  • LeBron, Bronny James turn down chance to compete together at 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend, per report

There will be no on-court father-son moment between LeBron James and Bronny James at NBA All-Star Weekend this year. LeBron and Bronny were extended an invite to compete in the Skills Challenge, but the father-son Lakers pair declined, according to Chris Haynes. Bronny also received an invite to be one of the G League players to compete in the Rising Stars Challenge, to which he also turned down.

It’s unclear why the James duo declined to participate, but had they accepted they would’e been the first father-son duo to compete in the Skills Challenge, which is set to be part of All-Star Saturday Night festivities on Feb. 15.

LeBron has never competed in an event on All-Star Saturday Night, despite the many public pleas from fans and media members alike for him to participate in the dunk contest. He toyed with the idea early on in his career, most notably saying in 2009 that he was “preliminarily putting [his] name in the 2010 dunk contest.” That never happened, and in 2023 LeBron revealed that it was “never something [he] wanted to accomplish” in his career.

Not only will we presumably never see LeBron in the dunk contest, but with this declined invitation of the Skills Challenge, he’ll likely retire without us ever seeing him compete in any of the All-Star events on Saturday night.

For Bronny, it’s rather surprising that he wouldn’t take up the offer for at least the Rising Stars Challenge, especially given the revamped format could’ve given us a potential father-son matchup during the All-Star Game. The league announced a complete overhaul in how the All-Star Game will work, where the 24 All-Stars will be split into three, eight-player teams. They’ll play a mini tournament that will also feature the winning team from the Rising Stars Challenge.

Had Bronny been part of the winning Rising Stars team, and if LeBron’s All-Star team won as well, they could’ve faced off in a championship game. That would’ve certainly been must-watch television. Sadly, though, it appears as though we’ll be deprived of that entertainment.

LeBron and Bronny made NBA history by sharing the court together in the Lakers season opener against the Timberwolves in October, becoming the league’s first father-son duo to play together. Bronny, a second-round pick in last June’s NBA Draft, has played in 11 games for the Lakers so far this season, scoring four points while making just one of his 10 field-goal attempts. Bronny has averaged 14.7 points, 4.4 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game with the South Bay Lakers, the team’s G League affiliate.

LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, have reportedly turned down the chance to compete together at the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend. According to sources, both father and son decided that they wanted to focus on their individual careers and not overshadow each other.

Despite the excitement and anticipation surrounding the potential matchup between the two basketball phenoms, LeBron and Bronny ultimately felt that it was best for them to continue pursuing their own paths in the NBA.

Fans may be disappointed by this news, but it is clear that both LeBron and Bronny have their sights set on achieving greatness in their own right. It will be interesting to see how their careers unfold in the years to come.

  • Killeen ISD promises to monitor forecast over weekend

On Friday afternoon, the school district said leaders will assess weather conditions over the weekend to determine if a closure or delay is necessary. Central Texans can reportedly expect an update from the district on Sunday and throughout the day Monday.

Currently, Killeen ISD said schools will be open as normal on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Killeen ISD said keeping the safety and well-being of students and staff is most important when determining weather-related closures or delays.

The school district promises to notify families and staff as early as possible through official channels, including via phone, text or email, mobile app, district social media and local media outlets.

With severe weather expected to impact the Central Texas area this weekend, Killeen Independent School District (KISD) has announced that they will be closely monitoring the forecast to ensure the safety of students and staff.

In a statement released on Friday, KISD officials stated that they are working closely with local authorities and emergency management teams to stay updated on the evolving weather conditions. They have also assured the community that they will make any necessary decisions regarding school closures or delays in a timely manner.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to stay informed by checking the KISD website and social media channels for updates throughout the weekend. The safety of students and staff is the district’s top priority, and they are taking all necessary precautions to ensure that everyone remains safe during any severe weather events.

As the weekend progresses, KISD will continue to monitor the forecast and provide updates as needed. Stay tuned for more information and be sure to stay weather-aware during this potentially dangerous weather event.

  • Brace for the Siberian Surge—arctic cold hits this weekend

Get ready, Oklahoma! Arctic Siberian air is on the way, bringing a brutal stretch of bitter cold that will have us feeling the effects for days.

This isn’t just your typical winter chill—this is Siberian cold, the kind of air that makes pipes burst, wind chills dangerous, and roads tricky with some light snow in the mix.

    When Does It Arrive?

The first wave of cold air surges on Friday when north winds arrive around 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. into Saturday, sending temperatures plummeting. But that’s just the beginning. The second and even colder blast arrives Sunday, locking us into a deep freeze through at least Wednesday afternoon. That’s nearly 96 hours below freezing, a rare event for Oklahoma!

May be an image of map, arctic and text

    How Cold Are We Talking?

Saturday’s high barely reaches 33°F before the bottom completely drops out. By Sunday, temperatures struggle to climb out of the low 20s, with morning lows dipping into the single digits. And here’s the real kicker: wind chills will make it feel even colder—dangerously cold. By Monday morning, we’re looking at pipe-bursting temperatures, with some areas flirting with zero degrees.

For perspective, if you’re reading this from Minnesota, Iowa, or Ohio, this might sound like just another winter day. But for Oklahoma? This is a serious cold snap.

May be an image of arctic and text that says '9 WHAT'S COMING THIS WEEKEND 0 OKC METRO FRIGID AIR HIGH TEMPS BELOW FREEZING BITING WIND WIND CHILLS NEAR OR BELOW ZERO NEAR SNOW: SATURDAY NIGHT SUNDAY MAINLY LIGHT, BLOWING SNOW COLD STRETCH SEVERAL DAYS BELOW 32°'

    Will There Be Snow?

Yes, but it is not a significant winter storm. We expect flurries for Saturday as the moisture is looking less for any widespread snow. This will be a dry, powdery snow—think powdered sugar, not the good, wet snowman-building kind. Snow totals look light, about an inch in the Metro and possibly 1-3 inches farther west into the Panhandle.

While this won’t be a blizzard, travel issues are still likely due to blowing snow and icy patches, especially early next week.

Monday’s snow is still looking iffy, from nothing to a couple of inches of snow.

May be an image of map, snowplow, arctic and text that says '9 POSSIBLE FUTURE SNOW TOTALS MONDAY MONDAY NIGHT GUYMON 1-3

    How to Prepare

    1. Bundle up! With wind chills near zero, frostbite can happen quickly.
    2. Protect your pipes. Let faucets drip and wrap exposed pipes before Monday morning.
    3. Check on pets & neighbors. If it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them.
    4. Be ready for slick roads. Even a light dusting of snow can cause travel headaches.

May be an image of text that says '9 COLD WEATHER SAFETY TIPS ℃ OF ALL COLD WEATHER CLOTHES NEEDED BRING PETS INDOORS, PREPARE LIVESTOCK PREPARE YOUR HOME. FIREWOOD, ETC. CHECK TIRE PRESSURE, ANTIFREEZE, ETC. CHECK ON THE ELDERLY 10 20 20 二 0'

    Looking Ahead

This Siberian surge isn’t just hitting Oklahoma—it’s plunging deep into the U.S., bringing rare freezes as far south as Florida. So yes, we’re all in this together.

Enjoy the 50s and 60s while you can because come Friday evening, it’s all downhill from there. Stay warm, stay safe, and stay tuned for updates as the Arctic air settles in!

Get ready to bundle up, because a blast of frigid arctic air is set to sweep across the country this weekend. Dubbed the “Siberian Surge,” this cold front is expected to bring temperatures plunging well below freezing in many areas.

From the Midwest to the Northeast, residents are being advised to prepare for icy conditions and dangerously cold wind chills. Make sure to stock up on essentials like extra blankets, gloves, and hats, and check on elderly or vulnerable neighbors to ensure they stay warm.

Whether you’re planning to hunker down at home or venture out into the winter wonderland, be sure to dress in layers and limit your time outdoors to avoid frostbite and hypothermia. Stay safe and stay warm, everyone! #SiberianSurge #ArcticBlast #BundleUp

  • Weekend Update Went Completely Off the Rails Last Night

For most of Saturday Night Live’s history, Weekend Update has been a reliable, mid-show crowd pleaser. The Colin Jost/Michael Che version is no different. While the jokes can be obvious or uninspired on their worst weeks, viewers can usually count on their version of the fake news to deliver a few topical laughs. But host Dave Chappelle must have dropped something funny in Jost and Che’s iced tea last night as the two comics delivered the tipsiest, most manic segment of the season.

And yes, that’s a good thing.

The Studio 8H audience helped, whooping like it had been sniffing glue before the jokes even started. The segment got off to a solid start, with Jost cracking that Donald Trump’s official inaugural portrait “was lit, I assume, by hell opening up.”

Che upped the ante with his inauguration joke: “Donald Trump’s inauguration ceremony has been moved inside the Capitol building. Hey, just like last time!”

The gloves are coming off? Fine by Jost, who fired an off-color joke in Facebook’s direction. “Meta CEO and Puerto Rican gigolo Mark Zuckerberg flew down to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Donald Trump. And boy, are his knees tired.”

“Trump’s inauguration day falls on Martin Luther King Day,” countered Che. “And if Dr. King were alive today, I bet Trump would walk right up to him and say, ‘Oh snap, it’s Ben Carson.’”

All solid punchlines, maybe a little edgier than usual. But let’s see if the guys can push it even further. Here’s Jost: “Robert F Kennedy, Jr., Trump’s nominee to lead the nation’s health agencies, will have his Senate confirmation hearing next week. RFK has been preparing for the hearings by setting his tanning bed to Tropic Thunder.”

Blackface jokes not tasteless enough for you? How about Jost attempting to defend A.I. child pornography in a new segment called “Hear Me Out”?

“A Pulitzer Prize-winning cartoonist was the first person to be arrested according to the new California law prohibiting the possession of A.I.-generated child porn. Which brings me to my new segment, Hear Me Out.”

    “Whoa,” managed a cackling Che.

“Hear me out!” insisted Jost. “Isn’t A.I.-generated child porn the best possible solution for pedophiles? They aren’t real kids. It’s just fake kids that are generated by scanning thousands of real… Okay, now I see the problem.”

A loopy Michael Longfellow scored as he pleaded for TikTok’s survival (“You know who else was from China? That’s right, Jesus Christ”):

Before Sarah Sherman threw herself off the top rope as the original Nosferatu. “Wow, it’s much smaller than I imagined,” croaked the vampire, wiggling hyperextended, clawed fingers.

“Yes, people are always saying that about the studio,” replied Jost.

“Not the studio. Your penis, Colin! You just keep it out like that during Update?”

In other words, Nosferatu became another vehicle for Sherman to torture Jost. As always, she was relentless. “I want to suck your veiny neck!”

“Okay,” countered Jost. “Please do not touch me with your cold, slimy fingers.”

“Said your former assistant!” shouted Nosferatu, striking a classic horror pose.

If Jost wouldn’t give up the blood, the thirsty vampire concluded that it was time to visit his favorite SNL cast member: Sarah Sherman. After all, “she’s been on her period for three years straight.”

“Well, you know what I always say,” replied Jost, reading a line that Sherman clearly wrote to mortify him. “If there’s blood on the field, play ball.”

Go to bed, Weekend Update — you’re drunk. And here’s hoping you stay that way for the reason of Season 50.

Last night’s episode of Weekend Update took a wild turn as the hosts, Colin Jost and Michael Che, went completely off the rails. What started as the usual snarky commentary on the week’s news quickly devolved into chaos.

Jost started things off by making a series of increasingly bizarre jokes, while Che couldn’t stop laughing at his co-host’s antics. The audience was in stitches as the two comedians struggled to regain their composure.

Things took a turn for the worse when a technical glitch caused the graphics to go haywire, displaying random images and text on screen. Jost and Che tried to soldier on, but the chaos only escalated as they attempted to make sense of the chaos.

As the show spiraled out of control, the hosts eventually gave up trying to stick to the script and instead let loose, riffing on whatever came to mind. The result was a hilarious and unpredictable segment that left everyone in stitches.

Despite the chaos, Jost and Che managed to bring the show to a close with a mix of self-deprecating humor and genuine laughter. The unexpected detour may have thrown them off track, but it made for one of the most memorable episodes of Weekend Update in recent memory.

Tune in next week to see if Jost and Che can keep it together, or if they’ll once again go completely off the rails.

The Meta CEO “flew down to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Donald Trump, and boy are his knees tired,” Colin Jost jokes

Saturday Night Live‘s Weekend Update addressed several elements of the presidential transition process, including a new portrait of Donald Trump, figures like Mark Zuckerberg cozying up to the president-elect, and some of President Joe Biden’s final actions while in office.

“It’s the dawn of a new era,” co-anchor Colin Jost began. “Donald Trump released his official inaugural portrait, and the photo is lit, I assume, by hell opening up.”

“Trump is trying to look so hardcore in his photo, I’m surprised he didn’t add a parental advisory sticker and a durag,” he joked.

“And then Trump also released the official portrait of J.D. Vance,” he continued, as an anonymous gray avatar showed on screen.

Later, Jost addressed the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas. In other words, Jost said, the two parties “committed to their version of Dry January.”

“President Biden said that the Israel/Hamas cease-fire talks were one of the toughest negotiations he had ever experienced,” Jost continued. “The hardest part was convincing both sides that he was still the president.”

Michael Che then reacted to Biden naming Navy aircraft carriers after two of his predecessors: George W. Bush and Bill Clinton.

“The carrier will also honor Bill Clinton by being covered in seamen,” Che quipped.

As for Zuckerberg, who donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural committee and made the Trump-friendly move of nixing fact-checking on Facebook and Instagram, Jost’s line was succinct:

“Meta CEO and Puerto Rican gigolo Mark Zuckerberg flew down to Mar-a-Lago to meet with Donald Trump, and boy are his knees tired.”

This past weekend, Saturday Night Live’s Weekend Update segment took aim at Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg for cozying up to President Donald Trump.

During the segment, co-anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che mocked Zuckerberg for recently hosting a secret dinner with Trump at the White House. Jost joked, “It’s like when the villain meets the other villain.”

Che added, “Zuckerberg is just trying to get on Trump’s good side so he can keep spreading fake news on Facebook. It’s like when a rat sees a piece of cheese and says, ‘I can work with this guy.’”

The segment went on to criticize Zuckerberg for refusing to fact-check political ads on Facebook, despite widespread criticism and calls for change. Jost quipped, “It’s like if the head of the FDA said, ‘You know what, let’s just let the rats test the new drugs.’”

Overall, SNL’s Weekend Update segment didn’t hold back in its criticism of Zuckerberg’s actions and his relationship with Trump. The segment served as a reminder of the importance of holding powerful figures accountable, even in the world of tech and social media.

  • Inauguration weekend: Barack Obama goes solo at private dinner amid Michelle Obama divorce rumours

All the while Barack Obama and Michelle Obama have been plagued by divorce rumours, the former US president was seen alone at a Saturday night inauguration weekend celebration in Washington, D.C.

Barack Obama was spotted at Stephen Starr’s Osteria Mozza in Georgetown, Washington D.C. this weekend ahead of Trump’s inauguration on January 20, 2025. (Instagram: Stephen Starr / Jessica Sidman)

The dinner party was held at A-list restaurateur Stephen Starr’s Osteria Mozza in Georgetown, which the former first lady skipped just like her pre-announced absence at Donald Trump’s inauguration on Monday.

Sources claimed that Mr Obama’s attendance at the restaurant sent others in utter disbelief as walked upstairs for the dinner party, per Page Six’s Sunday report. While he is believed to have kept things jovial, “he didn’t stop and take photos with people.” Contrary to that claim, Obama did, in fact, make an exception to click a snap alongside Stephen Starr, as validated by his Instagram Story update.

    Barack Obama still had company

Jessica Sidman, a food editor for the Washington Post, also corroborated the report, sharing visual proof on social media. “Obama dined in a private room at @osteriamozzadc tonight. Tipsters say fellow diners applauded when he walked in the side entrance with Secret Service,” she wrote on her IG Stories with a distant picture of the man himself posing for a picture with an intimate group.

Though sans Michelle Obama, the ex-prez wasn’t necessarily left to his solitude at the soiree. President Joe Biden’s White House Chief of Staff, Jeff Zients, arrived shortly after he did, keeping him company.

Although the Obamas have been already caught in weeks-long speculations that all may not be well in marriage paradise, Barack attempted to quell that online fire by posting a tribute to the “love of my life” on her 61st birthday on Friday.

Despite her absence at the Inauguration weekend party, Michelle shares her own history with Starr’s restaurant. Back in November, when the Georgetown establishment had merely opened weeks ago, she hosted a holiday dinner for her team. Per previous reports, she purportedly “christened” it as the “California-style Italian” eatery.

Why Michelle Obama is not attending Trump’s inauguration?

On Monday, Barack Obama will again step out without her for Trump’s swearing-in ceremony – also to be attended by Joe and Jill Biden, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and George W and Laura Bush. Earlier this month, the tabloid’s sources suggested that Michelle is sitting out the historic event because “She’s never been fake and she’s never been phony. She’s always been very deliberate about where and how she shows up.”

Inauguration weekend: Barack Obama goes solo at private dinner amid Michelle Obama divorce rumours

As the nation eagerly awaited the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden, all eyes were on former President Barack Obama as he made a rare public appearance without his wife, Michelle Obama. Speculation about the couple’s marriage has been swirling for months, with tabloids and gossip columns fueling rumors of a potential divorce.

Despite the swirling rumors, Barack Obama seemed unfazed as he attended a private dinner in Washington, D.C., surrounded by close friends and allies. The former president appeared in good spirits, laughing and chatting with guests as he enjoyed a delicious meal in the intimate setting.

While Michelle Obama was notably absent from the dinner, sources close to the couple insist that there is no truth to the divorce rumors. The Obamas have been married for over 28 years and have weathered many storms together, including the pressures of public life and the challenges of raising two daughters in the spotlight.

As Barack Obama moves forward into this new chapter of his life, it is clear that he remains committed to his values and his vision for a better future for all Americans. And as for the rumors of a divorce? Only time will tell if they hold any truth.
