Before the release of the movie, there were mixed reports about the box office performance of the movie. Many analysts said the movie would not be able to leave a mark on the box office, while others disagreed. To the surprise of the former group, ‘Emergency’ opened with a decent number of Rs.2.5 crore on Friday, and thereafter, it also saw a rise in the business, according to the Sacnilk report. On day 2 the movie made Rs3.6 crore business, which was a 44 per cent increase from the previous day’s collection. On its first Sunday, i.e. day 4, the movie made Rs.4.35 crore and took the overall collection to Rs.10.45 crore. With these numbers, Kangana Ranaut’s ‘Emergency’ is leading the box office, leaving behind heavy-weight champions like ‘Game Changer.’ Starring Ram Charan, ‘Game Changer’ made an impressive opening with Rs 51 crore; however, after the first day, the business only witnessed a downhill. On Sunday the movie minted Rs. 2.50 crore. It was followed by ‘Azaad,’ featuring Rasha Thandhni and Aman Devgan. The movie made Rs. 1.85 crore. And then comes Allu Arjun’s ‘Pushpa 2,’ which after more than a month of theatrical release, made Rs. 1.18 core on Sunday. This pattern in the atmosphere is allowing for an arctic air mass to push in from the north. This arctic air mass will affect more than two-thirds of the country. Much of the lower 48 will experience temperatures 10-30 below normal.
Light winds from a northeasterly direction will bring in some of the chilly air into the Pacific Northwest. Low temperatures across the region will plunge to 27-30. Daytime high temperatures will be 40-42.
These high/low temperatures are expected to grip western Washington through at least the next 7 days.
This ridge of high pressure is typically associated with mostly clear conditions and calm winds. But this also lets sinking air cool, and reach saturation, and fog can develop and low stratus clouds. The fog struggles to mix around with little winds and can linger through the early afternoon. With low temperatures hovering in the upper 20s and low 30s, freezing fog and black ice can form. Drive with caution.

Developed and published by NetEase Games, Marvel Rivals is a free-to-play team-based PvP shooter set in the Marvel Universe. Anthony Mackie returns as the high-flying hero Sam Wilson, who’s officially taken up the mantle of Captain America. After meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross, Sam finds himself in the middle of an international incident. He must discover the reason behind a nefarious global plot before the true mastermind has the entire world seeing red.

Thank heaven for the Tampa Bay-Washington Divisional Doink which halted a streak of four straight flat-out ugly football games. Without that, we would have had an unrelenting weekend of awful pro football … a stark contrast to the two College Football Playoff instant classics that led into the NFL playoffs.
This opening round of the NFL playoffs — don’t call it “Super Wild Card Weekend” anymore, the NFL quietly trashed that awful branding — actually replicated the first round of the CFP in all the wrong ways. In each of the first four games, three of which were certified blowouts, the home team dusted the visitors without a whole lot of trouble, or drama. All four winners captured the leads they’d never surrender in the first half — sometimes early (Philadelphia, 101 seconds into the game) and sometimes late (Houston, 58 seconds before halftime). By the end of all four games, the announcers were already previewing the next round’s matchup long before the clock hit zeroes.
The simple truth about football, at both the college and pro levels, is this: The gap between the elite teams and everyone else is vast and virtually unbridgeable. (And the ability of the Chargers to saw off their own feet remains unmatched.) Only the single-game variance of football allows for unexpected results to occasionally crop up; if the Bills played the Broncos in a best-of-seven, Denver would be lucky to force a Game 6.
The six-game wild-card round has variances, but it’s trending toward a familiar pattern. Since the playoffs grew to six wild-card weekend games in 2020, the higher seed tends to win, and win by an increasingly large margin.
In 2024, there will be a maximum of two one-possession games, if Minnesota and the Rams keep it close Monday night. The higher seed has won four of five so far.
In 2023, only one of the opening-round games was closer than 14 points. (The Lions defeated the Rams, 24-23.) The higher seed won five of six.
In 2022, there were actually four one-possession games, including Jacksonville’s rally from down 27-0. The higher seed won four of six.
In 2021, there were two one-possession games, and the higher seed won five of six.
In 2020, when the playoffs began, there were three-one possession games. The higher seed won only two of six, but 2020 was a weird year that shouldn’t count for anything anyway.

What does all this mean for the playoffs going forward? Well, in the same way that adding ice cubes to your beer isn’t going to do much for the flavor, adding more teams to the playoffs won’t do anything to the competitive balance of the postseason. Because, let’s remember … you’re not adding those teams to the top of the bracket.
Combine the NFL playoffs’ inevitable expansion to 16 teams with the overall league’s inevitable expansion to 18 games, and you can see where we’re heading — more playoff blowouts, more less-than-qualified teams in the postseason.
The argument for an expanded playoff is obvious: more teams = more fans invested in the playoff race = more revenue. But remember how the playoff “race” went this year — only three teams were still in contention in Week 18 that didn’t make the postseason, and the Falcons, Dolphins and Bengals didn’t exactly spend this season covering themselves in glory only to fall short at the last second. The NFL has a whole lot of bad teams every year, and allowing two more of them to slip into the postseason will do nothing to improve the overall product.
There’s always the chance you’ll get a miracle finish like Washington-Tampa Bay. But the likelihood in every wild-card weekend going forward is that the annual Saturday afternoon Texans slapfight will be the rule, rather than the unwatchable exception.
As the NFL’s wild-card weekend wraps up, fans and analysts alike are buzzing about the thrilling matchups and intense competition that unfolded on the field. From the nail-biting finishes to the underdog victories, the weekend certainly did not disappoint.
But amidst all the excitement, one thing became clear: the playoffs should not be expanded any further. The current format, with six teams from each conference earning a spot in the postseason, already provides a perfect balance of competitiveness and excitement. Adding more teams to the mix would only dilute the quality of play and diminish the drama that makes the playoffs so special.

With only 12 teams currently making the cut, every regular-season game carries enormous weight, and only the best of the best make it to the playoffs. This ensures that the teams competing for the championship truly deserve to be there.
In conclusion, the NFL’s wild-card weekend served as a reminder of why the playoffs should not be expanded. The current format strikes the perfect balance between competitiveness and excitement, and adding more teams to the mix would only detract from the drama and intensity that make the postseason so special. Let’s keep the playoffs as they are and continue to enjoy the thrilling matchups and unforgettable moments that they provide.
We are already halfway through the month of January, so the days are starting to count down to close the winter market. Some clubs are trying to make the most of their options to strengthen the team. This is the case for Real Madrid, which remains very alert to several names for the coming hours.

“David Alaba is going to be tested in a scrimmage with academy players” reported on the plans with the Austrian. After not being in the team against Celta, they wanted to conduct this test. “It’s going to serve to test if he’s ready to play” he concluded about the left-footed central defender.
It’d be great news that can be completed since “next weekend they might recover Alaba.” Since the end of 2024, this was the plan they had in place with him at Madrid. They had marked the game against Las Palmas in red for his possible return.

Real Madrid has seen how injuries have plagued the defense in recent years. Militão twice, Carvajal, or Alaba have missed many months of competition, putting Ancelotti in a bind. His latest solutions with Tchouaméni haven’t pleased anyone.

The Frenchman has made gross errors, and Bernabéu booed him in the Copa match against Celta de Vigo. However, with Alaba’s return, Ancelotti will once again have a center-back he fully trusts. Although it’s going to take time for him to regain competitive rhythm.

The market may be heating up for free agency’s top reliever. Jon Morosi of the MLB Network reports that Tanner Scott is weighing multiple multi-year offers and may choose his team by this weekend.
Morosi suggests that the Cubs are among Scott’s top suitors. Chicago president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer said this week that the bullpen is “probably the area we’ve been focused on most in free agency.” There’d be no bigger upgrade than Scott, though that’d be an out-of-character move for Hoyer’s front office. The Cubs have not signed a free agent reliever to a multi-year deal or a guarantee above $9MM in more than five years.
Sahadev Sharma of The Athletic writes that while the Cubs do indeed like Scott, they may be reluctant to meet the asking price. Previous reporting has suggested that Scott’s annual salary could approach $20MM on what’d presumably be a three- or four-year contract. Even if the money doesn’t quite get to that level, this would be a major investment. Scott should easily land the top reliever deal of the winter.
The Dodgers have been tied to Scott for months. After landing Roki Sasaki, a back-end reliever is the last box on L.A.’s offseason checklist. The Braves have also shown interest, while the Mets were more recently reported as a suitor. That no longer seems to be the case. New York agreed to terms with A.J. Minter on a two-year, $22MM guarantee this afternoon. Mike Puma of The New York Post reports that the Minter deal means the Mets are expected to drop their run at Scott.
Scott has been one of the best relievers in baseball for two seasons. He fired 78 innings of 2.31 ERA ball for the Marlins in 2023. The 30-year-old southpaw was even better last year. Scott earned his first All-Star nod and combined for a sterling 1.75 earned run average through 72 frames between Miami and the Padres. He averages nearly 97 MPH on his fastball and has punched out at least 28% of opposing hitters in three straight seasons.
Tanner Scott, the talented left-handed relief pitcher, could be signing with a new team as soon as this weekend. With multiple teams reportedly showing interest in the free agent, Scott has the potential to make a significant impact wherever he lands.

In purely statistical terms Eddie Howe has something in common with Kevin Keegan and Rafael Benítez. It involves an ascent to cloud nine. All three managers have choreographed nine-game winning streaks during their Newcastle tenures. When his former employers Bournemouth visit Tyneside on Saturday, Howe’s class of 2025 aim to make it a perfect 10 victories in a row. If the current streak – featuring six Premier League wins and three in the domestic cups – is largely down to Sandro Tonali’s relocation to the tempo setting No 6 central midfield role, Alexander Isak seems a key beneficiary. The Sweden striker has scored 14 goals in Newcastle’s last 13 league games, netting at least once in each of their last eight fixtures. Might Isak eventually eclipse Jamie Vardy’s Premier League record of scoring in 11 successive matches? Another fun-fest at the Gtech?
For the first time this season Liverpool play an away game at 3pm on a Saturday. Previously they have had three such kick-offs at Anfield – against Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Brighton – while their Saturday away games have started at 12.30pm, 5.30pm and 8pm. The TV schedulers don’t know what they’re doing: every Brentford home game should be broadcast live, because they are as close as football gets to guaranteed fun. The two goalkeepers should be braced for a busy afternoon: so far this season 38.9% of Liverpool’s shots have been on target, more than every other team in the top flight but one. That one, inevitably, is Brentford, who are running at 43.2%, a number that partly explains why their shot conversion rate is the best in the league. They are the only team in the division with two players in double figures for goals scored. Moyes needs to dig up some goals
One game was all it took for the paucity of Everton’s attacking options to hit home for David Moyes and the new manager to call for “desperately needed” reinforcements. The club’s transfer record does not bode well for finding solutions in the notoriously difficult January market. Since Richarlison was sold to Tottenham for £60m in the summer of 2022, Everton’s recruitment for the final third has been lamentable, even accounting for the financial juggling act that the director of football, Kevin Thelwell, has had to perform. The attackers signed on Thelwell’s watch are as follows: Neal Maupay, Dwight McNeil, Jack Harrison, Arnaut Danjuma, Youssef Chermiti, Beto, Iliman Ndiaye, Jesper Lindstrøm and Armando Broja. McNeil and potentially Ndiaye are the only pluses. This season’s intake of Ndiaye, Harrison, Lindstrøm and Broja, who arrived injured and is now out for another three months with ankle ligament damage, have delivered three goals and no assists between them. Amorim’s chance to assess progress
Eighty-one days into piloting Manchester United, Ruben Amorim knows the vagaries of a challenge that defeated David Moyes, Louis van Gaal, José Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Erik ten Hag. The Portuguese can boast a 2-1 smash-and-grab derby victory at Manchester City, a credible 2-2 draw at Liverpool, and last weekend’s doughty FA Cup triumph at Arsenal. There have also been hapless defeats to Arsenal (in the league), Nottingham Forest, Tottenham, Bournemouth, Newcastle and Wolves, plus a troubling display against Southampton on Thursday before Amad Diallo’s late hat-trick. Day 83 features the visit of Brighton, who ping the ball about in the manner Amorim is seeking to install at United. August’s reverse fixture ended with Fabian Hürzeler’s men winning 2-1, so this will be an intriguing barometer of where the 39-year-old’s reboot of United stands. Jamie Jackson
During Manchester City’s slide, much has been made of the many jewels dotted around the Premier League who could have been of use to Pep Guardiola during his hours of need. To set aside Roméo Lavia and Cole Palmer at Chelsea, Liam Delap has been towards the top of the list of those allowed to leave but now missed by fans and within the club. With Erling Haaland around, Delap was well advised to seek first-team football elsewhere and has been Ipswich’s leading light in the Premier League. Guardiola is not a coach known for fielding barnstorming strikers, Haaland breaking that mould, but while Delap is a fine advert for the club’s academy – and helped along City’s profitability and sustainability ratings in being sold for £20m – one of the season’s stars is no help to the club that bred him. Guardiola will not be at City for ever and Delap represents a cashing-in of a possible future beyond his reign. JB

Blues to stick with misfiring Jackson
Nicolas Jackson got an assist for Cole Palmer during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth, and the striker’s all-round game is still encouraging. The issue remains his reliability in front of goal. Jackson missed some glaring opportunities and has now scored once in his past seven appearances. The positive, of course, is that he is getting into the right areas. There is a lot of pressure on Jackson at the moment and Chelsea are short of alternatives, with Enzo Maresca seemingly not sold on the unsettled Christopher Nkunku. Expect Jackson to start again against Wolves on Monday – even though ideally, he would be taken out of the firing line and the burden placed on someone else’s shoulders. JS

All eyes on the King Power shot count
Ruud van Nistelrooy cut a particularly despondent figure after the 2-0 midweek defeat by Crystal Palace, a game in which Leicester had 21 shots but failed to score. “It was the lowest we’ve felt so far in my spell because today we had high hopes of proving ourselves with points and a performance,” he said. “We are able to create but we have to start finishing them.” That’s the curious thing about Leicester’s results this season. Of the nine games (in all competitions) in which they’ve had most shots they have won only two, one against Tranmere in the Carabao Cup, while they have lost five. You would probably expect returns more like Fulham’s: their nine most shot-heavy matches have brought one defeat and five wins. It is the other end of Fulham’s table that is confusing. Of their five games with the fewest shots they have lost only one and won two, whereas Leicester have sensibly converted every one of their five least shot-ful performances into defeats. Given that the creation of shooting chances (as well, to be fair, as converting them) is pretty much the point of football, this means that Leicester do really badly when they do well, while Fulham do quite well when they do badly. Saints will look beyond trip to Forest
The good news: after this match Southampton will have to endure only two more away games against current top-half teams, with trips to Chelsea and Liverpool looming in successive matches at the end of February and start of March. The bad news: the flipside of that coin is that six must still visit St Mary’s. Southampton’s best chance of picking up points comes when they play bottom-half teams at home. The Saints’ six points have been earned with a home win over Everton, a home draw with Ipswich and draws at Fulham and Brighton, who both currently sit just inside the top half. They will host both of those sides before the end of the season, but only two teams who are currently in the bottom half: Wolves and Crystal Palace, back-to-back in March and April. Having led for so long but failed to win at Old Trafford, Southampton face a sobering scrap for points in the coming weeks. SB
