Weird vibe lingers between the Rams and Matthew Stafford

After the Rams lost to the Eagles in the divisional round (L.A. gave Philly its toughest game of the entire postseason), quarterback Matthew Stafford said he wanted to take some time to think about his future.

It didn’t take much. With Rams coach Sean McVay adding in the aftermath of the season-ending playoff loss that the Rams hoped to get clarity on Stafford’s situation “sooner than later,” preliminary clarity came by the end of the month. Stafford reportedly plans to play in 2025.

That’s not the end. It’s the beginning. Due to make only $27 million in 2025, Stafford needs a bump to at least 50 percent of the top of the $60 million market at the position. Which means that the Rams and Stafford need to work out a new deal.

Last year, Stafford started clamoring for a revised contract in the immediate aftermath of round one of the draft, when the Rams didn’t pick his potential replacement. While both sides kept the process quiet, it lingered until the very start of training camp — and almost didn’t get done.

Now, what will the Rams do? His cap number for 2025 is nearly $50 million. Cutting him with a post-June 1 designation would result in a $26.67 million cap charge for 2026, with a $4 million guaranteed roster bonus owed to Stafford. Trading him before June 1 (and before the $4 million roster bonus comes due) would spark a $37 million cap charge.

Although it’s not as dire as the Deshaun Watson debacle in Cleveland, the Rams have a mess. They could kick the cap can by extending his contract, but he’s 37. At what point will the Rams (who are young at most positions) pivot to someone more than a decade younger than Stafford?

For now, it’s just a weird vibe. And with several teams looking for quarterbacks — Jets, Steelers, Browns, Titans, Raiders, Giants, Saints (maybe) — the Rams likely remain open for business.

Remember, when G.M. Les Snead was asked about the possibility of trading Stafford? Snead didn’t say, “Next question.” He said, “[I]t’ll take someone calling or us reaching out if we want to do that. Those are the things that’ll be determined down the road here.”

So those things are still to be determined. With the Scouting Combine starting next week in Indianapolis, it could be determined there.

The Los Angeles Rams made a bold move this offseason by trading for quarterback Matthew Stafford, hoping to elevate their offense to new heights. However, despite the excitement surrounding the acquisition, there seems to be a weird vibe lingering between the Rams and their new signal-caller.

In recent interviews and press conferences, there have been subtle hints of tension and unease between Stafford and the Rams organization. Some have speculated that Stafford may be feeling the pressure of living up to the high expectations set for him in Los Angeles, while others believe that there may be some growing pains as he adjusts to a new team and system.

Whatever the reason may be, it’s clear that there is a strange energy surrounding the Rams and Matthew Stafford as they prepare for the upcoming season. Only time will tell if they can overcome this weird vibe and come together as a cohesive unit on the field. Stay tuned for more updates as the season progresses.

  • Ariana Grande Reveals ‘Wicked’ Prop She Kept That Would Be ‘Weird’ To Frame

Ariana Grande kept a prop from Wicked that currently resides in a very unique part of her home.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the beloved actress and pop sensation is in possession of Cynthia Erivo‘s prosthetic Elphaba ears and keeps them next to her printer.

“Right now, they’re just, like, next to the printer. With, like, pens and printer and then Cynthia’s ears,” she unveiled during a recent interview.

The “7 Rings” songstress continued, explaining that she thinks it would be odd to frame the ears, so she’s still figuring out where to display them.

“But sometimes if I’m having guests over or if I put out a tray of whatever, I’ll just kind of leave them nearby to see if anyone gets a little confused. I’m just kidding. I’ve never done that, but I will. No, yeah, they’re next to the printer for now. Framing them is weird.”

During an interview with Today in November, Grande listed a few props she took from the set of the highly-acclaimed film, including Glinda‘s wand, some books, a few snow globes, and “a piece of Johnny Bailey … that he gave me.”

The star did not go into detail about what Bailey gave her, but did reveal that she took Erivo’s prothetic ears (created to cover the actress’s many piercings) that have yet to claim a final destination in her home.

In a recent interview with Vogue, Ariana Grande shocked fans by revealing that she kept a prop from her time starring in the Broadway musical “Wicked.” The prop in question? Glinda’s bubble wand.

Grande explained that she couldn’t bear to part with the wand after her run in the show, as it had sentimental value to her. She joked that it would be “weird” to frame the prop, but she couldn’t bring herself to throw it away either.

Fans were delighted to hear about Grande’s connection to the musical, and many expressed their desire to see her return to the stage in the future. With her incredible vocal range and stage presence, it’s no wonder that Grande left such a lasting impression during her time in “Wicked.”

Who knows, maybe one day we’ll see Grande back on Broadway, wand in hand, ready to cast a spell on audiences once again.

  • 7 Weird Things About the Batman and Robin Relationship

Batman and Robin have a very weird and probably illegal relationship. Let’s discuss it.

But first: There’s a big joke, going back decades, that Batman and Robin are gay. This wonderful article is not about that. This is about things in the Batman and Robin relationship that everyone takes for granted, but are actually exceptionally strange, when you stop and think about them.

Also, we aren’t here to scold fictional characters. If anything, the messiness of the Batman and Robin relationship makes it more fascinating, from a storytelling standpoint, because it muddles with the boring portrayal of Batman as perfect.

In fact, as we shall show, the man who dresses up as a bat every night is a total weirdo. Starting with…

    No. 1 Robin’s Costume

    Detective Comics #38. DC Comics

Batman, famously, dresses in dark colors as camouflage, allowing him to blend into the night, invisible to criminals. He’s able to dodge their gunfire in part because he’s so hard to see.

Robin, meanwhile, wears the brightest costume possible. While fighting alongside Batman. The Caped Crusader hides in the shadows, while his youthful ward… wears a garish red, yellow and green costume that attracts attention. And bullets, we assume.

We saw a Batman satire once where Robin was called “Target,” and that satire was right on the money. We would link to it if we could find it, but unfortunately when we Google “Robin costume target” we just get pages of Robin costumes… from Target.

No. 2 Robin Is a Minor

A publicity still of Burt Ward in the 1966 Batman movie. 20th Century Fox

There have been many Robins over the years, and while their origin stories have changed over the decades, all are presented as minors at the time they meet Batman. Remember he’s called “The Boy Wonder.”

Dick Grayson, the first Robin, first appeared in Detective Comics #38 (eleven issues after Batman debuted in Detective Comics #27) and was a junior member of the acrobatics troupe The Flying Graysons, led by his parents, John and Mary. When criminals kill them, Batman takes on Dick Grayson as his ward, training him to fight crime.

Yes, Dick Grayson was an acrobat, which is dangerous. But taking a minor out on the streets at night to fight criminals with guns — in a brightly colored costume, no less — is child endangerment.

While we don’t know what state Gotham is in, we do know it resembles New York City, and that under New York Penal Law 260.10(1), “a person is guilty of endangering the welfare of a child when… he or she knowingly acts in a manner likely to be injurious to the physical, mental or moral welfare of a child less than seventeen years old or directs or authorizes such child to engage in an occupation involving a substantial risk of danger to his or her life or health.”

It’s a Class A misdemeanor, which can result in up to a year in jail.

No. 3. Batman Calls Robin ‘Chum’

Jaws. Universal. – Credit: Universal Pictures

To add to the endangerment thing… Batman often calls Robin “chum.”

There are two meanings of the word chum. It can mean friend — or it can refer to the stuff you throw to sharks, as bait.

We wonder how Batman is using it.

    The Mask

Chris O’Donnell and Alicia Silverstone in Batman and Robin. Warner Bros.

Again, inequality. Batman wears a cowl that covers his entire face, except for his mouth. Robin wears a masquerade-party style mask that covers only his eyes.

If the point of a mask is hiding your identity, so no enemies can harm you while you’re in civilian mode, or by attacking your friends and family, Robin’s mask is a real problem. Batman is endangering not just Robin, but also himself, Alfred, Batgirl, and… I guess that’s their whole inner circle. But still.

Even the modernized Robin of the ’90s, played by Chris O’Donnell, wore a little mask that concealed almost nothing. Ditto for Batgirl (Alicia Silverstone).

    The Robin Hood Thing

    Warner Bros.

Robin was modeled on Robin Hood. In 1940, when Robin was introduced, Robin Hood was a red-hot pop culture property thanks to the 1938 Errol Flynn hit The Adventures of Robin Hood (see publicity still, above).

But Robin Hood is famous for two things. One is stealing from the rich and giving to the poor, and the other is shooting arrows.

Robin, on the other hand, works for a billionaire, helping him beat up street criminals, and doesn’t even get arrows, which might be helpful, given the criminals’ guns. Especially considering his loud, gaudy, bullet-magnet costume,

    Death

    DC Comics

As we mentioned, there have been several Robins through the years. When Dick Grayson grew up and became Nightwing (finally donning a dark colored costume — smart!), he was replaced by another Boy Wonder, Jason Todd, in 1983.

But five years later, in part because fans didn’t love Jason Todd, DC Comics introduced the groundbreaking Death in the Family storyline in which The Joker bombed a building with Jason inside — and fans got to call a 900 number to decide if Jason lived or died. Fans voted for him to die. (But don’t blame 13-year-old me — I voted for him to live.)

What’s even weirder than fans voting to blow up a teenager is that after Jason’s death, no one from the state came to say, “Hey — what happened?” No one investigated Bruce Wayne for maybe, potentially, putting the poor boy in harm’s way. It was just, “Hey, that kid who looks exactly like Robin never comes around anymore.”

    Ward

    ABC

In the classic Batman TV show Adam West’s Bruce Wayne would often refer to Dick Grayson as his “youthful ward.”

Cornell Law School’s Legal Information Institute defines a “ward” as “a person who is under the protection, care , or guardianship of another individual, typically due to being a minor or legally incapacitated.” It notes that “courts appoint guardians to oversee the well-being and decision-making of wards who are unable to care for themselves.”

This means Bruce Wayne had to go to court and explain that he wanted to take on Dick Grayson as his “ward” — despite being, in the eyes of the court, a total stranger to Grayson.

Wouldn’t it be more typical to make someone your foster child? Or adopt him? Maybe. But here’s where things may get dark, from a legal standpoint.

A ward, unlike an adopted child, does not receive an inheritance — unless the guardian specifies it in the guardian’s will. So it’s possible that Batman is endangering Robin, night after night, with no assurance that he will receive any part of the vast Wayne fortune. Which is absolutely chilling.

Amusingly, the youthful ward of the Batman TV show was played by Burt Ward, so maybe the show was just having fun with that.

Aside: Did The People’s Joker Get It Right?

    Vera Drew The People's Joker

While countless Batman stories have skimmed over the weirder parts of the Batman and Robin relationship, it took a low-budget satire to confront it head-on.

The People’s Joker, in which filmmaker Vera Drew plays a trans joker trying to break into the Gotham comedy scene, features a satirized version of Carrie Kelley, the version of Robin who appears in Frank Miller’s 1986 The Dark Knight Returns.

In The People’s Joker, Carrie gender transitions to become Jason Todd, who then enters into a toxic, predatory relationship with Batman, in spite of their age difference and Jason being 17.

Obviously, a sexual relationship between Batman and Robin isn’t canon, and Drew is making fun of the aforementioned gay jokes about the Batman and Robin relationship. But what the film gets right is that even in the most charitable interpretation, the Batman and Robin relationship involves a mature, wealthy man putting a much younger, orphaned partner in harm’s way. We all them the Dynamic Duo, but one half of the duo holds all the power.

    It’s weird. And weirdly compelling.

  • Trump’s Weird Rant About Coal at Davos Is Proof He’s Losing It

“Is providing nutrition assistance to low-income kids ‘woke and weaponized’? Kaine asked Vought, who refused to answer, replying that he “wasn’t here to talk about the budget that center put out.”

Kaine pressed further, but Vought claimed he was only there on behalf of the president. The Virginia senator then pointed out that in the same document, Vought proposed deep cuts to Medicaid for low-income families, tenant-based rental assistance, and low-income housing energy assistance.

“This was all in your document about ending woke and weaponized government. OK, let’s see, we want to traumatize federal employees and then we want to take all of these programs that help everyday people who are struggling and cut them because they’re ‘woke and weaponized.’ Those are your words, not mine,” Kaine concluded. “From the fullness of the heart, the mouth speaks.”

At the recent World Economic Forum in Davos, President Donald Trump went on a bizarre rant about coal that left many scratching their heads. In a speech that was supposed to focus on the future of the global economy, Trump instead chose to ramble on about the virtues of coal and how it is the key to economic success.

It was a strange and out-of-touch moment that only served to highlight the fact that Trump is increasingly disconnected from reality. While the rest of the world is moving towards renewable energy and sustainable practices, Trump is stuck in the past, clinging to a dying industry that is harmful to both the environment and public health.

Trump’s obsession with coal is not only misguided, it’s dangerous. By promoting an industry that is becoming increasingly irrelevant, Trump is not only ignoring the urgent need to address climate change, but also putting the health and well-being of Americans at risk.

It’s clear that Trump is grasping at straws, desperately trying to hold onto a narrative that no longer holds water. His weird rant about coal at Davos is just further proof that he is losing it, and that his time in office is coming to an end. Let’s hope that the next president will be more in touch with reality and willing to embrace the changes needed to create a more sustainable and prosperous future.

  • The Duke’s Mayo Bowl Is Gross and Weird. That’s Why People Love It.

The Duke’s Mayo Bowl Is Gross and Weird. That’s Why People Love It.

Come for the football, stay for the mayonnaise bath, the mayonnaise eating contest, the mayonnaise race, mayonnaise tastings, mayonnaise bobbing …

The Duke’s Mayo Bowl, and all its emulsion-based shenanigans, has trended on social media in recent years and turned the event from one of many college football bowl games into one of the sport’s most viral sensations.

On Friday, under the lights of a 75,000-person stadium in Charlotte, N.C., two teams will battle for victory and for the chance — nay, the right — to watch as the winning head coach is bathed in five gallons of celebratory mayo.

Here’s everything you need to know about the game.

At 7:30 p.m. on Friday, the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers will play the Virginia Tech Hokies at Bank of America Stadium, which the National Football League’s Carolina Panthers call home. The Gophers won seven of 12 games this season, while the Hokies compiled an even six wins and six losses.

The game will be broadcast on ESPN.

Duke’s Mayo, a competitor to Hellman’s that is much preferred among many Southerners, purchased the rights for an undisclosed amount from the Charlotte Sports Foundation in 2020. Before that, the game had a variety of sponsors, including Belk, a Charlotte-based department store chain, and Meineke Car Care Center, a Charlotte-based operator of repair shops.

Duke’s extended the contract in 2023 until an undisclosed time, Miller Yoho, the director of communications and marketing for the foundation, said.

Six major bowl games — the Rose Bowl, the Sugar Bowl, the Peach Bowl, the Fiesta Bowl, the Orange Bowl and the Cotton Bowl — are part of a playoff that leads to a national championship game. Then there are 36 other bowl games vying to remain relevant as players enter the transfer portal or drop out entirely if they have N.F.L. aspirations. Some bowls rely on decades of tradition, others on exotic locales.

And some, like the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, have figured out a way to create buzz and draw millions of viewers.

The fierce battle for attention during bowl season has led to made-for-TikTok moments to fill opening ceremonies, stoppage time and postgame festivities.

There was the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl, which brought fans down to the field and into a small, cracker-branded jacuzzi. At the Pop-Tarts Bowl, a humanoid Pop-Tarts mascot danced on the field before it was ripped to shreds and eaten by the winning team in a moment that frightened and intrigued.

The Duke’s Mayo Bowl is more than just gimmicks. Its payouts to teams, attendance and television ratings are respectable for a mid-tier game, and it holds a coveted prime-time spot near the end of the bowl season. Last year’s edition between North Carolina and West Virginia drew 3.84 million viewers, its most since 2016. But its success in garnering attention has more to do with its willingness to go all-in on mayo, creating some of the most provocative and viral moments in college football.

There will be more mayo-eating contests and mayo tastings of some kind, that’s for sure. Last year, fans were given jars of Duke’s Mayo with team logos on them. The Duke’s Mayo mascot will run in a race. The Savannah Bananas, an exhibition baseball team known for its on-field antics, will show up, Mr. Yoho said. Other mayo mayhem will ensue.

There will also be mayo bobbing. It’s like bobbing for apples, except with small mayo packets swimming in a bucket of mayo.

And then there will be the infamous mayo dump. That’s when the coach of the winning team sits in a chair, most likely questioning some life decisions, while five gallons of mayonnaise is dumped on his head.

Gross? Maybe. But the people are watching. Mr. Yoho told The New York Times last year that interest in the game had never been higher.

“Honestly, this is the most anyone’s been talking about it in the 10 years I’ve been doing it,” he said. Duke’s Mayo had a record day of online sales during last year’s game, a spokesman for the brand added.

Executives with the Charlotte Sports Foundation have been tight-lipped about some of the surprises that they say are in store, including new elements to the mayo dump. But whatever happens, clips are likely to be all over your social media feeds shortly after the clock hits double zeros.

The Duke’s Mayo Bowl Is Gross and Weird. That’s Why People Love It.

Every year, college football fans eagerly anticipate the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, not for the action on the field, but for the bizarre tradition that takes place off of it. The Duke’s Mayo Bowl has become known for its post-game celebration, where the winning team is doused in mayonnaise by the coaching staff.

Yes, you read that right. Mayonnaise.

It’s a strange and somewhat gross sight to see players covered in the creamy condiment, but it has become a beloved tradition among fans and players alike. The sheer absurdity of it all is what makes it so entertaining.

But why mayo, you ask? Well, Duke’s Mayonnaise is a proud sponsor of the bowl game, and they have fully embraced the quirky tradition. It may not make much sense, but it certainly makes for a memorable and unique experience.

So next time you tune in to watch the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, don’t be put off by the mayonnaise mayhem. Embrace the weirdness and enjoy the spectacle that is the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. It may be gross, but that’s exactly why people love it.

Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin is posting weird stuff on social media about the 2024 College Football Playoff, mostly as a way to pout about his team being left out of the final 12-team field.

After Kiffin whined about the first-round results as “proof” his team got jobbed, the Ole Miss coach decided to randomly throw support behind Penn State of all teams on Tuesday night.

The Nittany Lions’ quarterfinal game against Boise State is not one you’d expect Kiffin to take a side in, but he still did for some bizarre reason.

Is this some sort of sassy insult at Boise State, who got an automatic bid in the College Football Playoff after winning the Mountain West?

Is he just trying to support former Vanderbilt coach James Franklin? Is he just super into Penn State football all of a sudden?

We have no idea, but please stop being weird about all of this, Lane Kiffin. You lost to Kentucky and Florida this year. Give it a break!

In a recent tweet, Kiffin posted a photo of himself with the caption, “Just waiting for the CFP committee to call me for my expert analysis.” This sarcastic jab at the selection committee’s decision-making process only added fuel to the fire of Kiffin’s already eccentric online persona.

10 of the most weird and unique Mass. news stories of 2024

Remember when someone lost their fake teeth at The Big E? Or when a horse had to be rescued after falling through a barn floor?

Here are 10 of the weirdest and most unique news stories from Massachusetts this past year.

    10. #Goatgate consumed a Longmeadow Facebook forum in November, leading to hundreds of residents hissing at each other over a meandering cat named Goat, who visited a neighbor’s home too many times for comfort.

    9. A Middleborough coffee shop went viral on TikTok in November for its video of customers dancing in exchange for free coffee.

    8. Worcester Olympian Stephen Nedoroscik, the “pommel horse guy” was compared to Clark Kent. The bronze medalist winner went on to star in “Dancing with the Stars.”

    7. The animatronic band at Chuck E. Cheese, called Munch’s Make Believe Band, is vanishing from Massachusetts. There is now only one animatronic band left after another was removed from the Methuen location in July.

    6. Remember how when you were a child and fell playing outside, a single bandage could take away the pain? A Harvard scientist hopes to develop the adult version of that with a non-opioid painkiller drug.

    5. From giant rats protesting in South Boston to rats on birth control, there was so much rat news in 2024.

However, Boston did not make the top 10 list for being the “rattiest” city in the U.S.

    4. The Big E’s lost and found always has interesting finds. But this year’s lost fake teeth take the cake.

    2. Giant flying Joro spiders reached Massachusetts earlier this year.

These spiders are not likely to appear in Western Massachusetts due to colder winters. But warming temperatures in eastern Massachusetts yield the likelihood that the spiders can survive the winter, according to the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources.

    Richard "Rick" Slayman

Richard “Rick” Slayman, who became the world’s first living recipient of a genetically modified pig kidney transplant, has died almost two months after he underwent the procedure.Michelle Rose/Massachusetts General Hospital

    1. The world’s first successful transplant of a genetically edited pig kidney into a living person was performed at Massachusetts General Hospital this year.

Richard Slayman, a 62-year-old man from Weymouth, had end-stage kidney disease and was the pig kidney’s recipient during a four-hour surgery on March 16. Slayman died in May due to an “unexpected cardiac event.”

Still, this advancement will go down in Massachusetts history. This news is uniquely (and proudly) Massachusetts and will likely help save millions of patients one day.

  • This Bizarre Marvel Theory is Too Weird Even For Rick and Morty

This Bizarre Marvel Theory is Too Weird Even For Rick and Morty

Usually, when ‘Marvel Comics’ and ‘Rick and Morty’ find themselves being referenced in the same sentence, it’s because Rick and Morty has done a parody of Marvel in some form or fashion, or Marvel has introduced characters reminiscent of those in Rick and Morty. What’s decidedly out of the norm is the idea that Marvel Comics is somehow even weirder than Rick and Morty, even in a case where two nearly identical events occur in both established universes. But, if one bizarre theory is correct, that unusual circumstance would become a simple fact.

In Sentry Vol. 2 by Paul Jenkins and John Romita, Jr., Robert Reynolds and his heroic alter ego, the Sentry, are trying to figure out how their third alter ego, the Void, is murdering people all over the world despite being locked up in their basement. The Void is the evil counterpart of the Sentry, and when it’s revealed that he wasn’t imprisoned after all, Sentry does everything in his power to get to the bottom of what the Void is up to. This leads Sentry down the rabbit hole of his own past, which takes a shockingly dark turn.

Robert Reynolds aka Sentry in a straight jacket drooling in a cell.

Upon visiting the laboratory where the serum that turned Robert Reynolds into Sentry was created, something horrible happens to Sentry: he ‘wakes up’. Suddenly, Robert Reynolds is no longer the Sentry, and he’s no longer Robert Reynolds. He’s a man named John who’s locked in a psychiatric hospital room, wearing a straight jacket, sitting on his bed while drooling and staring blankly at the wall. The Sentry was merely a figment of this man’s imagination, a byproduct of his psychosis – and not just the Sentry, but the entire Marvel Universe.

The Marvel Universe Could Be Nothing More than the Delusions of a Mad Man

The Marvel Universe Might Not Even Exist Within Its Own Continuity

Sentry Vol. 2 reveals that Robert Reynolds was the architect for the whole Marvel Universe, meaning every comic fans have read up until that point was nothing more than Bob’s psychotic delusions (and a few colored drawings in his sketch pad). What’s worse is that ‘John’ was a convicted murderer, having stalked and murdered a neighbor he had a crush on. So, it wasn’t like Marvel was giving fans a new take on a cosmic being who could create universes with his imagination. This was legitimately the delusions of a mad man.

Of course, in Sentry Vol. 2 #7, Bob snaps out of this ‘awakening’. It’s revealed that Doctor Strange and the professor responsible for the Sentry’s existence worked together to trap Bob’s mind in a fabricated reality, effectively sacrificing the Sentry against his will to permanently neutralize his other alter ego, the Void. This brings the Sentry back into the Marvel Universe, and erases any ideas that he had imagined the whole thing while locked inside a cell. But, what if Bob (or John) didn’t snap out of a delusion, but back into one?

Bob realizes the reality in which he’s imprisoned in a psychiatric facility is fake after noticing a tan line on his ring finger immediately after his psychiatrist says that he has never been married. But, if he imagined an entire reality, couldn’t he imagine a small tan line on his finger during a moment of stress? His doctor was telling him his entire reality was fake, and that he was a murderer who would spend the rest of his life in a cell. It would make sense for Bob to create a way back into his totally fabricated ‘Marvel Universe’.

Rick and Morty Did a ‘Imagined Reality’ Bit Similar to Marvel Comics’ Sentry

Marvel leading fans to believe that its universe takes place in Sentry’s mind is similar to the episode of Rick and Morty, “Never Ricking Morty”, otherwise known as the ‘Story Train’ episode. In that episode, Rick and Morty find themselves on a metaphysical train that’s a metaphor for the real-world process of writing an episode of Rick and Morty. While on the train, Rick and Morty encounter the ticket collector, who they call the Tickets Please Guy, and after a brief skirmish, the duo cut him in half and throw him off the train into what’s basically outer space.

Rick & Morty is one of the most beloved animated series of all time, but it’s also made a name for itself in the comics. Here’s the 10 all-time best!

While floating outside the train, in a space of non-canonical, raw imagination and thought, blood spurting from his severed waist, the Tickets Please Guy imagines that he unplugs from a video game inside a Blips and Chitz before rejoining his family in the restaurant area. The episode even cuts to other people who exist in this imagined world, including a cult that worships the Tickets Please Guy (who they call Floaty Bloodman), confirming that sentient life independent of the Tickets Please Guy’s conscious mind exists in his imagined reality.

Marvel Comics is Potentially Even Weirder than Rick and Morty

If Sentry is Imagining the Marvel Universe, He’ll Never ‘Snap Out of It’

Rick and Morty sitting on the couch with Marvel Comics characters behind them.

Rick and Morty only lets the ‘Tickets Please Guy gag’ go on for a few minutes before snapping fans back into the series’ actual reality, leaving no question as to which universe is real and which is fake. Meanwhile, if Sentry actually is imagining the entire Marvel Universe, then that’s a ‘gag’ that has been going on for a much longer period of time. Rick and Morty kept fans in an imagined reality for only a few minutes, but Marvel has possibly been doing it for years, even decades retroactively, making Marvel Comics much weirder than Rick and Morty.

So, what is the Marvel Universe, literally? Well, if this theory is correct, the actual Marvel Universe is basically just the real world. It’s a world where a mentally ill convicted murderer named John killed his neighbor and was given a life sentence to be served in a psychiatric facility, where he imagined a fictional world that fans know as the Marvel Universe. In other words, when real-world fans buy the latest issues of The Amazing Spider-Man or The Incredible Hulk, they might as well be looking at a picture of a man drooling in his cell.

15 Most Powerful Characters Who Beat the Sentry (aka Marvel’s Superman)

The Sentry has a reputation as Marvel’s Superman for a reason, but despite that, he’s not invincible. Here are the 15 Marvel characters who beat him.

This theory is definitely dark, and completely takes away from the fantastical nature of the Marvel Universe. Of course, it’s totally possible that the events of Sentry Vol. 2 happened just as the comic depicted, and when Sentry awakened from Doctor Strange’s mind trap, he really did snap out of a trance. But, it’s also just as likely that the opposite is true, thereby making this bizarre theory a grim reality, which would also mean that Marvel Comics is way weirder than even Rick and Morty.

    Rick and Morty Poster

Rick and Morty is an adventure/Sci-Fi animated series that follows the intergalactic, inter-dimensional adventures of super-genius Rick Sanchez and his less-than-average grandson Morty Smith. Rick’s daughter, Beth, his granddaughter, Summer, and his hated stepson, Jerry, also take center stage more often than not. Hailing from creators Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon, the series blends comedy with science fiction as a way of exploring a wide variety of themes aimed at an adult audience.

Have you ever heard a theory so mind-bogglingly bizarre that not even Rick and Morty could handle it? Well, get ready to have your mind blown because we’ve got just the theory for you.

According to some die-hard Marvel fans, there is a theory floating around that suggests that the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe is actually just one big elaborate dream sequence created by none other than Deadpool himself. That’s right, the Merc with a Mouth is supposedly the mastermind behind the entire MCU, pulling all the strings and manipulating the characters like pawns in his own twisted game.

But it doesn’t stop there. The theory goes on to suggest that Deadpool is actually a god-like being who has the power to control reality itself, and that he created the MCU as a way to entertain himself and mess with the minds of the other Marvel characters. Everything from the Avengers assembling to Thanos snapping his fingers is all just part of Deadpool’s sick and twisted fantasy.

Now, we know what you’re thinking – this theory is way too out there even for Rick and Morty. And we couldn’t agree more. But hey, when it comes to the world of comic books and superheroes, anything is possible, right?

So next time you’re watching an Avengers movie or reading a Deadpool comic, just remember that it could all be part of one big, bizarre dream sequence created by the craziest character in the Marvel universe. And who knows, maybe one day we’ll see Deadpool himself break the fourth wall and reveal the truth behind this mind-bending theory.
