, so be sure to keep an eye on the forecasts and make any necessary adjustments to your fantasy lineup. Good luck to all fantasy football players in the final week of the regular season!

Raheem Blackshear: Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups – Week 17 (2024)

BALLER MOVE: Add if you own Chuba Hubbard

    ROSTERED IN: 0% of Leagues

ANALYSIS: With Chuba Hubbard dealing with a knee injury and officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers, Raheem Blackshear is a potential add in some leagues heading into Week 17. However, fantasy managers should only add him if they currently roster Hubbard.

If Hubbard were to miss this week’s game, Blackshear would be in line for a bigger workload. With Jonathon Brooks (knee) out for the season and Miles Sanders (ankle) still on injured reserve, the 26-year-old running back would see the majority of carries out of the backfield for the Panthers on Sunday. In that case, he would be a potential flex play in 12-plus team leagues.

But Blackshear isn’t really worth an add in most leagues right now. It sounds like Hubbard will be good enough to play in Week 17 after practicing in a limited fashion on Thursday and Friday.

Are you in need of a last-minute addition to your fantasy football team for the final week of the season? Look no further than Raheem Blackshear. The versatile running back has been a key contributor for the New York Jets in recent weeks, and he could be a difference-maker for your team as well.

Blackshear has shown the ability to contribute both on the ground and through the air, making him a valuable asset in PPR leagues. With the Jets facing a favorable matchup in Week 17 against a struggling defense, Blackshear could be in line for a big game.

If you’re in need of a running back or flex option for the final week of the season, don’t hesitate to pick up Raheem Blackshear off the waiver wire. He has the potential to put up big numbers and help lead your team to victory in the fantasy football championship.

  • Fantasy Football Week 17 Waiver Wire: Bryce Young looks to have another stellar outing vs. Bucs

Fantasy Football Week 17 Waiver Wire: Bryce Young looks to have another stellar outing vs. Bucs

If you’re reading this, that likely means you made it to the championship game, so congratulations. Now, let’s finish the job.

Week 17 is a little wacky, with two Wednesday games, a Thursday game, and three Saturday games. You’ll have to make sure your lineup is right, with a lot of moving parts when it comes to injuries.

For example, George Pickens (hamstring) could return for Wednesday’s game against Kansas City, but Justice Hill (concussion) could be out at Houston. Unfortunately, we know Tank Dell (knee) is out for the rest of the season.

Kenneth Walker III (ankle) could miss Thursday’s game at Chicago, which is obviously a huge boost for Zach Charbonnet. And, for Saturday, we’ll be waiting for updates on James Conner (knee) at the Rams, Jaleel McLaughlin (quadriceps) at Cincinnati, and potentially if J.K. Dobbins (knee) can return from injured reserve at New England.

Other injuries to monitor for Sunday and Monday include the quarterback situation in Philadelphia with Jalen Hurts (concussion) and Kenny Pickett (ribs) and the quarterback situation in Cleveland with Jameis Winston (shoulder) and Dorian Thompson-Robinson (calf). Obviously, we’d love to see Hurts against Dallas and Winston against Miami.

We also have to watch what’s happening with Alvin Kamara (groin) vs. Las Vegas and, Isaac Guerendo (hamstring) vs. Detroit at running back, Drake London (hamstring) at Washington, and Jaylen Waddle (knee) at Cleveland at receiver, and David Njoku (knee) vs. Miami and Cade Otton (knee) vs. Carolina at tight end.

Hopefully, you advanced with a healthy roster, but you might need to make some tweaks for the championship game in Week 17. And that’s why you’re here.

Good luck with your waiver moves. And good luck with your lineups in Week 17.

Editor’s note: For this waiver wire column, we are mainly looking at players rostered in less than 65 percent of CBS Sports leagues.

    Week 17 Waivers

Injuries: Josh Allen (elbow), Jalen Hurts (concussion), Kenny Pickett (ribs), Jameis Winston (shoulder), Dorian Thompson-Robinson (calf), Derek Carr (hand) and Drew Lock (shoulder).

Check to see if available in shallow leagues: Caleb Williams (72 percent rostered), Anthony Richardson (72 percent) and Geno Smith (71 percent). Williams has scored at least 18.1 Fantasy points in three of his past five games, including three outings with at least 26.8 points. I like him as a low-end starter in Week 17 against Seattle. … Richardson scored 22.2 Fantasy points in Week 16 against Tennessee and has now run for at least 46 yards in four games in a row, including three rushing touchdowns over that span. He’s worth using as a low-end starter in Week 17 at the Giants. … Smith scored 27.4 Fantasy points in Week 16 against Minnesota, which was his first game with more than 20 points since Week 9. He should have the chance for another quality outing in Week 17 at Chicago, which is a plus matchup.

    Add in this order:

    Week 17 Waiver Priority List

    WAIVER WIRE

    Running Backs

Injuries: James Conner (knee), Trey Benson (ankle), Alvin Kamara (groin), Kenneth Walker III (ankle), J.K. Dobbins (knee), Isaac Guerendo (hamstring), David Montgomery (knee), Justice Hill (concussion) and Jaleel McLaughlin (quadriceps).

Check to see if available in shallow leagues: Jaylen Warren (77 percent rostered), Javonte Williams (76 percent), Tank Bigsby (74 percent), Alexander Mattison (72 percent), J.K. Dobbins (71 percent), and Kendre Miller (69 percent). Warren scored 14.2 PPR points in Week 16 at Baltimore, and he has scored at least 9.2 PPR points in six of his past seven games. It will be hard for the Steelers to run on the Chiefs in Week 17, so Warren could help in the passing game. And he has at least four catches in three of his past six games. … Williams scored 12.3 PPR points in Week 16 at the Chargers with McLaughlin out, and Williams had seven catches for 29 yards on 11 targets. He could be a flex option in Week 17 at the Bengals, especially if McLaughlin is out again. … Bigsby scored a touchdown in Week 16 at Las Vegas but also lost a fumble and finished with 10.1 PPR points. He’s now scored a touchdown in two of his past three games, including Week 14 at Tennessee, when he had 18 carries for 55 yards and one catch for 7 yards on one target. He faces the Titans again in Week 17 and is worth using as a flex. … Mattison had 16 total touches (four catches on seven targets) in the first game without Sincere McCormick (ankle) in Week 16 against Jacksonville and now faces the Saints in Week 17. Mattison will continue to split carries with Ameer Abdullah, but Mattison is worth using as a flex at New Orleans. … Dobbins could return from injured reserve in Week 17 at New England, and if that happens, he is worth starting as a No. 2 running back in all leagues. He has missed the past four games with a knee injury. … Miller was bad in Week 16 at Green Bay with eight carries for 15 yards and two catches for 16 yards on two targets, but all of the Saints were terrible on Monday night. They have a better matchup in Week 17 against Las Vegas, and Miller can be a flex if Kamara remains out.

    Add in this order:

    Week 17 Waiver Priority List

    WAIVER WIRE

    Wide Receivers

Injuries: Drake London (hamstring), Zay Flowers (shoulder), George Pickens (hamstring), Jaylen Waddle (knee), Christian Watson (knee), Tank Dell (knee), Chris Olave (concussion), Cedric Tillman (concussion), Xavier Legette (hip), Jalen Tolbert (finger) and Alec Pierce (concussion).

Check to see if available in shallow leagues: Adam Thielen (79 percent rostered), Josh Downs (78 percent), Romeo Doubs (66 percent and Rome Odunze (65 percent). Thielen has scored at least 15.3 PPR points in three of his past four games, including 23.9 PPR points in Week 13 against Tampa Bay. He plays the Buccaneers again in Week 17, and Thielen should be considered a borderline starter in all leagues. … Downs had three catches for 61 yards and a touchdown on four targets in Week 16 against Tennessee, and he’s now scored at least 12 PPR points in five of his past seven games. He has a favorable matchup in Week 17 at the Giants, and Downs should be considered a No. 3 Fantasy receiver in all leagues. … Doubs had a quiet game Monday night against New Orleans with two catches for 20 yards on three targets, but he wasn’t needed in a blowout win. With Watson hurt and a high-scoring game expected in Week 17 at Minnesota, Doubs can be used as a No. 3 receiver in all leagues. … Every week, it seems like Odunze is on the verge of a big game, and he had four catches for 77 yards on seven targets in Week 16 against Detroit. He has at least six targets in eight of his past nine games, and he could be a No. 3 Fantasy receiver in deeper leagues in Week 17 against Seattle.

    Add in this order:

    Week 17 Waiver Priority List

Injuries: David Njoku (knee), Cade Otton (knee), and Will Dissly (shoulder).

Check to see if available in shallow leagues: Zach Ertz (77 percent rostered) and Hunter Henry (72 percent). Ertz had a down game in Week 16 against Philadelphia with one catch for 12 yards on two targets, but prior to suffering a concussion in Week 15 at New Orleans, he scored at least 12.5 PPR points in three games in a row. I still like Ertz as a low-end starter in all leagues in Week 16 against Atlanta. … Henry had four catches for 39 yards and a touchdown on nine targets in Week 16 at Buffalo, and he has now scored at least 9.4 PPR points in eight of his past 10 games, including six outings with at least 12.3 PPR points. He doesn’t have an easy matchup in Week 17 against the Chargers, but it’s a revenge game for Henry, who is a No. 1 Fantasy tight end in all leagues.

As we head into Week 17 of the fantasy football season, one player who should be on your radar for the waiver wire is Bryce Young. The talented quarterback has been on fire recently and is coming off a stellar performance against the Bucs.

Young has been a consistent fantasy producer all season, posting impressive numbers week in and week out. In his last game against the Bucs, he threw for over 300 yards and three touchdowns, cementing his status as a top option at the quarterback position.

With another favorable matchup on the horizon, Young looks poised to have another big outing in Week 17. The Bucs have struggled against the pass this season, giving up the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks.

If you’re in need of a quarterback for the final week of the fantasy season, Bryce Young is a must-add off the waiver wire. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to ride his hot streak and potentially lead your team to victory in the championship game.

  • PFT’s Week 17 2024 NFL weekend preview, headlined by Packers-Vikings

PFT’s Week 17 2024 NFL weekend preview, headlined by Packers-Vikings

It’s the penultimate weekend of the 2024 season, and five more teams can punch their playoff tickets. Others can cement their spots on the playoff tree.

Either way, we’re two weeks away from the start of the postseason, which will consist of games far more compelling than the college football playoffs. (It’s a low bar.)

Here’s a look at the 13 remaining Week 17 games.

9-6 Chargers (-4.5) at 3-12 Patriots, Saturday 1:00 p.m. ET, NFL Network (Chris Rose and Ross Tucker)

The Chargers are in with a win or losses from the Colts and Dolphins.

The Patriots have lost five in a row. They’re hoping to avoid their second six-game losing streak of the season.

Currently, L.A. is on track to face the Ravens in the wild-card round of the playoffs. Which would give us a rematch of Harbaugh vs. Harbaugh, in Jim’s first season after a nine-year break from the NFL.

9-6 Broncos at 7-8 Bengals (-3.5), Saturday 4:30 p.m. ET, NFL Network (Kevin Harlan and Trent Green)

The Broncos are in with a win, and the Bengals are out with a loss.

The Bengals, to punch a postseason ticket, need to win out (they visit Pittsburgh in Week 18) and have the Broncos lose two and the Colts and Dolphins lose one game each.

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow is the first player in NFL history to have seven straight games with 250 or more passing yards and three or more touchdown passes.

Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase has a chance to be the fifth receiver to lead the league in catches, yards, and receiving touchdowns since the merger. The others? Jerry Rice, Sterling Sharpe, Steve Smith Sr., Cooper Kupp.

7-8 Cardinals at 9-6 Rams (-7), Saturday 8:00 p.m. ET, NFL Network (Rich Eisen and Kurt Warner)

The Cardinals were eliminated in Week 16, fueled by losing four of five games. The Rams can clinch the division with a victory and at least three wins or a tie from six other teams.

The Cardinals, who won the first game between these teams in a Week 2 41-10 blowout, haven’t swept the Rams since they became the L.A. Rams again.

The Rams are 8-2 since entering the bye at 1-4, and they’ve won four in a row.

4-11 Jets at 12-3 Bills (-8.5), Sunday 1:00 p.m. ET, CBS (Jim Nantz and Tony Romo)

The Bills won narrowly in Week 6, the first game for Jets interim coach Jeff Ulbrich. This time around, the Bills are trying to clinch the No. 2 seed, while the Jets are once again playing out the string; they haven’t been to the playoffs since 2010.

With a victory, the Bills will match a franchise record with 13 regular-season victories.

Bills running back James Cook has seven touchdowns in the last five games. He’s tied for the NFL lead with 14 rushing touchdowns. He has 16 total touchdowns.

Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who is the betting favorite for MVP, admitted this week that he has been playing with a broken left hand for most of the season.

3-12 Titans at 3-12 Jaguars (-1), Sunday 1:00 p.m. ET, CBS (Spero Dedes and Adam Archuleta)

The Titans have lost four in a row, and the Jaguars have lost seven of eight.

Jacksonville is 2-2 in the AFC South, and 1-9 against the rest of the league.

3-12 Raiders (-1.5) at 5-10 Saints, Sunday 1:00 p.m. ET, Fox (Adam Amin and Mark Sanchez)

The Saints became the first team in 2024 to be shut out, in a 34-0 Lambeau Field blowout on Monday night.

Quarterback Derek Carr, thanks to a lingering hand injury, won’t get a chance to face the team that cut him only months after signing him to a $40 million-per-year extension.

7-8 Colts (-7.5) at 2-13 Giants, Sunday 1:00 p.m. ET, Fox (Kenny Albert and Jonathan Vilma)

The only drama in this one is whether the plane will be back, again.

Indy needs a win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.

The Giants will clinch the top draft pick with two losses to end the season. They’ve already tied a single-season franchise record with 13 losses, and they’ve set a team record with 10 straight losses.

7-8 Cowboys at 12-3 Eagles (-8.5), Sunday 1:00 p.m. ET, Fox (Joe Davis and Greg Olsen)

The Eagles are looking to sweep Dallas for the first time since 2011.

Jalen Hurts is out for Philly. Kenny Pickett will get the start for Philly.

Dallas has played hard despite being eliminated. Will that be enough to get another season or two for Mike McCarthy?

4-11 Panthers at 8-7 Buccaneers (-7.5), Sunday 1:00 p.m. ET, CBS (Ian Eagle and Charles Davis)

The Bucs need to pick up a game on the Falcons in the final two weeks to win the division. Tampa Bay is out with a loss and an Atlanta win.

Carolina is 3-4 in their last seven games; they’ve lost three by one score — to the Chiefs, Bucs, and Eagles.

Tampa Bay receiver Mike Evans needs 182 receiving yards to hit 11 straight 1,000 yard seasons. That would tie Jerry Rice for the most consecutive 1,000-yard seasons in NFL history.

7-8 Dolphins (-6.5) at 3-12 Browns, Sunday 4:05 p.m. ET, CBS (Andrew Catalon, Tiki Barber, and Jason McCourty)

Miami can make the playoffs by winning the final two games and having the Broncos or Chargers lose their final two.

The Dolphins have lost 11 in a row with the temperature at kickoff under 40 degrees. The streak dates back to 2016.

The Browns have lost four in a row since their epic snow-globe win over the Steelers on a Thursday night in Cleveland.

11-4 Packers (-1) at 13-2 Vikings, Sunday 4:25 p.m. ET, Fox (Kevin Burkhardt and Tom Brady)

By rule, game couldn’t be moved to prime time because the first match was played on CBS. At least one of the annual games between NFC division rivals must be played on Fox, where it was flexed to 4:25 p.m. ET.

The last time around, Minnesota led 28-0 before holding on to win, 31-29.

The Vikings secure the No. 1 seed (and the division title) if they win out. If the Vikings lose to the Packers, the Lions can clinch the top seed with a win on Monday night.

Minnesota quarterback has 16 touchdowns and one interception over the past six weeks. Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love and eight touchdowns and no interceptions in the last five games.

Receiver Justin Jefferson has 349 receiving yards and five touchdown catches in the last three games.

A win by the Vikings will give them their first nine-game winning streak since starting the 1975 season at 10-0.

8-7 Falcons at 10-5 Commanders (-4), Sunday 8:20 p.m. ET, NBC/Peacock (Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth)

For the first time ever, a pair of rookie first-round quarterbacks will meet in prime time.

The Commanders clinch with a win or a Buccaneers loss. Washington can still win the NFC East if they win out, and if the Eagles lose out.

A victory would give Washington its most wins in a single season since 1991.

    13-2 Lions (-3.5) at 6-9 49ers, Monday 8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN/ABC (Joe Buck and Troy Aikman)

If Minnesota loses, a Detroit win clinches the top seed. If Minnesota wins, the game becomes irrelevant to the Lions. They still plan to try to win the game — despite the short week on the back end before the Week 18 showdown with the Vikings.

The 49ers have lost five of six and are eliminated from playoff contention.

The game is a rematch of the NFC Championship; the Lions led by 17 at the half before the 49ers stormed back.

As we enter the final week of the 2024 NFL regular season, all eyes are on the highly anticipated matchup between the Green Bay Packers and Minnesota Vikings. In what promises to be a thrilling showdown with playoff implications, both teams are looking to secure their spot in the postseason.

The Packers, led by superstar quarterback Aaron Rodgers, have had a strong season so far and currently sit atop the NFC North division. With an explosive offense and a solid defense, Green Bay will be looking to secure a win against their division rival to solidify their playoff position.

On the other side of the field, the Vikings are fighting for their playoff lives. Led by quarterback Kirk Cousins and star running back Dalvin Cook, Minnesota has had a rollercoaster season but still has a chance to sneak into the postseason with a win against the Packers. The Vikings will need to bring their A-game and pull out all the stops to come out on top in this crucial matchup.

In addition to the Packers-Vikings showdown, there are several other key matchups to keep an eye on in Week 17. The Kansas City Chiefs will be facing off against the Denver Broncos in a game that could determine the top seed in the AFC, while the Los Angeles Rams will be looking to secure a playoff spot with a win against the San Francisco 49ers.

Overall, Week 17 is shaping up to be a thrilling weekend of NFL action with playoff spots on the line and division rivalries coming to a head. Stay tuned for all the excitement and drama as we head into the postseason!

  • Colts QB Anthony Richardson listed as non-participant in first practice report of Week 17

Colts QB Anthony Richardson listed as non-participant in first practice report of Week 17

Quarterback Anthony Richardson was listed as a non-participant with back and foot injuries in the Colts’ first practice report of Week 17, which was released Wednesday.

Richardson started and finished the Colts’ 38-30 Week 16 win over the Tennessee Titans, completing seven of 11 passes for 131 yards with a touchdown and rushing nine times for a career-high 70 yards with a touchdown.

The Colts adjusted their practice schedule this week due to Christmas falling on a Wednesday. Players were given Christmas off, with their usual off day of Tuesday becoming the Colts’ first practice day of the week (the Colts held a walkthrough on Tuesday, but per NFL rules did not have to release an injury report until Wednesday). Richardson’s “did not practice” status was an estimation of if there were a practice.

The Colts return to their usual in-week practice schedule Thursday and Friday, and will release practice reports on both days.

    Wednesday’s full practice report:

The Indianapolis Colts have hit a bump in the road as quarterback Anthony Richardson was listed as a non-participant in the team’s first practice report of Week 17. Richardson, who has been dealing with a nagging injury, was unable to take the field with his teammates as they prepare for their upcoming game.

This news comes as a blow to the Colts, who are currently fighting for a playoff spot in a tight AFC race. Richardson has been a key player for the team this season, and his absence could have a significant impact on their chances of securing a postseason berth.

It remains to be seen whether Richardson will be able to suit up for the Colts’ next game, but his status will surely be closely monitored in the days leading up to kickoff. In the meantime, the team will need to rally together and find a way to overcome this setback as they look to keep their playoff hopes alive.

  • NFL injury tracker Week 17: Jalen Hurts out vs. Cowboys, Josh Allen not affected by broken hand, Christian Watson questionable

NFL injury tracker Week 17: Jalen Hurts out vs. Cowboys, Josh Allen not affected by broken hand, Christian Watson questionable

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been ruled for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys with a concussion.

Hurts has been in concussion protocol since his head hit the turf during Sunday’s loss to the Washington Commanders. Head coach Nick Sirianni said on Friday that it was “going to be tough for him to make it” after the quarterback did not practice this week.

Backup Kenny Pickett, who came in for Hurts for the rest of the Commanders game, will start in Hurts’ place.

Sunday’s game is an important one for the 12-3 Eagles as they could clinch the NFC East with a win or a tie. Pickett’s teammates are confident he can help them deliver.

“You just never know — that’s the nature of the game,” said running back Saquon Barkley. “When your opportunity comes, you have to be ready for it. If that is this week, he has a great opportunity and 10 guys around him who believe in him and know he can help win this football game.”

The last time a quarterback other than Hurts started for the Eagles? Week 16 of the 2022 NFL season when Hurts was ruled out with a shoulder injury and Gardner Minshew took his place against the Cowboys.

The Buffalo Bills quarterback confirmed Thursday that he’s been dealing with an injury on his non-throwing hand all season. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported this week that Allen suffered a fractured left hand in the fourth quarter of the Bills’ Week 1 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Allen broke the bone after diving into the end zone for a six-yard touchdown run.

“Yeah. Yeah, it’s the left one, so it doesn’t really matter all that much,” Allen said during Thursday’s media availability before quickly moving on to other questions.

While he’s been dealing with an injury to his left hand, Allen told CBS Sports after last week’s win over the New England Patriots that he had “no feeling” in his right hand after getting hit in his right elbow by a helmet.

“Got a helmet to the funny bone,” Allen told Evan Washburn. “I went to throw the next one, and I had no feeling in the hand. Came out a little wobbly.”

Allen has been a full participant at practice this week.

Through 16 weeks, Allen is a strong contender for NFL MVP and has thrown for 3,549 yards, 26 touchdowns and six interceptions. On the ground, he has picked up 514 yards with 11 rushing touchdowns.

After suffering a bone bruise during Monday night’s win over the New Orleans Saints, Green Bay Packers wide receiver Christian Watson has yet to practice this week.

After a Saints player fell on him, there was concern for Watson’s knee, but Packers head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed earlier this week that there was no structural damage and it was only a bone bruise.

On Thursday, LaFleur told reporters that even if Watson doesn’t practice this week, that doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t play Sunday against the Vikings.

“If he’s feeling up to it on Sunday, then I’m going to let him go. If he’s not, then we won’t let him go,” LaFleur said.

Watson is currently listed as questionable.

The final week of the NFL regular season is upon us, and with playoff implications on the line, teams are closely monitoring the injury status of their key players. Here is the latest injury tracker for Week 17:

    – Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts has been ruled out for the crucial matchup against the Dallas Cowboys due to an ankle injury. The Eagles will turn to backup Gardner Minshew to lead the offense in Hurts’ absence.

    – Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen suffered a broken hand in Week 16, but the injury is not expected to affect his availability for the upcoming game against the New York Jets. Allen has been practicing and is confident that he will be able to play through the pain.

    – San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Christian Watson is listed as questionable for the game against the Los Angeles Rams. Watson is dealing with a knee injury and his status for the game will be a game-time decision. The 49ers will be hoping to have Watson available as they look to secure a playoff spot.

Stay tuned for more updates on NFL injuries as teams prepare for the final week of the regular season and the push for the playoffs.

  • Jalen Hurts injury update: Eagles QB out for Week 17 vs. Cowboys due to concussion; Kenny Pickett to start

Jalen Hurts injury update: Eagles QB out for Week 17 vs. Cowboys due to concussion; Kenny Pickett to start

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is officially out against the Dallas Cowboys for Sunday’s Week 17 game. Hurts remains in concussion protocol, meaning Kenny Pickett will be the starter.

Eagles fans had their holiday season somewhat spoiled when Hurts exited Philadelphia’s Week 16 showdown against the Commanders early after suffering a head injury. With Hurts out, the Commanders rallied to pull off an upset that hindered Philadelphia’s chances at obtaining the NFC’s top playoff seed.

Hurts received a “did not practice” designation during Wednesday’s projected injury report (the Eagles did not practice), and again on Thursday. On Friday, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni gave an update, saying, “It’s going to be tough for him to make it.”

This is similar to what he said on Thursday, when he noted that Hurts is still in the concussion protocol ahead of Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys.

NFL Media reported later Thursday that these revelations suggest Hurts remains in the early stages of the NFL’s five-step protocol for returning from a concussion.

Backups Pickett and Tanner McKee were seen warming up alongside Ian Book, who was recently signed to the Eagles’ practice squad, during practice this week. Pickett, who played in the majority of this past Sunday’s game, was listed as limited during Wednesday’s projected practice with a rib injury, and a full participant Thursday. He said he doesn’t expect to have any limitations on Sunday.

“Something I’ll have to deal with,” Pickett said while alluding to his injury.

Hurts suffered the injury during a 13-yard run on the Eagles’ second series against the Commanders. He left the game after getting tackled by Commanders veteran linebacker Bobby Wagner. Ahead 7-0 at that point, Pickett entered the game and immediately completed a 10-yard pass to A.J. Brown. The duo capped off the drive with a 4-yard touchdown, Pickett’s first touchdown since being traded from Pittsburgh to Philadelphia this past offseason.

Pickett led the Eagles on five more scoring drives, but Philadelphia came up short after Commanders rookie Jayden Daniels led Washington on a successful two-minute drill that was capped off by his game-winning touchdown pass to Jamison Crowder with six seconds left.

The loss prevented the Eagles from clinching their third division title in four years. Philadelphia can, however, take the NFC East division title again if they defeat the rival Cowboys on Sunday (they’ll also clinch the NFC East if the Commanders lose to the Falcons). The Eagles may be counting on Pickett in that game if Hurts remains in the protocol.

While he’s only in his third season, Pickett played in a similar circumstance during his rookie season in Pittsburgh. At 3-7 through 10 games, the Steelers had virtually no margin for error as far as their playoff hopes were concerned. While Pittsburgh ultimately did not make the playoffs that year, they got close after Pickett helped lead them to a 6-1 record during their final seven games. That stretch included three game-winning drives led by Pickett, the first quarterback taken in the 2022 NFL Draft

“I thought Kenny responded really well as far as just hopping in there,” Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore said of Pickett’s performance against the Commanders. “I thought the way he handled the first drive, he hopped in there, it was a third-and-7, and converted. Resulted in a touchdown that drive.

“I thought he certainly did a lot of good things in the game. Ultimately we all collectively didn’t do enough to finish that game. I think it’s an awesome opportunity for us to all learn and grow from, but I thought Kenny battled the whole entire way.”

The Philadelphia Eagles will be without starting quarterback Jalen Hurts for their crucial Week 17 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Hurts suffered a concussion during last week’s game against the Washington Football Team and has been ruled out for this week’s game.

In his absence, rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett will get the start for the Eagles. Pickett, who was selected in the first round of this year’s draft, has seen limited playing time this season but will now have the opportunity to showcase his skills in a must-win game for Philadelphia.

The Eagles will need to win their final game of the season in order to secure a playoff spot, making this matchup against the Cowboys even more crucial. With Hurts sidelined, all eyes will be on Pickett as he looks to lead the Eagles to victory and keep their postseason hopes alive. Stay tuned for more updates on Hurts’ status and Pickett’s performance in this pivotal game.

Rams keys to victory: Kyren Williams should be focal point in Week 17

The Los Angeles Rams will be looking to avenge their loss from earlier in the season this week against the Arizona Cardinals. Back in Week 2, the Rams fell to the Cardinals 41-10 in one of the biggest losses of the Sean McVay era. The Rams have gotten healthier while winning eight of their last ten games. Here’s how the Rams can avoid getting swept by the Cardinals for the first time since 2016.

    1. Play disciplined on the edges and contain Kyler Murray

When it comes to playing against Kyler Murray the Cardinals offense, it’s important for the Rams defense to keep him in the pocket. That’s not to say that Murray can’t win from the pocket. However, the big plays tend to come with Murray scrambling and extending the play. That’s what happened earlier in the season back in Week 2 and the Rams need to avoid that happening again.

This is really going to test the discipline and growth of Jared Verse. Verse’s worst game of the season arguably came against the Cardinals. He missed four tackles in that game and Murray got the best of him. We’ll see how much Verse has grown and if Murray catches him by surprise once again.

    2. Continue with physical brand of football on offense

Over the past couple of weeks, the Rams have played a physical brand of football that tends to win in December and January. Running back Kyren Williams has run the ball 20 or more times in each of the last three games. They’ll need to lean on Williams and their physical brand of football to beat the Cardinals.

Since Week 13, the Cardinals rank 26th in run defense EPA and run defense success rate. Chuba Hubbard had 25 carries for 152 yards with two touchdowns last week. Two weeks prior, Zach Charbonnet had 22 carries for 134 yards and two touchdowns as the Seahawks beat the Cardinals. The Rams are going to need a sharp version of Matthew Stafford down the stretch. However, if they can continue to lean into the physical style of football that they are playing and having success with, they’ll continue to be a tough team to beat.

    3. Tackle in the run game

This is similar to the first point, but the Rams struggled to tackle James Conner back in Week 2. In fact, Conner had six missed tackles forced and 4.14 yards after contact. The Rams have been better on that side of the ball as of late. With that said, Conner could also miss Saturday’s game with a knee injury as he is listed as questionable.

A big change in the Rams run defense since early in the season was the change in personnel at the linebacker position. Since Omar Speights took over for Troy Reeder in Week 7, the Rams run defense ranks fifth in run defense success rate. They’ll be tested against one of the more efficient rushing offenses in the NFL.

    4. Play good, situational football

When it comes to winning this time of year, it becomes more important to play good, situational football. That will be the case over the next two weeks as the Rams potentially play two must-win games. To put it simply, the Rams have to win on third down and they have to win in the red zone. Back in Week 2, the Cardinals went 7-for-11 which included a conversion on 3rd-and-14. They also went 3-for-4 in the red zone.

This season, the Cardinals are tied for 31st in third-down defense as they allow a conversion at a 44.4 percent rate. The Rams will need to win on third down and protect Matthew Stafford in obvious passing situations.

    5. Avoid giving up the big play

Back in Week 2, the Cardinals had touchdowns of 23, 60, and 18 yards. Two of those would be considered explosives. The Rams defense has been better defending deep balls in recent weeks. Kyler Murray and Marvin Harrison Jr. have struggled to be on the same page. Harrison Jr. had 130 yards and two touchdowns against the Rams earlier in the season. The Rams have made some adjustments at the cornerback position, notably cutting Tre White.

The Cardinals are one of the more explosive offenses in the NFL and will almost certainly test the Rams secondary. Unlike the last two weeks, the Rams won’t have the weather working in their favor. The secondary will need to continue to be active on the ball and play disciplined down the field.

The Los Angeles Rams are gearing up for a crucial Week 17 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers, and one key to victory for the Rams will be getting running back Kyren Williams heavily involved in the game plan.

Williams has been a dynamic playmaker for the Rams this season, showcasing his versatility as both a runner and a receiver out of the backfield. With his speed, agility, and ability to make defenders miss in the open field, Williams has the potential to be a game-changer for the Rams offense.

In order to come out on top against the 49ers, the Rams should look to establish Williams as the focal point of their offensive attack. By feeding him the ball early and often, the Rams can keep the 49ers defense on their toes and open up opportunities for their other playmakers to make big plays.

Additionally, getting Williams involved in the passing game can help quarterback Matthew Stafford find a reliable check-down option and keep the chains moving on offense. With Williams’ ability to make defenders miss in space, he can turn short passes into big gains and keep the 49ers defense off balance.

Overall, if the Rams can make Kyren Williams the focal point of their offensive game plan in Week 17, they will have a much better chance of coming away with a crucial victory and securing their spot in the playoffs. Look for Williams to have a big game and make a significant impact on the outcome of the game.
