The Weeknd just released his new album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, and he’s now announced the accompanying stadium tour dates. Supporting the Weeknd for most shows on the new leg of the After Hours Til Dawn Tour is the singer’s “Timeless” collaborator Playboi Carti; producer Mike Dean is also joining the tour as a special guest. (Playboi Carti won’t be joining for the SoFi Stadium dates, as he’ll have already performed near the stadium for Rolling Loud California.) See the Weeknd’s tour dates below.
Remarkably, it’s been just about five years since the Weeknd announced the initial incarnation of the After Hours Til Dawn Tour. Of course, he had to delay the tour, originally set to commence in the spring of 2020, due to the pandemic. The tour finally began in 2022, and he played more shows in 2023 and 2024.
Hurry Up Tomorrow closes the trilogy that the Weeknd began with Afters Hours and Dawn FM. The new album features Playboi Carti, Anitta, Lana Del Rey, and more.

Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell starring in the wedding comedy “You’re Cordially Invited” and The Weeknd’s album “Hurry Up Tomorrow” are some of the new television, films, music and games headed to a device near you.
Also among the streaming offerings worth your time as selected by The Associated Press’ entertainment journalists: Director Robert Zemeckis’ “Here” with Tom Hanks, Sterling K. Brown returns to TV as a Secret Service agent and there’s a sequel to “Citizen Sleeper,” the surprise gaming hit of 2022.
NEW MOVIES TO STREAM JAN. 27-FEB. 2
– Rival weddings collide in “You’re Cordially Invited,” a comedy about double-booked destination nuptials starring Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell. The film, streaming Thursday on Prime Video, unites a pair of stars from different realms of comedy in Witherspoon, who’s planning a wedding for her sister (Meredith Hagner), and Ferrell, whose daughter (Geraldine Viswanathan) is getting married. In the Nicholas Stoller-directed movie, the two families share a Georgia island wedding venue.
— Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickinson star in Halina Reijn’s “Babygirl” (on premium video-on-demand beginning Tuesday), a kinky and darkly comic erotic thriller from A24. Kidman stars as a married Manhattan chief executive who falls under the intense sway of a new intern (Dickinson), leading to some memorable sex games of manipulation and control. In my review, I praised “Babygirl” as “a sometimes campy, frequently entertaining modern update to the erotically charged movies of the 1990s, like ‘Basic Instinct’ and ‘9 ½ Weeks.’”
— Robert Zemeckis’ “Here” has already lived many lives since opening in theaters last October. It was roundly dismissed by critics at release, only to continue to pick up defenders as the year came to a close. “Here” gets a second chance Thursday on Netflix. The film, starring Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, fixes the camera, for seemingly one long take, on one plot of land, from the time of dinosaurs up until modern day. In his review, AP’s Mark Kennedy wrote, “It’s not so strange after a while — so bursting with life is each shot and vignette — but there’s a gnawing feeling that we’re in some sort of film experiment, like testing an audience on how long they’ll watch old security camera footage.”
— Live from your Peacock subscription, it’s Saturday night! On Tuesday — and premiering the day before at 8 p.m. ET on NBC — is the release of a new “Saturday Night Live” special, “Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music.” The three-hour program, directed by Grammy and Academy Award-winner Questlove and Emmy Award winner Oz Rodriguez, will spotlight memorable “SNL” music performances across the the show’s incredible run. It will feature sketches, performances and over 50 interview subjects, including Bad Bunny, Miley Cyrus, Billie Eilish, Mick Jagger, Dua Lipa, Darryl DMC McDaniels, Tom Morello, Kacey Musgraves, Olivia Rodrigo, Paul Simon, Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake.

— It is the end of an era, and no doubt, one heck of a closer. On Friday, The Weeknd will release the final album in his record-breaking trilogy that began with 2020’s “After Hours” and 2022’s “Dawn FM.” It reaches its coda with “Hurry Up Tomorrow.” So, what can listeners expect from one of the biggest names in pop — and the only artist to have 25 songs with 1 billion streams on Spotify? The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, is keeping the details close to his chest. But if this collection of songs comes close to something like “Blinding Lights,” well, expect them to stick around for a while.
— Since “This Is Us” aired its series finale in 2022, Sterling K. Brown has had voice roles in animated shows and has concentrated on film work. He is back on TV with a new series called “Paradise” also created by Dan Fogelman. Brown, also an executive producer, plays a Secret Service agent for the U.S. President (James Marsden) and discovers a murder that leads to shocking revelations. The first three episodes will debut on Hulu on Tuesday (with a linear rollout of the premiere on Hulu and FX). It will then drop weekly on the streaming service.

— Noah Centineo’s “The Recruit” returns to Netflix with a second season after a long delay due in part to the Hollywood strikes. The actor plays a lawyer with a new job at the CIA who quickly finds himself embroiled in international politics. The show is suspenseful, compelling and funny. Centineo still has the charisma that charmed viewers of the “To All the Boys” movies and it carries over for an older demo with this series. “The Recruit” season two premieres Thursday on Netflix.
— The true crime docuseries “Scamanda” unravels the web of lies of Amanda Riley, a woman who faked having cancer and collected sympathy, money and gifts while she did it. Journalist Charlie Webster first told Riley’s story in a podcast of the same name and has teamed up with ABC News to bring it to TV. The series begins airing Thursday on ABC and also streams on Hulu next day.
— Citizen Sleeper, a haunting survival adventure set aboard a decrepit space station, became a surprise hit in 2022 by mixing clever gameplay with a caustic take on very-late-stage capitalism. Designer Gareth Damian Martin is now expanding on that world with Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector. Once again, you’re an android on the run from the corporation that built you, but now you have a rickety spaceship at your command. That gives you the freedom to bounce around the asteroids of the Starward Belt, where you can search for replacement parts, recruit crew members and take on high-risk contracts — as long as you can keep your own mechanical body from glitching out. Liftoff begins Friday on PlayStation 5, Xbox X/S, Nintendo Switch and PC.

So grab your popcorn, cozy up on the couch, and get ready to indulge in a month of top-notch entertainment with these exciting streaming options. January 2025 is shaping up to be a fantastic start to the new year!
Where the story can go next after that is anyone’s guess, but he’s given us a couple hints: in addition to the previously released singles “Dancing in the Flames,” “Timeless” with Playboi Carti, and “Sao Paulo” with Anitta – all of which seem to draw reference to a sort of baptism by fire – he’s also posted some teasers depicting himself as a baby. He even shared a Biblical quote: “Humanity in its present form is frail, deteriorating, and weak. To share in eternal life, however, our bodies must be transformed.”
In any case, the last five years have been a whirlwind of successes, failures, and ambitious creative risks for The Weeknd, but he’s maintained his position as one of music’s most compelling and endlessly entertaining figures – not to mention his position on top of the charts. We’re looking back at some of the most memorable moments from his latest trilogy of albums as we prepare for its thrilling conclusion on January 31.
The Unluckiest Man Alive
Honestly, with every freak occurrence that’s happened to The Weeknd over the last five years, it’s pretty impressive that he’s still the second-streamed artist on global Spotify. The delay of Hurry Up Tomorrow due to the still-raging Los Angeles fires – Tesfaye wisely opting not to drop a project whose two most popular singles reference a city on fire and dancing in the flames – is only the latest. Whether it’s After Hours dropping as COVID infections first soared, Doja Cat’s tonsil surgery forcing her to drop out of the rescheduled tour, or the final show of the same tour being cancelled due to a nationwide shutdown of Rogers’ networks, it’s seemed like a curse has been following him. Add to that the Grammys’ inexplicable oversights of his work, losing his voice mid-show at SoFi Stadium, and even tweeting “LET’S GOOOOOOOO,” intending to announce a Dawn FM TV special, at the exact moment that Russia invaded Ukraine, and we can only imagine where he would be if his luck turned around.
For the History Books
Despite all of that, The Weeknd still managed to score the most successful song of all time – and according to Billboard, that’s a statistical fact. After Hours’ second single, “Blinding Lights,” dethroned Chubby Checker’s “The Twist,” the sixties dance craze that held the record for sixty-one years, on November 23, 2021, after spending a record-obliterating 57 weeks in the chart’s top 10 (and 90 weeks total on the Hot 100). A delightfully eighties-infused synth-pop banger that still fit snugly in Tesfaye’s dark-pop aesthetics, it spawned endless imitators and resulted in just about every song vying for pop attention sounding exactly like it for the next two or three years. Overplayed? Sure, but you know you’d still turn it up if it came on.
Super Bowl Sunday
What better showcase for the world’s most popular song than the world’s most-watched television program? Putting a final stamp on the After Hours era before squirrelling away to work on the trilogy’s second segment, The Weeknd’s halftime show at 2021’s Super Bowl LV was one of the most memorable and ambitious performances in NFL history. In addition to the memes it generated – like the image of the red-suited Sin City showman stumbling around in a disorienting mirror maze – the scope and choreography of the performance left an impression, as Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium was invaded by hundreds of masked, bandaged dancers. Not only that, it was reported he spent over seven million dollars of his own money to boost the budget. That’s dedication to leaving an impact.
Character Work
Whether it’s the exaggerated, party-starting version of himself with the extravagant hairstyle that coloured his early albums, or the Starboy himself, The Weeknd bolstering his musical output with an underlying storyline and symbolic characters is nothing new – it’s part of what made that Super Bowl performance so compelling. As far as the new trilogy is concerned, we’ve already discussed the bloody guy with the red suit and the ‘80s mustache, but his Dawn FM persona really stood out. Taking the Internet by surprise when he posted the album artwork – depicting him made up as an elderly version of himself, he fully brought the persona out to play in the “Gasoline” music video – where he fights younger versions of himself. We’ll see if the life cycle continues.
A Shocking Confession
Many of The Weeknd’s characters and video narratives are pretty dark and serious – but he’s also shown in recent years that he’s able to make fun of himself. His biggest media tie-in of the new trilogy era might have been recording the track “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)” for the Avatar 2 soundtrack, but the most memorable was easily his appearance on American Dad, which aired only two months after After Hours came out. In the episode, Smith family daughter Hayley repeatedly tries to seduce the singer before he reveals that his X-rated lyrics have all been lies, ultimately serenading her with a far-too-catchy track called “I’m A Virgin.” Good luck getting this one out of your head.
Swing and a Miss
Of course, when it comes to branching out into other media, not all of The Weeknd’s ideas have proven to be winners. In a move that probably would have been seriously career-damaging for almost anyone else, his team-up with Euphoria creator Sam Levinson on 2023’s HBO series The Idol was met with critical pans across the board. With some questionable acting choices after the soft-spoken singer placed himself in the role of intimidating cult leader Tedros, the show mistook shock value for storyline and ended up flailing, having its runtime abruptly trimmed to only five episodes mid-season. At least the accompanying original soundtrack, featuring fifteen new tracks from artists like Troye Sivan, Moses Sumney, Mike Dean and The Weeknd himself, was pretty great.
High-Profile Connections
The Weeknd has been a true superstar for around a decade now, but when an artist is able to rack up admirers like Jim Carrey, Quincy Jones and Elton John, you know they’re reaching a sort of imperial phase. Carrey, who grew up about a thirty-minute drive down Highway 404 north of Abel himself, served as Dawn FM’s narrator, the radio personality welcoming listeners to the afterlife, while the late, great Jones tells a story about relationship troubles to tie in to the album’s theme of dealing with regret. The biggest praise, however, might have been Elton’s. Often one to give his seal of approval to newer artists, he penned a piece for Time Magazine’s 100 most influential people of 2020 article, closing it with this: “Like Prince, he marches to his own beat. That’s an exemplary way for an artist to be.” Here’s a track that samples one of Elton’s classics.
Return to the Desert
There has always been an impressive rolodex of collaborators attaching their names to one of The Weeknd’s projects – during the recent trilogy era, that list includes a list of superstar acts as diverse as Ariana Grande, Travis Scott, Post Malone, FKA twigs and Rosalia – but his best showcase of flexing his collaborative muscles might have been a joint headlining performance with Swedish House Mafia on one of the world’s biggest stages. After previously headlining Coachella in 2018, Abel accepted the spot last-minute after some predictably erratic behaviour from Kanye West led him to drop out. Running through the hits with the DJ trio who produced some of his Dawn FM singles, it was two artists known for large-scale spectacle operating at the peak of their game.
Going to War
There’s a long list of admirers, sure, but The Weeknd also has some notable haters. Despite being the artist who essentially plucked him from obscurity after posting the then-anonymous Abel’s music to his blog in 2010, Drake’s relationship with his protégé turned sour in recent years (much, it seems, like his relationship with just about everyone he meets). While we all know how Kendrick Lamar took the baton and ran with it this past year, The Weeknd was front and centre when the beef first started to brew. He appeared on both of Metro Boomin’s albums, We Don’t Trust You – which contained Lamar’s incendiary “Like That” verse – and We Still Don’t Trust You, where he addressed things most directly on the song “All To Myself” and sings about a bullet dodged in not fully committing to OVO.
The Billions Club
Despite any turmoil that might arise, though, at the end of the day, the numbers don’t lie. In fact, The Weeknd has enough songs that have racked up a billion streams on Spotify to put on a full concert with just those. Taking the stage in December 2024 for an event called Billions Club Live, he assumed his crown as the artist with the most songs that have reached the milestone in the platform’s history – with an impressive 25 and counting. Running from some of his earliest smash hits like “The Hills” and “Earned It” to recent collabs like “Creepin” and tracks from The Idol soundtrack, as well as a couple new tunes to preview Hurry Up Tomorrow,it’s the kind of achievement that just about any artist – no matter how big – would dream of having.
The Weeknd has become a household name in the world of R&B and pop music, known for his soulful vocals and dark, introspective lyrics. One of his most iconic projects is his trilogy of mixtapes, consisting of “House of Balloons,” “Thursday,” and “Echoes of Silence.” These three projects were released in 2011 and 2012, and they marked the beginning of The Weeknd’s meteoric rise to fame.
“House of Balloons” was the first mixtape to be released, and it set the tone for the rest of the trilogy. The project was a moody and atmospheric collection of songs that delved into themes of love, lust, and drug use. Tracks like “Wicked Games” and “The Morning” showcased The Weeknd’s unique vocal style and his ability to create hauntingly beautiful music.
“Thursday” continued the dark and brooding sound of “House of Balloons,” with The Weeknd further exploring themes of love and heartbreak. The mixtape featured standout tracks like “The Zone” and “Gone,” which showcased The Weeknd’s versatility as an artist. The project received critical acclaim and solidified The Weeknd’s status as a rising star in the music industry.
“Echoes of Silence” served as the conclusion to the trilogy, with The Weeknd delivering some of his most emotionally raw and introspective songs yet. Tracks like “Initiation” and “Till Dawn (Here Comes the Sun)” showcased The Weeknd’s growth as an artist and his willingness to push boundaries in his music. The mixtape received widespread praise from critics and fans alike, solidifying The Weeknd’s status as a force to be reckoned with in the music industry.
In conclusion, The Weeknd’s trilogy of mixtapes will always be remembered as a pivotal moment in his career. These projects showcased his unique sound and lyrical prowess, setting the stage for his future success in the music industry. As fans eagerly await new music from The Weeknd, it’s clear that a part of him will always live on through the timeless music of the trilogy.
The Weeknd discusses Jenna Ortega’s pivotal role in his film, Hurry Up Tomorrow.
He was very impressed when Jenna Ortega improvised a key scene in the psychological thriller.
Barry Keoghan also stars, handpicked by The Weeknd for his breakout talent.
Hurry Up Tomorrow explores fame’s impact, releasing in theaters May 16, 2025.
Abel Tesfaye (professionally known as The Weeknd) has spent several years expanding his career as a musician—becoming a Grammy-winning artist known for hits like “Blinding Lights” and “Save Your Tears.” However, later this year, Tesfaye is officially set to make his feature film debut with the psychological thriller Hurry Up Tomorrow. Directed by Trey Edward Shults, the movie is based on The Weeknd’s sixth studio album of the same name, with a star-studded cast that suggests it has the potential to be a suspenseful journey into the mind of its protagonist, covering themes of self-identity.

The Weeknd Praises the Cast of His Upcoming Film Hurry Up Tomorrow
In addition to co-writing the personal film, Tesfaye stars alongside Jenna Ortega, Barry Keoghan, and fellow musician Gabby Barrett, and in an interview with Variety, the actor-turned-musician specifically praised the lead cast, saying, “Jenna brought so much depth to the character. There was a scene where Trey and I looked at each other like, ‘On paper, this is just ridiculous — how is it going to translate on screen?’ And she said, ‘I have an idea.’ She led that whole scene — none of it was rehearsed, and a lot of my reactions in it are not acting.” Elsewhere in the interview, we also learn that Keoghan, who has been gaining recognition for his performances in The Banshees of Inisherin and Saltburn, was always Tesfaye’s first choice for the role.
While not much is known about the film, it has been said that Tesfaye’s character struggles with the psychology of fame, a theme that resonates with his own experiences in the music industry. The film is set to be released on May 16, 2025, and is expected to be a polarizing cinematic experience, given his work on The Idol.
All things considered, will you be checking this one out in theaters?

Among the many 2025 movies on the way, one is for all the fans of The Weeknd. The “Blinding Lights” singer has co-written a movie inspired by his next album called Hurry Up Tomorrow, and Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan are his castmates. As we wait for more details for the thriller, The Weeknd had some glowing things to say about Ortega’s work on the project.
After Jenna Ortega had a big year by being the star of one of 2024’s big hits, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the actress is going to have a massive one with numerous projects set to be released in 2025. One of them had her working closely with a global pop star. Here’s what The Weeknd had to say about co-starring with the 22-year-old in a recent interview with Variety:
Jenna brought so much depth to the character. There was a scene where Trey and I looked at each other like, ‘On paper, this is just ridiculous — how is it going to translate on screen?’ And she said, ‘I have an idea.’ She led that whole scene — none of it was rehearsed, and a lot of my reactions in it are not acting.
The Weeknd shared being in awe of the young actress, and given all the work we’ve seen from her so far, I’m not really surprised. Hurry Up Tomorrow is directed and co-written by Terry Edward Shults, who also helmed 2017’s It Comes At Night and 2019’s Waves. While we really don’t know anything about the plot, The Weeknd’s description of Jenna Ortega’s performance definitely has me more intrigued about what’s to come.
It sounds like Jenna Ortega was a huge asset to the production of Hurry Up Tomorrow, and she found a way to add her own mark on the character that had not been considered by the two main creatives behind the movie. Ortega also had her own comments for The Weeknd (born Abel Makkonen Tesfaye) after starring alongside him for his feature debut:
Abel is such a sweetheart, and really looked out for everyone on our set. It was so great getting to know him and help bring his vision to life.
Ahead of the Hurry Up Tomorrow movie, The Weeknd’s new album will come out next week on January 31. The movie is heading to theaters on May 16 from Lionsgate., and the artist has also announced that he’ll have a tour for the album as well.
Jenna Ortega’s New Film With The Weeknd Is Coming, And I’m Loving His Comments About What She Was Like On Set
Exciting news for Jenna Ortega fans! The talented young actress is set to star in a new film alongside music sensation The Weeknd, and it seems like the collaboration is already off to a great start.
In a recent interview, The Weeknd couldn’t stop gushing about Jenna’s professionalism and dedication on set. He praised her work ethic and described her as a true pleasure to work with. He also mentioned how impressed he was with her acting skills and how she brought her character to life in a way that exceeded his expectations.
It’s always refreshing to hear such positive feedback about a rising star like Jenna Ortega, and it’s clear that she is making a lasting impression on everyone she works with. I can’t wait to see the magic they create together on screen in this new film. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting project!

Ring out the old, ring in a cascade of eagerly anticipated album releases from some of pop’s biggest names.
This month alone we have new full-length outings from The Weeknd, Manic Street Preachers, Franz Ferdinand, David Gray and Ringo Starr who becomes the latest legend to turn his hand to country music next week in collaboration with T. Bone Burnett.
Will Lana Del Ray climb into the saddle too? Early reports suggest she aims to move closer to country on her tenth album, The Right One Will Stay – due out in May.
Lana, who has already released a cover of Take Me Home, Country Roads and performed Stand By Your Man live, has confirmed it will be “a classic country, American, southern Gothic production”.
She also says the new songs won’t be “a radical departure” from 2023’s critically acclaimed chart-topper Did You Know There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd. The first taste, the title track, is a haunting and achingly tender collaboration with Post Malone.
Ed Sheeran has just released +-=÷× (TOUR COLLECTION), with 25 of his biggest-selling songs recorded live, plus “exclusive memos” from the singer on the CD and vinyl versions.
But Ed has also finished a new studio album which will see him return to “big pop” after the relatively glum Autumn Variations and – (subtract).
We can expect new releases from Sam Fender in February – he’s already teased us with the superb People Watching – and The Darkness in March.
And perhaps surprisingly The Cure are threatening to release a companion to last year’s Songs Of A Lost World this summer.
Chris Martin says Coldplay will bow out with one last record, and Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, Blondie, Morrissey, The Distillers and Stereophonics are also promising albums. And Madonna is said to be working on new music with Stuart Price, the head producer on her 2005 album Confessions On A Dance Floor Let’s hope there’s room for fresh talent to get noticed too.
X-Ray Spex. Live At The Roundhouse.
The iconic punk band’s final gig – recorded in 2008, three years before Poly Styrene’s death at 53 – is loud, proud, and bursting with energy. They play their greats – the gloriously defiant Oh Bondage Up Yours! and the slower, strangely bewitching Germ Free Adolescents. Vigorous belters Identity, The Day The World Turned Dayglo and I Am A Poseur still pack a punch.
The Skabratts. Koolest Kat.
Peter Azzopardi’s London-based five-piece specialise in breezy Ska and upbeat pop reggae. It’s impossible to listen to original numbers like Soon You’ll Be Gone and The Vultures Are Coming without smiling. Their music sound doffs its pork pie hat to the 2-Tone years, and is close in feel to the cheery apolitical bounce of Madness and Bad Manners. Ten tracks of sunshine.
Jeff Christie. Here & Now.
Best known for his 1970 hits, the chart-topping global smash Yellow River and the follow-up San Bernardino, the former Christie star now specialises in melodic Americana. ‘On the road to Graceland, dust beneath my wheels,’ he sings on Driving Down To Memphis. Soul-infused Building Bridges is a heart-felt plea for global peace in an ever-grimmer world. Better By Now, about long-term relationships, boasts an instant chorus.
Ringo Starr, The Weeknd, and David Gray are all set to make waves in the music world with their latest releases. Ringo Starr, the legendary drummer of The Beatles, is back with a new album titled “Zoom In”, featuring collaborations with artists like Paul McCartney, Dave Grohl, and Finneas. The Weeknd, known for his soulful R&B sound, has dropped a new EP called “The Highlights”, a compilation of his greatest hits. And David Gray, the British singer-songwriter behind hits like “Babylon”, has released a new album titled “Skellig”, showcasing his signature blend of folk and rock. Music fans are in for a treat with these exciting new releases from three iconic artists.

According to fans sightings, the messages — which are written out in six different fonts representing Abel Tesfaye’s various eras — have gone up in Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Paris, London and Melbourne, according to fan snaps.
In two posts on Monday (Dec. 30) teasing the tease, Tesfaye wrote “8 beautiful chapters in this story,” accompanied by a composite image featuring iconic looks from those eras — with the same TheEndIsNear branding — followed by a list of his albums. It begins with 2012’s compilation/major label debut Trilogy (which scooped up his three previous mixtapes: House of Balloons, Thursday and Echoes of Silence), followed by 2013’s Kiss Land, 2015’s Beauty Behind the Madness, 2016’s Starboy, the 2018 EP My Dear Melancholy, 2020’s smash After Hours, 2022’s Dawn FM and his upcoming sixth studio album.
In a second post, he shared a 24-second video of “The End Is Near” billboards compiled on a digital display atop a building on a busy street. At press time a spokesperson for the singer had not returned Billboard‘s request for additional information on the billboards.
Tesfaye has been teasing his next LP for months, with Hurry Up Tomorrow slated for release on Jan. 24. The set will be the third and final installment of the latest trilogy in the Weeknd’s career, following on the heels of 2020’s After Hours and 2022’s Dawn FM. To date he has released three singles from the collection, including “Dancing in the Flames,” “Timeless” with Playboi Carti and “São Paulo” featuring Anitta.
He debuted those songs and other tracks from Hurry Up Tomorrow during his one-night-only show at the Estádio MorumBIS in São Paulo, Brazil. Weeknd has planned a one-night-only gig at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Los Angeles on January 25. Earlier this month he again hinted at the major reboot, posting “New Album, New Tour, New Movie, New Everything.”
In addition to the album, Weeknd is slated to make his feature film debut in the parallel Hurry Up Tomorrow big screen psychological thriller, directed by Trey Edward Shults (It Comes At Night) and co-starring Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan; the film is due out on May 16.
Back in May 2023, in a W Magazine interview, Tesfaye intimated that his next studio release would be his final one as the Weeknd. “It’s getting to a place and a time where I’m getting ready to close the Weeknd chapter. I’ll still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Eventually. I’m definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn,” he said at the time. “The album I’m working on now is probably my last hurrah as The Weeknd. This is something that I have to do. As The Weeknd, I’ve said everything I can say.”
Check out Weeknd’s teases below.
The Weeknd is known for his cryptic and mysterious persona, and he is once again teasing fans with hints of something big on the horizon. Ominous billboards have been popping up around the world, featuring the singer’s name and the word “The End” in bold, dramatic lettering.
Fans are speculating that this could be a hint at the end of an era for The Weeknd, possibly signaling the conclusion of a chapter in his career or the start of something entirely new. The billboards have sparked a frenzy of excitement and curiosity among fans, who are eagerly awaiting more clues and information from the enigmatic artist.
With his unique blend of R&B, pop, and alternative music, The Weeknd has captured the hearts of millions of fans around the world. Whatever “The End” may signify, one thing is for certain – it’s bound to be epic and unforgettable. Stay tuned for more updates as the mystery unfolds.

For a while, Abel Tesfaye has been planting the seeds of the idea that his forthcoming studio album will be his last as the Weeknd. Hurry Up Tomorrow, the record set for release in January as the conclusion of his latest trilogy, looks to speed up the separation. He’s already started to chip away at what once was with a series of billboards posted in major cities across the world that read: “The End Is Near.”
The billboards appeared in Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Paris, London, and Melbourne. On each, the words are written in the exact same way, with space between the “E” and “ND,” as though the rest of the letters from the Weeknd were plucked out.
Each of the billboards replicates the phrase in the style of his previous albums. There’s the bold red and yellow color scheme of Starboy, the classic Kiss Land green, the ripped paper reminiscent of Beauty Behind the Madness, the deep red of After Hours, the chrome font from Dawn FM, and the stark white of his first-ever trilogy: House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence.
The Weeknd has been laying the groundwork for Hurry Up Tomorrow for months. When he announced the title in September, it was accompanied by a dramatic and lengthy statement that reflected on the nearly 15 years since Trilogy arrived and changed everything for him.
“I look in the mirror and feel both old and new, stuck in limbo and unable to move. I still haven’t faced myself,” he said at the time. “More songs could help, but what do I have left to say? Woe is me in my gilded cage, right? The very thing that once made me invincible failed me on the world stage. A new trauma surfaced, opening floodgates. A new path awaits. When today ends, I’ll discover who I am.”
Hurry Up Tomorrow will arrive on Jan. 24, bringing the trilogy that began with After Hours in 2020 — and continued with Dawn FM in 2022 —to an end. The following day, the Weeknd will perform at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, California for a one-night-only concert.
But even that will only be the beginning of the end. On May 16, the Weeknd, or maybe he’ll just be Tesfaye by then, will release the feature film Hurry Up Tomorrowin theaters. He has described the movie as a “musically driven psychological thriller.” Jenna Ortega and Barry Keoghan will star in the release, which will be directed by Trey Edward Shults.
The Weeknd is back at it again, teasing fans with cryptic billboards that have everyone buzzing about his new music. The R&B superstar has been spotted putting up billboards in major cities around the world, hinting at a new track titled “Hurry Up Tomorrow” with the tagline “End is Near.”
Fans are speculating that this could be a preview of The Weeknd’s upcoming album, which has been highly anticipated since the release of his critically acclaimed album “After Hours” in 2020. The billboards have sparked excitement and speculation among fans, who are eagerly waiting for more details to be revealed.
With his signature blend of smooth vocals and atmospheric production, The Weeknd has become one of the biggest names in music today. His ability to create captivating and emotional music has earned him a dedicated fanbase, and his latest tease has only added to the anticipation for what he has in store next.
Stay tuned for more updates on The Weeknd’s new music, and in the meantime, keep an eye out for those mysterious billboards popping up in a city near you. The end may be near, but the excitement is just beginning.
